What is cardiac
pacemaker?
 Cardiac pacemaker is a medical device which
provide support to the pace generating system
of heart incase of inadequate functioning of
  heart pace generating system.
Why we need it?
WHENEVER SA
NODE,AV NODE
ARE NOT ABLE

THAT
CONDITION WE

 Purkinje fibers
Components of
pacemaker
 Electrodes
 Power source
Pulse generator
 Timing control
 Output driver

Types of cardiac
pacemaker?
 Internal pacemaker
 External pacemaker
Internal
pacemaker
PACE MAKER WHICH
NEED TO BE
IMPLANTED FOR
LONG TIME AND
PATIENT IS SUFFERING
FROM A CHRONIC
PPACE GANERATION
PROBLEM.
External
pacemaker
IT IS APPLY ON
PATIENT FOR
SHORT
DURATION
EXTERNALLY
Implantable
pacemaker
 Fixed rate pacemaker
 Demand pacemaker
 R wave triggered pacemaker
 Ventricular inhibited pacemaker
 Atrial triggered pacemaker
How to use external
pacemaker
1.Pace maker electrodes is placed on the chest at
  appropriate position.
  2. Electrode jelly is used for better contact and avoiding
  burning on skin
3.Set pacing mode as per requirement of the patient
  4.Set pacing rate ( in PPM )
  5.Turn ON the pacemaker.
COMPLICATIONS?
PACE MAKER SYNDROM
EMBOLISM
INTERNAL BLEEDING
