Intercultural Identity
An individual s culture, upbringing, privileges, orientation etc. all affect how one views the world. In
order to confront difficult issues, such as social justice, one must realize how their positionality effects
their epistemologies. Takacs (2002) states that when we develop the skill of understanding how we
know what we know, we acquire a key to lifelong learning (p. 28). Being able to discern why we view
the world in a certain way leads to truths about one s own identity, such as their privileges in society.
However, these identities are not always apparent. Tatum (2000) states that it is our targeted identities
that hold our attention, while the dominant identities go unexamined (p. 7). In order to develop a
holistic sense of self, we must examine all parts of our being. As my interviewer remarked: you have
to know who you are, and how you show up in pieces, and the impact that may give to others, because
that definitely contributes (A. Rubango, personal communication, September 13, 2017). Every person
has their own multitude of identities. My interviewer s own identity contains numerous components as
a female, an immigrant from the Congo, and having a middle class SES. Through her many target and
dominant identities, she has acknowledged how these pieces have given her a unique viewpoint on the
world, and how they have affected her view on issues, such as those pertaining to social justice.
Exploring one s identity is crucial, but it is vital on the

Of Humanity In The Novel And Quentin Tarantino s Pulp...
Textual form has changed throughout time to reflect different ideals, values and notions of human
ontology in a world seemingly void of meaning. Throughout the 20th centaury, post modern artists
have disrupted traditional paradigms of thinking that have governed our lives and forged out
perceptions of selfhood and linear time. Emerging from the horror of world war II as well as the
emptiness that accompanied it, composers were forced to contemplate upon the very meaning of
human existence. And although composers since this time have varied with context, perspective and
purpose, the continued struggle to reason for humanities existence remains as an undercurrent in all
texts. This search for meaning, which has been explored by several composers, has manifested into,
and is representative of the directionless state of humanity, and struggle in identifying our own
identities. Thus, texts of the postmodern era expose and question the unstable ontological grounds that
humanity is founded upon. Jean Luc Godard French New Wave Film, A Bout De Souffle (1960)
questions whether our existence is validated by self, or recognition from others. Kurt Vonnegut s
Slaughterhouse 5 (1972) uses a non linear plot to communicate how we are forever incarnated in the
human figure to learn and to grow. Conversely, Quentin Tarantino s Pulp Fiction (1994) represents the
interconnectedness and solidarity humanity, while Barry Jenkin s film, Moonlight (2016) raises
existential questions about the

Development Of Infants And Toddlers
INTRODUCTION
I. I m sure we can all relate to the moment when you first meet a new born, infant or even toddler and
all you can say is Awh how cute he or she is , and how much you just want to pinch those chubby
cheeks or tickle those little toes.
II. Whether you ve had a child of our own, have a younger sibling, or even may have never been
around young children before, we all have our own experiences and unique ways of interacting with
them.
III. These little cute bundles of joy, or maybe occasionally not so joyful at times have much more than
just cute looks. From birth to five years of age they are actually going through a critical period of
development that is a complex and vital to their growth for years to come.
IV. Ever since I was a young girl I have always had a great interest in learning about the development
of infants and toddlers. Now, as I enter my senior year in the Family and Child Sciences Department
at Florida State University, I have gained great one on one personal experience working with children
ranging from zero to ten years old.
As we all might know the obvious physical developmental signs an infant goes through known as
growth. What many may not know is the stages a child moves through known as, child developmental
stages or milestones. This includes how the child becomes able to do more complex things as they get
older. Such as Gross and fine motor skills, Social and Language skills, and lastly Cognitive Skills.

Edward Heath Economy In The 1980 s Essay
During the 1960s, and the 1970s Britain economy decline with factors of productivity, inflation, strike
and rising living standard Many historians refer Britain as the sick man of Europe , and the blame for
its decline were faunlike to new plant and machinery, rise of competition, loss of market, childish
management and poor working practices. With high inflation, careless trade union power and low
growth made Britain the weak line I the international capitalist economic system. In order to improve
inflation, the try to agree to annual wage rise with in workplace. This policy idea was to manage price

Internet Searching
INTERNET SEARCHING
AUGUST 2012
Preface
Online search / internet searching has become an essential for students and scholars. What typically
took place in libraries, by phone calls or visits to experts in the field is being changed because of the
Internet. Experts can sometimes be contacted by email and information, whether it is addresses, phone
numbers, or detailed specifics on a certain subject, can be accessed on the World Wide Web. Search
Engines have become the most important tools in locating this information, so it is important to know
how to use them effectively. Search skills can be developed through practice in using the search
engines and by reading the help pages provided by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The appeal of the Internet to these bodies was obvious, as it allowed disparate institutions to connect
to each others computing systems and databases, as well as share data via E mail. The nature of the
Internet changed abruptly in 1992, when the U.S. government began pulling out of network
management, and commercial entities offered Internet access to the general public for the first time.
This change in focus marked the beginning of the Internet s astonishing expansion. In addition to text
documents, the Internet makes available graphics files (digitized photographs and artwork), and even
files that contain digitized sound and video. Through the Internet, you can download software,
participate in interactive forums where users post and respond to public messages, and even join chats,
in which you and other users type (and, in some cases, speak) messages that are received by the chat
participants instantly. Obviously, the Internet can bring you a whole host of capabilities. But how can
they be put to practical use? Among the ways that users take advantage of the Internet are: Sharing
research and business data among colleagues and like minded individuals. Communicating with others
and transmitting files via E mail. Requesting and providing assistance with problems and questions.
Marketing and publicizing products and services. Gathering valuable feedback and suggestions from
customers and business

Favelas Essay
Introduction The street parties and music of the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, called baile funk, are a topic
that has been studied by relatively few scholars. Perhaps it is due to the violent nature of the parties, as
one person familiar with the realities of favelas states [Do researchers] have any idea what a real
favela is like? 14 year old kids with AR 15s, AK 47s, and MAC 11s all around? (Robinson, 2004, p.
1). Furthermore, it is difficult to gain an honest account of the cultural significance from the point of
view of people who have not grown up in the favelas and build their impressions of the favelas
through the lens of the media. Yet, the moral panic as a result of the negative perception of bailes funk

Gangs dictate and control the operation of more than six hundred identifiable favelas as they battle for
power, resulting in more than fifty homicides per week. The police believe they are fighting in a civil
war of resiliency, killing nearly nine hundred people living in favelas per year. Despite the moral panic
of outside citizens, one in five people living in Rio de Janeiro identify themselves as favelados ,
leading them to fight for what they consider to be normal life within the favelas (Favela on Blast,
2008).
A subculture has emerged in the favelas since the early 1980s, shaped by street parties called bailes
funk, literally defined as funk balls . The bailes funk are the heart of the favelas consisting of street
parties driven by a musical genre of dance and hip hop, which was developed in the favelas and
influenced by Miami bass and African style music, called funk carioca (Favela on Blast, 2008). The
music makes frequent use of samples and looped tracks, often resulting in unoriginal content with
minimal production. The music is identifiable as loud, sexual, shockingly vulgar, and focuses on
subjects such as romance, sex, violence, humor, and social aspects of the favelas (Sneed, 2008).
Brazilian funk does not sound similar to funk genres typical of other countries from around the world.
With the emergence of funk carioca, a new subculture was born. Funk proibidão, meaning prohibited
funk , is the result of authorities trying to hide

Personal Statement On Decision And Risk Management
that I am really eager to take a learn about, and it is a class on decision and risk management. With
that class I am hoping to gain the critical thinking process needed to make big decisions financially
and to lead my future employees and co workers wisely when those decisions need to be made. I know
that to be a good engineer I will have to stay up to date on current events and advancements in the
world of technology, and I believe that the classes outlined in the academic plan of study will truly be
a benefit to me in acquiring the necessary skills that this job will require. Although I have researched
the topic of my career choice in systems engineering extensively, I still have so many questions about
it. I am eager to know how long it will take for me to climb the ladder and work my way up through
each job before I could potentially become something like a project manager. I have decided to reach
out to some people in this career that can better inform me on questions like this, because I want to
fully know what it is that I am getting into.
I know that to be a successful engineer, I will have to learn much more than just academic topics, and
I am prepared to do so. I know I must learn attention to detail, I must learn to make sense of hard and
complex problems, I must learn to be a team player while leading along side of my co workers, and I
must learn to form the excellent technical knowledge to figure out solutions to problems. A little

The Average And Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken
W.H. Auden s The Average and Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken mutually explore fate and how
decisions affect it. Auden considers this through a young man s journey towards the future while Frost
conveys it through a reflection on a past choice. The parents of Auden s protagonist metaphorically
killed themselves with toil granting him the opportunity to seek a profession that symbolically
encourages shallow breathing placing pressure on the speaker to ensure their efforts were not futile. In
contrast, Frost s character chose his path long ago and visualises his decision through a metaphorical
branching forest route with two possible options, despite looking down one as far as [he] could

of danger and is instead concerned with the notion of failure. Similarly, Frost s text carries this sense

Internal Controls Of A Sports Coach
1. For a collage sports coach to win as many games as possible, it is imperative that the coach studies
and collects information about the team in order to receive feedback about how his strategy is working
and make any changes if necessary. As part of possible controls that should be implemented are:
Established an aggressive recruitment strategy. The implementation of a competitive an effective
training. The compilation of the results of the previous games to establish if the game strategy is being
effective or needs changes. Compilation of information about the other teams and their strategies to

As the authors Garrison, Noreen, and Brewer pointed out in the textbook, for managers, in this case a
coach, is important to understand the concept of internal control as is the process that provide a
reasonable surety that the goals of the company or team are being achieved. (p.24). Within the internal
controls are two types of controls, such as: preventive control and detective control. 2.
Unquestionably, my main objective post graduation is to get a job. As part of the control activities to

1. What would it take for AMD to see a significant increase in its market share in processors used in
corporate desktops and notebooks? How can the success of Opteron in the server segment be
leveraged to other segments?
Before coming back on the success of Opteron , AMD s product range in the server segment, we have
to explain the history of the company and what leads AMD to launch this new innovative and
disruptive product line in 2003.
For years, AMD held the place of a distant follower of the large microprocessor market leader, Intel.
Up to there, the competitor Intel led the market (with a push strategy) by creating consumer needs
thanks to technological innovations. Those were linked with strong marketing campaign in order to
facilitate a quicker adoption process of their new product line. However, in 2003, AMD change its
traditional strategy to use a widely different one by switching into a blue ocean strategy. Indeed, AMD
has changed course to become a starter firm. AMD has decided to launch at first its own brand server
microprocessor range, called Opteron before one of Intel. At this moment, the firm made the decision
to initiate the moves of server segment and therefore take heavier risks in term of investments, sales,

Social Psychologist Philip Zimbardo s Prison Experiment...
When we see people doing bad things we assume it is because they are bad people. Social
Psychologist Philip Zimbardo would argue that this isn t true. In April 2004 disturbing and graphic
pictures surfaced, showing American soldiers mentally and physically abusing Iraqi prisoners held at
the Abu Ghraib prison located in Bagdad. Looking at the photos that was surfaced, it looks strikingly
familiar to those in the Stanford prison experiment that was done many years ago. The prisoners had
bags over their heads and were subjected to all kinds of sexual and inhumane humiliation. The
military went on the defence saying those officers were a few bad apples. To understand why the
military soldiers at the Abu Grahib prison abused the Iraqi prisoners, we need to look back at the
lessons of Philip Zimbardo s prison experiment and Stanley Milgram s Obedience to Authority
experiment. The results of these experiments showed that there are a set of social psychological
factors that can make ordinary people do things they could have never imagined doing. It shows how
people respond when placed in cruel environments without clear rules, do bad things. I will look at
Zimbardo s case of Good apples in bad barrels. And I will try to understand what lead to the abuses
that occurred within the walls of Abu Ghraib. Philip Zimbardo made it evident that in his analysis it
was the military command and the Bush Administration that created the evil system that created the
bad barrel that

Essay about Challenges Faced by Immigrants
Challenges Faced by Immigrants
The changing environments throughout the ages have caused the movement of thousands of families
out of their homelands. Whether forced to make such decisions or doing so by their own desires, all
immigrants have had to survive the physical and psychological challenges encountered along the way.
To speak about the experiences of all these different people using the same ideas and examples would
be quite inaccurate. They all, however, had to live through similar situations and deal with similar
problems. Many of them succeeded and found the better future they were looking for. Many others
found only hardship and experienced the destruction of their hopes and dreams. All of them were
transformed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many immigrants feel the same way about the things they leave. I know I did when I left my home
country of Bulgaria. My parents were hoping to provide my brother and me with a brighter future by
moving to the US, the country where anything is possible, or so everyone said. It was 1998 and I was
thirteen. I still remember the day we left and how hard it was for my whole family. Through tears, I
said goodbye to all my relatives and friends whom I cherished and loved. I felt as if the whole world
was closing up in me. I was being taken away from everything I knew and everything I loved. The
cool breeze of that autumn day rushed through me as if foreshadowing a hard and cold future. The
moment came for us to get on the plane. I wanted to stop time and run away, back to everything I
knew. But that was impossible; the choice of turning back did not exist. As I was going up the stairs of
the plane, I looked around at the airport and its surroundings. I looked and saw the warmth and light of
the familiar places. I took a deep breath of the air around me, knowing it was the last time I could
sense it, and went in. It really was hard for

There were nearly 10 million men dead of the 65 million men who fought in World War I (Harden).
Frederic Henry is the driving code hero in A Farewell to Arms through the war as he shows much
courage through the warzone, powers courageously through a struggle to validate himself, and acts in
a realistic manner through his struggle with Catherine. Through his injuries from the blast, Frederic
Henry shows that he is the main code hero as he exhibits courage by being eager to rush out of the
hospital. After being hit by the blast, the doctor in the hospital inquire of Frederic, Do you want to

than going every evening to the house for officers where the girls climbed all over you and put your

not love Catherine Barkley nor had any idea of loving her. This was a game, like bridge, in which you
said things instead of playing cards. Like bridge you had to pretend you were playing for money or
laying for some stakes. Nobody had mentioned what the stakes were. It was all right with me
(Hemingway 25). When the narrator states This was a game, he shows that he is not with her for the
emotional part, but because he needs to be with her to escape the place where his masculinity goes to
die, with sexual women and officers with more to prove. Frederic shows a need to validate himself
against his fellow soldiers and Catherine fills the role perfectly. While recuperating in the hospital,
Rindali and Frederic argue, Be serious. You must have done something heroic either before or after.

The Truth Is Out There Analysis
In the recent scenario, it seems like the earth is very small as we got connected to every part of the

Mars in this century. In the age, if advanced technology, Humans have covered trillions of miles in the
universe through high tech telescopes, so it is more likely that humans may find extraterrestrial life
before they come finding humans. Astrophysicists and alien astronomers have been trying to locate the
existence of extraterrestrials for decades by the use of technology like radio communication and

Dr Caligari Close Up
The silent film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920), is a German expressionist film. The film illustrates
subjectivity, an askew world and expression through its sets, costumes, shots, editing, and acting. Film
theorist Mungsterberg s main idea is that the film overcomes reality through manipulation and
transformation of space, time, and causality. In addition, Mungsterberg emphasizes that the form of
the film should match the content to create unity. Similarly, theorist Balazs main point is how close up
s help transform reality in relation to quality and expression. He highlights the importance of how
close ups reveal the most visual details of life, which portray emotion, mood, intentions, and thoughts.

Caligari would be that the film transforms reality due to the amount of close up s used to evoke
emotion, mood, intentions, and thoughts. Balazs states that The close ups of the film are the creative
instruments of this might visual anthropomorphism (Balazs 119). Balazs basically explains how the
close up gives the viewer a new perspective of reality through the close up. Plus, the close up shows
us things we cannot see like: human characteristics, behaviors and objects in detail to demonstrate
power and emotion. For example, in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari when Cesare tells Alan that he is only
going to live until dawn there is a close up of Alan s face showing extreme terror. This creates an
emphasis on human emotions and behaviors which helps the viewer relate and possibly identify with
the character. Also the close up in this example helps the audience understand the dramatic scene that
is unfolding through the expression of the character. To sum up, Balazs would agree that The Cabinet
of Dr. Caligari transforms reality through the use of close ups by illustrating emotions and behaviors
that the viewer cannot see through a medium or wide

Person 1 told me that all the documents before 2013 on the budget office could be archived; however,
when I talked to person 2 (this page was his specialist), he told me that he would like to still keep

people s job within the budget office. As for the SCM team, I know that one of the SMEs was
frustrated because someone with permission was able moved their documents from one place to

any confusion later on. For some people, they believe that not everybody should have permissions to

Queen Elizabeth I Figurative Language
The 16th hundreds advanced the conflict between religions in Europe, due to acts like the separation
of England from the pope s jurisdiction. This lead to the war of England against the Spanish Armada
in 1588. Therefore, the English Queen, Elizabeth Tudor, composed the widely acclaimed speech
directed at the troops at Tilbury, augmenting the feelings of patriotism in the soldier s hearts, creating
a passionate fervor for their country before this alarming battle. Additionally, to empathetically
motivate the troops to defend England from invaders, Queen Elizabeth I operate declarative syntax,
diverse figurative language, and positive diction. Initially, Queen Elizabeth I s declarative syntax
makes her seem less imposing, regardless of her title, and more sympathetic. For instance, instead of
pressuring the people to follow her will, such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did when saying,
Whenever racial discrimination exists it is a tragic expression of man s spiritual degeneracy and moral
bankruptcy. Therefore, it must be removed not merely because it is diplomatically expedient, but
because it is morally compelling , the Queen uses declarative sentences that just persuade people to do
what she wants, defend the country. Similarly, the Queen of England utilizes long descriptive
sentences such as, I know I have the body, but of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart and
stomach of a king, and of a king of England too, and think foul scorn that Parma or Spain, or any

A Brief History Of United States Mental Health Care Essay
PRELIMINARY LITERATURE REVIEW A brief history of the United States mental health care The
United States has never had an official federal centered approach for mental health care facilities,
entrusting its responsibility to the states throughout the history. The earliest initiatives in this field took
place in the 18th century, when Virginia built its first asylum and Pennsylvania Hospital reserved its
basement to house individuals with mental disorders (Sundararaman, 2009). During the 19th century,
other services were built, but their overall lack of quality was alarming. Even then, researchers and
professionals in the mental health field attempted to implement the principles of the so called public
health, focusing on prevention and early intervention, but the funds were in the hands of the local
governments, which prevented significant advances in this direction. In 1946, President Truman
signed the National Mental Health Act, allowing federal funds for education and research in mental
health. By the time of the Great Depression and the World War II, asylums were in unsustainable

federal extent, Congress passed the Mental Health Study Act in 1955, establishing a commission to

The Myth Of The Latin Woman Summary
When people hear the world prejudice, he thinks that refers to racial prejudice among those who have
fair skin and those with dark skin. However, prejudice is more than skin color. Prejudice is among
gender, religion, culture, geographic origin and race. Prejudice has become a complex problem in our
society. In the story The Myth of the Latin Woman written by Judith Ortiz Cofer, she discusses how
people impose the identity of Latinas as terms of social stereotype. Judith Ortiz is a Latin woman
suffering from stereotypes. Although it is an educated woman, prejudice and stereotypes they have
followed throughout his career, and aims to prove them wrong. In the documentary ¨Straight Man in a
Gay World¨ by the 30 Days serie, it shows us how at the beginning Ryan a heterosexual man
prejudiced homosexual people. Ryan is an American boy with a strong religion who must live for 30
days in the homosexual culture. The point of view of Ryan about homosexual is negative because he
knows that in the bible says that being a homosexual is wrong. So, he has many prejuice against

to see here is that people defines who you are before knowing you, and all time prejudice is wrong
because all people have different way of thinking, personality and goals. The way how Judith Ortiz
shows to the old lady that she was wrong was that day as I read I looked at her during my presentation
to show her that she was wrong (Ortiz 113). By doing this Ortiz show to her that prejudice people

We Watched As A Class
A. The first term to be discussed is Group. States by Henslin as Set of people who interact on the basis
of shared expectations and who possess some degree of identity (145).
A part of being in MS 13 is that all people involved are one group. They all follow the same rules and
respect the same leader. In parts of the documentary we watched as a class, we seen how MS 13 is ran
in some sorts like a business. Everyone in MS 13 has a job and duty to fulfill, and there are
consequences for not following the guidelines. Even though MS 13 members are extremely dangerous
people, they still show community and compassion toward one another. Also, the group has to be kept
by itself in some situations, for example, there are entire prisons ... Show more content on

B. The next term to be discussed is Status. Henslin defines status as Socially defined position in a
group or in a society. Each status has attached to it one or more roles .
When most people think of the word status, they think of where it places them in society. If you have a
higher status you might be considered a more important human being. If you have a lower status you
might be considered poor or in poverty . But what does it mean to have a status as a gang? That
questions certainly can t be answered by me correctly, however I would imagine in a world of gangs
having the highest status would make you the most feared gang. If you are going to join a gang, it
might as well be one worth joining such as MS 13. If MS 13 is recognized worldwide as the most
dangerous gang then they probably are! Having a status like that on the streets would make other
gangs stay away from you, as well as make people afraid to tell you no or show you consequences. In
the video we watched as a class police enforcement coming up short every time when they would bust
them for drugs or something else. It made me wonder if the police really were being out smarted or if
they didn t want to dig too deep into an unfamiliar territory. Even though MS 13 is recognized as the
world s most dangerous gang, everyone seems to know little information about them. It is still
unknown whether not

Sexuality In Media Analysis
Sexualization of females has always been a problem. Many of the commercials from the 60 s to the
2000 s depict women as nothing more than sexual beings to sell a product. We often see commercials
that deal nothing with the topic of sex use it as a means of a way to sell products. In my presentation I
used two videos one with Paris HIlton and the other with Scarlett Johannson. They each are
advertising two well known companies one fast food restaurant and the other a well known appliance.
In my essay I will explain how sexuality in media affects adolescents, the percentage between men

In spite of major cryptographic advances, failure to ensure compatibility between centralization,
anonymity, and double spending prevention, eventually put the viability of this new form of money
into question. Three decades later, Bitcoin has acquired notoriety on the global marketplace, by
replacing the central server s signature with a consensus mechanism based on proof of work (Back et
al, 2014, p.3). The novelty and improvement over Chaum s thought experiment are the decentralized
nature of the payment system allowed by block chain technology, thereby ushering in a new era that
extends beyond global payments, to corporate governance, social institutions, democratic participation
and the functioning of capital markets (Wright and De Filippi, 2015, p.3). In this chapter, we present
the main principles behind this revolutionary technology as well as some cutting edge applications. In
a first part, we present the core concepts. Secondly, we discuss a definition by Vitalik Buterin, the
distinction between public and private block chains, and the features of public ledgers. Thirdly, after
restating the foundational and disruptive nature of this technology, we present the risks and drawbacks
of public distributed ledgers, and show why the latter explain the shift toward hybrid solutions.
Finally, we sketch out a list of important applications, bearing in mind the most recent developments.

Weapons of the American Civil War Essay
Weapons of the American Civil War
Amongst the most lasting of factors stemming from the Civil War are the weapons that were
developed. Before the Civil War, the weapons used were highly unreliable, and were not advanced
enough to provide the needed defense for a young nation such as our own. Innovative minds created
many interesting ways to demolish their enemies without ever having to fire a shot or go into full
combat through different types of bombs that were in disguise. Among the advancements in the Civil
War were the torpedo, the carbine rifle, the minie` ball, several models of rifle muskets, rocket
launchers, rocket bombs, Greek Fire, and a wide array of other secret weapons.

A few years of development and a patent later, the minie` ball was ready for combat. In the 1850 s,
James H. Burton, a master of arms, made a few alterations such as slightly lengthening the bullet and
thinning the walls of the hollow base. These alterations made the minie` ball much easier and cheaper
to mass produce; this is what was used by the blue and gray s out on the battlefields.
The Union soldiers were more likely to carry the U.S. Model 1861 Springfield Rifle Musket than any
other weapon. These guns were not the easiest or most convenient weapons even if they were the most
common. The Model 1861 was a .58 caliber gun, was 58.5 inches long, and weighed in at a heavy
9.25 pounds. This rifle was nicknamed The Widow Maker. This nickname was made with great thanks
to the minie` bullet which was an integral part of this rifle musket. The combination of the rifle
musket and the minie` bullet forever changed the face of warfare; thus because for the first time ever,

Mealworms Lab Report
Zophobas morio Preference between a vanilla or coffee abstract
Tylar Lauby
Tuesdays at 6pm
23 September 2014
Abstract Zophobas morio, also known as mealworms, is the larva of the beetles called tenebrionid
beetles. These beetles have a tendency of mainly eating grass and sticks, and they also tend to burrow.
This lab study is to find out if the Z. morio prefer the smell of coffee abstract or the sweet vanilla
abstract. The way we did this study was by taking a habitat with oats in it and see what side the
mealworms would prefer (the coffee side or the vanilla side). My conclusion of what side the
mealworms preferred is the vanilla abstract over the coffee. This might have been so because they
may have liked the sweeter smell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mealworms seemed to have preferred the side with vanilla more than coffee. In the scientific
method you have several steps that take place. These steps include observe, develop questions, test,
collect information, analyze the findings, form conclusions, share results, and finally conduct more
research (Schiff, 2015). We have done all of these besides conduct more research. More research
needs to be done in order to find out more accurately if these test findings are accurate. I question my
findings because the abstracts are both human creations making me wonder why they would go to
either or if they had the diet that they do. After finding information about the mealworms I would have
changed my hypothesis to them wanting to go over to the coffee abstract more. This is because it s
more of a natural food and it isn t has sweet smelling as that of vanilla abstract. The test results
surprised me when after the first test. This is because I figured the mealworms would go to vanilla
because of the sweeter smell. But surprisingly they went to the coffee side more. The second and third
test the mealworms went more of where I originally thought. I figured that all three of the test would
be more like the last test was like. Mealworms can be a pest in a house. They can get into your flour,
corn meal, or any other type of house grains (Arizona, 1997). This is why some students did their

12 Angry Men Analysis
The movie, 12 Angry Men, encourages the audience to fully develop their own ideas and find a logical
reason behind something before jumping to conclusions. The 12 jurors participate in a group
discussion over the trial of a young man charged with murdering his father. At many points, this
discussion becomes hostile and provokes feelings of disdain and frustration among the jurors. Mr.
Davis, Juror Eight, displays his core beliefs of open mindedness, work ethic, and ability to think
logically to create reasonable doubt in the minds of the other jurors.
Mr. Davis, in the movie, maintains an open mind and pulls on the other jurors to have an open mind as
well because the boy may die (Rose, 12 Angry Men). Having an open mind is important in the movie
because the facts and evidence can be interpreted in many ways and it is always good to see
something from a different angle. While Davis remains open to the ideas of other, Juror Three and
Four, throughout the movie, argue that the boy is guilty only on two pieces of evidence without
looking at the rest of the evidence or from a different angle. This idea of looking at the evidence they
believe is likely support those beliefs (University Of Pennsylvania, Authentic Happiness) is named
selective exposure and for good reason. Juror Three and Four provoke distain among the rest of the
jurors through this selective exposure. Open mindedness has been touted by philosophers of education
as a vital characteristic of the educated mind (Taylor, Openmindedness) and is crucial to being able to
fully conclude whether or not the boy is guilty in the trial. A required skill for living a full life and
properly understanding certain topics is being open minded. Mr. Davis exemplifies an understanding
for this concept and applies it to the trial that could result in the boy being executed.
Work ethic is required to get something done and Mr. Davis exemplifies a strong work ethic in order
to convince the rest of the jurors that there is reasonable doubt (Rose, 12 Angry Men). There are
multiple times throughout the movie that Mr. Davis and Juror Nine discuss how it is only one night (
Rose, 12 Angry Men) and that they will do whatever it takes ( Rose, 12 Angry Men) to make the

Fate In Romeo And Juliet
Fate is the most influential factor in the play of Romeo and Juliet because it was responsible for the
couple s heartbreaking tragedy. By fate, the pair meet each other while the stars are crossed, cursing
them with a dreadful fortune. Because of fate, the two young lovers meet each other in the first place
and for that moment, Romeo and Juliet these unaware star crossed lovers are bound to death. In
Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, the impression that Romeo and Juliet s death is brought about by
cruel overwhelming fate is true, because it is not a coincidence that Romeo meets Juliet at the Capulet

inaccurate information by saying about Juliet s that her body sleeps in Capel s monument, and her

Romeo about Juliet s death, it is more likely that fate had a greater influence in the communication
about Juliet s false death. By fate, Balthasar comes to Romeo and tells him what he has witness. Friar
Lawrence s plan is also ruined because Friar John is unable to deliver the critical message to Romeo.
He tells that Friar that [he] could not send it (here it is again), nor get a messenger to bring it thee, so
fearful were they of infection . Because Friar Lawrence s message plans an important part to the plan
he creates, the fact that it is never sent proves to be a deadly factor in the play. Romeo, not knowing
that Juliet is not really dead, he decides that he can not live without her because he is rash, which leads
him to his impending death. The fate put in Friar Lawrence s plan leaves Romeo with a desire to die
since he never received the correct news, which destines both him and Juliet to their

Research Paper On Thermodynamics
Chemical thermodynamics is the investigation of the exchange of heat and work with chemical
reactions or with physical changes of state inside the bounds of the laws of thermodynamics. It
involves not only laboratory measurements of different thermodynamic properties, but also the
utilization of mathematical strategies to the investigation of chemical questions and the spontaneity of
processes. The structure of chemical thermodynamics depends on the initial two laws of
thermodynamics.
Beginning from the first and second laws of thermodynamics major conditions of Gibbs can be
determined which thus can be used to anticipate the thermodynamic properties of the systems using
relatively simple mathematics. In the beginning of 20th century, two noteworthy publications, (i)
Thermodynamics and the Free Energy of Chemical substances by Gilbert N. Lewis and Merle Randall
and (ii) Modern Thermodynamics by the methods of Willard Gibbs written by E. A. Guggenheim
effectively applied the principles developed by Gibbs to chemical processes, and thus established the
exploration of the science of chemical thermodynamics. The essential goal of chemical
thermodynamics is the establishment of a paradigm for the assurance of the feasibility or spontaneity

Persuasive Essay On Snow Removal
The gift that my group performed for the community of Juneau, Alaska is snow removal. The group
consisted of my two most trustworthy peers Marcos Yadao and Mitchell Laudert. We all understood
that living in a small tight knit town such as Juneau; the smallest of tasks can have the biggest
impacts. That is when the light bulb in our intellectual brains and the idea of snow removal came to
mind. It was an appropriate job for the winter season. With heavy snow flurries in the forecast, this
would be an achievable accomplishment. With the service in mind our next step was to pick a
location. We did not want to select the wealthy neighborhoods because the residents there would
probably be financially able to pay for such services. The location that we settled on was not a poverty
stricken area, but the homes consisted of elderly residence. To avoid complications with the occupants
of the home and explain our reasoning for the free service we wanted to only do homes were the
residence weren t present. That did not hold up to a standard when we actually got around to carry out
the service. The whole point of going out and helping people of Juneau with their snow blanketed
driveways, walkways, and porches too was to gain self respect and also to prove to the world that
good can come from anything and anywhere too.
The reason that I believe that volunteer work and work in general is vital to success in the today s

American Dance 1960’s-1990’s
Culture revolves around dance through movement, each telling their own unique stories. Dance is the
center piece for many societys. Dance is defined as an art performed by individuals or groups of
human beings, existing in time, space, force, and flow, in which the human body is the instrument, and
movement is the medium (Krause, 24)1. As many cultures differ from one another dance is one way
universally they are able to communicate. Through their bodies they are able to speak to one another.
Dance has been around a very long time. When you typically think of America you wouldn t normally
think of dance. You tend to think more Industrial revolution and technology, but if you look back

One of the biggest dance crazes of the 80 s was break dancing. It was just moving your body no rhyme
or rhythm. You usually had to be physically fit because of all of the movements required tremendous
amounts of strength to be able to hold yourself up. This only lasted for some time, then once again
peoples interests starting shifting and new fads were emerging.
The 1990 s became the time of quick fads and a lot of different styles. If people were going to a party
they didn t just have one option clothes wise to wear. They could dress bright, casual, or even dress
like Run DMC with the pants way too big for them and a baggy shirt. All of these styles were in. MC
Hammer was a big name hip hop star in the 90 s with one of his biggest hits called U can t touch this .
This was a very popular song and millions of copies were being sold by the day. The hammer time
dance was a dance that stuck out in the 90 s. It was an upbeat hip hop dance, just moving to the music.
Hip hop was starting and people quickly picked up on the catchy up beat tempo. Hip hop has been has
never really died out and is still going today.
Looking back throughout American history our culture is never satisfied with what they have. It s just
the American culture way of life. Our culture changes so much as you can tell through the last 40
years of dance alone. I m an American but I would consider myself an outsider to all of this. I have
heard about all of

  • 2. Intercultural Identity An individual s culture, upbringing, privileges, orientation etc. all affect how one views the world. In order to confront difficult issues, such as social justice, one must realize how their positionality effects their epistemologies. Takacs (2002) states that when we develop the skill of understanding how we know what we know, we acquire a key to lifelong learning (p. 28). Being able to discern why we view the world in a certain way leads to truths about one s own identity, such as their privileges in society. However, these identities are not always apparent. Tatum (2000) states that it is our targeted identities that hold our attention, while the dominant identities go unexamined (p. 7). In order to develop a holistic sense of self, we must examine all parts of our being. As my interviewer remarked: you have to know who you are, and how you show up in pieces, and the impact that may give to others, because that definitely contributes (A. Rubango, personal communication, September 13, 2017). Every person has their own multitude of identities. My interviewer s own identity contains numerous components as a female, an immigrant from the Congo, and having a middle class SES. Through her many target and dominant identities, she has acknowledged how these pieces have given her a unique viewpoint on the world, and how they have affected her view on issues, such as those pertaining to social justice. Exploring one s identity is crucial, but it is vital on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Of Humanity In The Novel And Quentin Tarantino s Pulp... Textual form has changed throughout time to reflect different ideals, values and notions of human ontology in a world seemingly void of meaning. Throughout the 20th centaury, post modern artists have disrupted traditional paradigms of thinking that have governed our lives and forged out perceptions of selfhood and linear time. Emerging from the horror of world war II as well as the emptiness that accompanied it, composers were forced to contemplate upon the very meaning of human existence. And although composers since this time have varied with context, perspective and purpose, the continued struggle to reason for humanities existence remains as an undercurrent in all texts. This search for meaning, which has been explored by several composers, has manifested into, and is representative of the directionless state of humanity, and struggle in identifying our own identities. Thus, texts of the postmodern era expose and question the unstable ontological grounds that humanity is founded upon. Jean Luc Godard French New Wave Film, A Bout De Souffle (1960) questions whether our existence is validated by self, or recognition from others. Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse 5 (1972) uses a non linear plot to communicate how we are forever incarnated in the human figure to learn and to grow. Conversely, Quentin Tarantino s Pulp Fiction (1994) represents the interconnectedness and solidarity humanity, while Barry Jenkin s film, Moonlight (2016) raises existential questions about the ... I m sure we can all relate to the moment when you first meet a new born, infant or even toddler and all you can say is Awh how cute he or she is , and how much you just want to pinch those chubby cheeks or tickle those little toes. II. Whether you ve had a child of our own, have a younger sibling, or even may have never been around young children before, we all have our own experiences and unique ways of interacting with them. III. These little cute bundles of joy, or maybe occasionally not so joyful at times have much more than just cute looks. From birth to five years of age they are actually going through a critical period of development that is a complex and vital to their growth for years to come. IV. Ever since I was a young girl I have always had a great interest in learning about the development of infants and toddlers. Now, as I enter my senior year in the Family and Child Sciences Department at Florida State University, I have gained great one on one personal experience working with children ranging from zero to ten years old. As we all might know the obvious physical developmental signs an infant goes through known as growth. What many may not know is the stages a child moves through known as, child developmental stages or milestones. This includes how the child becomes able to do more complex things as they get older. Despite the moral panic of outside citizens, one in five people living in Rio de Janeiro identify themselves as favelados , leading them to fight for what they consider to be normal life within the favelas (Favela on Blast, 2008). • 13. Social Psychologist Philip Zimbardo s Prison Experiment... When we see people doing bad things we assume it is because they are bad people. Social Psychologist Philip Zimbardo would argue that this isn t true. In April 2004 disturbing and graphic pictures surfaced, showing American soldiers mentally and physically abusing Iraqi prisoners held at the Abu Ghraib prison located in Bagdad. Looking at the photos that was surfaced, it looks strikingly familiar to those in the Stanford prison experiment that was done many years ago. The prisoners had bags over their heads and were subjected to all kinds of sexual and inhumane humiliation. The military went on the defence saying those officers were a few bad apples. To understand why the military soldiers at the Abu Grahib prison abused the Iraqi prisoners, we need to look back at the lessons of Philip Zimbardo s prison experiment and Stanley Milgram s Obedience to Authority experiment. The results of these experiments showed that there are a set of social psychological factors that can make ordinary people do things they could have never imagined doing. It shows how people respond when placed in cruel environments without clear rules, do bad things. I will look at Zimbardo s case of Good apples in bad barrels. And I will try to understand what lead to the abuses that occurred within the walls of Abu Ghraib. Philip Zimbardo made it evident that in his analysis it was the military command and the Bush Administration that created the evil system that created the bad barrel that ... To speak about the experiences of all these different people using the same ideas and examples would be quite inaccurate. I still remember the day we left and how hard it was for my whole family. Through tears, I said goodbye to all my relatives and friends whom I cherished and loved. I felt as if the whole world was closing up in me. I was being taken away from everything I knew and everything I loved. The cool breeze of that autumn day rushed through me as if foreshadowing a hard and cold future. The moment came for us to get on the plane. The film illustrates subjectivity, an askew world and expression through its sets, costumes, shots, editing, and acting. Film theorist Mungsterberg s main idea is that the film overcomes reality through manipulation and transformation of space, time, and causality. In addition, Mungsterberg emphasizes that the form of the film should match the content to create unity. Similarly, theorist Balazs main point is how close up s help transform reality in relation to quality and expression. Caligari would be that the film transforms reality due to the amount of close up s used to evoke emotion, mood, intentions, and thoughts. Balazs states that The close ups of the film are the creative instruments of this might visual anthropomorphism (Balazs 119). Balazs basically explains how the close up gives the viewer a new perspective of reality through the close up. Plus, the close up shows us things we cannot see like: human characteristics, behaviors and objects in detail to demonstrate power and emotion. For example, in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari when Cesare tells Alan that he is only going to live until dawn there is a close up of Alan s face showing extreme terror. This creates an emphasis on human emotions and behaviors which helps the viewer relate and possibly identify with the character. Also the close up in this example helps the audience understand the dramatic scene that is unfolding through the expression of the character. This lead to the war of England against the Spanish Armada in 1588. Therefore, the English Queen, Elizabeth Tudor, composed the widely acclaimed speech directed at the troops at Tilbury, augmenting the feelings of patriotism in the soldier s hearts, creating a passionate fervor for their country before this alarming battle. Additionally, to empathetically motivate the troops to defend England from invaders, Queen Elizabeth I operate declarative syntax, diverse figurative language, and positive diction. Initially, Queen Elizabeth I s declarative syntax makes her seem less imposing, regardless of her title, and more sympathetic. For instance, instead of pressuring the people to follow her will, such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did when saying, Whenever racial discrimination exists it is a tragic expression of man s spiritual degeneracy and moral bankruptcy. Therefore, it must be removed not merely because it is diplomatically expedient, but because it is morally compelling , the Queen uses declarative sentences that just persuade people to do what she wants, defend the country. • 21. A Brief History Of United States Mental Health Care Essay PRELIMINARY LITERATURE REVIEW A brief history of the United States mental health care The United States has never had an official federal centered approach for mental health care facilities, entrusting its responsibility to the states throughout the history. The earliest initiatives in this field took place in the 18th century, when Virginia built its first asylum and Pennsylvania Hospital reserved its basement to house individuals with mental disorders (Sundararaman, 2009). During the 19th century, other services were built, but their overall lack of quality was alarming. Even then, researchers and professionals in the mental health field attempted to implement the principles of the so called public health, focusing on prevention and early intervention, but the funds were in the hands of the local governments, which prevented significant advances in this direction. In 1946, President Truman signed the National Mental Health Act, allowing federal funds for education and research in mental health. By the time of the Great Depression and the World War II, asylums were in unsustainable conditions and traumatized veterans were returning home needing psychiatric attention. Also in a federal extent, Congress passed the Mental Health Study Act in 1955, establishing a commission to check policies and propose reforms in psychiatric treatments. Around that time the deinstitutionalization movement started changing the mental health picture. In 1963, the Mental Health Community Act ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We have done all of these besides conduct more research. More research needs to be done in order to find out more accurately if these test findings are accurate. I question my findings because the abstracts are both human creations making me wonder why they would go to either or if they had the diet that they do. After finding information about the mealworms I would have changed my hypothesis to them wanting to go over to the coffee abstract more. This is because it s more of a natural food and it isn t has sweet smelling as that of vanilla abstract. The test results surprised me when after the first test. This is because I figured the mealworms would go to vanilla because of the sweeter smell. But surprisingly they went to the coffee side more. The second and third test the mealworms went more of where I originally thought. I figured that all three of the test would be more like the last test was like. Mealworms can be a pest in a house. This is why some students did their testing on some other surfaces so we could see that they can survive in more than just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. 12 Angry Men Analysis The movie, 12 Angry Men, encourages the audience to fully develop their own ideas and find a logical reason behind something before jumping to conclusions. The 12 jurors participate in a group discussion over the trial of a young man charged with murdering his father. At many points, this discussion becomes hostile and provokes feelings of disdain and frustration among the jurors. Mr. Davis, Juror Eight, displays his core beliefs of open mindedness, work ethic, and ability to think logically to create reasonable doubt in the minds of the other jurors. Mr. Davis, in the movie, maintains an open mind and pulls on the other jurors to have an open mind as well because the boy may die (Rose, 12 Angry Men). Having an open mind is important in the movie because the facts and evidence can be interpreted in many ways and it is always good to see something from a different angle. While Davis remains open to the ideas of other, Juror Three and Four, throughout the movie, argue that the boy is guilty only on two pieces of evidence without looking at the rest of the evidence or from a different angle. This idea of looking at the evidence they believe is likely support those beliefs (University Of Pennsylvania, Authentic Happiness) is named selective exposure and for good reason. Juror Three and Four provoke distain among the rest of the jurors through this selective exposure. Open mindedness has been touted by philosophers of education as a vital characteristic of the educated mind (Taylor, Openmindedness) and is crucial to being able to fully conclude whether or not the boy is guilty in the trial. A required skill for living a full life and properly understanding certain topics is being open minded. Mr. Davis exemplifies an understanding for this concept and applies it to the trial that could result in the boy being executed. Work ethic is required to get something done and Mr. Davis exemplifies a strong work ethic in order to convince the rest of the jurors that there is reasonable doubt (Rose, 12 Angry Men). There are multiple times throughout the movie that Mr. Davis and Juror Nine discuss how it is only one night ( Rose, 12 Angry Men) and that they will do whatever it takes ( Rose, 12 Angry Men) to make the ... • 34. Fate In Romeo And Juliet Fate is the most influential factor in the play of Romeo and Juliet because it was responsible for the couple s heartbreaking tragedy. By fate, the pair meet each other while the stars are crossed, cursing them with a dreadful fortune. Because of fate, the two young lovers meet each other in the first place and for that moment, Romeo and Juliet these unaware star crossed lovers are bound to death. In Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, the impression that Romeo and Juliet s death is brought about by cruel overwhelming fate is true, because it is not a coincidence that Romeo meets Juliet at the Capulet party, the pair of star crossed lovers are the offspring of sworn enemies, and Friar Lawrence s plan was bound to fail. By fate, Balthasar comes to Romeo and tells him what he has witness. Friar Lawrence s plan is also ruined because Friar John is unable to deliver the critical message to Romeo. He tells that Friar that [he] could not send it (here it is again), nor get a messenger to bring it thee, so fearful were they of infection . Because Friar Lawrence s message plans an important part to the plan he creates, the fact that it is never sent proves to be a deadly factor in the play. Romeo, not knowing that Juliet is not really dead, he decides that he can not live without her because he is rash, which leads him to his impending death. • 37. Research Paper On Thermodynamics Chemical thermodynamics is the investigation of the exchange of heat and work with chemical reactions or with physical changes of state inside the bounds of the laws of thermodynamics. It involves not only laboratory measurements of different thermodynamic properties, but also the utilization of mathematical strategies to the investigation of chemical questions and the spontaneity of processes. The structure of chemical thermodynamics depends on the initial two laws of thermodynamics. Beginning from the first and second laws of thermodynamics major conditions of Gibbs can be determined which thus can be used to anticipate the thermodynamic properties of the systems using relatively simple mathematics. In the beginning of 20th century, two noteworthy publications, (i) Thermodynamics and the Free Energy of Chemical substances by Gilbert N. Lewis and Merle Randall and (ii) Modern Thermodynamics by the methods of Willard Gibbs written by E. A. Guggenheim effectively applied the principles developed by Gibbs to chemical processes, and thus established the exploration of the science of chemical thermodynamics. The essential goal of chemical thermodynamics is the establishment of a paradigm for the assurance of the feasibility or spontaneity of a given transformation. ... • 38. Persuasive Essay On Snow Removal The gift that my group performed for the community of Juneau, Alaska is snow removal. The group consisted of my two most trustworthy peers Marcos Yadao and Mitchell Laudert. We all understood that living in a small tight knit town such as Juneau; the smallest of tasks can have the biggest impacts. That is when the light bulb in our intellectual brains and the idea of snow removal came to mind. It was an appropriate job for the winter season. With heavy snow flurries in the forecast, this would be an achievable accomplishment. With the service in mind our next step was to pick a location. We did not want to select the wealthy neighborhoods because the residents there would probably be financially able to pay for such services. The location that we settled on was not a poverty stricken area, but the homes consisted of elderly residence. To avoid complications with the occupants of the home and explain our reasoning for the free service we wanted to only do homes were the residence weren t present. That did not hold up to a standard when we actually got around to carry out the service. The whole point of going out and helping people of Juneau with their snow blanketed driveways, walkways, and porches too was to gain self respect and also to prove to the world that good can come from anything and anywhere too. The reason that I believe that volunteer work and work in general is vital to success in the today s world and society is because the generation that I am apart of is lack of a better term lazy. The motto of the entitled generation is procrastination is key. The most important part in forming a generation comes from the parents. The outcome of a generation s attitude always leads back to the source (the parents). Volunteer work in present time is very important for the youth, but is equally as important for adults too. Some local organizations in Juneau are Love Incorporation, Helping Hands Healing Hands LLC, Saint Vincent De Paul, and Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC).
