The Humanities Of Arts Management
It cannot deny that there are more and more new fields in academic education. One of the most
relevant to me is the arts management. After studied arts management at undergraduate school in
Taiwan, now I am still studying in this field in America. Therefore, I am interested in the education of
the arts management in the US. The aim of the paper is to examine the research paper, The MFA in
Arts Management (Rosenstein, 2013) to understand the arts management s condition in American
education. Furthermore, through this paper, I may understand how hard I need to work in this
discipline and find the academic writing in the field. Following, I will introduce Swales and Feak s
(2012) moves, summarize the research paper, and discuss the writing skill, including structure and
style, in the article.
First of all, the introduction of the each paper is very important. It previews the brief summary for
readers to understand what they will read and makes the reader choice a paper efficiently. Hence, I
want to introduce academic moves from Swales and Feak (2012). Basing on Swales and Feak (2012),
the introduction of the article, the MFA in Arts Management, shows 3 moves. The move 1a describes
how important the issue will be discussed in the article paper. Through the Over its fifty years in the
academy... the move 1a describes that the arts administration, also called arts management, has
developed as a professional field gradually in higher institution. Furthermore, the move 1b is

Essay about UNIX and Windows
UNIX and Windows
About Unix The Unix operating system is a powerful programming environment designed by and for
computer programmers. Unix is available on a wide variety of computer systems, including personal
computers, workstations, mainframes and supercomputers. It was developed for, and is particularly
well suited to, multi user systems, but is now also run on stand alone machines.
Beginners and casual users often find the jargon filled help system frustrating and the lack of icons
and menus unfriendly. Unix was first developed in the early 1970s at Bell Laboratories in the USA. It
was originally developed as a system to be used by the staff in the laboratories, and it was principally
intended to provide an operating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are many different versions of Unix, as well as some Unix lookalikes . The most widely used
are: System V (distributed by the original developers, AT T) AIX (IBM) Berkeley BSD (from the
University of California, Berkeley) SunOS, now known as Solaris (from the makers of Sun
workstations) Xenix (a PC version of Unix).
The Unix operating system consists basically of the kernel and the shell. The kernel is the part carries
out basic operating system functions such as accessing files, allocating memory and handling
communications.
A shell provides the user interface to the kernel. A number of shells are available on the Unix
operating system including the Bourne shell and the C shell. The shell is basically an extensive
program that runs all the time that you are logged on to the computer, and provides an interactive
interface between the user and the computer functions. The C shell is the default shell for interactive
work on many Unix systems.
Most users don t see much difference among the variants of Unix (ULTRIX, AIX, etc.), because the
shell program handles interactions between the user and the operating system. When you type a
command at Unix, you are actually typing it at the shell. The shells are the same no matter what type
of Unix you use; for example, Korn shell will look the same whether the computer you use is AIX or
ULTRIX. You can choose from several shells: Korn shell

Cocaine Abuse
Cocaine abuse has been a persistent health problem worldwide for many years (Platt, 2002). Adults
aged 18 to 25 year have a higher rate of current cocaine use than any other age group, with 1.5 percent
of young adults reporting past month cocaine use (The Science of Drug Abuse Addiction , 2013).
Every drug has a history as to how it came about, also, as to why it is used and or abused among
adults. Each drug has its own chemical make up, along with how that drug works in the human body.
Treatment of cocaine addiction must be comprehensive, and strategies need to assess the
neurobiological, social, and medical aspects of the patient s drug abuse (The Science of Drug Abuse

The Roots Of Physician Well Being
The roots of physician well being are formed early. While medical school lays a firm foundation for
the essential knowledge physicians must posses, it should also inculcate and promote the ideal
characteristics of compassion, integrity, empathy, professionalism, and commitment to service and life
long learning. 1 Doctors are people of great power, but with great power comes great responsibility.
Such responsibilities and certain qualities that medical students must present are outlined by a major
regulating body of medical health in the UK generally known as the General Medical Council (GMC)
as evident in both of their reports Good Medical Practice 2 and Medical Students: Professionalism and
Fitness to Practice 3 respectively. Such reports are available for medical educators, students, doctors,
as well as the general public. Of the numerous qualities that must be presented, acting with Probity,
Resilience, and Conscientiousness are three main features I will be discussing in this essay. Probity
One of the prime qualities doctors and medical students should particularly abide by is probity, the
quality of having strong moral principles; honest and decency , as defined by the Oxford Dictionary4.
The GMC defines probity as being honest, trustworthy, and acting with integrity2. To supplement this
in an interaction based context with the patient, an Oxford Journal paper suggests that trust is
fundamental in a good patient doctor relationship5. In practical application of

Livy s Greed In Rome
From the beginning, Rome has made it known that they are a force to be reckoned with. It is a state
built upon lust, treachery and deceit, but most importantly Rome is founded on the power struggle and
overwhelming amount of greed that inhabits every roman that follows its legacy. Livy makes it clear
to his audience that the Roman soldiers are a force to be reckoned with, even from their earliest
beginnings. Through his tellings of the story of Romulus and Remus, and the Rape and Theft of the
Sabine women, Livy also details the ruthlessness that this greed entails, by quite explicit means. The
first story that Livy introduces sets the scene for Rome, as we are shown the two founding brothers:
Romulus and Remus. It starts out simple enough,

1. What was the purpose of the New Democracy strategy? Was it successful? Explain.
The purpose of the New Democracy strategy was meant to spur China s political and economic

The land redistribution program for the peasants was positively accepted such that Mao believed that
the next step, the Great Leap Forward, would also be successful. Unfortunately, the program failed
because the rural collectives did not accomplish the economic and administrative tasks assigned to
them. Instead, the program was established in the wrong moment due to bad weather, which
contributed to the downward trend of food production. Furthermore, many peasants resisted the efforts
to work, thus it also contributed to millions of people dying from starvation in the next several years.
3. Was the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution evidence of Communism s strength or its weakness?
Explain.
The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution was an evidence of Communism s strength because a vast
majority of the economic and educational reforms were carried out successfully. By introducing a new
school system and eradicating profit incentives, it enabled Mao to spread its communism ideologies
into practice in China. For instance, instead of teaching children science and humanities, Mao
encouraged schools to teach what s more important, the Little Red Book, which were Mao s maxim
regarding revolutionary passion and good behavior. Moreover, thoughts, culture, habits, and culture

Raising Minimum Driving Age
In 2014, 2,270 teens in the U.S. ages 16 19 were killed and 221,313 were treated in emergency
departments for injuries suffered in motor vehicle crashes. State legislature should raise minimum
driving age from 16 to 18 because of the immaturity level of 16 year olds, responsibility, and they
would be older and have more experience. If driving age was moved up it would make the roads a
much safer place to be.
Observation
The driving age should be increased to 18 years old because every day I see how immature some 16
year olds are. They should not be put behind the wheel of a car and put not only themselves but others
in danger. They could affect other families with one wrong move. The extra two years will make a

How Irving Creates A Portrait Of Sneed As More And More Pig
In the memoir Trying to save Piggy Sneed, John Irving recounts how his grandmother s kindness
towards a retarded garbage collector, Sneed, inspired him to become a writer. One of the key aspects
of the memoir is how Irving creates a portrait of Sneed as more and more pig like. The effect of this
portrait is to make readers believe, by the end of the memoir, that Sneed is a pig. Irving starts the
memoir with the statement that all memoirs are partially made up, and as such, Trying to save Piggy
Sneed, too, has false components. He uses his imagination throughout the memoir to supplement his
memory and to alter facts about Sneed, so as to create a false and cruel picture of him. My aim is to
analyze how Irving uses his imagination to characterize Sneed and answer why does he, even as an
adult, insist on being abusive to this innocent man? In paragraph 8, Irving emphasizes that Sneed lived
with his pigs, imagining that his pigs would crowd around him for warmth. He associates Sneed s
smell and look with his pig like qualities. But, although Sneed smelled and looked awful, this alone is
not conclusive. Sneed was poor and retarded and couldn t talk, so the only thing he could do for a
living was collect garbage and keep some pigs, work in which it is not easy to maintain hygiene.
Because his barn was small, Sneed had to remain close to his pigs, which was the reason he looked
and smelled awful, rather than a willingness to live like a pig, as Irving describes.

Suicide In The Military
Mental health is an up and coming issue that is being brought to the attention of health care
professionals more and more each day. The United States military personnel are ones who often
experience mental health problems, like PTSD (Post traumatic Stress disorder) and MDD (Major
depressive disorder) due to being in the military. However, research has shown that the military health
system has been faulty at determining mental health issues within their healthcare system which has
led to increased suicide rates. The question is for active military or veterans, does early screening and

Irish Nationalists Struggle for Independence from Britain
Irish Nationalists attempted to establish continuity with what they believed to be appropriate or
suitable aspects of Irish history and culture. These attempts lead to both the revival and invention of a
culturally distinct Irish heritage not associated with British rule in order to justify a sense of
nationhood and to support the Irish struggle for Independence (Hobsbawm in Laurence, A p176)
(Laurence, A p.160).
Whilst there is no single definition of Irish Nationalism, as the various groups and movements within
the Nationalist cause differed in views, opinions and methods. Irish nationalism can be defined as the
early struggle in the nineteenth and twentieth century to achieve independence from British rule,
achieved in 1921 and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The methods they used showed further attempts by a new government to establish continuity with
what they believed to be a suitable Irish past. Materials used for reconstruction had to be or Irish

symbols of British rule were abandoned in favour of rebuilding other parts of Dublin such as the Four

it also shows what the early Irish government deemed as suitable to the Irish past they were trying to

had little interest in preserving an Ireland associated with British rule. As did the creation of the
Ancient Monuments Act in 1929 which preserved and protected pre 1700 buildings in Ireland.
Whilst later efforts were made restore Dublin Castle and the transformation of Kilmainham hospital
into an art gallery as well as the restoration of number of private houses in Ireland, these restorations
were not taken until after Ireland joined the European Union in 1973. These efforts were again not un
pragmatic as the early Irish government has little funds for restoration but the timing is also significant

Fun Home Identity
Fun Home and Sex Criminals both explore sexuality and identity in different ways throughout the
books. With Sex Criminals, the use of colour to represent different means and the passing of time in
the book was very key to the story. In both books there was a struggle with their sexual identity where
the main characters are trying to figure out who they really are. Both books do this differently. In fun
Home it is a struggle for a father and daughter, while in Sex Criminals it is two individuals that share
the same power but have to figure it out by themselves in the beginning. In Sex Criminals, the main
character was a lone and no one would help her on her journey to discovering what was happing with
her body and who she really was. The author of this books shows us this through the use of colour.
The colour of her clothing would represent different things, when she was confident about who she
was it was blue, and the colour red was for when she was confused and lost. The author also like to
have a playful tone in this book about taboo subjects to lighten the mood. This was shown when Jon

The Most Popular Country Music
FAMOUS MUSICIANS AND BANDS THAT TURNED COUNTRY
Music is food to the soul
Music is the greatest communication in the world. Even if people don t really understand the language
that you re making music in, they appreciate and know good music when they hear it. Lou Rawls was
absolutely correct when he pointed this out. Regardless where and from whom it comes from, good
music is good music and anyone can appreciate that. With any genre of music, musicians aim at
stirring a mysterious feeling with their songs. They all hope for a positive reaction from their listeners
and fans. Over the years however, musicians have continued to switch from one genre to another.
Most feel that they need to unleash their full potential and be comfortable while doing it.

My essay is going to be about the similarities and differences between Casino Royale and The Spy
Who Loved Me . I Will explore all aspects of each film including, Bond, the Bond girls, the villain
and enemy, special effects and the mise en scene.
The opening scenes are both similar yet different in both films. Casino Royale starts off with free
running, a modern sport that makes the audience want to keep watching. It is dangerous, new age and
suits the film itself. It is also a sport which isn t something you can just try out at home, it needs a lot
of skill and endurance. The Spy Who Loved Me however, starts off with bond being chased by the

In TSWLM , Bond appealed more to the male audience as he was brave, clever and mischievous.
Whereas in CR bond appealed to both the male and female audience. This is because Daniel Craig
who acts Bond in CR is more sexy and sensitive in the film compared to the actor playing bond in
TSWLM . But as well as appealing to the women he also still appeals to the male audience too
because although he has a sensitive side he still has an adventurous and dangerous side to him too.
And so the character of bond is portrayed different in both films. Although his character may change
his role as Bond himself is still likewise. The role of bond is basically a man who fights villains and
saves the day. He is a secret agent working for MI6. If you were to look for a character to play Bond
the kind of things you would look out for in the actor would be as follows: tall, unique looking, fit and
healthy, young and an actor who has a low profile so he would then be a type cast of Bond.
The Bond girls are very stereotypical and are similar in both films in many ways. The typical role of a
Bond girl is to be sexy and attractive and to be like a sidekick to Bond. The Bond girls aren t supposed
to be just a pretty face though. Beneath the beauty, they are also expected to be intelligent women that
help Bond in his missions. Although both Bond girls have many similarities, they also have many
differences which have played a big part in the change of the target audience. Vesper, the

Warrior Archetype Research Paper
What makes a warrior is it:being able to push through hardships to the end, perhaps it s the ability to be
disciplined enough to deny any incentives that would deter you from your goals,or maybe it s
something not as positive maybe it s the ability to ruthlessly pursue your goals regardless of who s in
your path.Having similar qualities to the warrior archetype is not necessarily a bad thing, however the
same can be said for it being good also. Take for example Wonder Woman she fights for the greater
good, but she is not afraid to kill for the greater good.
The archetype that was chosen for me based on the quiz was the warrior.A warrior is someone who

psychopathic zombie that infects humans only to force them to buy brains for an outrageous price
from him just to stay alive. That is a perfect example of ruthlessness and I hope to never stoop to the
point where I have to bring others down to achieve my goals in life.
I ve already said many bad things about this archetype implying that it is only bad, however it s quite
the contrary.A warrior is also courageous, competitive, and disciplined. Courageousness go hand and
hand usually when a person is courageous they have morals so they can stay on the right path and stay
courageous so they have to be very disciplined to keep these morales intact.
My favorite trait of this archetype is competitiveness I view myself as a very competitive person.I
believe we all need a friend who keeps us motivated to be the best at something. When I work at
something I love I don t want to stop halfway and call it done I want to ace it and work as hard as
possible at it until eventually I am considered the very best at it. I want to be known as a somebody in

non competitive person is how you fail to achieve your highest expectations and goals.Which is
something I never hope to happen to me or anyone

The new TV show Scream Queens premiered September 22, 2015 on FOX. Scream Queens centers on
the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority, who is targeted by several killers dressed in red devil outfits. The show
mixes black comedy and the slasher subgenre with the classic whodunit. The series includes violence,

Scream Queens is a unique show because it parodies and pokes fun at the horror genre. An analysis of

Radiant confronts the viewer with the polished geometrical finish in which plays with the human eye.
Her Boulder sculptures are exquisite, constructed from panels of coloured translucent acrylic, they

The major theme of Smiths work in my opinion was to bring an insignificant boring plain like boulder

transparency and multiple colours. We should see people from different angles before judging and this
is conveyed by looking through the acrylics and seeing different colours and angles. In comparison to
Radiant, the artists intended meaning and reasoning behind creating this artwork is completely
different. This 3 dimensional form is more about dynamic movement with the overall intention of
breaking up the formal character of the Melbourne city it was located in. It does this with the use of
bright yellow dominating colour and the dynamic movement created by the different angles. The
people of the city wanted a piece of art that was bold, simple and to be the focal point of where it was

cooking if an oil is needed. Seasoning are also an essential part of cooking, they use soy sauce, hot

There were many products that Hmong use today in America that were not readily available to them in

goat milk was used to supplement diets. Many Hmong continue to not use dairy products because of
the moderate percentage of Hmong that are lactose intolerant. The overall fat content in the Hmong

The Effects Of Sensory Stimulation On The Senses Of An...
Our five senses connect our minds with the world that surrounds us. Many people begin to experience
difficulties with their senses as they age. If an individual with Alzheimer s or a related disorder begins
to lose some of these senses, the confusion that he or she is already experiencing may worsen. Even
when an individual has difficulty making sense of complex sensory stimuli, a pleasant sensation can
still provide enjoyment and an unpleasant one can evoke a feeling of disgust. There are numerous
positive effects related to stimulating the senses of an individual who has dementia. Sensory
stimulation has no boundaries, which is why caregivers are creating sensory rooms for seniors.
Sensory Stimulation
Sensory stimulation allows us to engage with our environment, communicate in numerous and
complex ways, and experience unparalleled situations. We are bombarded with sensory stimulation
continuously; however, individuals who have Alzheimer s or a related condition may not experience
enough sensory stimulation.

The Security Of Database System
The Security Of Database
Introduction
In the contemporary times, it has been widely believed that the huge computer network platform is
considered to be extremely beneficial in terms of making the entire community more informative
(Martínez, et al, 2013). The technology of database has created a leading position for itself in the
computing environment. However, due to this drastic increase in the use of computer network
systems, it has been widely observed that there has been an aggravation in the aspects of network
intrusion and identity theft. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save
yourselves from this untoward generation (Acts2:40, New King James Version). Therefore, the
database system is considered to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thesis Statement
The aspect of computer database security is aggravating with the increase in intense influence of
technology in our routine lives. The paper aims to present some key security threats and the effective
solutions in order to counter such threats that are largely adopted by the companies in today s world.
Various Types of Attacks on the Computer Network System
After the violation of several layers of protection, it has been observed that the attacker or hacker may
want to perform the below listed attacks.
Direct Attacks
This type of attack specifically means that the targeted data or sensitive information is attacked
directly. Due to this, it has been observed that these targeted attacks are considered to be extremely
obvious and they are successful only in the condition if the database is not protected by any sort of
protection mechanism (Ahmad, et al, 2011). In case there is any protection system installed at the
gateway, this type of attack is failed and the attacker proceeds to the next.
Indirect Attacks
In this type of attack, the attack is not aimed directly at the data or information, which is targeted.
Rather, in an indirect attack, information about the target and from the target is achieved through
various intermediate objects. Here, attackers usually use combination of keys as well as queries. Some
of them are even used for the purpose of misdirecting and cheating the secure mechanism of database
security (Ambler, 2012). These are

California Gangs
There are approximately 1.4 million active street, prison, and outlaw gang members comprising more
than 33,500 gangs in the United States, according to the National Gang Intelligence Center of the
Federal Bureau of Investigation. Gangs are defined as a group of people who form an alliance for a
common purpose and engage in violent or criminal activity. Gang violence continues to grow in
California. It is inarguable that the gang problem has become more entrenched, over the past 25 years,
especially here locally in Porterville. There are many different gangs in California, but there is a
strong presence of hispanic gangs. During 1980 s, California street gangs were divided into Surenos
and Nortenos. Some say the North South battle started in the 1950s in a California prison, where two
prisoners fought over a pair of shoes. One inmate formed the Mexican Mafia for Sureños, and the
other prisoner formed Nuestra Familia for Norteños, which is how the division was created.
The Central Valley is the dividing line for northern and southern gangs. Gangs remain the primary
distributors of drugs. Often, gang members are involved in drug sales and trafficking. Financial gain is
the primary goal of any association between these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Northern cliques are Varrio Central Poros, East Side Varrio, West Side Poros. The Southern
cliques are Southern Lifestyle and Brown Pride Surenos. The Supreme White Power is a clique whose
members are Caucasian. There are 990 gang members who live in Porterville alone as of June. The
county is home to a total of 106 cliques.
Most law enforcement personnel agree on a couple of key points: gangs will always be around, but the
negative impacts caused by gangs can be prevented or mitigated to some extent. However, media
reporting has a natural tendency to cover areas experiencing escalations in gang violence, sometimes
directly or inadvertently creating the illusion that the upsurge is

What Does This Isn T Goodbye Mean
This Isn t Goodbye is a realistic short story about a serise of events that a girl named Jules experiences
throughout a school day. Based off a true story, This Isn t Goodbye eloquently envelops the love,
friendship, and vunerability teenagers experience in high school within a three part story that
demonstrates just how much we will do for the people we love. Inspired by the beauty and love we see
when music is shared between two people, Our Song was written about two inseperable friends whose
love for music keeps them going through both the good times and the bad. Originally titled Her Song,
Our Song is a true representation of how strong the bonds of friendship are. When People Ask Me is a

The Importance Of Free Speech In Higher Education
American society identifies itself as a society where freedom and equal opportunity for learning and
expressing new ideas are abundant and unthwarted. The free speech principle, or the principle that all
speech and ideas should be able to move freely without being impeded on by government or an
institution, is a principle American society has taken many steps to solidify and safeguard. Despite our
best efforts, differentiating ideas and free speech continue to be segregated in favor of popular opinion
especially in higher education. Often times, students along with public speakers and professors are
silenced on campus because of conflict with the public s sentiment. This obstruction of the basic
American value of free speech in higher education comes with a detrimental cost to liberal education
and the free flow of ideas.
Liberal education (the idea that education should promote all ideas or beliefs) is designed for students
to explore the vastness of the world and its many ideas. Generally students who explore new fields
and majors through education feel a desire to promote these newfound ideas, especially if it involves
politics, on their college campus. Whether it be through a group, a club, or a form of media, students
have the ability to spread mass amounts of information and ideas to both open and unopened minds.
But even with the Constitutional right that protects these students ability to showcase new and
different ideas, this right is often times impeded on

Essay about Exploitative Commercials in Children’s TV...
Alcohol. Obesity. Violence. For kids today in the United States, these are only a few of the problems
linked to the child targeted mass media, especially the multi million dollar business television
commercials in children s programming. With the disappearance of a TV free environment, a typical
American kid sees about 40,000 television advertisements each year, most of which are for soda,
candy, video games, fast food and their free toys. In order to collect some information, I sat down on a
Saturday morning on July 16, 2004, and recorded several kids TV ads for further analysis. Needless to
say, the results were quite shocking aside from the obvious, I also noticed that most ads featured active
and aggressive boys while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, boys are active and assertive, care most about sports and war games. In the Pull up
diapers commercial that I taped, a little girl intently plays with her teddy bear as she waits in a fitting
room for her mom to finish changing. As her mom twirls around in front of a mirror again, the girl
steps onto the pile of clothes on the floor and whispers, Mom, can we go now? The next scene takes
place in front of a public restroom, where the girl holds her mom s hands and smiles. Not far away
from the girl, a little boy holding a Pull up diaper hurriedly runs into the men s bathroom by himself.
This seemingly harmless commercial can actually be very misleading to young children. The mom is
not only playing the traditional role of a housewife, but also suggesting to her daughter that
appearance is very important to women because they have to attract men with their charming looks.
Just as O Connor states, Little girls must be prepared for a life of buying clothes and cosmetics and all
those other wonderful things that will make them irresistibly alluring objects. In addition to the
emphasis on materialism and a need for the perfect body image, it also seems that girls are always
associated with tender loving dolls such as the teddy bear, and toy cars and video games are certainly
out of the picture. The little boy running to the bathroom is another subtle example of rampant

Television Coverage And Alternative Media Coverage
The difference in mass media coverage and alternative media coverage is that mass media focuses
more on a broader relationship between the Call of Duty franchise and the USDoD; however,
alternative media goes more in depth to the subject. When accessing mass media sources, their content
often filled with positive takes of the subject because they are usually funded by the company. For
instance, game developers would not want bad reviews of their content out on mass media sources like
CNN because it reduces the profit. Also it appeals to most retailers, such as Gamestop, Wal Mart, or
Target. On the other hand, alternative media gives a more closely look of the contents of the game.
The Call of Duty franchise in this case, Advanced Warfare and the USDoD have been working with
each other in making the FPS game. The technology applied in the game are currently ideas from the
USDoD. For example, the weapons, the exoskeleton, and the style. They are ideas from DARPA as
well. There are many different technologies presented in Advance Warfare. For instance, the use of the
Tac 19, which blast energy instead of slug or buckshot. These type of technology is influence by the
USDoD or DARPA because without their collaborations of such weapons, Advance Warfare may
result to using weapons available today. For example, assault rifles like the M 19 or Scar H. Noam

The Chile Of Peru And Chile
For the fault zone that I chose to research for this project, I chose the Peru Chile Trench, also known
as the Chile Subduction Megathrust and as the Atacama Trench. It is called that because the area
between Peru and Chile is called The Atacama , and such was the plate named. The Peru Chile trench
is located along the western coast of Peru and Chile. It marks the zone where the Nazca plate is being
subducted beneath the South American plate and is approximately 3,666 miles long. (Britannica, p.1)
Located on the fault are sediments, amongst them are turbidites. Turbidites are areas of sediment are

Therefore, there are many seismic events that have taken place on our geologic timeline and at the
same time shaped our historic timeline.
The most recent large scale earthquake along the Peru Chile Plate was the 16 September earthquake,
which happened in 2015. It measured an M 8.3, one of the largest on record. 5 were killed, and over 1
million were evacuated from greatly affected areas. However, compared to other earthquakes that have
taken place in Chile, this one was moderate.
In 2010, an 8.8 Mw earthquake shook Chile. It was approximately 200 miles southwest of Chile and
was approximately 375 miles long. A 2014 study attributed the quake to immense water pressure
located between the two plates. The region was stricken by strong aftershocks for months after the
quake, many of a magnitude of 5.0 Mw or greater.
The Tsunami that took place after the initial quake was caused by a portion of seabed rupturing
upwards, and displacing a large portion of the water being displaced. This water traveled at 450 miles,
at 8 feet tall, to the Chilean and Peruvian coast. Early viewers of the tsunami later reported waves
being up to 10 feet tall. This rupture was believed to be caused by 2 unusually dense pieces of seabed
that had been previously undetected by scientists, and consequently caused a large displacement of
water. There were also small ruptures of seismic

Socrates Downfall Of Socrates
Some persons may claim that Socrates demise made him appear as a martyr, and I disagree with that
statement. Socrates s beliefs were not intended to create a sensation of compassion or stimulate pity
from the crowd. Socrates is actually just speaking in his usual tone. Moreover, it is also interesting
how he has three children, but he does not reference his kids at all or that he is a father. If Socrates had
talked about his kids, then that would have enthused up sympathy. However, that is not Socrates
objective he simply does not request for the court s forgiveness. He just explains why he is virtuous in
depth, but he does not do so because of the idea of death. He says it because of his strong stance on his

At the end of the chapter, Socrates has said his main argument in a detailed and persuasive way, so the

people to see Socrates as a martyr; nevertheless, in this position, it is not possible to identify if he was
stubbornly looking for empathy for his conviction or if he is trying to reach a reasonable verdict.
Looking at Socrates characteristics and how well he speaks, it is evident that Socrates is not a martyr.
Socrates was actually very absorbed in his philosophies, but he was also too direct in his speech to
ever give a thought to searching out sympathy. He is a person has no concealed purposes because he is
very verbose. 2) Why is Irigaray a modern feminist? In Plato s hysteria, it seems like Irigaray is using

Examples Of Fragmented Industry
PAPER TITLE: INDUSTRY EVOLUTION

1.0 ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to know the industries grow through a series of stages from growth
through maturity to decline. The industry life cycle is useful for explaining and expecting trends
among the six forces that drive industry competition. There are two types of industry which are
fragmented industry and consolidated industry. Fragmented industry occurs when the people always
buy the product when an industry is new. When an industry enters maturity, it occurs in consolidated
industry. Based on (Horry Domash, 2009) fragmented markets that have many participants are usually

Tiny House Movement
Buying a home is one of the biggest milestones a person can accomplish, and in the American society,
bigger is usually better. With larger homes, there is a certain sense of prestige and wealth that comes
along with them. Unfortunately, what home buyers do not tend to know, is just how bad that home is
to not only their health, but to the environment and their wallets as well. That is why, over these past
few years, there has been a significant shift to what is known as the Tiny House Movement. However,
before we embark on the tale that is the Tiny House Movement, we first must understand the
traditional home. As of 2015, the average home in America was about 2,600 square feet, and would
cost generally anywhere between one third to a half of any given pay. At those numbers, it takes on
average fifteen years to pay off the home which leaves about 76% of Americans living paycheck to
paycheck just keep a roof over their heads (The Tiny Life).
While it easy to only focus on the cost of the home, it is incredibly important to consider just want that
house is doing to the environment. If we take a trip back to 1981, the average home used about 183
million British thermal units, also known as BTU. By 2012, the number rose to 188.7 million BTUs
(DeSilver). As of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

History and Evolution of Health Care Economics
Healthcare economics has drastically changed over the years. It makes up for one sixth of American
budget (Johnson, 2009). Health care economics has drastically changed partly due to new advances in
technology over the years. Money is the factor of health care economics. Money drives economics and
makes up health care and how far it can go. Economics will continue to change and financial advisors
who have more education on health care economic advances will be beneficial to keep with changes in
economics. Economics focuses on market. Market is like the buyer buys a product or ... Show more

One particular factor for the drastically changing health care economics is the fact that as wealthier
people became, the more willing they were to pay for goods and services. Even now, health care is
most often on people s list after they buy food for their families and essentials for their home. With all
the new advances in technology it has created a change in the supply and demand of health care
economics. People in the 1900s were not as eager to consult with getting health care services as they
are in today s time. Medical services have advanced with medications, surgeries, exams, and patient
care. Shifting the financial burden also makes medical care more desirable to individuals. Insurance
companies paying for all or most of medical costs give people more incentive to seek treatment or get
regular visits by the doctor. The value of health care is also the change that has come to health care
economics. People feel their health is priceless and valuable. They are willing to pay to make sure
they are healthy and live a long life. Although the feeling has changed about health care and people
have more money to spend, health care has made dramatic changes in their costs as well. These
changing costs have made a change in health care economics as well. Debt in the US now is mostly
credited to health care bills that Americans rack up. People are willing to spend as much as money as
possible to pay for

The Pros And Cons Of Violence In Video Games
There is much controversy on the subject of video games. One of the most controversial issues
regarding video games is violence in video games, and the alleged connection with child behavior.
There are many people, especially parents, who blame video games for their children s violent and
aggressive behavior. There are some who do not believe there is a connection with video games, and
particular child behavioral issues. There are studies that prove one side, disprove one side, and it is
very difficult to get accurate facts when a study is done on behavior. Every person is different, so it is
hard to get reliable data. Most people believe that it is a simple cause and effect scenario. They think
that the child plays a violent video game, and then then suddenly start to exhibit violent and
aggressive behavior. In most cases, this is correct. Children from birth until approximately 18 21 are in
a developmental stage. Both their brain and their thoughts are not fully formed. This is why cigarettes
and tobacco are illegal until you are 18, and alcohol and recently marijuana are legal once you are 21.
Your brain is not fully developed, and you can damage your brain with these things, as it is still
growing and forming. This applies to video games and behavior as well. When kids are young, they re
still learning how to act. If your 10 year old is outside playing, or hanging out with people and talking
to them, they will likely grow up socially active, and with an average temperament. If they just have
violent video games, they won t know any different, and have no alternate perspective of what is
normal. So who s fault is it? Is it the schools? No, the school s job is to educate the kids, not monitor
what they do at home. Is it the video game creators? Wrong again, there will be violence elsewhere,
whether it be video games, movies, news, and even reality. So who s fault is it? Perhaps it is the parent
who just bought their ten year old son a very bloody game about killing people. Many parents will buy
a game for their child, then complain that it made their child violent and aggressive. They decide to
blame the game developers instead of taking credit, for they are the ones who bought the game. Video

  • 3. The Humanities Of Arts Management It cannot deny that there are more and more new fields in academic education. One of the most relevant to me is the arts management. After studied arts management at undergraduate school in Taiwan, now I am still studying in this field in America. Therefore, I am interested in the education of the arts management in the US. The aim of the paper is to examine the research paper, The MFA in Arts Management (Rosenstein, 2013) to understand the arts management s condition in American education. Furthermore, through this paper, I may understand how hard I need to work in this discipline and find the academic writing in the field. Following, I will introduce Swales and Feak s (2012) moves, summarize the research paper, and discuss the writing skill, including structure and style, in the article. First of all, the introduction of the each paper is very important. It previews the brief summary for readers to understand what they will read and makes the reader choice a paper efficiently. Hence, I want to introduce academic moves from Swales and Feak (2012). Basing on Swales and Feak (2012), the introduction of the article, the MFA in Arts Management, shows 3 moves. The move 1a describes how important the issue will be discussed in the article paper. Through the Over its fifty years in the academy... the move 1a describes that the arts administration, also called arts management, has developed as a professional field gradually in higher institution. Unix is available on a wide variety of computer systems, including personal computers, workstations, mainframes and supercomputers. It was developed for, and is particularly well suited to, multi user systems, but is now also run on stand alone machines. Beginners and casual users often find the jargon filled help system frustrating and the lack of icons and menus unfriendly. The most widely used are: System V (distributed by the original developers, AT T) AIX (IBM) Berkeley BSD (from the University of California, Berkeley) SunOS, now known as Solaris (from the makers of Sun workstations) Xenix (a PC version of Unix). The Unix operating system consists basically of the kernel and the shell. The kernel is the part carries out basic operating system functions such as accessing files, allocating memory and handling communications. A shell provides the user interface to the kernel. A number of shells are available on the Unix operating system including the Bourne shell and the C shell. The shell is basically an extensive program that runs all the time that you are logged on to the computer, and provides an interactive interface between the user and the computer functions. The C shell is the default shell for interactive work on many Unix systems. Most users don t see much difference among the variants of Unix (ULTRIX, AIX, etc.), because the shell program handles interactions between the user and the operating system. When you type a command at Unix, you are actually typing it at the shell. The shells are the same no matter what type of Unix you use; for example, Korn shell will look the same whether the computer you use is AIX or ULTRIX. You can choose from several shells: Korn shell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Adults aged 18 to 25 year have a higher rate of current cocaine use than any other age group, with 1.5 percent of young adults reporting past month cocaine use (The Science of Drug Abuse Addiction , 2013). Every drug has a history as to how it came about, also, as to why it is used and or abused among adults. Each drug has its own chemical make up, along with how that drug works in the human body. • 6. The Roots Of Physician Well Being The roots of physician well being are formed early. While medical school lays a firm foundation for the essential knowledge physicians must posses, it should also inculcate and promote the ideal characteristics of compassion, integrity, empathy, professionalism, and commitment to service and life long learning. 1 Doctors are people of great power, but with great power comes great responsibility. Such responsibilities and certain qualities that medical students must present are outlined by a major regulating body of medical health in the UK generally known as the General Medical Council (GMC) as evident in both of their reports Good Medical Practice 2 and Medical Students: Professionalism and Fitness to Practice 3 respectively. Such reports are available for medical educators, students, doctors, as well as the general public. Of the numerous qualities that must be presented, acting with Probity, Resilience, and Conscientiousness are three main features I will be discussing in this essay. Probity One of the prime qualities doctors and medical students should particularly abide by is probity, the quality of having strong moral principles; honest and decency , as defined by the Oxford Dictionary4. The GMC defines probity as being honest, trustworthy, and acting with integrity2. To supplement this in an interaction based context with the patient, an Oxford Journal paper suggests that trust is fundamental in a good patient doctor relationship5. In practical application of ... It is a state built upon lust, treachery and deceit, but most importantly Rome is founded on the power struggle and overwhelming amount of greed that inhabits every roman that follows its legacy. Livy makes it clear to his audience that the Roman soldiers are a force to be reckoned with, even from their earliest beginnings. Through his tellings of the story of Romulus and Remus, and the Rape and Theft of the Sabine women, Livy also details the ruthlessness that this greed entails, by quite explicit means. What was the purpose of the New Democracy strategy? Was it successful? Explain. The purpose of the New Democracy strategy was meant to spur China s political and economic recovery. Furthermore, many peasants resisted the efforts to work, thus it also contributed to millions of people dying from starvation in the next several years. 3. The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution was an evidence of Communism s strength because a vast majority of the economic and educational reforms were carried out successfully. For instance, instead of teaching children science and humanities, Mao encouraged schools to teach what s more important, the Little Red Book, which were Mao s maxim regarding revolutionary passion and good behavior. • 10. How Irving Creates A Portrait Of Sneed As More And More Pig In the memoir Trying to save Piggy Sneed, John Irving recounts how his grandmother s kindness towards a retarded garbage collector, Sneed, inspired him to become a writer. One of the key aspects of the memoir is how Irving creates a portrait of Sneed as more and more pig like. The effect of this portrait is to make readers believe, by the end of the memoir, that Sneed is a pig. Irving starts the memoir with the statement that all memoirs are partially made up, and as such, Trying to save Piggy Sneed, too, has false components. He uses his imagination throughout the memoir to supplement his memory and to alter facts about Sneed, so as to create a false and cruel picture of him. My aim is to analyze how Irving uses his imagination to characterize Sneed and answer why does he, even as an adult, insist on being abusive to this innocent man? In paragraph 8, Irving emphasizes that Sneed lived with his pigs, imagining that his pigs would crowd around him for warmth. He associates Sneed s smell and look with his pig like qualities. But, although Sneed smelled and looked awful, this alone is not conclusive. Sneed was poor and retarded and couldn t talk, so the only thing he could do for a living was collect garbage and keep some pigs, work in which it is not easy to maintain hygiene. Because his barn was small, Sneed had to remain close to his pigs, which was the reason he looked and smelled awful, rather than a willingness to live like a pig, as Irving describes. ... Irish Nationalists Struggle for Independence from Britain Irish Nationalists attempted to establish continuity with what they believed to be appropriate or suitable aspects of Irish history and culture. These attempts lead to both the revival and invention of a culturally distinct Irish heritage not associated with British rule in order to justify a sense of nationhood and to support the Irish struggle for Independence (Hobsbawm in Laurence, A p176) (Laurence, A p.160). Whilst later efforts were made restore Dublin Castle and the transformation of Kilmainham hospital into an art gallery as well as the restoration of number of private houses in Ireland, these restorations were not taken until after Ireland joined the European Union in 1973. Even if people don t really understand the language that you re making music in, they appreciate and know good music when they hear it. Lou Rawls was absolutely correct when he pointed this out. Regardless where and from whom it comes from, good music is good music and anyone can appreciate that. With any genre of music, musicians aim at stirring a mysterious feeling with their songs. They all hope for a positive reaction from their listeners and fans. Over the years however, musicians have continued to switch from one genre to another. I Will explore all aspects of each film including, Bond, the Bond girls, the villain and enemy, special effects and the mise en scene. The opening scenes are both similar yet different in both films. Casino Royale starts off with free running, a modern sport that makes the audience want to keep watching. It is dangerous, new age and suits the film itself. It is also a sport which isn t something you can just try out at home, it needs a lot of skill and endurance. In TSWLM , Bond appealed more to the male audience as he was brave, clever and mischievous. Whereas in CR bond appealed to both the male and female audience. This is because Daniel Craig who acts Bond in CR is more sexy and sensitive in the film compared to the actor playing bond in TSWLM . But as well as appealing to the women he also still appeals to the male audience too because although he has a sensitive side he still has an adventurous and dangerous side to him too. And so the character of bond is portrayed different in both films. Although his character may change his role as Bond himself is still likewise. The role of bond is basically a man who fights villains and saves the day. He is a secret agent working for MI6. If you were to look for a character to play Bond the kind of things you would look out for in the actor would be as follows: tall, unique looking, fit and healthy, young and an actor who has a low profile so he would then be a type cast of Bond. The Bond girls are very stereotypical and are similar in both films in many ways. The typical role of a Bond girl is to be sexy and attractive and to be like a sidekick to Bond. The Bond girls aren t supposed to be just a pretty face though. Beneath the beauty, they are also expected to be intelligent women that help Bond in his missions. Although both Bond girls have many similarities, they also have many differences which have played a big part in the change of the target audience. Vesper, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Scream Queens centers on the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority, who is targeted by several killers dressed in red devil outfits. The show mixes black comedy and the slasher subgenre with the classic whodunit. The series includes violence, gore and the use of sexual language, the show tends to be more satirical than terrifying. In addition, Scream Queens is a unique show because it parodies and pokes fun at the horror genre. An analysis of the pilot episode from Scream Queens (2015 present) illustrates how the TV aesthetics of the show develop and portray the themes of death, revenge and good vs evil. Gemma Smiths Radiant and Ron Robertson Swanns Vault will serve as focus and stimulus for the description, analysis, interpretation and evaluation. Radiant confronts the viewer with the polished geometrical finish in which plays with the human eye. Her Boulder sculptures are exquisite, constructed from panels of coloured translucent acrylic, they allow the light to travel through them and create refracted optical illusions. In comparison to Radiant, the artists intended meaning and reasoning behind creating this artwork is completely different. This 3 dimensional form is more about dynamic movement with the overall intention of breaking up the formal character of the Melbourne city it was located in. It does this with the use of bright yellow dominating colour and the dynamic movement created by the different angles. The people of the city wanted a piece of art that was bold, simple and to be the focal point of where it was located.
