4. Characteristics
of stage voice
Rate – this refers to the speed at which someone
talks. We must be mindful that the pace at which
one speak should change. Alter speed with dialogue.
Projection – This relates to how loud one sound
when speaking. We use stage voice (talking louder)
when we are on a platform speaking with persons
versus personal voice (talking softer) when speaking
someone close by.
5. Characteristics
of stage voice
Clarity – The ability to speak in such a way that
persons understand what is being said. It relates to
the formation of words and pausing when necessary
at commas, full stops, or any other punctuation
mark.
Expression – The ability to use subtle movements in
face and body as one speaks. It must be noted that
one should not overdo the actions and use eyes and
eyebrows to aid in communication.

Using at least two of the characteristics
learnt, say the phrase:
There was a crooked man
Who walked a crooked mile,
He found a crooked six-pence
Against a crooked stile.
He bought a crooked cat,
Which caught a crooked mouse,
And they all lived together
In one old crooked house.
