A 45-year-old woman who had two normal vaginal deliveries noticed a swelling in her umbilicus two years ago that caused pain during her period and occasional bleeding. A clinical examination revealed a deformed umbilicus due to a hard, bluish-black mass that was not hot. Ultrasound images showed a well-defined, solid mass located in the umbilical cavity that measured 2.68 cm and received blood flow from its periphery. Elastography indicated the mass was harder than muscle tissue. No other abnormalities were found in the uterus or pelvis.
