Writing Process Essay
Writing Process
When in school, be it college, required schooling, or online, most courses required the student to write
papers to express his understanding of the subjects at hand. For many students, writing can be an
extremely difficult procedure. However, there is a series of steps that can make this process less
daunting, this process is called the Writing Process.
The writing process is a step by step route that a student can follow to make sure that his paper is
ready to be turned in to the instructor. As explained in University of Phoenix s video Writing Process
(2014), the steps of the writing process is (a) read the syllabus, (b) time management, (c) outline, (d)
research, and (e) revision. Using this process can ensure that the paper ... Show more content on

This research usually consists of a student going out of his way to find and gather information on a
certain subject, or subjects. This research not only gives the student information to include in his
written work, but will also likely teach him more about the subject at hand.
The most important thing, when doing research, is to make sure said research is credible and reliable.
Because information is wildly available nowadays, finding wrong or skewed information is not only
easy but common. Being that, students need to learn how to find and use the academic resources
available. For University of Phoenix students, there are three main academic resources available. One
of these is the wildly accessible resource called the Internet and the two exclusive resources for
Phoenix s students only, the Centre for Writing Excellence and the University Library available on
Phoenix Online.
Internet. In this technological age, a student now has the internet at his fingertips. The internet is an
extensive resource for learning new and interesting things, meaning it is an incredible writing
resource. However, because the internet is so widely available for everyone, not everything is credible
and reliable. Being this, a student needs to learn how to siphon through all the rubbish and find

The Pros And Cons Of Poverty Trap
What drives poverty? First, how does one country consider itself living in extremely poor conditions?
This can be answered by using tools like PPP or GDP per capita to distinguish between poor and rich
countries. However, the purpose of this paper is not to discuss which country has the highest GDP, but
rather to discuss the ability the poor obtain to boost their way out of poverty. Are there certain
limitations that poor people face that refrain them from growing or is it just that the poor will always
be poor? This paper will summarize main arguments of mechanisms that give rise to poverty traps
from the article, Do Poverty Traps Exist. Based on these summaries, I will conduct further critical
reviews on some and provide evidence to back my opinion on the specific mechanism at hand.
To begin, one of the arguments first presented in the article give light to saving based poverty traps. If
one does not have enough money to save, they cannot achieve sufficient capital so in turn, their
incomes become stagnant. However, the study in the article argues that the saving rates do increase
from low levels of development. So in some cases, this poverty trap does not exist.
Secondly, the article also argues that a big push to the manufacturing sector can result in high returns
and high income levels in both the modern sector and traditional sector. While, only investing in the
traditional sector, which consists of agriculture, will only provide equalized wages at a low level

The Nosocomial Infection Prevention Program
Executive Summary (Benchmark Assessment)
The purpose of the program The nosocomial infection prevention program has been developed to
serve as basic practical resource to all health care individuals, as well as for those who work in the
infection control department in our health care facility. The program will provide helpful information,
rationales and recommendations in our join effort to fight hospitals acquired infection. This program
will assist our hospital administrators, infection control personnel and, those involved in direct patient
care to prevent hospital acquired infections.
The target population or audience Disturbing to many is that most infection related deaths are
preventable. Nosocomial infection, also known as hospital acquired infection (HAI) is defined as
infection acquired in health care settings. Patients are hospitalized for reasons unrelated to infection
(CDC, 2013). According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nosocomial
infections are the forth leading killer in the United States. Two million hospital acquired infections
occurring per year result in about 100,000 deaths. This is more than the amount of people who die
from auto accidents and homicides combined (CDC, 2013).
Despite advancements in infection surveillance and healthcare practices, nosocomial infections
continue to develop in hospitalized patients. Many studies indicate that hospital acquired infections
increase as older and sicker patients enter our

Disadvantages Of A Broadway Strike
Any negotiator considering items to included in contract cannot afford to overlook the impact of the
united states entertainment industry throughout the world Wilson, J. (1991). Artist often need to deal
with low compensation compared to the one, who have been with the industry for a long time, hence,
it was quite essential to have a couple of union for providing a fair value for the artists. The strike is
often considered as a last remedy to provide benefits for the labors and workers. It would be
disadvantage for both producers and the artists, as we have seen writers guide of America organized
the longest strike, which cost the industry so much money. It is always considered to negotiate face to

The Salt Lake Temple Of The Church Of Christ
On October 21, 2016 I went to the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day
Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah with my soccer team. The temple is located in the center of Salt Lake
City s center, known as temple square. The temple consists of 6 buildings, but I only saw four. Each
building serves different purposes for the church. The first building I saw was the visitors center. Here
I learned about the basics and fundamentals of the church and their religion. The second building I
saw was the Tabernacle which is the home of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Here is where the choir
practices and performs. The next building I saw was the Assembly Hall. The guide did not explain the
purpose of this building, but I am assuming that it is for meetings and activities. While walking, we
saw the Church Office Building which is the home of the church s world headquarters of The Church
Of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. This building is 28 stories and helps facilitate church functions
throughout the world. While touring the beautiful temple square, I saw and learned many things about
the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints that I had not known before. After we arrived at
the North Visitors Center, we were immediately greeted by many of the Mormon missionaries. The
men were wearing a black suit with a button up shirt and the women were wearing a blouse with
leggings and a skirt that extends past the knees. These people were also wearing a name tag with a

How Does The United States Violate Human Rights
Amnesty International is the biggest non governmental organization engaged in the protection of
human rights. Through the years states became parties to many different international conventions and
by their ratification promised to protect fundamental rights and freedoms. However, this is not always
the case. One of the leading countries, which violate human rights, is the United States. Although
United State is signatory to many different international agreements they do not follow their promises.
The United States consistently violates Right to life incorporated in the International Covenant on the
Civil and Political rights and much more.
Generally, there are numbers of mentally retarded people in America through the year whose rights are
not protected and they are sent to death.
One of the happier stories is the story of Earl Washington. Earl is a mentally retarded man with an I.Q

Rough Draft For The Clergy
What was the middle ages like? What were the religions they believed in? What was the* Medieval
Feudalism like? What was Medieval Feudalism? These questions will all be answered and a more that
you might ask. In these pages you will learn about the Middle ages and mostly about the Clergy, one
of the most important and busiest parts of Medieval Feudalism.*First, what was Medieval Feudalism?
Medieval Feudalism was when the King was the most powerful person who also controlled all the
land. But he couldn t have controlled it all by himself right? The answer is...no, he actually had many
barons working underneath him to watch the king*s land and make sure there is no commotion and
rebellion against the king and crop growth and harvesting as well as taxes. What are the Clergy and
why are they so important in the Middle Ages? In the clergy there were many ranks and the most
powerful was the pope. The pope was the most powerful since the villagers and everybody else looked
up to him to ask God for forgiveness for their sins. In the Roman Empire, when the emperor was
absent for different reasons the pope basically took the emperors place and is the most powerful
person in the empire. The role of the pope is to be the churches spiritual leader and administrator.
Once the pope is elected he is the pope until the day he dies. The pope is also the legislator so he is the
guy who gives out the laws and everything. He was* the only one who could give out

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Polony
LITERATURE REVIEW 2.0 Introduction Many varieties of Polony products are available on both the
South African and the Zimbabwean market. They include chicken, beef, garlic and lamb Polony. The
factor mostly responsible for the popularity of polonies is the consumer demand and the availability of
convenient and unique flavors (Aberle et al., 2001; Hui et al., 2001). Polony falls in the class of
convenient foods because it is already cooked and requires no further preparation in order to eat
it,hence it is mostly popular amongst the working classes (Estes et al., 1982). Product development

Personal Experience And My Experience
Being a first time freshman is exciting and intimidating at the same time, for me it is higher than the
average because I do not usually adventure beyond the set path. This is why I appreciate my friends,
who are thrill seekers and tag me along with them. At the California State University of Bakersfield, I
have found the freedom to break away from the set path by following the trail on an Outdoor
Adventure and experiencing the Piedra Blanca Formation Hike. My friend Ana* had invited me to
accompany her on this hike because of the accessibility of the trip. The trip was priced ten dollars
which is a bargain compared to the amazing excursion my friends and I were on. *(I am changing my
friend s name for their privacy) This trip included the transportation from the University to the Piedra
Blanca Formation, and lunch. The day of the trip I was feeling sick and I did consider canceling but I
decided I was not feeling too sick and the fresh air would help. I was waiting for my friend Ana and as
she picked me up she invited me to grab a special Starbucks drink called the medicine ball, it is a mix
of different herbal teas, which surprisingly did help me feel better. We arrive at the university parking
lot and there are around ten other people ready to head out and we are all adrenalized and nervous to
go on the trip. My friend Ana and I were preparing our snacks to head out and as we are boarding the

Lost in the Sky at Grandpa s Cabin Essay
Lost in the Sky at Grandpa s Cabin
My grandfather carries on entire conversations while he salts his food. He salts indiscriminately: His
corn, his pasta, his fish, even his fruit. He never samples his food before reaching for the shaker: He
knows it has yet to be salted to his liking.
The one thing my grandfather doesn t salt is his beer. If there s one taste my grandfather likes more
than salt, it s the wheaty, fizzy flavor of Labatt s Blue. It comes in cans at fifty cents a pop. There is a
full sized refrigerator rigged up in the basement of my grandparents summer cottage to accommodate
my grandfather s beer. He buys it in boxes of thirty. They never last long.

Next door resides a variety of relatives, whose precise relations to me are sometimes unclear: they are
always characterized by a great or a second or a once removed. Once when I was thirteen, a family
came to visit who were relatives of my relatives, a family that included a fine looking young male
specimen with a firm and nicely bronzed chest. Before deciding if it was acceptable to flirt with him, I
had to sit down and draw out a family tree to figure out whether he was blood related. He wasn t.
The drinking that transpires next door makes the habits of my grandparents look like child s play.
They pass over the beer and wine and head straight for the hard stuff. My grandma s sister, my great
aunt, starts her day off with a scotch and soda. My cousins are mixing margaritas before they ve
finished digesting lunch. By the time cocktail hour rolls around, they re all hammered. Sunset only
invites more madness. If my great aunt s middle aged sons aren t setting off $2000 worth of illegal
fireworks down at the beach, they re either rigging raccoon traps or offering driving lessons in my
great aunt s red Chrysler convertible to any number of prepubescent cousins.
The alcohol creates diversion but it also creates tensions. When my grandparents get tipsy, they start
snapping and ordering people around. I can see the wine begin to take effect on my grandma: the
corners of her mouth pull down into a sour pout. Sometimes she and my grandpa say things that

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Democracy In Mexico
Democracy is an essential factor in governance. If we govern democratically, we are likely to get more
gains in the society since everyone feels that they get fair treatment. Democracy, however, has its
weaknesses since it is not a perfect process. In this section, we are going to evaluate the strengths and
weaknesses of democracy in Mexico.
Strengths of democracy
Democracies allow people to select those that are governing them. After Salinas s leadership we see a
challenge of succession as he declares that he is not going to run for office. It also allows for nations
to create specific standards that a person must meet before they take leadership roles. The political
rule in Mexico was once renowned as the perfect dictatorship. The government was characterized by
regular elections, uninterrupted ruling by the same political party and widespread legitimacy. There
was no freedom or fairness with regards to political activism. Participation in politics was only
encouraged when it offered support to the ruling party, and there was repression when the objective of
political participation was initiating change. But with democracy in Mexico, there were changes in the
way of ruling. The reforms encouraged the opposition party to challenge the ruling party, and there
were a lot of opportunities for Mexicans to engage in political activism. A combination of ... Show

Emotional Intelligence And Criminal Behavior
There has been a considerable number of emotional intelligence studies done on a variety of
disciplines such as psychology, sociology and criminology. For many decades, criminal behavior has
been studied by these disciplines. Recently, these studies have focus on the relationship of criminal
behavior, with intelligence and personality traits. There also exists a large number of studies that
evaluate the emotional intelligence of both, transgressors and non offenders. However, a small amount
of these studies explore the transgressor population. In the cases where the studies consider felons as
direct variables, the results have been inconsistent. Perhaps, two of the major problems with these
studies, resides in the low sample taken into consideration, as well as, the non disparity of offences
committed. The author of the article Emotional Intelligence and Criminal Behavior assesses the
connection between emotional intelligence (EI) and criminal behavior. This research concentrates on
the emotional intelligence of transgressors. Centering its attention on the deficiencies expresses above,

According to Stiff (1994), listeners will have confidence in you and your words if they think you care
about their welfare, and have a good character. Another persuasive speaking that applied to the speech
is Pathos. Pathos is an emotion of sympathetic pity and how you evoking emotions to your audience.
(Dlugan, 2010) In the speech, it is obvious to see that Rudd was emotionally touched and sad about
the tragedy that happened in the past. By seeing the fact, it was the real life example; it does bring him
emotionally into the situation. To the stolen generations, I say the following: as Prime Minister of
Australia, I am sorry. On behalf of the government of Australia, I am Sorry (Rudd, 2008). According
to Cockroft Cockroft (2005, p.182), repetition is the major resource of schematic rhetoric and it is the
spontaneous expression of emotion. In the speech, Rudd often mentioned the word Sorry and Future .
Repetition is an effective technique that Rudd used during the speech. It is used successfully to
maintain the situation and grabbing the attention of audience. Speaking as a third person, the word We
are sorry that been repeated by Rudd during the speech are not referring only to the speakers but also
to the nation.
On my point of view, I agree on how Rudd has taken the right choice and I was also fascinated by his
courage to apologize to the public for the better future of his citizens. However, I did search about the

Women s Struggle Against Male Dominance
It is not anything new for women to be looked down upon. Women have been seen as inferior to their
male counterparts. Yet, the patriarchy has brainwashed women to believe that they have to seek out a
romantic, male partner. The patriarchy also has brainwashed women to stay quiet when her romantic
partner is speaking negatively towards her or about her. At least, that is what many people seem to
believe. There are women who are trying to fight against the war on male dominance. Even if these
women are catching other women s attention, there is still a long road until women and men are
equals. Some men are still going to speak poorly towards women, and often those they see as a lover
or romance partner. Even Aristotle spoke poorly of women and felt that men held the dominant role in
the relationship. Some heterosexual men speak negatively about heterosexual women during the
dating stage of a relationship because these men feel that they have to reinforce dominance in the
relationship. One thing to consider when talking about modern day heterosexual women in relation to
men is culture. Cultural differences in different countries varies. Like F. Scott Christopher, liberal arts
and Science professor at Arizona State University says, [T]he rules of relationship and the meaning of
aggression in a relationship may vary from culture to culture (qtd. Goodwin 769). Culture has a major
effect on how relationships are conducted. So what Americans consider is aggressive, may not be

In my analysis, I will draw conclusions from scholarly sources and news articles, as well as look at
both sides of the matter from different philosopher s points of view. I will conclude by recommending
what I think should happen and look to the future of both scenarios. In order to examine the effects of
excessive CEO pay on the company s stakeholders, one must define the two terms. Russell S.
Whelton, a former graduate student at Saginaw Valley State University, defines excessive pay as,
compensation that is 20% or greater than the national average CEO salary (Whelton 15). Therefore,
excessive pay would constitute compensation over $13.8 million per year (Chamberlain). A
stakeholder is anyone who is directly affected by the performance of an organization and thereby,
holds a stake in that company (Schermerhorn 73). Some examples of stakeholders are directors,
shareholders, executive officers, and all employees. It is important to understand why executive
officers are compensated at the high levels they are today to determine the benefits and disadvantages
of the argument. The purpose of compensation at any higher level is to attempt to ensure that
management actions result in successful performance for the firm (Ashley and Yang 369). Possible
excessive compensation can be a result

Pope John Paul II is remembered for being a great Pope, working through hardships, and canonizing
several of our wonderful Catholic saints. St. Pope John Paul II said, As the family goes, so does the

in having the right to do what we ought. Do not abandon yourself in despair. We are the Easter people

Executive Order Persuasive Essay
President Trump signed an executive order on Thursday, the same day that thousands commemorated
the National Day of Prayer, that claimed to vigorously enforce Federal law s robust protections for
religious freedom. The order, titled the Presidential Executive Order Promoting Free Speech and
Religious Liberty, requires the Secretary of the Treasury to not take any adverse action against those
who speak out about moral or political issues from a religious perspective. It also requires the
Secretary of the Treasury and the Secretary of Labor to consider issuing amended regulations,
consistent with applicable law, to address conscience based objections to the Obamacare mandate
requiring companies to provide coverage for birth control. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are giving our churches their voices back and we are giving them back in the highest form.
Though the order was meant to fulfill Trump s campaign promise to repeal the Johnson Amendment of
1954, which prohibits tax exempt organizations from endorsing or actively opposing political
candidates, a recent study has shown that most Americans and Christians do not believe religious
leaders should endorse or oppose political candidates from the pulpit. A LifeWay Research study has
shown that almost 80 percent of Americans disagreed with the idea that it is appropriate for pastors to
publicly endorse political candidates during a church service. Only 20 percent of Protestants, 13
percent of Catholics, and 25 percent of evangelicals supported the idea. Since the signing of the
executive order, many religious leaders have responded with disappointment that the bill has offered
individuals or organizations protection from penalties when they are acting on their religious
conscience. Still, some have expressed appreciation for the step taken by the

Narrative About Being Reaped
In a bright sunrise that adumbrated the potential that lay ahead, a field of corn seized my attention on
one summer run. Staring into the cornfield, I pondered which ones would be perfect enough to be
reaped. I realized, however, that many of them would be abandoned, because they succumbed to bugs,
contracted diseases, or were just inferior. My life was eerily representative of the plight of the corn. It
all commenced with a perverse inquiry: Hilton Head Island, a resort city on the Atlantic Ocean, is in
what state? I was mortified. I had never answered a question wrong in the school level geography bee
before. Earning top twelve in the states in fifth and sixth grade made me poised to possibly make
Nationals that year, resulting in high expectations from nearly everyone I knew. Hastily, I wrote down
my best educated guess, hoping that the boy I was facing (who incidentally bullied me incessantly
throughout middle school) would err as well. However, the corn in me that was about to be reaped was
thrown on the ground and forgotten. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My bully vanquished me and progressed to states, and my chances at a $25,000 scholarship dwindled.
The talent that separated me from everyone else did not just seem unspectacular; it was inferior. The
bully had taken control of my life, excluding me from the varsity math team although my scores were
better than half the team, and isolating me from all the friends I once had, leaving me aloof
everywhere I was. Suddenly, I was a failure, an unathletic nerd who wore effeminate clothing, and a
loser with no life. Mired in depression in subsequent years, I cried almost every night, refused to eat,
and lost all the confidence that I never had in me. I desperately needed to find a new talent, one that

Environmental Factors And Causes Of Climate Change In Kenya
Climate change in today s world has become of great concern due to its effects on the environment.
Globally, climate change has significantly influenced ecosystems and the existence of organisms. This
is further extending its effects to regional areas such as Kenya, whose ecosystem is not spared by the
changing climate. Despite having natural causes, Anthropogenic factors are widely increasing and
causing climate change undisputed. Therefore, human activities are the primary contributors to climate
change leading to stress and ecosystem strain, to continue providing for its services. In this report, I
discuss the summary of global climate change and regional focus on causes of climate change in
Kenya, its effects in ecosystem especially on the natural ecosystems, current measures to curb the
effects and the perception of the future ecosystem of the country.
Introduction
Climate change is defined as a change of climate that is attributed directly or indirectly to human
activity that alters the composition of the global atmosphere, and that is in addition to natural climate
variability observed over comparable time periods (UNFCC, 1992). (source(GoK, 2012). Which is
understood as the average change in weather patterns over an extended period, caused by both human
activities and natural factors. These factors include deforestation from increasing human population
and activities, industrialization, urbanization, volcanic eruptions, etc. These events lead to excess

Socrates Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living
The Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living When Socrates was being accused, he claimed that The
unexamined life is not worth living In the apology, Socrates did not use some special debating skills to

must be the improver of the citizens and he was important to others. In the apology, the bold statement
The unexamined life is not worth living have two meanings. On the one hand, Socrates wants to warn
the citizens to examine and reflect upon their own life by virtue and justice and get spirit growth. On
the other hand, compared with his own life, Socrates is more willing to examine himself and others
and discourse about virtue and the form of the world. Death can help him get away from the

To Infinity and Beyond! is Buzz Lightyear s famous catchphrase in the Toy Story films and the
standard definition is Without limits, limitless, sky s the limit but, hidden in this phrase is a deeper
philosophical meaning. Dr. Kent A. Bessey wrote about how the German mathematician Georg Cantor

mathematician was able to discover. Bessy states that Cantor discovered, a remarkable realm where
half of a pie is as large as the whole infinity comes in all different sizes, and miracles become

Comparing The Poem The Chimney Sweeper
The two poems that I chose to compare are The Chimney Sweeper poem from both Songs of
Innocence and the Songs of Experience.
When my mother died I was very young,
And my father sold me while yet my tongue
Could scarcely cry weep! weep! weep! weep!
So your chimneys I sweep in soot I sleep.
There s little Tom Dacre, who cried when his head
That curled like a lamb s back, was shaved, so I said,
Hush, Tom! never mind it, for when your head s bare,
You know that the soot cannot spoil your white hair.
And so he was quiet, that very night,
As Tom was a sleeping he had such a sight!
That thousands of sweepers, Dick, Joe, Ned, Jack,
Were all of them locked up in coffins of black;
And by came an Angel who had a bright key,
And he opened the coffins set them all free;
Then down a green plain, leaping, laughing they run,
And wash in a river and shine in the Sun.
Then naked white, all their bags left behind,
They rise upon clouds, and sport in the wind.
And the Angel told Tom, if he d be a good boy,
He d have God for his father never want joy.
And so Tom awoke; and we rose in the dark
And got with our bags our brushes to work.
Though the morning was cold, Tom was happy warm;
So if all do their duty, they need not fear harm.
The Chimney Sweeper from Innocence, to me, showed just that. Even though these little kids had to
climb up chimney every day and will probably eventually die from it, it ll all turn out fine because as
long as they re good,

Languages and Dialects of Spain
Spain: Languages and Dialects
With a population of approximately 45 million Spaniards and 3.5 million immigrants, Spain is a
country of contrasts where the richness of its culture blends it up with the variety of languages and
dialects used. Being one of the largest economies worldwide, and the second largest country in
Europe, Spain is a very appealing destination for tourists as well as for immigrants from around the
globe. Almost all Spaniards are used to speaking at least two different languages, but protecting and
preserving that right has not been easy for them; Spaniards have had to struggle with war, ignorance,
criticism and the governments, in order to preserve and defend what identifies them, and deal with the

Thanks to those efforts Catalans can be proud to acknowledge that their languages and dialects are the
most well kept, normalized and preserved in the country, their continuous fight since the very end of
war and their pride about using their language has giving them the courage to embrace and protect
both, their language and their identity in such way that, in Catalonia, Castilian is limited to those who
are foreigners and Catalan to natives.
Unfortunately, a very different thing has happened in Galicia and Basque Country; since, by the end of
war, the governments of both regions were more concerned about political affairs than preserving
languages. In Basque Country, the reason for these lack of protectionism towards language was the
persecution Basques suffer during the Civil War, they were accused of terrorism whenever they spoke
in their own language; they were hunted and killed for this reason, and all of these actions made them
a little afraid of protecting language even years after the end of war. Something similar happened in
Galicia, where there were no efforts to maintain language after the war. It was years later that
governments started to make efforts to preserve and rescue the language and to normalize it and make
it mandatory in each school around the region, but the accurate and pure versions of them got lost with
time and what new generations speak today is a mixture of old and new words adapted from the

Platon Antoniou
The photographer Platon Antoniou has many great works to his name, but some more interesting work
is how he captures raw emotion in face portraits of world leaders. Platon made the statement that the
world leaders are presented with a shroud of branding and propaganda (Platon: Photography). The
point of the portraits was to get up close with these leaders and show their personal and emotional side
through photographs (Platon: Photography). The two portraits that do this the best and show a contrast
of emotion are Muammar Gaddafi and George W. Bush. In Muammar Gaddafi s picture, Gaddafi
gives off an intimidating and menacing feeling. His eyes look almost lifeless and are staring down the
camera as if he is ready to start or take on a fight. Platon describes Gaddafi s eyes as having nothing to
them and seeming as if his soul had been taken (Witty). The left side of his lip is curling and his
nostrils are completely flared showing that he could be angry and agitated by something. Despite all
the agitation in his face, Gaddafi almost looks to be calm as if he is ready for anything that is going to
come his way. Platon says that in his view Gaddafi looked to be challenging America, which is a
reasonable assumption as during Gaddafi s tenure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

animosity and he only has a calm and joyful presence. Bush s face in this portrait is a good
representation of his overall happy and upbeat personality that most people are used to seeing.

Explaining the Idea of Ahimsa
To explain how Gandhi applied the idea of ahimsa to modern times, I will first define ahimsa and then
explore ahimsa in the Jain religion more extensively. I will then discuss how Gandhi practiced this
concept in life. Ahimsa is a Sanskrit term equivalent to a not or without hiṁsā injury, which when
translated means the principle of non injury to living beings .
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Ahimsa. The supreme principle in Jainism is non violence
(ahimsa). It also plays an important role in Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, and other
religions, but Jainism is unique in this principle because it demonstrates it to all living beings. Jains
believe that everything has the ability to suffer, even non living things such as rocks, fire, and oil.
Therefore ahimsa must include everything on earth. This view of reality, called hylozoism (Greek:
matter alive ) may be quite ancient (Malloy 186). Karma is also an important concept in Jainism being
closely connected to reincarnation, liberation (moksha), and ahimsa. Reincarnation is sometimes
called transmigration of the soul, believing that the soul experiences rebirths of different kinds of lives
human, animal or even supernatural until it reaches its final destination. http://www.world religions

level of rebirth is determined automatically according to one s state of karma at the time of death of

The Antarctic Krill s Decline
Study conducted by British Antarctic Survey in 2004 emphasized that Antarctic krill numbers are
declining. Krill are very significant to the Antarctic food web and this decline could threaten whales,
seals and penguins all of which rely on krill. The decline of krill has been associated to a intense
decline in sea ice, their habita. Sea ice is a vigorous feeding ground for the enormous number of krill
in the Southern Ocean. The research shows that krill decreased by about 80% since the 1970s. Krill
feed on the algae which are found under the surface of the sea ice. The Antarctic Peninsula, an
important breeding ground for the krill, has experienced an unusual shrinkage of sea ice. It has been
intensely advocated that enhanced UV B radiation

Student Expression And Language And Body Language
Student Expression Often times, students cannot recognize the line between free speech and hateful
speaking because it is blurred for them. They have long been taught that free speech is our born right,
tride and true. However, some students take it too far with their words. When this is brought up, many
students bring it up as their opinion, or use the free speech card. Many people are worried that
students will lose their right to free speech if their expression is restricted. However, to make schools a
better environment things need to change. Student expression should be restricted in language and
body language, in clothing, and on the internet.
Students are unique in every shape and form. However, there are many ways that students can express
themselves in both language and body language. Students today come up with many new words for
different uses, and that varies almost every few months. These words however may not always be
politically correct around others. If a student is caught using a word that disrespects or offends another
student or an adult, the offending student should be penalized for this. If the student is allowed to
continue saying those offensive words they will begin to think that it is alright to say them. Hate will
become engrained in their minds and they will pass this on to others. Students often think it is funny to
make racist remarks in passing in the halls, or during classes when teachers do not hear. Students who
do this should most

nation as a whole and why Hillary Clinton should be the next president of the United States of
America. As I listen to this speech I realized that Michelle Obama uses rhetorical devices and appeals
throughout this entire speech, and frankly since her purpose is to persuade the people of the this
country to vote for Hillary I think Michelle Obama took the right approach. I get a strong sense of
honesty from the first lady as she talks about why Ms. Clinton is worthy enough to take on the mantle
of leadership for our great nation. After listening to my speech multiple times I notice how Michelle
Obama also uses amplification, which is the expansion of detail to clarify a point. Then as I continued
to listen to the speech I also realized how the first lady also uses anaphora, which is the repetition of
one or more words at the head of consecutive phrases, clauses, or sentences. Next I saw how the first
lady utilizes both ethos and pathos to help convince the citizens of America that Hillary Clinton
deserves their vote. Through the use of these rhetorical devices and appeals, Mrs. Obama s speech is
made very strong and convincing. From the very first time I heard this speech, I quickly noticed that
Michelle approach is using pathos as she tries to appeal to the emotion of the

Why I Want To Be An Assistant Superintendent
Career and Leadership Goals The ultimate career position that I would like to acquire is to become an
assistant superintendent. This position would allow me to have an immense impact on the lives of the

change the lives of as many teachers, principals, and students as I possibly can over the duration of my
career. Being an assistant superintendent gives me the opportunity to see this goal come to fruition.

to gain some experience as a building principal. I have already taken and passed the School Leader s

Analysis Of Ma Mute LOye
The next movement of Ma mère l Oye, Les Entretiens de la Belle et de la Bête, is the third dream
sequences the princess has while she is asleep. This movement is based off of the story of
conversations between Beauty and the Beast. The quote from the story that Ravel was inspired to
write to is: When I think how, kind hearted you are, you don t seem so ugly. Yes, it is true, I have a
kind heart. Still, I am a beast. Many men are more beastly than you. If I were witty I would think up a
fine compliment by way of thanks, but I am only a beast. Beauty, will you be my wife? No, Beast! I
die happy because I have had the pleasure of seeing you again. No, my dear Beast, you shall not die.
You shall live to be my husband! The Beast vanished and at her feet she saw a prince as beautiful as
the God of Love. The prince thanked her for breaking the spell laid upon him. (Gene De Lisa article)
When the movement begins Beauty is portrayed by solo clarinet with a graceful waltz, this creates the
pictures of a young beautiful princess wander and prancing around the castle. Throughout the piece
Beauty moves between the instruments of solo flute then solo oboe. She is depicted in these light
dance like melodies to give the audience an image of her. She is a young princess who remains
positive and bring love into the Beast s heart. In contrast to light beautiful melodies of Beauty, Beast is
depicted as a ponderous and awkward contrabassoon. When the Beast melodies

The Word-Pregnancy Model Of The Logogen Model
Word recognition is the reader s ability to correctly identify words without needing contextual aid.
People tend to recognize words faster if they are more frequent (i.e. more common in their everyday
language), a psychological phenomenon known as the word frequency effect. An example of a high
frequency word is the , whereas promiscuous , for instance, is a low frequency word. Similarly, people
tend to be better at correctly recognizing letters within words compared to isolated letters and to
orthographically illegal strings (i.e. nonwords, such as SUT ). This is known as the word superiority
effect.
Many models attempt to explain the different phenomena that arose as a result of studying reading.
The logogen model (Morton, 1969) aims to explain the word frequency effect in terms of low or high
thresholds. Each logogen contains a number of characteristics about given words, such as meaning,
appearance and sound. A logogen will be activated by psychological stimuli or contextual information
that triggers the most characteristics. When the activation level rises above the threshold level, that
word is selected. As there is no comparison between logogens, more than one response can be
triggered by one stimulus. High frequency words (those most commonly used), have a lower
threshold, meaning that they require less perceptual power to recognize and decode from the mental
lexicon, than low frequency words. Once the threshold is fired, the meaning

Recording Guitar And A Dynamic Cardioid Microphone
Recording guitar is rarely ever as easy as sloppily plopping down whatever mic s handy at the moment
in front of the speaker grille and hitting record. Majority would even argue that mic choice and
placement only play bit parts in a larger production that involves pre amps, guitar amps, cable length,
A/D D/A converters, tracking through a console clean vis a vis applying processing going in, and of
course, the choice of guitar itself! Instead of writing a fully comprehensive work (and a very, very
long discussion and debate), this article aims to address some basic guitar micing technique using a
dynamic cardioid microphone (such as the venerable SM57) and a condenser (such as a Neumann
u87). 1 mic technique If the situation calls for using one microphone, you can position your dynamic
mic either as close to the speaker grille cloth as possible (less ambiance) or 3 6 inches away, either
pointing to the center of the cone or off axis. Listen through your monitors how the speaker sounds
like, and change cones if you aren t satisfied (as in the case of a marshall 4x12). Once you ve decided
on which cone to record, fine tune the guitar sound by angling the mic towards or away from the
center of the cone as it makes a difference in the tone coming into your recording. A condenser is
generally placed a bit farther because of its higher sensitivity (and in some cases, lower clipping point
with regard to SPL handling). 2 mic technique Applying the technique above, one may

Paragraph 1 (introduction and thesis) Thesis not included From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia This
article is about the psychological phenomenon. For the bystander effect in radiobiology, see Bystander

  • 2. • 3. The Pros And Cons Of Poverty Trap What drives poverty? First, how does one country consider itself living in extremely poor conditions? This can be answered by using tools like PPP or GDP per capita to distinguish between poor and rich countries. However, the purpose of this paper is not to discuss which country has the highest GDP, but rather to discuss the ability the poor obtain to boost their way out of poverty. Are there certain limitations that poor people face that refrain them from growing or is it just that the poor will always be poor? This paper will summarize main arguments of mechanisms that give rise to poverty traps from the article, Do Poverty Traps Exist. Based on these summaries, I will conduct further critical reviews on some and provide evidence to back my opinion on the specific mechanism at hand. To begin, one of the arguments first presented in the article give light to saving based poverty traps. If one does not have enough money to save, they cannot achieve sufficient capital so in turn, their incomes become stagnant. However, the study in the article argues that the saving rates do increase from low levels of development. So in some cases, this poverty trap does not exist. Secondly, the article also argues that a big push to the manufacturing sector can result in high returns and high income levels in both the modern sector and traditional sector. While, only investing in the traditional sector, which consists of agriculture, will only provide equalized wages at a low level ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Each building serves different purposes for the church. The first building I saw was the visitors center. Here I learned about the basics and fundamentals of the church and their religion. The second building I saw was the Tabernacle which is the home of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Here is where the choir practices and performs. The next building I saw was the Assembly Hall. The guide did not explain the purpose of this building, but I am assuming that it is for meetings and activities. While walking, we saw the Church Office Building which is the home of the church s world headquarters of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. This building is 28 stories and helps facilitate church functions throughout the world. While touring the beautiful temple square, I saw and learned many things about the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints that I had not known before. After we arrived at the North Visitors Center, we were immediately greeted by many of the Mormon missionaries. The men were wearing a black suit with a button up shirt and the women were wearing a blouse with leggings and a skirt that extends past the knees. Yet, the patriarchy has brainwashed women to believe that they have to seek out a romantic, male partner. The patriarchy also has brainwashed women to stay quiet when her romantic partner is speaking negatively towards her or about her. At least, that is what many people seem to believe. There are women who are trying to fight against the war on male dominance. Even if these women are catching other women s attention, there is still a long road until women and men are equals. Some men are still going to speak poorly towards women, and often those they see as a lover or romance partner. Even Aristotle spoke poorly of women and felt that men held the dominant role in the relationship. Some heterosexual men speak negatively about heterosexual women during the dating stage of a relationship because these men feel that they have to reinforce dominance in the relationship. One thing to consider when talking about modern day heterosexual women in relation to men is culture. Cultural differences in different countries varies. Like F. Scott Christopher, liberal arts and Science professor at Arizona State University says, [T]he rules of relationship and the meaning of aggression in a relationship may vary from culture to culture (qtd. I will conclude by recommending what I think should happen and look to the future of both scenarios. In order to examine the effects of excessive CEO pay on the company s stakeholders, one must define the two terms. Russell S. Whelton, a former graduate student at Saginaw Valley State University, defines excessive pay as, compensation that is 20% or greater than the national average CEO salary (Whelton 15). Therefore, excessive pay would constitute compensation over $13.8 million per year (Chamberlain). A stakeholder is anyone who is directly affected by the performance of an organization and thereby, holds a stake in that company (Schermerhorn 73). Some examples of stakeholders are directors, shareholders, executive officers, and all employees. When my mother died I was very young, And my father sold me while yet my tongue Could scarcely cry weep! weep! weep! weep! So your chimneys I sweep in soot I sleep. There s little Tom Dacre, who cried when his head That curled like a lamb s back, was shaved, so I said, Hush, Tom! never mind it, for when your head s bare, You know that the soot cannot spoil your white hair. And so he was quiet, that very night, As Tom was a sleeping he had such a sight! That thousands of sweepers, Dick, Joe, Ned, Jack, Were all of them locked up in coffins of black; And by came an Angel who had a bright key, And he opened the coffins set them all free; Then down a green plain, leaping, laughing they run, And wash in a river and shine in the Sun. Then naked white, all their bags left behind, They rise upon clouds, and sport in the wind. And the Angel told Tom, if he d be a good boy, He d have God for his father never want joy. And so Tom awoke; and we rose in the dark And got with our bags our brushes to work. Though the morning was cold, Tom was happy warm; So if all do their duty, they need not fear harm. The Chimney Sweeper from Innocence, to me, showed just that. Even though these little kids had to climb up chimney every day and will probably eventually die from it, it ll all turn out fine because as long as they re good, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unfortunately, a very different thing has happened in Galicia and Basque Country; since, by the end of war, the governments of both regions were more concerned about political affairs than preserving languages. In Basque Country, the reason for these lack of protectionism towards language was the persecution Basques suffer during the Civil War, they were accused of terrorism whenever they spoke in their own language; they were hunted and killed for this reason, and all of these actions made them a little afraid of protecting language even years after the end of war. Something similar happened in Galicia, where there were no efforts to maintain language after the war. • 33. Platon Antoniou The photographer Platon Antoniou has many great works to his name, but some more interesting work is how he captures raw emotion in face portraits of world leaders. Platon made the statement that the world leaders are presented with a shroud of branding and propaganda (Platon: Photography). The point of the portraits was to get up close with these leaders and show their personal and emotional side through photographs (Platon: Photography). The two portraits that do this the best and show a contrast of emotion are Muammar Gaddafi and George W. Bush. In Muammar Gaddafi s picture, Gaddafi gives off an intimidating and menacing feeling. His eyes look almost lifeless and are staring down the camera as if he is ready to start or take on a fight. Platon describes Gaddafi s eyes as having nothing to them and seeming as if his soul had been taken (Witty). The left side of his lip is curling and his nostrils are completely flared showing that he could be angry and agitated by something. Despite all the agitation in his face, Gaddafi almost looks to be calm as if he is ready for anything that is going to come his way. Platon says that in his view Gaddafi looked to be challenging America, which is a reasonable assumption as during Gaddafi s tenure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 34. Explaining the Idea of Ahimsa To explain how Gandhi applied the idea of ahimsa to modern times, I will first define ahimsa and then explore ahimsa in the Jain religion more extensively. I will then discuss how Gandhi practiced this concept in life. Ahimsa is a Sanskrit term equivalent to a not or without hiṁsā injury, which when translated means the principle of non injury to living beings . http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Ahimsa. The supreme principle in Jainism is non violence (ahimsa). It also plays an important role in Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, and other religions, but Jainism is unique in this principle because it demonstrates it to all living beings. Jains believe that everything has the ability to suffer, even non living things such as rocks, fire, and oil. Therefore ahimsa must include everything on earth. This view of reality, called hylozoism (Greek: matter alive ) may be quite ancient (Malloy 186). Karma is also an important concept in Jainism being closely connected to reincarnation, liberation (moksha), and ahimsa. Reincarnation is sometimes called transmigration of the soul, believing that the soul experiences rebirths of different kinds of lives human, animal or even supernatural until it reaches its final destination. http://www.world religions professor.com/reincarnation karma.html. They have long been taught that free speech is our born right, tride and true. However, some students take it too far with their words. When this is brought up, many students bring it up as their opinion, or use the free speech card. Many people are worried that students will lose their right to free speech if their expression is restricted. However, to make schools a better environment things need to change. Student expression should be restricted in language and body language, in clothing, and on the internet. Students are unique in every shape and form. However, there are many ways that students can express themselves in both language and body language. Students today come up with many new words for different uses, and that varies almost every few months. These words however may not always be politically correct around others. If a student is caught using a word that disrespects or offends another student or an adult, the offending student should be penalized for this. If the student is allowed to continue saying those offensive words they will begin to think that it is alright to say them. As I listen to this speech I realized that Michelle Obama uses rhetorical devices and appeals throughout this entire speech, and frankly since her purpose is to persuade the people of the this country to vote for Hillary I think Michelle Obama took the right approach. I get a strong sense of honesty from the first lady as she talks about why Ms. Clinton is worthy enough to take on the mantle of leadership for our great nation. After listening to my speech multiple times I notice how Michelle Obama also uses amplification, which is the expansion of detail to clarify a point. Then as I continued to listen to the speech I also realized how the first lady also uses anaphora, which is the repetition of one or more words at the head of consecutive phrases, clauses, or sentences. Next I saw how the first lady utilizes both ethos and pathos to help convince the citizens of America that Hillary Clinton deserves their vote. This movement is based off of the story of conversations between Beauty and the Beast. The quote from the story that Ravel was inspired to write to is: When I think how, kind hearted you are, you don t seem so ugly. Yes, it is true, I have a kind heart. Still, I am a beast. Many men are more beastly than you. If I were witty I would think up a fine compliment by way of thanks, but I am only a beast. Beauty, will you be my wife? No, Beast! I die happy because I have had the pleasure of seeing you again. No, my dear Beast, you shall not die. You shall live to be my husband! The Beast vanished and at her feet she saw a prince as beautiful as the God of Love. The prince thanked her for breaking the spell laid upon him. (Gene De Lisa article) When the movement begins Beauty is portrayed by solo clarinet with a graceful waltz, this creates the pictures of a young beautiful princess wander and prancing around the castle. Throughout the piece Beauty moves between the instruments of solo flute then solo oboe. She is depicted in these light dance like melodies to give the audience an image of her. She is a young princess who remains positive and bring love into the Beast s heart. In contrast to light beautiful melodies of Beauty, Beast is depicted as a ponderous and awkward contrabassoon. • 41. The Word-Pregnancy Model Of The Logogen Model Word recognition is the reader s ability to correctly identify words without needing contextual aid. People tend to recognize words faster if they are more frequent (i.e. more common in their everyday language), a psychological phenomenon known as the word frequency effect. An example of a high frequency word is the , whereas promiscuous , for instance, is a low frequency word. Similarly, people tend to be better at correctly recognizing letters within words compared to isolated letters and to orthographically illegal strings (i.e. nonwords, such as SUT ). This is known as the word superiority effect. Many models attempt to explain the different phenomena that arose as a result of studying reading. The logogen model (Morton, 1969) aims to explain the word frequency effect in terms of low or high thresholds. Each logogen contains a number of characteristics about given words, such as meaning, appearance and sound. A logogen will be activated by psychological stimuli or contextual information that triggers the most characteristics. When the activation level rises above the threshold level, that word is selected. As there is no comparison between logogens, more than one response can be triggered by one stimulus. High frequency words (those most commonly used), have a lower threshold, meaning that they require less perceptual power to recognize and decode from the mental lexicon, than low frequency words. Once the threshold is fired, the meaning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Recording Guitar And A Dynamic Cardioid Microphone Recording guitar is rarely ever as easy as sloppily plopping down whatever mic s handy at the moment in front of the speaker grille and hitting record. Majority would even argue that mic choice and placement only play bit parts in a larger production that involves pre amps, guitar amps, cable length, A/D D/A converters, tracking through a console clean vis a vis applying processing going in, and of course, the choice of guitar itself! Instead of writing a fully comprehensive work (and a very, very long discussion and debate), this article aims to address some basic guitar micing technique using a dynamic cardioid microphone (such as the venerable SM57) and a condenser (such as a Neumann u87). 1 mic technique If the situation calls for using one microphone, you can position your dynamic mic either as close to the speaker grille cloth as possible (less ambiance) or 3 6 inches away, either pointing to the center of the cone or off axis. Listen through your monitors how the speaker sounds like, and change cones if you aren t satisfied (as in the case of a marshall 4x12). Once you ve decided on which cone to record, fine tune the guitar sound by angling the mic towards or away from the center of the cone as it makes a difference in the tone coming into your recording. A condenser is generally placed a bit farther because of its higher sensitivity (and in some cases, lower clipping point with regard to SPL handling). 2 mic technique Applying the technique above, one may ...
