This document summarizes an abstract from the 9th International Scientific Conference on Applied Sciences and Engineering. The abstract discusses some biochemical markers that can predict pre-eclampsia. It states that tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) directly damages vascular endothelial cells and increases endothelial permeability, which may result in secretion of vasoactive substances and increased vascular permeability and coagulation. This involvement of TNF-α in the pathogenesis of pre-eclampsia means it may identify patients at high risk for the condition and serve as a marker of severity. Preeclamptic women also have abnormal lipid metabolism and profiles due to pre-eclampsia, and this alteration in lipid metabolism may play a key role in developing symptoms.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a ubiquitous bacterium that causes various hospital- acquired and community-acquired infections. It has been reported that the clinical isolates of P. aeruginosa are difficult to treat because of their virulence factors and antibiotics resistances. The aim of present study was to screen the antibiotic resistance patterns and the prevalence of virulence factor genes in a set of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from Ogbomoso, and to determine whether a correlation exists between the prevalence of virulence factors and antibiotic resistance of P. aeruginosa. A total of 100 P. aeruginosa isolates were collected from various types of clinical specimens. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was performed using the Kirby-bauer method. In addition, PCR assays were used for screening four virulence encoding genes (OPRL, LasB, PLCH and ToxA). The results showed that OPRL (79%) and LasB (62%) were the most frequent virulence genes in P. aeruginosa strains, followed by PLCH (41%) and ToxA (35%). The highest resistance was detected towards Piperacillin (42%) and Tetracycline (42%). Moderate rate of resistance (12-39%) were detected towards the other antibiotics. The virulent factors identified in this study provide valuable information regarding the prevalence of resistance genes of P. aeruginosa isolates in Ogbomoso, Nigeria and their potential impact on treatments that exploit the unique physiology of the pathogen. This will be useful for the health workers to improve infection control measures and to establish a surveillance system.

Notably, higher concentrations of HA have been found in patients
with respiratory inflammation and COVID-19. As, bovhyaluronidase azoximer (Longidaza®) catalyses the hydrolysis of HA, the
treatment has the potential to lower HA concentrations and improve lung function in patients with post-COVID-19 syndrome

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Abstract
TNF– α directly damages the vascular endothelial cells, reduces regional blood flow,
causes occlusion of vessels and increases endothelial permeability. Endothelial cell
injury after TNF– α mediated activation of immune system may result in secretion of
vasoactive substances and increase in vascular permeability and intravascular
coagulation. TNF-α may be involved in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia and may
identify the patients who are at high risk of PE and can be a potential marker of the
severity of the preeclamptic syndrome. Preeclamptic women had deranged lipid profile
due to abnormal lipid metabolism; this alteration of lipid metabolism may play a key
role in the development of symptoms of Pre-eclampsia. Furthermore, changes to lipid
metabolism may contribute towards the endothelial lesions observed in pre-eclampsia.
