21st Century Education Narrative
For the 21st
century education assignment we created a PowerPoint presentation on
Project Based Learning that Liz Kish and I presented together. In the first slide, we gave our
classmates the textbook definition of Project Based Learning. The definition we provided is a
follows: Project Based Learning is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and
skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to a complex
question, problem, or challenge. On the next slide, we discussed why Project Based Learning is
important to education. Our reasons that it is important are as follows: Evolves today’s learning
into 21st century learning and incorporates technology to improve teaching and education,
provides multiple learning styles (hands on), and increases academic achievement. Next we
discussed the benefits of incorporating Project Based Learning into education, the benefits are as
follows: Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and provides Motivation & Interest
toward learning. The following slide discusses the applications to 21st
century education, the
applications are as follows: PBL requires the thinking skills and use of technology that must be
present in today’s classroom as it is linked to the digital advancements of the technological
world, and with technology only improving we must use it as a resource and help it turn us into
the best teachers that we may be. Within the next slide, we provided a clear example for Project
Based Learning, the example is as follows: One clear example of Project Based Learning is a
group project using wikispaces. When students work on a group project together they have to
communicate effectively, collaborate well, and they each must put in their percent of the effort.
Each one of the students can benefit from project based learning because it teaches children to
work together and be tolerable and encouraging to others opinions and ideas. The last slide we
discussed was the example slide, the following are the examples we provided: presentations,
models, real life scenarios, all of the work completed in this class. To find the sources we used,
please go to the last slide of the power point presentation. Thank You!
