1. The whites and light grey colours used in this cover
compliment his dark skin; it also contrasts well with
his dark clothing. The two similarly pigmented
colours contrasted together create a modern,
fashionable style to the cover fitting with the aims
for the ‘Dazed & Confused’ magazine. The modern
style to this cover would attract the right kind of
consumers for the magazines aims. The khaki green
jumper worn by the rapper on the cover is used to
compliment and contrast with the bright white
background and the rappers dark skin. The magazine
has used a mono tonal theme and used the rappers
clothing as the added contrasting colours. This cover
hasn’t used vibrant colours as the person viewed on
the front perhaps isn’t a ‘vibrant’ artist as the
RnB/Grime style music the artist is involved in isn’t a
‘vibrant’ style.
The mono tonal image used in the
background contrasts well with the
secondary colours theme used in the mid
ground of the cover as they are almost
completely opposite themes however it
blends well together. This theme isn’t a
typical colour theme for ‘Vogue’ as the
magazine usually goes for less vibrant classic
colours. This colour pallet has been used as
it consists of neon/ bright colours these
attract the eye of consumers
The monochrome colour scheme is used to
accentuate the yellow on the magazine cover. This
creates a ‘pop’ to the consumer’s eye, attracting
their attention while buying the magazine. The
sharpness of the image is emphasised by the dark
black and white filter, this is done to highlight Paul
McCartney's age, which attracts the correct
audience, the black and white filter also underlines
his age on the basis that Paul McCartney is a role
model from the 1960’s and therefore would attract
an older audience. However, the splash of yellow
also attracts a wider audience by making the
magazine appear more modern possibly attracting a
younger audience, this is further empasised through
the use of a modern font.
