America s Current Health Care System
According to Joe Conason, America s current health care system wastes considerably more than a
trillion dollars every year. We know that because countries such as France, Germany, Japan and
Finland, with comparable standards of living to ours, spend roughly half what the United States
spends annually on health care per citizen, while covering everyone and achieving better results.
(Conason, 2009) The United States healthcare financial systems are severely flawed affecting the
overall cost control, services, and care made accessible to its clients. The rising costs in healthcare are
reaching new highs, and with rising costs, there doesn t seem to be much change in the quality of the
care being given. Clients coming in and out of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you combine the fifty five million who have been uninsured in a given year with the additional
thirty million Americans who are under insured, you get to a total of eighty five million Americans
with inadequate protection against the cost of illness (Blumenthal, 2014) Millions of Americans
cannot afford healthcare services, and therefore have no financial defense in battling illnesses. Even
with the affordable care act in place, there is a constant struggle for many who cannot afford the
premiums that come with these insurance policies. One of the reasons why we have uninsurance in the
United States is that it has become increasingly unaffordable to purchase insurance because the cost of
care and the premiums for care have gone up at multiples of the rates of increase of wages and of the
cost of living in the United States (Blumenthal, 2014) One way to combat these costs is to keep in
mind the geographical location of these individuals. By taking this information into consideration,
healthcare facilities can better focus on the types of services and care they offer their clients. It s
important to keep in mind the type of customers that they are primarily dealing with, for example, are
these facilities located in an area primarily made up of an elder population? or an area with many
young individuals? These factors are imperative to the

Antithetical Approach To Marriage In The Duchess Of Malfi
Webster has depicted an antithetical approach to marriage within his Senecan play, The Duchess of
Malfi. The play was written in the Jacobean era which, at the time, was a patriarchal society and so by
creating a dominant female protagonist, who did just about whatever she pleased Webster has
managed to incorporate a semantic field of death and pain to fit alongside his juxtapositions of a
typical Jacobean marriage.
To begin, Webster uses the idea of marriage being equal to ownership and power over another. As a
widow the Duchess has the potential to wield power independently of a husband and sever her
allegiances to other male kin, for instance her misogynistic brothers. The first way she exerts this
power is through her declarative marriage proposal to Antonio a young widow// That claims you for
her husband . Through the use of the transitive verb claims Webster has made the Duchess seem
strong and dominant, asserting her power of high blood over the steward Antonio. This power scares
Antonio, understandably so, as his role in a marriage would usually be the dominating one and
typically the husband owned the wife, specifically through the law of feme covert , so far, we see that
the Duchess tries to draw Antonio up to her level of status thus aligning with feme covert (her legal
identity is being subsumed by him). However, Antonio does fear this You do tremble: Make not your
heart so dead a piece of flesh and is therefore intimidated by the assertive Duchess.

Disney Princess Of Disney Princesses
Beginning with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937, Disney princesses have captured the
attention of pre adolescent children and are an integral part of American culture. Classic princesses

gross profit of Disney princess films has increased. Disney Consumer Products and the Disney
Princess franchise have created an array of products for all ages, and a number of classic films have

In 1937, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered. During that era, [t]he implication for women
was that work outside the home was a stage, not a right, and that the mature woman belonged at home
(Strom 363). Women worked only until marriage and then they dedicated themselves to their husbands
and children. Snow White personifies this role. She is adventurous and self sustained after she runs
into the forest, and helps the dwarves with housework, yet she desperately waits for the moment a
prince will save her. In that era, [w]omen saw themselves as powerless in the world outside the home,
and they relinquished any notions of rebelling against male coworkers or bosses in order to inherit
their traditional authority at home as wives and mothers (Strom 359). We can see this in the film when
Snow White is powerless while running through the forest, but becomes an authority figure once she
is at the dwarves home. Once the prince saves her, she becomes powerless, fully dependent on him,
and no longer has to worry about sustaining herself. Her stepmother, on the other hand, does not have
a prince to depend on, and has ill self esteem. She values self image but is not as beautiful as Snow
White, who is youthful and pure. Snow White s character is rather one dimensional, with no other
purpose than to be married, but she is naïve, submissive, nurturing and organized, the

Key Results Of Testing For Ppp Essay
5.1 Introduction
Following the methodology section, this chapter is going to present the main findings of the PPP test
and relevant information, graphs and tables will be shown as well. The purpose of this part is to
provide key results of testing for PPP in order to facilitate the following detailed discussions. It is no
doubt that this section can be viewed as the core of the whole project because it depends on a variety
of econometric tools to evaluate the financial data. The findings consist of two major aspects: the one
is on the examination of the strong version of PPP, namely APPP; the other is on the test of RPPP, also
known as the weak form of PPP.
5.2 Findings of Testing for APPP
As stated earlier, the APPP is based on the law of one price, stating that the real exchange rate is equal
to one. The formula is written by: (5)
For the convenience of our research, the equation above can be simplified to: (6) where Et represents
the nominal bilateral exchange rate, Pt* is the CPI in Japan, Pt means the Indian CPI.
Before analysing, what should do is to transmute the raw data into the natural logarithm form.
According to Jia and Rathi (2008), the major cause of transformation is that taking natural logarithms
not only indicates the elasticity of economic variables, but eliminates the issue of heteroscedasticity
efficiently. If an econometric model is heteroscedastic, the test of significance for

A Rose For Emily And The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall
The sorrowful and unpredictable realization of denial and loss can slowly tear down even the strongest
willed individuals. In the twisting tales of A Rose for Emily and The Jilting of Granny Weatherall the
recurring theme of denial continuously reminds the reader that life is precious and to never take
anything for granted. William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily focuses on the life and death of Emily
Grierson. Although the story begins with her death, the details of her life are revealed through several
elements. Emily is ultimately jilted by the man she falls in love with, Homer Barron, and poisons him
to ensure a lifelong commitment. A similar theme appears within Katherine Anne Porter s The Jilting
of Granny Weatherall Ellen Weatherall, is on her deathbed as the story begins. The narrator discusses
Granny s life and the struggles she faced in the past. As Granny lays upon her deathbed, she recalls all
the things she has to do and all the chores she has left undone. She also remarks the element of
surprise at the fact that death has come upon her. Not only do these two stories repeatedly use
elements such as symbolism and foreshadowing the authors create a relatively similar theme that not
only delivers a powerful message but is a timeless classic. Throughout the story, A Rose for Emily the
narrator tells the story from an unnamed narrator s perspective while sharing the town s feelings. This
makes the reader feel immersed in the town they are reading about

Should Juveniles Be Tried As Adults Essay
Holden 5
Should Juveniles be Tried as Adults? Juveniles deserve to be tried the same as adults when they
commit certain crimes. The justice systems of America are becoming completely unjust and easy to
break through. Juvenile courts haven t always been known to the everyday person. The Illinois
Juvenile Court Act of 1899 was the first juvenile court established in the United States (Locked Up...).
The juvenile court was created to handle the offenders on the basis on their rather than their crime. In
the 1980 s and 90 s many states passed laws to try teens as adults (Should Juveniles...). The court
system served to the minors under the age of sixteen. The courts didn t typically support disciplinary
actions. The people in charge did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone has their own opinion as to whether the courts should be abolished or not, but the people for
abolishing them believe that the court is based on false premises. They believe that all it does for the
youth is cover up their actions. They feel as if juveniles are tried as adults they will get the full
punishment that is deserved. Juvenile courts fail to stop violence. They believe that they should be
punished for adult crimes if they are going to act in such manors (Should Juveniles...). While there are
many that want to abolish it there are still many that still agree with it. Teens and children aren t fully
matured and shouldn t be tried based on their immaturity. It is believed that changing the people the
juvenile hangs out with will change a lot. The juvenile court is based on a base to bases case that it is
to serve the extreme best of the juvenile. The main purpose of the court is to treat not to deter. Juvenile
courts are needed to keep hope of those juveniles that still have hope
(Should Juveniles...). Many believe that gun rights are a serious issue in society today. While there are
many that disagree with the statement there are still many that think they laws should be more serious.
For example, in Littleton, Colorado two teens were charged for murder. Thirteen were killed and many
were injured. Bob Levin argues that, the Second Amendment protects America s right to bear arms, it
also puts dangerous weapons in the hands of immature, confused

Compare And Contrast Social Gospel And Social Darwinism
Compare and Contrast Social Darwinism and Social Gospel
Social Darwinism is based on Charles Darwins thoery of natural evalution. They based a persons
fitness off of weath, social status, and property. Poor poeple were seen as lazy, and less fit to survive.
They decided that anyone could have a good work ethic, intelligence, and perserverance. Supported
the idea of goverment policies should not regulate the market place or atempt social reform. Social
Darwinism was also used by Andrew Caenagie and other Industrialists to support thier business
practices.
Social Gospel was a movement to put social problems with Christianity , Issues such as inequality,

The First Three Words Of Our Constitution
We the people... the first three words of our constitution have changed in meaning and who the people
represent also has changed over time. The U.S constitution laid out the framework for the future
government of our country, everything from the branches of our government to our rights as U.S
citizens. As our country has evolved from the institution of the constitution to our modern day country,
the representation of the the people has expanded and changed in the years since the establishment of
the U.S constitution. To begin, why did the framers choose to start the constitution with we the
people? During the creation process of the constitution the framers had one thing in mind and that was
to create a system of government that was anything but the tyranny Britain had. Perhaps the biggest
flaw Great Britain had been the lack of voice the citizens of England had. Not even the Articles of
Confederation began or even mentioned the people in the document. It only made sense for the
foundation of our country s future to revolve around the thing that allows our government to function.
The citizens run the government, if the citizens don t go out and fight for things to get done then
nothing will ever get done. This is why we have representatives in each state to listen to what the
people have to say on issues and laws. Another point referring to both the government of Britain and
the articles of confederation is that by saying we the people it shows that the constitution

detainees once they disappeared into the hundreds of secret detention centers known as pits and black

society, destroying incriminating evidence, and misleading world opinion, the disappearances also
served as a remembrance of the Dirty War . The armed forces did their best to influence national
memory by impressing, the dirty war had been a legitimate antirevolutionary war against a guerrilla

Torture and disappearances were not officially sanctioned, but were the inevitable excesses of war.
The statements from the Junta failed to convince the Argentine people not only because they knew that
it was false, but because the fate of the disappeared was of an overarching public concern. The
meaning of a disappeared as someone alive yet missing changed into someone dead yet unaccounted
for. Unlike in the case of the Holocaust, where the absence of proof of the death of millions of
concentration camps, the Argentine dirty war lacked such open ideological framework and visible
infrastructure of mass murder. The Argentine military always denied having the disappeared in secret
detention and thus nurtured a hope among relatives that was hard to abandon. Furthermore, the
political reality of an Argentina climbing out of years of authoritarianism did not allow for the public
acceptance of a presumption of death without the presence of a corpse. The continued demand for
truth demonstrates that personal and social traumas revolve around a search for the meaning of past
suffering. An individual may forget or not recall certain devastating experiences, but that does not
make the traumatic event go away. It rather pushes it to the front of

Sacrifice in Life of Pi, Pi by Yann Martel Essays

Mr. and Mrs. Iyer is an artistic piece of fictional creative media completed in 2002 by the famed
Indian movie director, Aparna Sen. In this film, Indian attitudes regarding gender roles, love, and
families are expressed through the protagonist, Meenakshi, and her role as a family manager despite
her advanced education; the loving and dedicated wife, Najma Ahmed Khan, of the elderly Muslim

Considering that Mani is the only source of income within the family, as a woman her status within
the household was largely dependent on the husband. A woman s sole purpose in life is to devote her
life to her husband and children. Indian society is one that is male dominated and this is still the
thought within the home. (Gender, Culture, India , 2014) The role of women in India in one deeply
rooted in tradition, as many women of high caste were restricted to the confines of their household.
This practice prolongs the oppression of women by maintaining a status inferior to the men.
As the bus was invaded by rioting Hindu mobs, the mob leader attempts to forcibly remove the Iqbal
Khan from the bus after he is revealed to be a Muslim. During his many attempts to expel the Muslim,
his dedicated wife rises to the defense of her husband. The Hindus physically assault her, and
afterwards extracted the both of them from the bus. Later, it is revealed that they were both murdered.
Faced with dangerous men toting deadly weapons, she likely forecasted the outcome of the situation.
Yet despite the perils, she still defended her husband. If she were to become a widow, the concept of a
secondary marriage would taint the purity of a female. Secondary unions are considered a concession
to human weakness. The first marriage has a sacramental character and is a samskara that cannot be

The following advertising controversially displays a symbol of dogmatism. Eerily similar to the pasta

exemplified on this movie soundtrack cover as it is exposes the observer to first a highlighted Warhol

Americas are indigenous to many races and cultures. An additional example of the one sided attitude
marketers had towards the promotion of this advertisement is its stereotypical image of how many
people in the world perceives North American women to be. This title plays upon all people wanting

A Study On High School
High school senior Timothy Williams woke to the sound of wind scraping the desert sand across a
glass pane of his third floor Samarra Hotel room. In the pitch black room, he rolled over to see the
nightstand. A digital clock showed the current time at 9:37AM.
Tim thought to himself, Shit!
Their buffet breakfast began at nine.
They were running late.
Tim hated the thought for being late, for anything.
Tim pushed his back upwardly, propping up his elbows to survey his modest surroundings. The Hotel
Samarra room had two twin beds, divided by a nightstand and a wobbly brass lamp. A dresser sat
nearby the foot of Tim s bed with a 1980 s Sylvania TV/VCR combo set. Across from the dresser was
a raggedy desk and chair, nearest the entrance.
It reminded Williams of a motel accommodation. Which was fine, he just hoped that the Minister
Mike s New Oasis Church wasn t paying big bucks for such arrangements, although the Hotel boasted
its safety.
Tim pondered, Could anyone actually be safe in this place?
However, the darkness outside made Tim s mind questioned to himself, Was this an eclipse?
Or am I m dreaming?
Or is the time off?
Another gust pelted the glass. This time it caused his roommate, Kwan Shin, to moan from his deep
slumber.
Kwan turned over to face Tim s direction.
Shin s plump limbs were tangled among linen.

Vladimir Putin Chapter 1 Summary
Summary: Chapters 3 4 Vladimir Putin s move from St. Petersburg to Moscow signaled the beginning
of the Putin era. Throughout his time in the KGB and as first deputy mayor of St. Petersburg, he was
rarely ever seen as a man of high honor and prestige. His positions included advancing the agendas of
those around him, but he rarely ever aimed to advance his own career. Despite this lack of ambition,
Putin s admirable personality traits and various political connections led to his accelerated rise to
power. Upon being officially inaugurated on May 7, 2000, Putin s boldness and authority acted as a
saving grace for Russia and its people. Throughout the 1990s, the state of Russia s economy, politics,
and society as a whole was in constant turmoil and disarray. President Yeltsin campaigned on the basis
of drastic economic change that would transform Russia from a bleak totalitarian past to a bright and
promising democratic future. In order to fight the stagflation caused by the Soviet s command
economy, Yeltsin enacted measures of shock therapy to slowly reconstruct the failing economy. These
measures included removing government price controls on numerous products, lifting wage controls
on various jobs, cutting military spending to spare the budget deficit, and handing out vouchers to

Interning As The Financial Analyst At Terma North America...
Interning as the financial analyst at Terma North America Inc. (Terma) and as the accounting intern at
Howard, Moore, and McDuffie (HMM) has been a great learning experience. This summer I have
been able to apply theory and participate in real world scenarios. At the beginning of my internships, I
met with my supervisors to create goals that I would strive to achieve by the end of the summer. At
Terma, my goal was to prepare and present summary financial status reports to management and
customers. I was able to exceed this goal by working with the IT department to design and create a
program management module for the program managers. With the guide, the managers will learn how
to access reports and update them at any time without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At Terma, I have been able to expand my knowledge about not only accounting but finance as well. As
a financial analyst intern I had the opportunity to work closely with the financial manager. The tasks I
performed related to accounting, but included a variety of financial duties. I have always enjoyed
accounting and finance; however, I believe a background in accounting will further assist me if I
chose to work in the finance department of a company. While at Terma, I was able to experience
working in administration, human resources, accounting and finance, and even engineering. HMM
was different, and their focus and expertise is accounting. At HMM I have completed tasks that
involved accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tax. These are topics I have read about in school,
but have yet to have the opportunity to actually work on a real account. Through tutorials and many
training sessions, I also learned new concepts that will prepare me for future accounting classes and
employment. My internships this summer have amplified my knowledge of accounting, and have
helped me realize that all of my hard work and dedication to my studies were well worth it. Mercer
taught me the basics, and my internships allowed me to apply concepts and gain the skills that many
entry level accounts do not have. In one year, I will be entering the accounting

The Three Alones Of Reformation Theology
Question 1. What are the three alones of Reformation theology? How do they relate to one another in
Luther s theology? How does Luther s use of them respond to the dominant question of the sixteenth
century: How can I know that God is favorable to me?
The three alones in Reformation theology refer to that which is needed for justification or salvation
favorableness in the sight of God. Luther describes them as 1) Christ, or the Gospel of Christ
(Scripture), alone, 2) faith alone, and 3) grace alone. Each of these three are essentially united in
Luther s theology.
Christ is the most important factor in the three, because without Christ and without His Word, as
recorded in Scripture, one cannot begin to have faith or hope to receive the necessary grace that comes
with faith and guarantees salvation. As Luther states, One thing, and one alone, is necessary for life,
justification, and Christian liberty; and that is the most holy word of God, the Gospel of Christ
(Luther, p. 9). Through Christ and the preaching of His Word comes belief. If one believes, that is has
faith, which implies trust and commitment, then one is justified and has found favor in God s eyes:
For faith alone, and the efficacious use of the word of God, bring salvation (Luther, p. 9)
Luther downplays the importance of works in the justification of man and instead emphasizes the
place of faith and the grace that goes with it: For the word of God cannot be received and honoured by
any works,

Christopher Clombus Is Not A Hero Essay
Introduction
In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue. That s the one date everyone remembers, the date in virtually
every school child s history textbook. But, they leave out pretty much everything about Columbus and
his exploration of the New World. It s the part many people have yet to learn about. For years,
Columbus has been presented to us as a hero. In 1934, President Roosevelt even gave Columbus his
own holiday. To this day, we celebrate his discovery of America. What is found in history textbooks
now, have seemed to show another side of Christopher Columbus, a side that they wouldn t dare teach
in elementary school. It s the rest of Columbus tale of discovery . This paper will show you that

The Indians taught them how to grow food and use the land to survive. Columbus and his men would
trade a lot with the Indians and they all lived happily ever after. That s pretty much where our textbook
stopped. I have never learned anything else about Columbus until now. There is so much that my third
grade teacher left out and didn t explain.
REASONS FOR HIM NOT BEEN A HERO Columbus gets a lot of credit for discovering land that
already had people living on it, a land that has already been encountered by other people way before
Columbus was even born. In 70,000 to 12,000 B.C. Siberia explorers sailed to Alaska. In 10,000 600
B.C., Siberians also went to Canada and the state we now call New Mexico. A little more recently the
Vikings in 1000 1350 came from Greenland and Iceland. They traveled to Labrado, Baffin Land,
Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Cape Cod and further south. Around 1311 and 1460 explorers from West
Africa came across to Haiti, Panama, and Brazil (Loewen 48). These were only a few of the many
encounters of the Americas. A result of these explorations was the establishment of Indian villages and
the life they began to lead.
The fact that Columbus didn t actually discover America isn t the idea that is most disturbing when
considering misleading history that children are taught. It is the information that was kept from us
while younger that now should be revealed, since we are at the age that we can comprehend and

Wise Words From Byzantium Is A Heaven
Byzantium was one of the major cities of the world. The whole city was like an art exhibit with layers
of gold on the roofs of buildings. In the article, Guide to a Golden Age, by Canon Comerford, it says,
For Yeats, the holy city of Byzantium especially the Byzantium of Justinian represented a golden age
that produced lasting cultural monuments: the Justinian Code, which provided the basis of European
law, and so many works of art and architecture. Byzantium was the best place imaginable, like
paradise. Paradise for many, is heaven. Maybe Byzantium displayed a real world experience of what

Life can suck at times. People can be stretched every direction and feel as if they are being beat on.
There are times when people feel physically and emotionally worn out to the point where they want to
give up. However, when those people continue to stay strong and fight, they accomplish amazing
things and learn more than they could have ever imagined. Truth is, everybody will face trials in life,
but it s how people react to them that makes a difference. In the article, Wise Words From Wise
Leaders, by Kenyon Craig, it says, We all face adversity at some point in our lives. Our success lies in
how we handle it. Many of us allow challenges to defeat us. What I say to you is this: accept your
challenge head on. If you focus on developing into a stronger and wiser individual, you will succeed
not in spite of, but because of the very challenges you face. The most successful people in life don t
get that way from having it easy in life. When a person accepts a challenge and learns from their
mistakes and hardships that is when they are able to rise above the rest. Why? Because they
understand concepts that others couldn t even begin to grasp. They know the importance of life and
just how drastically it can change. They appreciate what they have and cherish the little things in life.

Similarities Between Macbeth And The White Witch
Macbeth vs. White Witch
The strive of ambition for power can seem to be true perfection, but one should be careful what they
wish for, because that power might be exactly what caused their downfall. This is true in William
Shakespeare s story of a man named Macbeth. And C.J. Lewis s novel about a White Witch, Jadis.
Merciless, cruel, and power hungry, both Macbeth and the White Witch portray an image of pure evil.
Although the White Witch Macbeth are named royalty King or Queen ,they never deserved the title.
She calls herself the Queen of Narnia thought she has no right to be queen at all, and all the Fauns and
Dryands and Naiads and Dwarfs and Animals at least all the good ones simply hate her (Lewis). Since
the White Witch is the Queen of Narnia, she cursed the land and made it winter forever, but never
allowed the time to reach Christmas. In the story of Narnia, it s easy to tell what creatures are good,
and what creatures represent evil; the darker, more scary Narnians are the White Witch s only
followers. On the other hand, Macbeth doesn t deserve to be King either: The prince of Cumberland!
That is a step on which I must fall down, or else o erleap, For in my way it lies. Stars, hide your fires;
Let not lights see my black and deep desires. The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be Which the eye
fears, when it is done, to see (Macbeth, Act 1 Scene 4). Macbeth already knows he will perform a
horrible deed to secure his spot as King, that he ll either have to give up or step up over the Prince of
Cumberland. Foreshadowing, Macbeth does end up completing his evil thoughts and ideas.
One of the only reasons Macbeth or the White Witch has any followers Lady Macbeth other Narnians
is because of the use of fear and power. Described in the novel, The Witch sways many Narnians to
her side out of fear or lust for power, so that the Narnians are divided and are completely terrified
(Lewis). As the head of the forces of Evil, the White Witch isn t playing a lone hand. There are many
different types of creatures in Narnia that follow her, and she merely acts as their captain. Evil is a
major dimension of things and wields a great deal of power, especially for others who seek the same
thing. Macbeth

Introduction:
Now days, lots of organisations are facing the problems which is mainly related to employee s

Afghanistan Of The Soviet Union
For over 2 centuries, Afghanistan has known virtually no time without war. Beginning around 326
B.C. with the conquests of Alexander the Great, to the Persians, British, Russians and most recently,
America and our NATO allies, Afghanistan has been cultivated into the country that it is today through
a trial by fire. Regardless of this relentless onslaught of foreign military power, the Afghan people
have tirelessly defended their homeland with no outside power ever being able to subdue them
completely. Following the withdrawal of the Soviet Union in 1989, the country fell into civil war, torn
even further apart by fiercely dedicated tribal warlords. This power vacuum led to the rise of a group
called the Taliban. Led by a one eyed man ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

s willingness to pay them, adventure seekers and those who long for the status that only power can
provide. Furthermore, they long for a change to their country that has not come since 2001. During
this time, they have found rage in instances such as a local villager being killed or wounded in an
attack by Afghan, U.S., or NATO forces.
The Taliban have four basic goals that they also view as phases. First is to utilize the devout religious
commitment found in Afghanistan and Pakistan to mobilize the public. Second is to rally the Pashtun
tribes through the Pashtunwali code of honor, which a Pashtun must adhere to in order to maintain his
honor and identity as a Pashtun. This code includes many important facets including Nang (honor),
Badal (revenge), Melmastia (hospitality), Nanawatay (to seek forgiveness), and Hamsaya (one who
shares the same shadow) (30). The Taliban also hopes to further their longtime goal of toppling Kabul
by emphasizing the Pashtuns subjugation by a predominantly non Pashtun government (??) Thirdly,
they hope to build up confidence in their organization while simultaneously attacking the legitimacy
of the IROA, coalition forces, and the Government of Pakistan. (57) Lastly, once the Western

Capital Punishment Is Not So Easy Way Out
Capital Punishment a not so easy way out.
Is showing the country that killing people is wrong by killing other people the right way to do it?
Capital Punishment is a legal form of justice in 31 states of USA. This sentence consist in taking the
life of the accused individuals as a punishment for committing atrocious crimes such as murder, rape
and child abuse. Not only capital punishment is morally and ethically wrong, Capital punishment also
violates our constitutional rights, it also takes the lives of innocent people and it cost more to the
people living in the states that approve this punishment. Capital Punishment is should be abolish in all
the states of the United States of America.
Cost of Death
The majority of people would certainly agree with putting an end to this individuals lives believing
that is the right thing to do and probably would require less tax money. However, numerous studies
have been made on the matter and the results prove that the people who believe that killing accused
individuals saves money are erring. According to study conducted by Seattle University found that
since 1987 the five total cases in Washington amounted to a total bill gross to the taxpayer of 120
million dollars, around 24 million per execution. In three of the five cases the accused waived some of
his appeals reducing the total cost. Furthermore as reported by a Palm Beach Post study (2000) it was

interesting. Women are known for being the weaker link, the brutally murdered, the intentesly stalked.

romantic relationship with the heroine. However, while monsters often prey upon women, in modern
horror stories sometimes the women take on the roles of both victim and heroine. In this instense it is
usually because they are apart of a bigger play of events. The turbulent relationship between women

A Compartment Of Tendon Progenitors
A Somitic Compartment of Tendon Progenitors Summary
Tendons are some of the most important tissues in the body of any organism, transferring the power
created by the muscles to the bones and allowing coordinated body movements to occur. However,
until recently there was very little known about the origin of this tissue and most of the research
performed focused on the limbs and the tendons associated with them. Along with the limited amount
of research seemingly none of it was focused on the axial and ventrolateral body wall tendons. It was
not until the discovery of Scleraxis (Scx), a bHLH transcription factor found in progenitor cells and
mature tendons, that tendons could be observed through the embryonic stages (Schweitzer et al. ...

Upon confirming that axial and intercostal tendons originated from the somites, the researchers
wanted to determine if the other somitic compartments affected the syndetome fate. Double whole
mount in situ hybridization was used to compare Scx in progenitor cells, Pax1 in sclerotome, and
MyoD in myotome. Scx expression was restricted to the anterior and posterior borders while MyoD
expression was present in the center of the myotome with no overlap of the two markers. When Scx
was compared to Pax1 it appeared that they existed in the same region; however, Pax1 was expressed
more ventromedial and Scx was closer to the myotome, these markers did not have any overlap either.
Additionally, Scx expression occurred much later in development compared to MyoD and Pax1(Kiefer
and Hauschka, 2001; Stockdale et al., 2000). It showed that the Scx expression progenitor cells had a
distinct fate producing a separate compartment of tendon progenitor cells, which did not overlap with
the adjacent tissues.
To establish the origin of the syndetome a fate map was created using a chick quail chimera where two
successive sclerotomes or dermomyotomes were transplanted from a quail to a chick embryo.
Utilizing in situ hybridization to visualize Scx expression and QCPN to identify quail cells,
sclerotome and Scx expressing tendon

The Myth Of The Old Testament
The Old Testament generally presents a familial narrative in which the whole human race descends
from one family. This unfolds itself and then focuses in on Abraham, from whom the line of
inheritance is drawn to Israel. The Israelites are distinctly filled with flaws throughout their history.
Whereas Rome as noble stories of war and triumph, Israel has stories of Old Men wandering the
desert. Their ancestors and heroic figures are not demigods nor epic heros, but merely wandering men
of faith, Patriarchs sold into slavery, and sheep herders. God forges His chosen people from the
outcasts of humanity. In forging a people of His own, God is named their Father. He is called such in
the Old Testament in two distinct ways. First, as specifically the God of Israel. Second, The Father of
Israel s king. Explicit notions of God as the Father of Israel number nine, while He is mentioned as the
Father of the King five times. There are many times in which Israel is called the son of, or the
Israelites are called the children of, God. The narrative that unfolds with God as the Father of a Nation
and their King is especially vital to understanding the Old Testament. The Old Testament s explicit
mention of God as the Father of Israel come especially in Deuteronomy, the Psalms, and the Prophets.
He is pictured as forming, protecting, guiding, providing, offering covenants, giving inheritance, and
restoring. The foundational moment of this is found in the book of Deuteronomy.

Modern Voodoo in New Orleans departs the most from original Voodoo traditions of the 18th and 19th
century and is now more of a Voodoo revival than anything else. By the 20th century traditional
Voodoo scarcely remained in New Orleans other than with older black New Orleanians (Long 96).
American Voodoo is similar to that of Cuban and Haitian Voodoo because most of the practitioners are
Catholic. It differs, however, in some of it terms. For example in New Orleans Voodoo they refer to
their supreme God as Iwa not Oldumare. American, more specifically New Orleans, culture has not
only affected Voodoo traditions, but drastically changed the world s perspective on it. People such as
Marie Laveau and her daughter influenced the growth of Voodoo in New Orleans. While Marie
Laveau was a traditional practitioner of Voodoo, her daughter Marie Laveau II focused more on
theatrics of Voodoo ceremonies and had large gatherings and became a prominent figure of her time.
She included Catholic figures in her ceremonies by continuing the Haitian tradition of mixing Catholic
saints with African spirits. Though she spread Voodoo, Marie also had a negative affect on Voodoo
perspective because she sold alcohol and ran a brothel. These negative aspects were intensified
because of superstition and Voodoo eventually was seen as an evil religion that worships the devil

doll, black magic, and devil worship were created. None of which were in fact true about Voodoo, but
as these views became more widespread Voodoo became more of entertainment than religion in New

Ben Quash And Michael Ward
In the book Heresies and How to Avoid Them, authors Ben Quash and Michael Ward present eleven
Christian heresies, their origins, and ways to avoid them, and ending the book by arguing for
orthodoxy through an explanation of Biblical Trinitarianism, why it is important, and why Christians
should defend it. The majority of the heresies discussed deal with the nature of Christ and his
personhood, including Arianism and Docetism. The rest of the discussed heresies deal with issues of
the Christian life and the church, such as Marcionism and Pelagianism. The goal of this book is to
explain a number of basic heresies in order to show why it matters what Christians believe. The
authors of this book presented an argument for Christian orthodoxy by presenting eleven heresies,
refuting them, and then presenting a case for Biblical Trinitarianism. Within each refutation, the
authors gave an overview of the origin of the heresy, including Key Scriptures that were used as
evidence for the heresy or were important in refuting the heresy and backing orthodoxy. After giving a
brief history of each heresy, the authors detail the main defenders of orthodoxy against a given heresy.
Each chapter ends with reasons the heresy is a heresy and affirmations of orthodoxy. For example,
after talking about the origins of Donatism in North Africa because of the unholy consecration of
Caecilian, Augustine s defense of orthodoxy against Donatism is covered detailing how he argued

Globalization in regard to worldwide equality Introduction Globalization has changed much about the
way that people perceive the world and it influenced individuals to express less interest in ideas like
nationalism and borders. Even with this, one is likely to observe that these two concepts can be
considered responsible for the deaths of hundreds of millions of people throughout history, thus
meaning that globalization can practically be considered an idea that directly contradicts nationalism
and borders. It is surely difficult to determine whether or not globalization has had a positive effect on
the world, but when looking at matters from the perspective of developing countries experiencing
rapid progress one might be inclined to assume that it would only be safe for him or her to claim that
the process has actually led to greater global equality. Globalization as a confusing concept Many fail
to have a clear understanding of globalization and what it entails. This is largely owed to the fact that
society largely promotes globalization as a process that is going to overcome hunger, poverty, and
deprivation (Munck, 1). In contrast, other believe that it is actually responsible for many of the
problems that the contemporary social order is experiencing. All things considered, people need to
acknowledge that the matter is very complex and that refrain from thinking that it is not actually
problematic to analyze the matter. This process does not only involve

The Internationalisation Process Of Nigerian Firms
The main objective of this study is to investigate the internationalisation process of Nigerian firms
empirically as this is one of the few studies that have taken this approach in the context of the study
using seven case firms. As agreed with the case firms and the University of Huddersfield ethics
committee, a pseudonym approach is applied to keep the real names of the firms anonymous; the 7
Nigerian case firms pseudonym is ADG, BDM, CCR, DET, ENA, FCW and GAB. In comparison to
other large emerging markets and developed economies Nigerian firms are still in an early stage of
development as most sectors of the economy are in their infancy stage. The firms expansion
behaviours both domestically and internationally would to some extent have an impact on or alter the
mainstream internationalisation process theories. Three research questions were developed to address
the objectives of this study (1) Do existing internationalisation theories explain the internationalisation
process of Nigerian firms? (2) How do emerging markets multinationals evolve and expand over time?
(3) How do EMNCs internationalise at the early stage of their foreign expansion? With a study design
using multiple data collection methods, the appropriate data analysis technique is paramount to
enhance the study quality as well as achieve the study objectives. Yin, (2014) asserts that data analysis
is through examining, categorising, tabulating and recombining of data from various sources of
evidence

Social Colonialism And Social Darwinism
Social Darwinism was a sociological theory that merged Charles Darwin s theory of natural selection
and the work of Herbert Spencer, Malthus, and other scientific and sociological theorists to justify
imperialism, racism, and conservative economic policies. The overall acceptance of the power of
nature in defining human beings developed during the 18th century Enlightenment. Europe s
exploration not only brought about immense economic and agricultural growth, but also exposed them
to human behavior and life patterns within environments and under circumstances dramatically
different than their own (4). The most popular catch phrases of Darwinism, struggle for existence and
survival of the fittest , when applied to the life of man in society, suggested that nature would provide
that the best competitors in a competitive situation would win, and that this process would lead to
continuing improvement (6. Hoft). This misinterpreted sense of superiority engulfed much of society
at the time and was used to justify the logistics behind certain actions regarding capitalism, racism,
and imperialism. Furthermore, it served as the backbone of some of the most heinous acts imaginable
including the genocide and sterilization of certain groups of people.
The first business of a colonist is to clear the country of wild beasts, and the most noxious of all wild
beasts is the wild man , unknown (87). Social Darwinism was the product of late nineteenth century
economic and political

The Legacy Of The Ford Motor Company
On June 17, 1903 the Ford Motor Company was organized. The date is the day the deal started for
Henry Ford not because the company had his name, the day all his hard work would start to payoff. To
look at the deal from just one day would not do justice to the brilliant way and intertwined ways
Henry Ford took the world by storm. From the start in Ford s garage to the offices of lawyers, and
then on to control of the largest automotive companies in the world one can see the deal was just a key
to Mr. Ford s future. To start, Henry Ford was born on a family farm during the Civil War. This is what
would drive Mr. Ford; not wanting to be a farmer and wanting to work on machinery. Unsatisfied with
farm work, Ford left home the following year, at the age of 16, to take an apprenticeship as a
machinist in Detroit. In the years that followed, he would learn to skillfully operate and service steam
engines, and would also study bookkeeping. Later Henry Ford would work for the Edison Lighting
Company as an engineer, later Ford would become chief engineer. Ford got a chance to meet Thomas
Edison and showed Edison his plans for his first horseless carriage. This meeting would lead to a
friendship that would help Ford when designing his assembly line. Another account of Ford s early
years says, In 1879 he left the farm to become an apprentice at the Michigan Car Company, a
manufacturer of railroad cars in Detroit. Over the next two and one half years he held several similar
jobs,

  • 2. America s Current Health Care System According to Joe Conason, America s current health care system wastes considerably more than a trillion dollars every year. We know that because countries such as France, Germany, Japan and Finland, with comparable standards of living to ours, spend roughly half what the United States spends annually on health care per citizen, while covering everyone and achieving better results. (Conason, 2009) The United States healthcare financial systems are severely flawed affecting the overall cost control, services, and care made accessible to its clients. The rising costs in healthcare are reaching new highs, and with rising costs, there doesn t seem to be much change in the quality of the care being given. Clients coming in and out of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you combine the fifty five million who have been uninsured in a given year with the additional thirty million Americans who are under insured, you get to a total of eighty five million Americans with inadequate protection against the cost of illness (Blumenthal, 2014) Millions of Americans cannot afford healthcare services, and therefore have no financial defense in battling illnesses. Even with the affordable care act in place, there is a constant struggle for many who cannot afford the premiums that come with these insurance policies. One of the reasons why we have uninsurance in the United States is that it has become increasingly unaffordable to purchase insurance because the cost of care and the premiums for care have gone up at multiples of the rates of increase of wages and of the cost of living in the United States (Blumenthal, 2014) One way to combat these costs is to keep in mind the geographical location of these individuals. By taking this information into consideration, healthcare facilities can better focus on the types of services and care they offer their clients. It s important to keep in mind the type of customers that they are primarily dealing with, for example, are these facilities located in an area primarily made up of an elder population? or an area with many young individuals? • 3. Antithetical Approach To Marriage In The Duchess Of Malfi Webster has depicted an antithetical approach to marriage within his Senecan play, The Duchess of Malfi. The play was written in the Jacobean era which, at the time, was a patriarchal society and so by creating a dominant female protagonist, who did just about whatever she pleased Webster has managed to incorporate a semantic field of death and pain to fit alongside his juxtapositions of a typical Jacobean marriage. To begin, Webster uses the idea of marriage being equal to ownership and power over another. As a widow the Duchess has the potential to wield power independently of a husband and sever her allegiances to other male kin, for instance her misogynistic brothers. The first way she exerts this power is through her declarative marriage proposal to Antonio a young widow// That claims you for her husband . Through the use of the transitive verb claims Webster has made the Duchess seem strong and dominant, asserting her power of high blood over the steward Antonio. This power scares Antonio, understandably so, as his role in a marriage would usually be the dominating one and typically the husband owned the wife, specifically through the law of feme covert , so far, we see that the Duchess tries to draw Antonio up to her level of status thus aligning with feme covert (her legal identity is being subsumed by him). However, Antonio does fear this You do tremble: Make not your heart so dead a piece of flesh and is therefore intimidated by the assertive Duchess. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During that era, [t]he implication for women was that work outside the home was a stage, not a right, and that the mature woman belonged at home (Strom 363). Women worked only until marriage and then they dedicated themselves to their husbands and children. Snow White personifies this role. She is adventurous and self sustained after she runs into the forest, and helps the dwarves with housework, yet she desperately waits for the moment a prince will save her. In that era, [w]omen saw themselves as powerless in the world outside the home, and they relinquished any notions of rebelling against male coworkers or bosses in order to inherit their traditional authority at home as wives and mothers (Strom 359). We can see this in the film when Snow White is powerless while running through the forest, but becomes an authority figure once she is at the dwarves home. Once the prince saves her, she becomes powerless, fully dependent on him, and no longer has to worry about sustaining herself. Her stepmother, on the other hand, does not have a prince to depend on, and has ill self esteem. She values self image but is not as beautiful as Snow White, who is youthful and pure. It is no doubt that this section can be viewed as the core of the whole project because it depends on a variety of econometric tools to evaluate the financial data. The findings consist of two major aspects: the one is on the examination of the strong version of PPP, namely APPP; the other is on the test of RPPP, also known as the weak form of PPP. 5.2 Findings of Testing for APPP As stated earlier, the APPP is based on the law of one price, stating that the real exchange rate is equal to one. The formula is written by: (5) For the convenience of our research, the equation above can be simplified to: (6) where Et represents the nominal bilateral exchange rate, Pt* is the CPI in Japan, Pt means the Indian CPI. In the twisting tales of A Rose for Emily and The Jilting of Granny Weatherall the recurring theme of denial continuously reminds the reader that life is precious and to never take anything for granted. William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily focuses on the life and death of Emily Grierson. Although the story begins with her death, the details of her life are revealed through several elements. Emily is ultimately jilted by the man she falls in love with, Homer Barron, and poisons him to ensure a lifelong commitment. A similar theme appears within Katherine Anne Porter s The Jilting of Granny Weatherall Ellen Weatherall, is on her deathbed as the story begins. The narrator discusses Granny s life and the struggles she faced in the past. As Granny lays upon her deathbed, she recalls all the things she has to do and all the chores she has left undone. She also remarks the element of surprise at the fact that death has come upon her. Not only do these two stories repeatedly use elements such as symbolism and foreshadowing the authors create a relatively similar theme that not only delivers a powerful message but is a timeless classic. The U.S constitution laid out the framework for the future government of our country, everything from the branches of our government to our rights as U.S citizens. As our country has evolved from the institution of the constitution to our modern day country, the representation of the the people has expanded and changed in the years since the establishment of the U.S constitution. To begin, why did the framers choose to start the constitution with we the people? During the creation process of the constitution the framers had one thing in mind and that was to create a system of government that was anything but the tyranny Britain had. Perhaps the biggest flaw Great Britain had been the lack of voice the citizens of England had. Not even the Articles of Confederation began or even mentioned the people in the document. It only made sense for the foundation of our country s future to revolve around the thing that allows our government to function. The citizens run the government, if the citizens don t go out and fight for things to get done then nothing will ever get done. This is why we have representatives in each state to listen to what the people have to say on issues and laws. Another point referring to both the government of Britain and the articles of confederation is that by saying we the people it shows that the constitution ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The armed forces did their best to influence national memory by impressing, the dirty war had been a legitimate antirevolutionary war against a guerrilla insurgency supported by Cuba and the Soviet Union. The statements from the Junta failed to convince the Argentine people not only because they knew that it was false, but because the fate of the disappeared was of an overarching public concern. The meaning of a disappeared as someone alive yet missing changed into someone dead yet unaccounted for. Unlike in the case of the Holocaust, where the absence of proof of the death of millions of concentration camps, the Argentine dirty war lacked such open ideological framework and visible infrastructure of mass murder. The Argentine military always denied having the disappeared in secret detention and thus nurtured a hope among relatives that was hard to abandon. Furthermore, the political reality of an Argentina climbing out of years of authoritarianism did not allow for the public acceptance of a presumption of death without the presence of a corpse. How does Luther s use of them respond to the dominant question of the sixteenth century: How can I know that God is favorable to me? The three alones in Reformation theology refer to that which is needed for justification or salvation favorableness in the sight of God. Luther describes them as 1) Christ, or the Gospel of Christ (Scripture), alone, 2) faith alone, and 3) grace alone. Each of these three are essentially united in Luther s theology. Christ is the most important factor in the three, because without Christ and without His Word, as recorded in Scripture, one cannot begin to have faith or hope to receive the necessary grace that comes with faith and guarantees salvation. As Luther states, One thing, and one alone, is necessary for life, justification, and Christian liberty; and that is the most holy word of God, the Gospel of Christ (Luther, p. 9). Through Christ and the preaching of His Word comes belief. If one believes, that is has faith, which implies trust and commitment, then one is justified and has found favor in God s eyes: For faith alone, and the efficacious use of the word of God, bring salvation (Luther, p. 9) Luther downplays the importance of works in the justification of man and instead emphasizes the place of faith and the grace that goes with it: For the word of God cannot be received and honoured by any works, ... That s the one date everyone remembers, the date in virtually every school child s history textbook. But, they leave out pretty much everything about Columbus and his exploration of the New World. It s the part many people have yet to learn about. For years, Columbus has been presented to us as a hero. In 1934, President Roosevelt even gave Columbus his own holiday. To this day, we celebrate his discovery of America. What is found in history textbooks now, have seemed to show another side of Christopher Columbus, a side that they wouldn t dare teach in elementary school. REASONS FOR HIM NOT BEEN A HERO Columbus gets a lot of credit for discovering land that already had people living on it, a land that has already been encountered by other people way before Columbus was even born. In 70,000 to 12,000 B.C. Siberia explorers sailed to Alaska. In 10,000 600 B.C., Siberians also went to Canada and the state we now call New Mexico. A little more recently the Vikings in 1000 1350 came from Greenland and Iceland. They traveled to Labrado, Baffin Land, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Cape Cod and further south. Around 1311 and 1460 explorers from West Africa came across to Haiti, Panama, and Brazil (Loewen 48). These were only a few of the many encounters of the Americas. A result of these explorations was the establishment of Indian villages and the life they began to lead. The fact that Columbus didn t actually discover America isn t the idea that is most disturbing when considering misleading history that children are taught. In the article, Guide to a Golden Age, by Canon Comerford, it says, For Yeats, the holy city of Byzantium especially the Byzantium of Justinian represented a golden age that produced lasting cultural monuments: the Justinian Code, which provided the basis of European law, and so many works of art and architecture. However, when those people continue to stay strong and fight, they accomplish amazing things and learn more than they could have ever imagined. Truth is, everybody will face trials in life, but it s how people react to them that makes a difference. In the article, Wise Words From Wise Leaders, by Kenyon Craig, it says, We all face adversity at some point in our lives. Our success lies in how we handle it. Many of us allow challenges to defeat us. What I say to you is this: accept your challenge head on. If you focus on developing into a stronger and wiser individual, you will succeed not in spite of, but because of the very challenges you face. The most successful people in life don t get that way from having it easy in life. When a person accepts a challenge and learns from their mistakes and hardships that is when they are able to rise above the rest. Why? Because they understand concepts that others couldn t even begin to grasp. They know the importance of life and just how drastically it can change. They appreciate what they have and cherish the little things in life. • 26. Similarities Between Macbeth And The White Witch Macbeth vs. White Witch The strive of ambition for power can seem to be true perfection, but one should be careful what they wish for, because that power might be exactly what caused their downfall. This is true in William Shakespeare s story of a man named Macbeth. And C.J. Lewis s novel about a White Witch, Jadis. Merciless, cruel, and power hungry, both Macbeth and the White Witch portray an image of pure evil. Although the White Witch Macbeth are named royalty King or Queen ,they never deserved the title. She calls herself the Queen of Narnia thought she has no right to be queen at all, and all the Fauns and Dryands and Naiads and Dwarfs and Animals at least all the good ones simply hate her (Lewis). Since the White Witch is the Queen of Narnia, she cursed the land and made it winter forever, but never allowed the time to reach Christmas. In the story of Narnia, it s easy to tell what creatures are good, and what creatures represent evil; the darker, more scary Narnians are the White Witch s only followers. On the other hand, Macbeth doesn t deserve to be King either: The prince of Cumberland! That is a step on which I must fall down, or else o erleap, For in my way it lies. Stars, hide your fires; Let not lights see my black and deep desires. The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be Which the eye fears, when it is done, to see (Macbeth, Act 1 Scene 4). Macbeth already knows he will perform a horrible deed to secure his spot as King, that he ll either have to give up or step up over the Prince of Cumberland. Foreshadowing, Macbeth does end up completing his evil thoughts and ideas. One of the only reasons Macbeth or the White Witch has any followers Lady Macbeth other Narnians is because of the use of fear and power. Described in the novel, The Witch sways many Narnians to her side out of fear or lust for power, so that the Narnians are divided and are completely terrified (Lewis). As the head of the forces of Evil, the White Witch isn t playing a lone hand. There are many different types of creatures in Narnia that follow her, and she merely acts as their captain. A Compartment Of Tendon Progenitors A Somitic Compartment of Tendon Progenitors Summary Tendons are some of the most important tissues in the body of any organism, transferring the power created by the muscles to the bones and allowing coordinated body movements to occur. However, until recently there was very little known about the origin of this tissue and most of the research performed focused on the limbs and the tendons associated with them. Along with the limited amount of research seemingly none of it was focused on the axial and ventrolateral body wall tendons. Double whole mount in situ hybridization was used to compare Scx in progenitor cells, Pax1 in sclerotome, and MyoD in myotome. Scx expression was restricted to the anterior and posterior borders while MyoD expression was present in the center of the myotome with no overlap of the two markers. When Scx was compared to Pax1 it appeared that they existed in the same region; however, Pax1 was expressed more ventromedial and Scx was closer to the myotome, these markers did not have any overlap either. Additionally, Scx expression occurred much later in development compared to MyoD and Pax1(Kiefer and Hauschka, 2001; Stockdale et al., 2000). It showed that the Scx expression progenitor cells had a distinct fate producing a separate compartment of tendon progenitor cells, which did not overlap with the adjacent tissues. To establish the origin of the syndetome a fate map was created using a chick quail chimera where two successive sclerotomes or dermomyotomes were transplanted from a quail to a chick embryo. • 33. The Myth Of The Old Testament The Old Testament generally presents a familial narrative in which the whole human race descends from one family. This unfolds itself and then focuses in on Abraham, from whom the line of inheritance is drawn to Israel. The Israelites are distinctly filled with flaws throughout their history. Whereas Rome as noble stories of war and triumph, Israel has stories of Old Men wandering the desert. Their ancestors and heroic figures are not demigods nor epic heros, but merely wandering men of faith, Patriarchs sold into slavery, and sheep herders. God forges His chosen people from the outcasts of humanity. In forging a people of His own, God is named their Father. He is called such in the Old Testament in two distinct ways. First, as specifically the God of Israel. Second, The Father of Israel s king. Explicit notions of God as the Father of Israel number nine, while He is mentioned as the Father of the King five times. There are many times in which Israel is called the son of, or the Israelites are called the children of, God. The narrative that unfolds with God as the Father of a Nation and their King is especially vital to understanding the Old Testament. The Old Testament s explicit mention of God as the Father of Israel come especially in Deuteronomy, the Psalms, and the Prophets. Ben Quash And Michael Ward In the book Heresies and How to Avoid Them, authors Ben Quash and Michael Ward present eleven Christian heresies, their origins, and ways to avoid them, and ending the book by arguing for orthodoxy through an explanation of Biblical Trinitarianism, why it is important, and why Christians should defend it. The majority of the heresies discussed deal with the nature of Christ and his personhood, including Arianism and Docetism. The rest of the discussed heresies deal with issues of the Christian life and the church, such as Marcionism and Pelagianism. The goal of this book is to explain a number of basic heresies in order to show why it matters what Christians believe. The authors of this book presented an argument for Christian orthodoxy by presenting eleven heresies, refuting them, and then presenting a case for Biblical Trinitarianism. Within each refutation, the authors gave an overview of the origin of the heresy, including Key Scriptures that were used as evidence for the heresy or were important in refuting the heresy and backing orthodoxy. After giving a brief history of each heresy, the authors detail the main defenders of orthodoxy against a given heresy. Each chapter ends with reasons the heresy is a heresy and affirmations of orthodoxy. Globalization in Regard to Worldwide Equality Globalization in regard to worldwide equality Introduction Globalization has changed much about the way that people perceive the world and it influenced individuals to express less interest in ideas like nationalism and borders. Even with this, one is likely to observe that these two concepts can be considered responsible for the deaths of hundreds of millions of people throughout history, thus meaning that globalization can practically be considered an idea that directly contradicts nationalism and borders. It is surely difficult to determine whether or not globalization has had a positive effect on the world, but when looking at matters from the perspective of developing countries experiencing rapid progress one might be inclined to assume that it would only be safe for him or her to claim that the process has actually led to greater global equality. Globalization as a confusing concept Many fail to have a clear understanding of globalization and what it entails. This is largely owed to the fact that society largely promotes globalization as a process that is going to overcome hunger, poverty, and deprivation (Munck, 1). • 41. Social Colonialism And Social Darwinism Social Darwinism was a sociological theory that merged Charles Darwin s theory of natural selection and the work of Herbert Spencer, Malthus, and other scientific and sociological theorists to justify imperialism, racism, and conservative economic policies. The overall acceptance of the power of nature in defining human beings developed during the 18th century Enlightenment. Europe s exploration not only brought about immense economic and agricultural growth, but also exposed them to human behavior and life patterns within environments and under circumstances dramatically different than their own (4). The most popular catch phrases of Darwinism, struggle for existence and survival of the fittest , when applied to the life of man in society, suggested that nature would provide that the best competitors in a competitive situation would win, and that this process would lead to continuing improvement (6. Hoft). This misinterpreted sense of superiority engulfed much of society at the time and was used to justify the logistics behind certain actions regarding capitalism, racism, and imperialism.
