This document outlines the procedures and expectations for students in a computer lab classroom. It details arrival and dismissal procedures, classroom rules regarding behavior, computer and internet use, safety guidelines, and copyright policies. Consequences for misbehavior are also explained, with the goal of creating an orderly, efficient and safe learning environment for all students.

Classroom rules, routine and procedures for grade 1 at Dora Moore School. Shows what is expected of children. More content will be added as he year goes on. Some examples are: pencil rules, hallway rules, eraser rules, crayon rules, how we sit in line, how we stand and walk in line.
Feel free to copy and use for your own classroom! No credit is needed. These rules can be modified/edited to fit your classroom/school/district's needs. I will be releasing more PowerPoints for educators, if you have any requests, comment down below what you would like to see.
2. WELCOME
● We’re going to have a Wonderful year together.
● Have Positive Expectations!
● The Procedures we learn today will help us
create a Highly Efficient and Orderly Classroom.
3. Why Procedures?
● Without procedures, students do not know
what is expected of them.
● Procedures facilitate efficiency.
● Human Nature is to have procedures.
5. Arrival to Class
● When you arrive at our class, I will greet you
in the hallway.
● When you enter the classroom please be
seated at your assigned computer terminal.
● Prepare yourself for the class.
6. Personal Items
● Store your books and personal items on the
shelves provided as you come into the lab.
● There is not enough space next to the
computers for these materials.
7. When Class Begins (Bell)
● The bell ringing is a procedure to tell you that
it is time to begin class.
● At the bell, you are to begin your warm-up
exercise. Your warm-up exercise will be
written on the board or on Blackboard
each day.
● There should be no talking or moving about
during warm-up exercise.
8. General Classroom Expectations
● Respect others personal space including not
touching others.
● Be respectful of everyone and everything.
● Stand and Deliver using Proper Grammar.
● Do not surf the Internet unless you are instructed
to do so.
● Allow others to finish speaking before you start
speaking.
9. Expectations During Instruction
● Please give the teacher your full attention.
● Do not talk while the teacher is talking.
● Please wait to be recognized by the teacher
before you begin speaking.
● Do not start assignments until the teacher
gives you the signal to begin.
10. Prompts
● If I raise my hand, you are to stop talking,
face me, and also raise your hand until
everyone in the classroom has stopped
talking and I lower my hand.
NO EXCEPTIONS
11. Discipline Policy
● 1st Offense: Student is removed from computer for the rest of
the class period and will work at a table. 1st call to parents
● 2nd Offense: Student is assigned to lunch hour detention. 2nd
call to parents. A parent conference may be scheduled.
● 3rd Offense: Student is referred to the principal for disciplinary
action. Student has no more computer lab privileges. (This will
also apply to an extreme 1st or 2nd offense.)
● Students are responsible for repair or replacement of
deliberately damaged equipment!
12. Hall Passes
● Each student is allowed the use of four (4)
hall passes per semester for either the
restroom or water fountain.
● Passes may not be used during tests or
critical instructional times as deemed by the
teacher.
● Passes to the Nurse’s Office are given on a
SERIOUS emergency basis only.
13. End of Class Dismissal
● I will inform you when it is time for class
dismissal.
● Upon dismissal, you should save your work
in the designated folder.
● I will then give you permission to leave
the classroom.
14. Students are NOT permitted to:
● Change the desktop in any way.
● Change the screensaver.
● Delete, move, or rename any files.
● Install software downloaded from the Internet or any
other source. (NO OUTSIDE USB DRIVES)
● Open or access personal email accounts.
● Install or open chat programs
● Use of any computer games without teacher
permission.
15. School Rules and Policies
● All school rules as outlined in your student
handbook will be enforced.
● Attendance policy will be as defined in your
student handbook.
16. This Computer Lab is a Classroom.
You are here to work and learn the proper use of
the computer and its applications.
You are not here to play.You are not to go on the Internet
without permission!
If you use the computer for any other purpose,
it will be considered computer misuse.
17. Safety
Use good posture while sitting at the computer.
•Eyes level with the monitor
•Shoulders down, arms relaxed
•Feet flat on the floor
•Back supported
19. Music, movies and software
are copyrighted.
You buy the right to use
the disc, but you do not own
the product.
It is illegal to copy CDs if you
have not purchased the license
to do so.
21. When information is acquired from a website, the
website author and Internet address of the site must
be “cited” in a bibliography, works cited slide, etc.
Example:
"Mickey Mouse." Britannica Student Encyclopedia.

22. Stay Safe While you Surf…
> Never reveal personal information about yourself
(name, address, age, phone number).
> Never give anyone your Social Security number, credit
card numbers, or your parents’ names.>
> Never arrange to meet someone face-to-face youhave
only met online.
> Don’t share photos of yourself with someone you have
only met online.
> Don’t share passwords with anyone except your
parents and teachers.
