Pioneering Psychologist Stanley Milgram once said, Ordinary people, simply doing their jobs, and
without any particular hostility on their part, can become agents in a terrible destructive process.
Obedience is like a narcotic; under its influence, even a strong willed person can do horrible things
to others without a second thought. The only way a member of society submitting to powerful
authority can escape being obedient is to live completely isolated. Subjects usually follow the

Materialism In The Victorian Era
In the Victorian era, entertainment was very different, having hobbies, acquired skills equally
important to them were group activities such as sГ©ances, a quiet, peaceful environment an
excellent condition for mediums to thrive also develop physical phenomenon. Unlike today s hectic
lifestyles and materialism, coupled with modern day distractions such as antisocial mobile phones,
people look for different avenues to rest furthermore relax wanting out of the rat race, a world away
