Critical design elements for high power density data centersInternap
When it comes to high-power density data centers, all are not created equal. As organizations increasingly focus on heavy-duty, transactional workloads like big data analytics, they’re seeking space that can support upwards of 17kW per rack. Delivering these super high-power densities while ensuring tolerable working conditions requires careful planning and significant attention to air flow management, temperature control and electricity.
Can your data center handle demand for more infrastructure over the next 12-18 months?
Before settling on a data center provider, make sure you know how to analyze your top data center needs.
In general, data can be broken into two categories – data in motion vs data at rest. Learn the difference between these two types of data and the best infrastructure options to get optimal performance.

Top 5 Mistakes You Don’t Want to Make When Moving to the CloudInternap
The cloud is becoming an increasingly viable infrastructure deployment option, but is it the right choice for all of your applications? What differences in cloud offerings do you need to be aware of before you take the plunge? Learn the key considerations and success criteria for cloud adoption.
Across IT organizations, there is strong interest in deploying applications in a cloud environment to achieve increased business flexibility and cost savings. However, common cloud computing solutions can introduce unexpected costs when IT departments focus their performance related concerns on intra-cloud performance and reliability when constructing their cloud models, rather than the issues of performance and reliability of the overall application and content delivery chain from the cloud environment to the end-user. This is a serious miscalculation for two reasons. First, the cloud computing provider's choice of network carrier shouldn't penalize the cloud user when network performance is degraded. Second, end users have proven that they will abandon applications and websites based on the smallest performance delays or downtime, jeopardizing the perceived value of the cloud initiative. In this session, Internap will discuss why end-user requirements or demands must take precedence in assessments of cloud computing environments and their usage for any application deployment that is business critical, or crucial to the organization’s revenue model, and outline how to achieve this with a “total systems” approach.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
