The Assure Method: Monday
ANALYZE- My class is made up of 15 girls and 10 boys. The demographic for my class is
seventy percent white, twenty percent African American, five percent Hispanic, and five percent
Chinese. My students all speak English fluently and the only special consideration is that thirty
percent of my students have slight to moderate ADHD. All of my students are in the first grade.
STATE YOUR OBJECTIVE- My students will learn their five senses during a five day
breakdown of each sense. We will cover one sense every day. By the end of the day today my
students will have learned the basics of sight and the associated body part that we use to see with
100 percent accuracy. My students will learn about sight by using various hands on and visual
activities during the day.
SELECT MEDIA / MATERIALS- I will be using a voki of a talking dog to introduce the
days’ lesson, a zunal WebQuest on introducing the five senses, and a Facebook page!
UTILIZE MATERIALS- To begin class I will use the WebQuest I created to introduce the
five senses and their body parts. I will then use the voki to introduce the specific sense of sight. I
will tell the students about “Sally Sight’s” Facebook page (a note will be sent home to parents
explaining).
REQUIRE PARTICIPATION- At the end of the day as the students are leaving they will be
verbally quizzed about some things you can see. Students will be creating their own voki about
sight, this way I can tell if they truly are learning.
EVALUATE AND REVISE- Students will have a Smart board group activity on things you
can see. Each student will write something on the Smart board that they used their eyes to see
during the day.
