1. Eye Contact: EXC.
2. Voice/ Intonation: Your voice is clear and loud.
3. Classroom Management Skills (discipline):
Students were very respectful, even though they came from the PE lesson, which can be
sometimes messy.
Pupils (especially the girls) participated all the time.
4. Teacher’s Roles: Controller, organizer, assessor, prompter, organizer. VG.
You constantly provided feedback in a friendly way. Great!
5. Students’ grouping: Students sat individually due to Covid-19 protocol.
6. Stages in the class:
ROUTINE: Nice “hello” song. You wrote the date on the blackboard.
WARM-UP: Great. It was a warm-up about how to cross the street.
PRESENTATION: You presented the actions related to crossing a street: stop, look right/left.
PRACTICE: They practiced in a handout a lot!
PRODUCTION:
FOLLOW-UP:
7. Macroskills: Listening, reading, writing.
8. Following the plan: VG.
9. Use the blackboard: EXC. You cleaned the blackboard when you entered, and you even called
for an assistant.
Nice and clear handwriting.
You also displayed some of the flashcards on the blackboard.
For future lessons, you could also check the activities on the whiteboard. You can ask students to
come to the board and write their answers. They will be eager to do that!
10. Use of AIDS: EXC. Visual aids were present all the time: flashcards, pictures.
11. Materials prepared by trainees: EXC.
Great flashcards related to the topic. They are big enough for students to see.
The handout was clear, organized and really attractive. Thank you for your effort to print them in
colour. It shows that you really care about your students.
12. Use of a textbook: -
13. Rapport with the students: EXC. Students returned from the PE lesson and hugged you. You
named them. You smiled all the time and showed interest in what they were doing.
14: Classroom setting: Respectful. Students participated all the time.
15: Methodological approach followed: CLIL - PPP
FINAL COMMENTS:
WHAT WENT WELL:
- Excellent time management. You encourage students to end their activities, you corrected them
and provided feedback.
- You went around the tables to see if students had done the activities. You provided feedback to
all of them. This has positive aspects but also some drawbacks, because you spend a lot of time
correcting, while some other students had already finished. You can also make use of the
whiteboard and check the activities all together.
- Students were enthusiastic and eager to participate.
SUGGESTIONS:
Display all the flashcards on the blackboard, so that students can look at them when they do not
remember a word or phrase. In this way, you are also enhancing students’ autonomy.

Question for reflection: You mentioned when you finished your lesson that you did not like the
activities that you had prepared. Now that you have already taught the lesson, what changed would

Prof. Joana Herrán CLASSROOM OBSERVATION PRACTICE II (2021) TRAINEE’S NAME: Luján Castagneto School: 240 Course: 6th grade Mentor teacher: Juan Andrés Martín Date: Wednesday 13th, October 1. Eye Contact: EXC. 2. Voice/ Intonation: Your voice is clear and loud. 3. Classroom Management Skills (discipline): Students were very respectful, even though they came from the PE lesson, which can be sometimes messy. Pupils (especially the girls) participated all the time. 4. Teacher’s Roles: Controller, organizer, assessor, prompter, organizer. VG. You constantly provided feedback in a friendly way. Great! 5. Students’ grouping: Students sat individually due to Covid-19 protocol. 6. Stages in the class: ROUTINE: Nice “hello” song. You wrote the date on the blackboard. WARM-UP: Great. It was a warm-up about how to cross the street. PRESENTATION: You presented the actions related to crossing a street: stop, look right/left. PRACTICE: They practiced in a handout a lot! PRODUCTION: FOLLOW-UP: 7. Macroskills: Listening, reading, writing.
  • 2. 8. Following the plan: VG. 9. Use the blackboard: EXC. You cleaned the blackboard when you entered, and you even called for an assistant. Nice and clear handwriting. You also displayed some of the flashcards on the blackboard. For future lessons, you could also check the activities on the whiteboard. You can ask students to come to the board and write their answers. They will be eager to do that! 10. Use of AIDS: EXC. Visual aids were present all the time: flashcards, pictures. 11. Materials prepared by trainees: EXC. Great flashcards related to the topic. They are big enough for students to see. The handout was clear, organized and really attractive. Thank you for your effort to print them in colour. It shows that you really care about your students. 12. Use of a textbook: - 13. Rapport with the students: EXC. Students returned from the PE lesson and hugged you. You named them. You smiled all the time and showed interest in what they were doing. 14: Classroom setting: Respectful. Students participated all the time. 15: Methodological approach followed: CLIL - PPP FINAL COMMENTS: WHAT WENT WELL: - Excellent time management. You encourage students to end their activities, you corrected them and provided feedback. - You went around the tables to see if students had done the activities. You provided feedback to all of them. This has positive aspects but also some drawbacks, because you spend a lot of time correcting, while some other students had already finished. You can also make use of the whiteboard and check the activities all together.
  • 3. - Students were enthusiastic and eager to participate. SUGGESTIONS: Display all the flashcards on the blackboard, so that students can look at them when they do not remember a word or phrase. In this way, you are also enhancing students’ autonomy. GRADE: __9 (nine)_____ Question for reflection: You mentioned when you finished your lesson that you did not like the activities that you had prepared. Now that you have already taught the lesson, what changed would you make? Do you think that students reached the objectives that you had established? Why/why not?
