3. Font Mood Board
In initiation of fonts, my inspiration came from Q magazine which focused on Serif fonts which include
accents to enhance the dynamics of what the text looks like. In advancement to font ideas I gather a
variety of fonts shown on my mood board, at first I was inspired by the bold, retro writing due to is
complexity and integrity, but later didn’t use these fonts due to its unprofessional look which reflected
when in creation of my magazine. Flicking through so many fonts aided me to understand what an
audience wanted, fonts such as Payback, Lunch, Jumpman, Blade Line and Sketch Nothing appealed to a
more younger audience, this wouldn’t appeal to my target audience due to the boldness and
unprofessionalism. Taking inspiration from existing magazine covers fonts applied my knowledge and
understanding towards what a audience would want to see. Trying to challenge the Kerrang conventions
fonts such as Golden Eye, Final Fantasy and Monkey Scratches inspired the textual analysis of a Serif font
that being a bold standard Sans-Serif font. I used the website conduct these images to show to my
audience the inspiration used throughout and the development of what should be linked in a Rock
Genre. I had eventually used Times New Roman as my final font to complete the simplicity, serif,
professional look I was inspiring, heavily influenced by Q magazine. These sharp dominating letters are
icons for all magazines that feature fonts, and therefore I reached out to a standardized font to appeal
to my audience.

5. Colour Mood Board
My colour mood board sustained it’s formality with the audience, due to the questionnaire I had
presented, in relation to this I chose multiple colours and the audience decided in what would appeal to
their likings. Overall the outcome made me decide to pick Red, White, Black and Blue. In the process on
development different shades of colour would expression emotions and come across differently, to
appeal to my audience I took inspiration from Q magazine who used Red, White and Black. Taking this
into valuable consideration I wanted to create a voyeuristic individual modes and shades of these
colours. By using the gradient tool I efficiently created a transparency and a toner of contrast and
brightness to blend my colours to what is shown on the mood board. My original and initial idea was to
gather different colours and present them on my draft magazine pieces identifying what where the
strong highlights which stood out from the rest and therefore in more detail I developed a sense of
creativity to imply any extra colours that stood out such as the blue. In my magazine piece, as indie rock
is kind of retro these 3 colours would be suitably perfect for the type of genre I am doing. With these
colours ill make sure the image of a person or artist has these colours with them showing that these will
be my main colours. With this I’ll create either a black or white background with either black or white
writing depending on how I feel on which colour will look better. I will add the featured colours in red
and outline/highlight everything that is important and featured within the magazine.
