The Assure Method: Friday
ANALYZE- My class is made up of 15 girls and 10 boys. The demographic for my class is
seventy percent white, twenty percent African American, five percent Hispanic, and five percent
Chinese. My students all speak English fluently and the only special consideration is that thirty
percent of my students have slight to moderate ADHD. All of my students are in the first grade.
STATE YOUR OBJECTIVE- My students will learn their five senses during a five day
breakdown of each sense. We will cover one sense every day. By the end of the day today my
students will have learned the basics of taste and the body part that we use to taste with 100
percent accuracy. My students will learn about taste by using various hands on and visual
activities during the day.
SELECT MEDIA / MATERIALS- Today we will begin by watching an introductory video for
the five senses. Next we will look at a WebQuest that explains our activity for the day. Last we
will reflect on the lesson using Twitter.
UTILIZE MATERIALS- We will watch a two minute video that I created that introduces all of
the senses, including taste. Next we will go over the instructions to our activity, using a
WebQuest that I created on Microsoft Word. Lastly, we will have a tweet that is sent out to the
parents that have twitter to remind their children to taste new foods.
REQUIRE LEARNER PARTICIPATION- Everyone has to at least attempt to try the foods
that we will be sampling for our activity, in order to get credit.
EVALUATE AND REVISE- We will be finishing our week long smart board activity (Stick it
to memory) today the last of the students will come up to the smart board to write some things
that they can taste.
