Similarities Between The Coach And Drunken Men
The coach is rocking like a drunken man as it is out of control due to extreme wind. The writers
use of a simile here suggests that the coach is not in a good condition since it is compared to a
drunken man. Drunken men tend to be out of control and sloppy and this gives us the
impression that the wind is making the coach have similar actions to those of a drunken man.
The coach is still being pulled by the horses who are too broken by the wind and the rain to feel
the whip that now and again cracked over their heads . The writer uses personification to tell us
that the horses cannot feel the whip due to the weather, this creates a more vivid image in the
reader s mind as they are given more details such as the whip cracked . In addition,

Currently, there are two major of database management systems which are used to deal with data,
the first one called Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) which is the traditional
relational databases, it deals with structured data and have been popular since decades from
1970, while the second one called Not only Structure Query Language databases (NoSQL), they
have been dealing with semi structured and unstructured data; the NoSQL term was introduced
for the first time in 1998 by Carlo Strozzi and Eric Evans reintroduced the term NoSQL in early
2009, and now the NoSQL types are gaining their popularity with the development of the internet
and the social media. NoSQL are intending to override the cons of RDBMS, such as fixed
schemas, JOIN operations and handling the scalability problems. With the appearance of Big Data,

Conformity Is The Most Popular Form Of Conformity
As Dr. Seuss once said, Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don t matter
and those who matter don t mind. Through this quote, the foundation of conformity is uprooted
from its murky hovel and is disputed with. Despite, though, how many people preach these words,
they still succumb to the mind numbing effects without even realizing it, because they are not fully
aware of the causes of this topic. That is why one needs to understand the causes of conformity
before preventing the effects. The three causes of conformity include: changing how one acts to
avoid the rejection of their peers, depending on other people s opinions because they are oblivious
to a certain topic, and conforming to something based on social characteristics. Changing how one
acts to fit in better with a group, or normative conformity, is the most popular form of conformity
in the world today. According to Philip G. Zimbardo, a Professor of Psychologyat Stanford
University: Normative Conformity, is when we are concerned about making a good impression
in front of a group. Though we may disagree secretly with the group opinion, we may verbally
adopt the group stance so that we seem like a team player rather than a deviant. When a child
(for this purpose he or she will be called the green child ) is excluded from the play two other
children, the green child blames his/ her exclusion based on something they did or who they are as
a person. The green child is then tempted to

Analysis Of The Hero s Journey
Small or big, everything we do in life is part of our journey. Reg Harris The Hero s Journey
describes the voyage one takes throughout life to grow and change as a person. He breaks the
journey down into eight steps leading to the return. It starts out as a goal that isn t always easy
to reach, one goes through hardship and personal doubts only to succeed and become a better
person. An example of this journey can be found in the movie, Troy through the character
Achilles. Achilles is a strong fearless warrior in the movie, Troy who goes through The Hero s
Journey and ends up with a change of heart. As the movie begins we are introduced to Achilles
as a fierce and strong warrior, fearing no one. He begins the first step of Harris journey, also
known as the call, when Odysseus goes to talk to him. Odysseus visits Achilles to ask him to
fight in the war in Troy. He describes the war as great and in need of their best warrior, the
perfect invitation into his journey. The second step in Harris journey is the threshold, where we
encounter obstacles and doubts. One of the main examples of threshold in Achilles life would be
his mother. When Achilles brings up that he has been invited to war his mother gives him two
options. Those options are to stay where he is a live a normal long life with a wife children and
happiness where not many would remember his legacy, or to go to war and possibly die fighting
but be remembered for years to come. At that point Achilles started

Camera Angles In The Blind Side
The Blind Side is a movie about a young black boy named Michael who grew up in a rough area
with not much to look forward to. He always had to worry about being in danger, his family
doing drugs, and even being homeless, until one day he was at a high school volleyball game
picking up left over snacks from the bleachers when an upper class white family noticed him.
After the game, they saw him walking on the sidewalk along the road outside the school and
asked him where he was staying. He was planning on going to the gym where it was warm so
they offered to take him home for a warm and dry place to sleep. He took the offer and slept on the
couch, the family ended up getting him through high school and officially adopted him. He had big
offers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No matter the condition around Michael he always seemed to overcome it. This theme is very
useful, not only in the movie but can be taken from the movie and could be used in others lives.
The movie all came together in the use of camera angles/shots, color, lighting, sounds/music,
and narration. Without any of these devises the movie wouldn t give off an emotional message
or the same message. Camera angles and shots were used throughout the movie to show emotion
because the movie is based on a true story. During the movie, they show flashbacks of cop cars
and Michael being taken away when he was just a young child because of the terrible things
going on around him, they showed these clips so that the audience would understand the
situation that Michael was in. The film maker also decided to put camera shots of the original
family so that the audience would feel more attached. Color was used throughout the film a lot
to show positive, and gloomy places. When Michael went back to the condo where his
biological mom lived, and where all the terrible things happened, there was a lot of blacks, greys,
and browns. When Michael was back at his adoptive family s house there was a lot of bright
colors used throughout the house making the house seem like a positive place. Another place that
was very positive was on the football field which was very bright and

Gothic Literature- the Black Cat by Edgar Allen Poe and...
Dracula by Bram Stoker and The Black Cat by Edgar Allen Poe
Any text that is composed is written to fit into the society that it is written for. A genre must evolve
and modernise itself to remain relevant and interesting to the target audience. In The Black Cat by
Edgar Allen Poe and Dracula by Bram Stoker, the composers have both adapted their stories to
appeal the people of their time.
Dracula by Bram Stoker used many of the conventions of the gothic genre to appeal to the
Victorian Society. Stoker used the style of the novel, his characters and the tone to create an
enticing text based on the beliefs of the novel s era.
The tone of the novel Dracula seemed to be fear. Fear is a very common theme in many gothic
texts. A few... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nails were long and fine, and cut to a sharp point. Upon Jonathon staring out the window, he
inadvertently happens to spy Count Dracula slowly emerge from the window and begin to
crawl down the castle wall over the dreadful abyss, face down with his cloak spreading out
around him like great wings....move downwards with considerable speed just as a lizard moves
along a wall. Just after this Count Dracula brings back a small child to feed to the female
vampires, which is the most barbaric deed that any character could do in a gothic novel. To lose a
child was the greatest fear of many Victorian women, making this crime a truly abominable one.
The many gothic conventions in Dracula played to the morals of the Victorian era to make it both
controversial and acceptable, giving the novel the success it deserved. In comparison, the story
The Black Cat by Edgar Allen Poe modernized the gothic genre even further to adapt it to the
audience of the early 19th century. The composer used the questionable sanity of his character and
the overtly violent acts committed by this character, to create an evil that was not embodied as a
supernatural creature, but as a man. He created an idea of the perverse nature of humans to create
an evil that was truly terrifying.
In The Black Cat by Edgar Allen Poe, the narrator of the story starts to question his own sanity,
though instead of taking responsibility for his own actions he shifted the blame onto the

X Rays History
X rays Science Assessment 9B
History
X rays are used for medical purposes. They are a form of radiation named electromagnetic waves
(EM Radiation). They are used to take pictures of the insides of the human body which come out
in black and white. The X ray was first developed in 1895 by a man named Wilhelm Conrad
Roentgen. While He was working with a cathode ray tube in his laboratory, Roentgen observed a
fluorescent glow of crystals on a nearby table close to his tubes. The tube that he was working
with consisted of a bulb with positive and negative electrodes enclosed within it, when the air
inside of the tube left and when a high voltage was applied to it , the tube produced a fluorescent

Robobee Research Paper
Artificial pollination of crops could be the alternative solution to the dwindling populations of
pollinator insects.
Over the years, the population of butterflies, bees, and other crop pollinators has been on a rapid
decline, risking the production of global food supplies. There are now lesser insects compared to
several years ago, mainly due to climate change, human activity and other practices that destroy the
insect s environment.
Farmers are using a few artificial pollination methods in controlled areas such as the greenhouses.
These include mechanically shaking the plants, hand pollination, or other non convention crop
pollination methods instead of relying on the traditionally known natural bees. Some of these

The miniature flying robot has the ability to lift off, hover and perch. In addition, the artificial
insects can swim in water, as well as fly through dust and wind.
The artificial bees are available in different models and sizes, with the smallest bee weighing just
84mg, hence lighter than the real bee. The smallest Robobee model is capable of flapping its wings
120 times per second. The artificial insects can sense their surroundings and also communicate with
one another.
Robobee in rescue missions
The Robobee was initially designed for the artificial crop pollination; however, the bees can be
used for other applications such as search and rescue missions in areas where larger robots cannot
fit. By communicating with each other, the robobees in a swarm will relay the information through
each other back to the control without having to wait for the particular robot to get back. This
means that the information from the field reaches the control room faster compared to the time a
single robot would take to take back the information.
The robobees are still in development stages, but so far Laboratory results seem promising.
However, there are several challenges such as power and communication issues to address before
insects become commercially available. Once these and other issues are sorted out, we will soon
have the Robobees performing artificial pollination, environmental monitoring and rescue

Non-Governmental Safety Regulations
Every person on earth needs food to survive. Hence, ensuring that the food we consume is in fact
safe to eat is one of the most fundamentally important actions that an agency, governmental, or
otherwise can take. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO, 2010), the
responsibility of ensuring safe foodproducts is a shared responsibility among government and non
government agencies. When examining the role of non governmental agencies in this important
component of the food market, one might consider their position both in terms of governmental
regulations and independent of these. The role of governments, for example, is to establish
policies for food safety by means of a system of controls to ensure that these are met. The
government, however, is not solely responsible to ensure that these safety standards are met.
Indeed, an even more direct responsibly for ensuring food safety and acceptable standards lie with
non governmental entities, including all the operators within the food chain. Even consumers play
a role in ensuring food safety standards by means of expressing concerns or requirements for the
safety of the products that they consume. In international trade, government and non government
agencies also collaborate to ensure acceptable food safety standards. The rules are imposed within
the SPS and TBT Agreements of the WTO. This means that a uniform food safety standard is
provided to ensure the safety of products for all consumers worldwide,

According to Bowlby attachment theory is a way of conceptualising the propensity of human
beings to make strong affectional bonds to particular others and of explaining the many forms of
emotional distress and personality disturbance, including anxiety, depression, and emotional
detachment, to which unwilling separation and loss give rise (Bowlby, 1984 p.27). Bowlby states
that affectionate bonding between caregivers and infants is crucial for a health development

children develop internal working models about self and about others. These internal working

Correlation Between Domestic Violence, Rape, And Assault
Law Enforcement
The negative portrayals and stigmas attached to BDSM has made it difficult for the community to
be understood by society. This is especially the case with the justice system. There has been an
association created between domestic violence, rape, and assault with BDSM acts. There is no
denying that domestic violence, rape, and assault occur in BDSM, but one should not generalize an
entire community based on the acts of a few individuals. This stigma attached to BDSM does
create issues for the community; especially when the justice system becomes involved. For
example, for several individuals calling the police after engaging in a BDSM activity may be

For instance, many dominatrices are being portrayed as prostitutes in society because of how
commercialized it has become. The act of being a dominatrix has been shifting into a spectrum of
making a decent amount of money in a short time frame, in which the authenticity of being a
dominatrix has lost its identity because more women are making it into a profession instead of
viewing it as a lifestyle (Lindemann, 2010). Even though authentic dominatrices do not participate
in penetrative sex, more individuals are treating BDSM play as a form of prostitution because
there has been a change of symbolic meaning concerning BDSM sex as a lifestyle to prostitution.
This then creates an even more fragmented view of what a dominatrix lifestyle involves, in which
further stigma will be associated with BDSM. A consequence of the fragmented construction of
BDSM sex, especially as a dominatrix, is when the submissive begins to take control when paying
for certain sexual acts like one would pay a prostitute, in which the dominating role is taken away
from the dominatrix (Lindemann,

Essay Sexual Content in the Bluest Eye
The novel The Bluest Eye written by Toni Morrison is subjected on a young girl, Pecola
Breedlove and her experiences growing up in a poor black family. The life depicted is one of
poverty, ridicule, and dissatisfaction of self. Pecola feels ugly because of her social status as a
poor young black girl and longs to have blue eyes, the pinnacle of beauty and worth. Throughout
the book, Morrison touches on controversial subjects, such as the depicting of Pecola s father
raping her, Mrs. Breedlove s sexual feelings toward her husband, and Pecola s menstruation. The

Avocado Research Paper
After you have enjoyed the delicious taste of an avocado, do not throw out the seed! You can grow
a beautiful houseplant or even your own tree by following these simple steps. First, wash the seed.
Second, dry it. Third, insert three toothpicks into its thickest part. Then fill a glass or empty jar with
water. After that, suspend the seedin the water with the pointed end up and the broad end down.
The water should cover about an inch of the seed. Next, put the glass in a warm place, but not in
direct sunlight. Add water when necessary to keep the bottom of the seed under water at all times.
In two to six weeks, you should see roots begin to grow. Furthermore, the seed will crack open, and
then a stem will emerge from the top. However, wait

justification of knowledge. It is an examination of how we make knowledge (Dillon Wals, 2006).
Knowledge, according to constructivism, does not therefore exist in a state awaiting discovery

Methodology is the strategy or plan of action which lies behind the choice and use of particular

Maglev Train Essay
Maglev train states the train is lifted above its tracts by electromagnetic force when operating.
According to the study of Liu, Long and Li(2015), the general advantages of this brand new
technology over the conventional one, namely, the wheeled train, can be concluded into the
following three items. First, due to the absence of the friction, it can run more smoothly and
quietly. Secondly, there are less wear and tear happening during the operation, hence less
maintenance and on going cost is needed. Lastly, it can attain a rather high speed. This essay will
examine the key technologies of the maglev train from both the dominanted systems and the main

electricity magnetism. However, the limitations of this system can be apparently found. The
intensity of the magnetic field is uneven, which is shown by the weakened near the entry end
sector and the intensified near the exit end sector (Guo, Zhou and Lian, 2012). This is known as
the end effect . Lee, Kim and Lee (2006) points out that its efficiency is relatively low due to the
end effect. This is further demonstrated by Guo, Zhou and Lian (2012), who claim that end effect
will produce a downwards pressure on the thrust force, which decreases the power efficiency and
affects the motor performance. Additionally, it tends to be evident that normal force can exert a
negative impact on the levitation system due to end

Poetry And Literary Analysis Of Birches By Robert Frost
Birches , written by Robert Frost in 1913 and published as part of his Mountain Interval
collection, is a poem of childhood naivety. The euphonic piece explores the use of abundant
writing techniques, all of which contribute to its layers of complexity. The speaker of this poem
is focused on birch trees, hoping that they have been bent by a young boy swinging them;
however, the speaker is fully aware of the Truth , knowing that they have indeed been bent down
by an ice storm. Wishing to go back in time to the days in which he himself would swing birchtrees,
the speaker contemplates more profound meanings of this swinging. A tendency found in Frost s
writing is an implementation of nature, often utilized as either the focus of the work or just an
auxiliary motif, resulting in quasi transcendental themes. Being one of his most beloved works,
Robert Frost s Birches is a poem which, upon analysis of its complex use of poetic and literary
devices, reveals a culmination of distinct themes. Birches is a poem open to many themes and
interpretations, some of which only require the poem s most direct, nominal meaning. Others
interpretations require a more in depth, holistic approach, analyzing its structure and devices.
Neither of these approaches are more correct than the other. A holistic interpretation of this work
instills the motif of balance, putting forth the idea that life is a constant pursuit to achieve balance
between equal, yet opposite concepts. Another

Most Important Commandments In America
There are many commandments in America. Most of them are very important and should be
followed. There is many more that should be added . The commandments can prevent a lot of
things. They can also earn you some respect . I think more should be added. One commandment
is that you should always speak when you walk into a room .It is considered rude if you walk
into a room full of people and don t speak to them . You wouldn t like it if you were sitting in a
room and somebody walked in and don t acknowledge your presence . That s why the polite thing
to do is speak. That earns you more respect from others. The second most important commandment

steal. Stealing is always wrong no matter what way you try to put it as. Stealing is not only illegal,
it s also a good way to lose trust in people. You wouldn t like it if somebody stole from you so don t
steal from them. Stealing from people loses trust and respect so you should not steal from
anybody at all. The fifth commandment is if somebody sneezes , be courteous and say bless you.
People usually sneeze and expect to be told bless you afterwards. It is polite to say bless you after
somebody sneezes. Most people feel as if you care enough to say it once you say bless you to them
. If you sneeze, you most likely would want somebody to say bless you to you. Some people don

The Potential Of Persuasion By Phaedrus And Life Of...
Bui Ngo Thanh Truc (Tessa)
The Potential of Persuasion in Phaedrus and Life of Demosthenes
Persuasion is an essential skill for rhetoricians. Since all a rhetorician needs is not the truth but his
own opinion, persuasion is necessary to address the assembly. While persuasion could be used to
lead a city to making the right decisions and gaining glory, the power of persuasion could be also
abused or used by the wrong person. Demosthenes uses his rhetorical skills to push Athens away
from its course of destruction. He also advocates for policies which are beneficial to Athens.
Demades and the other orators were supportive of Athens becoming allies which was the wrong
course of action because it led to the destruction of Athens. Someone could misuse their skill of
persuasion due to lack of knowledge and morality. Good orators can also have flaws, like
Demosthenes and his susceptibility to bribery. The negative potential can be reduced if the
rhetoricians are philosophers and knowledgeable of ethics. Socrates and Phaedrus s discussion
shows how truth is relative to whoever is most persuasive. While Plutarch does not state any
solutions to reducing negative potential in rhetorical speeches, Plato s method for giving a
persuasive speech worthy of praise is by dialectic speech. Both Plato and Plutarch acknowledge the
power of rhetoric and persuasion to affect the course of events in both a positive and negative way
and recognize the problem that comes with it.
First, persuasion

Women s Role In The Victorian Era Oppression Of Women
Victorian age female oppression is frequently blotted out from discussion. The maltreatment of
women has played a key role in society since the conception of humankind. The Victorian age,
however, is what particularly peaks my interest. The treatment of women in that era was entirely
centralized around the understanding that women were subordinate to men. With their deeply
embedded concepts of misogyny, we have thus arrived at the current roles women play in society
today. It is because of the role this era still plays in the evaluation of women, that I would choose to
teach of the Victorian Eraoppression of women during Reed s Paideia education week. The
fundamental function of a womanin the 19th century was childbirth. Believing firmly in the lifelong
energy levels a human contained, women were not allowed to focus on much except childbirth.
Reproduction was their key purpose of existing. Education was minimal, due to the fact that
learning might decrease their focus on multiplying. With only the slightest of education, these
women were trapped in a cycle of child rearing. Many women went into relationships with no
previous knowledge of sex and were then thrown into situations with predetermined spouses. The

Executive Order History
As the Founders of the United States and the Framers of the Constitution started designing the
government of the new United States, they made sure to balance the powers of the three branches
of government in order to create a fair and equal government. However, these intelligent men knew
very well that they could not actually create a perfect government, and as a result, some branches
of government possess certain powers that allow them to overpower the other branches. One of
these powers is an executive order, which the President can use in some situations. The most

restrictions of executive orders. Executive orders are orders written by the... Show more content on

The first use of an executive order came on April 22, 1793, when President George Washington
used an executive order to instruct federal officers to prosecute U.S. citizens who became
involved in the war between France and England. During the early to mid 19th century,
Presidents used executive orders; however, these executive orders were often not very
controversial. Controversy surrounding executive orders starting to sweep the nation again in
1861 when President Lincoln issued an executive order in the months preceding the Civil War.
During the early months of 1861, a Southerner named John Merryman led a group of Southern
rebels through Maryland and Virginia fighting federal troops. Eventually, when federal officials
captured John Merryman, his attorneys argued that he had a right to see a judge before
spending more time in prison. In response, President Lincoln issued an executive order
suspending habeas corpus, which is a suspect s right to see a judge after they taken to prison. In
the years following the Civil War and the early 20th century, the use of executive orders
continued to rise. Due to President Theodore Roosevelt s belief in expanding the powers of the
executive branch, he quickly became the first President to issue more than 1,000 executive orders
during his presidency. However, Franklin D. Roosevelt s support for New Deal legislation and
laws led to him issuing 3,522 executive orders during his time in office (the most of any President
of the United States). Furthermore, as history progressed, Presidents continued to utilize executive
orders. Not including President Trump s executive orders, the only executive orders to be struck
down were orders issued by President Truman and President Clinton. President Truman s executive
order allowed the national government to seize control of all steel mills in order to prevent a
worker strike.

Essay Comparing The Marriage Of Figaro And Twelfth Night
A common discussion between the sexes is the omnipotent power that men seem to hold over
women in all societies. Why do men always have the social advantage over women? Both
Shakespeare s Twelfth Night and Beaumarchais The Marriage of Figaro show that there is indeed
a social stigma placed on women where women are not allowed as much freedom to either fight
back against a suitor or choose not to accept a suitor s love and choose another. Shakespeare s
Twelfth Night focuses mainly on the negative stigmas against women, while Beaumarchais The
Marriage of Figaro places most of the blame for perpetuating the stigmas on the aristocracy,
especially the men within the aristocracy (i.e. the Count). Both texts examine the social role
women play in society, and both texts critique the societal norms that restrict women.

servant of the aristocracy and as a young woman, Suzanne is likely to fall prey to powerful men,
just because they have power over her. The Countess, too, is in a similar position, although she is of
the aristocracy. The Countess is held strictly accountable for the rumors that she was engaging in an

Count accuses the Countess of unfaithfulness and doesn t even consider that his own attempt at an

Poets Present Difficult Relationships in The Farmer’s...
Charlotte Mew explores the theme of lack of intimacy during the course of her poem, The Farmers
Bride. Various techniques are used to represent the stilted relationship the speaker and his maid
succumb to. Likewise, The Manhunt, written by Simon Armitage uses various metaphors and
semantic fields of war and anguish to illustrate the speaker s yearning to feel the hurt her partner is
experiencing and take the pain away. Although, the ambiguous ending doesn t satisfy this.
The six stanzas in The Farmer s Bride are of various lengths, with the meter per line varying. Mew
uses this as a representation of the in balance in the relationship of the farmer and his bride. During
the last stanza the farmer is presented to feel sympathetic for his bride and possibly regretful for
the animalistic manner he treated her throughout as she sleeps up in the attic there alone, poor
maid Tis but a stair betwixt us. This is structured in a stair way format, possibly implying the
farmer s now determination to work on his currently failed relationship. Relating this to the stairs
which distances them, is highlighting that they are on different levels from each other, but, despite
this he is willing to try. The two being on different levels is also reflective of their lack of intimacy
with each other, yet, the farmer longs for some other in the house than we. In comparison, Armitage
structures his poem in various stanza consisting of two lines each. This gives a sense of

For The Statement Of Purpose For Mechanical Engineering
Statement of Purpose
What is common between a simple linear actuator and a modern F 16 fighter jet? Many might
instantly quote the most conspicuous features. But one aspect of great influence in building
systems ranging from an actuator to a jet is the hidden technology (as stated by Prof. Richard
Murray) being controls. The future of mechanical engineering, when I envision it, is a world of
smart, efficient mechanical systems: self driving cars, autonomous robots, intelligent
manufacturing lines and smart energy grids. The ability of Control theory to manage and regulate
behavior of systems in multiple domains of Mechanical Engineering is appealing to me. It
supplements my tendency to be versatile. With a desire to learn advanced concepts in control
theory and to apply them to a real world problem, I want to pursue a MS degree in Mechanical
Engineering with an emphasis in Controls. An exploration into IC engines in my sophomore year,
helped me secure an internship at Ashok Leyland R D center. This gave me an industrial insight
into engine assembly techniques, sensor systems and had a hands on opportunity to install an EGR

Matchlock Guns In The Nineteenth Century
15th century weapons.
Weapons developed in this century were primarily used for defense of a structure or infantry and
cavalry. The first firearms were matchlock guns developed in this century. Matchlock guns were
fuse ignited and lit by a match. When the fuse burned down it ignited gun powder and fired
projectiles. Matchlock guns were widely used for up to a century before the Wheelock is invented.
16th 17th century weapons.
The wheel lock gun is invented. Similar to the matchlock in every way, except its ignited by a
mechanism that is set back and released forward when the trigger is squeezed creating a spark.
Though the wheel lock was more proficient, it was more expensive to produce than match lock
guns. So matchlock guns were still widely used during this century. The wheel lock guns invention
was a progressive step in firearms.
Later in the 16th century the flintlock gun is developed. The flintlock solved several issues with
the wheel lock gun. They created a lid for the powder pan that would lift simultaneously with the
drop of the flint lever to ignite the powder. Flint lock guns were the dominant gun for two centuries.
Flint lock muskets were used by the infantry in many war s, battles, and engagements throughout

The writers use of a simile here suggests that the coach is not in a good condition since it is compared to a drunken man. Drunken men tend to be out of control and sloppy and this gives us the impression that the wind is making the coach have similar actions to those of a drunken man. • 7. Conformity Is The Most Popular Form Of Conformity As Dr. Seuss once said, Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don t matter and those who matter don t mind. Through this quote, the foundation of conformity is uprooted from its murky hovel and is disputed with. Despite, though, how many people preach these words, they still succumb to the mind numbing effects without even realizing it, because they are not fully aware of the causes of this topic. That is why one needs to understand the causes of conformity before preventing the effects. The three causes of conformity include: changing how one acts to avoid the rejection of their peers, depending on other people s opinions because they are oblivious to a certain topic, and conforming to something based on social characteristics. Changing how one acts to fit in better with a group, or normative conformity, is the most popular form of conformity in the world today. According to Philip G. • 8. Analysis Of The Hero s Journey Small or big, everything we do in life is part of our journey. Reg Harris The Hero s Journey describes the voyage one takes throughout life to grow and change as a person. He breaks the journey down into eight steps leading to the return. It starts out as a goal that isn t always easy to reach, one goes through hardship and personal doubts only to succeed and become a better person. An example of this journey can be found in the movie, Troy through the character Achilles. Achilles is a strong fearless warrior in the movie, Troy who goes through The Hero s Journey and ends up with a change of heart. As the movie begins we are introduced to Achilles as a fierce and strong warrior, fearing no one. He begins the first step of Harris journey, also known as the call, when Odysseus goes to talk to him. Odysseus visits Achilles to ask him to fight in the war in Troy. He describes the war as great and in need of their best warrior, the perfect invitation into his journey. The second step in Harris journey is the threshold, where we encounter obstacles and doubts. One of the main examples of threshold in Achilles life would be his mother. When Achilles brings up that he has been invited to war his mother gives him two options. Those options are to stay where he is a live a normal long life with a wife children and happiness where not many would remember his legacy, or to go to war and possibly die fighting but be remembered for years to come. Dracula by Bram Stoker and The Black Cat by Edgar Allen Poe Any text that is composed is written to fit into the society that it is written for. A genre must evolve and modernise itself to remain relevant and interesting to the target audience. In comparison, the story The Black Cat by Edgar Allen Poe modernized the gothic genre even further to adapt it to the audience of the early 19th century. The composer used the questionable sanity of his character and the overtly violent acts committed by this character, to create an evil that was not embodied as a supernatural creature, but as a man. He created an idea of the perverse nature of humans to create an evil that was truly terrifying. • 16. Non-Governmental Safety Regulations Every person on earth needs food to survive. Hence, ensuring that the food we consume is in fact safe to eat is one of the most fundamentally important actions that an agency, governmental, or otherwise can take. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO, 2010), the responsibility of ensuring safe foodproducts is a shared responsibility among government and non government agencies. When examining the role of non governmental agencies in this important component of the food market, one might consider their position both in terms of governmental regulations and independent of these. The role of governments, for example, is to establish policies for food safety by means of a system of controls to ensure that these are met. The government, however, is not solely responsible to ensure that these safety standards are met. Indeed, an even more direct responsibly for ensuring food safety and acceptable standards lie with non governmental entities, including all the operators within the food chain. Even consumers play a role in ensuring food safety standards by means of expressing concerns or requirements for the safety of the products that they consume. According to the study of Liu, Long and Li(2015), the general advantages of this brand new technology over the conventional one, namely, the wheeled train, can be concluded into the following three items. First, due to the absence of the friction, it can run more smoothly and quietly. Secondly, there are less wear and tear happening during the operation, hence less maintenance and on going cost is needed. Lastly, it can attain a rather high speed. This essay will examine the key technologies of the maglev train from both the dominanted systems and the main characteristics of high speed and low speed maglev trains perspectives. The findings of Lu et al (2013) study suggest that it consists of primary coils, secondary coils and levitation magnet. As Lu et al (2013) state, the train is driven by the interaction between traveling magnetic field and the eddy currents, as well as thrust force. This can be demonstrated by the electricity magnetism. However, the limitations of this system can be apparently found. The intensity of the magnetic field is uneven, which is shown by the weakened near the entry end sector and the intensified near the exit end sector (Guo, Zhou and Lian, 2012). This is known as the end effect . Lee, Kim and Lee (2006) points out that its efficiency is relatively low due to the end effect. This is further demonstrated by Guo, Zhou and Lian (2012), who claim that end effect will produce a downwards pressure on the thrust force, which decreases the power efficiency and affects the motor performance. Additionally, it tends to be evident that normal force can exert a negative impact on the levitation system due to end ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Poetry And Literary Analysis Of Birches By Robert Frost Birches , written by Robert Frost in 1913 and published as part of his Mountain Interval collection, is a poem of childhood naivety. The euphonic piece explores the use of abundant writing techniques, all of which contribute to its layers of complexity. The speaker of this poem is focused on birch trees, hoping that they have been bent by a young boy swinging them; however, the speaker is fully aware of the Truth , knowing that they have indeed been bent down by an ice storm. Wishing to go back in time to the days in which he himself would swing birchtrees, the speaker contemplates more profound meanings of this swinging. A tendency found in Frost s writing is an implementation of nature, often utilized as either the focus of the work or just an auxiliary motif, resulting in quasi transcendental themes. Being one of his most beloved works, Robert Frost s Birches is a poem which, upon analysis of its complex use of poetic and literary devices, reveals a culmination of distinct themes. Birches is a poem open to many themes and interpretations, some of which only require the poem s most direct, nominal meaning. Others interpretations require a more in depth, holistic approach, analyzing its structure and devices. Neither of these approaches are more correct than the other. A holistic interpretation of this work instills the motif of balance, putting forth the idea that life is a constant pursuit to achieve balance between equal, yet opposite concepts. Another ... The commandments can prevent a lot of things. They can also earn you some respect . I think more should be added. One commandment is that you should always speak when you walk into a room .It is considered rude if you walk into a room full of people and don t speak to them . You wouldn t like it if you were sitting in a room and somebody walked in and don t acknowledge your presence . That s why the polite thing to do is speak. That earns you more respect from others. Stealing is always wrong no matter what way you try to put it as. Stealing is not only illegal, it s also a good way to lose trust in people. You wouldn t like it if somebody stole from you so don t steal from them. Stealing from people loses trust and respect so you should not steal from anybody at all. The fifth commandment is if somebody sneezes , be courteous and say bless you. People usually sneeze and expect to be told bless you afterwards. It is polite to say bless you after somebody sneezes. Most people feel as if you care enough to say it once you say bless you to them . If you sneeze, you most likely would want somebody to say bless you to you. • 38. The Potential Of Persuasion By Phaedrus And Life Of... Bui Ngo Thanh Truc (Tessa) The Potential of Persuasion in Phaedrus and Life of Demosthenes Persuasion is an essential skill for rhetoricians. Since all a rhetorician needs is not the truth but his own opinion, persuasion is necessary to address the assembly. While persuasion could be used to lead a city to making the right decisions and gaining glory, the power of persuasion could be also abused or used by the wrong person. Demosthenes uses his rhetorical skills to push Athens away from its course of destruction. He also advocates for policies which are beneficial to Athens. Demades and the other orators were supportive of Athens becoming allies which was the wrong course of action because it led to the destruction of Athens. Someone could misuse their skill of persuasion due to lack of knowledge and morality. Good orators can also have flaws, like Demosthenes and his susceptibility to bribery. The negative potential can be reduced if the rhetoricians are philosophers and knowledgeable of ethics. Socrates and Phaedrus s discussion shows how truth is relative to whoever is most persuasive. While Plutarch does not state any solutions to reducing negative potential in rhetorical speeches, Plato s method for giving a persuasive speech worthy of praise is by dialectic speech. Both Plato and Plutarch acknowledge the power of rhetoric and persuasion to affect the course of events in both a positive and negative way and recognize the problem that comes with it. First, persuasion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Women s Role In The Victorian Era Oppression Of Women Victorian age female oppression is frequently blotted out from discussion. The maltreatment of women has played a key role in society since the conception of humankind. The Victorian age, however, is what particularly peaks my interest. The treatment of women in that era was entirely centralized around the understanding that women were subordinate to men. With their deeply embedded concepts of misogyny, we have thus arrived at the current roles women play in society today. It is because of the role this era still plays in the evaluation of women, that I would choose to teach of the Victorian Eraoppression of women during Reed s Paideia education week. The fundamental function of a womanin the 19th century was childbirth. Believing firmly in the lifelong energy levels a human contained, women were not allowed to focus on much except childbirth. Reproduction was their key purpose of existing. Education was minimal, due to the fact that learning might decrease their focus on multiplying. Controversy surrounding executive orders starting to sweep the nation again in 1861 when President Lincoln issued an executive order in the months preceding the Civil War. During the early months of 1861, a Southerner named John Merryman led a group of Southern rebels through Maryland and Virginia fighting federal troops. Eventually, when federal officials captured John Merryman, his attorneys argued that he had a right to see a judge before spending more time in prison. In response, President Lincoln issued an executive order suspending habeas corpus, which is a suspect s right to see a judge after they taken to prison. In the years following the Civil War and the early 20th century, the use of executive orders continued to rise. Due to President Theodore Roosevelt s belief in expanding the powers of the executive branch, he quickly became the first President to issue more than 1,000 executive orders during his presidency. However, Franklin D. Roosevelt s support for New Deal legislation and laws led to him issuing 3,522 executive orders during his time in office (the most of any President of the United States). Furthermore, as history progressed, Presidents continued to utilize executive orders. • 41. Essay Comparing The Marriage Of Figaro And Twelfth Night A common discussion between the sexes is the omnipotent power that men seem to hold over women in all societies. Why do men always have the social advantage over women? Both Shakespeare s Twelfth Night and Beaumarchais The Marriage of Figaro show that there is indeed a social stigma placed on women where women are not allowed as much freedom to either fight back against a suitor or choose not to accept a suitor s love and choose another. Shakespeare s Twelfth Night focuses mainly on the negative stigmas against women, while Beaumarchais The Marriage of Figaro places most of the blame for perpetuating the stigmas on the aristocracy, especially the men within the aristocracy (i.e. the Count). The Countess, too, is in a similar position, although she is of the aristocracy. The Countess is held strictly accountable for the rumors that she was engaging in an affair, even though the Count himself is attempting to engage in his own affair with Suzanne. • 42. Poets Present Difficult Relationships in The Farmer’s... Charlotte Mew explores the theme of lack of intimacy during the course of her poem, The Farmers Bride. Various techniques are used to represent the stilted relationship the speaker and his maid succumb to. Likewise, The Manhunt, written by Simon Armitage uses various metaphors and semantic fields of war and anguish to illustrate the speaker s yearning to feel the hurt her partner is experiencing and take the pain away. Although, the ambiguous ending doesn t satisfy this. The six stanzas in The Farmer s Bride are of various lengths, with the meter per line varying. Mew uses this as a representation of the in balance in the relationship of the farmer and his bride. During the last stanza the farmer is presented to feel sympathetic for his bride and possibly regretful for the animalistic manner he treated her throughout as she sleeps up in the attic there alone, poor maid Tis but a stair betwixt us. Many might instantly quote the most conspicuous features. But one aspect of great influence in building systems ranging from an actuator to a jet is the hidden technology (as stated by Prof. Richard Murray) being controls. The future of mechanical engineering, when I envision it, is a world of smart, efficient mechanical systems: self driving cars, autonomous robots, intelligent manufacturing lines and smart energy grids. The ability of Control theory to manage and regulate behavior of systems in multiple domains of Mechanical Engineering is appealing to me. It supplements my tendency to be versatile.
