What Is A Clone?
What Is Cloning?
What is The Main Process?
What Is good or not So Good about Cloning?
Clones are organisms that are exact genetic copies. Every single bit of
their DNA is identical.
So…What is a clone?
Which process involve natural “Clones”?
What is cloning?
The term cloning describes a number of
different processes that can be used to produce
genetically identical copies of a biological
entity.
The copied material, which has the same
genetic makeup as the original, is referred to as
a clone.
Researchers have cloned a wide range of
biological materials, including genes, cells,
tissues and even entire organisms, such as a
sheep.
How was dolly made?
There are three different types of artificial cloning:
gene cloning, reproductive cloning and therapeutic
cloning.
• Gene cloning produces copies of genes or
segments of DNA.
• Reproductive cloning produces copies of whole
animals (Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer, The
Roslin Technique, The Honolulu Technique).
• Therapeutic cloning produces embryonic stem
cells for experiments aimed at creating tissues to
replace injured or diseased tissues (Induced
pluripotent stem cell).
What is cloned DNA used for?
• Work out the function of the gene
• Investigate a gene’s characteristics (size, expression, tissue distribution)
• Look at how mutations may affect a gene’s function
• Make large concentrations of the protein coded for by the gene
What is Reproductive cloning and Therapeutic Cloning used for?
• Cloning animal models of disease
• Making stem cells
• Copies of animals with desirable traits
• Bringing back endangered/ Extinct species
Would You Clone your Dog?
So What Is The Problem With Cloning?
Moral, Ethical Dilemmas
Shorter Life Spams
High Risk, Low Success.
Are you for Cloning?
Are you Against Cloning?
Are you Neutral about It?
