How significant were the Republican policies in causing the great depression?
The significance of the republic policies were great, they brought a lot of growth in the 20 s allowing

The nature of industrialisation in the 1930s
The nature of industrialisation changed in the 1930s. In the 1920s industrialisation had occurred
because of free enterprise and big business. But with the onset of the Depression, industrial output fell
dramatically. (statistics needed). To combat this, the federal government adopted a role of directly
stimulating industrial growth. The Public Works Administration (PWA) instituted in began many large
industrial projects with the aim of spurring the economy and providing many jobs. The Tennessee
Valley Authority (TVA) was a federal project to energise the economy through a massive industrial
scheme sponsored by the federal government. Twenty five dams were built to reshape the land and
generate hydro electricity, which could further contribute to industrial growth. Another example of
government leadership of industry was the National Recovery Administration (NRA), which
attempted to foster industrial growth through the creation of codes for each industry. These federal
programs fundamentally changed the nature of industrialisation. In the 1930s, the government s
approach to industrialisation was more akin to socialist state style industrialisation than it was to the
American capitalism style industrialisation of the 1920s. Further, the federal government s

These include many easily recognizable phenomena, such as lightning and static electricity, but in

4. Electricity sources
People have been trying to solve the electricity issue when faced with an acute shortage of electricity,
so every country wants to increase power production in all possible ways. The most prolific source of
electric energy are the nuclear power plants, but the risk of a catastrophic event, such as Chernobyl in
1986, makes people think twice before accepting this kind of energy source. Of course there are other
ways of acquiring electrical energy, called alternative sources of energy. Wind energy, solar energy,
sea waves energy are the latest resources, but the technology for them is still developing so they can
be used only in a few countries. There are many reasons we are looking towards alternative energy
sources. With many countries, and US cities, signing the Kyoto Treaty, efforts to reduce pollutants and
greenhouse gases are a primary focus in today s culture. Alternative, or renewable energy, sources
show significant promise in helping to reduce the amount of toxins that are by products of energy use.
Not only do they protect against harmful by products, but using alternative energy helps to preserve
many of the natural resources that we

Blood Treatment Of Blood Transfusion Essay
Plasma, red blood cells, antigens, and antibodies are just some of the components of blood that have to
be studied before matching a donor and recipient for a blood transfusion. Blood transfusion is a
complex and long process that has a unique matching market of its own. In order to see if the blood is
a safe match, technicians have to check for compatible blood types (the most preferable is type O),
non matching antigens, and finally cross matching to see if the antibodies will attack the donor s cells.
All of this is done in a large market with blood from hundreds of thousands of donors. Due to the large
number of options and room for the match to be ineffective or be rejected, there are numerous
problems in this market. It is possible for there to be a mix up with the blood, or unknown factors
could arise where the donor and recipient end up being a bad mix. There is an arduous, difficult
process of making a match in this market, and this causes some problems that I will propose a few
solutions for. First, there are many terms involved with blood and transfusions that should be
understood before moving onto the substance of this essay. Some of the more important terms are
antigens, antibodies, ABO groups, and Rh. Antigens are proteins/carbohydrates that are able to be
recognized by our immune systems, then foreign antigens that the immune system detects are attacked
and destroyed by antibodies. Antibodies are present in everyone. They are molecules in the immune
system

The Murder In The Shadows Short Story Analysis
There are two fundamental characters in each work. In Poe s The Murders in the Rue Morgue, there
are the detective C. Auguste Dupin and the storyteller. In Rampo s The Beast in the Shadows, the
detective is called Akechi Kogoro and the storyteller lead the story. Poe presents the model of the
detective who is constantly sharp and carefully observe everything in The Murders in the Rue Morgue,
surprisingly. The characters in the two stories are similar. For instance, the two detectives almost have
the same hobby. I think that it is because of Dupin and Akechi do the same thing for a living as a
detective. Detectives are typically men of sharp perception and are great at inferring a conclusion.
Hence, the two like perusing books. In The Murders in the Rue Morgue, the storyteller outlines the
first run through when detective Dupin and the storyteller meet at the library where there are many
books. In The Beast in the Shadows , there is likewise a delineation of Akechi s room which is loaded
with various books. There is additionally a vital character: storyteller. In both of Poe and Rampo s
stories, the storyteller clarifies the entire story and infrequently shows the detectives and even their
contemplations. In The Murders in the Rue Morgue, the storyteller portrays Dupin s general qualities
like this: Observing him in these moods, I often dwelt meditatively upon the old philosophy of the Bi
Part Soul, and amused myself with the fancy of a double Dupin the creative and the

Coping Mechanisms In Drinking Habits By Banana Yoshimoto
Coping mechanisms vary greatly from person to person and are a defining factor in one s life. For this
reason, Banana Yoshimoto provides the theme that it is necessary to find positive coping mechanisms
in every situation to limit the despair one faces; she does this through her juxtaposition of Yuichi and
Mikage and the use of the scene where the two eat dinner together after Erikos death. Yoshimoto does
this through her use of Yuichi and his drinking habits on pages sixty through sixty three. Yoshimoto
opens the scene with Yuichi returning from the store where he bought food to make dinner with
Mikage. When Yuichi returns to the apartment he is carrying a bag which he lays down with a thud
(60), Yuichi then shares to Mikage that he bought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mikage accepts assistance from the Tenobis and uses this assistance to progress through her grief
faster and return to normalcy much faster than Yuichi can with his negative coping mechanisms. This
is important because it shows what one should do when put into an unfortunate circumstance. It also
shows that Yoshimoto wants people to behave like this despite it being out of the cultural norm.
Yoshimoto also shows how important it is to talk to people after the death of a loved one as Mikage
immediately accepts assistance from the Tenobis. Yuichi, on the other hand, refuses to call Mikage for
multiple months, only leading him to further

Why Jefferson Davis Won The Civil War
On April 2nd, Jefferson Davis, Southern President , fled his home and the Confederate capitol,
Richmond, Virginia after burning important documents. The fire spread accidentally from the
documents to the town, destroying many blocks of the city (See map on right). Davis had a train
scheduled to leave at 8:30 pm, but it didn t leave until 11:00 pm. He went to Danville, Virginia where
he is expected to be hiding out.
Davis got warned by Robert E. Lee that the Union army was coming to Richmond. The telegram said
I advise that all preparation be made for leaving Richmond tonight . Davis previously sent his family
away to safety, showing he might have assumed this would happen. However, he didn t plan for the
fire of the documents to spread to the town.
With Richmond burning, the Confederate leader in hiding, and the main Southern general failing in
many of the past battles, the South is in pieces, and it is no surprise the Union won this war. Southern
leaders, including Davis will most likely be charged with treason but what will be done with Southern
supporters is unknown at this point. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

as president was to bomb Fort Sumter when he saw Union ships coming to supply the fort. This is
recognized as the start of the war, so the Civil War was started by Jefferson Davis. When General
Robert E. Lee surrendered to General Ulysses S. Grant, Davis disagreed. He wanted the war to go on
long enough for the Union to get tired of it. We would not want to pay for it any longer, not want any
more casualties and eventually surrender. Surprisingly, it was his own star general who

The Current Population Of Newbai Essay
The current population of Newbai is three times what it was in 2016 with 7.292 million people living
here. The location[ is on the east coast of the UAE. When is this you may ask? 2216, the bicentennial
of Newbai s refunding! In what was known as Newbai. Newbai s temperature has dropped since 2016
(when the temperature average was 113o F), as the average for the year is now 79° F. This temp is due
to the fact that people over time have actually started caring about their environment and have started
using renewable resources more. Our Persian Gulf was utilized properly and filtered down into
drinkable water for our people. The 2016 water situation in the UAE was poor, to say the least. What
we ve done is bought 100 water filters (come one, the UAE is rich enough to afford this). Our treasury
has provided the funds to do this. This investment will be almost instantly returned when millions of
our tourists decide to stay because of our quality funding. From there the people have a choice, to stay
at our seven story mall which is equipped with the finest drinks. Such as Masafi, or our private
housing. Our population would ve been a lot larger if the UAE hadn t been as stingy. Our city is a
Mecca of sorts, it s an infrastructural holy grail! Our largest source of industry is shipping different
types of materials to the U.K and other first world nations. Our version of Newbai has incorporated

Theism in a Postmodern World
Theism in a Postmodern World by Billy Bush Religious Worldviews RELS 402 Professor W. C.
Calhoun June 22, 2009 Abstract In today s postmodern world, ideals of being consumed with self and
self appropriated ideas of truth leave God forgotten and to them, God is dead. This same thought
process see s no reason or logic to bring God into the picture let alone into their lives. The pervasive
postmodern worldview today includes precepts such that self decides who we become, as well as, is
not necessary to have a God who should be in control of our lives. It is difficult for a Christian to live
out his theistic worldview in today s postmodern world, but it can be done because of our beliefs in

(John 3:16, NIV). Many people ask If God is just, why is there evil? (Forte, 2003). The answer to this
is simple, evil exists because humans choose to disobey and fall into sin. The disobedience of man is
the original cause and current cause of evil in this world, not God. Christian theism includes what
happens to a person when they die. For each person death is either the gate to life with God and His
people or the gate to eternal separation from the only thing that will ultimately fulfill human
aspirations (Sire, 2004). Inevitably, there are only two destination choices; either we will go to heaven
or hell. Hell was not only created by God for Satan and those angels who chose to defy God s will but
also for those who have chosen to reject Christ s love and to follow Him. Christian theism defines how
ethics relates to the role of humans. Ethics is transcendent and is based on the character of God as
good [holy and loving] (Sire, 2004). Theism teaches the universe is moral and there is an absolute
standard by which we should all judge things. God is the standard and all issues should be judged next
to His standard. Christian Theism teaches us, History is linear, a meaningful sequence of events
leading to the fulfillment of God s purposes for humanity (Sire, 2004). History, as we know, began
when God created this world. History is not simply a story seen as possibly or potentially true,
depending upon from who

What Is The Failure Of Nokia
Nokia Corporation
Nokia Corporation is one of the world s largest vendor of mobile phones from 1998 to 2012. At
Nokia, they are committed to connecting people around the world through technology. From 2014,
Nokia reorganized its structure into four category of business groups: Mobile Phones, Multimedia,
Enterprise Solutions, and Networks. Nokia operates 15 manufacturing facilities in nine countries and
maintains research and development facilities in 12 countries (Reference For Business, n.d.).
In 1865, Nokia first started its operation as a paper mill by a Finnish engineer, Fredrik Idestam, at the
Tammerkoski Rapids in Southern Finland. The name Nokia was inspired by the location of his second
mill which was built on the banks of the Nokianvirta river in 1868. The firm was transformed into a
share company with Leo Mechelin in 1871. Towards the end of 19th century, the company expanded
into the electronic business segment. Meanwhile, Eduard Polon established Finnish Rubber Works in
1898 and Arvid, Wickstrom started operation for Finnish Cable Work in 1912. The three companies

One of the reasons were the management s reluctance to change due to the risk involved in software
changing. Nokia underestimated the importance of the transition to smartphones, after all, most of
their profits earned in the mobile phone industry in 2007 were not coming from smartphones segment.
Allocating a lot of resources into a high end, low volume business would have seemed risky.
Therefore, Nokia s failure resulted from an institutional reluctance to transit into a new era. Another
mistake that Nokia committed was to overestimate the strength of its brand, believing that they would
be able to catch up in the smartphone competition even if they were late. Nokia continued to insist that
its superior hardware designs would win over

Jules Feiffer s Little Murders
Little Murders written by Jules Feiffer in 1969 is unlike any other play of its time. Originally written
as a comedy and produced on Broadway it has since then been reproduced many times with all sorts
of twists. Little Murders is set in New York City in the middle of a crime spree in the 1960 s. The two
main characters both are apart of a dysfunctional couple. Patsy Newquist and Alfred Chamberlin have
somewhat reversed gender roles. Patsy, like her family, is eccentric. At this time in New York City
people are being mugged and killed everyday, they fear for their lives. Several times throughout the
play the Newquist family hears gunshots just outside their apartment. Patsy, my character, is a classic

Religious Influence On Kristallnacht
Kristallnacht was one of the most horrible nights for the Jewish people . Kristallnacht is now known
as the Night of Broken Glass because of all the broken glass in the Jewish shops and homes. Many
different aspects of the Jewish people were affected on Kristallnacht ; religiously, physically and
financially. One aspect of Jewish lives were affected on Kristallnacht through their religion. On
Kristallnacht Jewish synagogues were burned with torches as shown in the picture Synagogue Burning

November 1938 are the instructions that tell officers and many other government officials what to do

Reflective Essay Work
When it comes to work, most of my work is comprised of personal projects or school work I don t
have a job in the sense of something that will make me money. I work best when i am told exactly
what my tasks will be and when I have to do them. I can do self directed work, but it is harder for me.
I think it s because when there is someone who is telling me that a certain task is essential, I am afraid
of what will happen if I don t meet the deadline, whereas I don t scare myself as much. As for the the
specific kinds of work I like to do, I enjoy working with both my hands and my mind equally. I don t
enjoy super labor intensive jobs, but I like jobs where I still get to create something. That said, I also
need proof that what I am doing is actually productive, and worth something. What I make does not
have to be a physical object, but I wouldn t be able to stand a job where I know what I do might not
even be used. I do not have an official job. All of the work that I have done has either been for school
or for myself, and a lot of my personal projects are writing or art based, since I want them to lead
directly into practicing skills for a possible future career. These things might not be considered work,
but they are still productive, and the fact that I have thought about how these activities might lead into
a future career might suggest that I have thought about how much effort and time getting and working
at that career will take. In fact, I have both over and

The Social Center For Lgbt Youth
The research question that facilitated our asset map was simply What social outlets are available for
LGBT youth in the greater Los Angeles area? . We chose this question because the majority of the
young people receiving services at our site are homeless, and as everyone knows, homelessness is a
condition that can quickly lead to despair. We firmly believed that locating LGBT themed social
gatherings, groups, and organizations would be an essential step in pointing these youths towards
systems of support that could help make their difficult circumstances more bearable.
Also, it was vital for us to focus only on social outlets that were LGBT centric for these young people,
being marginalized members of an already marginalized community, the homeless have distinct needs
that other individuals don t. And when these needs aren t met, the consequences can be tragic.
Research shows that approximately 62 percent of homeless LGBT youth attempt suicide (Center for
American Progress, 2010). Before we began our work, officials at our site informed us that they did
not have a list of social outlets for the clients, which made our asset map that much more important.
We drew the boundaries of the map around the greater Los Angeles area. This decision was made
because many of the clients, being homeless, do not have the means to go far distances. It would have
been useless to include social outlets in San Diego, for instance. As far as our criteria for choosing
assets, we included

Nuclear Weapons Should Be Carried Out
The definition of a weapon of mass destruction is a chemical, biological or radioactive weapon
capable of causing widespread death and destruction (Farlex).Nuclear weapons are the most
destructive weapons the world has ever seen. They get their explosive power from transforming matter
into energy. Nuclear weapons are classified as chemical, biological and radioactive weapons of mass
destruction (FBI). Many people have venture in that their sizable power used during wars could
destroy human development as we know it. The nations of the world have long request ways to
standstill, limit, and slaughter these weapons of mass destruction and keep the use of them out of
wars. The program of abolishing nuclear weapons should be carried out. I want nuclear weapons
abolish so we won t destroy ourselves, and stop terrorist from getting their hands on these weapons of
mass destruction and destroying civilization as we know it and to prevent further damage.
There are two types of nuclear weapons. Fission weapons, also called atomic weapons or atomic
bombs, do so through the splitting of the nuclei of certain isotopes in the elements uranium and
plutonium (Fission Device). When a neutron hits the nucleus of a uranium or plutonium atom in a
certain way, the atom splits and releases a large amount of energy and two or three other neutrons.
These neutrons then split other atoms, causing an explosive chain reaction (How Does It Work). The
second type of nuclear weapon is the thermonuclear

Dale Carnegie s How To Win Friends And Influence People

The Rational Decision Making Model Essay
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The purpose of this report is to provide feedback on administrative and public policy violation issues
in the city of Crestview located in Okaloosa County, Florida. The report analyzes public policy
violations, City Council member adjudication, transparency, and leadership issues in the City of
Crestview. The report uses various research methods to gather data to help formulate the conclusion
and recommendations of the report.
The rational decision making model is utilized to make the best decision possible. The rational
decision making model is the best known prescriptive model; the model involves several sequential
steps: identifying the problem, determining the goals and objectives, identifying and evaluating
alternative policies, choosing from the alternatives, recommending actions, implementation, and
evaluation (Smith, 2014). The use of this model is justified as it provides structure and sequence to the
choices of the decision maker. The model helps ensure key indicators can be fully considered in a
logical manner.
It is recommended that the administration create new procedures and implement trainings or classes to
educate City Council members, employees and other city officials on new public policies as well as
the Sunshine Law. These trainings will outline laws, policies and ordinances as well as target times for
legislators to move any issue from the systemic agenda to the formal agenda; this policy should allow

Usually, just right after the New Year s celebration, many of us start looking at the resolutions we
made and, if you re like many people, yours probably resemble more of a grocery list: You want to

A typical scenario might be like this: You ll look at this laundry list of New Year s resolutions and you
would pick a goal, let s say one of your goals is to be proficient at the guitar. Then, what you may do
is you would buy a book on how to play a guitar, maybe buy a how to DVD and start practicing at

What s So Amazing about Grace? Book Report What s So Amazing about Grace? is a book written by
Philip Yancey. It begins with a twisted story of a prostitute living on the streets. She is unable to feed
her two year old child and has to find another way to earn money. She could not think of any other
alternatives and began selling her child out for prostitution. She could make much more money this
way than she could in one night. The woman began counseling and when asked if she had ever

gift to others. Just as Jesus gave us the gift of grace by suffering and dying on the cross for us, we
should be able to give gifts of grace at our own expense to others. I very much enjoyed this book and
was spiritually moved by it. I agree with most of what Philip Yancey has to say about lack of grace not
only in the church, but in the world also. In today s day and age, it seems that everyone is in it for
themselves. Most do not take the time of day to stop and give their grace to the needy. It helped to
strengthen my view that all of deserving of grace and that we, as Christians, should be reading to give
our grace to others. While I do support that idea that we need to cure the world of ungrace , I do not
feel that we need to do this in order to earn God s grace. This is a view that Yancey supports in the
book and I do not happen to agree with it. Grace is in fact, a gift and it is not something we have to
earn by giving other s grace. By following God s example, we should also give others this same grace
God gave us, but it is not a requirement in order for us to receive His grace. Overall, I feel spiritually
strengthened by

The Space Race Determining Factor To Technologically...
After World War II ended, a new conflict started, known as the Cold War, this battle was between the
United States and the Soviet Union for superiority. Beginning in the late 1950s, space would be
another battleground for these superpowers. Not only were they going to battle on ground but also in
what seemed impossible at the time which was space. Due to this new competition many
technological advancements were made. So, to what extent was the space race the determining factor
to technologically improve space travel?
The US and Soviet Union were both making many technological advances within their countries that
made this race to space competitive. Competition is something the Soviet union and the US have
always had between them, and would continue to have throughout the Cold war. The desperation to be
ahead of one another really was a huge issue. They were not only competing to be technologically
advanced but they also wanted to improve their strategic advances towards having control of one
another. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kennedy before a joint session of Congress on May 25, 1961, set the stage for the nation s emerging
space program. The goal took what was Kennedy Space Center from a testing ground for new rockets
to a center successful at launching humans to the moon. From this source we can see how far the US
space program has gone it started off with only a small space center that was just testing ground for
rockets. Technological advancement and motivation made this program grow into a broader program

The Disease Of Cystic Fibrosis
My research paper is going to be on the disease Cystic Fibrosis. Before I begin I want to
explain a little background as to why I chose this topic. My brother in law s brother lost his life
at the age of 23 to this disease and it was extremely harsh for the family, even knowing this
disease is incurable. It s one of those rare diseases that we cannot cure as of yet but many
doctors do research on how to overcome this. Just like any other incurable disease.
What is Cystic Fibrosis? The name of it can be broken down into medical word
terminology. Cystic means pertaining to cysts or characterization of them. Fibrosis means the
abnormal condition of fibrous tissue in an organ. This disease affects the lungs and the ability to

The pancreas also
helps make enzymes that digest food. When you have Cystic Fibrosis, the level of mucus ends
up blocking the ducts of the pancreas, reducing production of insulin and prevents digestive
enzymes from reaching the intestines to help with the digestive process. When you have
problems in your digestive system this can lead to diarrhea, malnutrition, poor growth and even
weight loss.
The history of Cystic Fibrosis dates back to the 1930 s. People would realize that
children with salty skin often died in infancy and younger ages. The disease was first named
in 1936 by pediatrician Guido Fanconi. A profile published by a Dorothy Hansine in 1938,
described the characteristics and symptoms of this disease and what exact organs it relates to.
However, this did not help prolong nor solve the issue or help assist in any treatments at the
time. It was finally discovered in 1949 by Dr. Anderson, that Cystic Fibrosis was a recessive
mutant gene. More advances were not made until the 1980 s when researchers discovered
organ damage and the malfunctioning of the epithelial tissue were caused by this disease called
Cystic Fibrosis . ( Who discovered Cystic Fibrosis? Page 1, http://reliawire.com/who
discovered cystic fibrosis/). In the 1950 s it was noticed at that time that patients were
suffering from excessive dehydration who were diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. This was

The Revolution Of The United States Government
Based on the information provided to me from the text, and my own personal thoughts, I am a firm
believer that we are in a revolution at this day in age, and will always continue to be in a revolution so
long as the human race is here. I believe that being human, means you re always changing and society
is always revolving. As there are countless revolutions occuring at this time... I will like to state a few
that I have personally witnessed. These are: a political revolution, describing the never ending changes
in the United States Government; and a cultural revolution, a fairly old revolution that has been
gaining momentum in the past few decades.
As stated in the text, a revolution is ironic! There will ALWAYS be a problem; as one is ... Show more

As time continued, this battle played on every 4 years during each presidential election. Today, we see
this 200 year old revolution still continue in the 2016 election and now. The Republicans (Trump),
wanted a weaker government where taxes were reduced and many government programs were
defunded. He wanted to emphasize greater security by bumping up our Department of Defense
spending and banning refugees from Muslim dominate countries. The Democrats (Clinton)
emphasized a strong central government, where taxes were raised. They leaned more towards
freedoms, instead of securities. They wanted to continue to defund our military spending and fight for
civil issues such as DAPL, Pro choice on Abortions, and etc. We as a nation went from a government
controlled mostly by Democrats a few years ago, to a government being controlled by Republicans.
Even as the election has passed, and recorded in history, the turmoil of the recent changes have only
begun. However, this is what our government was set up to be, so that no matter how much we
change... how much the people s perspectives change, we will still have a foundation of human rights
and ethics that is unaimiously aggreed upon to keep America going. Another revolution that has been

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Outliers
Rhetorical Analysis An outlier: a person or thing differing from all members of a group or set. Quite
the defining name for Malcolm Gladwell s book the Outliers. Gladwell argues against our daily belief
of a successors successes. Throughout his examples in the book, Gladwell starts off by retelling the
assumed story behind a person success. Then goes and re examines each story in such a detail matter,
that he pinpoints the unknown facts that led to that person success. Gladwell unmasked our so called
big shoots in our nation through a series of factual, ethical, and emotional evidence. He uses a
structured balance between logos, and ethos to truly define an outlier in our society. In the first chapter

The Consequences Of Change In The Lovely Bones And La La Land
The Consequences of change have been moulded through the two texts The Lovely Bones, written by
Alice Sebold (2002) and La La Land, directed by Damien Chazelle (2016) and have shaped the
audiences understanding through the aspects of change and its consequences though key themes that
are showcases in both texts. These themes can be narrowed down to person, place and event.
Susie and her father Mr. Salmon both throughout the novel The Lovely Bones written by Alice Sebold
(2002) change each other as a consequence of Susie s murder. Alice Sebold uses Negative tone and
Hyperbole literary techniques to demonstrate the change between Susie and her father through the
Narration by Susie about Mr. Salmon for example when Susie talks about how Mr. Salmon was crazy
with grief and had gone out to the cornfield seeking revenge . Through the use of these Techniques
Alice Sebold tugs on the emotions of the audience and allows them to reflect on the change in the
Salmon household between losing a daughter and wanting to gain closure and as a consequence of this
the audience become torn between two decisions and Alice Sebold enables the audience to consider
their life morals. All through the text Alice Sebold grants the audience the understanding to the
concept of change and these examples help the audience to mould their thinking through her use of
various literary techniques.
Mia played by Emma Stone changes throughout the film La La Land, directed by Damien Chazelle
(2016) because of her willingness to chase her dreams, and as a consequence her dreams and
personality change. Damien Chazelle uses contrasting in colours and juxtaposition as visual and
literary techniques to demonstrate consequences of change to the audience. All through the film Mia s
(Emma Stone) outfit s and personality change as a consequence of meeting Sebastian (Ryan Gosling)
and falling in love. This is depicted through colours and the audience can see how her outfits change
from solid bright colours to mature colours and more adult like clothing choices as a consequence of
her changing as a person form her relationship with Sebastian. This allows the audience to ponder on

Censorship And The Media Of Censorship
Privacy is viewed differently by different people, the same can be said about censorship. Censorship
and privacy do not solely revolve around leaks and personal intrusions from foreign entities. The
advent of social media and cell phones have created new avenues for people to communicate and
share information; The internet provides people a new and global way to spread information that can
be considered worthy of censorship. Many people I know argue that censorship should not be
commonplace in the media, in social media, or even in the entire Internet. Public s right to privacy and
censorship awareness is a very real thing we should come to realize and analyze. Censorship affects
the public in very real ways, it can both aid and deter the spread of propaganda. People need to
consider what type of information is being spread through these outlets. Focused on how people
perceived as such actions with fear and uneasiness, it s fair to note that contrast between censoring and
right to freely spread information. It can lead to an increase in violation claims from those attitudes. If
people feel uncertain about the benefits of censorship, then they are more willing to point out the
flaws in it. The public s view towards the subject matter greatly influences on how well the issue is
addressed in society. It s not only federal and state institutions that may participate in censoring what
goes on the internet, nor is it just the media putting a spin to spread entertaining

Gender Equality And Gender Differences Of The Play Top...
The plays Top Girls and A Streetcar Named Desire are written in ways that explore the issues
surrounding gender equality and gender differences. Churchill explores the ideas of a feminist utopia
where the men and women live in separate spheres which are prescribed to suit the stereotypical roles
of the genders. For example at this time power dressing was a real strategy used by the new breed of
feminists struggling for identity in society. We learn about the relationship between women and
working. However, Williams s characters in A StreetCar Named Desire crucially succumb to the
prescribed gender roles where the women are expected to be meekly obedient in a patriarchal society
ruled by the opposite sex.
Top Girls is set in the early 1980 s, and mainly plays with two main concerns travelling around the
1980 s feminism and socialism. We unravel a great number of ideas within the novel that mirror the
characters rejection of their gender roles. The theme in Top Girls is mostly addressing the ideologies
around feminism at a significant time. This is portrayed in a direct manner and tone which veer from
bizarre and dreamlike to mundane and give us an insight of the contemporary events going on outside
of the play. The time this play was written holds high importance as it was the time of power dressing
and was a real up lift for women struggling for identity in modern society.
Churchill portrays the central protagonist Marlene as representing the rise of women s

The Pros And Cons Of Social Medias
Bhabish Subedi Sherry sharifian Govt 2305 14 November 2017 Social Medias and US Presidency
Social medias are the cooperative enterprises of online means of connection between people where
people share their ideas, thoughts as well as images. Some of the examples of social medias are social
networking medias such as Facebook, twitter, yahoo, Gmail, google plus and many more. Nowadays
different people have different way of living. They don t hesitate to speak. They share their sorrows,
their misunderstanding, their success all through social medias. Previously people used to
communicate through paper letters. Because of the advancement of science and technology people
started using electronic mailing system where they used to communicate and share their thought. But
Nowadays people are using Facebook as well as twitter for sharing their thoughts. Our president and
vice president use twitter for sharing their thought and ideas. Similarly, nowadays people are using
social medias just to show off where they post different types of information that is wrong or
information that gives double meaning where people want to say something, but people understand
different meaning. Dallas police tweeted that they have arrested famous footballer cornerback of
Denver broncos Aqib talab for public intoxication, but later on again Dallas police tweeted an apology
saying that the guy they had arrested was not Aqib talab but his younger brother. There are other

this song has.
The first poetic device that I found in the first line Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock (1). Every

Cultural Dimensions, Business Practices And Business...
Abstract
This paper serves a purpose of examining the Hofstede s Cultural Dimensions and using such
measurement to compare the cultural values of Canada and the United States. It will look deeper into
the cultural dimensions, business practices and business etiquette. This paper will also provide
information of both countries and where they stand on the dimensions and the reason why. Hofstede
decided that when two people interact with each other within an organization, culture characterizes
their behavior and attitude towards others. Psychology Hofstede had published his cultural dimension
s model at the end of the 1970s. In more than fifty countries Hofstede studied the people that worked
for IBM. The dimensions collectively portray the impact of the culture in the society on the values of
the members of the society. The description of the relationship between the values and the behavior

Review and Conceptual Framework in Journal of Economics, Finance Administrative Science, Geert

The Human Development Index Is a Better Measure of...
I will advance the thesis that the Human Development Index (HDI) is a better measure of economic
performance than the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita. By saying that the HDI is a better
system to measure economic performance, I mean that because the HDI highlights the trend between
longevity, education and economic growth, it calculates a better analysis of an economy (Costa,
Steckel 1997, p. 71). In contrast, the GDP per capita only accounts for the gross domestic product
without paying any attention to other factors of an economy (Hawthorn, Sen 1997, p. 60). With this
being said, my thesis asserts that the HDI is a better measure for economic performance because it
considers significant factors that play large roles in an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I just defended the importance of considering longevity in an economy, I will now explain why it is
imperative to consider education when calculating the development and performance of an economy.
To begin, when a population is educated they will have the opportunity to adapt new technology and
new ideas to enhance their productivity and output, which is an essential part of competing against
other economies in the international arena. To be more specific, when a population is able to adapt
new technology and idea they increase their speed of production, which, in turn, increases their output,
which means, in simple terms, new technology and ideas increase an economy s growth because it
allows them to produce more, faster and trade more, faster. This is best explained in Invest in Humans,
Technological Diffusion, and Economic Growth that says, the better educated farmer is quicker to
adopt profitable new processes and products since, for him, the expected payoff from innovation is
likely to be greater and the risk likely to be smaller; for he is better able to discriminate between
promising and unpromising ideas, and hence les likely to make mistakes (Nelson, Phelps 1966, p.70) ,
while the less educated farmer is prudent to delay the introduction of new technology until he has
concrete evidence of its profitability, which is often from his

As a result, oftentimes young girls strongly identify with princess culture and even into adulthood we
not only blindly seek our own happily ever after but we assume that girls innately love princesses,
dress up, and anything magical, making children even more susceptible to gender stereotypes. Many
of the classic Disney movies spend a great portion of their screen time painting its leading female
character as a damsel in distress. This princess culture suggests that despite other defining
characteristics, a females most valuable asset is her beauty above all else. These Disney movies also
imply that girls should be sweet despite the lousy hand they were dealt.
Sleeping Beauty is indeed beautiful and sweet, but spends most her movie hiding, and as a result, ends
up waiting hand and foot on seven dwarfs who aren t always kind instead of fighting for her kingdom.
Cinderella was so set on getting away from her evil step mother that she swans off with a prince she

the harm that they cause to everything around them.
First, I will be informing you about invasive species. Some invasive species do not cause much harm,
due to the fact they re alien to the place. They aren t adapted to the environment. A way they could

The nature of industrialisation in the 1930s The nature of industrialisation changed in the 1930s. In the 1920s industrialisation had occurred because of free enterprise and big business. But with the onset of the Depression, industrial output fell dramatically. (statistics needed). To combat this, the federal government adopted a role of directly stimulating industrial growth. The Public Works Administration (PWA) instituted in began many large industrial projects with the aim of spurring the economy and providing many jobs. The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) was a federal project to energise the economy through a massive industrial scheme sponsored by the federal government. Twenty five dams were built to reshape the land and generate hydro electricity, which could further contribute to industrial growth. Another example of government leadership of industry was the National Recovery Administration (NRA), which attempted to foster industrial growth through the creation of codes for each industry. These federal programs fundamentally changed the nature of industrialisation. In the 1930s, the government s approach to industrialisation was more akin to socialist state style industrialisation than it was to the American capitalism style industrialisation of the 1920s. The most prolific source of electric energy are the nuclear power plants, but the risk of a catastrophic event, such as Chernobyl in 1986, makes people think twice before accepting this kind of energy source. Of course there are other ways of acquiring electrical energy, called alternative sources of energy. Wind energy, solar energy, sea waves energy are the latest resources, but the technology for them is still developing so they can be used only in a few countries. There are many reasons we are looking towards alternative energy sources. With many countries, and US cities, signing the Kyoto Treaty, efforts to reduce pollutants and

  • 5. Blood Treatment Of Blood Transfusion Essay Plasma, red blood cells, antigens, and antibodies are just some of the components of blood that have to be studied before matching a donor and recipient for a blood transfusion. Blood transfusion is a complex and long process that has a unique matching market of its own. In order to see if the blood is a safe match, technicians have to check for compatible blood types (the most preferable is type O), non matching antigens, and finally cross matching to see if the antibodies will attack the donor s cells. All of this is done in a large market with blood from hundreds of thousands of donors. Due to the large number of options and room for the match to be ineffective or be rejected, there are numerous problems in this market. It is possible for there to be a mix up with the blood, or unknown factors could arise where the donor and recipient end up being a bad mix. There is an arduous, difficult process of making a match in this market, and this causes some problems that I will propose a few solutions for. First, there are many terms involved with blood and transfusions that should be understood before moving onto the substance of this essay. Some of the more important terms are antigens, antibodies, ABO groups, and Rh. Antigens are proteins/carbohydrates that are able to be recognized by our immune systems, then foreign antigens that the immune system detects are attacked and destroyed by antibodies. Antibodies are present in everyone. They are molecules in the immune system ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Murder In The Shadows Short Story Analysis There are two fundamental characters in each work. In Poe s The Murders in the Rue Morgue, there are the detective C. Auguste Dupin and the storyteller. In Rampo s The Beast in the Shadows, the detective is called Akechi Kogoro and the storyteller lead the story. Poe presents the model of the detective who is constantly sharp and carefully observe everything in The Murders in the Rue Morgue, surprisingly. The characters in the two stories are similar. For instance, the two detectives almost have the same hobby. I think that it is because of Dupin and Akechi do the same thing for a living as a detective. Detectives are typically men of sharp perception and are great at inferring a conclusion. Hence, the two like perusing books. In The Murders in the Rue Morgue, the storyteller outlines the first run through when detective Dupin and the storyteller meet at the library where there are many books. In The Beast in the Shadows , there is likewise a delineation of Akechi s room which is loaded with various books. There is additionally a vital character: storyteller. In both of Poe and Rampo s stories, the storyteller clarifies the entire story and infrequently shows the detectives and even their contemplations. In The Murders in the Rue Morgue, the storyteller portrays Dupin s general qualities like this: Observing him in these moods, I often dwelt meditatively upon the old philosophy of the Bi Part Soul, and amused myself with the fancy of a double Dupin the creative and the ... • 7. Coping Mechanisms In Drinking Habits By Banana Yoshimoto Coping mechanisms vary greatly from person to person and are a defining factor in one s life. For this reason, Banana Yoshimoto provides the theme that it is necessary to find positive coping mechanisms in every situation to limit the despair one faces; she does this through her juxtaposition of Yuichi and Mikage and the use of the scene where the two eat dinner together after Erikos death. Yoshimoto does this through her use of Yuichi and his drinking habits on pages sixty through sixty three. Yoshimoto opens the scene with Yuichi returning from the store where he bought food to make dinner with Mikage. • 8. Why Jefferson Davis Won The Civil War On April 2nd, Jefferson Davis, Southern President , fled his home and the Confederate capitol, Richmond, Virginia after burning important documents. The fire spread accidentally from the documents to the town, destroying many blocks of the city (See map on right). Davis had a train scheduled to leave at 8:30 pm, but it didn t leave until 11:00 pm. He went to Danville, Virginia where he is expected to be hiding out. Davis got warned by Robert E. Lee that the Union army was coming to Richmond. The telegram said I advise that all preparation be made for leaving Richmond tonight . Davis previously sent his family away to safety, showing he might have assumed this would happen. However, he didn t plan for the fire of the documents to spread to the town. With Richmond burning, the Confederate leader in hiding, and the main Southern general failing in many of the past battles, the South is in pieces, and it is no surprise the Union won this war. Southern leaders, including Davis will most likely be charged with treason but what will be done with Southern supporters is unknown at this point. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When is this you may ask? 2216, the bicentennial of Newbai s refunding! In what was known as Newbai. Newbai s temperature has dropped since 2016 (when the temperature average was 113o F), as the average for the year is now 79° F. This temp is due to the fact that people over time have actually started caring about their environment and have started using renewable resources more. Our Persian Gulf was utilized properly and filtered down into drinkable water for our people. The 2016 water situation in the UAE was poor, to say the least. What we ve done is bought 100 water filters (come one, the UAE is rich enough to afford this). Our treasury has provided the funds to do this. This investment will be almost instantly returned when millions of our tourists decide to stay because of our quality funding. From there the people have a choice, to stay at our seven story mall which is equipped with the finest drinks. Such as Masafi, or our private housing. • 10. Theism in a Postmodern World Theism in a Postmodern World by Billy Bush Religious Worldviews RELS 402 Professor W. C. Calhoun June 22, 2009 Abstract In today s postmodern world, ideals of being consumed with self and self appropriated ideas of truth leave God forgotten and to them, God is dead. This same thought process see s no reason or logic to bring God into the picture let alone into their lives. The pervasive postmodern worldview today includes precepts such that self decides who we become, as well as, is not necessary to have a God who should be in control of our lives. It is difficult for a Christian to live out his theistic worldview in today s postmodern world, but it can be done because of our beliefs in God. Like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (John 3:16, NIV). Many people ask If God is just, why is there evil? (Forte, 2003). The answer to this is simple, evil exists because humans choose to disobey and fall into sin. The disobedience of man is the original cause and current cause of evil in this world, not God. Christian theism includes what happens to a person when they die. For each person death is either the gate to life with God and His people or the gate to eternal separation from the only thing that will ultimately fulfill human aspirations (Sire, 2004). Inevitably, there are only two destination choices; either we will go to heaven or hell. Hell was not only created by God for Satan and those angels who chose to defy God s will but also for those who have chosen to reject Christ s love and to follow Him. Christian theism defines how ethics relates to the role of humans. Ethics is transcendent and is based on the character of God as good [holy and loving] (Sire, 2004). Theism teaches the universe is moral and there is an absolute standard by which we should all judge things. God is the standard and all issues should be judged next to His standard. Christian Theism teaches us, History is linear, a meaningful sequence of events leading to the fulfillment of God s purposes for humanity (Sire, 2004). History, as we know, began when God created this world. History is not simply a story seen as possibly or potentially true, depending upon from who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At Nokia, they are committed to connecting people around the world through technology. From 2014, Nokia reorganized its structure into four category of business groups: Mobile Phones, Multimedia, Enterprise Solutions, and Networks. Nokia operates 15 manufacturing facilities in nine countries and maintains research and development facilities in 12 countries (Reference For Business, n.d.). In 1865, Nokia first started its operation as a paper mill by a Finnish engineer, Fredrik Idestam, at the Tammerkoski Rapids in Southern Finland. The name Nokia was inspired by the location of his second mill which was built on the banks of the Nokianvirta river in 1868. The firm was transformed into a share company with Leo Mechelin in 1871. Towards the end of 19th century, the company expanded into the electronic business segment. I work best when i am told exactly what my tasks will be and when I have to do them. I can do self directed work, but it is harder for me. I think it s because when there is someone who is telling me that a certain task is essential, I am afraid of what will happen if I don t meet the deadline, whereas I don t scare myself as much. As for the the specific kinds of work I like to do, I enjoy working with both my hands and my mind equally. I don t enjoy super labor intensive jobs, but I like jobs where I still get to create something. That said, I also need proof that what I am doing is actually productive, and worth something. What I make does not have to be a physical object, but I wouldn t be able to stand a job where I know what I do might not even be used. I do not have an official job. All of the work that I have done has either been for school or for myself, and a lot of my personal projects are writing or art based, since I want them to lead directly into practicing skills for a possible future career. These things might not be considered work, but they are still productive, and the fact that I have thought about how these activities might lead into a future career might suggest that I have thought about how much effort and time getting and working at that career will take. • 15. The Social Center For Lgbt Youth The research question that facilitated our asset map was simply What social outlets are available for LGBT youth in the greater Los Angeles area? . We chose this question because the majority of the young people receiving services at our site are homeless, and as everyone knows, homelessness is a condition that can quickly lead to despair. We firmly believed that locating LGBT themed social gatherings, groups, and organizations would be an essential step in pointing these youths towards systems of support that could help make their difficult circumstances more bearable. Also, it was vital for us to focus only on social outlets that were LGBT centric for these young people, being marginalized members of an already marginalized community, the homeless have distinct needs that other individuals don t. And when these needs aren t met, the consequences can be tragic. Research shows that approximately 62 percent of homeless LGBT youth attempt suicide (Center for American Progress, 2010). Before we began our work, officials at our site informed us that they did not have a list of social outlets for the clients, which made our asset map that much more important. We drew the boundaries of the map around the greater Los Angeles area. This decision was made because many of the clients, being homeless, do not have the means to go far distances. It would have been useless to include social outlets in San Diego, for instance. As far as our criteria for choosing assets, we included ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Rational Decision Making Model Essay EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The purpose of this report is to provide feedback on administrative and public policy violation issues in the city of Crestview located in Okaloosa County, Florida. The report analyzes public policy violations, City Council member adjudication, transparency, and leadership issues in the City of Crestview. The report uses various research methods to gather data to help formulate the conclusion and recommendations of the report. The rational decision making model is utilized to make the best decision possible. The rational decision making model is the best known prescriptive model; the model involves several sequential steps: identifying the problem, determining the goals and objectives, identifying and evaluating alternative policies, choosing from the alternatives, recommending actions, implementation, and evaluation (Smith, 2014). The use of this model is justified as it provides structure and sequence to the choices of the decision maker. The model helps ensure key indicators can be fully considered in a logical manner. It is recommended that the administration create new procedures and implement trainings or classes to educate City Council members, employees and other city officials on new public policies as well as the Sunshine Law. Book Report What s So Amazing about Grace? is a book written by Philip Yancey. It begins with a twisted story of a prostitute living on the streets. She is unable to feed her two year old child and has to find another way to earn money. She could not think of any other alternatives and began selling her child out for prostitution. She could make much more money this way than she could in one night. There are none who are not deserving or worthy of our grace. This is important for us to remember. It is true that grace does not come easy, and that it is not necessarily easy to give. Grace is not a small display of kindness; it is a sacrifice and a gift to others. Just as Jesus gave us the gift of grace by suffering and dying on the cross for us, we should be able to give gifts of grace at our own expense to others. I very much enjoyed this book and was spiritually moved by it. I agree with most of what Philip Yancey has to say about lack of grace not only in the church, but in the world also. In today s day and age, it seems that everyone is in it for themselves. Most do not take the time of day to stop and give their grace to the needy. It helped to strengthen my view that all of deserving of grace and that we, as Christians, should be reading to give our grace to others. While I do support that idea that we need to cure the world of ungrace , I do not feel that we need to do this in order to earn God s grace. This is a view that Yancey supports in the book and I do not happen to agree with it. Grace is in fact, a gift and it is not something we have to earn by giving other s grace. By following God s example, we should also give others this same grace God gave us, but it is not a requirement in order for us to receive His grace. Overall, I feel spiritually strengthened by ... Censorship and privacy do not solely revolve around leaks and personal intrusions from foreign entities. The advent of social media and cell phones have created new avenues for people to communicate and share information; The internet provides people a new and global way to spread information that can be considered worthy of censorship. Many people I know argue that censorship should not be commonplace in the media, in social media, or even in the entire Internet. Public s right to privacy and censorship awareness is a very real thing we should come to realize and analyze. Censorship affects the public in very real ways, it can both aid and deter the spread of propaganda. People need to consider what type of information is being spread through these outlets. Focused on how people perceived as such actions with fear and uneasiness, it s fair to note that contrast between censoring and right to freely spread information. It can lead to an increase in violation claims from those attitudes. If people feel uncertain about the benefits of censorship, then they are more willing to point out the flaws in it. The plays Top Girls and A Streetcar Named Desire are written in ways that explore the issues surrounding gender equality and gender differences. Churchill explores the ideas of a feminist utopia where the men and women live in separate spheres which are prescribed to suit the stereotypical roles of the genders. For example at this time power dressing was a real strategy used by the new breed of feminists struggling for identity in society. We learn about the relationship between women and working. However, Williams s characters in A StreetCar Named Desire crucially succumb to the prescribed gender roles where the women are expected to be meekly obedient in a patriarchal society ruled by the opposite sex. Top Girls is set in the early 1980 s, and mainly plays with two main concerns travelling around the 1980 s feminism and socialism. We unravel a great number of ideas within the novel that mirror the characters rejection of their gender roles. To be more specific, when a population is able to adapt new technology and idea they increase their speed of production, which, in turn, increases their output, which means, in simple terms, new technology and ideas increase an economy s growth because it allows them to produce more, faster and trade more, faster.
