1. Target audience – mainly males, but some females, people who enjoy the genre of music, The Courteeners fans, between 13 and 25. The colour scheme is the same as what is on a typical “Q” magazine front cover. The colours are bold and stand out and appeal to the target audience. The main image is a long shot of The Courteeners. The image shows them standing high up, possibly on a hill. The fact that they are high up links with their body language which suggests that they are arrogant and are “showing off” like the caption says. The page titles are laid out in a border around the image – this draws the reader’s attention to the image.

2. It is quite unclear of who the image is of but I have found out that it is a medium shot of a member of Snow Patrol. This indicates that the main story is about Snow Patrol. The fact that his hand is coming out of the photo suggests that the magazine is informal. It is effective because it gives the image more depth and makes it appear 3D. The writing is laid out as a border around the main image – this makes the image stand out more. The colour scheme is the same as what would be on a typical NME magazine front cover and appeals to the target audience. Target audience – mainly males but some females, Snow Patrol fans, aged 13-25.

3. This contents page is laid out differently than the other two contents pages. Personally, I prefer the other two contents pages as there is only one main image and are a lot simpler. This contents page has three larger images on the left and two smaller images on the left. The top and the bottom images are medium shots and the middle image is a medium shot. The pictures are the first thing the reader sees because of visual hierarchy. Target audience – mainly males but some females, aged 13-25. The colour scheme is the same as what would be on a typical MOJO magazine front cover and appeals to the target audience. The font of the writing is simple and easy to read.
