General Description
The respondent will upgrade the existing Public Address
System with the most current hardware/software
components including, text for display on video monitor,
text to audio, and audio to audio paging for Terminals,
1,2,3,and 5, Bus Shuttle Center, ATS, ATS Control Center,
Pedestrian Tunnels, EPS and outdoor parking lots. The
respondent will evaluate the existing systems and reuse
existing infrastructure i. e., speakers, speaker cabling,
conduit and ambient noise sensors. The existing zone code
identification should be retained and/or combined with
new zones required. Visual Paging for the Hearing Impaired
will be provided in all Terminal areas. Additionally, system
will be in compliance with all ADA and CDA requirements.

General Description
Project will include the reconfiguration of the 55th and
Laramie Gate and the replacement of the 63rd and
Laramie Guard Booth. Scope will include guard booth

General Description
The project will include the Rehabilitation of Runway
4L-22R . The scope will include a mill and overlay of the
existing runway, widening of shoulders, installation of

General Description
In order to maintain both airside and landside
infrastructure, the CDA requires the flexibility to use on-
call fixed price term contracts. This contract is for
removal and replacement of Portland Cement Concrete
and concrete structures at O’Hare within the terminal
aprons. Aircraft parking gates within the concourse
aprons are closed for limited durations to allow for the
replacement of failed slabs.

General Description

General Description
Scope of work includes the use of helical piles adjacent to the
toe of the footing and anchoring the helical pile system to the
concrete toe. Structural and cosmetic concrete repairs will be
utilized in areas where the concrete has delaminated or
where the wall has large cracks. Weep holes will be provided
to allow trapped water to release onto the roadway instead
of contributing to the deterioration of the wall. A new
concrete cap will replace the existing one and a new coat of
elastomeric paint will cover the entire wall. This project is
unfunded at this time.

General Description
The current CCTV system has limited capability (due to
their locations and limited quantity) to support detection,
analysis or monitoring of potential threats to this large
international airport. This scope of work will expand the
current CCTV system and will enhance security activities
within the terminal buildings without an increase in
human resources.

General Description
This project, currently in planning, includes the milling and bituminous overlay of the portion of the runway that has asphalt
surface as well as the adjacent taxiways up to the mandatory hold bar. The in-pavement runway lights and bases including
runway centerline, runway touchdown zone, LAHSO, runway edge, and taxiway centerline will be removed and replaced.
New conduit connecting these lights will also be replaced along with the lighting cable for each circuit – including a new
home run to the North Lighting Control Vault.

General Description
Full reconstruction of Taxiway NN between Taxiway M and
the proposed NE Cargo Apron Taxilane. This includes
approximately 1500 lf of Portland Cement Concrete (PCC)
taxiway 75 foot wide with 30 foot bituminous shoulders.
The taxiway is designed to accommodate aircraft as large
as the Boeing 747-8 and will be designed to FAA Taxiway
Design Group (TDG) 6 standards. The portion of taxiway
north of the Apron Taxilane will only receive a 3” mill and
bituminous overlay on the existing pavement.

General Description
This project will provide the design and construction of a series of terminal improvements which will allow the Airbus A380
to effectively load and unload passengers at O’Hare International Airport. The designer is tasked with validating the design
criteria and evaluating the terminals ticketing hall, security check point, departure lounges / holdrooms, passenger loading
bridges, arrival passenger processing, and baggage handling / baggage claim areas. The evaluation will confirm whether
any modifications are necessary to maintain the existing level of service. Based on the design criteria analysis findings and
planning evaluations, an overall building master plan and three options for gate improvements will be developed to 30%
with one selected to progress to move forward. Construction is anticipated to commence early 2016.

General Description
This project involves the replacement of Chillers 1, 2, 3, 4
and 5 with equipment of industrial grade quality. Chillers 1,
2, 3, and 4 presently use the ozone-depleting refrigerant R-
114 which is not readily available. Chillers 1, 2, 3, and 4
would be replaced with new chillers that use the non-
ozone-depleting refrigerant R-134A. The other five chillers
at the airport’s H&R Plant already use the non-ozone
depleting refrigerant R-134A.

General Description
The design will include upgrades to the restrooms at
Terminal 1, Concourse B, next to Gate B6, Concourse C
adjacent to Gate C12, and Terminal 3, adjacent to Gate
K6. the upgrades includes: 1) a functional layout
reconfiguration to allow for an overall increase in toilet
fixture counts, 2) improved accessibility; better interior
passenger circulation; improved access to utility
chases, 3) improved finish materials and products for
ease of maintenance and high durability, 4) improved
ventilation; improved lighting which may include
natural lighting sources, 5) increase use of sustainable

General Description
The scope of the work will include removal and
replacement of the existing 10” PCC pavement,
excavation and replacement of the stone base, excavation
of poor soils, re-compaction, re-grading of existing
subgrade, curb and gutter replacement, sidewalk
replacement, adjustments of utility structures and
replacement as necessary to maintain the drainage
system surrounding the building. The limits of pavement
replacement have been developed with consideration of

The project will include an upgrade to the Central
Heating & Refrigeration Plant (CHRP) for an additional

The work scope includes extending the curb front 6 feet
adding sidewalk and creating more space for the traveling
public. With this extension the pavement removal would

General Description
Design, fabricate and install a Static Large Frame Aircraft
(LFA) mockup in front of the current mockup (Burn Pit
Remains Same Size). The O’Hare’s Aircraft Rescue and
Fire Fighting (ARFF) training facilities current mockup is
based on a narrow body aircraft. It is considerably
smaller than aircraft ARFF personnel actually face

General Description
The scope of this project includes an initial investigation
of the existing conditions that will recommend a multi-
system approach. As part of the process, the vendor
will analyze the H&R Plant and design a system that will
be applicable to the existing equipment in the space.
New technologies in fire suppression allow industrial
spaces such as the plant to be protected without
jeopardizing the critical equipment in this building.
This project is only for a fire protection system which
does not include fire alarm, fire separation, or life safety
systems. Installation is anticipated to commence early
2016.

General Description The respondent will upgrade the existing Public Address System with the most current hardware/software components including, text for display on video monitor, text to audio, and audio to audio paging for Terminals, 1,2,3,and 5, Bus Shuttle Center, ATS, ATS Control Center, Pedestrian Tunnels, EPS and outdoor parking lots. The respondent will evaluate the existing systems and reuse existing infrastructure i. e., speakers, speaker cabling, conduit and ambient noise sensors.   • 8. General Description In order to maintain both airside and landside infrastructure, the CDA requires the flexibility to use on- call fixed price term contracts. This contract is for removal and replacement of Portland Cement Concrete and concrete structures at O’Hare within the terminal aprons. Aircraft parking gates within the concourse aprons are closed for limited durations to allow for the replacement of failed slabs.   • 11. General Description Scope of work includes the use of helical piles adjacent to the toe of the footing and anchoring the helical pile system to the concrete toe. Structural and cosmetic concrete repairs will be utilized in areas where the concrete has delaminated or where the wall has large cracks. Weep holes will be provided to allow trapped water to release onto the roadway instead of contributing to the deterioration of the wall. A new concrete cap will replace the existing one and a new coat of elastomeric paint will cover the entire wall. This project is unfunded at this time. General Description The current CCTV system has limited capability (due to their locations and limited quantity) to support detection, analysis or monitoring of potential threats to this large international airport. This scope of work will expand the current CCTV system and will enhance security activities within the terminal buildings without an increase in human resources.   • 13. General Description The scope will involve concrete repairs of the ring and utility tunnels in the order they have been prioritized in the Task Order. Repairs may include but are not limited to beam repair, waterproofing, shoring, utility protection, and utility repairs. General Description This project, currently in planning, includes the milling and bituminous overlay of the portion of the runway that has asphalt surface as well as the adjacent taxiways up to the mandatory hold bar. The in-pavement runway lights and bases including runway centerline, runway touchdown zone, LAHSO, runway edge, and taxiway centerline will be removed and replaced. New conduit connecting these lights will also be replaced along with the lighting cable for each circuit – including a new home run to the North Lighting Control Vault. Major Work Items and Estimated Quantities  Concrete Pavement 13,500 SY  Asphalt Pavement 12,000 Tons  8” PVC Under Drain 2,500 LF  Power Cable 4,000 LF General Description Full reconstruction of Taxiway NN between Taxiway M and the proposed NE Cargo Apron Taxilane. This includes approximately 1500 lf of Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) taxiway 75 foot wide with 30 foot bituminous shoulders. The taxiway is designed to accommodate aircraft as large as the Boeing 747-8 and will be designed to FAA Taxiway Design Group (TDG) 6 standards. The portion of taxiway north of the Apron Taxilane will only receive a 3” mill and bituminous overlay on the existing pavement. Major Work Items  Demolition  Pavement Rehabilitation  Concrete Rehabilitation  Carpentry  Electrical and Plumbing General Description This project will provide the design and construction of a series of terminal improvements which will allow the Airbus A380 to effectively load and unload passengers at O’Hare International Airport. The designer is tasked with validating the design criteria and evaluating the terminals ticketing hall, security check point, departure lounges / holdrooms, passenger loading bridges, arrival passenger processing, and baggage handling / baggage claim areas. The evaluation will confirm whether any modifications are necessary to maintain the existing level of service. Based on the design criteria analysis findings and planning evaluations, an overall building master plan and three options for gate improvements will be developed to 30% with one selected to progress to move forward. Construction is anticipated to commence early 2016.   • 31. General Description Design, fabricate and install a Static Large Frame Aircraft (LFA) mockup in front of the current mockup (Burn Pit Remains Same Size). The O’Hare’s Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) training facilities current mockup is based on a narrow body aircraft. It is considerably smaller than aircraft ARFF personnel actually face throughout day-to-day operations. The LFA mockup will be approximately 70 feet long, 20 feet in diameter, and 35 feet high with an option for wings extending 50 feet from the center of the mockup.   • 32. General Description The scope of this project includes an initial investigation of the existing conditions that will recommend a multi- system approach. As part of the process, the vendor will analyze the H&R Plant and design a system that will be applicable to the existing equipment in the space. New technologies in fire suppression allow industrial spaces such as the plant to be protected without jeopardizing the critical equipment in this building. This project is only for a fire protection system which does not include fire alarm, fire separation, or life safety systems. Installation is anticipated to commence early 2016.
