In vivo effects of quantum dot on organs development before maturity
Abstract
Objective(s):
The field of nanotechnology is rapidly expanding .The development quantum dots quantum dot (QDs), show great promise for treatment and diagnosis of cancer and targeted drug delivery little data on the toxicity of QDs, especially for in vivo applications, are available. As a result, concerns exist over their toxicity for in vivo applications. Then, cytotoxic effects of cadmium selenide (CdSe) quantum dots on organs development before maturity were studied in this study.
Materials and Methods:
One month old male Mice treated by injection of CdSe at the doses of 10, 20 and 40 mg/kg. Structural and optical properties of quantum dots were studied by XRD, UV-Vis absorption spectrum and Scanning Tunneling Microscopy and the number of cells in seminiferous tubes of various groups were analyzed using SPSS 16 program (one way ANOVA test).
Results:
Histological studies of testis tissue showed high toxicity of cdse in the dose of 40 mg/kg which followed by decrease in lamina propria thickness, destruction in interstitial tissue, deformation of seminiferoustubes, and reduction in number cells. Also histological study of lung tissue showed in 20 and 40 mg/kg doses destruction in interstitial and epithelium tissues.
Conclusion:
On the whole, this study showed high toxicity of cdse on development of testis and lung tissues, even in low doses considering lack of literature review in this field, this study can be an introduction to researches about toxicity effect of quantum dots on development of organs.

Nanomechanical Characterization of CdSe QD-Polymer Nanocomposites

Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate (KDP) crystals are one of the most popular crystals used for Non-linear
Optical (NLO) applications. Pure KDP single crystals and KDP crystals doped with N-N′ allylthiourea were
grown by the method of slow evaporation from aqueous solutions. The grown pure and doped crystals were
confirmed by X-ray single crystal and powder diffraction studies. The pure and doped crystals were
characterized by FTIR spectroscopy studies. Absorptions of these grown crystals were analyzed using UV–Vis–
NIR studies, and it was found that these crystals possess minimum absorption in the entire visible region.
Nonlinear optical studies of pure and doped crystals were carried out and it reveals that the dopants have
increased the efficiency of KDP crystals. Dielectric measurements were carried out along both the unique axis
and perpendicular directions at various temperatures ranging from 40 to 150 °C. The dielectric constant and the
dielectric loss values of N-N′ allylthiourea doped KDP crystals were lower than the pure KDP crystals. Also, it
indicates that 0.8 mole% N-N′ allylthiourea addition to KDP leads to low permittivity value dielectrics. The
results are discussed.

Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate (KDP) crystals are one of the most popular crystals used for Non-linear
Optical (NLO) applications. Pure KDP single crystals and KDP crystals doped with N-N′ allylthiourea were
grown by the method of slow evaporation from aqueous solutions. The grown pure and doped crystals were
confirmed by X-ray single crystal and powder diffraction studies. The pure and doped crystals were
characterized by FTIR spectroscopy studies. Absorptions of these grown crystals were analyzed using UV–Vis–
NIR studies, and it was found that these crystals possess minimum absorption in the entire visible region.
Nonlinear optical studies of pure and doped crystals were carried out and it reveals that the dopants have
increased the efficiency of KDP crystals. Dielectric measurements were carried out along both the unique axis
and perpendicular directions at various temperatures ranging from 40 to 150 °C. The dielectric constant and the
dielectric loss values of N-N′ allylthiourea doped KDP crystals were lower than the pure KDP crystals. Also, it
indicates that 0.8 mole% N-N′ allylthiourea addition to KDP leads to low permittivity value dielectrics. The
results are discussed.

IRJET - Photoluminescence Study of Rare Earth Doped ZnO Nanoparticles
This document reports on a study of photoluminescence properties of rare earth doped ZnO nanoparticles. ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized using a chemical method with thiourea as a capping agent. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy were used to characterize the structural and morphological properties. The particle sizes measured from XRD were 56nm for doped samples and 66nm for undoped. SEM images showed agglomerated nanoparticles without distinct structures. Absorption spectra showed band gaps of 4.32eV for undoped and 4.28eV for doped samples. Photoluminescence excitation and emission spectra of doped samples exhibited characteristic peaks of Eu3+ ions.

Preparation and Properties of Nanocrystalline Zinc Oxide Thin Films
Metal oxide is highly important material which possesses many unique optical and electrical properties for applications in many areas such as Solar cells, Gas sensors and so on. With the development of research and applications of Metal oxide thin films, research results are verified that the morphology of Metal oxide thin films are plays an important role in applications of these films. Variety of morphologies, complex structure has been developed by physical or chemical methods. However the work on controlled growth of these films is still in developing state. Therefore in present work we deposited ZnS and ZnO metal oxides thin films on different substrates by Chemical Bath Deposition Technique. Structural, Surface Morphology and Optical properties of as deposited films were investigated by XRD, SEM, and UV VIS Spectrophotometer. The band gap is also calculated from the equation relating absorption co efficient to wavelength. The band gap indicates the film is transmitting within the visible range and the band gaps changes because of the grain size of the films. We also observed that, the change in preparative parameters affects the deposition rate of thin films. From the observation, it is clear that the growth rate increases as the deposition temperature, increases. S. S. Characterization with XRD, FTIR and SEM showed that increasing PVP concentration decreased particle size and altered morphology from narrow leaves to shortened, broadened leaves. Photocatalytic testing demonstrated that the sample with the highest PVP concentration degraded Congo Red dye in sunlight most effectively within 4 hours, indicating smaller size and higher surface area enhanced photocatalytic activity.

Gadolinium oxide nanoparticles were synthesized using a low temperature solution combustion method with urea as a fuel. Characterization using XRD, SEM, TEM, Raman spectroscopy, and XPS confirmed the monoclinic phase and average particle size of around 10 nm. XRD showed high crystallinity with no impurities. SEM showed spherical morphology. TEM showed individual nanocrystals around 8 nm. Raman spectroscopy showed characteristic peaks for gadolinium oxide. 1) The paper presents a probability analysis of slope stability using the Monte Carlo simulation method to account for uncertainty in parameters like pore water pressure, cohesion, and internal angle of friction.
2) The results of the Monte Carlo simulation method are compared to other recognized methods of slope stability analysis like Bishop simplified, Fellenuis, Janbu simplified and corrected, Spencer and Lowe-Karafiath which use limit equilibrium.
3) The probability analysis finds that the failure probability is most affected by the standard deviation of pore water pressure, cohesion, internal angle of friction, and correlation coefficient between parameters, though individual limit equilibrium methods only account for one of these parameters in each analysis.

Current applications of QDs are wide-spread, their use as fluorescence labels in bioassays being one of the most promising applications. CdSe semiconductor nanoparticles (NPs) have been prepared by the organometallic pyrolysis method developed by Murray et al , and modified by Peng et al. The formation of the quantum dot nanoparticles have been clearly seen in the TEM images. Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) has confirmed the structure of the products. In addition, the crystalline phase and the size distribution of the nanocrystals have been determined by XRD and TEM, respectively .The optical properties have been assessed by UV-Vis measurements.
