Group Essay #1 Our task is to choose two Jesuit secondary schools and to learn about their approach
to the Jesuit teachings and beliefs. The first school, Fordham Preparatory School, is located in the
United States. The second school Loyola High School is located in Canada. These schools wouldn t be
here today if it wasn t for St. Ignatius of Loyola and his creation of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in
1540. We will explain the dual purpose of Jesuit education and how both schools incorporate it, the
history and general information of both schools, how they compare to Fairfield Prep, and how both
schools show compassion. There are two purposes of a Jesuit education. These purposes are to
develop men to their full intellectual capacity so that they are evermore effective in the service of
others. These separate ideas are represented by two latin terms. The first of the terms is cura
personalis, or care for the entire person, which relates to the full development of the individual. They
want their students to reach their full potential academically. The second term is Ad majorem Dei
gloriam, which means for the greater glory of God. This relates to being effective in serving othersa .
As Saint Ignatius of Loyola realized, there is no better way of serving god than by serving our peers.
This coming from The Book of Genesis which states that all men

Analyzing The Budget And Its Advantages Over The...
The purpose of this memo is to analyze the budget and highlight any concerns based on our
discussion. Activity based costing was used in the preparation of the budget, its advantages over the
traditional cost accounting method will also be discussed. Budget Analysis We have provided you
with a cash budget and a segmented income statement. The budget reflects monthly forecasts for all
sources of cash receipts and disbursements for the brewery. The segmented analysis outlines the
overall profitability of each product line net of tax and amortization. From a cash flow perspective, the
brewery is cash positive right from the beginning. This can occur because payment of variable

The results from ABC can be used to improve control of overhead while providing valuable
information for strategic decisions like pricing and capacity management. ABC was considered
throughout the preparation of the budget. We first identified the cost objective as the product line
including; Premium Pale Ale, Blonde Lager, Harvest Lager, and Premium Lager. We then identified
activities and cost drivers to complement our objective. They were as follows: Activity Driver(s) Sales
demand Number of cases sold Brewing materials, machinery, and supervision Direct materials used,
Machine hours, Direct labour hours Shipping and logistics Transportation expenses Contract growth
Commissions paid General company administration No cost driver (organization sustaining) Indirect
costs that could not be traced back directly to the income statement were then assigned to cost pools
by activity. The cost for each activity were then divided by the total volume of the cost driver and
assigned to the cost objectives. Ultimately, the use of ABC in its budget processes adds considerable
potential benefit to Desert Valley but will be costly to maintain and monitor effectively. We
recommend that a CFO be hired on immediately to oversee this process effectively. INTERNAL

Blake had just finished his first year in the master degree s program and attended an internship with a
famous IT company. After the orientation, the company offered him the first account with the Royal
Hotel which he can manager from the start to the end.
He arrived at the hotel with a one week assignment. In the first meeting with the General Manager

The information system is a combination of software, hardware, data, people and procedure. It is not
solely depending on the technology, interactions between people also counts. In this case, multiple
reasons have caused the situation in this case: (1) Ignorance of the real situation: The new technology
may meet the needs of the hotel. However, the task stated by the GM can be done in a much easier and
cheaper ways. For example, they can require employees to use written form reports in order to reduce
the slippage percentage and reoccurring problems. Reporting every problem real time may cause extra
work for maintenance. Gathering all the problems in a period of time and report them afterward may
be more efficient, besides, the additional cost can be greatly reduced. (2) Did not take employees into
consideration: In this case I am aware that the employees are interested in the new technology first,
but soon lose that interest . It could be caused by the hard operation of the new system, thus the
teaching may took a long time. While the old method is much easier and have been used for a long
period, to change this habit can be tough. (3) Time limitation: We can see from the case that Blake
only have one week to do his job. Although main research has been done during this time including
the funding investment and negotiation with vendor, there is no time and chance for field test. The
whole project is theoretical. (4) Overestimate and underestimate the

The Chesapeake Bay
Scene in Fig. 1.1., the Chesapeake Bay is substantial in size; at roughly 64,000 miles, it contains
roughly fifty rivers and thousands of streams and creeks. It encompasses parts of 6 states, including all
of Washington, DC. The Chesapeake Bay is what is known as a watershed, an area that contributes to
the drainage to a water body, stream, river, lake or ocean. Rainwater that falls within the 64,000 square
miles that is the Chesapeake Bay will subsequently travel through many streams and rivers, eventually
making its way into the largest estuary system in the United States.
The Estuary System
An estuary system is the resulting collisions of sweet and salt fresh river water flowing seaward and
ocean water inland. It is an aquatic system where salt and freshwater are constantly mixing. An
estuary system is one of most active systems of the planet; it is a hybrid system that contains the best
and worst qualities of the ocean, river, and lake systems it conglomerates. Estuaries are unique in
nature because of their ability to be the most productive ecosystem on the entire planet; humans have
attempted and failed to reach the productivity that estuaries naturally grant. There productivity lies it
the constant change that occurs from the conflicting flows of fresh and ocean water. Ocean and
freshwater are measured largely based on salinity, or the level of parts of salt per thousand. Ocean
water usually has around 35 parts per thousands of salt water, while freshwater

Essay on The Speckled Band and The Man with the Twisted Lip
Examine the settings which Arthur Conan Doyle has chosen for his stories in The Speckled Band and
The Man with the Twisted Lip. Consider the effects the writer has created and how they contribute to
the atmosphere. Arthur Conan Doyle s character, Sherlock Holmes, lived in Victorian London during
the 19th century. His perception of the streets is portrayed as a dark and isolated environment. The
atmosphere was far from welcoming. The streets were overrun with crime, beggars and prostitutes.
Through the dense smog, the gas lamps provided feeble lighting which flickered as passer bys walked
on their way. The odour which drifted through the air was vile. This was the result of no sewage

A.C. Doyle reinforces its undesirable presence by describing it as vile . The reader will instantly see
that it is a dirty, eerie place where no one would want to be. It is also personified as lurking which
gives it a sense of hidden mystery. Holmes and Watson s journey is prolonged and tiresome as they
travel through: the endless succession of sombre and deserted streets This description is effective
because it makes the reader think of the continuous series of streets which have no definite end and
lead to nowhere. The adjective sombre makes the reader think of a dull, dismal space containing
emptiness. Everything Watson and Holmes pass along their way appears to be gloomy and depressing:
another dull wilderness of bricks , ...a dull wrack. , star twinkled dimly Stars are expected to be bright,
however here it is described in a contrasting manner. Although it is twinkling, it is still dim. The
reader may imagine that these streets are so dismal not even the brightest star could appear as it is. As
the reader is taken to the setting of the opium den, it feels as if they have been lead to an even more
discomforting place. The steps lead: down to a black gap It is like being transported to a cold and
sinister place. The reader is given the feeling of being taken down to hell. They are unaware of what

What Makes George Herbert Hoover A Good President

Herbert Hoover was elected as president in 1929, but before that he was much more. Hoover was born
a Quaker in Iowa, which makes him the only Iowan president. He had a hard childhood due to both of
his parents passing away and leaving he and his two siblings orphans at the age of 9. He then moved
in with his uncle in Oregon until he attended college at Stanford, making him one of the first people to
go there. He graduated with a degree in geology and became an engineer. After awhile Hoover got

City Of Detroit Case Study
On Thursday, July 28, 2013, Detroit, Michigan became the largest city in America ever to file for
bankruptcy. Established in 1701, Detroit was founded by the French explorer Antoine de la Mothe
Cadillac and a party of settlers. None of these men had any idea that Detroit would evolve into the
thriving hub of the car industry in centuries to come. In 1756, the smallpox virus and a famine
threatened the many settlers in Detroit, but did not decimate the population enough to cause the city to
collapse. In 1802, Detroit officially became a chartered city. In the United States, a charter city is a

Henry Moore Two Large Forms Analysis
Two Large Forms
Every few decades there is a new form of art that is considered to be modern so it would be difficult to
say that I dislike modern art however, present day s rendition of modern art is something I am
definitely not a fan of. I say this because the problem of everything s been done before has surfaced
more than ever so artists nowadays are trying to create pieces of art that are a fine line away from not
being considered art at all, respectively seeing as Art is everything . I recently saw an art piece a
couple of years ago, at the Art Gallery of Ontario, and it was a sculpture of a pile of shoes. Now, I m
not prejudice to art but there has to be some sort of limitation to what is considered art and what is
considered last weeks trash, which brings me to the topic at hand, Two Large Forms by Henry Moore.

Initially, when I walked up to this sculpture my thoughts were the name of the piece pretty much sums
it up. Approaching the statues, they seem to just be large bronze masses on the corner of McCaul
street but, as any art should be looked at, I decided to dig deeper than the superficial. The location is
odd to me, mainly because the bronze forms are not alone in the corner of the building, but are not
really impacted by its surroundings. The trees behind the statue are dead giving a desolate atmosphere
invoking a sense of loneliness. Moreover, almost the entire area surrounding the piece is solid
concrete, giving a very penitential outlook. I m not sure if the sculpture s initial approach is supposed
to invoke miserable emotions but if so it does its job

Persuasive Essay On Christmas Research Paper
The most collectively celebrated holiday of the year is undeniably December 25th, Christmas. Most
people acknowledge that the Christ in Christmas is representative of Jesus Christ, Son of God, and for
Christians, the day is set aside as a celebration of his birth. Many people in the United States (and
world) however, either do not believe in the Christian view of Christmas, have different non Christian
religious beliefs or celebrate for other reasons, if at all. Because of the multi cultural differences that
incorporate our country, Christmas should be declared by Congress as simply a Federal Holiday. This
would be achieved if the dominant Christ aspect from Christ mas was removed by renaming the
holiday to The Winter Holiday, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many secular traditions have been incorporated in America over the last 140 years including tree
decorating, exchanging cards and gifts, non religious Christmas songs, Santa Claus, twinkling lights,
among many other traditions. Some of these traditions were expanded from religious traditions for
example; gift giving is based on the belief that The Three Wise Men brought gifts to Jesus in the
manger. However commercialism has long owned this tradition and in fact, it has been widely
recognized that Thanksgiving Day and Christmas are necessary for getting the economy moving and
out of the red hence; Black Friday, the first day of the holiday shopping season. It is also true that
President Franklin D. Roosevelt moved Thanksgiving to the fourth Thursday of November in order to
extend the holiday shopping season for precisely this purpose.
Congress declared December 25th a federal holiday in the United States in 1870. President Ulysses S.
Grant signed the bill to enact Christmas along with 3 other holidays: New Year s, July 4th and
Thanksgiving as public holidays. Many people however believe that including Christmas with these
secular holidays was an error because back then Christmas only meant the celebration of Jesus birth,
which is construed by many as a conflict of the separation of church and state. The First Amendment
of our Constitution clearly states, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of

The volume of Seymour s voice was loud and projected somewhat far. The pitch was high and
squeaky. The overall quality of the voice was by far not the best. He is someone with whom you could
only speak with for a short amount of time. Seymour would pause occasionally taking short breaths
only to continue with more choppy sentences. When Seymour defends Audrey against Orin Scrivello
DDS in the dentist office his voice was on the fritz. When the drill was turned on Seymour squirmed
in his chair and his voice was louder and higher pitched than the drill. The inflection of his voice was
very drastic it would be somewhat loud and than soft again. Overall the vocal quality was quite
detailed and portrayed Seymour in a realistic perspective.
Miles did a good job of slipping into the role of Seymour. The character is an uptight person that has a
lot of psychological and emotional problems. I believed in Seymour for who he was. The only way to
fool an audience is to erase suspicion from their mind. For instance if the audience is suspect that you
are acting than believability is already lost. I was able to pick up very small clues Miles used to evoke
the character of Seymour. Miles would play with his glasses like Seymour would. He would also
scratch his face and squint his eyes. This is what I would think Seymour would do subconcisouly. The
reactions of Seymour were understandable. When Audrey II wanted to be feed for the first time

Consumerism And Consumerism
Consumerism is deeply embedded in our culture and heavily influences our day to day behavior and
interactions with others. Examples of consumerism include the fashion industry, our obsession with
getting the newest technology, and why we purchase a certain type of car. The downside with our
obsession of constant buying is that there are so many negative side effects that impact the
environment, worker s lives (working conditions, low wages, poor living conditions) and our own
relationships with our families, coworkers and friends. There is a lot of evidence of these side effects,
and yet we keep buying into this cycle. We should know better, and yet it seems like it will be very
hard to get us to change our habits. The works of Richard Wilkinson and Kate Pickett, Phillip
Bauman, Julia Pugh in, and Pierre Bourdieu in attempt to explain why we continue to practice
consumerist focused lifestyles. In The Spirit Level by Richard Wilkinson and Kate Pickett, their focus
is on the relationship between consumerism and climate change. Pickett and Wilkinson state that the
inequality between classes in society increases the cultural pressure to consume more and more, or to
consume competitively. This is because we are afraid of looking like we are second class or less than
we are, and are afraid of losing our place in society. In this way our obsessive buying habits have
become a defense mechanism against falling out of our hard earned place. As the inequality grows and
the distinctions between classes becomes ever clearer, we have to work harder in order to keep buying
and consuming to stay on top. Because we are spending more, we are saving less and borrowing more,
one statistic in the book states that, in 1998 even though the American economy was booming...one
family in sixty eight had filed for bankruptcy. (p. 227). In this way consumerism becomes a vicious
cycle that is incredibly hard to get out of because there are very few other options. This is all because
of how social we are, and how important it is to fit in with those around us. In Liquid Life by Zygmunt
Bauman, he explains our need for consumption because of the way society progresses in what he calls
a liquid modern society. He describes liquid

Essay about The Unique Similarities Between Taste and Sight
Of the five senses that humans employ in everyday life, taste and sight are two of the more interesting
senses. They are continually developed throughout our entire lives and we are exposed to new sights
and tastes everyday. Many people think that our senses are all unique and independent of each other,
but taste and sight are surprising similar in many aspects, such as their development. Not only are taste
and sight developed similarly, but they are also affected by familiarity, socialization, and memory.
Although many people in the world believe that all our senses are different in function and
development, taste and sight have a unique connection between the two senses that makes them very
similar.

Their taste in food is clearly based on socialization, creating a diet that would maximize their
performance at the job they performed on a day to day basis. Sight also has a large association with
familiarity. Many of the everyday things that humans see in the world do not surprise them at all, as
they have seen those things throughout their whole lives. Some images and objects, however, invoke
many emotions from a person, such as anger or fear. Humans, therefore, try to see only things that
they are familiar with. Most humans do not want to see images of war, poverty, death or destruction,
and they, therefore, try to steer clear of such images. As Thomas Gray once said, ignorance is bliss,
which allows humans to block out disturbing images in order to make them feel happier and more
secure about their lives with the images they are familiar with. Socialization also plays a large part of
our sense of sight as humans. During infancy is when the majority of our learning takes place and our
sense of sight is no exception. Babies learn from the area and culture that they are born into, which
affects their visual perception of the world. People born into the culture of third world countries
become more accustomed to seeing things like poverty and war, while many people in first world
countries would be unfamiliar with those images. Being familiar with a

Many schools each year are gradually turning towards the use of school uniforms. Statistics show that

should have uniforms because it limits kids to getting bullied, parents don t have to worry if their kids

In case, you didn t know, more than half of the kids who don t wear uniforms to school get bullied

Most kids are late getting to school because they do not know what to wear. If schools get uniforms it
will reduce the amount of kids showing late up late to school every day. Also, teachers won t have to

kids like to express themselves by the clothes they wear, having school uniforms decreases the chance
of kids showing up late to school and dressing inappropriately. If schools who have uniforms came up
with a way for kids to express themselves, uniforms wouldn t be as bad.
All things considered, I think every school should have uniforms. Although, not very many schools

The first important situation to consider is that Francos s dictatorship was based on the beliefs of the

Logan Feys Arguments On Being Individual
Being individual means being unique and like no other; however, the conflicting norms of society
wear down upon the abilities of people who stand out amongst others. Logan Feys argues that we are
under constant pressure to give up our individuality while living in society. In agreeance with Feys
argument we should have our own values and we shouldn t try to be like everyone else.
Society does pressure us constantly to give up our individuality, but we should have our own values.
Society tends to judge others who stand out just because they don t look like everyone else in the
crowd. For instance, Society looks down upon freakish and extraordinary individuals alike and views
them with suspicions (Feys 4). This proves that society looks down on individuals who are completely
different from them. However, the Leopard Man doesn t care if society isn t happy with his
appearance. He doesn t live off of society s approval. He seeks his own values and happiness with the
choices he makes. As long as you re happy with what you re doing then society s opinion shouldn t

Society wants everyone to not stand out from each other. We are pressured to give up our individuality

Reflection Of Babette s Feast
Babette s Feast While feasts are often thought of as a type of fulfillment and associated with
celebrations, the feast in the movie Babette s Feast is presented as a refreshment, a reminder of the
true definition of reunion. Babette, who witnesses the fracturing of this Church community, is
portrayed as a Christ figure when she rescues the community s falling spirit through her feast.
Although the movie begins with the community demonstrating their unity, and their devotedness to
their faith through attending to church and participating in congregational singing, they were
nevertheless defenseless as they begin to expose each other and speak in the tongue of the evil when
their minister passed away. Hence, the phrase All is Vanity as mentioned by the General is slowly
solidified, becoming a label that wraps around this community as they carry out spiritual practices that
contradict their expressions for one another. Through witnessing inadvertent bitterness in the
conversations of their meetings, like cracks on the wall of the church, the sisters who has been
carrying out the traditions of their community like two pillars that uphold the church since the death of
the founder has also failed to remind the community the purpose behind their gatherings. Despite of
demonstrating implicit and explicit faith through their services for the community, their guidance
becomes more and more powerless as the community starves its spirit through the temptation of

Benefits Of Genetically Modified Plants
Genetically Modified Plants
The term GMO Plants (genetically modified organisms) is most commonly used to refer to crop plants
created for human, or animal consumption using the latest molecular biology techniques. These plants
have been modified in the laboratory to enhance desired traits such as increased resistance to
herbicides and improved nutritional content. The enhancement of desired traits has traditionally been
undertaken through breeding, but conventional plant breeding methods can be very time consuming
and are often not very accurate. Genetic engineering can create plants with the exact desired trait very
rapidly and with great accuracy.
The world population is growing every year and is predicted to double in the next
50 years (WHO). Ensuring an adequate supply for this booming human population is going to be a
major challenge in the years to come. GM foods promise to meet this need in a number of ways:
Pharmaceuticals, medicines and vaccines often are costly to produce and sometimes require special
storage conditions not readily available in third world countries. Researchers are working to develop
edible vaccines in tomatoes and potatoes. These vaccines will be much easier to ship, store and
administer than traditional injectable vaccines. Nutrition, malnutrition is common in third world
countries where impoverished peoples rely on a single crop such as rice for the main staple of their
diet. However, rice does not contain adequate amounts of all necessary

Black women were leaders in their homes and communities and they sought to the improvement of the
black race and economic stability through advocacy (Howard Hamilton, 2003; Howard Vital 1987).
History records that the first African American women to enter higher education in the United States
was Lucy Ann Stanton in 1850 (Clark, 2012; Titcomb, 2017); however, there is no information on
how long it took her to complete the degree neither the experiences she encountered. In 1862, Mary
Jane Patterson, a teacher, graduated with a bachelor s degree from Oberlin College. She is considered
the first African American woman to earn a bachelor s degree; yet, literature does not indicate the
challenges and successes she faced to become the first (Carter, 2010). Lucy Slowe, an advocate for
black women s mobility and progress of the Black race, was the first black women to serve as Dean of
Women at any American university and the first Dean of Women at Howard University (Carter, 2010;

The demand for an independent state for Indian Muslims became a living force among the Muslim
masses because of its appeal to Indian Muslims that they would have separate development free from
what was described as Hindu domination and exploitation, with an opportunity for economic
prosperity.
On March 23, 1940, the Muslim League adopted the Lahore Resolution, moved by Fazlul Huq of
Bengal, which called for political independence by creating two states for Muslims. It stated:
the areas in which the Muslims are numerically in a majority as in the North Western and Eastern
Zones of India should be grouped to constitute Indian States in which the constituent units shall be
autonomous and sovereign.
The Lahore Resolution, which later came to be widely discussed and debated, was effectively by
passed by the Delhi Resolution. Moved by H.S.Suhrawardy of Bengal and adopted in the Muslim
League Legislators Convention on April 9, 1946, it stated:

John Calvin on God s Divine Providence Essay
John Calvin on God s Divine Providence
In John Calvin s Institutes of the Christian Religion he spends a great deal of time expounding his
doctrine of God s Divine providence in all of creation. He explains not only how God continually
governs the laws of nature, but also how God governs man s actions and intentions to bring about His
own Divine Will. Calvin believes that God s providence is so encompassing in creation that even a
man s own actions, in many ways, are decreed by God. Because of this belief there arises the question,
Does Calvin leave room for the free will of man? At the outset I must make clear that Calvin defines
Providence as this: providence means not that by which God idly observes from heaven what ... Show

He believes that God s act of creation did not stop after He created man, but continues all throughout
the past, present and future. Calvin not only believes that God cares for all of man and animals, but
directs the weather and excersises His power over inanimate objects. Calvin even goes so far as to
argue that the movement of the sun, moon, stars, and planets is continued by God s power and not by
some energy that was given to them at the beginning of creation, which carnal sense would tell us
(Calvin 197). He does not believe that God sits back and watches or allows things in nature to happen,
but actually causes them to happen. For example, if there was a drought one summer it was caused by
God, possibly part of His vengeance or wrath. Or, if the crops flourished the next summer it was also
His plan. Likewise, let us say per chance (no pun intended) a man is walking along a mountain pass
and some rocks fall and kill him. For Calvin this was not an accident, but a determination and the Will
of God. Calvin s ideology of God s Providence in nature is summed up in this quote:
And truly God claims, and would have us grant him, omnipotence not the empty, idle, and almost
unconscious sort that the Sophists imagine, but a watchful, effective, active sort, engaged in ceaseless
activity. Not, indeed, an omnipotence that is only a general principle of confused motion, as if he were
to command a river to flow through its once appointed channels, but one that

Reducing the Immunological Reactivity of Food Allergens by Enzymatic Hydrolysis/ Impact of
Enzymatic Hydrolysis on the Allergenic Potential of Foods Introduction (Can contribute depending on
the requirement)
Food allergy represents an abnormal, immune mediated hypersensitivity to certain foods resulting in
the onset of instant or delayed adverse health effects in sensitized individuals. In developed countries,
around 5% and 3 8% of young children and adults respectively have food allergy (Vanga et al.,
2015;..). In addition, recent reports from developed and developing countries seems to indicate that
the prevalence of food allergy is on an alarming the rise (). More than 170 foods have been identified
to have the capacity to elicit immune mediated reactions. However, only a subset of these foods are
known to be responsible for most of the reported cases of allergic reactions (). Observation of the main
allergenic foods from different parts of the world showed that one food may be a significant
contributor to allergic reaction in one region while its contribution to the prevalence of food allergy
may be minimal in another region. Nevertheless, major allergenic foods can be categorized as seafood,
peanut and tree nuts, cereals and pseudocereals, dairy, egg, legumes, fruits and some oil seeds.
The consumption of foods mentioned above by a sensitive patients can result in symptoms that may
range from mild nausea, vomiting and itchy skin to severe

A Study On A Television
A television I am usually exposed to during this year is located in a room dedicated for students who
want to relax or study on the side. This television is located in the lounge of an Oakes College
residential hall. The television set is located above eye level in the right hand corner as you enter the
room. Below the set, is a VCR with the remote control on top of it. As for the lounge layout, there are
three sofas that are placed in a rectangular shape all of them facing the television. In the middle are
two rectangular shaped tables used to place stuff when one is watching tv. On the other side of the
room, are three full size tables placed next to each other to create a study space for any resident in the
residential hall.
A few of my fellow neighbors are on their laptops studying or on their social medias glancing a few
moments at what s on the television screen. Unlike those sitting in front of the table those who are
sitting at the couches are gazing at the different programs being transmitted on the television screen.
All of us seem to be watching the television for the same purpose as a pure form of entertainment to
relieve stress from being a student. Each time a commercial starts mostly everyone go on their phones
or use that time to go to the restroom as well as change the channels.
The entrance to the room becomes a place for decisions as one has to decide to either study or relax by
watching television. This moment is similar to what Anna McCarthy mentions

Electricity Is Generated From The Energy
HYDROFUEL CELLS
Abstract: Electricity is generated from the energy; we get, by the burning of fossil fuels, where the
fuel can be stored and used when needed according to the immediate energy requirements. Hence it is
speaking to a concentrated and stable type of energy. On the opposite side, we have some irregular
types of energy, for example, wind, wave, tidal and sunlight based. These can t be put away and must
be utilized according to accessibility; generally their energy possibilities are lost. For the usage of
these energy sources, there is a need to convert this energy into suitable forms for storage. For this
Hydrofuel Cells are one of the best way to create and store energy as they possess many positive
qualities such as renewable, environment friendly, readily available elements for electricity generation
etc. Here it is discussed about the working of Hydrofuel cells, advantages and disadvantages and lots

PTEN can be expressed in bacteria such as E.coli or in mammalian cell culture such as human
embryonal kidney HEK 293. Accordingly, there are advantages and disadvantages associated with
each expression system. For bacterial expression system, they have the benefits of the fast growth,
lower cost, and well understood genome and proteome system. However, the bacterial expression
system express unfunctional protein that lack the proper folding beside that there is a risk of
contaminate the desire protein by lipopolysaccharide (endotoxin). On the other hand, mammalian
expression system has the pros of given a proper fold protein since there are appropriate post
translation modification, and they have a higher capacity to produced secreted proteins. Conversely,
the disadvantage of using mammalian expression system are the slow growth, higher cost, difficult
optimization of media, and very low yield of the desire protein [4,8 and 10].
In bacteria, such as E. coli, operon codes include the expression of three separate enzymes needed for
lactose metabolism. Prior to the operon a regulatory gene continually makes repressor proteins that
bind with the operator thus restrain the transcription of the operon. Indeed, the system remains off
until lactose molecules bind to the repressors and prevents their attachment to the operator. Once the
operator is free, the transcription of the enzymes continues until there are no enough lactose molecules

Difference Between Democracy And Democracy
There are many forms of government all over the world. Governments are very important to how they
allow the population to work together. Two of the most popular forms of government are a
dictatorship and a democracy. Both these governments have their own properties and are unique in
every country they are present in. Democracy is a form of government controlled by the whole
population or all the eligible members of the state, usually through elected representatives. A typical
representative democracy means it s the elected representative s job to represent their voters. A
democracy is seen in some of the most powerful states in the world.
Great Britain is one of the original democratic states. They ve been a democratic regime for many
years and have been a great role model for the rest of the world. Great Britain has shown that
democracy not only brings freedom but peace. Most democratic states are very peaceful.
Singapore had fought for its independence from the colonial grip of Great Britain. It is also a very
egalitarian and liberalized country. It has been one of the biggest trading posts in the world and has
become very wealthy. The (PAP) or People s Action Party was the first universal suffrage movement.
It s led the country for many years, provided many social welfare programs and the people are very
supportive of it. The party has been known for imprisonment and harassment but no known
disappearances.
Dictatorships are mostly a bad thing but

A Brief Note On The And Licensed Contractors
In August of 2014, Hurricane Iselle hit the Island of Hawaii, where I live. She was violent and mean
as she swept across our shores. In her wake, our electricity and telephone lines went down. I wondered
for weeks as the telephone and electricity repair crew worked 24 hours, seven days a week trying to
restore service to all of us in need. Despite the drawbacks of broken power lines, fallen trees, and no
water, I felt confident that those repairing the lines were certified electricians and licensed contractors.
Our lives today are filled with a vast number of products with some kind of implanted computer part
and software program. We used to enjoy the slumber of using a basic analog phone or television.
Remember the IBM Selecta, manual calculators, and books that you can check out at the library to
read? How about something as simple as boiling eggs on an old fashion firewood stove? The point
being, we have evolved as a technological dependent society. It was like a storm that swept over the
world. It came fast and fierce. Business today are experiencing major problems finding qualified,
trained, and certified computer technicians, engineers, and employees do what is needed, to meet
those demands. There are many different types of certifications to consider. The list includes: CCNA,
CCNP, Citrix, Comptia A+, Comptia net+, Comptia Security, Microsoft, Microsoft Business

Choosing Two Jesuit Secondary Schools Finn O Connor, Finn Mangan, Chase Reynolds, Ross Keblish, Andrew Trautz Mr.Reidy Theology 1, Section 7 16 October 2015 Group Essay #1 Our task is to choose two Jesuit secondary schools and to learn about their approach to the Jesuit teachings and beliefs. The first school, Fordham Preparatory School, is located in the United States. The second school Loyola High School is located in Canada. These schools wouldn t be here today if it wasn t for St. Ignatius of Loyola and his creation of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1540. We will explain the dual purpose of Jesuit education and how both schools incorporate it, the history and general information of both schools, how they compare to Fairfield Prep, and how both schools show compassion. There are two purposes of a Jesuit education. These purposes are to develop men to their full intellectual capacity so that they are evermore effective in the service of others. These separate ideas are represented by two latin terms. The first of the terms is cura personalis, or care for the entire person, which relates to the full development of the individual. They want their students to reach their full potential academically. The second term is Ad majorem Dei gloriam, which means for the greater glory of God. This relates to being effective in serving othersa . As Saint Ignatius of Loyola realized, there is no better way of serving god than by serving our peers. This coming from The Book of Genesis which states that all men ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Activity based costing was used in the preparation of the budget, its advantages over the traditional cost accounting method will also be discussed. Budget Analysis We have provided you with a cash budget and a segmented income statement. The budget reflects monthly forecasts for all sources of cash receipts and disbursements for the brewery. The segmented analysis outlines the overall profitability of each product line net of tax and amortization. From a cash flow perspective, the brewery is cash positive right from the beginning. This can occur because payment of variable overhead, commissions, transport, and a portion of direct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The results from ABC can be used to improve control of overhead while providing valuable information for strategic decisions like pricing and capacity management. ABC was considered throughout the preparation of the budget. We first identified the cost objective as the product line including; Premium Pale Ale, Blonde Lager, Harvest Lager, and Premium Lager. We then identified activities and cost drivers to complement our objective. They were as follows: Activity Driver(s) Sales demand Number of cases sold Brewing materials, machinery, and supervision Direct materials used, Machine hours, Direct labour hours Shipping and logistics Transportation expenses Contract growth Commissions paid General company administration No cost driver (organization sustaining) Indirect costs that could not be traced back directly to the income statement were then assigned to cost pools by activity. The cost for each activity were then divided by the total volume of the cost driver and assigned to the cost objectives. Ultimately, the use of ABC in its budget processes adds considerable potential benefit to Desert Valley but will be costly to maintain and monitor effectively. We recommend that a CFO be hired on immediately to oversee this process effectively. The information system is a combination of software, hardware, data, people and procedure. It is not solely depending on the technology, interactions between people also counts. In this case, multiple reasons have caused the situation in this case: (1) Ignorance of the real situation: The new technology may meet the needs of the hotel. However, the task stated by the GM can be done in a much easier and cheaper ways. For example, they can require employees to use written form reports in order to reduce the slippage percentage and reoccurring problems. Reporting every problem real time may cause extra work for maintenance. Gathering all the problems in a period of time and report them afterward may be more efficient, besides, the additional cost can be greatly reduced. (2) Did not take employees into consideration: In this case I am aware that the employees are interested in the new technology first, but soon lose that interest . It could be caused by the hard operation of the new system, thus the teaching may took a long time. While the old method is much easier and have been used for a long period, to change this habit can be tough. (3) Time limitation: We can see from the case that Blake only have one week to do his job. Although main research has been done during this time including the funding investment and negotiation with vendor, there is no time and chance for field test. The whole project is theoretical. • 5. The Chesapeake Bay Scene in Fig. 1.1., the Chesapeake Bay is substantial in size; at roughly 64,000 miles, it contains roughly fifty rivers and thousands of streams and creeks. It encompasses parts of 6 states, including all of Washington, DC. The Chesapeake Bay is what is known as a watershed, an area that contributes to the drainage to a water body, stream, river, lake or ocean. Rainwater that falls within the 64,000 square miles that is the Chesapeake Bay will subsequently travel through many streams and rivers, eventually making its way into the largest estuary system in the United States. The Estuary System An estuary system is the resulting collisions of sweet and salt fresh river water flowing seaward and ocean water inland. It is an aquatic system where salt and freshwater are constantly mixing. An estuary system is one of most active systems of the planet; it is a hybrid system that contains the best and worst qualities of the ocean, river, and lake systems it conglomerates. Estuaries are unique in nature because of their ability to be the most productive ecosystem on the entire planet; humans have attempted and failed to reach the productivity that estuaries naturally grant. There productivity lies it the constant change that occurs from the conflicting flows of fresh and ocean water. Ocean and freshwater are measured largely based on salinity, or the level of parts of salt per thousand. Ocean water usually has around 35 parts per thousands of salt water, while freshwater ... Consider the effects the writer has created and how they contribute to the atmosphere. Arthur Conan Doyle s character, Sherlock Holmes, lived in Victorian London during the 19th century. His perception of the streets is portrayed as a dark and isolated environment. The atmosphere was far from welcoming. The streets were overrun with crime, beggars and prostitutes. The reader will instantly see that it is a dirty, eerie place where no one would want to be. It is also personified as lurking which gives it a sense of hidden mystery. Holmes and Watson s journey is prolonged and tiresome as they travel through: the endless succession of sombre and deserted streets This description is effective because it makes the reader think of the continuous series of streets which have no definite end and lead to nowhere. The adjective sombre makes the reader think of a dull, dismal space containing emptiness. Everything Watson and Holmes pass along their way appears to be gloomy and depressing: another dull wilderness of bricks , ...a dull wrack. , star twinkled dimly Stars are expected to be bright, however here it is described in a contrasting manner. Established in 1701, Detroit was founded by the French explorer Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac and a party of settlers. None of these men had any idea that Detroit would evolve into the thriving hub of the car industry in centuries to come. In 1756, the smallpox virus and a famine threatened the many settlers in Detroit, but did not decimate the population enough to cause the city to collapse. Henry Moore Two Large Forms Analysis Two Large Forms Every few decades there is a new form of art that is considered to be modern so it would be difficult to say that I dislike modern art however, present day s rendition of modern art is something I am definitely not a fan of. I say this because the problem of everything s been done before has surfaced more than ever so artists nowadays are trying to create pieces of art that are a fine line away from not being considered art at all, respectively seeing as Art is everything . I recently saw an art piece a couple of years ago, at the Art Gallery of Ontario, and it was a sculpture of a pile of shoes. Now, I m not prejudice to art but there has to be some sort of limitation to what is considered art and what is considered last weeks trash, which brings me to the topic at hand, Two Large Forms by Henry Moore. ... Approaching the statues, they seem to just be large bronze masses on the corner of McCaul street but, as any art should be looked at, I decided to dig deeper than the superficial. The location is odd to me, mainly because the bronze forms are not alone in the corner of the building, but are not really impacted by its surroundings. The trees behind the statue are dead giving a desolate atmosphere invoking a sense of loneliness. Moreover, almost the entire area surrounding the piece is solid concrete, giving a very penitential outlook. I m not sure if the sculpture s initial approach is supposed to invoke miserable emotions but if so it does its job ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most people acknowledge that the Christ in Christmas is representative of Jesus Christ, Son of God, and for Christians, the day is set aside as a celebration of his birth. Many people in the United States (and world) however, either do not believe in the Christian view of Christmas, have different non Christian religious beliefs or celebrate for other reasons, if at all. Because of the multi cultural differences that incorporate our country, Christmas should be declared by Congress as simply a Federal Holiday. Many secular traditions have been incorporated in America over the last 140 years including tree decorating, exchanging cards and gifts, non religious Christmas songs, Santa Claus, twinkling lights, among many other traditions. Some of these traditions were expanded from religious traditions for example; gift giving is based on the belief that The Three Wise Men brought gifts to Jesus in the manger. However commercialism has long owned this tradition and in fact, it has been widely recognized that Thanksgiving Day and Christmas are necessary for getting the economy moving and out of the red hence; Black Friday, the first day of the holiday shopping season. It is also true that President Franklin D. Roosevelt moved Thanksgiving to the fourth Thursday of November in order to extend the holiday shopping season for precisely this purpose. Congress declared December 25th a federal holiday in the United States in 1870. President Ulysses S. Grant signed the bill to enact Christmas along with 3 other holidays: New Year s, July 4th and Thanksgiving as public holidays. Many people however believe that including Christmas with these secular holidays was an error because back then Christmas only meant the celebration of Jesus birth, which is construed by many as a conflict of the separation of church and state. • 14. Consumerism And Consumerism Consumerism is deeply embedded in our culture and heavily influences our day to day behavior and interactions with others. Examples of consumerism include the fashion industry, our obsession with getting the newest technology, and why we purchase a certain type of car. The downside with our obsession of constant buying is that there are so many negative side effects that impact the environment, worker s lives (working conditions, low wages, poor living conditions) and our own relationships with our families, coworkers and friends. There is a lot of evidence of these side effects, and yet we keep buying into this cycle. We should know better, and yet it seems like it will be very hard to get us to change our habits. The works of Richard Wilkinson and Kate Pickett, Phillip Bauman, Julia Pugh in, and Pierre Bourdieu in attempt to explain why we continue to practice consumerist focused lifestyles. In The Spirit Level by Richard Wilkinson and Kate Pickett, their focus is on the relationship between consumerism and climate change. Pickett and Wilkinson state that the inequality between classes in society increases the cultural pressure to consume more and more, or to consume competitively. This is because we are afraid of looking like we are second class or less than we are, and are afraid of losing our place in society. In this way our obsessive buying habits have become a defense mechanism against falling out of our hard earned place. As the inequality grows and the distinctions between classes becomes ever clearer, we have to work harder in order to keep buying and consuming to stay on top. Because we are spending more, we are saving less and borrowing more, one statistic in the book states that, in 1998 even though the American economy was booming...one family in sixty eight had filed for bankruptcy. (p. 227). In this way consumerism becomes a vicious cycle that is incredibly hard to get out of because there are very few other options. This is all because of how social we are, and how important it is to fit in with those around us. In Liquid Life by Zygmunt Bauman, he explains our need for consumption because of the way society progresses in what he calls a liquid modern society. He describes liquid ... Sight also has a large association with familiarity. Many of the everyday things that humans see in the world do not surprise them at all, as they have seen those things throughout their whole lives. Some images and objects, however, invoke many emotions from a person, such as anger or fear. Humans, therefore, try to see only things that they are familiar with. Most humans do not want to see images of war, poverty, death or destruction, and they, therefore, try to steer clear of such images. As Thomas Gray once said, ignorance is bliss, which allows humans to block out disturbing images in order to make them feel happier and more secure about their lives with the images they are familiar with. Socialization also plays a large part of our sense of sight as humans. During infancy is when the majority of our learning takes place and our sense of sight is no exception. He believes that God s act of creation did not stop after He created man, but continues all throughout the past, present and future. Calvin not only believes that God cares for all of man and animals, but directs the weather and excersises His power over inanimate objects. Calvin even goes so far as to argue that the movement of the sun, moon, stars, and planets is continued by God s power and not by some energy that was given to them at the beginning of creation, which carnal sense would tell us (Calvin 197). He does not believe that God sits back and watches or allows things in nature to happen, but actually causes them to happen. For example, if there was a drought one summer it was caused by God, possibly part of His vengeance or wrath. Or, if the crops flourished the next summer it was also His plan. Likewise, let us say per chance (no pun intended) a man is walking along a mountain pass and some rocks fall and kill him. For Calvin this was not an accident, but a determination and the Will of God. Calvin s ideology of God s Providence in nature is summed up in this quote: And truly God claims, and would have us grant him, omnipotence not the empty, idle, and almost unconscious sort that the Sophists imagine, but a watchful, effective, active sort, engaged in ceaseless activity.
