Research Paper On Mount Olympus
There was a place high up in the sky called Mount Olympus which is located right above the tallest
mountain in the world. This is where all the gods and their children lived. Ezra lived with her father,
Philip, and her boyfriend, Hercules. Hercules and Ezra had been forced to marry, even though Ezra
did not like the idea. Ezra was treated the best by the gods because of her beauty and humans, or
mortals, who were not gods, also loved her. At this time, the gods were all split because of a big
argument they had. Some gods, like Cynthia, Adonis, and Beza thought that the gods should start to
bring up mortals to turn them into gods and they can live on Mount Olympus. The other gods like
Philip, Devin, and Zoe thought that only the gods living ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He ate the food he packed very slowly because he did not know how long it would take to get there
and if it took a long time, he wanted to save it. He drank the water quickly because there was many
streams with fresh water he could drink if he runs out. On the second day, Logan felt disgusting so he
decided to bathe in one of the streams. While he was bathing, a strange wind came towards him and
turned into a ghost right in front of him. This ghost looked old and Logan recognized the ghost, his
father had told him about the ghost before. This ghost was Fletcher, who told people prophecies that
always came true.
Hello, I have come to tell you about what the future holds for you. You will make it to Side 2
tomorrow, but getting into where Ezra lives will be extremely hard. You have to go around the guards
and to Ezra s side bedroom window. She knows that you are coming and is so excited to meet you.
She already broke off the marriage between her and Hercules so you won t have to worry about that.
She has all of her stuff ready so get ready to get out of Side 2 as quickly as you can. When you get to
the edge of Mount Olympus there will be a hard decision to make. To make it down to the real world,
one of you has to die to let the other one live. I wish you the best of luck, Fletcher said and drifted

It is my great pleasure to announce to all of you that effective in the next month (February) I will give
a monthly safety award of $100 to the individual branch employee at any level of the branch who
comes up with the best, most useful suggestion related to safety in any part of the branch activities.
Today I will take the action of placing a suggestion box on the wall of the lunchroom so that all of you
will have an easy way to place suggestions for safety into the pipeline and to be considered. As an
attachment to the memo you are now reading from me, I have provided you with a copy of the form

Chicano Park History
The most significant number of outdoor mural art in the United States is just minutes away from
downtown San Diego, but if you ve visited the city, you ve probably driven over it without even
knowing it. San Diego s Chicano Park is hidden below the San Diego Coronado Bridge. More than 70
vibrantly colored murals adorn the support pylons of the freeway overpass. The walls pay tribute to
the history of the surrounding Mexican American and immigrant community called Barrio Logan. In
the 1960s, the community was further separated by the formation of the 5 Freeway and the high on
ramps of the San Diego Coronado Bridge. City leaders didn t include tenants in the preparation of
these projects that destroyed more than 5,000 houses and local businesses. ... Show more content on

The park s story is worth retelling: The bisecting of the Barrio Logan community by I 5 and the
Coronado Bridge, ending in a concrete roof supported by large gray pillars, replaced at least 1,500
families. With a society of 20,000 in its heyday in the 1940s, the historic neighborhood was rezoned as
industrial in the 1950s, ushering in junkyards, auto wrecking operations, plating and chemical
companies, and now, a legacy of environmental and air condition issues.
In 1967, community leaders began demanding a neighborhood park under the bridge. When the
California Highway Patrol started building a substation there, hundreds of residents formed a human
shield to stop construction. They displayed signs in Spanish with statements like, More houses, fewer
junkyards, and they hoisted a Chicano flag from a telephone pole.
The use of murals as a tool of political resistance is a long Mexican tradition. Imagine the park
without murals, said Tommie Camarillo, chairwoman of the Chicano Park Steering Committee, who
has been volunteering at the park for 48

Personal Leadership Philosophy Of Organizational Leadership
Personal Leadership Philosophy
Participating in the course Foundations of Organizational Leadership presented many opportunities to
enhance and enrich my perspective on leadership as well as develop my own unique leadership
philosophy. By observing the theories, models and cases presented in Northouse, Kouzes and Posner
textbooks, I was able to learn through the experience of others what a true leader should represent.
While considering the strengths and weaknesses of each theory, I am able to implement a leadership
style with an effective approach tailored to many different types of learners. In addition, witnessing
both the triumphs and failures of various businesses and leadership styles, helped me confirm my
personal stance and aspirations towards becoming a leader. By implementing what I have learned from
the course and textbooks, I will address in this paper what specific leadership theories, styles and
models have contributed to forming my own leadership philosophy. In addition, I will also define the
values, qualities, strengths and weaknesses and ethical considerations that pertain to my stance on
leadership. By integrating a faith based approach as the foundation of my leadership style, I hope to
implement my new philosophy into my current and future career path.

forming leadership styles and philosophies. Leadership is a combination of

ligaments that attach all 206 bones together, along with tendons that attach muscles to the bones and
also cartilage. All of the components are involved with the fundamental functions that are essential to
how the human body works and reacts. The skeleton assists in protecting the body s organs, provides
attachment sites for the musculature system that allows locomotion, also other upholding the physical

Long Bones
The femur, ulna and radius, tibia and fibula, humerus and phalanges (bones of the fingers) are all long
bones. The periosteum is the outer layer of the long bone that consists of three main parts:
Epiphysis: consists of compact (cortical) bone on the outer layer and cancellous (spongy) bone located
within the lower and upper areas of the inner layer.
Diaphysis: Is the shaft and middle part of the bone that is made up of tougher also denser cortical
bone.
Both diaphysis and epiphysis are separated by epiphysis cartilages that solidify when the growth of a
human is totally completed.
Overall all the long bones make up the majority of a person s weight, especially the femur. The femur
is the longest bone within the human body and bares most of a person s weight and also helps to
maintain balance of the skeleton.
Short Bones
Short bones are all practically equal in length and width of each other that all consist of the same
structure with the outer layer being cortical bone along with the inner layer of cancellous bone that
contains red bone marrow. The bones that are identified as short bone are as follows:
Carpals: Carpals make the wrist.
Tarsal: Make up the ankle.
Flat Bones
Flat bones consist of a layer of trabecular (spongy/cancellous) bone between two thin layers of
compact bone. The flat bones are of a flattened shape, not rounded. Examples of flat bones are as
follows, the skull and ribs. Flat bones do contain marrow, but are not a bone marrow

Essay On Sir Cumference And The Isle Of Immeter
The child I choose to teach was my little sister Itzel Ruvalcaba, she is about to complete 5th grade and
I thought it would be perfect to teach her a little math lesson. The novel I selected was Sir Cumference
and the Isle of Immeter by Cindy Neuschwander illustrated by Wayne Geehan. The Publisher is
Charlesbridge Pub Inc. and copyright date of January 1, 2006. The basic math concept I am teaching
her is finding the perimeter of a square, rectangle, and circle as well as finding the circles area. The
novel is mainly about a young girl named Per visits her Uncle Sir Cumference and his family and
learned how to play a game Inners and Edges Per learned the formula for Area the length (l)
multiplied by the width (w)= Area (A). The same night she finds a clue within the game linked to the
island with a mysterious castle on the Island of Immeter guarded by a sea serpent. Early next morning

reading the book together we occasionally stopped and played out the math related scenes to guide
Itzel of understanding the riddles occurring in the novel. The vocabulary within the story was slightly
unfamiliar to her. For example the circumference, radius, and perimeter were the ones she had the
most trouble with. While we were working on the Circles Overhead activity I explained and showed

Risk And Implement Falls Prevention Measures
More Staff is Not the Solution to Decrease Patient Falls Falls in an acute care setting lead the list of
injury related deaths and deaths in the elderly. A fall is defined as any event which patients are found
on the floor (observed or unobserved) or an unplanned lowering of the patient to the floor by staff or
visitors (Kalisch, Tschannen, and Lee, 2012, p. 6). Medicare and Medicaid changes in 2008 list falls as

Patients being admitted to hospitals today have multiple co morbidities and are on a number of
medications making them a high risk for falls. Having an awareness of a patients diagnoses, pertinent
history and current medications is key in establishing an appropriate plan of care. Staffing shortages
can lead to omission of tasks such as a complete admission history and falls risk assessment. As
with any assignment, regardless of the amount of patients one is caring for, prioritization needs to be
utilized when completing tasks and making care decisions. Further work must be done to assist nurses
in completing necessary tasks...which may or may not mean additional staff members (Kalisch,
Tschannen Lee, 2012, p. 11). Developing strategies such as computerized reminders and checklists are
necessary to ensure complete and appropriate nursing care is delivered. (Kalisch, Tschannen Lee,
2012, p. 11) The lack of proper education on identification of falls risk and falls prevention measures
impact patient falls. Staff turnover and the use of temporary staff contribute to miscommunication or
lack of communication on processes such as fall prevention measures. Experience levels vary on any
given unit. Educational needs assessments should be routine and include temporary and new staff.

Reenactment In Macbeth
The scenes selected in this reenactment include Act 1 Scene 3, Act 2, Scene 2 and Act 5, Scene 8.
These acts were chosen to be reenacted because they include some of the most important points in the
plot in the entire play. Throughout Act 1, Scene 3, Macbeth meets the three witches and learns of his
destiny to become king of Scotland. This is an important scene to include because the rest of the play
revolves around Macbeth s actions in order to fulfill his destiny. This scene essentially sets up the rest
of the play. To add, Act 2, Scene 2 was chosen because it contains the murder of Duncan in order for
Macbeth to become king and reign over Scotland. This is a crucial scene to include as many of
Macbeth s actions in this scene cause implications later on in the play, when people finally begin to
discover Duncan s true murderer. Moreover, this scene demonstrates a major theme in the play,
excessive ambition or hubris. Alike many other tragic heroes, Macbeth s tragic flaw is hubris relating
to his strong desire to become king. Macbeth s longing to become king compels him to murder the
current ruler of Scotland, Duncan, creating further ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a director, I believe that these elements were successfully displayed throughout the reenactment.
This is due to the overall impact that the video has. As it is easily comprehensible, smooth and

The decisions made throughout the making of this reenactment were made to enhance the overall
impact of the video. The facial expressions were added to convey the emotions throughout the play
and the narrations were edited based on the quality of the animations. Ultimately, this reenactment is
successful in demonstrating a theme, portraying a major character and in its

Animal Cruelty And Its Effects On Our Lives
Around 2.7 million of our companion animals are euthanized each year. It happens because many
people are giving up their pets and not a lot of people are adopting pets. Due to the economic crisis
few years ago, more owners threw away their pets to the streets, increasing the number of stray
animals. Shelters have no more space for incoming animals, so they forced to euthanize some animals.
The animals who are not euthanized are taken care by the shelters, but comes the next step, adoption.
Since many pets have terrible past lives, they usually show bad behaviours, causing adopters to return
pets. However this problem can be changed with good programs and people. These shelters take
responsibility to protect and improve the lives of abused, abandoned, and homeless dogs and cats.
They will also aim to bring together individuals who are passionate about creating a better future for
our companion animals. This bill will save our companion animals whose lives are in peril by giving
them rescue foster and adoption. There are many types and stages of animal cruelty in our society.
Animal cruelty is when someone does not care about the responsibility to look after an animal. Animal
cruelty can be two things, active and passive abuses. Passive abuse includes the most simple things
like not giving water to the animal, while active abuse is harmful actions, like hurting animals and
worse, killing them. Many animals suffer from the abuse of human irresponsibility. Animals are often

ASEISMIC FOUNDATION DESIGN PROCESS
LESSONS LEARNED FROM TWO MAJOR PROJECTS :
THE VASCO DA GAMAAND THE RION ANTIRION BRIDGES
Alain PECKER
Géodynamique et Structure, 157 Rue des Blains 92220 BAGNEUX, France
1 INTRODUCTION
The choice of a design concept for a bridge foundation is guided by various factors; several of these
factors are indeed of technical origin, like the environmental conditions in a broad sense, but others
non technical factors may also have a profound impact on the final design concept. These aspects will
be reviewed and illustrated by comparison of the solutions adopted for two major European cable
stayed bridges: the Vasco da Gama bridge in Lisbon (Portugal) and the Rion Antirion bridge, near
Patras
(Greece). The foundations solutions for those two structures are described and an attempt is made to
pinpoint the major factors that have guided the final choices. The innovative foundation concept
finally adopted for the Rion Antirion bridge is further described in details to highlight how capacity
design principles, which are familiar to structural engineers, can be implemented in earthquake
resistant design of foundations.
2 ASEISMIC FOUNDATION DESIGN PROCESS
The aseismic design process for foundations is a very broad activity requiring the synthesis of insight,
creativity, technical knowledge and experience [1]. Information is required and decisions have to be

Equality Between Men And Women
The law also prohibits retaliation against an individual who, in good faith, asserts his or her rights
under Title IX or other applicable federal laws and state laws prohibiting illegal discrimination. Title
IX was established around discrimination based on gender in 1972, and promotes equality between
men and women in education. Congress developed Title IX in order to spark the act of going against
sexual discrimination at academic institutes that were federally funded to promote the participation of
women in school sports and to create more programs for student athletes that are female. It is the
federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in schools that receive federal funding.
The law is not only directed towards education, but also towards athletics. Women s encounter with
discrimination based on sex, during participation in sports, created the idea of the passage of Title IX,
which was successful at promoting equality for women through having less discrimination against
women, providing more opportunities for women in sports, and creating equal treatment in athletics.
While participating in sports, girls and women faced discrimination and prejudice. Women were told
that competing in athletics was not lady like , and you were called names, for example, a lesbian or
tom boy. Women were looked at as physically unattractive and were seen as selfish because they were
not as cooperative as men while on a team. Women had to raise their own money, wear

difficulties were their white neighbors. While African American were making their ways by earning

by white American. White fear had become a pretense to retain their dominance over blacks and

the three young men who were being held. Upon arrival to the jail, they found a sheriff called Willis
McCall. Mr. McCall was able to turn away the first wave of the mob but a second mob came around
later on. This mob was controlled by the notorious Ku Klux Klan who were adamant on refusing to
have the African American men go to trial and would not permit the white people of their country to

How Endocrine System Works
How does the Endocrine system work? The function of the endocrine system is to regulate body
activities, similar to the nervous system in that they both regulate body activities. The difference is
that the nervous system uses electrical messengers to send signals to the body, and the endocrine
system uses chemical messengers hormones to make the changes to effect changes within the body.
The endocrine system work together with the nervous system to help control body function and
regulations, including metabolism, nutrition, elimination, temperature, fluid and electrolyte balance,
growth, and reproduction. The endocrine system in our body consists of a number of glands which
make, store, and release chemicals. There are a large number of endocrine glands in the human ...

Key components of the Endocrine System The major glands of the endocrine system are the
hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenals, pineal body, and the reproductive organs

brain. The function of the hypothalamus is to regulate production of hormones in the anterior pituitary
gland. Hypothalamus produces releasing and inhibitory hormones. Pituitary gland located just below
the brain secretes a number of hormones. One of the hormones secreted by this gland is human growth
hormone, which controls the growth of the human body. It helps control the development of the bones

Explain Why People Need To Change
Sometimes it can be very difficult to get a group of people to change some of their events, ideals, or

and eventually create positive change is a very important skill for a leader to have. Without this the
group would never be able to grow or evolve over time. One way to implement change is to present
the situation that is being discussed that needs to change. Then show the possible outcomes and

The Fischer Esterification Of An Unknown Acid
Fischer Esterification
5. Introduction In this experiment, the Fischer Esterification of an unknown acid and an unknown
alcohol was used to prepare an unknown ester. Sulfuric acid was used as a catalyst in the reaction
which then was put under reflux. After cooling, the pH of the solution was raised to approximately 8
using sodium carbonate. Diethyl ether was added, then the aqueous layer was removed and the organic
layer was washed with sodium chloride. The aqueous layer was removed again and sodium sulfate
was added. The unknown product was then identified using gas chromatography (GC) to obtain the
retention time.
6. Data and Results The GC data for the product produced graph with a signal level out of range in
peak. This gave a retention time 2.952 minutes. This would not indicate any of the possible ester
products. However, after appropriate dilution, a retention time of 1.753 minutes was obtained. This
retention time indicates that the ester product was ethyl benzoate.
7. Discussion and Conclusion Hydrogens, alkyls, or aryls bonded to carboxyl groups made up of a
carbonyl group and a hydroxyl group are known as carboxylic acids. Derivatives of carboxylic acids
include acid chlorides, esters, anhydrides, amides, and generally nitriles. These derivatives are formed
by the replacement of the hydroxyl group with a different electronegative heteroatom substituent,
which can be a single atom, such as a chlorine atom, or a group of atoms, such as in the formation of

Abstract
Who gets what when it comes to jurisdiction, how do you tell if it s a state matter or a federal matter?
Whether state or federal there are strict jurisdictions that both state and federal has to follow. From
subject and personal jurisdiction, to the three types of personal jurisdiction. Each court has set
boundaries that govern their rights. Without these rights there would be no subject matter. No one
would go to the appreciate courts or have the correct measures to even known which court they are
supposed to go to. But weather federal or state jurisdiction is going to take part in each case.

Criminal cases, personal jurisdiction refers to a courts authority to try a defendant for violating the
state s criminal law. Personal also deals with traditional crimes against a person such as assault, rape,
or murder. (Fradella amp; Neubauer, 2011 p. 61) A major advantage that courts take in personal
jurisdiction is the long arms statute. This statute allows any court to reach out over long distances and
obtain jurisdiction over anyone who is not present in the claim. An example of this was used in the
Hanson v. Denckla case where the defendant purposely invokes its self from the protection of the
state. So the courts use the long distance statute . There are many reasons to use personal jurisdiction
when it comes to the courts and there are three types of these jurisdictions. (Farlex, personal
Jurisdiction) The three types of jurisdiction are In Rem which is the courts power to adjudicate rights
of all persons with respects to a particular item of property. The second is In personum which is
simply personal jurisdiction, this jurisdiction has power over the person of a particular defendant.
Lastly there s Quasi in Rem which is the court has power to determine whether particular individuals
own specific property within the courts control. Courts can adjudicate disputes other than ownership

push Asian students to the top of their classes and centralized Asian student goals around their grades.
Some parents, for example, Amy Chua, have an even higher expectation for their children. Why
Chinese mothers are superior, tells of the stereotypical tiger mom, who expects the most of their
children, excelling them even further into the vision of the American dream. But even with all the
excellence the Asian students emits, university acceptance is another story. Articles like The model
minority is losing patience in the Economist and Justice Department investigating Harvard s
affirmative action policies by Susan Svrluga and Nick Anderson discuss the disadvantage Asians have
when applying to the top universities. With so many Asians prospering in school, the racial quotas
universities are suspected of having increase the difficulty for an Asian to be accepted. Because even
though Asian students tend to be more hardworking and dedicated to education than other races,

Juxtaposition In Eveline
Safe at Shore All the seas of the world tumbled about her heart (Joyce 1559) as Eveline confronted the
dawn of new life that posed the liberation of her hard, dark past. Set in the early 20th century of
Ireland, author James Joyce sets the story Eveline upon the era of seeking self identity in the
progression of a new world. With the integration of trade among countries across the world, new ideas
and opportunities invaded the familiar lands of certain conformities that hindered individuals from
achieving their aspirations. The protagonist Eveline is introduced to readers as an individual
contemplating on whether to hold onto the comfort of her hard, abusive childhood or relish in the
newfound opportunity of a better life of love upon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eveline falls in love with a young man named Frank, whom held all the qualities that she had ever
dreamed of. He was very kind, manly, open hearted (Joyce 1558), opposite of her father, and presented
her with a feeling of cherishment she never experienced before. Frank would save her..give her life,
perhaps love too (Joyce 1559) and was the literal passageway to the life she hoped for. Although she
wants to believe that she does deserve the right to be happy, she is overwhelmed with guilt in leaving
all that she ever cared about behind. She finds it difficult to break her mother s dying wish of
remaining an obedient daughter and to stop being the caretaker of the family. Life is unthinkable
without them; paradoxically the prospect of a romantic new life in Argentina represents to her a
terrifying death of the self (Spinks 59), because she feels that she is made up from her family s pain
and leaving it all behind would entail that she would also lose her identity. She wants to escape her
father s violence, be respected, and explore the world but believed daydreams shows a desire to be
more or have more than what is available in reality, and ultimately in each case the dream is
disappointed (Halloran 36). This reveals Joyce s satire of fear in change because of the unknown
future. If she

Let s Discuss Aristotle s Views
First, let s discuss Aristotle s views. As an example of how he takes one word and states its meaning in
a central way, proving that one word although it may have more than one meaning to be true has to be
used in the right context. What I mean by this is, if you take the word hot for example, the temperature
can be hot, touch can feel hot and taste can be hot or some people prefer to say spicy. But in this case
all these things use the term hot but have a different meaning pertaining to the same word. It is how
you use it that then creates its true meaning in your statement. This then, shows that this terms
meaning can be broken down to have more than one function but still hold its own essence of its
created state. Next we have the teaching of things being either separable, individual, or neither. He
states that in order for something to hold its own characteristics it needs to be determined as having its
own existence without being dependent of another to be then called Separable. So for example, a shirt
is made up of many strings of a certain type of fabric, whether it be silk or cotton, that patch of strings
if it is removed from that shirt, it is still a piece of that shirt regardless of if it is all together or not. It
was stitched the same way as the shirt and is still of the same color and fabric whether all together or
not. That patch is still of that shirt. Yes, it may be separate at this moment but it did not lose its initial
character just now is no longer

constantly changing. Due to the recent global recession, there has been a slowdown in the demand of
vehicles and people are moving towards small compact cars which are normally low priced. Many
companies which earlier normally catered to luxury segment are also entering this new attractive
segment. Global expansion has been the foray of automobile industry since long. Companies started
expanding themselves since early 1900¶s. Nissan is also one of the major automobile companies

unrecognized by academia. There is to date no evidence of nuclear explosions prior to 1945. Instead,
the earliest reference to prehistoric nuclear warfare appears to be the Soviet mathematician and
ethnologist Matest M. Agrest, who argued in 1959 that Sodom and Gomorrah had been destroyed by
nuclear bombs from alien spaceships. This claim was brought to the attention of the other side of the
Iron Curtain through The Morning of the Magicians (1960), a French work by Louis Pauwels and
Jacques Bergier which outlined one of the earliest complete (nonfiction) versions of the modern

The Causes And Contributions Of The Human Genome Project
Human Genome Project A genome is the complete collection of an organism s genetic material. The
human genome is composed of about 20,000 to 25,000 genes located on the 23 pairs of chromosomes
in a human cell (Tortora, Funke, Case, 2016). According to the Human Genome Project (2000), A
single human chromosome may contain more than 250 million DNA base pairs, and it is estimated
that the entire human genome consists of about 3 billion base pairs. Now that we have identified what
a genome is, we will now examine the Human Genome Project. The Human Genome Project (HGP) is
a project that began in October of 1990 (Tortora, Funke, Case, 2016). The HGP lasted for 13 years, so
the end of the project was in 2003. Mapping the entire human DNA sequence was the main purpose of
the program (Tortora, Funke, Case, 2016). Associating specific human traits and inborn diseases with
genes at exact locations on the chromosomes was the goal of genomic mapping and sequencing (HGP,
2000). Figure 1 below shows the timeline through which the Human Genome Project got completed.
In 1990, the project commenced along with the Ethical, legal and social implication program (ELSI).
Fast forwarding to 1995, where the human physical mapping goal was achieved. Then in 1999, the
sequence of the first human chromosome was completed. Finally, in 2003, the project was completed.

The Importance of History Essay
What is history? Should we study history? Who creates history? Is history relevant?
The definition of history, is a question which has sparked international debate for centuries between
the writers, readers, and the makers of history. It is a vital topic which should be relevant in our lives
because it?s important to acknowledge past events that have occurred in our world that deeply
influences the present. This essay will discuss what history is, and why we study it.
History is the study of past events leading up to the present day. It is a research, a narrative, or an

Focusing on the people involved in a time, place, and series of events makes history. Biographies and
historical fiction may popularize these entities/figures with descriptions of people who lived in the
past or events that happened in the past. Such Historical figures and events include King Leopold II of
Belgium and The Scramble of Africa in the late 19th century. Among other things, King Leopold II of
Belgium (1835 1909), is known for the exploitation of Congo and the mass murder of its citizens as
told in King Leopold?s Ghost by Adam Hochschild. King Leopold II of Belgium, created and
ironically erased history by ultimately slashing the area s population by ten million during his reign in
the Congo, and still managed to shrewdly foster a reputation as a great humanitarian. In telling this
story, Hochschild gave detailed descriptions, especially of the individuals involved, both good and
bad. Set in the palaces and boardrooms of Europe and in the villages of central Africa, it tells the story
of the tragedy that took place during Leopold s so called rule. This ?horror? story gives and reveals the
utter most secrets of the respected King Leopold. Prior to his colonization, In the mid 1870s, the King
hired then world renowned explorer Henry Morton Stanley, who was familiar with many parts of
Africa, to help him go about conquering. During the following years Stanley stayed throughout in

The books of the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John; where written over 2000 years ago. These
books excluding the Gospel of John are often called the synoptic Gospels. The term synoptic is
derived from the Greek word meaning seeing together. These three books are comparable in their
recording of the existence and ministry of Jesus. The wording of the synoptic Gospels is similar as
well. For example, the account of the healing of the leaper occurs in all three books and the ... Show

The common belief among source critics is that, the Gospel of Mark is the oldest and Matthew and
Luke used his gospel along with an unknown source to write their Gospels. Evidence supporting this
view make the makes four points. First, the Luke s Gospel is contains approximately half of Mark s
information and Matthew s Gospel encompasses almost all of Mark s views. Second, Mark s words
are used verbatium Matthew and Luke. Third, Matthew and Luke follow the same sequence of events
as Mark. Finally, Matthew and Luke sometimes reword Mark s uncomfortable passages of scripture to
allow smooth transitions and ease of understanding.[5] Markan Priority The Markan Priority is the
belief that Mark was the first to write his account then Matthew and Luke used his recordings along
with an unknown source to write their accounts. Although it is said that Matthew and Luke used Mark
s account and another unknown source to write their versions of the gospel, it is also believed that
Mark used some unknown source to supplement his gospel as well.[6] Weaknesses in the Markan
Priority To accept the Markan Priority one must first denounce the word of Jesus, that the Holy Spirit
would bring all things back to their remembrance ; the testimonies of the early church leaders and
historical facts. Also, if Matthew and Luke were present at the same time that Mark was present, why
would they need to use Mark s account?[7] Some authors believe that

The agent that killed Charles Monet could be considered one of the characters in The Hot Zone. This
character would be a considered a virus. It s very small and it plays a huge role. It plays a huge role
because it is the one that started this book. If Marburg didn t exist then Ebola most likely wouldn t be

What discovery does Jahrling make after testing the blood serum and the cells from the monkey

Dalgard was concerned if anyone switched the samples so he tested them twice, Preston says, He
decided to do the test again. Jahrling discovers that she has been around Ebola. General Russell says,
No, Fred, we re not smoking dope. We ve got an Ebola like virus. We can infer that there is

3. Explain the issues between the CDC and the Army. How could this cause more problems with an
outbreak of the virus? Who was in charge of the mission ? What was the protocol? Cite evidence to

CDC contains the virus while Army wants to protect and eliminate. This can cause problems with an
outbreak because both the CDC and the army use different strategies to eliminate/control the virus.

  • 2. Research Paper On Mount Olympus There was a place high up in the sky called Mount Olympus which is located right above the tallest mountain in the world. This is where all the gods and their children lived. Ezra lived with her father, Philip, and her boyfriend, Hercules. Hercules and Ezra had been forced to marry, even though Ezra did not like the idea. Ezra was treated the best by the gods because of her beauty and humans, or mortals, who were not gods, also loved her. At this time, the gods were all split because of a big argument they had. Some gods, like Cynthia, Adonis, and Beza thought that the gods should start to bring up mortals to turn them into gods and they can live on Mount Olympus. The other gods like Philip, Devin, and Zoe thought that only the gods living ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Chicano Park History The most significant number of outdoor mural art in the United States is just minutes away from downtown San Diego, but if you ve visited the city, you ve probably driven over it without even knowing it. San Diego s Chicano Park is hidden below the San Diego Coronado Bridge. More than 70 vibrantly colored murals adorn the support pylons of the freeway overpass. The walls pay tribute to the history of the surrounding Mexican American and immigrant community called Barrio Logan. In the 1960s, the community was further separated by the formation of the 5 Freeway and the high on ramps of the San Diego Coronado Bridge. City leaders didn t include tenants in the preparation of these projects that destroyed more than 5,000 houses and local businesses. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The park s story is worth retelling: The bisecting of the Barrio Logan community by I 5 and the Coronado Bridge, ending in a concrete roof supported by large gray pillars, replaced at least 1,500 families. With a society of 20,000 in its heyday in the 1940s, the historic neighborhood was rezoned as industrial in the 1950s, ushering in junkyards, auto wrecking operations, plating and chemical companies, and now, a legacy of environmental and air condition issues. In 1967, community leaders began demanding a neighborhood park under the bridge. When the California Highway Patrol started building a substation there, hundreds of residents formed a human shield to stop construction. They displayed signs in Spanish with statements like, More houses, fewer junkyards, and they hoisted a Chicano flag from a telephone pole. The use of murals as a tool of political resistance is a long Mexican tradition. Imagine the park without murals, said Tommie Camarillo, chairwoman of the Chicano Park Steering Committee, who has been volunteering at the park for 48 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Personal Leadership Philosophy Of Organizational Leadership Personal Leadership Philosophy Participating in the course Foundations of Organizational Leadership presented many opportunities to enhance and enrich my perspective on leadership as well as develop my own unique leadership philosophy. By observing the theories, models and cases presented in Northouse, Kouzes and Posner textbooks, I was able to learn through the experience of others what a true leader should represent. While considering the strengths and weaknesses of each theory, I am able to implement a leadership style with an effective approach tailored to many different types of learners. In addition, witnessing both the triumphs and failures of various businesses and leadership styles, helped me confirm my personal stance and aspirations towards becoming a leader. By implementing what I have learned from the course and textbooks, I will address in this paper what specific leadership theories, styles and models have contributed to forming my own leadership philosophy. In addition, I will also define the values, qualities, strengths and weaknesses and ethical considerations that pertain to my stance on leadership. By integrating a faith based approach as the foundation of my leadership style, I hope to implement my new philosophy into my current and future career path. A fall is defined as any event which patients are found on the floor (observed or unobserved) or an unplanned lowering of the patient to the floor by staff or visitors (Kalisch, Tschannen, and Lee, 2012, p. 6). Medicare and Medicaid changes in 2008 list falls as one of the 10 hospital acquired conditions for which hospitals will no longer be reimbursed because falls are considered preventable conditions. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Patients being admitted to hospitals today have multiple co morbidities and are on a number of medications making them a high risk for falls. Having an awareness of a patients diagnoses, pertinent history and current medications is key in establishing an appropriate plan of care. As with any assignment, regardless of the amount of patients one is caring for, prioritization needs to be utilized when completing tasks and making care decisions. Further work must be done to assist nurses in completing necessary tasks...which may or may not mean additional staff members (Kalisch, Tschannen Lee, 2012, p. 11). Developing strategies such as computerized reminders and checklists are necessary to ensure complete and appropriate nursing care is delivered. (Kalisch, Tschannen Lee, 2012, p. 11) The lack of proper education on identification of falls risk and falls prevention measures impact patient falls. Staff turnover and the use of temporary staff contribute to miscommunication or lack of communication on processes such as fall prevention measures. Experience levels vary on any given unit. • 11. Reenactment In Macbeth The scenes selected in this reenactment include Act 1 Scene 3, Act 2, Scene 2 and Act 5, Scene 8. These acts were chosen to be reenacted because they include some of the most important points in the plot in the entire play. Throughout Act 1, Scene 3, Macbeth meets the three witches and learns of his destiny to become king of Scotland. This is an important scene to include because the rest of the play revolves around Macbeth s actions in order to fulfill his destiny. This scene essentially sets up the rest of the play. To add, Act 2, Scene 2 was chosen because it contains the murder of Duncan in order for Macbeth to become king and reign over Scotland. This is a crucial scene to include as many of Macbeth s actions in this scene cause implications later on in the play, when people finally begin to discover Duncan s true murderer. Moreover, this scene demonstrates a major theme in the play, excessive ambition or hubris. Alike many other tragic heroes, Macbeth s tragic flaw is hubris relating to his strong desire to become king. • 12. Animal Cruelty And Its Effects On Our Lives Around 2.7 million of our companion animals are euthanized each year. It happens because many people are giving up their pets and not a lot of people are adopting pets. Due to the economic crisis few years ago, more owners threw away their pets to the streets, increasing the number of stray animals. Shelters have no more space for incoming animals, so they forced to euthanize some animals. The animals who are not euthanized are taken care by the shelters, but comes the next step, adoption. Since many pets have terrible past lives, they usually show bad behaviours, causing adopters to return pets. However this problem can be changed with good programs and people. These shelters take responsibility to protect and improve the lives of abused, abandoned, and homeless dogs and cats. They will also aim to bring together individuals who are passionate about creating a better future for our companion animals. This bill will save our companion animals whose lives are in peril by giving them rescue foster and adoption. There are many types and stages of animal cruelty in our society. Animal cruelty is when someone does not care about the responsibility to look after an animal. Animal cruelty can be two things, active and passive abuses. Passive abuse includes the most simple things like not giving water to the animal, while active abuse is harmful actions, like hurting animals and worse, killing them. Many animals suffer from the abuse of human irresponsibility. Animals are often ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These aspects will be reviewed and illustrated by comparison of the solutions adopted for two major European cable stayed bridges: the Vasco da Gama bridge in Lisbon (Portugal) and the Rion Antirion bridge, near Patras (Greece). The foundations solutions for those two structures are described and an attempt is made to pinpoint the major factors that have guided the final choices. The innovative foundation concept finally adopted for the Rion Antirion bridge is further described in details to highlight how capacity design principles, which are familiar to structural engineers, can be implemented in earthquake resistant design of foundations. 2 ASEISMIC FOUNDATION DESIGN PROCESS The aseismic design process for foundations is a very broad activity requiring the synthesis of insight, creativity, technical knowledge and experience [1]. It is the federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in schools that receive federal funding. The law is not only directed towards education, but also towards athletics. Women s encounter with discrimination based on sex, during participation in sports, created the idea of the passage of Title IX, which was successful at promoting equality for women through having less discrimination against women, providing more opportunities for women in sports, and creating equal treatment in athletics. While participating in sports, girls and women faced discrimination and prejudice. Women were told that competing in athletics was not lady like , and you were called names, for example, a lesbian or tom boy. Women were looked at as physically unattractive and were seen as selfish because they were not as cooperative as men while on a team. Women had to raise their own money, wear ... Pros And Cons Of African Americans After the abolishment of Slavery by President Lincoln, previous slaves were now able to live their lives as free people but were still constantly faced with difficulties. The main cause of those difficulties were their white neighbors. After accusations of this rape made its way throughout the neighborhood, a group of white men started a mob and headed to the local jail to lynch the three young men who were being held. Upon arrival to the jail, they found a sheriff called Willis McCall. Mr. McCall was able to turn away the first wave of the mob but a second mob came around later on. This mob was controlled by the notorious Ku Klux Klan who were adamant on refusing to have the African American men go to trial and would not permit the white people of their country to become a mongrel race . Mr. McCall was not sure how to turn away the clan. After a period of unrest caused by the Klan, a group of wealthy citizens decided to visit McCall and question on what was his course of action to turn the Klan away. Amongst this group of wealthy leaders was a man named Norton Wilkins. Contrary to what one with morals might be thinking, Mr. Wilkins was not trying to turn away these mobs for the good of jailed men, he had ulterior motives. The function of the endocrine system is to regulate body activities, similar to the nervous system in that they both regulate body activities. The difference is that the nervous system uses electrical messengers to send signals to the body, and the endocrine system uses chemical messengers hormones to make the changes to effect changes within the body. The endocrine system work together with the nervous system to help control body function and regulations, including metabolism, nutrition, elimination, temperature, fluid and electrolyte balance, growth, and reproduction. Especially when they have been the same for so long. Being able to deal with the resistance and eventually create positive change is a very important skill for a leader to have. Without this the group would never be able to grow or evolve over time. One way to implement change is to present the situation that is being discussed that needs to change. • 19. The Fischer Esterification Of An Unknown Acid Fischer Esterification 5. Introduction In this experiment, the Fischer Esterification of an unknown acid and an unknown alcohol was used to prepare an unknown ester. Sulfuric acid was used as a catalyst in the reaction which then was put under reflux. After cooling, the pH of the solution was raised to approximately 8 using sodium carbonate. Diethyl ether was added, then the aqueous layer was removed and the organic layer was washed with sodium chloride. The aqueous layer was removed again and sodium sulfate was added. The unknown product was then identified using gas chromatography (GC) to obtain the retention time. 6. Data and Results The GC data for the product produced graph with a signal level out of range in peak. This gave a retention time 2.952 minutes. This would not indicate any of the possible ester products. However, after appropriate dilution, a retention time of 1.753 minutes was obtained. This retention time indicates that the ester product was ethyl benzoate. 7. Discussion and Conclusion Hydrogens, alkyls, or aryls bonded to carboxyl groups made up of a carbonyl group and a hydroxyl group are known as carboxylic acids. Derivatives of carboxylic acids include acid chlorides, esters, anhydrides, amides, and generally nitriles. These derivatives are formed by the replacement of the hydroxyl group with a different electronegative heteroatom substituent, which can be a single atom, such as a chlorine atom, or a group of atoms, such as in the formation of ... Criminal cases, personal jurisdiction refers to a courts authority to try a defendant for violating the state s criminal law. Personal also deals with traditional crimes against a person such as assault, rape, or murder. (Fradella amp; Neubauer, 2011 p. 61) A major advantage that courts take in personal jurisdiction is the long arms statute. This statute allows any court to reach out over long distances and obtain jurisdiction over anyone who is not present in the claim. An example of this was used in the Hanson v. Denckla case where the defendant purposely invokes its self from the protection of the state. So the courts use the long distance statute . There are many reasons to use personal jurisdiction when it comes to the courts and there are three types of these jurisdictions. (Farlex, personal Jurisdiction) The three types of jurisdiction are In Rem which is the courts power to adjudicate rights of all persons with respects to a particular item of property. The second is In personum which is simply personal jurisdiction, this jurisdiction has power over the person of a particular defendant. Lastly there s Quasi in Rem which is the court has power to determine whether particular individuals own specific property within the courts control. One of the groups that believe in this dream are Asian Immigrants. Children of these Asian immigrants have a unique expectation to live up to. Their parents came to America in search of a better life, so they are pushed to achieve this desired life. Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan exposes this expectation through the stories of the character s childhoods. • 23. Let s Discuss Aristotle s Views First, let s discuss Aristotle s views. As an example of how he takes one word and states its meaning in a central way, proving that one word although it may have more than one meaning to be true has to be used in the right context. What I mean by this is, if you take the word hot for example, the temperature can be hot, touch can feel hot and taste can be hot or some people prefer to say spicy. But in this case all these things use the term hot but have a different meaning pertaining to the same word. It is how you use it that then creates its true meaning in your statement. This then, shows that this terms meaning can be broken down to have more than one function but still hold its own essence of its created state. Next we have the teaching of things being either separable, individual, or neither. He states that in order for something to hold its own characteristics it needs to be determined as having its own existence without being dependent of another to be then called Separable. So for example, a shirt is made up of many strings of a certain type of fabric, whether it be silk or cotton, that patch of strings if it is removed from that shirt, it is still a piece of that shirt regardless of if it is all together or not. It was stitched the same way as the shirt and is still of the same color and fabric whether all together or not. That patch is still of that shirt. Yes, it may be separate at this moment but it did not lose its initial character just now is no longer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The human genome is composed of about 20,000 to 25,000 genes located on the 23 pairs of chromosomes in a human cell (Tortora, Funke, Case, 2016). According to the Human Genome Project (2000), A single human chromosome may contain more than 250 million DNA base pairs, and it is estimated that the entire human genome consists of about 3 billion base pairs. Now that we have identified what a genome is, we will now examine the Human Genome Project. The Human Genome Project (HGP) is a project that began in October of 1990 (Tortora, Funke, Case, 2016). The HGP lasted for 13 years, so the end of the project was in 2003. Mapping the entire human DNA sequence was the main purpose of the program (Tortora, Funke, Case, 2016). Associating specific human traits and inborn diseases with genes at exact locations on the chromosomes was the goal of genomic mapping and sequencing (HGP, 2000). Figure 1 below shows the timeline through which the Human Genome Project got completed. In 1990, the project commenced along with the Ethical, legal and social implication program (ELSI).
