Tier 1 Vocabulary
Vocabulary is the knowledge of words that able us to communicate with others orally, or in writing,
and it is acquired through listening or reading. A learning experience of vocabulary, that is called
indirect, is obtained when children engage in daily conversation with family and friends, through read
aloud by adults, or through own reading. Instead, the learning experience of vocabulary, gained
through teacher word instruction, it s called direct.
Importance to the Reading Process As children learn new vocabulary words while learning to read,
they understand and make connection with the sounding of the letters already acquired, to the word
they see in print. Even though children learn the vocabulary meanings, usually through indirect
experiences, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Innovative Rise And Effects Of Computer Corporations
THE INNOVATIVE RISE AND EFFECTS OF COMPUTER CORPORATIONS According to The
History, Development, and Importance of Personal Computers of Science and Its Times, in 2001,
estimates believed that there will be 2 billion PCs in use worldwide as of 2014. Today, computers have
changed our modern society. Almost every human being is using a computer either by ordering out a
drive thru at a fast food restaurant or even just surfing the web. Computers allow the world to be

Hawaii Coral Reef
Introduction
The purpose of this research is to apply the knowledge learned about the ecology of the Hawaiian
Coral Reef to a real life situation. The coral reef stretches over 1,000 miles in the Pacific Ocean. In the
Pacific Ocean, near the 124 islands of Hawaii, is the Hawaiian Coral Reef, which covers nearly 1,200
miles. Out of all the coral reefs in the world, the Hawaiian reef consists of 85% of all reefs. Coral
Reefs are made of organisms, coral, and limestone skeletons. 25% of organisms are not existent
anywhere else in the world. Abiotic factors are nonliving things, and abiotic factors of a coral reef are

Armed Rebel Group Research Paper
Suicide bombers, rebel groups, minefield clearers, and soldiers are words used to describe these
children in a terrible situation. In places like Afghanistan, Iran, and Guantanamo Bay children as
young as 5 years old are apprehended from their families, and are taken to army camps to fight against
the U.S backed government. These children are so innocent, but many think that they need to be
arrested for what they are doing. Instead of playing on a playground with their families they are
brainwashed, drugged, forced to kill, and poisoned with alcoholic beverages.
These kids are in no condition for fighting in armed rebel groups but the numbers of these kids are
starting to go up. Over 8,000 children are fighting in armed rebel groups, battling the U.S backed
government. They are taught to kill and are forced to think that killing is a good thing, plus, the guns
they are supposed to use are even heavier than most of these kids, so that clearly shows they shouldn t
be using them. These child soldiers need to be put in rehabilitation instead of being put in prison, they

Chemical Pollution
Biological, Chemical, and Physical Agent
Water pollution is caused when water contains excessive amounts of biological agents
microorganisms, such as bacterial species, viruses, worms, and/or algae. This type of pollution is
caused by decaying organic material in water, animal wastes, as well as improper disposal of human
wastes. Chemical pollution is defined as the presence or increase in our environment of chemical
pollutants that are not naturally present, or are found in amounts higher than normal. Most of the
chemicals that pollute the environment are man made, resulting from the various activities in which
toxic chemicals are used for various purposes. The impacts are normally identified with the
introduction to high measures of chemicals. Chemical contamination prompts different valid
sicknesses, by and large by devouring toxic food, drinking exceptionally tainted water, or breathing
poor quality air.

while his brother was basically just another hoodlum in the streets, as he says. On the bright side, after
seeing all of the wrong paths that his brother had taken, his mother Nancy did not allow much room

Fluorescent signals are emitted when there is reaction between the immobilized protein and the probe,
which are captured by the laser scanners. Thus they are used in protein expression profiling, studying
protein protein interactions, enzyme substrate interactions, protein ligand interaction and differentially
expressed proteins screening on a large scale.
6. X Ray Crystallography and NMR are two common methods used to study protein structures. X Ray
Crystallography NMR
Principle Protein molecules are crystallized and exposed to X rays. A crystal arranges a large number
of molecules in the same orientation, so the scattered waves add up in phase and raise the signal.
Protein molecules are made soluble in buffered liquid and isotopically labeled. Therefore, allows
thermodynamics, studies of the kinetics aspects of structures and interactions with other components.
Physical state Frozen solid state Liquid state in buffered solution
Time Longer time in screening and optimization but short time for processing data. Short time for
preparation but long time for data analysis.

Borderline Personality Disorder And Personality Disorders
Borderline Personality Disorder
Emani J. Mills
Psychology of Personality
Catinia Farrington
INTRODUCTION
Personality disorders have been documented in approximately 9 percent of the general U.S. population
(Angstman, Rasmussen, 2011). Emotional dysregulation disorder or its common name borderline
personality disorder is a very serious and chronic disorder. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Disorders Fourth Edition (DSM IV) describes borderline personality disorder as a pervasive
pattern of instability of interpersonal relationships, self image, and affects, and marked impulsivity
that begins by early adulthood and is present in a variety of contexts (Gardner, 2006). Within the last
20 years, psychologists and other mental health professionals have made tremendous strides in
research on what exactly borderline personality disorder, some of its triggers and possible effective
treatment options. Borderline personality disorder is defined as a disorder that generates severe
emotional instability which can be a springboard that can lead to other stress induced mental and
behavioral problems.
HOW IS BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER DIAGNOSED?
Personality disorders is an umbrella term. There are a variety of personality disorders, and each
disorder has its own unique identifier that makes them different from other personality disorders.
Because each personality disorder differs from the next, these disorders are separated and is

americanisation of australian television Essay
The Americanization of Australian Television is a sad and terrible thing. It is a process whereby
ordinary Australians are bombarded every day with images of American lifestyle, so much that it
merges almost unnoticed into their own lifestyle. It is a process whereby our home grown
entertainment industry is overwhelmed by the enormous powerhouse of the American economy, with
drastic effects upon the modern Australian nation. Not only is Australian free to air TV being
dominated by American produced shows, but a lot of the content on the Australian TV shows is
sourced from America. American culture is part of Australian mass consumer culture, It dominates our
television.

David Dale). So whilst there are many Australians concerned over this issue there are so many more
that do not see the affect the American TV culture is having on Australian television and its identity,
the distinction between what is inside and outside Australian culture is slipping away.
The influence of Americanisation upon Australian Free to air TV is clearly evident, If we look at the
top 10 shows that are viewed by the Australian public today it would be obvious that the top two
shows are both American produced, Lost and Desperate Housewives (Top 10 shows, Who Magazine.).
Lost and Desperate Housewives are doing very well, loading up the viewing figures in the US favour.
But go back six months and the picture would be far more balanced. Jump eight years back, and Blue
Heelers was holding its own against Friends (Bell Phillip, Television 1997 Twenty Most popular
programs). The Australian audience is becoming more Americanised, as more and more prefer
watching American TV shows opposed to the ones made in Australia. Shows like SVU, Law and
Order, CSI (and its derivatives), NCIS, and the OC, dominate the TV screens of many Australian
households today. Ordinary Australians spend many hours watching TV (especially Australian youth),

The Role Of Bread In Japanese Economic History
Food of Efficiency : The Role of Bread in Japanese Economic History from the 1910s to the 1960s
The history of bread in Japan began in the early Meiji Period, when Kimuraya Sohonten, a Tokyo
bread store, opened and invented Anpan, a popular sweet bread with red bean paste inside.
Approximately one hundred and fifty years have passed since then. In these 150 years, Japan s
numerous social changes have shifted and redefined the role of bread in the Japanese diet. Frist, bread
was a popular novelty food and a status symbol until the beginning of the 20th century . Between the
1910s and the 1960s, bread functioned as a food of efficiency and eventually became one of the main
staple foods in Japan. Form the 1970s to the present, bread has reformed into a form of snack in the
Japanese daily diet . While appreciating the delicate contemporary bread snacks , one might also
notice the contrast between bread s role as snack now and its role as a food of efficiency before. How
did bread become a food of efficiency, and what was the significance of this part of the history of
bread in Japan? From the beginning of World War I in the 1910s to Japan s Economy Miracle in the
1960s, bread served as a food of efficiency and the history of bread in Japan closely reflected the
country s industrialization and economy growth. Bread started its transformation into one staple food
of Japan in the 1910s. Japan had won the First Sino Japanese War and the Russo Japanese War in the

types of the ways in The Crucible the people in there get hurt a lot. Where Proctor tells Elizabeth peer

her talking about his wife like that because he loves her but Abigail loved Proctor and she didn t want

Compare And Contrast Alka-Seltzer With Hydrochloric Acid
The purpose of this experiment was to mix Alka Seltzer with Hydrochloric acid in order to analyze
Sodium Bicarbonate as an active ingredient in the Alka Seltzer. The mixture will contain hydrochloric
acid to only see the composition of Sodium Bicarbonate in the tablet once it reacts. The amount that
reacted allowed us to determine how much of it is present in the tablet. The amount of sodium
bicarbonate will be measure by using the ideal gas law PV=nRT. The experiment will be conducted in
the lab, therefore we are going to use room temperature which ranges from 15 to 26 degrees celsius.
At room temperature pressure ranges from 12.8 to 25.0 millimeters mercury according to its
corresponding room temperature. In the ideal gas equation R is 0.08206latm/mol k which is a constant.
Once we have those values we can calculates the number of moles that reacted in the mixture by
solving for the missing value. With the number of moles we are able to find the mass in grams which
is what will potentially tell us the composition of Sodium Bicarbonate in a tablet of Alka Seltzer.
Results: There were three different runs in order to have comparable data and to increase the validity
of the experiment. The first run gave 39% of Sodium Bicarbonate. The second run gave 34% of
Sodium Bicarbonate while the third one gave 39%, which is the same as the first run. The average
percentage was 37% which is much lower than the manufacturer s percentage of 59%. The percent
error came out to be 37%.
Discussion: The manufacturer results shows that Alka Seltzer has 1.9 grams per tablet. In the
experiment the results are too small compared to the number that is given by the label. In the first run
only .0588 grams reacted to the acid. That suggest that the tablet only contains 0.588 grams of sodium
bicarbonate which is very different from the manufacturers. The second run gave an even smaller
number of gram. In terms of moles only .0007 reacted in the first and third run and only .0006 in the
second run. There are many factor that could had alter the amount of moles that reacted to the acid
which affected the result in showing that there is a smaller composition of sodium bicarbonate in the
tablet than that of the manufacturer s. The

The Levels Of Hierarchy Of Needs
Motivation is defined as the general desire or willingness of someone to do something. Numerous
incidents occur in our lives where we are motivated and numerous incidents occur where we lack any
motivation. As I am a full time student and not currently working, I chose to write this paper on my
motivation to finish my education and attain a higher level degree in health care. According to
Abraham H. Maslow s Theory, there are five levels of hierarchy of needs. During the first level, we

Steve Reiss s Theory and idea of status states that status is attained through the desire for prestige. It
also means that a person is very conscious about reputation and how they are viewed by those around

everyone is born into. In the Indian culture, life is dominated by the caste system. I was born to a

parents enjoyed a life of high materialistic value. Those in the upper class also valued the importance
of education because those who had prestigious college degrees were the ones who were highly

live with today. I want to continue to earn the respect of my family and those in the Indian community
by going on to earn my PhD. There are positive and negative components of the Indian caste system,
but it is a custom and a practice that has been followed for centuries. There are many periods in our

Should Healthcare Workers Have Tattoos Research Paper
Healthcare professionals, who are trying to get a job, shouldn t be denied based on their physical
appearances. People get judged derived from their appearances, especially professionals with tattoos.
A person gets a tattoo not because he or she is bored or wants attention, but because that ink represents
a significant story in their life. There is nothing wrong with having tattoos when you re a healthcare
professional. Indeed, there are a lot of ways a person can cover up the ink; for instance, wearing
sleeves or covering them up with a watch of bracelets, so that patients won t aloof themselves to the
employee. It is not a crime to have tattoo nor does it show how intelligent a person is, but the
credibility of that person is what matters the most. According to a survey published in the Journal of
the American Academy of Dermatology, in 2006 the statistics showed that of the people who were
born between 1975 and 1986, 36% of them have at least one tattoo. There percentage increased

Greg In Scripture
Greg then launches into the topic of prayer, he says, The Pharisees were caught up in repeating
ritualized prayers over and over again. They seemed to believe that the longer the prayer, the more
spiritual and pleasing to God. But God isn t interested in eloquence. Not at all. Prayer should come
from the heart. He isn t interested in how perfectly our prayers sound, or whether they rhyme, or
whether we throw in any King James English, or how long they are. He is concerned with how
genuine they are. One of the most eloquent prayers in Scripture comes from a man who said, God, be
merciful to me a sinner! (Luke 18:13). Now that is an effective prayer. That is a man who was honest
with God. He said what he was thinking and simply laid it out before the Lord. And guess what? Jesus
Himself said that man s prayer was heard. Greg then goes on to use the Lord s prayer as a guide to
show us how to pray. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Case Study Sick Leave
Sick Leave In case study 8 Sick Leave, and the cross culture communication is a dilemma because of
the differences in work ethics between an employee from the United States working in Japan, and
what is expected by the supervisor in Japan. The difference is the fact that Kelly, the Canadian
employee, is highly educated in the field of management, and wants to follow employment rules and
regulations to the best of her ability, within both her norm as well as what is written in her current
employment.. On the other hand, the Supervisor in Japan, Mr. Higashi, he wishes to hold to the loyalty

rules and regulations. With this scenario the conflict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Higashi and Kelly. With Mr. Higashi the intangible factor would be his work and cultural ethics when
it comes to work. The Japanese are hardworking and very loyal as they tend to stay with one employer
for long time and choose not to use their earned vacation time no matter what employment regulations
state. Additionally, when a Japanese employee is sick, they use paid time off rather than sick leave,
and this has become the norm broadly across the culture.
With Kelly, the tangible factor is the fact that she became ill and appropriately notified her supervisor,
then expected and wanted to use sick time, as employee regulations clearly outline. This falls within
her norm as she learned in the U.S./Canadian as she received her management degree from the
Canadian University.
When dealing with tangible or intangible factors such as in this scenario, while both are important the
tangible factors are more important because such as Kelly working through the JET program, written
regulations and employment laws are very important to follow. If they are not, the program may be
doomed to fail over time because is regulations are not followed, there could be a strong decline of

The Consequences Of Huck Finn
As certain characters use language as a source of power, others use it to help others. It is these
different motivations that sharpen the image for who has good and bad intentions, allowing differing
consequences to occur. As a result of lying, this leads to conflicting morals and inevitable
consequences that have an impact on everyone else. In the novel Huck Finn Mark Twain argues that
lying is wrong and is a source of power that certain characters use to either help others or themselves;
however, the consequences are different due to these different motivations with characters such as the
King, Duke and Huck who end up having a greater impact on the rest of the community.
Although Huck lies to help others most of the time, his conflicting morals hold him back which results
in a stronger impact than intended. In the beginning of the novel, Huck states, You don t know about
me, without you have read a book by the name of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, but that ain t no
matter. That book was made by Mr. Mark Twain, and he told the truth, mainly. There was things which
he stretched, but mainly he told the truth(Twain 11). Huck is defensive and makes it clear that he is
trustworthy and does not lie, which is not true. Huck questions his morals later on in the novel when
he lies to his father when he says, I hain t got no money. It s a lie. Judge Thatcher s got it. You git it. I
want it. I hain t got no money, I tell you. You ask Judge Thatcher; he ll tell you the

Plastic Surgery has become a wide topic in the United States. Plastic surgery is also known as, the
reconstruction surgery that involves the restoration of a function to a damaged body part and the
rebuilding of normal physical contours when parts of the body such as the nose, jaw, ears, or fingers

overall percentage on plastic surgery dropped by forty percent for the first time in a decade, total
cosmetic procedures for women and men dropped below thirty one thousand that was the lowest since
the year od 2006. I believe that plastic surgery has very many cons towards it. There are many
statistics that prove that plastic surgery can be a harmful idea to the body. However, there is also many
positive thoughts when looking at the overall picture with plastic surgery. According to the article

All Quiet On The Western Front Summer Analysis
Summer Analysis Essay Society s institutions are needed in the world to keep order, peace, and
organization; however, these institutions can also have the opposite effect on many people. Often, the
institutions of society may be used as a reason to behave immorally or to justify this immoral
behavior. In The Picture of Dorian Gray, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and All Quiet on the
Western Front, the protagonists all struggle with these institutions and with forming their own moral
code, whether bad or good. In all three novels, society s institutions corrupt and destroy individuals,

society. These novels mirror the authors societies, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would go to work and steal Jim out of slavery, Huck shares, showing that he would be willing to risk
his life and reputation to free his friend, Jim (Twain 195). Instead of this institution creating kind,
caring, compassionate learners and leaders, the educational institution instills primitive, old world
values into its students in the South. However, because Huck escaped this formal Southern education,
he has good morals. Southern society considers Huck an uneducated, ignorant boy, but it is he who
possesses far more knowledge and compassion than any educated person of the South, showing the
hypocrisy of the society in which he lives. Huck relates, It was kind of lazy and jolly, laying off

his Pap (Twain 25). He does not enjoy a formal education of books and work, but can still appreciate
the beauty and curiosities of the world, in nature and its people. Huck is able to see past the barriers

Predetermined Verdicts
Predetermined verdicts can be found in The Trial and A Jury of Her Peers. In The Trial, all of Josef K.
s attempts to prove his innocence result in failure because the court, which is more like a central
power in the society he lives in, determined him to be guilty at the same instant he was accused. In
this society, there is no chance of being acquitted. There are other options, but K. says, Both methods
have this in common: they prevent the accused from being convicted. But they also prevent an
acquittal (Kafka 161). This was the result of K. s new knowledge from Titorelli. The concept is that
there was no way of truly escaping the pursuits of the court. Even though the court had not told K.

In The Trial, judges choose to select people to be guilty of a crime that they may or may not have
committed. This does not serve a practical purpose because citizens of the state are harassed and even
killed for doing nothing that is against the law. The judges in The Trial also chose to kill Josef K. after
he was accused and went through a lot of trouble trying to prove his innocence. This is another
demonstration of the court playing their game with K. These immoral decisions made by the judges
are demonstrations of the fact that they control all of the power in that society, and the system has
been corrupted by the leaders of the court who play games with defendants. In A Jury of Her Peers the
women decide to withhold evidence from the men, who want to prove Mrs. Wright guilty, in an
attempt to protect Mrs. Wright. This may not be evident upon first reading because the women do not
actually say that the evidence they found are true pieces of evidence. For example, Mrs. Peters says it
s a good thing the men couldn t hear us! Getting all stirred up over a little thing like a dead canary
(Glaspell 103) and Mrs. Hale, after pulling out a sewing job that could be used as evidence, said, Just

women knew that they had found incriminating evidence, but they were not going to share this with
the men because they

The Great Gatsby By Nick Carraway
The Carraways are something of a clan and we have a tradition that we re descended from the Duke of
Baccleuch, but the actual founder of my line was my grandfather s brother who came here in fifty one,
sent a substitute to the Civil War and started the wholesale hardware business that my father carries on
today. (Pg.7) Nick Carraway narrates the whole story in The Great Gatsby, and here he makes a
connection to The American Dream using his own family. In this quote the reader can see that his
family is indeed wealthy, but often connect their wealth to some far off nobleman that may or may not
have existed. Nick straightens this out by stating that the wealth is actually from his grandfather s
brother and his business, something that is continued by his own father and generates wealth through
years of hard work. This is a good example of The American Dream , but there are many other
examples of this dream throughout the story, and each has it s own meaning to the respective
character. Gatsby has his own dream of achieving Daisy s love, Daisy loves money and the attention
that comes along with it, and George Wilson dreamed of having a normal family with his wife Myrtle.
All three dreams vary because of who they belong to, but tangle together and cause problems
throughout the plot of The Great Gatsby. Even though Gatsby s dream caused numerous conflicts and
ended up with his murder, it was still what can be considered both good and bad. Jay Gatsby was born

Should the Internet Replace the Book As the Chief Tool of...
At present, the Internet and other technology are well developed and keep improving. People use those
new tools to do everything, and try hard to make human life easier and more perfect. From business to
finances; industry to entertainment; services to education, the use of the Internet has increased and
become more mainstream. Some people believe that the Internet and other electronic technology can
replace all kind of jobs that humans do, including teaching students with screens and keyboards
instead of books. They emphasize that the Internet can help people interact to each other beyond the
barrier of distance, so books are somehow not necessary in human lives. However, in my opinion, this
idea cannot be more ridiculous. Books are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
. . . all it needs is light, a human eye, and a human mind (2008, ¶ 2). On the other hand, generally
speaking, the publishing process for the book is more stringent and credible than online resources. As
people realize the fact that the Internet is so open and free that everyone can write anything on the
web, a great amount of misleading information have been circulated for perusal around the network. It
is a great challenge to distinguish which of them is true or credible; however, information from books
is basically, generally believable. One of the reasons for this is that people can easily find out who the
author and publisher are of a book. In contrast, an article from a web page may have trouble to prove
its credibility. In short, the Internet cannot always provide valuable message and information that
respects to intellectual property rights. Therefore, people should keep using book as the chief tool of
learning. Another important reason why the Internet and other technology should not replace the book
is that the use of the Internet and other technology may be a travers of developing social skills. It has
been confirmed by sociologists and anthropologists that the face to face communication between
people is too important to be ignored in the society. To be honest, it is

Compare And Contrast Shakespeare Sonnet 130
Sonnet 18 and Sonnet 130, were some of William Shakespeare s most famous sonnets that he ever
wrote. Both sonnets are very similar with the theme of love and beauty; however they contrast each
other in their purpose, style, and whom William Shakespeare is writing the sonnet to. The sonnets are
both written in two different styles of writing. Sonnet 18 was written in a more traditional format,
which paints the woman in a divine spotlight. Sonnet 130 however contrasts Sonnet 18 by instead of
describing their subject as being beautiful they rather describing them as with imperfections and how
they love that subject. Shakespeare uses a complimentary tone when he wrote Sonnet 18 and uses a
more ironic and satirical tone in his Sonnet 130. With the help of a complex metaphor, the tone he
uses in each sonnet, and imagery, Shakespeare gives two very different takes on love and beauty. ...

My Field Placement Will Be At Child Protective Services Essay
Introduction
My field placement will be at Child protective services in El Paso TX. The department of child
Protective Services withholds a wide range of services and responsibilities that include, investigating
reports of abuse and neglect of children, provide services to children and families in their homes,
providing services to help youth in foster care successfully transition to adulthood and helping
children find adoption. There are many subdivisions within the department itself which offers different
amenities during an open case with CPS, although these services solely justify the department, there is
a unit known as Family Based Services or also FBSS which focuses on resources that will strengthen
the family s privation in order to ensure child safety and wellbeing. The Department predominantly
benefits from task groups rather than treatment groups, because the department is on deadlines with
each individual case, a treatment group would not benefit for the departments ultimate value which is

emotional distress on the children as well as the family. Every year in the United States, more than one

The facility is collaborating closely with the patient?s optometrists who serve as the primary care
doctors. If a surgery is necessitated, the doctor of optometry (OD) will then direct the patients to the
expertise of the eye surgeons of PCLI to address specialized treatments. In Spokane alone, they have
built a strong network of about 150 family optometrists. For a period of time, PCLI has managed their
operations with eleven satellite clinics, seven surgeons, several surgical assistants, patient counselors
and a resident physician at every clinic (Swayne, et al., 2013). However, due to continued growth in
the industry with significant market potential, stiffer competition is slowly escalating. In fact, intense
rivalry from other laser eye surgery centers in Canada as well as other larger laser eye care centers in
the nation who are charging less for Lasik eye surgery are becoming a huge challenge for PCLI. The
facility is very much aware that there is an enormous possibility that they will lose a huge number of
patients to the aforementioned competitors. With that, there is an intense pressure to reduce overhead
costs to survive in a competitive landscape. It is imperative for the facility to reevaluate its market
efforts and its services operations process and focus on new management strategy, capacity utilization,
cost control and marketing

The Murder Of Mankind By Isaac Rosenberg
The Murder of Mankind War Critic Udari Munasinghe unlocks the ideology of War. Two armies that
fight each other is like one large army that commits suicide Patriotism towards one s home is the lie
that resulted in the murder of over 17 million soldiers during World War one. The Great War was said
to be the the war to end all wars but instead lead to mass slaughter. Many of us still dignify the war in
glory and honour, however, in the eyes of the soldiers, war was never about glorifying, but to its
absurdity, it was about promising death to those who took the chance. Not long after World War One
started, the dark reality of war was exposed through the veracious poets who shared their experiences
and revealed the insanity and futility of war. Isaac Rosenberg was a recognised poet who revealed the
hidden truth; he was a soldier who joined war in 1960, however, unlike others, he came from a Jewish,
working class background which differed him from other well known First World War poets. The
perception of life and death, in which time is juxtaposed with setting, is reflected in Isaac Rosenberg s
unrhymed free verse poem, Break of Day in the Trenches . Through this anti war poem, his inhuman
experiences in the battlefields are brought to the present. Set in the trenches of a battlefield, Rosenberg
uses cohesive and emotive language to capture the bemusement of an infantryman and the
confrontation of horror and suffering that arose

Catilina Island Trip
Today was the last day of my field trip to Catilina island. I was going kayaking that day. I was on a
rocky beach. I could here the waves crushing agisnt the rocks as we where getting ready to go out to
sea on the kayaks. The sea breeze stung my face when I looked into it. We had to put on water shoes
to keep our feet from getting cuts on the rocks. The shoes did not do a very good job of keeping our
feet from hurting, altho they did stop us from getting cuts. The hardest part was getting the kayaks to
the shore. They were about 48 to 58 feet from the shore. It was hard because we could not drag the
kayaks to the shore. After we got the kayaks to shore we sat in our kayaks ready to go out to sea. This
felt surprising to me as it was a new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We went quite fast compared to the other kids there, in my opion I think we went the fastest. When we
where out at sea Dan held his paddle up that meant to go to him while holding on to eachoters kaicks
once we got to him. At least ten times we yelled ICEBURG. This meant to look out we will run into
you. My throat got sore from yelling iceburg so many times. I fanily realized that I was wet because
the ore brought up water onto the kayak. People were also throwing seaweed at us. The seaweed that
was not from there felt like an unsticky spiderweb but more durable. The seaweed that was from the
island was a teardrop shape with a vertical oval alomost at the bottom. It felt better than the other
seaweed and also a little bit like wet rubber. In my opion I thought it felt good. When I saw the seals
and the sea otters I was squealing with excitement even though I ve seen them before in the zoo. The
baby ones where the cutest as they were laying on the rock. We passed by them altho the current was
there so we had to fight it a little bit so we would not hit the rocks. When we where heading back we
stopped about a little less than halfway to the shore from where we where

War Between Countries And The Time Frame Of The Vast...
I would like to know more in depth what happened during major wars in the past hundred years as
well as the weapons that changed war since then. History throughout time has been in great interest to
me because it is fun to learn about why certain events happened in time and the impact that resulted.
The topic war, in particular, is the most fascinating thing that occurs throughout history to me because
of the fact that it has been used as a way to dispute conflicts between countries and the time frame of
the vast advancements that have been made in weaponry in the past one hundred years. I feel I have
accumulated basic knowledge about war throughout my high school years by taking world and U.S
history courses. These courses were the easiest for me to learn because I was real intrigued to know
why something happened which led for another event to happen. To begin my search process, I
thought of material I already knew for my subject. Then after coming to a conclusions on material I
felt like learning more about, I began reading material off ordinary websites on my laptop.
Discovering that some websites were useless led me to rethink my choices. While reconsidering what
to do, I simply went to the C.O.S academic data base and clicked on the links SIRS Issue Researcher
and Global Issues in Context . These are the primary tools I used for most of my research. At first it
was difficult due to some of the articles not containing the information I needed and were just boring.

Analysis Of Joy Castro s On Becoming Educated
In Hungry and On Becoming Educated by Joy Castro as well as Our Secret by Susan Griffin, personal
and political history work in similar ways to uncover the magnitude of similarities everyone contains.
Castro uses her personal stories to emphasize societal norms, in relation to feminism, and how they
affect and have affected learning similarly in history and modern times. Griffin takes on a similar task,
but she relates her childhood interactions with family to those affected by the Holocaust, particularly
Heinrich Himmler. Both writers identify sections in which they utilize elements of autobiography to
connect individual life to the larger cultural and political implications by placing similar stories in
order and broadening their choice of words and phrases. Castro and Griffin portray exactly how
similar actions and occurrences can be due to the way society influences people and their ignorance,
deception, and hidden intentions. Ignorance is not bliss when it comes to the modern world, but
history still affects the way people think today due to the close minded nature of uninformed citizens.
In Castro s On Becoming Educated, she accepts the fact that ignorance is overwhelmingly prevalent in
today s society; however, she works to fill the academy s blind spots (Castro 270) by pushing others to
recognize all sides of an argument and be curious about historical events and changes that affect them.
Throughout her many journeys with literature courses, Castro found the choice of books to be rather
narrow minded. In retrospect, she [realizes] that these small incidents were negotiations of power
(Castro 268), and conserving socially accepted positions on issue was more important to certain
professors than challenging those beliefs. Historically, the process of shying away from debating and
acknowledging other s opinions has always been a norm. Castro acknowledges this connection
between present day life and the past by broadening her perspective through words and generally
referring to the what has already occurred in history. Overtime and with teaching experience, Castro
has learned not to back down (Castro 269) when presented with opposing opinions. In regards to
welcoming students with different

Derivative Financial Instruments Employed For Risk Management
Derivative Financial Instruments Employed for Risk Management
Credit Risk
Derivatives may be traded either via an exchange (exchange traded) or alternatively, privately
negotiated contracts, which are generally alluded to as Over The Counter (OTC) derivatives.
Exchange traded and OTC cleared derivative contracts have downgraded Macquarie s credit risk as
their counterparty is a clearing house, accountable for the handling of risk management for their
members to guarantee that the clearing house has sufficient resources to carry out its upcoming
obligations. Members are instructed to produce initial margins in agreement with the exchange rules in
the form of cash or securities, and further present daily variation margins in cash to cover adjustments
in values of the market. Macquarie has exchange traded derivatives with positive replacement values
as at 31 March 2016 of $1,794 million, whereas as at 31 March 2016 of $4,641 million.
For OTC derivative contracts, Macquarie commonly has master netting agreements (usually ISDA
Master Agreements) with specific counterparties to handle and control the credit risk associated. The
credit risk connected with positive replacement value contracts is condensed by master netting
arrangements that in an occurrence of default necessitates that balances with a certain counterparty
covered by the agreement (for example derivatives and cash margins) to be discontinued and settled
on a net basis. Macquarie frequently executes a Credit

  • 14. Compare And Contrast Alka-Seltzer With Hydrochloric Acid The purpose of this experiment was to mix Alka Seltzer with Hydrochloric acid in order to analyze Sodium Bicarbonate as an active ingredient in the Alka Seltzer. The mixture will contain hydrochloric acid to only see the composition of Sodium Bicarbonate in the tablet once it reacts. The amount that reacted allowed us to determine how much of it is present in the tablet. The amount of sodium bicarbonate will be measure by using the ideal gas law PV=nRT. The experiment will be conducted in the lab, therefore we are going to use room temperature which ranges from 15 to 26 degrees celsius. At room temperature pressure ranges from 12.8 to 25.0 millimeters mercury according to its corresponding room temperature. In the ideal gas equation R is 0.08206latm/mol k which is a constant. Once we have those values we can calculates the number of moles that reacted in the mixture by solving for the missing value. With the number of moles we are able to find the mass in grams which is what will potentially tell us the composition of Sodium Bicarbonate in a tablet of Alka Seltzer. Results: There were three different runs in order to have comparable data and to increase the validity of the experiment. The first run gave 39% of Sodium Bicarbonate. The second run gave 34% of Sodium Bicarbonate while the third one gave 39%, which is the same as the first run. The average percentage was 37% which is much lower than the manufacturer s percentage of 59%. The percent error came out to be 37%. Discussion: The manufacturer results shows that Alka Seltzer has 1.9 grams per tablet. In the experiment the results are too small compared to the number that is given by the label. In the first run only .0588 grams reacted to the acid. That suggest that the tablet only contains 0.588 grams of sodium bicarbonate which is very different from the manufacturers. The second run gave an even smaller number of gram. In terms of moles only .0007 reacted in the first and third run and only .0006 in the second run. There are many factor that could had alter the amount of moles that reacted to the acid which affected the result in showing that there is a smaller composition of sodium bicarbonate in the tablet than that of the manufacturer s. They seemed to believe that the longer the prayer, the more spiritual and pleasing to God. But God isn t interested in eloquence. Not at all. Prayer should come from the heart. He isn t interested in how perfectly our prayers sound, or whether they rhyme, or whether we throw in any King James English, or how long they are. He is concerned with how genuine they are. One of the most eloquent prayers in Scripture comes from a man who said, God, be merciful to me a sinner! (Luke 18:13). Now that is an effective prayer. That is a man who was honest with God. He said what he was thinking and simply laid it out before the Lord. And guess what? Jesus Himself said that man s prayer was heard. It is these different motivations that sharpen the image for who has good and bad intentions, allowing differing consequences to occur. As a result of lying, this leads to conflicting morals and inevitable consequences that have an impact on everyone else. In the novel Huck Finn Mark Twain argues that lying is wrong and is a source of power that certain characters use to either help others or themselves; however, the consequences are different due to these different motivations with characters such as the King, Duke and Huck who end up having a greater impact on the rest of the community. In this society, there is no chance of being acquitted. There are other options, but K. says, Both methods have this in common: they prevent the accused from being convicted. The Great Gatsby By Nick Carraway The Carraways are something of a clan and we have a tradition that we re descended from the Duke of Baccleuch, but the actual founder of my line was my grandfather s brother who came here in fifty one, sent a substitute to the Civil War and started the wholesale hardware business that my father carries on today. (Pg.7) Nick Carraway narrates the whole story in The Great Gatsby, and here he makes a connection to The American Dream using his own family. In this quote the reader can see that his family is indeed wealthy, but often connect their wealth to some far off nobleman that may or may not have existed. Nick straightens this out by stating that the wealth is actually from his grandfather s brother and his business, something that is continued by his own father and generates wealth through years of hard work. This is a good example of The American Dream , but there are many other examples of this dream throughout the story, and each has it s own meaning to the respective character. Gatsby has his own dream of achieving Daisy s love, Daisy loves money and the attention that comes along with it, and George Wilson dreamed of having a normal family with his wife Myrtle. All three dreams vary because of who they belong to, but tangle together and cause problems throughout the plot of The Great Gatsby. If a surgery is necessitated, the doctor of optometry (OD) will then direct the patients to the expertise of the eye surgeons of PCLI to address specialized treatments. In Spokane alone, they have built a strong network of about 150 family optometrists. For a period of time, PCLI has managed their operations with eleven satellite clinics, seven surgeons, several surgical assistants, patient counselors and a resident physician at every clinic (Swayne, et al., 2013). However, due to continued growth in the industry with significant market potential, stiffer competition is slowly escalating. In fact, intense rivalry from other laser eye surgery centers in Canada as well as other larger laser eye care centers in the nation who are charging less for Lasik eye surgery are becoming a huge challenge for PCLI. The facility is very much aware that there is an enormous possibility that they will lose a huge number of patients to the aforementioned competitors. With that, there is an intense pressure to reduce overhead costs to survive in a competitive landscape. It is imperative for the facility to reevaluate its market efforts and its services operations process and focus on new management strategy, capacity utilization, cost control and marketing ... • 43. The Murder Of Mankind By Isaac Rosenberg The Murder of Mankind War Critic Udari Munasinghe unlocks the ideology of War. Two armies that fight each other is like one large army that commits suicide Patriotism towards one s home is the lie that resulted in the murder of over 17 million soldiers during World War one. The Great War was said to be the the war to end all wars but instead lead to mass slaughter. Many of us still dignify the war in glory and honour, however, in the eyes of the soldiers, war was never about glorifying, but to its absurdity, it was about promising death to those who took the chance. Not long after World War One started, the dark reality of war was exposed through the veracious poets who shared their experiences and revealed the insanity and futility of war. Isaac Rosenberg was a recognised poet who revealed the hidden truth; he was a soldier who joined war in 1960, however, unlike others, he came from a Jewish, working class background which differed him from other well known First World War poets. The perception of life and death, in which time is juxtaposed with setting, is reflected in Isaac Rosenberg s unrhymed free verse poem, Break of Day in the Trenches . Through this anti war poem, his inhuman experiences in the battlefields are brought to the present. Set in the trenches of a battlefield, Rosenberg uses cohesive and emotive language to capture the bemusement of an infantryman and the confrontation of horror and suffering that arose ... • 44. Catilina Island Trip Today was the last day of my field trip to Catilina island. I was going kayaking that day. I was on a rocky beach. I could here the waves crushing agisnt the rocks as we where getting ready to go out to sea on the kayaks. The sea breeze stung my face when I looked into it. We had to put on water shoes to keep our feet from getting cuts on the rocks. The shoes did not do a very good job of keeping our feet from hurting, altho they did stop us from getting cuts. The hardest part was getting the kayaks to the shore. They were about 48 to 58 feet from the shore. It was hard because we could not drag the kayaks to the shore. After we got the kayaks to shore we sat in our kayaks ready to go out to sea. This felt surprising to me as it was a new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We went quite fast compared to the other kids there, in my opion I think we went the fastest. When we where out at sea Dan held his paddle up that meant to go to him while holding on to eachoters kaicks once we got to him. At least ten times we yelled ICEBURG. This meant to look out we will run into you. My throat got sore from yelling iceburg so many times. I fanily realized that I was wet because the ore brought up water onto the kayak. People were also throwing seaweed at us. The seaweed that was not from there felt like an unsticky spiderweb but more durable. The seaweed that was from the island was a teardrop shape with a vertical oval alomost at the bottom. It felt better than the other seaweed and also a little bit like wet rubber. In my opion I thought it felt good. When I saw the seals and the sea otters I was squealing with excitement even though I ve seen them before in the zoo. The baby ones where the cutest as they were laying on the rock. We passed by them altho the current was there so we had to fight it a little bit so we would not hit the rocks. When we where heading back we stopped about a little less than halfway to the shore from where we where ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. War Between Countries And The Time Frame Of The Vast... I would like to know more in depth what happened during major wars in the past hundred years as well as the weapons that changed war since then. History throughout time has been in great interest to me because it is fun to learn about why certain events happened in time and the impact that resulted. The topic war, in particular, is the most fascinating thing that occurs throughout history to me because of the fact that it has been used as a way to dispute conflicts between countries and the time frame of the vast advancements that have been made in weaponry in the past one hundred years. I feel I have accumulated basic knowledge about war throughout my high school years by taking world and U.S history courses. These courses were the easiest for me to learn because I was real intrigued to know why something happened which led for another event to happen. To begin my search process, I thought of material I already knew for my subject. Then after coming to a conclusions on material I felt like learning more about, I began reading material off ordinary websites on my laptop. Discovering that some websites were useless led me to rethink my choices. While reconsidering what to do, I simply went to the C.O.S academic data base and clicked on the links SIRS Issue Researcher and Global Issues in Context . These are the primary tools I used for most of my research. At first it was difficult due to some of the articles not containing the information I needed and were just boring. ... • 46. Analysis Of Joy Castro s On Becoming Educated In Hungry and On Becoming Educated by Joy Castro as well as Our Secret by Susan Griffin, personal and political history work in similar ways to uncover the magnitude of similarities everyone contains. Castro uses her personal stories to emphasize societal norms, in relation to feminism, and how they affect and have affected learning similarly in history and modern times. Griffin takes on a similar task, but she relates her childhood interactions with family to those affected by the Holocaust, particularly Heinrich Himmler. Both writers identify sections in which they utilize elements of autobiography to connect individual life to the larger cultural and political implications by placing similar stories in order and broadening their choice of words and phrases. Castro and Griffin portray exactly how similar actions and occurrences can be due to the way society influences people and their ignorance, deception, and hidden intentions. Ignorance is not bliss when it comes to the modern world, but history still affects the way people think today due to the close minded nature of uninformed citizens. In Castro s On Becoming Educated, she accepts the fact that ignorance is overwhelmingly prevalent in today s society; however, she works to fill the academy s blind spots (Castro 270) by pushing others to recognize all sides of an argument and be curious about historical events and changes that affect them. Throughout her many journeys with literature courses, Castro found the choice of books to be rather narrow minded. In retrospect, she [realizes] that these small incidents were negotiations of power (Castro 268), and conserving socially accepted positions on issue was more important to certain professors than challenging those beliefs. Historically, the process of shying away from debating and acknowledging other s opinions has always been a norm. Castro acknowledges this connection between present day life and the past by broadening her perspective through words and generally referring to the what has already occurred in history. Overtime and with teaching experience, Castro has learned not to back down (Castro 269) when presented with opposing opinions. In regards to welcoming students with different ... Derivative Financial Instruments Employed For Risk Management Derivative Financial Instruments Employed for Risk Management Credit Risk Derivatives may be traded either via an exchange (exchange traded) or alternatively, privately negotiated contracts, which are generally alluded to as Over The Counter (OTC) derivatives. Exchange traded and OTC cleared derivative contracts have downgraded Macquarie s credit risk as their counterparty is a clearing house, accountable for the handling of risk management for their members to guarantee that the clearing house has sufficient resources to carry out its upcoming obligations. Members are instructed to produce initial margins in agreement with the exchange rules in the form of cash or securities, and further present daily variation margins in cash to cover adjustments in values of the market. Macquarie has exchange traded derivatives with positive replacement values as at 31 March 2016 of $1,794 million, whereas as at 31 March 2016 of $4,641 million. For OTC derivative contracts, Macquarie commonly has master netting agreements (usually ISDA Master Agreements) with specific counterparties to handle and control the credit risk associated. The credit risk connected with positive replacement value contracts is condensed by master netting arrangements that in an occurrence of default necessitates that balances with a certain counterparty covered by the agreement (for example derivatives and cash margins) to be discontinued and settled on a net basis.
