Cherokee Native American Indians and the Trail of Tears
Cherokee Native American Indians and the Trail of Tears
What made the Cherokee culture distinctive towards others in the Trail of Tears time period was
that they had a more peaceful, harmless outlook on the situation. In 1814, Andrew Jackson who
would eventually become the President of the United States, had his and his whole army s lives on
the line in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend to the British forces when the Cherokee allied with them to
win the battle. Surprisingly, 16 years later when Jackson was President of the United States, he
made the deciding decision on the controversy of whether or not the Cherokee deserved their land.
Jackson completed the Indian Removal Act in 1830, sending the Cherokee out of their own land
which they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were walking mostly through moist valleys and forests which provided some nutrition and
shelter. The weather was overall favorable for the Cherokee during the Trail of Tears. The rivers
were also helpful to the Cherokee as a source of food and basis for navigation.
Some may wonder why the Cherokee did not fight for their land. Historians suggest that the
Cherokee knew America was a more powerful force. They were also a peaceful tribe that didn t
wish to start a war, so they instead chose to go and find new land. Based on their belief system
they valued peace, not violence. This made the Cherokee distinctive to other tribes involved in the
Trail of Tears, because they peacefully left while the other tribes planned to fight until they realized
they had a small chance of winning a battle against Jackson and America. The Cherokee knew that
America was acting harsh and cruel towards them, but they didn t believe strongly in acts of
violence. The Cherokee would also communicate with Jackson occasionally (not often at all) about
their progress and health during their voyage. After their long, treacherous voyage, they reached
their new land where they had to resettle, and had to start all over again.
When the Cherokee resettled, they were a different group with no leaders; everybody became the
same during their voyage to new settlement. The Cherokee then became more civilized, and began

Correspondingly stating individual differences by applying idioms in the text, Adele s song
shows a new sense of confidence along with the aforementioned pain while contrastingly Motion
City Soundtrack s song reveals a tone that is longing. The lyrics in Rolling in the Deep say, See

he/she can walk away from the relationship. The idiom reveals as somewhat of a retribution and
gives off a tone that is apathetic. With this tone, it gives off a newfound feeling of confidence
the speaker has gained for the speaker is showing that he/she could do better without his/her past
lover. The figurative language not only helps explain the major difference from the longing My
Favorite Accident expresses but it also helps to add on to the theme that relationships do not
always work out and that could be for better or for worse. In contrast, My Favorite Accident
states, I can t swim in the silence of your skin skin please let me in. The idiom indicates the
speaker and the lover may not speak any longer and the speaker is desperate to speak to his/her
lover again. As mentioned before, the text reveals a tone that is longing. With the desperation that

Proposal For Implementing A Formal Mentoring Program Essay
MEMORANDUM
TO:Donald Lower, Partner; Barry Anderson, Partner; John Huber, Partner; Todd Whitlow, Partner
FROM:Brooke Vondal, Administrative Officer
DATE:
September 18, 2016
SUBJECT:Proposal to Implement a Formal Mentoring Program
Attached is the proposal to implement a mentoring program at Anderson, Lower, Whitlow P.C. In
early summer, ALW hired fifteen recently graduated individuals and 12 have already taken
positions at other firms. There needs to be a system in place to develop and foster relationships for
these individuals within the firm. This firm has a high turnover rate of new hires; currently, the
turnover rate is 85%. Firms that are considered the Big Four are offering mentoring programs that
make their employees invested in the company s future. Unfortunately, if ALW does not start to
compete with this issue, more employees will be lost to the Big Four Firms.
Implementing a strong mentoring program that fosters individual and personal growth within the
company is vital for the future of this firm. This includes setting up and maintaining a mentoring
program. The mentoring program will be set up with individuals from all levels of achievement,
that are willing to devote a portion of their time to the firm s prosperity.
Investing in the future of this firm, through a formal mentoring program is a vital step. I look
forward to working with you throughout this process. I can be reached at bvondal@alwpc.com or

Teaching Tenure, The Most Common One Is Job Protection Essay
While there are several reasons educators say they need tenure, the most common one is job
protection. This could possibly stem from the time before tenure when educators were fired for
any reason. Many like to point out that the time before was possibly one of the worst times to be
a teacher because of all the petty reasons one could have been fired. For example, if one was
from a different political party than the principal then said educator could be fired. Many female
educators like to point out how prior to 1886 they could have been fired for wearing pants and how
previous to coherent tenurelaws, pregnant women were required to take two unpaid years off of
work. Unfortunately many of the reasons cited for the terminating of teachers is being ineffective.
While the meaning of the word not producing an significant or desired effect seems black and
white there are many shades of gray in between when discussing tenure. One major question when
trying to determine effectiveness is how exactly it should be determined. While it seems easy for
schooldistricts to determine who is and is not effective in their schools, it is hard for them to do
so and stay within the law. Many laws protect teachers from being fired without a due process,
meaning that tenured educators about to be fired are entitled to a trial of their peers. This requires
several different lawyers, substantial evidence, and of course copious amounts of money. While
this is a hassle for school districts,

The Theory And Ethics Of Care
Virtue is habit or quality that allows an individual to succeed though a chosen purpose, with the use
of intelligible teleological that accounts to the meaning of human life; which is categorized by the
moral virtues and intellectual virtues. Virtue ethics is known as virtue theory; which is an approach
to ethicsthat emphasizes an individual s character element through ethical thinking rather than rules
about deontological or consequentialism. It is also said that virtuedoes not primarily identify
universal principles that can be applied to moral situations, but uses deontological and
consequentialist to identify principles. This theory shows that it is based on an individual rather
than actions issues; it does not only deal with the rightness or wrongness of individual actions, but
it provides guidance to sort characteristics and behaviors in the good of an individual who seeks to
achieve rather than fail. Virtual ethics was revived during the Twentieth Century and is composed
of three main directions; which are eudemonism, agent based theory and ethics of care.
Eudemonism is based on human flourishing of one s distinctive functions to do well. It is a
classical formulation of virtue ethicsthat shows proper goals of human life to be achieved by a life
time of practice in everyday activities and the use of wisdom to resolve conflict. Agent based theory
is the virtues that determine common sense intuitions about characteristic traits that are admirable

Civil Society Brewing Case Study
March 19th, 2016 forever changed the beer landscape for Jupiter, Florida. This was the first of what
will be many bottle and/or can releases for one of the newest breweries to grace the South Florida
horizon. A woman walking by asked me what the line was for. I proceeded to explain how Civil
Society Brewing was having their first bottle release which in this case was in the form a 32oz
crowler. 375 crowlers (3 per person) would, in fact, be released to fans who had come from as far
away as Miami. What is Pulp you ask? Well, it is an American pale wheat ale that comes in at
6.3% abv. Civil takes the wheat beer to a whole new level by lovingly caressing it with Columbus
and Mosaic hops which give it the sweet smell and taste of a myriad of citrus flavors. Pulp pours
with just the slightest of yellow haze... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We opened a growler of Tree House Brewing s Double Shot, a bottle of Hardywood Park Craft
Breweries Foolery, and a bottle of Casey Brewing s East Bank. By the time 11:00am had rolled
around the line had reached 67 craft beer loving souls. The doors were opened and ID s were
checked. The whole process ran very smooth. Folks waited in line for a few minutes until
reaching the front where they chose a wristband which was color coordinated with the number
of crowlers they were purchasing. Once the wristband was received we were able to purchase
something from the tap menu. Other than Pulp the two hits of the morning seemed to be the
two treatments of Gary. Gary is Civil s milk stout which was treated with Hazelnuts for Gary
goes nuts and with bananas foster for Gary goes bananas. I m usually not a big fan of hazelnut
beers, but Gary goes nuts was delicious. Gary goes bananas was also very good, but the hazelnut
took the win for me. The last crowler of Pulp was sold just before 2:00pm to finish off Civil s first
release with flying

The Change Into Pop Culture Through Media And Other Forms
Raunchy Liberation Raunchiness has worked its way into pop culture through media and other
forms. Which brings up the question: can raunchiness be empowering? Levy looks at how a
portion of women are raunchy, and she found that its use can be almost derading to some
women. This viewpoint is made obvious when she finishes her article with [i]t is worth asking
ourselves if this bawdy world of boobs and gams we have resurrected reflects how far we ve
come, or how far we have left to go (131). Yet, there are levels of raunchiness that I believe are
liberating for many groups of people, not only women. The feminist movement showed the world
that women have had enough of being sheltered. Of course, many rights were then given to them,
then it translated to African American equality and most recently gay rights. Many historic events
happened in the 60s that led for a more accepting and open minded world than it was previously.
So in this new found freedom, where is the line for raunchy and liberated? [O]nly thirty years
ago,... our mothers were burning their bras and picketing Playboy, and suddenly we were getting
implants and wearing the bunny logo as supposed symbols of our liberation, here, Levy shows a
little disgust in how some womanbehave (129). What she fails to see, is that if a woman got
implants and wore short shorts thirty years ago, a pastor would be giving them a private sermon
the second they got home from being in public. The pastor s kid, for example, who

Corrie Ten Boom From The Hiding Place And Anne Frank
Corrie Ten Boom from The Hiding Place and Anne Frank From Anne Frank s Diary were two of
the of the many people that were living during the Holocaust period. The Holocaust which took
place in the late 1930 s and throughout the 1940 s Adolf Hitler an anti Jewish man came to power
in Germany. During this Germanywas in a great depression due to their loss of World War One.
Hitler promised restoration and power and he was easily accepted. Once Adolf was in power he
began to invade countries around them like Poland and Holland. Hitler began to send Jewsaway to
camps. He then began to rampage around the countries capturing the Jews and sending them to
the camps where we later found out how they brutally killed the Jews. Before some of the Jews
were captured, they went into hiding. That s where our two stories came from our first is The
Hiding Place and the other is The Annex. Although these are not the only stories about Jews
hiding from the Nazis these are some of the most extreme. While comparing Corrie and Anne
their personality, experience, and final outcomes we see that there are similarities and difference.
Anne and Corrie had many different and similar personality. Anna had a very young, and spunky
personality. She loved to talk and move around. Peter said, All right, Mrs. Quack Quack.
Indicating that she talks way too much. I only want some fun . . . someone to laugh and clown

The Importance Of Education In Public Education
Education in schools today is very important to a student s success. From reading a particular
passage, I read about a particular student who was denied as school valedictorian for the simple
fact that she was black. To fully understand what role integration plays, or should play in public
education today, there are some key components that one must understand. The first component
addresses how much it really matters to see that schools are pretty much segregated as they were
in 1968. To my intellect, it s colossally noteworthy. In case you think approximately the two
principal purposes of open instruction, it s to advance social portability so that a child, no matter
the circumstances, can, through a great instruction, go where their abilities would take them. The
reason is to reinforce our popular government by making cleverly and open minded citizens, and
related to that, to construct social cohesion. We are a country where individuals come from all
corners of the world so it s imperative that the open schools be a place where children learn what
it implies to be an American, and learn the values of a majority rule government, one of which is
that we re all social. Isolation by race and by financial status essentially undermines both of those
goals. To my mind this issue of segregation, which gets talked about very little, is central to
undermining the twin rationales for public schooling in the first place. The second component
addresses race. Parents of children argue

area of online marketing is middle class, higher middle class and upper class segment but the
approach of online marketing is growing day by day. The basic reason behind this targeted area
must be there should be a computer or a smart phone, a bank account and a debit or credit card,
computer literacy etc.
The way of shopping is changed with the advancement of the technology. According to a study if
any e commerce company focuses on the demographic characteristics of the shopper, it is
concluded that the higher the level of income, occupation and education of the head of the family

Who Is Fortunato Ignorant
In Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe, Fortunato s character is shown as an ignorant, too
trusting, and naive. I think this is because he must of been somewhat young. In the story
Montresor says My dear Fortunato, you are luckily met. How remarkably well you are looking
today. He puts up a good front acting friendly. Fortunato allows Montresor to lead him down into
the catacombsthinking nothing of it. The reason I find that Fortunato is ignorant is that when
Montresor insists on Fortunato going back up and out of the catacombs due to his coughing he
refuses. Enough the cough is a mere nothing; it will not kill me. I will not die of a cough. Is what
Fortunato s response is to Montresor s suggestion. Then Montresor offers him wine.

The Elizabethan Era in England Essay
The Elizabethan Era is often referred to as the Golden Age of England (A Changing View...).
The Elizabethan Era, named after Queen Elizabeth I, was a time of change and discovery
(Elizabethan Superstitions). Elizabeth ruled in a time of religious turmoil; both the Catholics
and Protestants fought to be the official religion of England. (Elizabethan World View). Many
people throughout England struggled to find the correct religion (Elizabethan World View).
Religion was changing and so did science. During the late 1500 s science began to evolve; new
ideas, concepts, and beliefs were starting to emerge (A Changing View). Magic was considered to
be very similar to science in this era. The belief in magical creatures served as the roots for... Show

She established the Elizabethan Church, in 1559, she wanted her Church to be popular with her
people, and for Catholicism to die out naturally as people turned to the religion she had
established (Elizabeth R). In 1559, Queen Elizabeth attempted to reunite her country, by passing
the Act of Supremacy and the Act of Uniformity (Pitchard 105). The Act of Supremacy stated
that Queen Elizabeth I was the most powerful ruler of England; this acts also made her the
Supreme Governor of the Church (Elizabeth I). The Act of Uniformity was a set of rules
regarding the new Elizabethan Church (Elizabeth R). Rules of the Church were basic and
simple. All people of England had to attend church on Sundays and holidays. A fine was issued to
those who did not attend church, the money collected was then used to help the poor (Elizabeth
R). Queen Elizabeth had to be harsh and strict with Catholics, more than she would have preferred
in order to maintain peace in England (Elizabeth R). Although Queen Elizabeth was nice, she
could also be very strict. When Catholics rebelled she reacted quickly, she had them killed, took
away their properties, or imprisoned them. After years of rebellion and fighting, England became a
Protestant Country in the early 1600 s (Pitchard 103). The significance of the Elizabethan religious
settlement is that it was able to hold the vast majority of the people together, despite being a
compromise few would have chosen (Elizabeth I).

South Sister Case Study
Summary of Geological History Roughly 45 50,000 years ago the South Sister that is also
known as Charity began its primary formation. It is the youngest of the three sisters and currently
the tallest. According to https://www.volcanodiscovery.com/ this time period is known as the
Rock Mesa Eruptive Cycle and it is during this cycle that the middle sister also began forming.
According to https://volcanoes.usgs.gov these early eruptions produced many rhyolite lava flows
and domes. Between 30 37,000 years ago the main cone of the south sister began to form
consisting of rhyolite and andesite domes and flows. The construction of the dome was then
completed and capped off by a massive eruption that left pyroclastic deposits up to 200 meters in
depth. Following this eruption a period of roughly 7000 years began that consisted of relatively
large eruptions of andesite and lava fountains. According to https://volcanoes.usgs.gov these lava
fountains fed lava flows that built up the apron of the cone and the initial summit crater. This crater
was later filled up and built upon by dactite flows, which now make up roughly the upper 150
meters of todays South Sister.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

2. Issue: Lack of budgeting and financial considerations.
The team at Can Go never discusses the cost of projects and systems. The most word they use is
expensive. They all agree that the ASRS system is going to be expensive and that a market
research will be expensive but they have no specific dollar amount as to what expensive means. The
costs need to be put into measurable units. The project team never runs the numbers by the finance

department.
2. Recommendations: Every budget and project needs a budget. The budget will help with
planning and ensure that the team is keeping expenditures under control and also will give the
team a target of what needs to be accomplished. The first question the team should ask before
undertaking a project is how much is this going to cost and what the value is to the company? The
company needs to have a cost benefit analysis to find out if the cost of the project is justified by
the value and benefit it brings into the organization. The projects are supposed to be approved by
the finance department before they are undertaken to ensure that there are funds to fund the project.

Comparison Of Paul Revere s Ride And The Other Riders
Get ready because the British are coming! Paul Revere s Ride by Henry Longfellow, and The
Other Riders by PBS are both about Paul Revere warning colonist about the British attack.
Though there were many similarities between the two texts, such as settings, events, and
characters, there were also many differences too. There are differences between the poem and
the historical article in author s purpose, text structure, and differences in facts. The first
difference, the author s purpose between the two texts were different. Paul Revere s Ride was
to entertain and inform. An example from Paul Revere s Ride is Listen, my children, and you
shall hear/ Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere (Longfellow 1 2). This quote shows this is to
entertain because hear and Revere rhymes. In The Other Riders it states A cartoon in the early
1960s turned on the same humor, namely that Dawes was less suited for rhyming than Revere
(PBS 61 62). This quote shows this is to inform because talked about at the that Dawes wasn t in
Paul Revere s Ride because Dawes name didn t rhyme. To end this, these two passages used

In Paul Revere s Ride the text difference is poems, stanzas, rhyming, and footnotes . An example
in Paul Revere s Ride is Ready to ride and spread the alarm Through every Middlesex village and
farm, For the country folk to be up and to arm (Longfellow 12 15). I found that the rhyme scheme
is A, A, B, B, A,C ,D ,C ,D ,E ,E ,E, F, F, F,the same letters means they rhyme. In The Other Rider s
the text structure paragraphs, headings, and notes in the margin. An example is Sneaking Past
Guards, or Spreading the Word (PBS). I found headings from each paragraph. To finish this, text
structure between these two articles have different

The name of these self serve movie renting machines is Red box; this is the technology and idea
that changed everything for movie rental stores. As well as the online movie streaming, this
technology development made and amazing impact in its industry because it made one of the
biggest contenders go bankruptcy, this contender was Blockbuster video. Their company was in
the market for more than 20 years, and someone with the right tools, and the right vision made
their empire come down. This is the clearest example why organizations need to stay always
current and innovating the way they provide service because if they become too comfortable,
someone can find a better way to do it and bring your hard work down. The way that technology
was used on this scenario provided was by creating a box with a screen and a system in which
the user can select his or her movie choice, the system will recognize that selection, and dispense
the DVD movie the user wanted. This new strategy help the creator to save thousands of dollars on
employees, benefits, store locations, utilities, security, and many others. This is why their company
strategy was incredibly effective and not only made them a leader, but also a standard on how
people rent their movies today. Both of these technologies mentioned on this paper had a long way
before they became leaders in their industry. After long research trying to find the most accurate

Saramago Death Quotes
That s how life is, what it gives with one hand one day, it takes away with the other . This quote
can relate to a lot of real life scenarios, even drunk driving can relate to this quote. I believe
Saramago is trying to let every reader have a deep understanding of life and death. Going back to
the quote, I mentioned how it can relate to drunk driving, because drunk driving causes deathto
another innocent individual without giving them a chance of deciding when their life should end.
Their life was ended through another person s hand, similar to the story illustrated in the second
part of Death with Interruptions, how Saramago created a character name death , and she goes

Scorpius And Orion Research Paper
I have chosen the constellation Orion also known as the Hunter. I chose this constellation because
it means to me that no one is forgotten, there is no oblivion even for those who deserve it. Orion
is visible everywhere in the world as it sits on the celestial equator. It is very recognisable in the
sky and all its stars are quite bright which means it is a very prominent constellation.
The constellation of Orion has an interesting back story based on the hunter of the same namesake
in greek mythology. A scorpion was set upon Orion by the goddess Gaia after he threatened to kill
every animal on the planet, part of the myth also says that this is the reason that constellations of
Scorpius and Orion never appear in the sky at the same time.

Cogniative Biases And Donald Trump s Effect On The Media
Out of the 11 Cogniative Biases, the 4 that have impacted my life the most through experiences
are Priming Theory, Contrast Principle, Status Quo Bias, and the Loss Aversion Bias. The
Priming Theory nearly effects everything we do, whether it s listening to music, or watching
TV. We are Primed everyday, and one of the most common ways is through watching the news.
During the last election, it s safe to say even when you re not watching the news daily, we still
heard new stories every day about the canidates. As a democrat, I naturally was not Donald
Trumps biggest fan. I find that the Priming Theory plays a bigger role in who we vote for in
elections than I initially thought. We do not have to watch the daily news on TV, or read the
newspaper any more to learn about news. News is all around us, but the number one source
where I read my news is on my phone. I spend a decent amount of time on my phone and I come
across alot of News Articles, when Donald Trump is in the headline I can usually predict it s
something I ll find entertaining or infruiating to read, so 99% of the time I will click on the
article no matter what it s about. I tend to read more liberal based articles, which subconciously
Primes me to not like Donald Trump more through each article I read, because they are mostly
based about the negative things he has done. The Contrast Principle Theory has affected my life in
many different ways but one of the larger ways is through magazine s shifting my

Art Criticism Of The Gold Lustreware Bowl By Galileo Chini
A Gold Lustreware Maiolica Bowl by Galileo Chini
(fig.1) Maiolica bowl polychrome gold, grey and bronze colour. Circa 1902 1904.Galileo Chini. L
Arte della Ceramica Fontebuoni, Florence. Museo Galileo Chini, Borgo San lorenzo.
The gold lustreware bowl by Galileo Chini is an object which could seem on first glance devoid
of special significance: just a beautiful decorative object enjoyed at face value. (Fig.1) But in the
seeming void I saw a repository of layered meanings which I attempted to interpret by examining
the artistic cross cultural influences in Florence in the late nineteenth century. And to address the
question of why the Mediaeval Hispano Moresque gold lustreware and the design motifs of the
Gothic Revivalist repertoires were found on this bowl. I examine why Chini became inspired to use
these designs and what they may have meant to him.
In this essay I will examine why there was a taste for lustreware in the Florentine workshops and
how their clients saw themselves reflected by these golden objects. ... Show more content on

The ceramics produced by Galileo Chini show a large repertoire of historical motifs and cross
cultural influences which blended to create a unique creation and distinctly Stile Liberty. From my
own observations of his artistic output I would suggest that Chini did not imitate Renaissance
maiolica to attract a certain erudite clientele, as in the case of the Cantagalli workshop, but
developed his own voice adapting design motifs from the past and projecting them into a new
language which is demonstrably modern

No, Don t Back Out
No, don t back out. Say what you had to say. Zane said. Malice watched Zane and considered
telling him, in the end he said, We re more than just demons. I know that, we re hybrids. Zane
interrupted. Will you shut up and listen? Malice snapped. Zane detected that his happy go lucky
friend had vanished and had been replaced by an alter universe version of him. Zane held up his
hands in order to indicate his surrender and urged him to continue. Like I was saying, we are
more than demons or hybrids. There is more than one side to us. For example my demonic side,
my elfin side and my human side. What do you mean your human side? Zane asked. What I
mean is we were all born human before our bodies natured into our current natures. Just because
we are no longer humans, it doesn t mean that it still isn t in our blood or energy. Malice paused
to see if Zane was following. When he saw him nod, he continued. Now, each part of us has their
different needs, wants, likes and dislikes. Each part of us has their energy imprint, aura and life
essence. Each one has their emotions, thoughts and cravings. When you bring every one of those
aspects together, they create you as an individual. Ah okay, I get what you mean. But what does all
this have to do with finding our Chosen? Zane asked impatiently. Geez, will you relax. I was

Proportionality
Good regulation is always appropriate, balanced, and relevant. Regulatory design should be
proportional to the size of the problem and not beyond (as per Lesson 2, week 2). An indicator of
poor proportionality in a regulation is compliance burden. If a regulation is poorly designed, ...

Alternatively, strong effectiveness is when regulators do a cost benefit analysis to determine the true
cost of enforcing catalytic converters (as per class discussion, week 2). This can help highlight any
intended or unintended consequences. Governments may then be able to subsidize the cost of
installing catalytic converters (as per class discussion, week 2).
Efficiency
Is the regulator being efficient in utilizing resources? Regulations should be designed in a way
that costs are efficiently spent, provided the original regulatory objectives are not compromised
(as per Lesson 2, week 2). This normally involves regulators encouraging innovation and allowing
for the efficiency of markets (as per Lesson 2, week 2).
For example, in an effort to lower the carbon footprint from factory smoke stacks, the government
can mandate a new expensive piece of equipment to be installed. If this equipment poses a financial
burden on the regulated firm, the regulation can be inefficient; however, if regulated factories are
able to reduce their footprint through other lower cost options such as using less harmful raw
materials or installing solar panels; then that would be an efficient way of utilizing resources and
enforcing the

Obsession With Drag Queens
The Gayest Summer Ever My obsession with drag queens has intensified, especially over the

Essay about Analysis of Anne Sexton s Poem Her Kind
Analysis of Anne Sexton s Poem Her Kind Anne Sexton was a poet and a woman, but most
importantly, she was an outcast. Subjected to nervous breakdowns and admitted to a
neuropsychiatry hospital, Sexton must have been all too familiar with the staring eyes and the
judging minds of the public. Just being a woman in today s world often can be enough to
degrade a person in the public s eye, let alone being labeled as a crazy woman. But Anne Sexton
did not let society remain unchallenged in its views. She voiced a different opinion of women
through poetry. In Anne Sexton s Her Kind the speaker of the poem embraces society s negative
stereotype of modern, liberated women and transforms it into a positive image. Two voices, the
voice of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This distancing shows how she is different from society; perhaps society pushes her away
because she is different, or perhaps society sees her as different because she has segregated
herself from the typical lifestyle of civilization. Either way, the voice of society chants, A
woman like that is misunderstood (Line 13). Society must get rid of her because it cannot see
her point of view. Moreover, Anne Sexton uses stunning imagery to illustrate the pain society
inflicts on an outcast. The speaker compares herself to a witch who has been carted off to an
insane asylum and claims I have ridden in your cart, driver, I waved my nude arms at villages
going by, I learning the last bright routes (Lines15 17). She vividly describes pain through torture
methods practiced on witches during the Inquisition. For example, she feels she has been burned
at the stake because society s flames still bite my thigh (Line 18). The speaker s ribs crack where
your wheels wind (Line 19) on another torture device, the wheel. The words still in the phrase still
bite (Line 18) stresses that tortures have not gone out of style but have merely changed shape, and
society still employs them to resist the change in power towards women. Although the physical
tortures are no longer obvious in America, women s success is still lagging because of the attitude
of society. The public supposes that she is not

Koch (Professor of Hygiene and Microbiology, Berlin, 1843 1910) first recognized the cause of
infective foci as secondary to microbial growth in his 19th century postulates. Semmelweis
(Austrian obstetrician,
1818 1865) demonstrated a 5 fold reduction in puerperal sepsis by hand washing between
performing postmortem examinations and entering the delivery room. Joseph Lister (Professor of
Surgery, London,
1827 1912) and Louis Pasteur (French bacteriologist, 1822 1895) revolutionized the entire concept
of wound infection. Lister recognized that antisepsis could prevent infection.[1] In 1867, Lister
placed carbolic acid into open fractures to sterilize the wound and to prevent sepsis and hence the
need for amputation. In 1871, Lister began to use carbolic spray in the operating room to reduce
contamination.
However, the concept of wound suppuration persevered even among eminent surgeons, such as John
Hunter, 1728 1793.[2]
As late as the 19th century, aseptic surgery was not routine practice. Sterilization of instruments
began in the 1880s as did the wearing of gowns, masks, and gloves. Halsted (Professor of Surgery,

him more eager to meet Kurtz. Continuing his trip to Kurtz, Marlow and the others on the boat
were fired at from the outskirts of the forest. Upon arrival, though, they are greeted and warned

Furthermore, this acquisition explains the currency translation adjustment made in the theme
parks segment during 2015 and 2016 to represent current United States dollars. Additionally,
another enormous acquisition was in the filmed entertainment segment in 2016. Comcast
acquired DreamWorks Animation for $3.8 billion, of which $2.7 bilion was recognized in 2016
(Stelter, 2016). With this acquisition, NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burker said Dreamworks will
help us grow our film, television, theme parks and consumer products businesses for years to

segment explains the decrease in gross profit percentage from 2014 to 2016 along these business
segments. Moreover, Comcast closed a multi year movie distribution deal with Alibaba to tap

Confucius Statement Of Purpose
Confucius believed that if you, Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in
your life. This philosophy, as later described by Csikszentmihalyi, is the consequence of flow, an
involvement in an activity that causes one to loose track of time. This summer I got caught in the
flow, and time flew by without any recollection as to reality. This summer, I worked as the most
recognizable person in the United States Capitol.
I was a United States Senate Page. What this means is that for the summer session of Congress, I

in the politics of the job, the bureaucracy that revolved within working, or just simply being

resist succumbing to these pressures as a result of the love of the job. Loosing myself in the

It was easy to be able to make a necessary errand for Senator Rubio or Senator Cruz just because

reallocate the desire of fulfilling all my work in not just the jobs I enjoyed doing, but in all the
jobs that had to be done. I found it easy to try by best in the jobs that garnered the most attention,

cocktails under the tents to the lawn parties (Irving, 5). It was common for women during the
1950s to be the one s who clean wash clothes, and prepare dinner. Earlier, John mentions how
education was also different for his mother, My mother, who (being a girl) could never go to Dairy
School, attended the private femaleseminary also in town (6). Girls were not admitted into the
school which John s mother attended. The Dairy School, which is across from the family hotel had
not yet accepted girls into the school, the time setting in the novelwas now early nineteen fifties.
While Chipper Dove is walking and steps in a pile of poop, he turns to another football player
and demands that he cleans his shoe for him. The football player that was instructed to clean
Dove s shoe, Poindexter, shows resistant. Dove then rudely states to Poindexter, They don t have
girls here yet, Poindexter, said the running back from Boston, so there s nobody but you to clean
the shit off my shoes (51). It is clear to see that Dove s words portray him as a person that
believes girls are the one s who are responsible for all of the dirty work, and the cleaning of his
nasty shoe. Later in the novel The Hotel New Hampshire, as the story progresses the date
progresses dramatically. During the mid fifties of this novel, in the story the Dairy School, as
previously mentioned above decided to admit girls into the school. The school did not want to
admit girls into the school, but, ...the Dairy School realized it had to admit women to its student

Ambivalence About Immigration
Its been no secret that we have a major political divide this past year. At the center of this
controversy has been the issue of refugees and our country s veterans. About 88,000 foreigners
arrive in the United States on a typical day. Most are welcomed at airports and borders, and most
do not intend to stay in the United States. 82,000 nonimmigrant foreigners per day come to the
United States as tourists, business visitors, students, and foreign workers. Another 2,200 arrivals
are immigrants and refugees, persons that the United States has invited to join American society as
permanent residents. The other 4,100 are unauthorized or illegal foreigners some enter legally as
tourists and then stay in the United States, but most enter the country unlawfully by eluding border
patrol agents or using false documents to circumvent border inspectors.
Is the daily arrival in the United States of the equivalent of a small city s population something to
be welcomed or something to be feared? There is no single answer, which helps to explain America
s historical ambivalence about immigration. On one hand, the United States celebrates its immigrant
heritage, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

credibility could become a serious threat to internal stability and confidence in the

Why Do Zombies Attack
RESEARCH ON INFECTED
Know your enemy and know yourself and you can fight a hundred battles without disaster Sun Tzu
In these unknowing times, it is extremely important that we understand what we are dealing with.
If we can understand our enemy it will help us know how to beat them and further enhance safety
protocols. It is critical we know what these zombies are capable of and their mental capacities. I
have heard of accounts where zombies will group up and then attack like the incident in Ely,
Nevada. It does not seem like they are strategically waiting because no communication happens
among the zombies, or does it? Do zombies communicate important information amongst each other
in ways that we cannot comprehend? If so, we need to

4 Week Training Report
Training to Be Better AS.4 Kata Brill
This report summarises and requires me to discuss performing physical activities which are there
to improve a final goal. Over the six weeks I completed a training programme suited to these
activities, cooper run, vertical test, max push ups, agility test and max leg press. I did this through
a variety of gym sessions, runs or interval training. Which can hopefully positively adopt into my
basketball.
Over my 6 weeks of training I had to do pre tests and post test. For the cooper run I did nearly 7
laps of a 400m track and on my post test did 7 full laps. Push ups, 42 pre test to 50 post test. Max
Leg Press of 80kg 22 pre test 30 post test. Agility Test pre test 19,87, post test 18.72. Vertical Test
59cm to 61cm. To accomplish improving all these areas I set a 4 week training schedule which
specified on these tests for improvements. Which comprehensively worked as all my tests improved
from pre to post.
Throughout the 6 weeks a implemented sports phycology to help maximise my final outcomes.

Themes In Twelfth Night
Understanding Shakespeare s Twelfth Night
Shakespeare s Twelfth Night is one of his most beloved plays. There are several notable themes
that construct the play that makes twelfth night a great play. Many elements within the play take
on what it was like during Shakespeare s time, while others talk about political commentary. The
play talks about the main character Viola and her disguise as a man, while looking for her brother
Sebastian. Her disguise creates a lot of misperception; many would say Twelfth Night shines light
on sexuality; however it is the reader s exploration into Shakespeare s Twelfth Night, in which they
will explore the many possible truths and understanding of the play. Exploring the themes of gender
identity, love, madness and death, readers will have a better understanding the play an how each of
the themes connect.
Shakespeare s play has allowed for many readers and scholars to speculate its deeper meanings.
The play itself focuses on Viola s disguise as a man that ends up causing confusion and unwanted
love. Yet, it s the only way Viola can find her brother. Some could say that when Olivia falls for
Viola (Cesario), Viola have questioned herself because Oliva was so in love with Cesario, even
though she tells Olivia, bluntly that she cannot fall in love with her.(). This is strange for
Shakespeare to have a woman playing a man, since in his time all the men would play the women
roles and it was perfectly normal. One can imagine during

Special Education Inclusion
Parents never want to hear that their child has a life altering disability that will require additional
assistance with special services. Roughly thirteen percent of public school students are receiving
special education services. Barbara Boroson, a Scholastic author on Autism Spectrum Disorder,
asks the special educationinclusion population, How has education evolved from exclusion to
inclusion (Boroson, 2017). The issues with special education inclusion have been going unnoticed
for many years and now is the time for a change. Special education inclusion is an issue because it
bears against social and educational values. People all around the world have tried to fix these
issues, but their attempts have been unsuccessful. They have tried making amendments to include
special needs students in general classrooms. They have also tried to create ways to individualize
criteria for each student. These attempted solutions have not created a final answer but led us to
find the perfect way to solve inclusion s problem.
The problem with special education inclusion is involved in the amount of education each student
is receiving. Putting students with special needs into a general education classroom is minimizing
how much they are actually learning. Distractions that come with special needs kids are not
allowing other students to fully participate and listen in class. Teachers can only do so much with
what their school districts allow, which leads to another problem.

T-Mobile Business Analysis
I recall several years ago, when I was shopping for a new cell phone plan, to transfer my phone
service and phone lines. A co worker had mentioned several new things she loved about her plan
with T Mobile (2017). The word of mouth (WOM) reference I received was a good starting
point, yet, did not fully sway me to contract with T Mobile. Several promotions added to my final
decision, however, the offer to have the biggest impact for my decision was a $25 discount on my
plan every month just for being a government worker, which was very attractive, and stood out.
Therefore, I purchase the plan and switch over, along with purchased two new phones on credit.
This promotion really raised my awareness as a customer, because the plan had additional features,
built into the plan such as the international package (i.e., international phone service), visual
voicemail, as well as the Hot Spot services, in which I use quite frequently years later. ... Show

A Political Cartoon Analysis
Having a Master s degree would be nice. After completing 4 years of college and then going back
for a master s degree and graduating with that is an amazing accomplishment. There is so man
benefits that come with this high degree, more money, better jobs, and more education in the
particular work field as the masters. Let s get this straight, though, going back for a master s
degree costs a lot of money. Just to get a bachelor s degree cost a lot of money so going back to
college for more years will cost a lot more. That s the only downfall of getting a master s degree,
the price. In the political cartoon about a master s degree, the author makes it clear of the downfall
of getting that degree which is the price. He uses color, layout, and characters to make this point
very clear. The first notice of this picture is the color of it. It is not in pretty colors whatsoever. It is
two colors, blackand white. When people see black and gray, most people think about back in the
day when times were tough and money was scarce. The black part of the picture brings out the

hands of the graduate. This chain is handcuffed to the graduate s hand symbolizing that the

diploma, but instead of it saying congratulations, it says DEBT written across it. This depicts that
the graduate, since going for a master s degree, is now in debt. These objects in the image make it
very clear that getting a master s degree will cost a lot of money. The last rhetorical element that

Essay On The Minister s Black Veil
The Minister s Black veil: A Hidden Sin or Sin of A Spiritual Egotism In Nathaniel Hawthorne s
The Minister s Black Veil there are many secrets, many dark areas, both literal and metaphorical.
An intensely private man who allowed few to know him well, Nathaniel Hawthorne was fascinated
by the dark secrets of human nature. One of the first American writers to explore his characters
hidden motivations, Hawthorne broke new ground in American literature with his morally complex
characters. He explored such themes as sin, hypocrisy, and guilt. This essay is discussed about a

The veil can be compared to man s way of trying to hide the hideous acts of a sin by trying to
cover it up with a fig leaf as in the case of Adam and Eva. The townspeople assume that Hooper
has committed a specific crime, and because their Puritan community recognizes the danger of
sin, they re horrified that Hooper seems to be showing his sin to the public. Puritans believe that
sin must be defeated at all costs, it s also possible that the townspeople of Milford do understand
what Hooper s veil means. It reminds them of their own secret sins. the story seems to suggest
that it s impossible to know to a certainty if another person is innocent or guilty of a specific
crime. This might suggest that people shouldn t obsess over others sins, but respect others and
allow them to work through their own guilt. By wearing the veil, Hooper brings misery to himself,

Characteristics Of Regionalism
Essay 1
American Literature 2328
Fall 2017
Professor Roy Ruane
Tham Paija October 2, 2017
Realism is the portrayal of the reality of everyday life and period of literature between 1850 1900.
Realist fictions speculate myths, assumptions, social norms, sentimentality, collective wisdom, and
prejudices. Realism stories are usually about the middle class people, and it aims to show a truthful
portrayal of truth. Regionalism is a class of realist literature distinguished by closeness to the habits,
language, dialects, manners, history, traditions, beliefs of a particular geographical region.
Regionalism manifests the characters of both realism and romanticism. Romanticism is cultural the
period from 1830 1860 in America. Humankind is naturally good. The characteristics of
romanticism are passion and emotion, nature over the man, spiritual, intuition, and insight. A White
Heron, by Sarah Orne Jewett, is an example of local color because of its realism. Jewett uses
characteristics of regionalism like dialogue to show the contrast between the locals and outsiders,
habits, their daily activities, the dress, features of a place. Editha by William is the story of
realism which has many characteristics of realism like details about war; he uses dialect to hold
out the trend of the story, using middle class peoples character. Dean Howell uses a part of
romantic style but all together its categorized as one of the

Self Image In Death Of Salesman Essay
Published in 1949, Arthur Miller s Death of Salesman is a post Second World War American
drama that highlights the plight of isolation and desolation experienced by the common man, as
symbolized by Willy. The play deals with the society, life s absurdity, various internal and external
conflicts, death and above all, the tragedyof existence. It is located in the industrial society of the
twentieth century where the pressure to succeed and the financial difficulties seem insurmountable.
The play depicts America as the land of opportunity as well as a place where the society has

The best characterization of Linda is in these words: Linda, as the eternal wife and mother, the
fixed point of affection both given and received, the woman who suffers and endures, is in many
ways, the earth mother who embodies the play s ultimate moral value, love. But in the beautiful,
ironic complexity of her creation, she is also Willy s and their sons destroyer. In her love Linda
has accepted Willy s Greatness and his dream, but while in her admiration for Willy her love is
powerful and moving, in her admiration for his dreams, it is lethal. She encourages Willy s
dream, yet she will not let him leave her for the New Continent, the only realm where the dream
can be fulfilled. She wants to reconcile father and son, but she attempts this in the context of Willy
s false values. She cannot allow her sons to achieve that selfhood that involves denial of these
values (Gordon 312).
Furthermore, the Loman family lives in a society where the monetary status of residents
determines their value. It is a consumer based materialistic society which measures the worth of
people on the basis of wealth owner. Clearly, being a part of this society and finding himself a
complete failure , Willy s sense of self image suffers drastically, which worsen when he sees his
sons doing nothing about their life. Willy tries to, in fact, he knows that he wants to live in this
society but at the same time, his idealism makes him imagine a

Disadvantages Of Constantine Grocery
As Constantine Grocery is growing from a small family business to a grocery store chain, the
need for raising funds has increased as a result of the expansion of the business. A preliminary
study has been conducted and the funds needed are believed to be around 135 million dollars.
Our mission is to explore the owner s options to obtain that amount of money and to recommend
the best option through demonstrating the advantages and disadvantages of each choice. 1
Issuing corporate bonds: These are considered one of the tools used by companies to raise
finance. Bonds are also considered as debt and under there terms the borrower has to pay fixed
interest, which is called coupon rate, on the loan and repay the principal upon maturity of the debt
(Choudhry, 2004). Unlike selling shares, bonds are less risky to investors, allow business to buy
back their bonds if they wanted to, and give the business the opportunity to deduct the interest from
the business s taxes (The Legal Environment and Foundations for Business Law, 2012). The
downside of issuing corporates bonds is the fact that they are loans and they could lead the business
to bankruptcy if the business is highly leveraged. In addition to that, business has to follow the
market in deciding the interest rates which increase their financial burden. Finally, while the
company still retain their ownership after issuing bonds, failing to pay interests enables the
investors to control the business through bankruptcy and they

How Does Ancient Egyptian Culture Affect Modern Day Society s?
Ancient Egypt was the first civilization to make use of the sciences, including math and medical
uses. Clocks, sports, a twelve month calendar, farming, building are also believed to originate in
Ancient Egypt. All of these influences our everyday lives.
The Egyptians created a decimal system that used seven different symbols. Mathematical text can
be traced back to around 2000 1800 BC. By then the Egyptians had a grasp of multiplication,
division, prime numbers, geometry and fractions.

Obelisks can also be found as tombstones in U.S. cemeteries. The modern day alphabet is believed
to have been influenced by a complex system of hieroglyphs, which used 24 symbols for
consonants, along with many other symbols. The Egyptians invented the 354 day lunar calendar
made up of 12 months that correlated with the lunar cycle. It was split into three seasons that
reflected the natural cycle of the River Nile, flood, spring and low water. The year started with the
reappearance of the star Sirius, which signaled the rising of the Nile River. A 365 day calendar
was later invented, consisting of 12 lunar months of 30 days, and then split into three seasons, and
five extra days at the end of the year. It was not until 30 BC that the Romans added an extra day to
every fourth month to give us the calendar we use today.
The Ancient Egyptians brought to us many inventions, such as Scissors, combs, toothbrushes and
toothpaste. They are also credited with creating the lock and key, the weaving loom, drums, and the
first oil lamps.
Wooden door locks were used to protect the property. A hollowed out bolt was connected to pins
that could be moved by inserting a key. Egyptian locks were more secure than spring locks later
used by the Romans. Like many of the ancient civilizations, ancient Egypt wasn t the most
sophisticated when it came to medicine, but they were ahead of the rest of the world in

Sexual Abuse and Eating Disorders Essay
Sexual Abuse and Eating Disorders
The possible relationship between sexual abuse and the development of an eating disorder has
gained attention over the last few years. Researchers have attempted to clarify this potential link
using a variety of population samples and research methodologies. As will be shown, the results of
these investigations are rather diverse and sometimes inconclusive. In the following review of the
literature, the complex relationship between sexual abuse and eating disorders will be examined
while also discussing the methodological limitations of the various designs.

To compare rates of sexual traumata among eating disordered women to those among women with
other psychiatric disturbances (eating disorders excluded), a group of 21 women in hospital
inpatient or outpatient treatments was formed, all within the age range of the eating disordered
subjects who were not actively psychotic or heavily medicated. A normal control group contained
24 women consisting of hospital staff, parents, friends, and students comparable in age to the eating
disordered subjects.
The Defense Style Questionnaire (DSQ, Bond, Gardner, Christian, Sigal, 1983; Bond Vaillant,
1986) was used to assess defense styles. In order to study sexual traumata, the authors used a self
report questionnaire on which subjects indicated the following about sexual traumata during their
childhood and adolescence: (1) the perpetrator; (2) the victim; (3) the nature of the abuse; (4) the
frequency of the abuse; and (5) their age when the abuse occurred. Also, to determine the presence
of eating disorders among the control subjects, the authors chose to use the Eating Attitudes Test
(Garner Garfinkel, 1979).
The authors noted that 30% of the eating disordered women reported sexual traumata; however,
such traumata was prevalent among bulimics (particularly those with no anorexic history), but was
rare among anorexic restricters. Furthermore, subjects showing mixed anorexic and bulimic
symptoms, showed prevalence of sexual

Descriptive Essay On The Game Of Life
This garnet has kept my mind running a number of times. In bed, in a befuddlement during
school, in the car waiting for a red light to turn green. Sometimes I thought It s not even a big
deal , but most of the time I laid wide awake because the anticipation made my heart race. The
rapid beating of my heart similar to the thrill of playing Pacman. Racing around the grid, the
familiar waka waka ringing through my ears. In some ways, my ring represents reaching the next
level of this game, the game of life. Drawing closer to the ever evident end, I m, in a way, forced
to thinking about the person I was, the person I ve become, and the person I want to be. When we
began high school, we were thrown into an unknown world of new faces, new studies, and new
dreams. Much like a video game, we made our way through obstacles, finding new ways to
escape problems and get to the next stage, just like Pacman has to escape and conquer the
ghosts. Each dot puts Pacman closer to his goal, just as we ve consumed little dots of
knowledge, friendship, and love in these hallways. Two hundred forty four dots fill the Pacman
grid, and hundreds of grids are completed right here at Mercy every year. The support of the
community becoming an ever binding connection to our place as a Mercy girl. Catherine
McAuley s message becoming a proverb for our future. Our friendships becoming a comfort and
light for dark times. Our rings are one look into the many laughs, smiles, and hours of hard work,

Bottled Water On The Environment
Many people across the world choose to buy bottled water, not so many realise the adverse effects
this practice has on the environment. Anthropocentric thinking as a result of modernity has led
humans to see themselves as superior to the natural world (Jones, 2010). From 2014 to 2015 the
number of Australians consuming bottled waterrose from 4.9 million per week to 5.3 million per
week (Australian Food News, 2016). The effects of bottled water consumption have severe impacts
on natural water consumption, leads to excess product consumption and waste management issues.

Ban The Bottle , a campaign advocating bans on one time use plastic water bottles (Ban the Bottle,
2012), shows a list of colleges, universities and organisations around the world that have joined
their cause. While the page has not been updated recently, the last count was around 81. While it
may seem like a big achievement getting an entire campus or organisation to ban bottled water,
highest commendation has to go to the town of Bundanoon in New South Wales, which was
apparently the first town in the world to enforce a ban on bottled water (Australian town bans
bottled water, 2009; McLeod, 2009). The banning of bottled water is not however always
successful in eliminating plastic bottle use. The University of Vermont banned bottled water in
2013 but found it led students to drink more unhealthy alternatives which were also served in
single use plastic bottles (Kingkade, 2015). Kingkade s (2015) article goes on to suggest
convenience as a big factor in this shift and notes that the university aimed to provide free cups in
the future. While cups may suffice for a quick drink, the convenience of a bottle which can be
carried around in a bag and to class is a better option for most students. In the words of Orr (1992,
p.90) It all comes down to whether the public understands the relation between its well being and

  • 2. Cherokee Native American Indians and the Trail of Tears Cherokee Native American Indians and the Trail of Tears What made the Cherokee culture distinctive towards others in the Trail of Tears time period was that they had a more peaceful, harmless outlook on the situation. In 1814, Andrew Jackson who would eventually become the President of the United States, had his and his whole army s lives on the line in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend to the British forces when the Cherokee allied with them to win the battle. Surprisingly, 16 years later when Jackson was President of the United States, he made the deciding decision on the controversy of whether or not the Cherokee deserved their land. Jackson completed the Indian Removal Act in 1830, sending the Cherokee out of their own land which they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They were walking mostly through moist valleys and forests which provided some nutrition and shelter. The weather was overall favorable for the Cherokee during the Trail of Tears. The rivers were also helpful to the Cherokee as a source of food and basis for navigation. Some may wonder why the Cherokee did not fight for their land. Historians suggest that the Cherokee knew America was a more powerful force. They were also a peaceful tribe that didn t wish to start a war, so they instead chose to go and find new land. Based on their belief system they valued peace, not violence. This made the Cherokee distinctive to other tribes involved in the Trail of Tears, because they peacefully left while the other tribes planned to fight until they realized they had a small chance of winning a battle against Jackson and America. The Cherokee knew that America was acting harsh and cruel towards them, but they didn t believe strongly in acts of violence. The Cherokee would also communicate with Jackson occasionally (not often at all) about their progress and health during their voyage. After their long, treacherous voyage, they reached their new land where they had to resettle, and had to start all over again. When the Cherokee resettled, they were a different group with no leaders; everybody became the same during their voyage to new settlement. The Cherokee then became more civilized, and began to fade ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Correspondingly stating individual differences by applying idioms in the text, Adele s song shows a new sense of confidence along with the aforementioned pain while contrastingly Motion City Soundtrack s song reveals a tone that is longing. The lyrics in Rolling in the Deep say, See how I leave with every piece of you. Don t underestimate the things that I will do. The speaker is shows to be unaffected by the relationship and he/she is trying to show the past lover how easily he/she can walk away from the relationship. The idiom reveals as somewhat of a retribution and gives off a tone that is apathetic. With this tone, it gives off a newfound feeling of confidence the speaker has gained for the speaker is showing that he/she could do better without his/her past lover. Proposal For Implementing A Formal Mentoring Program Essay MEMORANDUM TO:Donald Lower, Partner; Barry Anderson, Partner; John Huber, Partner; Todd Whitlow, Partner FROM:Brooke Vondal, Administrative Officer DATE: September 18, 2016 SUBJECT:Proposal to Implement a Formal Mentoring Program Attached is the proposal to implement a mentoring program at Anderson, Lower, Whitlow P.C. In early summer, ALW hired fifteen recently graduated individuals and 12 have already taken positions at other firms. There needs to be a system in place to develop and foster relationships for these individuals within the firm. This firm has a high turnover rate of new hires; currently, the turnover rate is 85%. Firms that are considered the Big Four are offering mentoring programs that make their employees invested in the company s future. Unfortunately, if ALW does not start to compete with this issue, more employees will be lost to the Big Four Firms. Implementing a strong mentoring program that fosters individual and personal growth within the company is vital for the future of this firm. This includes setting up and maintaining a mentoring program. The mentoring program will be set up with individuals from all levels of achievement, that are willing to devote a portion of their time to the firm s prosperity. Investing in the future of this firm, through a formal mentoring program is a vital step. I look forward to working with you throughout this process. • 5. Teaching Tenure, The Most Common One Is Job Protection Essay While there are several reasons educators say they need tenure, the most common one is job protection. This could possibly stem from the time before tenure when educators were fired for any reason. Many like to point out that the time before was possibly one of the worst times to be a teacher because of all the petty reasons one could have been fired. For example, if one was from a different political party than the principal then said educator could be fired. Many female educators like to point out how prior to 1886 they could have been fired for wearing pants and how previous to coherent tenurelaws, pregnant women were required to take two unpaid years off of work. Unfortunately many of the reasons cited for the terminating of teachers is being ineffective. While the meaning of the word not producing an significant or desired effect seems black and white there are many shades of gray in between when discussing tenure. One major question when trying to determine effectiveness is how exactly it should be determined. While it seems easy for schooldistricts to determine who is and is not effective in their schools, it is hard for them to do so and stay within the law. Many laws protect teachers from being fired without a due process, meaning that tenured educators about to be fired are entitled to a trial of their peers. This requires several different lawyers, substantial evidence, and of course copious amounts of money. While this is a hassle for school districts, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Theory And Ethics Of Care Virtue is habit or quality that allows an individual to succeed though a chosen purpose, with the use of intelligible teleological that accounts to the meaning of human life; which is categorized by the moral virtues and intellectual virtues. Virtue ethics is known as virtue theory; which is an approach to ethicsthat emphasizes an individual s character element through ethical thinking rather than rules about deontological or consequentialism. It is also said that virtuedoes not primarily identify universal principles that can be applied to moral situations, but uses deontological and consequentialist to identify principles. This theory shows that it is based on an individual rather than actions issues; it does not only deal with the rightness or wrongness of individual actions, but it provides guidance to sort characteristics and behaviors in the good of an individual who seeks to achieve rather than fail. Virtual ethics was revived during the Twentieth Century and is composed of three main directions; which are eudemonism, agent based theory and ethics of care. Eudemonism is based on human flourishing of one s distinctive functions to do well. It is a classical formulation of virtue ethicsthat shows proper goals of human life to be achieved by a life time of practice in everyday activities and the use of wisdom to resolve conflict. • 7. Civil Society Brewing Case Study March 19th, 2016 forever changed the beer landscape for Jupiter, Florida. This was the first of what will be many bottle and/or can releases for one of the newest breweries to grace the South Florida horizon. A woman walking by asked me what the line was for. I proceeded to explain how Civil Society Brewing was having their first bottle release which in this case was in the form a 32oz crowler. 375 crowlers (3 per person) would, in fact, be released to fans who had come from as far away as Miami. What is Pulp you ask? Well, it is an American pale wheat ale that comes in at 6.3% abv. Civil takes the wheat beer to a whole new level by lovingly caressing it with Columbus and Mosaic hops which give it the sweet smell and taste of a myriad of citrus flavors. Pulp pours with just the slightest of yellow haze... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We opened a growler of Tree House Brewing s Double Shot, a bottle of Hardywood Park Craft Breweries Foolery, and a bottle of Casey Brewing s East Bank. By the time 11:00am had rolled around the line had reached 67 craft beer loving souls. The doors were opened and ID s were checked. The whole process ran very smooth. Folks waited in line for a few minutes until reaching the front where they chose a wristband which was color coordinated with the number of crowlers they were purchasing. Once the wristband was received we were able to purchase something from the tap menu. Other than Pulp the two hits of the morning seemed to be the two treatments of Gary. Gary is Civil s milk stout which was treated with Hazelnuts for Gary goes nuts and with bananas foster for Gary goes bananas. I m usually not a big fan of hazelnut beers, but Gary goes nuts was delicious. Gary goes bananas was also very good, but the hazelnut took the win for me. • 8. The Change Into Pop Culture Through Media And Other Forms Raunchy Liberation Raunchiness has worked its way into pop culture through media and other forms. Which brings up the question: can raunchiness be empowering? Levy looks at how a portion of women are raunchy, and she found that its use can be almost derading to some women. This viewpoint is made obvious when she finishes her article with [i]t is worth asking ourselves if this bawdy world of boobs and gams we have resurrected reflects how far we ve come, or how far we have left to go (131). Yet, there are levels of raunchiness that I believe are liberating for many groups of people, not only women. The feminist movement showed the world that women have had enough of being sheltered. Of course, many rights were then given to them, then it translated to African American equality and most recently gay rights. Many historic events happened in the 60s that led for a more accepting and open minded world than it was previously. So in this new found freedom, where is the line for raunchy and liberated? [O]nly thirty years ago,... our mothers were burning their bras and picketing Playboy, and suddenly we were getting implants and wearing the bunny logo as supposed symbols of our liberation, here, Levy shows a little disgust in how some womanbehave (129). What she fails to see, is that if a woman got implants and wore short shorts thirty years ago, a pastor would be giving them a private sermon the second they got home from being in public. The pastor s kid, for example, who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Importance Of Education In Public Education Education in schools today is very important to a student s success. From reading a particular passage, I read about a particular student who was denied as school valedictorian for the simple fact that she was black. To fully understand what role integration plays, or should play in public education today, there are some key components that one must understand. The first component addresses how much it really matters to see that schools are pretty much segregated as they were in 1968. To my intellect, it s colossally noteworthy. In case you think approximately the two principal purposes of open instruction, it s to advance social portability so that a child, no matter the circumstances, can, through a great instruction, go where their abilities would take them. The reason is to reinforce our popular government by making cleverly and open minded citizens, and related to that, to construct social cohesion. We are a country where individuals come from all corners of the world so it s imperative that the open schools be a place where children learn what it implies to be an American, and learn the values of a majority rule government, one of which is that we re all social. Isolation by race and by financial status essentially undermines both of those goals. To my mind this issue of segregation, which gets talked about very little, is central to undermining the twin rationales for public schooling in the first place. The second component addresses race. Parents of children argue ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I think this is because he must of been somewhat young. In the story Montresor says My dear Fortunato, you are luckily met. How remarkably well you are looking today. He puts up a good front acting friendly. Fortunato allows Montresor to lead him down into the catacombsthinking nothing of it. The reason I find that Fortunato is ignorant is that when Montresor insists on Fortunato going back up and out of the catacombs due to his coughing he refuses. The Elizabethan Era, named after Queen Elizabeth I, was a time of change and discovery (Elizabethan Superstitions). Elizabeth ruled in a time of religious turmoil; both the Catholics and Protestants fought to be the official religion of England. (Elizabethan World View). Many people throughout England struggled to find the correct religion (Elizabethan World View). Religion was changing and so did science. She established the Elizabethan Church, in 1559, she wanted her Church to be popular with her people, and for Catholicism to die out naturally as people turned to the religion she had established (Elizabeth R). In 1559, Queen Elizabeth attempted to reunite her country, by passing the Act of Supremacy and the Act of Uniformity (Pitchard 105). The Act of Supremacy stated that Queen Elizabeth I was the most powerful ruler of England; this acts also made her the Supreme Governor of the Church (Elizabeth I). The Act of Uniformity was a set of rules regarding the new Elizabethan Church (Elizabeth R). Rules of the Church were basic and simple. All people of England had to attend church on Sundays and holidays. A fine was issued to those who did not attend church, the money collected was then used to help the poor (Elizabeth R). Queen Elizabeth had to be harsh and strict with Catholics, more than she would have preferred in order to maintain peace in England (Elizabeth R). Although Queen Elizabeth was nice, she could also be very strict. When Catholics rebelled she reacted quickly, she had them killed, took away their properties, or imprisoned them. After years of rebellion and fighting, England became a Protestant Country in the early 1600 s (Pitchard 103). The construction of the dome was then completed and capped off by a massive eruption that left pyroclastic deposits up to 200 meters in depth. Following this eruption a period of roughly 7000 years began that consisted of relatively large eruptions of andesite and lava fountains. • 31. Essay about Analysis of Anne Sexton s Poem Her Kind Analysis of Anne Sexton s Poem Her Kind Anne Sexton was a poet and a woman, but most importantly, she was an outcast. Subjected to nervous breakdowns and admitted to a neuropsychiatry hospital, Sexton must have been all too familiar with the staring eyes and the judging minds of the public. Just being a woman in today s world often can be enough to degrade a person in the public s eye, let alone being labeled as a crazy woman. But Anne Sexton did not let society remain unchallenged in its views. She voiced a different opinion of women through poetry. In Anne Sexton s Her Kind the speaker of the poem embraces society s negative stereotype of modern, liberated women and transforms it into a positive image. Two voices, the voice of... This distancing shows how she is different from society; perhaps society pushes her away because she is different, or perhaps society sees her as different because she has segregated herself from the typical lifestyle of civilization. Either way, the voice of society chants, A woman like that is misunderstood (Line 13). Society must get rid of her because it cannot see her point of view. Moreover, Anne Sexton uses stunning imagery to illustrate the pain society inflicts on an outcast. The speaker compares herself to a witch who has been carted off to an insane asylum and claims I have ridden in your cart, driver, I waved my nude arms at villages going by, I learning the last bright routes (Lines15 17). She vividly describes pain through torture methods practiced on witches during the Inquisition. For example, she feels she has been burned at the stake because society s flames still bite my thigh (Line 18). The speaker s ribs crack where your wheels wind (Line 19) on another torture device, the wheel. The words still in the phrase still bite (Line 18) stresses that tortures have not gone out of style but have merely changed shape, and society still employs them to resist the change in power towards women. Although the physical tortures are no longer obvious in America, women s success is still lagging because of the attitude of society. The public supposes that she is not ... Joseph Lister (Professor of Surgery, London, 1827 1912) and Louis Pasteur (French bacteriologist, 1822 1895) revolutionized the entire concept of wound infection. Lister recognized that antisepsis could prevent infection.[1] In 1867, Lister placed carbolic acid into open fractures to sterilize the wound and to prevent sepsis and hence the need for amputation. In 1871, Lister began to use carbolic spray in the operating room to reduce contamination. However, the concept of wound suppuration persevered even among eminent surgeons, such as John Hunter, 1728 1793.[2] As late as the 19th century, aseptic surgery was not routine practice. Sterilization of instruments began in the 1880s as did the wearing of gowns, masks, and gloves. These attempted solutions have not created a final answer but led us to find the perfect way to solve inclusion s problem. The problem with special education inclusion is involved in the amount of education each student is receiving. Putting students with special needs into a general education classroom is minimizing how much they are actually learning. The best characterization of Linda is in these words: Linda, as the eternal wife and mother, the fixed point of affection both given and received, the woman who suffers and endures, is in many ways, the earth mother who embodies the play s ultimate moral value, love. But in the beautiful, ironic complexity of her creation, she is also Willy s and their sons destroyer. In her love Linda has accepted Willy s Greatness and his dream, but while in her admiration for Willy her love is powerful and moving, in her admiration for his dreams, it is lethal. She encourages Willy s dream, yet she will not let him leave her for the New Continent, the only realm where the dream can be fulfilled. She wants to reconcile father and son, but she attempts this in the context of Willy s false values. She cannot allow her sons to achieve that selfhood that involves denial of these values (Gordon 312). Furthermore, the Loman family lives in a society where the monetary status of residents determines their value. It is a consumer based materialistic society which measures the worth of people on the basis of wealth owner. Clearly, being a part of this society and finding himself a complete failure , Willy s sense of self image suffers drastically, which worsen when he sees his sons doing nothing about their life. Willy tries to, in fact, he knows that he wants to live in this society but at the same time, his idealism makes him imagine a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Disadvantages Of Constantine Grocery As Constantine Grocery is growing from a small family business to a grocery store chain, the need for raising funds has increased as a result of the expansion of the business. A preliminary study has been conducted and the funds needed are believed to be around 135 million dollars. Our mission is to explore the owner s options to obtain that amount of money and to recommend the best option through demonstrating the advantages and disadvantages of each choice. 1 Issuing corporate bonds: These are considered one of the tools used by companies to raise finance. Bonds are also considered as debt and under there terms the borrower has to pay fixed interest, which is called coupon rate, on the loan and repay the principal upon maturity of the debt (Choudhry, 2004). Unlike selling shares, bonds are less risky to investors, allow business to buy back their bonds if they wanted to, and give the business the opportunity to deduct the interest from the business s taxes (The Legal Environment and Foundations for Business Law, 2012). The downside of issuing corporates bonds is the fact that they are loans and they could lead the business to bankruptcy if the business is highly leveraged. In addition to that, business has to follow the market in deciding the interest rates which increase their financial burden. Finally, while the company still retain their ownership after issuing bonds, failing to pay interests enables the investors to control the business through bankruptcy and they ... The modern day alphabet is believed to have been influenced by a complex system of hieroglyphs, which used 24 symbols for consonants, along with many other symbols. The Egyptians invented the 354 day lunar calendar made up of 12 months that correlated with the lunar cycle. It was split into three seasons that reflected the natural cycle of the River Nile, flood, spring and low water. The year started with the reappearance of the star Sirius, which signaled the rising of the Nile River. A 365 day calendar was later invented, consisting of 12 lunar months of 30 days, and then split into three seasons, and five extra days at the end of the year. It was not until 30 BC that the Romans added an extra day to every fourth month to give us the calendar we use today. The Ancient Egyptians brought to us many inventions, such as Scissors, combs, toothbrushes and toothpaste. They are also credited with creating the lock and key, the weaving loom, drums, and the first oil lamps. Wooden door locks were used to protect the property. A hollowed out bolt was connected to pins that could be moved by inserting a key. Egyptian locks were more secure than spring locks later used by the Romans. • 54. Sexual Abuse and Eating Disorders Essay Sexual Abuse and Eating Disorders The possible relationship between sexual abuse and the development of an eating disorder has gained attention over the last few years. Researchers have attempted to clarify this potential link using a variety of population samples and research methodologies. As will be shown, the results of these investigations are rather diverse and sometimes inconclusive. In the following review of the literature, the complex relationship between sexual abuse and eating disorders will be examined while also discussing the methodological limitations of the various designs. Anorexic Samples Steiger and Zanko (1990) compared rates of incestuous abuses (sexual contacts with family members) and extrafamilial abuses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To compare rates of sexual traumata among eating disordered women to those among women with other psychiatric disturbances (eating disorders excluded), a group of 21 women in hospital inpatient or outpatient treatments was formed, all within the age range of the eating disordered subjects who were not actively psychotic or heavily medicated. A normal control group contained 24 women consisting of hospital staff, parents, friends, and students comparable in age to the eating disordered subjects. The Defense Style Questionnaire (DSQ, Bond, Gardner, Christian, Sigal, 1983; Bond Vaillant, 1986) was used to assess defense styles. In order to study sexual traumata, the authors used a self report questionnaire on which subjects indicated the following about sexual traumata during their childhood and adolescence: (1) the perpetrator; (2) the victim; (3) the nature of the abuse; (4) the frequency of the abuse; and (5) their age when the abuse occurred. Also, to determine the presence of eating disorders among the control subjects, the authors chose to use the Eating Attitudes Test (Garner Garfinkel, 1979). The authors noted that 30% of the eating disordered women reported sexual traumata; however, such traumata was prevalent among bulimics (particularly those with no anorexic history), but was rare among anorexic restricters. Furthermore, subjects showing mixed anorexic and bulimic symptoms, showed prevalence of sexual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Descriptive Essay On The Game Of Life This garnet has kept my mind running a number of times. In bed, in a befuddlement during school, in the car waiting for a red light to turn green. Sometimes I thought It s not even a big deal , but most of the time I laid wide awake because the anticipation made my heart race. The rapid beating of my heart similar to the thrill of playing Pacman. Racing around the grid, the familiar waka waka ringing through my ears. In some ways, my ring represents reaching the next level of this game, the game of life. Drawing closer to the ever evident end, I m, in a way, forced to thinking about the person I was, the person I ve become, and the person I want to be. When we began high school, we were thrown into an unknown world of new faces, new studies, and new dreams. Much like a video game, we made our way through obstacles, finding new ways to escape problems and get to the next stage, just like Pacman has to escape and conquer the ghosts. Each dot puts Pacman closer to his goal, just as we ve consumed little dots of knowledge, friendship, and love in these hallways. Two hundred forty four dots fill the Pacman grid, and hundreds of grids are completed right here at Mercy every year. The support of the community becoming an ever binding connection to our place as a Mercy girl. Catherine McAuley s message becoming a proverb for our future. Our friendships becoming a comfort and light for dark times. Our rings are one look into the many laughs, smiles, and hours of hard work, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Bottled Water On The Environment Many people across the world choose to buy bottled water, not so many realise the adverse effects this practice has on the environment. Anthropocentric thinking as a result of modernity has led humans to see themselves as superior to the natural world (Jones, 2010). From 2014 to 2015 the number of Australians consuming bottled waterrose from 4.9 million per week to 5.3 million per week (Australian Food News, 2016). The effects of bottled water consumption have severe impacts on natural water consumption, leads to excess product consumption and waste management issues. Robertson (2014) describes the amount of water needed to produce a product as virtual water, or a water footprint. Bottled water has a water foot print of three to one. The ... Ban The Bottle , a campaign advocating bans on one time use plastic water bottles (Ban the Bottle, 2012), shows a list of colleges, universities and organisations around the world that have joined their cause. While the page has not been updated recently, the last count was around 81. While it may seem like a big achievement getting an entire campus or organisation to ban bottled water, highest commendation has to go to the town of Bundanoon in New South Wales, which was apparently the first town in the world to enforce a ban on bottled water (Australian town bans bottled water, 2009; McLeod, 2009). The banning of bottled water is not however always successful in eliminating plastic bottle use. The University of Vermont banned bottled water in 2013 but found it led students to drink more unhealthy alternatives which were also served in single use plastic bottles (Kingkade, 2015). Kingkade s (2015) article goes on to suggest convenience as a big factor in this shift and notes that the university aimed to provide free cups in the future. While cups may suffice for a quick drink, the convenience of a bottle which can be carried around in a bag and to class is a better option for most students. In the words of Orr (1992, p.90) It all comes down to whether the public understands the relation between its well being and the health of the natural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
