    JUAN’S SCHOOL TIMETABLE MondayTUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY SATURDAY SUNDAY Language Sports Maths Science Maths BREAK Language Science Maths Language Sports ➢ Development:     Activity  1:  10  minutes   Purpose:  Foster  contextualized  practice  of  the  teaching  points.  Focus  on  specific   vocabulary  related  directly  to  the  class  topic.   I  ask  the  students  to  complete  some  sentences  about  Juan’s  School  Timetable.  I  provide   them  first  an  example  on  the  whiteboard  so  that  all  the  students  understand  the  task.     I  check  if  they  understand  what  the  activity  is  about  and  monitor  the  activity.     Once  they’ve  finished,  we  check  it  with  the  whole  class  writing  on  the  board  the  correct   sentences.         1. Complete the sentences with the days of the week:   a) Juan  has  Maths  on  ……………………………  and  …………………………….   b) He  has  Sports  on…………………………….and  …………………………………   c) He  has  Science  on  …………………………..and  ………………………………..   d) He  has  English  on  …………………………….and  ………………………………..       Transition:  After  doing  this  activity,  I  tell  them:  “Excellent  job!  Let’s  work  more  with  the   days  of  the  week!!!     Activity  2:  20  minutes   Purpose:  review  the  vocabulary  and  to  further  expose  to  the  new  vocabulary.   Materials:  an  empty  school  timetable  for  each  student,  a  whiteboard  and  markers.   I  tell  the  students:  “This  School  timetable  is  for  you.  Now  you  can  design  your  school   timetable.”   The   students   will   be   allowed   to   sit   in   small   groups   to   do   the   activity.   I’ll   monitor  the  activity  and  provide  the  vocabulary  items  as  necesasry.     2.     Monday TUESDAY WEDNESDAYTHURSDAY FRIDAY SATURDAY SUNDAY     Transition:  I  say  to  my  students:  “Great!!!  Now,  you  can  have  it  in  your  notebook!!!     Activity  3:  25  minutes   Purpose:  Work  collaborative  and  review  the  vocabulary.  Further  expose  the  learners  to   the  new  lexical  items.     Materials:  black  and  colour  pencils,  link  of  the  book  “Today  is  Monday”:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meZpwOoTJ70  and  a  Menu.     I’ll  ask  the  students  to  sit  down  in  groups  of  four  students.  I  tell  the  students  that  the   menu  in  the  school  has  changed,  so  new  food  items  are  in  the  menu.  I’ll  check  the   comprehension  of  the  different  food  items  (chicken,  fresh  fish,  roast  beef,  soup,   spaghetti,  string  beans,  ice-­‐cream).   3.     As  a  first  activity  they  listen  first  the  song  without  watching  the  video  and  identify  the   days  of  the  weeks.  In  the  second  listening  activity,  they  are  asked  to  match  the  food   with  the  days  of  the  week.  Once  they’ve  finished,  I  choose  two  or  three  menus  at   random  and  they  share  their  work  with  the  rest  of  the  class  and  sing  all  together  the   song.  I  provide  assistance  if  any  additional  new  vocabulary  is  needed.         Closure:    10  minutes   Purpose:  Review  the  vocabulary  and  end  this  lesson.     At  this  stage  I  tell  the  students:  “Juan  likes  eating  ice-­‐cream  a  lot.  Can  you  discover   which  days  Juan  eats  ice-­‐cream?”     4.
