8. Music genre and how your magazine suggests it My partner and I wanted our magazine to be original and meet everyone’s needs. Our inspiration for our magazine was “Q” which is how our magazine came to cater for teenage girls and also has the same genre music style. It follows what’s big at the time. The most obvious way that we have shown this is by the artists featured. Although the models in our magazine are fictional, on the front cover there are references to three of the most talked about artists in the music industry today; Rhianna, Drake and JLS, it is pure coincidence that they are RnB artists. Another way that I have done this is the mise en scene in each photograph. For example, on my features page the “celebrity” featured has props of guitars and amps which suggest that his music genre is indie.
