Nt1330 Unit 6 Lab 1
Goal
The objectives of this lab were to install essential services such as Active Directory, Dynamic
Host Configuration Service, Domain Name Service and Network Time Service on a Windows
Server Platform. I used windows server 2016 technical review version 3 and successfully installed
all the mentioned services on it. In this lab we used all services on windows as primary and I
configured the services on Linux as secondary services.
Security Consideration
One of the important part of system administration should be secure, so it is very important to
understand which factors can affect security inside and outside our system. There are many key
decisions that have to be made, for example, what server operating system should a system use to

We need to have a secure services and network and also it must be available sometime up to 24/7

must check our performance to find the bottleneck. After identifying our bottlenecks we can plan
and see what changes can improve our performance.
To measure the performance I used Opsview monitoring solution to monitor both DNS and
DHCP on Linux and Windows server. Some sample tools like ping, nslookup and traceroute can
be used in Windows and Linux to measure the basic metrics for DNS and DHCP. TO have a real
data we need to test inside a real network or with some means generate the amount of traffic near
the real traffic to find our network and services bottlenecks.
For DNS we need also to test how long it takes authoritative DNS servers to respond to a request
for your domain or host, including the Domain, the TLD, and the Root DNS server response times.
This test provides us with information to help identify possible DNS hosting performance delays
resolving our domain. It can be useful when evaluating the DNS performance of hosting providers,
and general troubleshooting performance of a

A Comparison of Christian Symbols in Song of Solomon,...
Although religion does not exist as a central theme in Toni Morrison s work, it does set premise
for a richly intertwined web of symbolism. Morrison s novels focus on the lives of characters
acting in the present day or recent past. For African Americans, events of the past are a crucial
facet of culture as they seek to remember their history, the most influential of these events reaching
far back into the years of slavery. Historians argue that for incoming slaves, Christianity offered a
religious ground for the displaced individual, a soil in which to replant the symbolsof their native
spirituality. In interviews and articles regarding her works, Morrison seems to take on a tone of
rejection towards the idea that the civilization of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Africans are certainly spiritual in their worship, but why doesn t anyone refer to their native cult as
African Religion? Catholic rituals are obviously religious, but does one have to be spiritual to
participate? These example are clearly overly generalized, but the true matter of principle lies in the
fact that we do refer to African religion as African Spirituality and other denominational rituals can
in fact become far too routine. Morrison s texts recognize the relationship between religion and
spirituality and attempt to address the critical issue of African Americans embracing Christianity,
the religion of the slaveholders (28).
The point has to be addressed as to whether Morrison s references to Christian belief and
symbolism are purposeful or unconscious. Because she is writing with the motive to prove a
point regarding the struggles of African Americans, clearly some references (like for example her
character s names) are direct and premeditated. However, as Morrison herself claims to have read
the Bible and made it an active part of her life (Unspeakable 32), fragments of Christian dogma
filter through into her writing almost unconsciously. This autobiographical interlay of Christian
symbols gives Morrison freedom to express her ideas more directly through personal insight.
Evidence in support of these hypotheses is found throughout Morrison s literary cannon. Four
novels most worthy of discussion are Song of Solomon, Sula,

General Purpose: To inform
Specific Purpose: By the end of my speech, the audience will be able to identify three hidden
secrets they probably did not know about Disneyland and also some history on the amusement park.
Central Idea: The happiest place on earth has a few interesting facts that most people don t know
about.
Organizational Method: Informative
Introduction:
Disneyland, opening in 1955, has become one of the happiest places on earth. With having close

11. Hidden Mickeys of Disney are one of the best scavenger hunts at Disneyland or Disneyworld. A.
A hidden mickey is an image of Mickey Mouse concealed in the design of a Disney attraction
(rides, decoration, resort, etc.) In designing, constructing or adding the final touches to an
attraction, Imagineers subtly hide: Mickey Mouse silhouettes. Disney fans have to find these
hidden mickeys and it s a fun scavenger hunt for all. B. Hidden Mickeys can be hard to find and
you don t want to mix them up with Mickeys that aren t actually hidden mickeys. 1. First, any
Mickey that seems large and very intricate, such as a formation of a cave, is probably not an
honest to god hidden mickey. 2. Second, a Mickey should be proportioned correctly. If the ears
are too small or too close together, like the padlocks in all the parks, or if each circle is a
different size and not in perspective, it is most likely not a hidden mickey. 3. Lastly, a true hidden
mickey should not have to rely too much on imagination, such as the Matterhorn Mickey. If you
must squint your eyes, tilt your head, and have a certain amount of lighting at a certain angle, it s
probably not a Mickey. A mickey might be upside down or sideways, but when pointed out, should
be relatively clear.

Adversity Has the Effect of Eliciting Talents Which in...
Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain
dormant. What the Roman poet Horace was saying was that when there is an obstacle in our
way, our true colors will radiate. I could not agree more. When we as human beings feel
passionate about achieving a goal, we may learn something new of ourselves, maybe a new trait
that we did not know we possessed, when we reach new heights we did not know we could push
ourselves towards. Challenges are similar to tests. Challenges are faced every day, but how we
respond to them determines how strong we really are. Prime examples are superheroes and students
that move dramatically. Superheroes know the difference between right and wrong. The whole...

His or her enemy, or adversity, will be a number of things, mainly revolving around worry. They
may worry about if people there will like them, or want to be friends with them, whether or not
they will fit in; things of that nature. If that student encompasses themselves in a fortress of
solitude then that would show that they are not a very strong or confident person. In turn,
someone will notice this and possibly, out of pity, approach them and realize that they are
comfortable and they stick around with them to be polite. However, if that student is the
opposite, then maybe they will try out for a team and show off their skills or lack of and the
other students will see him or her and praise them for being so assertive and hopefully befriend
the new kid after proving that they are very outgoing and easy to get along with. When
something is in your way, how you respond to the situation makes you, you. If you have never
been put in an uncomfortable position then you will not necessarily know how you would
respond, so you do not know that side of yourself. Roman could not have said it any better.
Adversity does in fact awaken undeveloped or inactive capacities. To fully understand how you
would act under harsh conditions you have to be placed in that situation. Like I stated, when there
is an obstacle in our way, our true colors will radiate. That is how we will define

Cartons Short Story
There were two choices: mop the kitchen, or dump out two thousand cartons of spoiled
macadamia nut milk. Sadly we didn t get the first choice. The boys decided to mop the kitchen,
which they probably didn t know how to do. We got to work, two girls opening boxes, two more
opening cartons, and another girl and myself were emptying the cartons into the sink. It wasn t
really that bad, only a faint smell of something bad, I thought we got the easy job. That is until
we kept working. Unloading box after box the smell grew stronger. It smelled worse than a
barnyard by the time we reached the bottom rack. We stopped for a minute to clean up, the
cartons were all broken and the garbage bags were leaking milk. Our shoes were dirty and soaked

the tenth. My body was shaking and I feared I might pass out from the awful smell, but I
continued, I only had two more cartons. They were horrible. The bottoms were all green and
flimsy, dripping milk all over the ground as I rushed them to the sink. The job was done, until I
turned around and saw the mess we left. I hauled the giant trash bags over my shoulder and
threw them up into the old dumpster in the back of the building. By the time I was coming back
in all the girls in my group had finished their break and came back in to help, but I was all done. I
mopped up the ground and the room lightened. Everyone seemed pretty happy that they didn t
have to clean up, I was pretty happy that I did clean up, I did the best job. Our day was done and
we were dismissed from our worksite. As we climbed into the van, and I closed the heavy door, I
thought so much, but most of all I thought about how our first day at work was and what the week

Controversy ove the Patriot Act Essay
Still Free to Speak about the USA PATRIOT Act
To some, the United and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools to Intercept
and Obstruct Terrorism (USA PATRIOT) act is a law essential to winning the War on Terrorism;
for others, this act is viewed with utmost contempt for its Orwellian nature allowing Big Brother
to read your email and look through your library records. The security versus liberty debate
prevails with both sides citing legal and ethical reasons in support or in opposition to this
controversial act. Hastily passed with virtually no debate forty five days after the terror attacks of
September 11, the USA PATRIOT acts stated purpose is to deter and punish terrorist acts in the

The controversy surrounding this law mounts from claims from civil libertarians that the USA
PATRIOT act interferes with many constitutionally guaranteed rights and liberties including the
First Amendment; many neo conservatives maintain that the act is necessary to protect Americans
from future attacks of terrorism. Critics of the USA PATRIOT act are unified in their claim that the
law is unconstitutional. In the case Humanitarian Law Project v. John Ashcroft, U.S. District
Judge Audrey Collins handed down the first ruling against the USA PATRIOT act since its
inception calling the ban on providing expert advice or assistance impermissibly vague and in
violation of the First and Fifth Amendments. In another, more recent, ruling, U.S. District Judge
Victor Marrero ruled that a key component of the USA PATRIOT act, which allowed the FBI to
demand information from Internet service providers without public review or judicial oversight,
violates free speech rights by imposing permanent silence on targeted companies. Marrero wrote
that democracy abhors undue secrecy (Doe v. Ashcroft). In a current challenge to the USA
PATRIOT act, the ACLU claims that a certain fear of the law has caused a dramatic decline in
memberships and donations of mosques and has forced a church sponsored group that aids

Personal Response To Tikkun Olam
As I write this, it is Rosh Hashanah, the first day of the Jewish year 5778. For the next ten days,
Jews will be introspective, and look critically at ourselves hoping to improve ourselves. Jews
believe in the concept of Tikkun Olam, which translates loosely to repairing the world; we
believe humans have an obligation outside of ourselves, to the planet and to other people. As my
Rabbi sermonized, there are people suffering across the globe, and whatever we can do, we must
do, to alleviate suffering. However, this idea is not only a religious one for me. My family
worked for civil rights during the turbulent 1960s. My parents worked with the Fair Housing
Council of Los Angeles to desegregate our white neighborhood. And, after the city of Watts was
decimated by riots in 1965, my parents volunteered at, and my sisters and I attended, a Head
Start program there. This was a literacy pre school program, free for any child, which was largely
populated by minorities, and my parents felt there should be Caucasian representation as well. So,
partly because of my religious beliefs and partly because of my political ones, I believe it is of
importance to the moral,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

aid, there is a more complex interpretation of what U.S. foreign aid is and what it does both for

using its military forces for good, such as during World War II when American soldiers helped to
defeat Hitler s Nazism. When dealing with a repressive regime which does not want to engage in
democracy military force may be necessary. I am convinced that the United States can provide a

Rachel Ruysch Research Paper
What would you consider today s most desired status symbols? A mansion or a beach side
home? A designer handbag or clothes? In Rachel Ruysch s day it was a simple tulip. Looking at
her floral still life paintings can reveal an entire hidden world. Rachel Ruysch was born in 1664 in
the northern Netherlands. She was born into a wealthy and prominent family; her father a scientist
and her mother the daughter of an architect. Her father was a professor of anatomy and botany and
also an amateur painter. From a young age Ruysch would draw and paint the insects and plants in
her fathers collection. At age fifteen, she was an apprentice to William van Aeist, who was a

The Netherlands became the largest importers of new and exotic plants and flowers from around
the world (Robinson). Once valued primarily for their use as herbs or medicine, flowers became
newly appreciated simply for their beauty and fragrance. They became prized luxuries and desirable
status symbols for the wealthy. Botanists and gardeners sought the rarest specimens imported from
overseas trade and the tulip was the most exotic.
Flowers In a Vase was a paintingthat Ruysch painted after 1700. This composition balances a
swirl of twisting blossoms along a diagonal axis (Chadwick 138). The variety of blooms and
colors, and the painter s subtle touch and impeccable surface treatment distinguish her work
(Chadwick 138). Flowers lavishly spill out of the vase, filling the entire picture space. Some are
in full bloom, others droop and wilt, as leaves and curving stems entwine throughout (Robinson).
The lighting in this painting falls on the flowers from the bottoms left to top right, leaving the
closed peonies at the edge in shadow. Complementary colors create harmony, as warm yellows and
rose balance cool blues and greens. Against the dark background, her sophisticated palette creates a
flawless sense of depth and three dimensionality (Wieseman). And looking more closely, the viewer

After reading the story it is easy to see that forecasting demand is difficult in the toy industry.
Particularly with toys that depend on trends and have limited marketability. The expert
commentator M. Eric Johnson mentions, Santa needs to stop reacting to fads and start creating
them. (McNulty, 2014) Just because the singer said Meowrrr was so yesterday does not take
into account the kids who don t follow fads, nor does it take into account regional saturation of
this singer s popularity. Market analysis may show that the product may be more popular and
sustainable in another region. Stopping production on Meowrrr completely without up to date
market knowledge could be just as costly as producing too much. While on the flip side, not
producing enough Timmy the Train toys and CDs could also be detrimental. I do appreciate the
helpful advice from Anne Omrod, Timmy the Train is a stable seller so producing the remaining

As the 19th century rolled into the 20th , WWI was imminent and life was changing. The romantic
era had flourished and passed, impressionistic music was well into its lifespan, but arising from
amid the rubble of the romantic era was the Verismo movement! Verismo was a movement or new
school of thought embodied in the operas of composers like Pietro Mascagni, Ruggero Leoncavallo,
Umberto Giordani, Giacomo Puccini. Verismo is virtually synonymous with realism. It was an
attempt made by composers to inject into opera, the real life pains and experiences that so easily

The Effect of High Light Wavelengths on Pollen Tube Growth on Impatiens walleriana
Introduction
Flower reproduction is highly influenced by various environmental factors including external
temperature, moisture, and light. Each needs to be at a desired level for the flower to contain
mature, viable pollen. Pollen grains, being one of the most important factors of the flower s ability
to reproduce, need all these factors as well to become viable.
Solar radiation has become an expanding factor over the years caused by increased weather
climates and in turn causes reductions of the ozone layer in the atmosphere [6]. Most researchers

Made with all data obtained with each treatment using R program. Red light seemed to have a
higher mean length but the standard error of flashlight could have made an impact on their mean
length values, which could easily overcome red light. There is a statistically significant difference
between red and blue light. (n=30; un paired t test: P=7.79E 08). (Outliers red 583um, 549um).
It can be concluded that the flower treated with red light wavelength of 620 to 750 nm had similar
mean lengths of pollen tube elongation as the positive influence of flashlight treated flower with a
production of all wavelengths. Contrastingly the blue wavelength of 450 to 495 nm had a smaller
mean tube length compared to both flashlight and red light while still being longer than the
negative influence of sunlight.
Analysis:
In order to determine the correlation of the pollen tube length means collected from all four
groups of data, a one way ANOVA test was performed. The results only showed a significant
difference towards red and blue treated pollen with a p value of P=7.79E 08 (one way ANOVA).
Based on this data, the red illuminated flower produced longer pollen tubes, and since the means
can be considered unequal from one way ANOVA and there is a significant difference between red
and blue tube lengths, our hypothesis is supported that a higher wavelength of light is beneficial for
flower reproduction enhancing pollen tube

Food Stamp Program Essay
The Food Stamp Program, recently renamed Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, has been
helping serve the citizens of America since 1939. This program focuses on providing food at a
discounted price to those who qualify. The past has helped shaped and grow this government
program, however, it has also had to adjust and change due to new demands and the changing
demographics of the population. SNAP has allowed Americans to provide themselves and their
families with nutritious meals at a discounted price. However, if the newly proposed restrictions are
implemented there would be fewer options available and limit the recipient s purchasing power.
The Food Stamp Program first began seventy eight years ago, by Security of Agriculture, Henry ...

Three main legislative pieces were introduced to help address the issues of where the money to
fund the program would come from, how the program would be administered and the complete
process of certification. On July 1, 1994, the FSP program began operating nationwide. The longer
the bill was enacted the more problems came up that needed to be addressed. In 1977, both the
republicans and democrats provided main targets that each party wanted to be addressed. Thus, the
new Food Stamp Act of 1977 revised the primary act in the following ways: established statutory
income eligibility guidelines at the poverty line, penalized households whose heads voluntarily quit
jobs, eliminated the requirement that households must have cooking facilities (Supplemental
Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP): A Short History of SNAP). With increasing enrollment,
there became a need to re adjust, cut backs were issued throughout the program and the
structuring of some elements of the bill had to change in order to cut cost. Over the next few
years, the program grew in the number of recipients and in its area of coverage. The FSP begin
offering relief for disaster victims and extending coverage of children and those with disabilities. By
August 2008, participation had reached an all time (non disaster) high of 29 million people per
month (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP): A Short History of

Differences Between Divergent And The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games takes place in a post civil war country that has been divided into 12 districts.
Katniss Everdeen lives in district 12 and competes in the yearly Hunger Games. She is not given
a choice in this matter. Once she wins, she rebels against the government and fights to fix the
districts. Divergent, a series by Veronica Roth, is a failed Utopia where each person has to
choose which faction they want to be a part of for the rest of their life. Tris chooses Dauntless, and
then discovers she is Divergent, a rare trait that could lead to being disowned by her society. This
helps her to rebel against the governmentthat is controlling people in her faction.
While both The Hunger Games and Divergent are dystopian series with female leads that rebel and
lose family, in Divergent the characters have more choice in their destiny while in the Hunger
Games they live in fear of their future.
The Hunger Games, A book series by Suzanne Collins, differs in few ways from Veronica Roth s
Divergent. The Hunger Games lead role, Katniss Everdeen, lives in a world of few choices. The
government controls the lives of everybody in the 12 districts. When Katniss little sister, Primrose,
is chosen to fight in the annual Hunger Games, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She is forced
to fight and forced to kill, all to survive. This competition results in the people fearing not only their
government, but also their futures. Katniss becomes a symbol of rebellion against the

Psychological Disorders
Psychological Disorder
July, 20, 2011
Psychological Disorder Paper Psychological disorders are stated to be abnormalities of the mind,
known as mental disorders (Klasco, 2011). Abnormalities of the mind cause persistent behaviors
that affect an individual’s daily function and life (Klasco, 2011). The different types of
psychological disorders include mood disorders, personality disorders, anxiety disorders, and eating
disorders (Klasco, 2011). The causes of these disorders are unknown, but factors that contribute to
these disorders include childhood experiences, chemical imbalances in the brain, illnesses, heredity,
stress, and prenatal exposures (Klasco, 2011). Psychological disorders can be serious and can be

The anxiety (nervousness) of this disorder causes the individual to feel the urgent need to perform
certain routines or rituals (compulsion) (Chakraburtty, 2009). For example, a person who has an
unreasonable germ fear constantly washes their hands (Chakraburtty, 2009). The rituals are
performed in an attempt to prevent or make the obsessive thoughts go away (Chakraburtty, 2009).
The rituals that are performed are temporarily the person will perform the rituals again once his or
her obsessive thoughts return (Chakraburtty, 2009).
Causes of OCD
The exact cause of obsessive compulsive disorder is not clearly understood, however studies have
shown biological and environmental factors playing a role in this disorder (Chakraburtty, 2009).
Billions of nerve cells are contained in the human brain (Chakraburtty, 2009). These nerve cells are
called neurons. The neurons communicate and work together so the body can function normally
(Chakraburtty, 2009). Research has shown how low levels of serotonin can contribute to OCD
(Chakraburtty, 2009). Environmental stressors can also trigger OCD (Chakraburtty, 2009).
Different environmental factors that can contribute to OCD include abuse, illness, death of a loved
one, work or school related problems, changes in living situations, and relationship concerns
(Chakraburtty, 2009).

Pete Rose And The Hall Of Fame
My controversial topic is on Pete Rose and how he should be inducted into Baseball s Hall of
Fame. Pete Rose was a player that I looked up to when I was a young boy playing baseball. I was a
big fan of his collecting all of his baseball cards from rookie year up to the present time. Now, most
of the baseballcritics and others do not want Pete Rose inducted. They claim that his illegal betting
on baseball games should keep him out of the Hall of Fame.
Almost all of the highly questionable evidence that Commissioner Bart Giamatti held was
derived from former friends and associates of Rose. Up to $30,000 per day , so some of Roses
close friends say. These former friends of Rose are Tommy Gioiosa, Donald Stenger, Mike Fry,
and Paul Janszen. This evidence is what prompted the banishment from baseball of Pete Rose,
which he signed. The evidence was enough for the Commissioner. In 1989, baseball s
Commissioner Bart Giammati suspended Pete Rose from association with professional baseball
for life for gambling. Rose also spent five months in a minimum security prison for tax evasion in
1990. He did not report cash money he accepted for signing baseballs and photographs at baseball
card shows. It is still to this day not proven that Rose did bet on the baseball team that he was
managing. Rose himself still holds true to his statement that he never bet on the game of baseball.
Evidence is minimal and it has been over ten years, yet he is still ineligible to be voted into

Theme for English by Langston Hughes and In the Inner City...
Speaking Out Theme for English B by Langston Hughes and in the inner city by Lucille Clifton
are both simple poems written by African American during a time where being black was not so
popular and a trying time for those whom were black Americans. They both wrote about the plight
of blacks during their perspective times; Hughes piece was one that spoken in a straightforward and
blunt manner, while Clifton was a harsh and muggy one. Both of these poems were written in
everyday language, I would imagine, ensuring that their point was one that was easy to understand.
Hughes poem was not written without any rhymescheme, while Clifton s had some rhyme scheme.
These poems show the darker side, the evil and violence towards fellow Americans because of
their skin color. To me both Hughes and Clifton speaks out about the evil side during a time when
it was not popular to speak out about this dark side; which was considered the norm. In the poem
Theme for English B, by Langston Hughes, the teacher tells the speaker to go home and write.
The speaker wonders if it is that simple; I can tell he does not feel passionate about the
assignment. He begins by writing that he is twenty two, colored, and born and educated in
Winston Salem, Durham, and at college in Harlem. He writes that he is the only colored student
in his class. He walks down a hill into Harlem, crossing streets before arriving at the Harlem
branch of the YMCA. He takes the elevator up to

The Party Goers In The Great Gatsby
The boundless parties of the roaring 1920s reflected the wildness and new wealth being

depicting a party at Mr. Jay Gatsby s, an extraordinarily wealthy and mysterious man, in which
the attendees seem to have joyous and exciting lives. However, under the surface their lives hold
little meaning and can be seen as depressing. Fitzgerald uses depictions of the attendees,
descriptions of the food and drink, and setting in order to reveal the dark undertone of the lives
of the upper class. One way in which Fitzgerald brings out the shallowness of the people is by
describing the way they carry themselves. The party goers are said to have enthusiastic meetings in
which they never knew each other s names, implying they never really cared about the people they

To help glamourize the events, Gatsby s servants put up enough colored lights to make a

the guests gravitate towards Gatsby s mansion looking for protection from the darkness in their

servants exposes how out of control the people are who attend these parties that give no care to the

Comparing Pisan s and Plato s Views on the Roles of Women...
Comparing Pisan s and Plato s Views on the Roles of Women
It is hardly fair to make a true judgement on whose view of women was more sensible. For one
reason Pisan was a women and Plato was a man. It has taken thousand of years for women to
accomplish equality towards men now so Pisan s view could be seen as before her time.
Although, Pisan s view seems more sensible I can see how Plato s view could also be sensible
for his time and place. In Christine De Pisan s The book of the city of ladies, in the beginning she
began to examine her own character as a natural women. She looked at women who surround her

After this was told to her she realized that those feeling that she felt in the beginning about how
they talked about women so badly. At the end her view was that women are capable of being
educated. Her idea is based upon smarts alone and not on physical nature. Her view of women
seems to be more sensible to me growing in the 20th century. We have learned over the years
that because you are a women does not mean that you are incapable of being equal to a man.
Although in physical strength men have gotten us by far mentally women are able to compete
with men. As for Plato s believes that men and women are not equal. He believes that men were
born and educated like citizens. He also believes that the only way of arriving at a right
conclusion about the possession and use of women and children is to follow the path on which we
originally started, when we said that the men were to be the guardians and watchdogs of the herd.
Plato also stated that the birth and education of women to be subject to similar or nearly similar
regulations. Then you shall see whether the result is in accordance with the male design. Plato then
states the question are dogs divided into hes and shes, or do they both share equally in hunting and
in keeping watch and in the other duties of dogs? Or do we entrust to the males the entire and
exclusive care of the flocks, while we leave the females at home, under the idea that the bearing and

Ideological Analysis Of Old Spice Advertising Essay
Ideological Analysis Of Old Spice Advertising
Beginning in 2010, Old Spice, an American brand of male grooming products, launched a new
advertising campaign. Referred to as The Man Your Man Could Smell Like the Old Spice
advertising campaign was originally intended to be a single use concept to promote a specific
product. However, widespread success of the original 30 second television commercial lead to the
launch of multiple variations of the advertisement across multiple media. The campaign centers on
Old Spice Man played by actor and model . While reciting rapid paced monologues regarding Old
Spice product benefits, Old Spice Man progresses through various activities, locations, costumes,
and/or extraordinary situations, all in one uninterrupted take while maintaining constant eye contact
with the camera in a nonchalant demeanor (Vogue Vibes, 2015, para 1). Typically, The Man Your

technique that can be utilized to analysis the example of Old Spice s advertising campaign, The

Modern vs. Classical Music
Though the delight of listening to a brand new track on a compact disc with a big name artist has
a similar emotional feel for modern day people, as it would have felt for people listening to a live

the increase of new technology and business schemes has allowed their base of listeners to be on a

The music medium has exploded into a worldwide cultural phenomenon, where ideas and thoughts
of composition and sound can be exchanged with ease through radios, computers, concerts and
Vinyl/CD/Tape/MP3, which leads to constantly evolving music, rather than the antiquated notion
of music being a regional cultural experience. In terms of the artist in the modern music scene,
the skill and dedication required is equally demanding if not more so to rise to the top in this
competitive industry, though the reward is far greater in terms of fame, wealth and social status;
all of which Mozart strived for but never was able to attain despite being perhaps one of the
greatest musical talents the world has seen yet. Also with the expansion of audiences, infusions of
genres and capabilities with technology, modern society has seen a trend in corporations
fabricating bands, composing music for artists that fit with the cultural fads and electronically
perfecting acoustics, all of which are ways for these companies to make quick profit. The downfall
in this is the loss of appreciation of music by these corporations and eventually listeners, in terms of
the emotion, talent and sacrifice that it takes away from the real musicians trying to make a name

The Edict Of Milan Analysis
The Edict of Milan was Constantine s way of wanting to end the Roman persecution of Christians.
Both Constantine and Licinius Augustus established this new law in 314 CE. This law is what
later became known as the Edict of Milan. The consequences that it had for the relationship between
Christians and Jews in the Roman Empirewas that most of the Christians were pleased with the
edict. It had meant an end to the persecutions that most had suffered from time to time, and a new
access to power and influence. Others had seen reason to be concerned, because the edict had only
mentioned Christians. The laws that came afterward impacted the Jews, for it had limited their
rights as citizens of the Roman Empire.
St. John Chrysostom represented both old and new forms of Christian thinking about Jews and
Christians by his courage in criticizing the rich and powerful and his compassion for the poor, and
in his sermons he challenged injustice and denounced the comfortable arrogance of the wealthy.
He had used his skill as an orator to attack the openness of many Christians to Jewish practices and
faith, which to Chrysostom meant a weakening of specifically Christian identity. He had viciously
attacked members of his own congregation, being Christians who attended synagogues and
observed Jewish festivals. He believed Jews would degenerate because of their odious assassination

Clifford The Ethics Of Belief Summary
What is Evidentialism? As evidentialism is a thesis about epistemic justification, it is a thesis

they must see the real proof have hardcore evidence. One famous argument about evidentialism is
by William Kingdon Clifford, (born May 4, 1845, Exeter, Devon, England died March 3, 1879,
Madeira Islands, Portugal) British philosopher and mathematician. Although he was most famous
for his work as a mathematician, Clifford also wrote, The locus classicus for the ethics of belief
debate is, unsurprisingly, the essay that christened it. The Ethics of Belief was published, in a
journal called Contemporary Review. (Chingell)
As stated in his writing, The Ethics of Belief, W.F. Clifford tells a story of a ship captain a story
that has sparked many arguments across the world and made people question their beliefs. The
story is about a ship captain who has doubts that his ship is in perfect condition to sail, the ship
was in desperate need of many repairs, regardless of what the crew was telling him, he believes
that his doubts are silly since there is no evidence that states that the ship is unworthy. In order to
make himself feel better he convinces himself that the ship is in perfect condition. The crazy part is
that the ship captain genuinely believed that nothing was wrong with the

Alma Thomas Gray Night Phenomenon Analysis
Art might not be viewed the same way as another individual could. Some people could see or look
at a painting, distinguishing their perspective or interpretation of an artwork. When I look at Alma
Thomas Gray Night Phenomenon, it s with a goal to identify what the art depicts. I would probably
glance at the painting, not taking my time to analyze its different features. At first glance, I register
the painting as simply a piece of artwork with a blue background and yellow specks in a pattern,
however I don t take much thoughtful processes to take place and bring emotions into viewing the
piece. When one looks at something, it is more routine like and to figure its function, without much
appreciation of the artwork. In contrast to looking

England Throughout History
England. What is the first word you think of when you hear, England? You may think of their
history and its effect. Another thought that could be is London. London is the capital and heart of
England that has its own history. Throughout history England has contributed so much, good and
bad. With that contribution England is one of the well most known country that is known for poise,
history, and tradition.
English history began in 500,000 BC with a boxgrove man from West Sussex. He was the first
human known in England. In 55 BC Julius Ceasar invaded England for Rome. After Cesar took
control Roman control lasted for 400 years. From 449 550 Jutes, Angles, and Saxons arrived in
England and took control. In the beginning of the ninth century the Vikings came and invaded
England. The Vikings controlled North and East England. In 897 Alfred the great defeated the
vikings living in England. Another important date in England s history is 1067 when the Tower of
London began being structured. (England. China: CTSP, 2010. Print) In 1154 Henry II becomes
the king. The next king, John became king in 1215 and signed the magna carta. 1348 49 was a
hard time for England because the black death kills one third of the population. A long time after
the black death was over in 1476 William Caxton set up England s first printing service. In 1485
Henry VII is crowned the King of England. Also during 1485 the Act of Union unified the England,
Wales, and Scotland. The three countries were

Mr. Gould s The Glass Of Wine
If we only knew what they were waiting for, Mr. Gould said, sounding more like a petulant child
than a diplomat. Monsieur Ochs set his glass down on the table. If I knew that, Mr. Gould... I
would be more than happy to go if I had any confidence that it would make a difference, Mr.
Alderbeek offered. As would I, Mr. Gould said. I suppose any or all of us would, but will it
make a difference? Robert said, becoming as frustrated as Monsieur Ochs seemed to be. As I
said, I do not believe that it will, Monsieur Ochs said, beginning to pour out another glass of
wine, much to Robert s confusion, since he already had a glass. And round and round and round
we go, Robert said with a sigh. A smile played on Monsieur Ochs s face. Then what do we do?
Mr. Gould asked. We wait. Monsieur Ochs shrugged. Tomorrow is another social event, Mr.
Alderbeek said with some hope coloring his statement. Yes, yes, it is! Robert leaped on his idea.
At the Marquis de BarthГ©lemy s home, isn t it? Yes, Mr. Alderbeek said. We could perhaps
corner the French delegation? Mr. Gould suggested. Monsieur Ochs shook his head. Too strong.
Too direct. He took yet a third glass and began to pour. But we should speak with them, Robert
argued, still watching Monsieur Ochs pouring wine. Yes. But one at a time and with great
diplomacy, Monsieur Ochs suggested, beginning to hand glasses to each of them. Once they all
stood with a glass in hand, he lifted his. To concluding this with

Give Me Liberty By Eric Foner Summary
In this excerpt from Eric Foner s Give Me Liberty!, he discusses the significance of religion in the
lives of Native Americans, as well as the social relations of Native Americans and the freedom and
liberty they attempted to acquire. As mentioned in the previous discussion, certain tribes in North
America were diverse. Although, they shared a common ideal and that was religion. Despite what
most of us may think, their religion was not quite different to those of Europeans. Moreover,
owning property was also something Native Americans believe as being a common resource, not an
economic commodity, whereas in the United States, the only people that owned land and property
were white males. Like every society, social status played a major role in determining one s
reputation. For instance, kindness and trade were valued tremendously. In addition, the Native
Americans valued attributes like generosity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women s lives were different compared to other countries because women were open to do such
tasks, premarital sex, marriage, and divorce. Men, on the other hand, contributed in communities
by hunting and played a sort of role model of what a successful leader is like. Society wasn t
really a patriarch yet because women contributed in religious ceremonies as tribal leaders. Because
of these different ideals and beliefs, the Europeans perceived the Native Americans as noble
savages, as opposed to their first encounter describing them as beautiful of stature and build.
However, as time went on, so did the Europeans desire for conquest, which resulted in the
conquering of their lands. The Native Americans were then forced to do labor and like many
endured throughout history, they were mistreated. The arrival of the Europeans started the
promotion of a patriarchal society, having women do housework and men taking authority
ultimately taking some freedom away from the Native

What Is White Man s Burden Of Imperialism
White man s Burden is a poem which promotes the exploitation of the Aboriginals. From the its
first verse to its end, it makes the concept of imperialism seem like a duty or job which needs to
be done. Progressing through the poem, imperialism is viewed as a privilege in which it
educates the half man, half child . The poem presents exploitation as a reward to the uneducated.
As goes the first verse, Take up the white man s burden , it s instantly referring to the Europeans.
To be fully blunt, it s the European s in reference because of the skin colour; white man . Send
forth the best ye breed, bind your sons to exile to serve your captives needs simply implies to

Your new caught, sullen peoples, half devil, half child . This is referring to the Aboriginals in a
very criticizing way. Sullen peoples, half devil, half child is how the Europeans saw these
Aboriginals when they came in contact. The Aboriginals weren t considered people but more
so, monsters. They were considered wild and angry. Take up the white man s burden, the savage
wars of peace, fill the mouth of Famine and bid the sickness cease . The savage wars of peace
are the protests of the colonists in which the Europeans must feel obliged to change their savage
ways and end them with so called peace . They must feed their empty stomachs and provide
medicine for the colonists as part of their duty. And when your goal is nearest. The end for others
sought, watch sloth and heathen Folly. Bring all your hopes to naught . The Europeans must not
give up because these sullen peoples are finally getting rid of their savage ways. The end for the

Introduction When returning back to teaching I think it s important for me to understand the major
factors that affect reading vocabulary levels. Researching this topic will prepare me in becoming a
better English teacher. Exploring these various affects will allow me to become more conscious
and prepared when it comes to helping my students with vocabulary and reading comprehension
skills. When entering the classroom every child is different so it s important to understand
diversity in the classroom. Wright states, Right from the beginning of schooling, there are profound
differences in vocabulary knowledge among young learners from different socioeconomic groups.
Just consider the following statistics: by age 4, a child interaction with his or family has already
produced significant vocabulary differences across socioeconomic lines, differences so dramatic
that they represent a 30 million word catastrophe Furthermore, this paper will explore three major
factors that affects reading vocabulary levels, home environment, school experiences, and child s
ability to make connection during reading. Literature Review When researching effects of reading
levels there are three major factors that

Authoritative Government
People do not much like being told what to do; however, people elect rulers to do just that and are
angered when things do not go their way. People do not much like making hard decisions, but do
not like to agree with people who make them instead. The ultimate debate when taking a position of
power then becomes whether to let the people have a voice in making a governmentor to build one
for them to follow. The best way to govern is to make a government for your public to follow, an
authoritative government. Authoritative governments benefit people more by creating equality
among for their populations, having a faster law making processes, and establishing a better
instilment of discipline and moral consciousness.

Health Maintenance Organization Act Of 1973
I was astounded by the beginning stages of the Health Maintenance Organization Act of 1973 which
were presented using a talk between John Ehrlichman and President Richard Nixon; Ehrlichman is
heard uncovering to Nixon that ...the less care they give them, the more money they make, a course
of action that Nixon remarked fine and not horrendous.
An extensive number of us, believe the United States is an extraordinary country. America
encapsulates various morals worth celebrating. Clearly, expressing profound gratitude to God for
the enrichments he has endeavored on this country is more than fitting. It seems, by all accounts, to

INVESTMENT STRATEGY REPORT Submitted to J. D. Williams, Inc. By Mizar Gonzalez
Industrial Engineering Department Southern Polytechnic State university 404 519 2792 February
20, 2008 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This report is our recommendation for an optimal investment
strategy that would allow J. D. Williams, Inc. to maximize the annual yield of an investment of
$800,000 in a diversified portfolio of funds. To find the investment that would result in the greatest
annual yield we have formulated a linear program that takes into account the requirements for the
client of J. D. Williams, Inc. The requirements for the investment portfolio can be found on the
section titled Problem Description The greatest annual... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The client will realize an annual yield on the $800,000 investment of $94,133.33 if it is allocated
in the following manner. The amount to be invested in the growth fund must be $ 248,889. The
income fund must have an investment of $ 160,000 and the money market fund must have an
investment of $ 391, 112. The solution is not surprising given the requirements for the
investments. The amount invested in the growth fund yields the greatest revenue but has to be
less than 50% of the total investment and is also limited by its high risk index. The amount is
greatest when invested in the money market fund because it balances the greater risk the other
funds are subjected to. Problem answers If the client s risk index was increased to.055 the
investment would be affected in the following manner. The optimal solution becomes $ 98, 800
and the funds would be allocated in the following manner: Growth fund $ 293, 334, Income fund
$ 160, 000, and Money Market fund $ 346, 667. If the original problem is consulted and the
annual yield of growth fund is downgraded to 16% the optimal solution would change to $92, 934
with the funds invested in the following manner. Growth fund $ 293, 334, Income fund $ 160, 000,
and Money Market fund $ 346, 667. The yield of the growth fund still justifies having a large
amount of the portfolio

Howard Wasdin Essay
Howard E. Wasdin was an American hero who overcame obstacles from childhood to become
part of the elite SEAL Team Six where he served his country honorably. He wrote a book about
his experiences with co author Stephen Templin. He served in the Navy for twelve years. During
this time he fought in Operation: Desert Storm and was part of the mission in Mogadishu, Somalia,
which inspired the movie Black Hawk Down. After being medically discharged from the U.S.
Navy, he became a chiropractor.
Howard Wasdin was born Howard E. Wilbanks on November 8, 1961 in Boynton Beach, Florida to
his 15 year old mother. He was born prematurely, weighed 3 pounds 2 ounces, and was carried
home in a shoebox. He was raised in Screven, Georgia and went to Cumberland College before
enlisting in the Navy. As a child, Wasdin suffered from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)
because of an extremely abusive stepfather who beat him often and violently. When he was in
the Navy, he served as a sailor in the Atlantic Fleet and as a Navy SEAL. He was on the elite SEAL
Team Six. Some challenges he faced were being abused by his stepfather Leon, he was in a
helicopter crash while on a mission, and he was shot in the leg three times.
Facing these challenges required a lot of courage. It also took a lot of courage for Wasdin to... Show

Grandma s Gift Sparknotes
Grandma s gift by author and illustrator, Eric Velasquez, is a multicultural book. It was published
in 2010 by Walker Company and then won the Pura Belpre Award in 2011 because of the
portrayal of Latino culture in Velasquez s illustrations. Although Grandma s Gift didn t win the
award for Velasquez s narrative, I felt that the traditions, language, art, and foods of a young boy
and his grandmother of Puerto Rican African descent represented and celebrated Latino culture
very well too. The author, Eric Velasquez, is telling the dialogue in this story to the readers
throughout the book and the readers get to know him and be with him in those moments. For
instance, Velasquez explains his journey to the Metropolitan Museum with his grandma and how
he couldn t believe his eyes when seeing a portrait of a man of African descent at the museum.

By introducing the Spanish language it increased the appeal and strength of the book by adding
more than just stating facts or using figurative language. Eric Velasquez does understate the
meaning of the story by having the Author s Note at the end explain that the Diego Velazquez
portrait of Juan de Pareja had a profound and lasting effect on [him] . He believes that the painting
he saw was the reason he is an artist today, which is very much an understatement in the story. The
eye opening experience about human experience of struggle was when Velasquez s grandma was
that she had never traveled beyond the twenty blocks that made up El Barrio and that made her
nervous and uncomfortable about going to the museum. Throughout the book Velasquez s grandma
would ask him to read signs and translate english for her. Although it doesn t directly say, I believe
that Velasquez s grandma never learned to speak english or knew very little

Of these trauma survivors up to 20% develop PTSD. Put another way, approximately 13 million
Americans 5% of the population suffers from PTSD at any given time.(Goulston, 2008 ) Post
traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a type of anxiety disorder acquired when a person becomes a
victim of some form of trauma. Trauma can come in the form of experiencing natural disasters
such as hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, or floods. Personal traumas such as being robbed,
assaulted, raped, physically or sexually abused, or tortured can cause PTSD. Those who have
suffered extreme illness such as Cancer and AIDS may experience it. And even those who have
watched their loved ones suffer through extreme illnesses can succumb to the disorder. They
suffer what is called a secondary trauma. It has even been recently discovered that someone
viewing media coverage of a traumatic event can even get PTSD. There were people viewing
the live coverage of the 9/11 attacks in 2001, that triggered the same types of emotional and
physical responses as if they were physically at Ground Zero! Naturally, those who have served in
the military especially those who have survived wars and gone to combat, are highly at risk for
PTSD. So what exactly is a trauma? When we think of the word trauma we often think of something
horrendous, something horrible or really, really bad. But what actually constitutes something as a
trauma and not just a normal everyday

current underboss took over. The then Montreal Mafia Boss Vincent Contrini, spoke of involving
the idea of drugtrafficking into the Bonanno business. Along with many other bosses, that may or

The New York Times And The Next Immigration Challenge
Reducing the issue of xenophobia, the fear of foreigners or strangers, is not a simple task. Two
ways today s society is attempting to reduce xenophobia is through satirical representations, such as
the animated show Futurama, and through non satirical ways like serious articles in magazines like
The New York Times. Both representations attempt to bring awareness to serious issues faced by
Americans today, but both use completely different methods to get their point across. Dowell
Myers article in the New York Times, The Next Immigration
Challenge, observes the assimilation of
Mexican immigrants into the U.S. and the problems faced by these immigrants in the way of
skeptical Americans and uncooperative government policies. He examines the different ways that
immigrants have and continue to contribute to society, and how current government policies hinder
more successful strides in the future. The Futurama episode Decision 3012 follows the presidential
election of the year 3012, as one candidate, Richard Nixons head, starts a rumor that another
candidate was not born on earth and is an alien. After learning that the candidate s, Senator Chris
Travers, middle name sounds foreign, voters become outraged and demand to see his Earth
certificate to prove he isn t an alien. The episode then follows the main characters as they attempt
to find Travers Earth certificate to prove he was born on earth and keep his name in the running for
president. While satirical

The On Balancing The Environment
Balancing the Environment Does the implementation of government policies in order to decrease
negative environmental effects violate individual rights? Immanuel Kant one of the most
recognized names in deontological theory proposed a theory that is based on determining if you
are using someone or something as a means or an end. In essence stating that in order for a
decision to be made one must take into account whether a person is being manipulated against
their consent or they are being foster towards an equally beneficial end (O Neill, 1993). One could
say it is everyone s duty to push the government to introduce policies to decrease negative
environmental impacts in order to sustain a healthy and inhabitable environment for the future. Yet
this raises the question, how does one determine this is their duty and is this being forced against
one s will with no substantial benefit? While others may argue that to protect the planet is the duty
of all people. The term deontology comes from the Greek word deon, meaning duty. The theory of
deontology states we are morally obligated to act in accordance with a certain set of principles and
rules regardless of outcome (Shakil, n.a). Immanuel Kantexpanded on this theory and introduced
what has come to be known as Kantian Deontology. Kantian Deontology proposes, no one rational
or autonomous creature should be treated as mere means for the enjoyment or even the happiness
of another. (O Neil, 1993). Therefore, no person

  • 2. Nt1330 Unit 6 Lab 1 Goal The objectives of this lab were to install essential services such as Active Directory, Dynamic Host Configuration Service, Domain Name Service and Network Time Service on a Windows Server Platform. I used windows server 2016 technical review version 3 and successfully installed all the mentioned services on it. In this lab we used all services on windows as primary and I configured the services on Linux as secondary services. Security Consideration One of the important part of system administration should be secure, so it is very important to understand which factors can affect security inside and outside our system. There are many key decisions that have to be made, for example, what server operating system should a system use to which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We need to have a secure services and network and also it must be available sometime up to 24/7 /365. To make sure that we are close to our Service level agreement (SLA) with our clients, we must check our performance to find the bottleneck. After identifying our bottlenecks we can plan and see what changes can improve our performance. To measure the performance I used Opsview monitoring solution to monitor both DNS and DHCP on Linux and Windows server. Some sample tools like ping, nslookup and traceroute can be used in Windows and Linux to measure the basic metrics for DNS and DHCP. TO have a real data we need to test inside a real network or with some means generate the amount of traffic near the real traffic to find our network and services bottlenecks. For DNS we need also to test how long it takes authoritative DNS servers to respond to a request for your domain or host, including the Domain, the TLD, and the Root DNS server response times. This test provides us with information to help identify possible DNS hosting performance delays resolving our domain. It can be useful when evaluating the DNS performance of hosting providers, and general troubleshooting performance of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Comparison of Christian Symbols in Song of Solomon,... Although religion does not exist as a central theme in Toni Morrison s work, it does set premise for a richly intertwined web of symbolism. Morrison s novels focus on the lives of characters acting in the present day or recent past. For African Americans, events of the past are a crucial facet of culture as they seek to remember their history, the most influential of these events reaching far back into the years of slavery. Historians argue that for incoming slaves, Christianity offered a religious ground for the displaced individual, a soil in which to replant the symbolsof their native spirituality. In interviews and articles regarding her works, Morrison seems to take on a tone of rejection towards the idea that the civilization of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Africans are certainly spiritual in their worship, but why doesn t anyone refer to their native cult as African Religion? Catholic rituals are obviously religious, but does one have to be spiritual to participate? These example are clearly overly generalized, but the true matter of principle lies in the fact that we do refer to African religion as African Spirituality and other denominational rituals can in fact become far too routine. Morrison s texts recognize the relationship between religion and spirituality and attempt to address the critical issue of African Americans embracing Christianity, the religion of the slaveholders (28). The point has to be addressed as to whether Morrison s references to Christian belief and symbolism are purposeful or unconscious. Because she is writing with the motive to prove a point regarding the struggles of African Americans, clearly some references (like for example her character s names) are direct and premeditated. However, as Morrison herself claims to have read the Bible and made it an active part of her life (Unspeakable 32), fragments of Christian dogma filter through into her writing almost unconsciously. This autobiographical interlay of Christian symbols gives Morrison freedom to express her ideas more directly through personal insight. Evidence in support of these hypotheses is found throughout Morrison s literary cannon. Four novels most worthy of discussion are Song of Solomon, Sula, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Disneyland Informative Speech Anna O Malley Jasmine Austin Public Speaking 10/21/14 Informative Outline Example Disney Hidden Secrets General Purpose: To inform Specific Purpose: By the end of my speech, the audience will be able to identify three hidden secrets they probably did not know about Disneyland and also some history on the amusement park. Central Idea: The happiest place on earth has a few interesting facts that most people don t know about. Organizational Method: Informative Introduction: Disneyland, opening in 1955, has become one of the happiest places on earth. With having close family in California, and growing up there practically, I have been able to experience Disneyland well over at least 15 times. I got to thinking about all the great stuff ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Signpost: Things became more creative. Secrets and hidden messages began to be seen around the park. Only if you looked closely though. 11. Hidden Mickeys of Disney are one of the best scavenger hunts at Disneyland or Disneyworld. A. A hidden mickey is an image of Mickey Mouse concealed in the design of a Disney attraction (rides, decoration, resort, etc.) In designing, constructing or adding the final touches to an attraction, Imagineers subtly hide: Mickey Mouse silhouettes. Disney fans have to find these hidden mickeys and it s a fun scavenger hunt for all. B. Hidden Mickeys can be hard to find and you don t want to mix them up with Mickeys that aren t actually hidden mickeys. 1. First, any Mickey that seems large and very intricate, such as a formation of a cave, is probably not an honest to god hidden mickey. 2. Second, a Mickey should be proportioned correctly. If the ears are too small or too close together, like the padlocks in all the parks, or if each circle is a different size and not in perspective, it is most likely not a hidden mickey. 3. Lastly, a true hidden mickey should not have to rely too much on imagination, such as the Matterhorn Mickey. If you must squint your eyes, tilt your head, and have a certain amount of lighting at a certain angle, it s probably not a Mickey. A mickey might be upside down or sideways, but when pointed out, should be relatively clear. Signpost: Now that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What the Roman poet Horace was saying was that when there is an obstacle in our way, our true colors will radiate. I could not agree more. When we as human beings feel passionate about achieving a goal, we may learn something new of ourselves, maybe a new trait that we did not know we possessed, when we reach new heights we did not know we could push ourselves towards. Challenges are similar to tests. Challenges are faced every day, but how we respond to them determines how strong we really are. Prime examples are superheroes and students that move dramatically. His or her enemy, or adversity, will be a number of things, mainly revolving around worry. They may worry about if people there will like them, or want to be friends with them, whether or not they will fit in; things of that nature. If that student encompasses themselves in a fortress of solitude then that would show that they are not a very strong or confident person. In turn, someone will notice this and possibly, out of pity, approach them and realize that they are comfortable and they stick around with them to be polite. However, if that student is the opposite, then maybe they will try out for a team and show off their skills or lack of and the other students will see him or her and praise them for being so assertive and hopefully befriend the new kid after proving that they are very outgoing and easy to get along with. When something is in your way, how you respond to the situation makes you, you. If you have never been put in an uncomfortable position then you will not necessarily know how you would respond, so you do not know that side of yourself. Roman could not have said it any better. Adversity does in fact awaken undeveloped or inactive capacities. To fully understand how you would act under harsh conditions you have to be placed in that situation. The boys decided to mop the kitchen, which they probably didn t know how to do. We got to work, two girls opening boxes, two more opening cartons, and another girl and myself were emptying the cartons into the sink. It wasn t really that bad, only a faint smell of something bad, I thought we got the easy job. That is until we kept working. Unloading box after box the smell grew stronger. By the time I was coming back in all the girls in my group had finished their break and came back in to help, but I was all done. I mopped up the ground and the room lightened. For the next ten days, Jews will be introspective, and look critically at ourselves hoping to improve ourselves. Jews believe in the concept of Tikkun Olam, which translates loosely to repairing the world; we believe humans have an obligation outside of ourselves, to the planet and to other people. As my Rabbi sermonized, there are people suffering across the globe, and whatever we can do, we must do, to alleviate suffering. However, this idea is not only a religious one for me. My family worked for civil rights during the turbulent 1960s. My parents worked with the Fair Housing Council of Los Angeles to desegregate our white neighborhood. And, after the city of Watts was decimated by riots in 1965, my parents volunteered at, and my sisters and I attended, a Head Start program there. This was a literacy pre school program, free for any child, which was largely populated by minorities, and my parents felt there should be Caucasian representation as well. The United States has long had the reputation of using its military forces for good, such as during World War II when American soldiers helped to defeat Hitler s Nazism. • 14. Rachel Ruysch Research Paper What would you consider today s most desired status symbols? A mansion or a beach side home? A designer handbag or clothes? In Rachel Ruysch s day it was a simple tulip. Looking at her floral still life paintings can reveal an entire hidden world. Rachel Ruysch was born in 1664 in the northern Netherlands. She was born into a wealthy and prominent family; her father a scientist and her mother the daughter of an architect. Her father was a professor of anatomy and botany and also an amateur painter. From a young age Ruysch would draw and paint the insects and plants in her fathers collection. At age fifteen, she was an apprentice to William van Aeist, who was a prominent flowerpainter in Amsterdam at the time and she studied with him until... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Netherlands became the largest importers of new and exotic plants and flowers from around the world (Robinson). Once valued primarily for their use as herbs or medicine, flowers became newly appreciated simply for their beauty and fragrance. They became prized luxuries and desirable status symbols for the wealthy. Botanists and gardeners sought the rarest specimens imported from overseas trade and the tulip was the most exotic. Flowers In a Vase was a paintingthat Ruysch painted after 1700. This composition balances a swirl of twisting blossoms along a diagonal axis (Chadwick 138). The variety of blooms and colors, and the painter s subtle touch and impeccable surface treatment distinguish her work (Chadwick 138). Flowers lavishly spill out of the vase, filling the entire picture space. Some are in full bloom, others droop and wilt, as leaves and curving stems entwine throughout (Robinson). The lighting in this painting falls on the flowers from the bottoms left to top right, leaving the closed peonies at the edge in shadow. Complementary colors create harmony, as warm yellows and rose balance cool blues and greens. Against the dark background, her sophisticated palette creates a flawless sense of depth and three dimensionality (Wieseman). • 15. Timmy The Train After reading the story it is easy to see that forecasting demand is difficult in the toy industry. Particularly with toys that depend on trends and have limited marketability. The expert commentator M. Eric Johnson mentions, Santa needs to stop reacting to fads and start creating them. (McNulty, 2014) Just because the singer said Meowrrr was so yesterday does not take into account the kids who don t follow fads, nor does it take into account regional saturation of this singer s popularity. Market analysis may show that the product may be more popular and sustainable in another region. Stopping production on Meowrrr completely without up to date market knowledge could be just as costly as producing too much. While on the flip side, not producing enough Timmy the Train toys and CDs could also be detrimental. I do appreciate the helpful advice from Anne Omrod, Timmy the Train is a stable seller so producing the remaining available lot quickly would be to Santa s benefit. As they grow up, however, they begin to solidify legitimate professions to support themselves and be happy. Growing up, I knew for a fact that I wanted to be a detective. The idea of solving real cases with real people and interviewing suspects gave me a rush like no other. Helping people has always been a goal of mine. From being a detective, I have also contemplated being a dental hygienist, cosmetologist (like my mother), and even a history teacher. The variety of occupations in the world are almost never ending; there are even jobs that no one has really even thought about. Even though I occasionally change my mind, I have decided to give up my childhood dream of becoming a detective to become a registered nurse (RN). The nursing profession has continued to thrive over time. Because I have seen how often nurses get overlooked, I want to be a part of a profession that knows its worth, learns more than just education, and is beneficial to society. Although they are the unsung heroes of hospitals, schools, and even the military, nurses are essential to communities around the world, and I look forward to entering this profession. The romantic era had flourished and passed, impressionistic music was well into its lifespan, but arising from amid the rubble of the romantic era was the Verismo movement! Verismo was a movement or new school of thought embodied in the operas of composers like Pietro Mascagni, Ruggero Leoncavallo, Umberto Giordani, Giacomo Puccini. Verismo is virtually synonymous with realism. It was an attempt made by composers to inject into opera, the real life pains and experiences that so easily worked their way into drama, poetry and the spoken arts, but seemed to fall short when it came to opera. The young man, Turiddu is furious and takes revenge by beginning a seductive relationship with another village girl to make his finacee jealous. His plot is successful, and the rage of jealousy begins when Turiddu once again lies with his true love in a now adulterous relationship. The story develops into a tangled web of passion, lust, revenge and hate. The whole town is enraged and look on with curiousity as the unruly secrets are discovered. The plot comes to a climax when Turiddu, is challenged to a duel by his lover s husband. Pollen grains, being one of the most important factors of the flower s ability to reproduce, need all these factors as well to become viable. It can be concluded that the flower treated with red light wavelength of 620 to 750 nm had similar mean lengths of pollen tube elongation as the positive influence of flashlight treated flower with a production of all wavelengths. Contrastingly the blue wavelength of 450 to 495 nm had a smaller mean tube length compared to both flashlight and red light while still being longer than the negative influence of sunlight. Analysis: In order to determine the correlation of the pollen tube length means collected from all four groups of data, a one way ANOVA test was performed. The results only showed a significant difference towards red and blue treated pollen with a p value of P=7.79E 08 (one way ANOVA). Based on this data, the red illuminated flower produced longer pollen tubes, and since the means can be considered unequal from one way ANOVA and there is a significant difference between red and blue tube lengths, our hypothesis is supported that a higher wavelength of light is beneficial for flower reproduction enhancing pollen tube ... In 1977, both the republicans and democrats provided main targets that each party wanted to be addressed. Pete Rose was a player that I looked up to when I was a young boy playing baseball. I was a big fan of his collecting all of his baseball cards from rookie year up to the present time. Now, most of the baseballcritics and others do not want Pete Rose inducted. They claim that his illegal betting on baseball games should keep him out of the Hall of Fame. These former friends of Rose are Tommy Gioiosa, Donald Stenger, Mike Fry, and Paul Janszen. This evidence is what prompted the banishment from baseball of Pete Rose, which he signed. The evidence was enough for the Commissioner. In 1989, baseball s Commissioner Bart Giammati suspended Pete Rose from association with professional baseball for life for gambling. Rose also spent five months in a minimum security prison for tax evasion in 1990. He did not report cash money he accepted for signing baseballs and photographs at baseball card shows. He believes that men were born and educated like citizens. He also believes that the only way of arriving at a right conclusion about the possession and use of women and children is to follow the path on which we originally started, when we said that the men were to be the guardians and watchdogs of the herd. Plato also stated that the birth and education of women to be subject to similar or nearly similar regulations. Then you shall see whether the result is in accordance with the male design. Plato then states the question are dogs divided into hes and shes, or do they both share equally in hunting and in keeping watch and in the other duties of dogs? • 38. The Edict Of Milan Analysis The Edict of Milan was Constantine s way of wanting to end the Roman persecution of Christians. Both Constantine and Licinius Augustus established this new law in 314 CE. This law is what later became known as the Edict of Milan. The consequences that it had for the relationship between Christians and Jews in the Roman Empirewas that most of the Christians were pleased with the edict. It had meant an end to the persecutions that most had suffered from time to time, and a new access to power and influence. Others had seen reason to be concerned, because the edict had only mentioned Christians. The laws that came afterward impacted the Jews, for it had limited their rights as citizens of the Roman Empire. St. John Chrysostom represented both old and new forms of Christian thinking about Jews and Christians by his courage in criticizing the rich and powerful and his compassion for the poor, and in his sermons he challenged injustice and denounced the comfortable arrogance of the wealthy. He had used his skill as an orator to attack the openness of many Christians to Jewish practices and faith, which to Chrysostom meant a weakening of specifically Christian identity. As evidentialism is a thesis about epistemic justification, it is a thesis about what it takes for one to believe justifiably, or reasonably, in the sense thought to be necessary for knowledge (Mittag). Now what does that mean in order for someone to believe in something, they must see the real proof have hardcore evidence. One famous argument about evidentialism is by William Kingdon Clifford, (born May 4, 1845, Exeter, Devon, England died March 3, 1879, Madeira Islands, Portugal) British philosopher and mathematician. Although he was most famous for his work as a mathematician, Clifford also wrote, The locus classicus for the ethics of belief debate is, unsurprisingly, the essay that christened it. The story is about a ship captain who has doubts that his ship is in perfect condition to sail, the ship was in desperate need of many repairs, regardless of what the crew was telling him, he believes that his doubts are silly since there is no evidence that states that the ship is unworthy.
