Introduce myself:Dan GreenLinkedIn 3 yearsgraduated BU in 93 Philosophy degree. This is what we call at LinkedIn my “Top Card”Top portion of everyone’s LinkedIn profile.Looks like a ‘Digital Business Card’.Travels around LinkedIn when I engage on LinkedIn or people find me.It’s the Core of the profile.Name, Tagline, Locations, Industry, Current Company, Past Companies, ……… SCHOOL! Coincidence? No, it’s one of the top professional networking question.I also have other schools listed in case I have other former classmates look me up. ASL is a school I went to and it was the reason I got into BU. My grades fell because I moved in the 4thqtr of 9th grade. The reason why I got into Basic Studies. My story…. Leads to LinkedIn from Advent colleagues.
The theory is that there’s a big gap between 30 and under and 30 and over.30 and under still have strong college connections.Over time, 30 and over lose touch with college connections. LinkedIn is only 8 yrs old so most 30+ don’t have strong BU connections. Our goal is to bridge this gap. 30+ need to connect with BU grads to rebuild. 30 and under need to get more connections outside of their BU connections.
Sometimes we mistake fads for progress. Online social networking is an extension of the evolution of communications. Scaled conversations and networks.
