The Assure Method
ANALYZE- My class is made up of 10 boys and 7 girls. I have seventy percent white, twenty
percent African Americans, and ten percent Hispanic make up of my class demographics. My
students have special needs and seven of them have varying forms of ADHD, they are all in first
grade.
STATE YOUR OBJECTIVE- My students will learn the months of the year including
discovering how many months are in a year and the names of each month by having hands on
activities with calendars, films, and speak aloud sessions. They will learn the months of the year
by the end of the nine weeks with one hundred percent accuracy.
SELECT MEDIA / MATERIALS- I will be using a physical calendar for each student, fun and
educational films with sing along options to appeal to more of my students, and an interactive
lesson on the Smart board which requires them to be in teams and math the months to the
associated name.
UTILIZE MATERIALS- I will work on a daily basis during the duration the nine weeks using
my information and the Smart board (continuing to find new activities) with my students.
REQUIRE PARTICIPATION- Each student will recite the months of the year and have a
related homework assignment each night, repetition is key! In order for me to correctly evaluate
my students I am going to have them create a glogster / physical poster on the 12 months of the
year
2. EVALUATE AND REVISE- My students will answer oral questions during class and during
the lessons to check their knowledge and progress early
