Gillette Case
On October 1, 2005, P G acquisition of The Gillette Company. Under the purchase agreement, the
total purchase was approximately $53.4 billion including common stock, the fair value of
vested stock options and acquisition costs. The Gillette oral care, batteries and personal care
businesses were subsumed within the Health Care, Fabric Care and Home Care, and Beauty
reportable segments, respectively. The deal is a bold move by P G Chief Executive A.G.
Lafley, who has led the company out of dark times in the past. Moving too fast on a restructuring
plan implemented by former CEO Jager, the company posted several disappointing quarters and
its stock lost more than half its value in 2000. The merger, would create a larger company with
revenues of more than $60 billion that would have even greater clout against mass market
retailers like Wal Mart, which have been pressuring consumer product suppliers to keep costs
low. Lafley was optimistic that the company would not be forced to divest many properties as
part of an antitrust review. Strengths Lafley, and later Taylor, began recalibrating the company s
strategy in China. P G had entered early, in 1988. But it underestimated the growth of Chinas
upper class, focusing instead on the lower to middle class market. Its diapers, for example,
proved vulnerable to higher end offerings from Japanese competitors; P Gs market share has
fallen nearly five percentage points since 2010, to 37%, according to Euromonitor Citi
Research. Explained Taylor at a recent conference: we looked at it too much like a developing
market as opposed to the most discerning customers in the world is now trying to move
upmarket in China. P G has also shifted more resources back to North America, where it has a
more dominant share. And it has become leaner and less bureaucratic, in part through huge job
cuts 35,000 by the end of 2016. P G has slashed product categories from 15 to 10 to improve
focus. Says Jon Moeller, its longtime CFO: the businesses we are keeping are those where we
have a product technology that makes a consumer difference and, almost to a one, daily use items.

History of the Band Linkin Park Essay
Linkin Park is a new metal band from Los Angeles, California. It has been an active band since
1996. Their labels are Warner Brothers Records and Machine Shop Recordings. The six members
are Chester Bennington, Mike Shinoda, Joseph Hahn, Brad Delson, Rob Bourdon, and Dave
Farrell. Mike Shinoda and Brad Delson recorded the band s first material in 1996. The two had
attended high school together, where they met the band s drummer, Rob Bourdon. Mike Shinoda
hooked up with DJ Joseph Hahn while studying illustration at Art Center College in Pasadena.
Meanwhile, attending UCLA, Brad Delson shared an apartment with bassist Dave Farrell, who left
the band after college and returned a year later. At this point, they named themselves Xero and...

He also liked it because the name had no meaning, allowing the music to describe itself. However,
since the domain name lincolnpark.com was already taken and the band couldn t afford to purchase
it, they changed the spelling from Lincoln to Linkin so they could purchase the domain name
linkinpark.com . However, it has also been said that the name Linkin Park was suggested so that the
band would appear right next to Limp Bizkit at record stores. On October 24, 2000, Linkin Park s
debut album, Hybrid Theory, was released in the United States. The record s first single was One
Step Closer . Hybrid Theory eventually received 8x platinum. Hybrid Theory, unlike many other
metal band albums, does not contain any curses or swear words. This was because the band
thought that swear words take away attention from the music. They wanted something that the
public could listen to and enjoy over and over again. In early 2001, the band s second single,
Crawling , was released and won the band a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance in
2002. In mid 2001, the band released its third single, In the End . The song would prove to be the
band s biggest hits of 2001. In 2002, they released a remix album of their Hybrid Theory album,
called Reanimation. The next album released was Meteora. The album s first single, Somewhere I

The Translator s Dilemma Of A Translator Essay
Ages ago, Cicero summed up the translator s dilemma in the following words:
If I render word for word, the result will sound uncouth and if compelled by necessity I alter
anything in the order or wording, I shall seem to have departed from the function of a translator
(qtd. in Bassnett 43). Translation in the first place, is transference of meaning from the Source
Language (SL) to the Target Language (TL). But what matters is not a translation of words from
SL to TL, for exact equivalence of words of the former is hard to get in the latter. Translation is
both linguistic and cultural activity and it is concerned with communication of meaning. It is not
merely lexical equivalent of words of one language to that of another, but much more. Since each
word is charged with memory, associations and literary echoes, it is difficult to find full
equivalence of a SL word in another word in TL. That is why, total or full translation is a myth.
The translator has to make a balance between maintaining close fidelity to the original and utter
freedom it. Sri Aurobindo is in favour of taking liberty with the original. He states that a translator
is not necessarily bound to the original he chooses; he can make his own poem out of it, if he
likes, and that is what is generally done (2). Translation is neither transliteration nor transcreation
and it has to and it has to guard against the danger of word for word literal translation as well as
taking too much liberty. In the name

The Effects Of Autistic Children
Arsham and Ani are parents of an autistic child. Their son s name is Ara, he was diagnosed with
Autism at age 3. Ara had never developed speech, had severe focusing issues, and he had trouble
communicating. Speech therapy hadn t worked for Ara so when a mother of another Autistic child
recommended the GFCF diet Ani jumped at the chance. Within four months of starting the diet, Ara
had significantly improved. Ara was potty trained, had begun reading, speaking in sentences, and
communicating with other children. Autismis a developmental disorder. It impairs a person s

Not only can they help the digestive issues these diets lessen Autistic behaviors. Tailoring a
specially designed balanced diet with appropriate micronutrient supplementation may ameliorate the
severity of autism symptoms and related abnormal behaviors (Meguid, 2015, June 15). The
specific intake of the diets can cause considerable improvements in the child s life. If an Autistic
child can be placed on one of the diets it can prevent digestive issues and reduce Autistic symptoms.
Gluten free, Casein free, Soy free Diet
The gluten free, casein free, soy free diet can improve Autistic children s lives. The GFCFSF is
known as the Autism Diet. It has helped many people with autism spectrum disorders improve their
health and functioning. ASD children usually limit their diet to a few things. Once children are the
diet, they expand their food to include more nutritional choices (Bortfeld, 2017, May 14). These
healthier choices improve the overall nourishment of the child. The nutritional selection also helps
with health issues the child may be suffering from. Research by Dr. Harumi Jyonouchi shows that
91% of people with ASD... who tried a GFCFSF diet reported improvements in GI symptoms and
some autistic behaviors (Bortfeld, 2017, May 14). The diet can have a positive affect

The Golden Gate Bridge Of San Francisco
Have you ever been asked the question, If you could go anywhere in the world, where would
you go? Well, I have always said San Francisco. San Francisco is one of the most beautiful places
in the world. They have the San Francisco Bay, Golden Gate Bridge, and many sport teams. To
begin with, The Golden Gate Bridge is one of many attractions in San Francisco. The bridge was
built in 1937 by Joseph Strauss and Charles Ellis. The bridge stretches 8,981 feet with a height
746 feet. The bridge is one of the best sights to see in America. And to finish off, the bridge is just
about unbreakable. Though the bridge is a good attraction, there is one thing in San Francisco that
attracts more people than anything else. The answer to that would

Gorilla, My Love Essay
Gorilla, My Love In the short story, Gorilla, My Love , author Toni Cade Bambara narrates a
story about the way children overanalyze little white lies. Bambara tells the story as if a child
was talking in first person view. Throughout the story Hazel talks about different instances of her
share of what she thought was being lied to. The read was very enjoyable because it was
something that I could relate to. For instance, when Hazel and her friend are at the movie theater
and she says, ...we yell some more and some kids slip under the rope and run up and down the
aisle just to show it take more than some dusty ole velvet rope to tie us down. (Bambara 450) As I

Although, Hazel is courageous enough to ...hide the money... (Bambara 450) from the ...big
boys... (Bambara 450) that take their money, she has fear as any other child would have.
Ultimately the age of the narrator helps establish this sense of betrayal to the reader. Hazel sits
in the navigator seat because she is afraid of ...sittin in the back with the pecans. (Bambara
449)In fact, she says that ...if you scary like me, you sleep with the lights on... (Bambara 449)
because like most kids being in the dark scares them. This helps elevate the thought that the
narrator is a young age because it shows child like behavior. There is a sense of rebellion
throughout the story that reminds the reader of what it s like to be a child. As a child I can
remember talking back, and when something didn t go my way I would pout and give (them)
some lip. (Bambara 450) Having this sense of rebellion makes it feel like you can do whatever
you want with no price to pay. However, this again shows the rebellious nature of Hazel helping the
reader realize she is a child. Even when Hazel talks to the manager of the movie theater she is
courageous enough to ...kick the door open...and sit down... (Bambara 451)and demand the
manager her money back. She even puts up an argument to get out of punishment with her parents
when she knows she has done something wrong. The connectivity between these two ideas help

Factors That Influences Blood Glucose Control
Abstract
Background: Diabetes is the most dangerous and common life long health condition which affects
mankind irrespective of age. Diabetes is a boon for the health care provider as it is a very
demanding and complex disease. It is very essential that this killer disease must be identified early
and significant treatment must be entitled to the patient as soon as it is detected. By creating a
good awareness of this disease and its manifestations, the increasing number of mortality and
morbidity of patients can be reduced around the globe.
Aims Objectives:
This thesis is aimed at identifying the major factors which influences blood glucose control, the
measures needed to control the upsurge of diabetes in the society ,preventive measures , precaution
steps and means of keeping diabetes under control.
вћўThe relevance of diet in glycaemic control and the factors which influences the change in
glycaemic level in a diabetic patient.
вћўThe means of estimating glycaemic levels, relevance of HbA1c and the screening process for
diabetes.
вћўCan blood glucose control prevent , delay or reverse Diabetes mellitus?
вћўDoes the degree of blood glucose control affect the development of complications equally in all
patients ?
Clinicians must be aware while treating DM patients of the main causative factors which can lead
to variations in the glycaemic levels and glucose monitoring. By identifying these factors a clinician

Case Study Of Blockbuster
Introduction of Blockbuster
Blockbuster is the largest movie rental retailer. With its opening in 1985, Blockbuster has pursued
an ambiguous program of growth and expansion. Currently, Blockbuster owns and operates over
9,000 stores both domestically and internationally. In addition, Blockbuster franchises about a
quarter of its stores. It is important to note that Blockbuster is undergoing a managerial struggle at
the present time. The current CEO, John Antioco, and a major shareholder, Carl Icahn, are disputing
Blockbuster s strategy. Mr. Antioco has threatened to resign if Mr. Icahn succeeds at attaining a
position on the Board of Directors1. Mr. Antioco believes that Blockbuster needs to develop new
strategy to respond to the current market ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It could package soundtracks with movies to increase revenue, or sell and advertise popular
soundtracks at the front of the store to increase sales. Admittedly, there are only a few soundtracks
that gain mass popularity with consumers, and perhaps a very limited inventory of soundtracks for
sale could be advantageous.
Diversification: Developing new products in new markets can be a riskier strategy given the
unproven market place. However, if innovation is a business value it may be worth the risk as long
as you understand what s at stake.
Introduce Visa cards: Blockbuster should unveil Visa cards that earn the user credit toward video
rentals and music purchases. This would be a very creative idea and it would also help them to
cater the European and Asian markets.
Other products: Further expansion and success in the international market can be achieved by
introducing new books on audiotape and soft drinks should be sold at Blockbuster.
Venturing: Venture into other music businesses through a joint venture for example Virgin Records.

Blockbuster is a generally perceived name in the feature rental business sector, being the first move

Mina Harker From Dracula
For centuries, women in England and the Americans were seen as objects. Women were looked at
as the weaker sex and as inferior (less than) to men. Men have always been perceived as the
stronger sex, having the superiority and power over women. Traditionally, men were the
authoritarians and the heads of the household. However, the roles for women have changed in both
America and England. As time progresses, women have gain control of their rights and attained
some genderequality in society such as working outside their homes and having an education. One
way of examining this change is in Gothic fiction by looking at how women have evolved
themselves from the patriarchal culture. Women were able to live their own lives and not in a men

Bitter And Sweet Quotes
He d do what he always did, find the sweet among the bitter (265). In the book the Hotel on the
Corner of Bitter and Sweet, the Panama Hotel is on the corner of Chinatown and Japantown. The
hotel is located between the two cultures Henry is tied to, the Japanese and the Chinese. The story
takes place in Henry s past when he first meets Keiko and the present, after his wife, Ethel, has
died. The hotel acts as the connection in between the two cultures and the two time periods, and
symbolizes how Henry does too. The hotel also acted as a placeholder that would be there for him
sometime in the future (252). In the beginning Henry thought, his own broken heart might be found

represents how Henry s relationship was left in the 50 s and then he tells Marty about it and
finds out that he is actually quite similar to his dad. The book also mentions that Henry s father
rarely acknowledged anything in the Japanese community in a positive light. This [the Panama

the literally common ground of the two cultures. Henry is the hotel in the way that he is both
part of Japantown because of his connection with Keiko and when he went to visit her and the
other Japanese in the camps. He also is part of Chinatown because that s where he lives and
where he is from. The book also described the hotel as, the colorful marquee that once lit up the
dark streets now was riddles with empty sockets and broken fixtures the once warm glow, a
reflection of how much hope Henry had had as a young boy, sat covered in decades of rust and
neglect (37). This shows how both the hotel and Henry lost their hope and

Southern Colonies Essay
Sports and games provided a much needed escape from the drear of everyday life. Recreation
was surprisingly unique in the Southern Colonies compared to the New England and Middle
Colonies because of a lack of restrictive religious groups. Though games were not as popular in
early settlements, because of lack of free time and distances between settlers, they became more
and more popular with increased wealth, larger populations, and a growth in towns. Games were
played to offer a relief from some of the grimness of daily life, to offer mating rituals, to express
resentment in a safe way, and to help promote village unity. Sports and games played a large role
in the daily lives of the southern colonists and continues to be seen today.

Persuasion In I Have A Dream Speech
Dreaming of Civility Well known and beloved by many, Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his
most famous speech, I Have a Dream, on August 28th of 1963 to a crowd full of African
Americans and supporters of civil rights. His speech was designed to persuade people to rise up
for justice, but also to love and to have hope for each other and the Civil Rights Movement instead
of engaging in the same hate that was directed at them, promoting a new way to advocate against
injustice. The effectiveness of King s persuasive technique is seen both in the past and present

Folklore In Fairy Tales
Folklore by definition is: traditional customs, tales, sayings, dances or art forms preserved among a
people. 2) an often unsupported notion, story or saying that is widely circulated (Merriam Webster
Dictionary www.merriamwebster.com/dictionary/folklore). We use folklore in our daily lives

Oral traditions and oral lore is passed down through generations, in poetry, tales, jokes, legends,

Understanding the Black Power Movement
IntroductionUnderstanding the Black Power Movement as it relates to the creation of Black or
African American study programs and departments is to recognize the efforts of radical student
activists on college campuses. The prevailing thought of the Black existence casted doubt on the
importance of Black/African studies at colleges and universities. Blacks, unfortunately, were
thought to not have a history, or at least one not worth examining, in the American existence and
even within world civilization. However, such as notion is baseless. In the tens of thousands of
years of civilization, Africans have witnessed and contributed to the productivity of the human
existence. The great salt and gold kingdoms of the Ghanaian and Malian Empires thrived long
before the Hapsburg and Bourbon dynasties rules Spain and France, respectively. Yet, the
contributions of those great African civilizations were often ignored in the historiography of early
civilizations. Even the contributions of the Ancient Egyptians have become part of the ensemble of
the Greek and Roman tragedy, removing Egypt from the history of Africa. The contributions of
Black Americans in the history of the United States were virtually absent prior to the creation of
Black Study programs and departments. The assumption of Black history was that it included the
300 plus years of enslavement, the Civil War (where student are indoctrinated to believe that
President Lincoln intended on freeing Blacks) and then the more

Comparing The Creation Stories Of Ancient Israelite Views...
Compare and contrast the creation stories in Enuma Elish and in Genesis. In particular, assess
what this comparative work tells us about ancient Israelite views of God and God s creative work.
Genesis 1, the first chapter in the bible, is easily the most well known creation story to come out
of the Ancient Near East. However, that does not mean that it was the only creation story to come
out of that period. The Babylonian epic, the Enuma Elish was one such story. It is in essence a
history of the Babylonian gods, and in particular, one god, Marduk. It was ultimately written to
justify his rise to power as the head of the Babylonian pantheon of gods. This was done in order
to support Babylon s claim to pre eminence above all the other cities in the country (Heidel 1963,
p. 14). Despite emerging from the same period, the two texts are starkly different. The former
portrays an all powerful, transcendent, monotheistic God, while the latter describes a polytheistic
hierarchy of gods who reach their ends through violence and conflict. The differences between the
Enuma Elish and Genesis 1 are so vast and endless that there is no real reason to discuss about
their literary dependence or mythological similarities (EOR, p. 2811). Rather, the Enuma Elish is
better enlisted as a tool of comparison in order to highlight the utterly different and radical nature of
the ancient Israelite religion as compared to the common religious beliefs circulating the Near East.

As the temperatures plummet, moisture absorption becomes a problem. If the tiles absorb moisture
and then freeze, cracking of the tiles can occur. The life expectancy of this type of material is
around 50 years.
Cost
Cost also plays a big role in determining the type of roof to be installed on the home. http:/

The Importance Of Return To The Army
Before you get in you must know your mission or you would be lost and stranded in this anarchy
place filled with chaos, destruction, and food. As soon as you get inside you must survey your

Organ Systems And The Nervous System Essay
The six main organ systems in the human body are the nervous system, cardiovascular system,
endocrine system, digestive system, skeletal system and the reproductive system.
Nervous System
There are two parts to the nervous system which are: the central nervous system and the peripheral
nervous system. The central nervous system includes the brain and spinal cord and some nerves,
whereas the peripheral nervous system includes all the other nerves and it carries information to the
central nervous system and also from it. The central nervous acts as the central control region of the
human nervous system. The CNS processes information and issues commands around the body.
The autonomic nervous system is the command network the CNS uses to maintain the body s
homeostasis. It regulates heartbeat and controls muscle contractions in the walls of blood vessels,
digestive, urinary, and reproductive tracts. It also carries messages that help stimulate glands to
secrete tears, mucus, and digestive enzymes.
Central nervous system
A response to a stimulus is coordinated by its central nervous system (CNS). The CNS consists of
the brain and the spinal cord. It gathers information about, and responds to, changes in the
environment. Receptors detect a stimulus and send impulses along sensory neurons to the CNS.
The CNS coordinates the information and sends impulses along motor neurons to the effectors,
which bring about a response.
The sequence of a response is:

Perpustakaan Negara and Pusat Sains Negara
Other than that, both the National Library, Perpustakaan Negara , and The National Science

of a traditional Malay men head gear called tengkolok songket which can be seen exteriorly.
Most of the public building as mentioned above used a traditional approach in it s design concept.
This indicated that part of the traditional influences is still being use locally in the progress of
forming the urban characteristic of Kuala Lumpur.
Other than all the mentioned buildings in previous pages, the other major components in
contributing urbanism in Malaysia is the old local shophouses which also had been the source of
economic growth and helps in the local urban development around 1970s.
In 20th century, three storey shophouses were built in Kuala Lumpur and had been quite popular in
comparison to other single and double storey shophouses in other places due to the high demand of
land values and urban progression to accommodate increasing capacity, also to provides enough

Foster Care Has Been A Forgotten, Ignored Topic, But It
Foster care has been a forgotten, ignored topic, but it is the reality for tons of children across the
world. This fact brings up the question, should every human be allowed to have children? On one
hand, some argue that it is a human s right and instinct to have children. On the contrary, others
argue that many people are incapable, too uninformed, and unstable to raise children, but it
certainly doesn t stop them from having them. This way of living is the primary source of why
more and more children are ending up in foster care, which fits this statistic that, There are more
than 400,000 children in foster care today, up from 270,000 in the early 1980s (Jost 1). All these
children are all coming from the same common factor, child... Show more content on

These couples will then provide a comfortable home, love, and care for eternity (Jost 2). This
image in many ways is false. Foster care children are often neglected and abused from former
residences, with heavy emotional trauma. Many times when children get adopted, they are put back
into repeating situation patterns of torment and pain. It seems that these children are traveling
down a fated road and have no directions on how to get back home. Where does this road start? To
sum it up, it starts with unplanned pregnancies, drug, and alcohol, homeless, abused and neglected
households which are the main linking factor for foster care children (Jost 20). It is appalling to
acknowledge that people like this are bringing children into the world to only provide them
instability and empty voids. Some may argue it is indeed a human s right to reproduce but is it
truly? What gives people the right to execute these actions, knowing only to corrupt their child?
Sadly, it s hard to justify human instincts or selfish desire. From Emerging, the author Francis
Fukuyama states that only human beings can formulate, debate, and modify abstract rules of justice
(152), meaning that humans can do as they please no matter the consequence because humans
consider themselves supreme and above. In an argument against this statement, can all humans fall
under this belief and consciousness? The people who treat children like animals, they

The Severity Of The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant
The severity of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (ChNPP) accident on the 26th April 1986, led
to the unforeseeable environmental and human health impacts over most of Europe. The extent of
these impacts, predominantly over Ukraine, Russia and Belarus, were later recognised by the
world as being the worst nuclear accident to occur of all time (Balonov and Bouville 2011;
Alexakhin et al. 2006; Saenko et al. 2011). The reactor explosion of unit four ChNPP, Ukraine, a
former member of the Soviet Union, was caused primarily by design errors and negligence of safety
procedures by staff operators (Frot, N.d. OECD NEA, 2000). As a result, caused a sudden power
surge and steam explosion that ruptured the reactor cap and fuel channels to implode, releasing
radioactive material and gases to the atmosphere (Frot, N.d.) The fire and explosion from ChNPP,
resulted in the release of large quantities of volatile radionuclides (Iodine131, Caesium134,
Caesium137, and Strontium90), noble gases (Xenon and Krypton), and fragmented fuel and debris
up to the atmosphere (United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation
2012). Consequently, the negative environmental and human health impacts associated from the
radioactive fallout required remedial actions, to re sustain the environment and human health, and
prevent further recontamination of the source pathways. For these reasons, this essay will delineate

Affirmative Action Summary
What is Affirmative Action? Affirmative Action, in this case, is when an educational institution
accepts an individual based on their race, to have diversity within that educational institution. For
example, if the University of Texas at Arlington had a low ratio of African Americans compared to
Caucasians, the university would most likely accept an African American student over a Caucasian,
just to be more diverse within the campus. The controversy of affirmative actionhas increased.
Should affirmative action be considered in the application process, when applying to an educational
institution?
In the article, Finally Getting it Right on Affirmative Action by Charles Krauthammer,
Krauthammer discusses various facts that lead to the consistent disagreement: Should universities
take race into their admission process, also known as, Affirmative Action. Krauthammer opens the
article by discussing a case in Michigan, where the Supreme Court banned affirmative action. The
state of Michigan held a referendum from discriminating against individuals based on race on any

The House Bill 248 bill was set into action because of animal extinction that is being caused by

Luck. If anyone had luck, it was Olaudah Equiano. Olaudah lived through slavery, shipwrecks,
and still wound up being a free educated author. He wrote a book that was the first of its kind and
affected many people in many ways. He used his life and mishaps to influence and help people.
There are many things to know about Olaudah: early life, travel, and the making of his legacy.
Olaudah was born in West Africa, in 1745, in the village of the Igbo tribe, where his father was the
chief. Recent scholars think that he might of been born in the New World instead of Africa
(Foner, page 130 ). When he was 11 he was kidnapped by slave traders along with some of his
family. At that point, he was forced into the Atlantic Slave Tradeand was considered a slave. He
was then sent to Barbados. Still traveling in the slave trade system, he went to Virginia (the
English colony where most of the tobacco was grown). From Virginia, Olaudah was sold to a
British sea captain. The British sea captain changed his name from Olaudah Equiano, to Gustavus
Vassa (one of the many names people gave him in his life). While Gustavus was with the sea
captain, he was enrolled in an English school where he learned how to read and write, which he
used greatly later on is his life. Also, with the sea captain, he started to travel the world.

Translation and Language Variants
Yer bum s oot the windae. Gonnae no dae that! If you don t know what this means and you are an
English speaker, what appears to be the problem? The problem is that the Scottish variation or
dialect of English is not the same as the American, the Irish, the British, the Australian, etc. In case
you were wondering, in American English, the phrase says, You re talking rubbish. I m not going
to do that! This is more than just a local dialect (Scotland had a number of those, too: Aberdonian,
Glaswegian, Edinburgh, Fife, Perthshire, Dundonian), this is an example of an entirely different
variation of English.
During your localization process, it is important to understand if you are working with a language
that has a significant linguistic variation within a major language. While most speakers of the local
variation can comprehend the main language, others may not understand them, and they would
know in an instant that the text was not written or addressed for them (one of the main purposes of
localization).
Consider another example. Suppose somebody asked you to pop your bonnet and let them check
out your dickie. In America, you might get punched in the nose for such language. In England,
this is simple car talk you might hear at the mechanic. You are supposed to open up the engine
compartment (pop the bonnet) and open up the rear compartment or trunk (check out your dickie),
likely to see if you have a spare tire or a car jack.

Why Was Pitt Able to Dominate Politics Between 1783 and 1793
Why was Pitt able to dominate politics between 1783 and 1793?
In the late 18th century, William Pitt managed to turn what looked like an unstable political
situation, the government being known as the Mince pie administration , into a period of
dominance for him and his supporters. So strong was his hold on politics at the time that he was
able to pass an India Bill in 1784, just two years after Fox s version of the bill had been rejected
and forced the Fox North coalition out of power. Pitt also had many successes financially, never
having trouble in passing his budgets between 1783 and 1993. So how did Pitt manage to gain
such a stronghold on British Politics in this key decade of British history? Even though by this
decade the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also had issues with his image, which was already in a state of ruins at the beginning of Pitt s
10 years of domination, being seen by many as hypocritical and power hungry due to his part in
the Fox North coalition. In a sense he carried too much baggage from the previous government.
The next 10 years did nothing to reverse this. Fox s associations with the Prince of Wales had a
detrimental effect on his viewing by the public and parliament. During the Mrs Fitzherbert
ordeal, the Prince lied to Fox, telling him that he had not married her. Fox then passed this
information on to parliament, telling the MPs what they had heard in the press was all untrue.
Unfortunately for Fox, soon after it became apparent that the Prince of Wales and Mrs
Fitzherbert had been secretly wed, making Fox either a liar or an idiot in the eyes of the people
and MPs. Another defining incident for Fox was a debate surrounding the regency crisis. Fox,
wishing for his friend, the Prince, to come into power, declared that he had no issue with the
Prince taking over. In doing this he unwhigged himself, effectively arguing the Tory position, as
well as seeming overtly opportunistic. The main issue with Fox and his party which caused Pitt to
have little trouble in parliament was the nature of their opposition. The Foxites opposed almost
every bill Pitt ever suggested. A year after Fox had

created culture diversity within. In order to understand the Cuban American culture you must

Soviet economic and military support was crucial for Cuba. Soviet movements often aroused
strong disagreement from the United States. In 1962 the Soviet Union installed nuclear missile
bases in Cuba, the world stood at the brink of nuclear war as the U.S. government set up a naval
blockade of the island and demanded they remove the missiles. This was known as The Cuban
missile crisis.
Cuban Soviet relations slowly deteriorated as Soviet political, economic, and social policies were
liberalized in the late 80s. The Cuban government refused to modify its approach to social and
economic policy. In 1991 the Soviet Union dissolved and withdrew its troops and its economic
support. The already troubled Cuban economy suffered further from the loss of vital military and
economic support. With severe shortages, unrest and dissatisfaction growing, Castro declared a
special period in peacetime of food rationing and energy conservation. Shortages of food, fuel, and
medical supplies were intensified by the ongoing U.S. trade embargo in Cuba.
Aware of China s success with a more capitalistic limited market, Castro decided to experiment
with capitalism. In 1993, he granted Cubans limited freedom to open small for profit businesses
and allow foreign tourism, including U.S dollars. But economic reform bred demand for political
reforms. In 2003, Castro jailed many members from the Varela Project. A group who petitioned for
political reform,

Types Of Decentralization
2.3.Types of Decentralization Decentralization belongs to many types, depending on the
characteristics, policy implications and condition for success. Political, administrative, fiscal and
market decentralization are the fundamental types of decentralization. There are different terms and
words for defining the types of decentralization and there may also have various ways to operate
them. However, the comprehensive approach is more vital than defining. It can be observed that
every country has its own type of functioning decentralization and each local department may have
unique combinations. 2.3.1.Political Decentralization Political decentralization involves the
transfer of decision making power and accountability to local levels. It often involves some form of
devolution the transfer of responsibilities to Local governments that have been granted significant
autonomy. In democratic Decentralization these local governments are accountable to local
populations through Elections and/or other means. In the context of international practice, the
political decentralization aims to give citizens or their elected representatives more power. It may
be associated with pluralistic politics and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It may also take the relatively modest form of de concentration in which officials at lower levels are
given more authority or discretion, but remain accountable totheir chiefs at the center.
Decentralization could also be combined with the devolution ofexecutive authority to local
governments. Delegation is the shifting of functions to semi orwholly independent organizations
outside the core government sector (for example toindependent authorities, or in privatization, to
private firms). The major forms of administrative decentralization are de concentration, devolution

Correlation Between Low Income And Violent Crime Rate Essay
The relationship between Crime and less fortunate people cannot underestimated; it may just be
the way the media has conditioned us to characterize what a criminal looks like and how they live
their lives. There are many low income cities and crime rates widespread across America. One may
say that people with low income have nothing to lose when they commit crimeor depressed or
desperate to the point that they will commit crimes for the profit of money. Even though crime is
committed at all walks of life, one can still pose a question to know if crime is more likely to be
committed by people with low income that those with high income.
Research Question

Church Ministry Essay
The history itself of the decree on the ministry and life of the priests is an extensive one and
difficult to summarize. The possibility of having just a disciplinary decree dealing with
practical matters of ministry and spiritual life was considered, but the conciliar fathers gradually
became more aware of the need to say something in regards to the priests, something comparable
to what the Council had said about the bishops and the laity. That is to say, the decree would
have to refer to the doctrine, but they realized this a bit too late to make major changes. The last
date for rejection of De Vita et Ministerio Sacerdotali was October 19, 1964, there was only one
more session of the council remaining at this time. In a little over a... Show more content on

Starting from Christ to the apostles, and from the apostles the bishops, at the request of 124 priests.
However, this was not sufficient and did not satisfy those loyal to other ways of understanding the
priesthood, especially the French school. In distributing the first amendment to the text of the first
draft of Presbyterorum ordinis, just after acceptance of the amended text as the textus recognitus,
the archbishop François Marty summarized the discrepancy of views: As to the specific nature of
the ministry and life of the presbyters. In this case, two conceptions have been expressed which
seem to differ at first sight. One of them insists more on the consecration of the priest worked by the
sacrament of Orders, and on the personal union of the priest with Christ, who is the source of
sanctity and spiritual effectiveness. The other conception, however, insists on the mission of the
priest, a mission which he receives from Christ through the sacrament: that is, the priest, since he
becomes an assistant to the Order of Bishops, acts in the person of Christ for the edification of
church. Fact is, both conceptions bring to light an aspect of great importance in the ministry and
life of the presbyters. Therefore, the commission will be careful to show how both conceptions
harmoniously combine and are in fact completed, so that they go together in the unity of the
priestly ministry. Nonconformities followed with the

Food Labeling Memo
The memo will be about the new rules for Food Labeling: Revision of the Nutrition and
Supplements Fact Labels. This new rule was a proposal, which was done according to the Food
and Drug Administration. I will have the memo broken into a few main points. The main points
will go over the main idea of the piece and go into the detail about each one. The first main idea of
the memo will be about going into detail in the decision of the Foodand Drug Administration to see
why they are making the changes to the rule. Next, I will go into how there are quite a few
organizations which are very affected because of the new rule change. Lastly, I will go into detail
about all the new things, the people, and organizations affected by these changes in the rule.
Point 1: The Food and Drug Admiration is making adjustments to the rule.
The administration proposed major alterations to the rule of company s labeling nutrients on the
back of foods and other nutrient supplement. The main goal of this is to let consumers know
everything they are putting into their bodies to promote more health in the country. The changes
included the format where the nutrients are labeled, required a special exception for products that
may not be reported on the nutrients label, and the overall reporting of nutrients. The Food and
Drug Administration is looking into what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the consumers best interest. The FDA is s hoping that this allows for the companies to include

  • 3. Gillette Case On October 1, 2005, P G acquisition of The Gillette Company. Under the purchase agreement, the total purchase was approximately $53.4 billion including common stock, the fair value of vested stock options and acquisition costs. The Gillette oral care, batteries and personal care businesses were subsumed within the Health Care, Fabric Care and Home Care, and Beauty reportable segments, respectively. The deal is a bold move by P G Chief Executive A.G. Lafley, who has led the company out of dark times in the past. Moving too fast on a restructuring plan implemented by former CEO Jager, the company posted several disappointing quarters and its stock lost more than half its value in 2000. The merger, would create a larger company with revenues of more than $60 billion that would have even greater clout against mass market retailers like Wal Mart, which have been pressuring consumer product suppliers to keep costs low. Lafley was optimistic that the company would not be forced to divest many properties as part of an antitrust review. Strengths Lafley, and later Taylor, began recalibrating the company s strategy in China. P G had entered early, in 1988. But it underestimated the growth of Chinas upper class, focusing instead on the lower to middle class market. Its diapers, for example, proved vulnerable to higher end offerings from Japanese competitors; P Gs market share has fallen nearly five percentage points since 2010, to 37%, according to Euromonitor Citi Research. Explained Taylor at a recent conference: we looked at it too much like a developing market as opposed to the most discerning customers in the world is now trying to move upmarket in China. P G has also shifted more resources back to North America, where it has a more dominant share. And it has become leaner and less bureaucratic, in part through huge job cuts 35,000 by the end of 2016. P G has slashed product categories from 15 to 10 to improve focus. Says Jon Moeller, its longtime CFO: the businesses we are keeping are those where we have a product technology that makes a consumer difference and, almost to a one, daily use items. • 5. The Translator s Dilemma Of A Translator Essay Ages ago, Cicero summed up the translator s dilemma in the following words: If I render word for word, the result will sound uncouth and if compelled by necessity I alter anything in the order or wording, I shall seem to have departed from the function of a translator (qtd. in Bassnett 43). Translation in the first place, is transference of meaning from the Source Language (SL) to the Target Language (TL). But what matters is not a translation of words from SL to TL, for exact equivalence of words of the former is hard to get in the latter. Translation is both linguistic and cultural activity and it is concerned with communication of meaning. It is not merely lexical equivalent of words of one language to that of another, but much more. Since each word is charged with memory, associations and literary echoes, it is difficult to find full equivalence of a SL word in another word in TL. That is why, total or full translation is a myth. The translator has to make a balance between maintaining close fidelity to the original and utter freedom it. Sri Aurobindo is in favour of taking liberty with the original. He states that a translator is not necessarily bound to the original he chooses; he can make his own poem out of it, if he likes, and that is what is generally done (2). Translation is neither transliteration nor transcreation and it has to and it has to guard against the danger of word for word literal translation as well as taking too much liberty. In the name ... Bambara tells the story as if a child was talking in first person view. Throughout the story Hazel talks about different instances of her share of what she thought was being lied to. The read was very enjoyable because it was something that I could relate to. For instance, when Hazel and her friend are at the movie theater and she says, ...we yell some more and some kids slip under the rope and run up and down the aisle just to show it take more than some dusty ole velvet rope to tie us down. In particular, assess what this comparative work tells us about ancient Israelite views of God and God s creative work. Genesis 1, the first chapter in the bible, is easily the most well known creation story to come out of the Ancient Near East. However, that does not mean that it was the only creation story to come out of that period. The Babylonian epic, the Enuma Elish was one such story. It is in essence a history of the Babylonian gods, and in particular, one god, Marduk. It was ultimately written to justify his rise to power as the head of the Babylonian pantheon of gods. This was done in order to support Babylon s claim to pre eminence above all the other cities in the country (Heidel 1963, p. 14). Despite emerging from the same period, the two texts are starkly different. The former portrays an all powerful, transcendent, monotheistic God, while the latter describes a polytheistic hierarchy of gods who reach their ends through violence and conflict. The differences between the Enuma Elish and Genesis 1 are so vast and endless that there is no real reason to discuss about their literary dependence or mythological similarities (EOR, p. 2811). Rather, the Enuma Elish is better enlisted as a tool of comparison in order to highlight the utterly different and radical nature of the ancient Israelite religion as compared to the common religious beliefs circulating the Near East. Organ Systems And The Nervous System Essay The six main organ systems in the human body are the nervous system, cardiovascular system, endocrine system, digestive system, skeletal system and the reproductive system. Nervous System There are two parts to the nervous system which are: the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system. The central nervous system includes the brain and spinal cord and some nerves, whereas the peripheral nervous system includes all the other nerves and it carries information to the central nervous system and also from it. The central nervous acts as the central control region of the human nervous system. The CNS processes information and issues commands around the body. The autonomic nervous system is the command network the CNS uses to maintain the body s homeostasis. It regulates heartbeat and controls muscle contractions in the walls of blood vessels, digestive, urinary, and reproductive tracts. It also carries messages that help stimulate glands to secrete tears, mucus, and digestive enzymes. Central nervous system A response to a stimulus is coordinated by its central nervous system (CNS). The CNS consists of the brain and the spinal cord. It gathers information about, and responds to, changes in the environment. Receptors detect a stimulus and send impulses along sensory neurons to the CNS. The CNS coordinates the information and sends impulses along motor neurons to the effectors, which bring about a response. The sequence of a response is: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This fact brings up the question, should every human be allowed to have children? On one hand, some argue that it is a human s right and instinct to have children. On the contrary, others argue that many people are incapable, too uninformed, and unstable to raise children, but it certainly doesn t stop them from having them. This way of living is the primary source of why more and more children are ending up in foster care, which fits this statistic that, There are more than 400,000 children in foster care today, up from 270,000 in the early 1980s (Jost 1). These couples will then provide a comfortable home, love, and care for eternity (Jost 2). This image in many ways is false. Foster care children are often neglected and abused from former residences, with heavy emotional trauma. Many times when children get adopted, they are put back into repeating situation patterns of torment and pain. It seems that these children are traveling down a fated road and have no directions on how to get back home. Where does this road start? To sum it up, it starts with unplanned pregnancies, drug, and alcohol, homeless, abused and neglected households which are the main linking factor for foster care children (Jost 20). It is appalling to acknowledge that people like this are bringing children into the world to only provide them instability and empty voids. Some may argue it is indeed a human s right to reproduce but is it truly? What gives people the right to execute these actions, knowing only to corrupt their child? Sadly, it s hard to justify human instincts or selfish desire. From Emerging, the author Francis Fukuyama states that only human beings can formulate, debate, and modify abstract rules of justice (152), meaning that humans can do as they please no matter the consequence because humans consider themselves supreme and above. The Severity Of The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant The severity of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (ChNPP) accident on the 26th April 1986, led to the unforeseeable environmental and human health impacts over most of Europe. The reactor explosion of unit four ChNPP, Ukraine, a former member of the Soviet Union, was caused primarily by design errors and negligence of safety procedures by staff operators (Frot, N.d.
