The Language Of Silence By Maxine Hong Kingston
Language is much more than a method of communication. Permeated within it are traditions, customs,
and legacies of one s culture. The identity of an entire population is in the distinct vocalizations of
their native language. Unfortunately, as a wave of immigrants enters the United States at young ages,
many face language barriers that pose significant challenges. Language barriers affect a multitude of
immigrant populations to different degrees. This, in turn, causes many of them to abandon not only
their native tongue but a piece of their ethnic identity, as well. In Maxine Hong Kingston s personal
narrative, The Language of Silence, she describes the difficulties she experienced throughout her
childhood with a language barrier as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spanish is my native language, however, my mother advised my siblings and I to speak only English.
This was because she was afraid that we would be rejected from professional careers if our English
wasn t unaccented, fluent, and similar in refinement to the working class whites. With time, I became
a fluent English speaker with a developed Central American accent but like, any other young girl, I
thought nothing of it. That is until one event, in particular, occurred that would cast a shadow of
embarrassment onto my Spanish language. This event not only led me to desert my entire native
language but a sense of my cultural identity, as well.
Every afternoon, my mother would take my siblings and I down to the community park. It was a
tradition of sorts. The leaves on the trees were brown, only days past Halloween. I sat under the
dappled afternoon sun and played in the sand. On this particular day, however, a young girl
approached me. Confused, I offered her a friendly smile but was, instead, greeted by the sand she
kicked in my direction. Once my mother took notice of this, she came forward and placed a hand over
the young girl s leg without physically touching her. Stop, she said. With this one word, the girl ran
off. After a minute or so, an older woman approached my mother and I, with a string of curse words. It
was the parent of the girl from earlier. Her husband attempted

Scandinavian Bronze Man
Although the Scandinavian Bronze Age man was a seaman, the extensive use of navigator features on
the panels is also related to the artists intrinsic curiosity on death. Both the sun cross and the sun
chariot can be seed transporting the people to the sun. This is an extension of the allusion that when
life ended, the individuals were transported to the other world that was far from the current world.
These might also be the initial allusion to the idea that man believed in life after death. Death is taken
to be an even where a man travels to a faraway priest. From other archeological works, the burial sites
for the Scandinavian Bronze Age man have been seen to be made in a ship s shape. It is highly likely
that the extensive representation of ships in the petroglyphs is also denoting the journey of men who

Some of the best examples of how companies are using new media to distribute products are Carnival

No Country For Old Men And The Road
Cormac McCarthy is one America s most revered and influential authors of the 20th and 21st century.
Winning the Pulitzer Prize for literature and many other literary accolades, McCarthy took the world
by storm with his gritty realism and sparse use of literature. His success eventually lead to the movie
adaptations of two of his most praised novels, No Country for Old Men and The Road. These two
works displayed McCarthy s style and plot structure very well, even though his writing style is
predominantly unconventional . However, contrary to the irregular style of literature, both movies
received great praise from critics and fans for being so loyal to the source material, although,

Considering the one of the main themes is about the end of humanity both physically and
psychologically, the narrative is wrought with brutality, hardships, and terror. For the entire duration
of the novel and movie, the father has accepted the idea that he would kill the son to save him from
capture if they were captured by cannibal men. In one portion of the novel, the protagonist come
across a house with a basement room filled with naked people, male and female, all trying to hide,
shielding their faces with their hands (110). They run out off the house seeing that there is a group of
cannibals approaching. In the film, the father and son are trapped in the house with the cannibals who
are unaware of their presence. Fearing that they would be captured and tortured to death, the father
ends up pressing the gun in the son s head and cocking it when he is almost certain that they would be
found. This is where the movie shows cinema s advantage over print. Possibly the bleakest scene in
the movie is when this occurs because the raw emotion the father and son exhibit on screen when they
are coming to terms with the worse possible outcome is both gut wrenching and unmatched by
McCarthy s writing. The novel, however, is overall much more grim and depressing due to scenes that
were cut out in the movie version. For example, there is a point in the book where the protagonists
witness a woman giving birth only to find a charred human

The Invasive Catfish Population
The Maryland rivers and bays have seen a rise in the invasive catfish population, more specifically the
blue and flathead species. They are native to the Midwest, making up up 75% of fish in the Virginia
and Maryland tributaries. These fish are damaging the local ecosystems because of their size and no
natural predators. State and local governments have been researching possible solutions to resolve the
issues but the populations of these fish spread very quickly. Though it is sorely needed some of the
solutions are experimental and could possibly hurt the native species in the process.

Establishing and maintaining Freshwater Protected Areas (FPAs) is a great tool that is used by many
fisheries. They should be used in High Risk, High Value locations so that it may make the biggest
ecological impact (Garman et al. 2013). Another way to mitigate the issue, although it is still in the
experimental phase, would be Electrofishing. This technique electrocutes fish in a stretch of water
using and electrical field, it has not been widely used because of its chances of killing non target fish
in the areas. Experimental electrofishing for commercial applications would require a significant
financial investment (20K per vessel) and strict oversight by agencies but might be fundable through
fishery resources grant (FRG) or similar programs (Garmin et al. 2003). Local awareness of the issue
is another way to mitigate the problem. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources launched a
statewide campaign to educate its citizen about the invasive fish and its impact on native species and
what anglers can do to help. For instance, it started the DNR program which stands for Do Not
Release . This asks anglers to remove and kill any blue or flathead catfish that are caught. It also
implemented a fine on anyone who is caught transporting these fish to different bodies of water, which
can be between $1000 to $2500. There is also a group called the Sustainable Fisheries Goal
Implementation Team (SFGIT) that is made up of jurisdictional managers and fishery stakeholders
who are trying to put policies into place to help reduce the problem

Christian Themes In Pop Culture
It is hard to imagine that movies, music, art, literature and other aspects of pop culture are influenced
by different themes in Christianity. Whether it is Aslan from The Chronicles of Narnia sacrificing

devilish Lord Voldemort; or Superman possessing God like powers; or Gandalf the Grey from The
Lord of the Rings bringing together a fellowship of men, elves and dwarves through his prophetic and

Sidious attempts to kill Luke by electrocuting him. Moved by his son s faith and love, Vader destroys
the Dark Lord, and ultimately fulfills the Jedi prophecy as the Chosen One. After making peace with
his son, Anakin becomes one with the Force. In reference to Christianity, the events that occur during
Luke s altercations with Vader on the second Death Star relate to Jesus s sacrifice to save humanity.
Sidious is sin and Luke is the human race. Sin was destroying humanity until Darth Vader, who is
Jesus in this case, destroys sin. Vader sacrifices himself in order to save his son. Vader s sacrifice
relates to Jesus s death on the Cross, because it symbolizes a sacrifice to save humanity from sin and
evil. At the end of Episode Six, Anakin Skywalker appears as a ghost to his son, similar to Jesus
appearing to his disciples soon after he was raised to the heavens. Anakin died to save the Galaxy

Henri Matisse s Woman With The Hat
When defining the use of art it has many meanings. Although, my definition of art is when something
captures your imagination, provoking an intentional feeling in you. Woman with the Hat or La Femme
au chapeau (page 725) is a painting by a French artist Henri Matisse, completed in the year of 1905.
Oil on canvas painting, it s height is 80.56 cm high and 59.69 cm wide. Matisse believed that color
could play a primary role in conveying meaning and focused his efforts on developing this notion. In
this painting Matisse portrayed his wife, Amelie Parayre, it was first shown at the Salon d Automne,

Matisse named the painting Women with the Hat. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Amelie s face, clothes, hat, and the background consists of colorful patches and blotches that
somehow produces a contrast and makes the painting look spontaneous. This painting is shocking to
me because the use of non naturalistic colors and loose brushwork contributes an unfinished look. It is
arranged by creating an energetic tense effect. Moreover, the elements of art in Women with the Hat
are line, shape, space, color, texture, and tone. The lines of the painting are natural and soft. As well as
the shapes, the lines are curved and organic. The shapes are very circular, their rounded nature focuses
on the humanity and softness of a woman. The surroundings of Mitasse s painting are light, therefore
the space is positive. The colors are bright and vibrant reds and greens and different types of blues.
Amelie s nose shines with a yellow dot Pinks and greens are found in the background of the painting.
The bright colors are kept in balance with the black outlines of Amelie and her clothing. The texture of
this whole painting shows the rough brush strokes. Also, the patches of color on the background
shows the different strokes and texture used which gives the painting a sense of

An American Immigrant Journey: A Look at Asian and Irish Immigration in the 19th Century Many

Some people had the choice to migrate to America in hope of a better life, while others were forced

Ireland underwent a famine and many of the Irish were starving and dying due to lack of nutrients and
disease that took over Ireland. Many Americans had problems with these new Irish immigrants simply
because it seemed like they provided America with no benefit at all. Not only did the Irish come to
America not being able to provide benefit for the country, but they were also very Catholic while in

Using Animals in Research is Bad! Essay
Have you ever wondered about what a product or a medicine goes through before it gets to us on the

regulating body decides they are safe for us to use. The FDA approves drugs and cosmetics and he
EPA regulates chemicals that are used and may be harmful to the environment. However before these
products are even considered by these regulatory bodies they must go through years of testing. Testing
that is unfortunately done on defenseless animals. Each year 50 to 100 million vertebrate animals,

This type of test is disturbing due to the fact that there are several highly sensitive non animal tests
that can be done to detect chemical induced genetic mutations but the government still requires
companies to poison animals to see whether or not they will develop cancer. The standard test of the
kind is the rodent cancer bioassay. Mice and rats are subjected to a lifetime of chemical exposure to
the chemicals in all new or reformulated pesticides, food additives, and drugs. Studies have proven
that these tests are found to have more than a 70 percent false positive rate. The final group of tests
that are performed on animals is product tests. No law requires that cosmetics and household products

Managing Internal And External Warehouse Traffic Essay
Uline is a growing company, adding more than 3,000 SKUs per year to the catalog (31,000 SKUs
total). As one of the company philosophies, all inventory items are stocked in all warehouses at varied
stock levels (10% of sales) even if ordered infrequently (Exhibit 1). To accommodate new inventory
and increased sales, each of the 11 branch locations (Exhibit 2) expanded their campus (Main shipping
warehouses and auxiliary buildings), sometimes exceeding 1 million ft2 by building or leasing new
warehouses (Exhibit 3). It takes about two (2) years to build, outfit and begin shipping from a
warehouse around one (1) year for purchase and administrative tasks (zoning, licensing, etc.) and one
(1) year for construction, equipment installation, hiring, and stocking inventory.
The increased inventories and warehouse expansions present three (3) major problems: logistics of
managing internal and external warehouse traffic, the ability to find qualified people to staff
warehouse operations, and excess inventory taking space in warehouses.
Two product categories have driven the space requirements: boxes (20% of Sales) and material
handling (22% of Sales). While only a small percentage of the catalog (1,400 SKUs), boxes require
more space than most other category products. Historically, smaller warehouses were leased,
purchased, or built as branch box depots to account for growth. Growth in the material handling
category (additional SKUs) increased sales overall, but requires

The Great Depression In Daniel James Brown s The Boys In...
I hope you had a nice, relaxing summer. This summer, I read The Boys in the Boat, and i enjoyed the
author s details about The Great Depression. As I was reading, I thought about our US History class
and how Daniel James Brown s description of Hoovervilles (hoovervilles are the main ideas in the
first few chapters) related to our classes discussions about the great depression. The stock market
crash of 1929. In The Boys in the Boat, Daniel James Brown goes into great detail and description on
how the Wall Street crash affected Americans. Students in US History classes should read this book
because it gives an insight of how it feels to live in America during that time. It allows students to
understand some actions taken at that time. Adolf

Consent For Marriage By Mr. Darcy
Willingness to consent for marriage with a loved one is a logical and emotional decision. In order to
sensibly bring two people together, domestic ideology encompasses genuine emotional interest.
During the analyzed passage, Mr. Darcy is proposing to Elizabeth for the second time. This signifies
personal growth within Mr.Darcy as he lets go of prejudice and doesn t let his pride get the best of
him. Rather than continuously critiquing each other, they allow emotion to influence their thoughts.
Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth realize that they re not always initially correct, which signifies a release of
pride. The proposal demonstrates the joy that Mr. Darcy feels and conveys that the combination of
status and contract can create these immense amounts of happiness within a person. The
characteristics of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy combine within himself, as well as within his marriage due
to the marrying of a genteel. The differences in the characteristics between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth
demonstrate that lower classes can influence upper classes, and that each have beneficial qualities. Mr.
Darcy exuberates this change as he is reluctant that she ll say yes, unlike the first time that he
proposed. He does not expect a yes simply because of status or due to her being a woman. He values
the opinion of someone who is lower class, and he feels it is morally correct to show that he wants to
be a gentleman. Mr. Darcy s second marriage proposal signals the triumph of domestic ideology by

Electricity Generation
Electricity generation is the process of creating electricity from other forms of energy.
The fundamental principles of electricity generation were discovered during the 1820s and early 1830s
by the British scientist Michael Faraday. His basic method is still used today: electricity is generated
by the movement of a loop of wire, or disc of copper between the poles of a magnet.[1]
For electric utilities, it is the first process in the delivery of electricity to consumers. The other
processes, electricity transmission, distribution, and electrical power storage and recovery using
pumped storage methods are normally carried out by the electrical power industry.

Silence Of The Lambs Compare And Contrast Essay
The last thing you want is Hannibal Lecter inside your head. It is a daunting task to effectively transfer
textual tonality from page to screen. Balancing proper visual interpretations of the text with original
insights is not an easy procedure, and not every filmmaker is equipped with the artistic skills
necessary to complete such an undertaking. Alejandro Jodorowsky s wildly unsuccessful attempt at
adapting Frank Herbert s Dune, for example, ended in bankruptcy for the studio and premature
cancellation of the project due to the extensive runtime the film was to have in accordance with the
length of the book. Many filmic adaptations fail in their inability to recapture and translate what

Each creative, Demme and Harris, utilize the conventions of their respective platform not for the
creation of an identical character, but an identical feeling. In both texts, Lecter executes his visions of

Ebert describes the character of Lecter as having a speaking voice with the precision of a man so

are, however, major discrepancies between Harris s one eyed, eleven fingered Dr. Lecter Demme s

Fossil Fuels Vs. Renewable Energy Essay
Abstract The world can t be imagined without IC Engines ,as their applications are wider in various
fields. And mainly used input for this engines are fossil fuels. But the challenge in this is decreasing
rate of resources. The fossil fuels may not be available after some years if they used in the same way
.Not only the fossil but also the electric power is the non renewable energy, This paper concentrates to
run the engine without fossil fuels or electricity.
Keywords IC Engines, fossil fuels , non renewable energy
I. INTRODUCTION
In today s motorized life , It s difficult to live without motor (Engines) and the main source of it s
input power is fossil fuels partly electric power. In future these fuels or electricity may not be
available widely as they are non renewable energies. So, it may be difficult to use engine with the
fuels. Not only the problem of lack of resources but also but also they pollutes the environment. If the
fossil fuels are used in this way for some more years ,It may difficult to breath in the future and many
things which are harmful to the earth may happen like global warming .this may leads in danger to the
lives of creatures. To solve this problems compressed air technology (CAT) was invented, and again
the problem in this is input power. The air may be freely available in the atmosphere , but it needs to
be compressed to use and the power it needs for compression is electrical energy , which is also a non
renewable energy.

The Nervous System And How It Interacts With Our Body
The Nervous System and How It Interacts With Our Body
Andrew Reynolds
Introduction: There was a common characteristic in all of the experiments performed, that being it
involved the nervous system and how it worked within the body to elicit different responses based on
different stimuli. Signals in the nervous system were fired, which triggered a response somewhere in
the body. This requires two systems to accomplish this, the afferent and efferent systems. The afferent
system is the system responsible for sending signals from the receptors to the central nervous system.
The efferent system is responsible for sending the response away from the central nervous system to
the area in which it wishes to produce an action. Between these two systems is an integrating center,
or control center. The afferent brings information from the receptor into the integrating center, the
information is processed, and then a response is sent away from the integrating center by the efferent
system and the response occurs. Dynamic task dependent regulation of reflexes controlled by the
central nervous system plays an integral part in neurocontrol of locomotion, shows how the central
nervous system and the reflex arcs that it causes are vital for the body to be able to function
(Hofstoetter, U. S., Minassian, K., Hofer, C., et al.) The cerebral cortex also plays a part in the sending
and receiving of signals throughout the body. It is located on the

Arguments Against Codified Constitution
A constitution can be defined as A set of rules that seek to establish the duties, powers and functions of
the various institutions of government; regulate the relationship between and among the institutions;
and define the relationship between the state and the individual, (Winrow, n.d.) Marking the
approaching 800th anniversary of Britain s famous Magna Carta, Graham Allen MP has put forward a
proposition about how Britain should reconsider its un codified constitution. He states:
At the beginning of the 2010 Parliament, we felt that the time was right to engage the public in a

Many codified constitution supporters fail to take into account the overall rigidity of a codified
constitution, a problem that has caused numerous problems for countries around the world (PaCRC,
2014, pp. 24 26). Most predominantly is the classic, yet potent example of the USA and their gun
laws. There has been an on going debate about whether gun laws should be restricted due to their
position on the constitution. The argument of many anti gun restrictions, such as the National Rifle
Association (NRA) and the Gun Owners of America (GOA), is that the right to bear arms, stated under
the second amendment of the US constitution as The right of the people to keep and bear arms should
not be infringed , outlines the fundamental right for law abiding American citizens to legally own a
firearm, and therefore should not be contested as it forms part of the key liberties of an American
citizen. Although, in recent years, the USA has seen numerous public shooting sprees, most
predominantly the Columbine shootings of 1999, Sandy Hook shootings of 2012 in Connecticut and
Virginia Tech killings of 2007. This has called into question the compatibility of the second
amendment with modern day society. It is clear that there needs to be some form of restriction on the
possession of guns in the US, yet due to the nature of the codified constitution in place, this is
extremely difficult to alter, highlighting the rigidity of codified constitutions and the lack of flexibility
to update legislation in sync with an ever changing

bowhead whale in Hudson Bay for just over half a century before bringing the whale stock close to
extinction. During this period whaling exerted a powerful, sustained influence upon the Eskimo, who
had hitherto enjoyed only sporadic and irregular contact with passing explorers and distant trading
posts. ( Ross, W. G. 1975) Because whalers coming, the life of Eskimo had many changes. May to
September are the best time to whaling, after this there are the long (ten month) period of inactivity.
Long time stay in harbors facilitated prolonged contact with the Eskimos. The Eskimo became
indispensable to the whalemen, assisting in whaling, hunting and overland travel. At the same time,
the whalemen came to be a port of the new Eskimo life. A way of life in which firearms, whaleboats
and a wide variety of imported goods played an increasingly important role. This economic
interdependence constituted the foundation of the Eskimo whalemen relation. ( Ross, W. G. 1975)
Furthermore, whale not the only one target for the whalemen. When hunting with Arctic, whalers
came across many different animals such as polar bears, walruses, musk oxen and birds. Some were

Romantic poetry encompasses many things, involving, but not limited to; nature, the sublime, and
strong senses of emotion. Many of the romantic poets wrote about nature, and how nature strongly
relates to that sense of emotion. Of course when you lack emotion, or you are struck with many
negative emotions, romantic poetry shows that nature itself is the remedy that you may require. Not
only does romantic poetry show that nature can cure, but it shows that an escape to nature is required
in order to understand it, and receive the cure that you seek. It shows that you must abandon your past
struggles, and learn to embrace nature. This begs the question; how does romantic poetry attempt to
show that nature is the cure to the issues that you currently face? Many of the romantic poets attempt
to show that through an escape to nature, you are able to become enlightened. William Wordsworth s
The Ruined Cottage exhibits a woman (Margaret) who is surrounded by romantics, which is used to
contrast that which are her struggles, and her lack of romanticism. This essay will look at the desire to

The Purpose Of The Supernatural In Literary Works
The purpose of the supernatural in Literary Works The purpose of the supernatural in literature can
vary in function from story to story. The supernatural can be used to create a certain mood in writing
or to enhance the dramatic effect of a story. The supernatural can also be used as the reasoning behind
a story and act as the theme it centers on, creating a paranormal effect and a mystical experience for
the reader.
In human nature there exists a morbid desire to explore the darker side of life. As human beings we
make every effort to deny our curiosity in the things that frighten us, but deep down we secretly thrive
on that cool rush of fear. Despite our efforts to maintain a balance of our emotions, we are a society of
people who slow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This story again reinforces the severity of defying the supernatural, and the strong belief the puritans
held in the actuality of a figurative God and Devil. This story repercussions the idea that there is
nowhere to hide from these supernatural powers.
Poe uses the supernatural to create a fear and set a mood in his stories. They are dark and always seem
to have a surprise lurking around each turn. He reinforces the fear of an overpowering doom that
cannot be escaped. In the story, The Telltale Heart, the imagery of a heart beating beneath the
floorboards is riveting. You feel that the heart is really beating; it s not just the imagination of a
madman. The narration is done totally in the first person and never gives the sex of the person. The
narrator is described as the caretaker of an old man. This technique allows the reader to identify with
the narrator/murderer and assume the caretaker is the same sex as the reader. When women read the
Telltale Heart most feel the narrator is a woman, as most caretakers are women. When a man reads
this story he believes that the narrator is a man, for most murderers are men. Poe puts good against
evil through sharp contradictions in the story. The old man s deformed eye represents evil, yet the
narrator describes him as never wronging her or insulting her. The narrator insists she is not crazy, but
then commits

  • 2. The Language Of Silence By Maxine Hong Kingston Language is much more than a method of communication. Permeated within it are traditions, customs, and legacies of one s culture. The identity of an entire population is in the distinct vocalizations of their native language. Unfortunately, as a wave of immigrants enters the United States at young ages, many face language barriers that pose significant challenges. Language barriers affect a multitude of immigrant populations to different degrees. This, in turn, causes many of them to abandon not only their native tongue but a piece of their ethnic identity, as well. In Maxine Hong Kingston s personal narrative, The Language of Silence, she describes the difficulties she experienced throughout her childhood with a language barrier as a ... This was because she was afraid that we would be rejected from professional careers if our English wasn t unaccented, fluent, and similar in refinement to the working class whites. With time, I became a fluent English speaker with a developed Central American accent but like, any other young girl, I thought nothing of it. That is until one event, in particular, occurred that would cast a shadow of embarrassment onto my Spanish language. This event not only led me to desert my entire native language but a sense of my cultural identity, as well. Every afternoon, my mother would take my siblings and I down to the community park. It was a tradition of sorts. The leaves on the trees were brown, only days past Halloween. I sat under the dappled afternoon sun and played in the sand. On this particular day, however, a young girl approached me. Confused, I offered her a friendly smile but was, instead, greeted by the sand she kicked in my direction. Once my mother took notice of this, she came forward and placed a hand over the young girl s leg without physically touching her. Stop, she said. With this one word, the girl ran off. After a minute or so, an older woman approached my mother and I, with a string of curse words. It was the parent of the girl from earlier. Her husband attempted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. The Nervous System And How It Interacts With Our Body The Nervous System and How It Interacts With Our Body Andrew Reynolds Introduction: There was a common characteristic in all of the experiments performed, that being it involved the nervous system and how it worked within the body to elicit different responses based on different stimuli. Signals in the nervous system were fired, which triggered a response somewhere in the body. This requires two systems to accomplish this, the afferent and efferent systems. The afferent system is the system responsible for sending signals from the receptors to the central nervous system. The efferent system is responsible for sending the response away from the central nervous system to the area in which it wishes to produce an action. Between these two systems is an integrating center, or control center. The afferent brings information from the receptor into the integrating center, the information is processed, and then a response is sent away from the integrating center by the efferent system and the response occurs. Dynamic task dependent regulation of reflexes controlled by the central nervous system plays an integral part in neurocontrol of locomotion, shows how the central nervous system and the reflex arcs that it causes are vital for the body to be able to function (Hofstoetter, U. S., Minassian, K., Hofer, C., et al.) The cerebral cortex also plays a part in the sending and receiving of signals throughout the body. It is located on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many codified constitution supporters fail to take into account the overall rigidity of a codified constitution, a problem that has caused numerous problems for countries around the world (PaCRC, 2014, pp. 24 26). Most predominantly is the classic, yet potent example of the USA and their gun laws. There has been an on going debate about whether gun laws should be restricted due to their position on the constitution. The argument of many anti gun restrictions, such as the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the Gun Owners of America (GOA), is that the right to bear arms, stated under the second amendment of the US constitution as The right of the people to keep and bear arms should not be infringed , outlines the fundamental right for law abiding American citizens to legally own a firearm, and therefore should not be contested as it forms part of the key liberties of an American citizen. Although, in recent years, the USA has seen numerous public shooting sprees, most predominantly the Columbine shootings of 1999, Sandy Hook shootings of 2012 in Connecticut and Virginia Tech killings of 2007. This has called into question the compatibility of the second amendment with modern day society. It is clear that there needs to be some form of restriction on the possession of guns in the US, yet due to the nature of the codified constitution in place, this is extremely difficult to alter, highlighting the rigidity of codified constitutions and the lack of flexibility to update legislation in sync with an ever changing ... Of course when you lack emotion, or you are struck with many negative emotions, romantic poetry shows that nature itself is the remedy that you may require. Not only does romantic poetry show that nature can cure, but it shows that an escape to nature is required in order to understand it, and receive the cure that you seek. It shows that you must abandon your past struggles, and learn to embrace nature.
