New Role for the JNK Protein: Long Known to Help Cells Respond to Stress, JNK Also Controls Cell Cycle S cienceDaily July 14, 2010
JNK protein (c-Jun N-terminal kinases) belong to a subgroup of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) that are activated by environmental stress, proinflammatory cytokines, and mitogenic stimuli in mammalian cells. In the present study, the search team found activity of JNK protein in the regulation of cell cycle. Thing that had not been registered or found before.
JNK acts like an assembly line inspector; its presence and activity ensures that the cell cycle moves along smoothly. Any problems push JNK to halt the process at certain checkpoints. JNK protein regulates cell function by phosphorylation other proteins, for well turned on or off enzymes . What they found…??
º Through the cell cycle exist lots of proteins that helps to promote and regulate the different parts of the cycle, like APC/C protein complex. AND… mitosis Prophase Metaphase Anaphase Telophase The protein complex APC/C (anaphase-promoting complex) induce the cell to enter to Anaphase … And JKN protein regulates the function of APC/C complex during the cell cycle.

Histone H1 regulates gene activity throughout the cell cycle. S cienceDaily July 6, 2010
A human cell's genetic material is so vast that it must be condensed into tightly wound structures resembling beads on a string. And that is the principal function of histones, to make the DNA to fit inside the nucleus.
º Histone H1 just like the core histones can generate changes in gene activity, according to the modifications that have each of them. , During cell division much less of the genome is transcribed than at other points in the cell cycle, But in the investigation, that such "interphase" H1 phosphorylation is preferentially associated with genes when they are actually being transcribed.
… which means that phosphorated H1 histone is involved in, in controlling ribosomal RNA gene transcription. A really unexpected result of this studio was when the search team found by fluorescent microscopy, that phosphorated H1 histone, were at the region of nucleolus…
