Eat At My Restaurant Cash Flow Review
Eat at My Restaurant Cash Flow Review
Remaining profitable in the restaurant industry is a requirement conceivably not considered as
difficult for common chains like Taco Bell, Panera and Starbucks. Many factors impact the
sustainability of cash flow for the restaurant industry when looking at changes in market trends for a
product, menu pricing, and inventory management. Consistent to each of the parent companies for
these restaurants however, is the need to ensure adequate and positive cash flow to satisfy the
corporation s stakeholders. An evaluation of these three parent companies to identify potential cash
flow problems will consider each firm s long term profitability, offer observations on cash flows and
potential risk from the potential investor s perspective.
Long term Profitability
Where long term profitability for an investor is the basis for the choice of where to invest, one should
differentiate difference between net cash from operating activities and net income. Net cash from
operating activities represents cash generated from the primary business function (Gibson, 2013), in
this case food service. It is essentially a line item in the overarching net income of the company which
demonstrates the company s profitability.
With these two values, an investor can differentiate the effect of increasing, declining or stagnant sales
from the overarching reported net income value of the organization. The best indicator of long term
profitability will be net

The Palestinian-Israeli Conflict in the Middle East Essay
The Palestinian Israeli Conflict in the Middle East
The Arab world is not in a compromising mood... Nations never concede; they fight. You won t get
anything by peaceful means or compromise. You can, perhaps get something, but only by the force of
your arms...But it s too late to talk of peaceful solutions (Bard 1). The Arab League Secretary Azzam
Pasha said this statement on September 16, 1947, eight months before the state of Israel was
established. The Arabs held this mentality in a time when Israel was not yet a fact. This trait was
hereditary in the sense that it was taught to their children, who taught it to their children, and so on.
Those are the people who are living in Arab countries, and still despise everything about Israel ...

Even though a cease fire was in effect, the war continued as Arabs closed the Suez Canal to Israel
shipping and Israel (in retaliation) did not allow the 700,000 Arab refugees return to their homes
(Regan 22).
The problem was that no Arab State wanted those refugees so camps were set up in Gaza Strip, which
was controlled by Egypt, and the West Bank, which was controlled by Jordan (23). This inability to
find a home land for the people now called Palestinians would lead to many of Israel s conflicts with
the Arab world. The Arabs did not want their Palestinian brothers in their countries but, for some
reason, Israel, the Jewish State, was supposed to take them in even though it had the best reason not
to. Was Israel, which had just won the war, now supposed to take back their enemies? Of course not.
From 1949 to 1956, there was no peace in Israel, because Egypt continued attacking Israel from one
side while Syria continued attacking from the other. In 1953, in order to try to stop the violence, Israel
passed the Land Acquisition Law, offering payment for property taken from Arab citizens of Israel
who lived there between May 4, 1949 and April 1, 1952 (Silverman 54). However that did not appear
to stop the terror in the region or make peace with its neighbors. On October 14, 1956 Egyptian
President Nasser said, [o]ur hatred is very strong. There is no sense in talking about peace with Israel.
There is not the smallest place for negotiations

Conflict In The Workplace Essay
Conflict at any time is inevitable in the workplace setting; Working on a military
Installation as a dental clinic manager they also can have problems with conflict. Conflict can arise
between co workers, supervisors and subordinates and or between employees and customers, suppliers
and regulatory agencies. How, you as the manager handle conflict with your spouse can be completely
different than how you handle conflict with a co worker especially in a manager s perspective.
Managing conflict is a key in management proficiency that all managers should study.
Practicing effective conflict management skills will help to maintain a positive workplace
environment for employers and employees.
As a manager one must acknowledge that they control how a department will function, working in a
dental clinic a department manager s position is crucial for an organization because they are the
reference that serves the entire operation. This leader has to believe in the foundation of the company
by acting accordingly into their role. A manager wears many hats and needs to know what role they
must play in order to be successful. An organization should recognize that at times conflict can arise in
the workplace and a systematic process should be followed. There are various types of conflict and
guidelines to effectively resolve conflict to which they are addressed. Conflict management is the
process of preparing to avoid conflict and organizing to resolve conflict where it does happen,

Asymmetry In Crabs
On the other hand, symmetry is an ancestral trait and that asymmetry is believed to be a secondary
characteristic developed by an animal organism as a response to stressors in its environment
(McLaughlin, et al., 2004). Symmetry and asymmetry is usually measured among bilateral characters
in an organism such as the bilateral segments in a decapod pereiopods. The decapod crab Ranina
ranina have several bilateral characters such as the spines on its carapace and the segments comprising
its pereiopods. Asymmetry in crabs has been a subject of interest among evolutionary biologist as it
gives the idea as to how a certain character evolve in shape in order to accommodate genetic and
environmental perturbations resulting to the formation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Asymmetry in decapods has been a focus of an on and off interest as observed by Oppenheimer
(1974) in McLaughlin, et al.,(2004) among carcinologist as decapod asymmetry has been a focus of
importance for nearly a century (Przibram 1905; Emmel 1908), then interest plummeted and risen
again. Asymmetry in abdomen shape between male and female crab have been observed among
Ranina ranina as early as the instar 1 larval stage (Minagawa, 1993) rendering this character to be
sexually dimorphic among these crabs. Posteriorly attached to the carapace, these structure provides
adherence for eggs for ovigerous females. What makes the R. ranina abdomen unique among crab
species is it attachment to the carapace. While in most crabs, abdomen are folded towards the ventral
aspect of the crab, in R. ranina, it is partially extended away from the ventral aspect that it looks like a
tail instead of as an abdomen. The abdomen also participates in the digging activity of the crab
(Faulks, 2006). Asymmetry in pleopods was observed among paguroids as an offshoot of the type of
shells they are inhabiting. Asymmetry in shapes are often associated with the frequent use of a
particular character such as handedness or constant use (McLaughlin, et

Efficient Delivery Of Cancer
The efficient delivery of drugs and energy to tumors faces several difficulties and obstacles that need
to be overcome for effective cancer treatment. Nanoparticles administrated through intravenous
injections accumulate at a tumor site due to the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect, but
only a small quantity of the injected particles can actually reach the tumor (Su et al, 2016). The
majority of the nanoparticles interact with cancer cells at the periphery of a tumor which presents a
physiological barrier that prevents most of the injected particles from reaching the tumor (Su et al,
2016). In addition to this barrier, there is also another significant obstacle, cancer associated
fibroblasts , which can also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This conglomerate composed of protein lipid, sponge like carbon, and reduced graphene oxide (rGO)
was administrated by the researchers to mice in order to study the material s ability to transport the
hydrophobic drug docetaxel (DTX) and perfluorohexane (PFH) for deep tumor penetration and
therapy (Su et al, 2016). The Lf lipo GNS composite is capable of carrying large amounts of drugs in
its pores which can be released through the absorption of light by the GNS. By applying near infrared
(NIR) irradiation, the gasification of PFH occurs due to an increase in local temperature in the
graphene nanosponge which as a result damages and ruptures tumor spheroids (Su et al, 2016).
Consequently, the combined effects of gasification and chemo and thermotherapy can substantially
reduce tumors and even completely eliminate them without future reappearance. The researchers
conducted a study on in vitro photolytic therapy on RG2 tumor spheroids incubated with the control
group (PBS only), Lf lipo US GNS/DTX, Lf lipo US GNS/DTX+NIR, and Lflipo US GNS/DTX
PFH+NIR (Su et al, 2016). Due to its tumor penetration ability, the researchers used 10 μg/mL of 40
nm Lf lipo US GNS to conduct the study. After the composite was administrated to the tumors, they
were allowed to incubate for 4 h followed by NIR irradiation with a power density of 2 W cm 2 for 10

Abstract: Effect of various concentrations of NSAIDs (Non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs) on
growth of commercial probiotic preparations (A, B, C, and D) were observed by agar well diffusion
assay. Zone of inhibition was recorded after 24 h and found that different samples of probiotics
showed more or less susceptibility to different doses of NSAIDs. This indicates that NSAIDs beside
anti inflammatory response may give antibiotic effect as well.
Keywords: NSAIDs, antibiotic, probiotics.
1. Introduction:
According to the definition by WHO and FAO, probiotics are live microorganisms which when
administered in adequate amounts confers a health benefit on the host. Probiotics are available to
consumers mainly in the form of foods and as dietary supplements.
NSAIDs have analgesic, antipyretic effects and also have anti inflammatory effects in higher doses.
Use of NSAID is associated with increased risk of gastrointestinal and cardiovascular effects mainly
due to the inhibition of prostanoid biosynthesis. NSAIDs have many applications in pharmacokinetics
and medicinal.
This review aims to examine antimicrobial property of NSAIDs (ibuprofen, aspirin, and diclofenac).

The colonists perception of the role of the British monarchy drastically changed through the 1700s and
the 1800s. The Independent Reflector a passage from a magazine provides insight on the perceptions
that the colonist in 1752 had. Thomas Paine s Common Sense also gives insight of how the colonist
perception had changed from previous years. The Independent Reflector was founded in 1752 and
written by Edward Livingston. The passage compares the differences between national prosperity and
the personal happiness of the citizens of a free state . A free state is a limited monarchy in which
freedom of speech and religion is protected. Most colonists believed that they were a part of the freest

The Pros And Cons Of Inequality
Equality and justice are core values in modern democracies. Yet, we curiously accept massive levels
of inequality. In fact, there are numerous reasons why countries accept or even promote economic
inequality. In this paper, I will argue that everyone has a right to benefit from their own labour. And, it
follows from this right that governments should act against inequality only to raise the neediest above
a level of subsistence.
In Canada, the richest 20% own over 70% of total wealth while the bottom 20% own less than 1%.
This has important implications according to many experts, including epidemiologist Richard
Wilkinson. His research reveals a strong connection between inequality and social problems such as
mental illness, drug addiction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This argument has two sides to it. Firstly, that inequality causes major social problems. But correlation
does not always imply causation. The best performing countries on Wilkinson s index of health and
social problems, while relatively equal, all are measured as the happiest countries in the world with
strong community spirit. Inequality and social problems are likely to be symptoms rather than causes
of countries lacking this cooperative attitude. The second side to the argument is that inequality is
itself unjust. However, few philosophers would claim justice or fairness relates only to equality. There
must also be an element of need or merit. Some people are simply more deserving. Ability or
willingness to work hard contributes to this merit. Additionally, not everyone requires the same
resources to achieve the same standard of living. For instance, housing and transportation is likely
costlier for someone living in Toronto compared to suburban Ontario. In this sense, justice may not
only tolerate, but require

Explain how to maintain records that are up to date, complete accurate and legible
Information that needs to be recorded should always be written in a legible manner.
Legible means clear, readable and understandable. It could be harmful to an individual if other people
cannot read what you have written, for example in a care plan about the way the individual is feeling.
Records must always be factual and not an opinion. They should include the correct date and a full
signature of the person writing the record. It is also recommended to use black ink. Some documents
will only accept black ink. Information must not be crossed out, or covered using correction fluid.
Always record any information given to you by an individual even if you think it is trivial because it
might help someone else. Always check an individual s care and support plan before working with
them as there may have been changes since you last worked with the individual, even if it was only a
short time ago.
Describe practices that ensure security when storing and accessing information.

Analysis Of The Closing Of A Facility Essay
Background Martin, Bartol and Kehoe (2000) relay that the rapidly changing business environment,
which includes reorganization, acquisitions and mergers between companies, has been the impetus for
many layoffs of employees due to downsizing, which in turn can cause legal issues for the company if
not handled appropriately. The recent merger between Davis Manufacturing and Bartlund
Technologies present such a scenario when the necessity for more efficient operations calls for the
closing of a facility in San Jose, CA along with the reduction of that facilities staff by 20%, before
relocating the rest. Karen Howell, the division manager, will work with the area managers to
determine the employees designated to be dismissed using performance appraisals as the basis for
terminations. When ascertaining the employees to be terminated, the dismissal criteria must be clear,
consistent and fair in order to avoid legal consequences (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). These
authors espouse the most frequently used criteria is either seniority or employee performance, or a
combination of both, with each method having advantages and disadvantages. Disadvantages relayed
for using seniority is the loss of superior performers and protected class members. For this reason,
Gomez Mejia et al. (2016) believe performance appraisals are the most proficient method to retain the
best employees, but they also pose greater legal risks if not properly documented. What should Howell

Midsummer Night s Dream Supernatural
The rule of law, supernatural, and commoners in a chaos.
A Midsummer Night s Dream is a comedy play unfolding in three juxtaposed settings. It shows the
events related to the marriage of the Duke of Athens, Theseus and Hyppolita including adventures of
four young Athenian lovers and a group of six amateur commoners/actors who are manipulated by
fairies and their supernatural tricks. The author of this play is William Shakespeare.
The three settings of the play are the forest, the Dukes Palace, and the Quince s cottage. All the
mysterious and magical events take place in the forest. It is full of emotions and feelings. In contrast
with the forest, things happening in the palace and the characters seem to be guardians of the law and
order. The Quince s cottage is full of humor and jokes and represents a lower class society in contrast
to the Duke s palace.

the idea of trying to explain to the audience the meaning of the play as they act.

in the forest it is the supernatural, and in Quince s cottage it is humor and jokes.
The three settings of this play are a good to portray the life and the various layers of society:the Palace

The Titular Character Of William Shakespeare s Richard IIi
The titular character in Shakespeare s Richard III is a man whose body has been weakened and
warped by nature, and so must rely on his wit and cleverness to survive. Throughout the play, Richard
uses wordplay and persuasive language to convince others to support him or at least cease working
against him. Overall, Richard believes that his ability to use language makes him superior to others in
the courts of London, as is evident in the following selection: Was ever woman in this humour

Talkers are no good doers; be assured/We go to use our hands and not our tongues (1.3.349 351.)
These men have no desire to speak to Clarence, as such a conversation would only get in the way of
their work. If anything is to be accomplished, they must focus on using the strength of their arm rather
than that of their words. The men ultimately do choose to have a dialogue with Clarence due to the
prodding of their consciences, and so completely ignore Richard s warnings about speaking to
Clarence (1.4.159). Clarence does attempt to convince these assassins of his innocence, stating that the
king sends you not to murder me for this, for in that sin he is as deep as I (1.4.212 213). Clarence is
arguing that the king would be wrong for executing him for the sins of battle, as the king would be as
much as fault in that regard as Clarence is. The murderers give a curt denial, stating the following:
Relent? No. Tis cowardly and womanish (1.4.261). The man who states the previous line, and slays
Clarence, never intended to change his mind. Neither Richard nor Clarence s words influenced the
decisions of these murderers, who were only motivated by coin (1.4.123 124). When Anne and
Elizabeth utter curses toward their most bitter enemies, it seems that they believe that

The Importance Of Social And Personal Identity
Everyone has an identity. A person s characters are the combination of their memories, thoughts,
feelings, and personal experiences. If you are meeting someone new for the first time, what do you
see? Their difficult childhood? Their struggles to get where they are? People can only see other s outer
identity and not their character because the components that are the core of one s character is covered
up by their external identity, the labels. The labels shape a person s social and personal identity in
society and the environment they grew up in, conforming them to the norm and dispossesses the
identities of those who are different.
The human mind seeks order in chaos. It attempts to organize information provided to it. The human
mind doesn t like the unknown, so it will find similarities that the unknown has with something it
knows. When meeting someone new, the brain assigns a label to them, categorizing that person s
characteristics and traits and group them with others with similar characteristics. A tag is created to
differentiate people who differ from the norm. In society, people are labeled based on their race,
culture, gender, etc. If you tagged a person as Irish, using that label, when you are describing that
person to someone else, they would have an idea of what the person you are describing is like since
they would associate the person s traits with similar traits with the same label. Categorizing the
complex nature of human identities is impossible. These

Symbolic Perspective The culture of an institutions is highly tied to the symbolic leadership (Bolman

the power of a strong and coherent institutional culture and their role and responsibilities in creating
and sustaining that culture (p. 125). Symbolic leaders view their responsibility to tell the institutional
history/stories, set the vision for the future, as well as use ceremony, rituals, and symbols to capture
the attention of others to frame the image/meaning of the university (Bolman Gallos, 2011; Pourrajab

An essential element of the symbolic prospective is knowing the institutions past, often done through

constituents of the institution. There is a lack of story telling though on a wider scale at this university.
Colleagues share their stories informal and there has been resent efforts to better use alumni for this

though opens up great possibilities to address this concern. Possibilities could include providing

Comparing Characters in O Connor s A Good Man is Hard to Find and Revelation
The grandmother and The Misfit of Flannery O Connor s A Good Man is Hard to Find are backward,
opposite images of each other. However, the grandmother does have similarities with the character,
Ruby Turpin in O Connor s short story, Revelation .
The grandmother is portrayed as being a selfish self involved woman who wants her way, a person
with little memory, just a basic old woman living with her only son. The Misfit on the other hand is a
man who feels he has done no wrong, but has just been in the wrong place at the wrong time, but in
the end comes too close to the truth, which scares him.
From the beginning, the author introduces the grandmother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

road a car with 3 men pulled over one the grandmother stupidly introduces him to everyone as The
Misfit. One by one each person is taken to the woods and shot while the grandmother tries to spare her
life with The Misfit. Suddenly with the threat of death near her door she suddenly tries to be
something she is not. She sympathizes with him and tries to relate to him. All of this comes to no avail
if anything it antagonizes him which throws a switch in his mind and he reacts the only way he knows
how, by shooting her in the chest and putting his problem to an end.
In acting like someone she was not and being selfish toward her self she brought her own death upon
her. On the other hand, The Misfit, he believes he has done no wrong that the wrong has been done to
him, that society was to blame, not him. He thinks ever since his birth he has been on the down side
and the put down, from his father to all of society, but he sees himself as no better than anyone else
does. He is so kind to everyone even though he sends them one by one to their deaths. He believes he
never did anything to deserve to be put into jail, that he was again did wrong.

The Dignity Of Human Life Essay
David Swenson, who was born in Sweden and was a professor of University of Minnesota. He is well
known to the public for his publication of the article called The Dignity of Human Life , which was
originally published in 1949 and currently still could be found in many philosophy books (Klemke,
2008). The article of The dignity of Human life contains several different valuable ideas of the subject
to human life and also includes some great conclusions at the final. One of David s conclusion is that
people besides learning and acquiring practical skills from the formal education or training. People
also need something more than the practical skills, which is something of a different nature and it is
something someone concludes self. Swenson states that youth requires developing a view of life in
order to become a good person in moral and developed personalities. The view of life is not acquired
through training and learning provided by general means of formal education or experience, but is
obtained individually through thinking over someone s life, self exploring and subjective conviction.
The reason for developing such view of life is that view of life is the mean of giving one s life. it is a
principle of living, a spirit and an attitude capable of maintaining its unity and identity with itself in all
of life s complexities and varying vicissitudes. Said by Swenson. It is the sense, dignity and worth.
Otherwise, a life cannot be considered to be as living in a human

Descartes Substance Dualism Essay
Introduction
Descartes is an early proponents of substance dualism, the view that there are two substances, an
immaterial mind and a material body. One common objection raised against his view is the mind body
problem which raises the question of how the two different substances can possibly causally interact
on substance dualism. In this essay, I will put forth two of Descartes replies to the problem and argue
that they are successful. I will then consider one objection based on the law of conservation of energy
and give a reply.
Mind body Problem
For a substance dualist, the immaterial mind and the material body are two very different substances.
Descartes thought he had a clear and distinct idea of himself as a mind, a thinking substance ... Show

Descartes replies Gassendi as such: At no place do you produce objections to my arguments; you
merely put forward doubts that you think follow from my conclusions, though in fact they merely
arise from your desire to call in the imagination to examine matters which are not within its proper
province. Thus when you try to compare the intermingling of mind and body with the intermingling of
two bodies, it is enough for me to reply that we should not set up any comparison between such
things, because they are quite different in kind.
His reply points out that (1) cannot be proven. Those who affirm (1) do so mistakenly because they
are thinking about physical causation and applying such a concept of causation to the mind and body
which is another domain. To use an example, suppose someone watched a billiard ball hit another ball
which causes it to roll away. He then concludes that causation only works when two objects come into
physical contact with one another visibly. Hence he rejects concepts such as gravity and magnetism.
Obviously this is a categorical mistake to expect them to work in the same way. Likewise, anyone who
holds to (1) must show that mind body causation cannot work without appealing to physical causation,
since the mind is not physical in the first

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Diversity In...
Advantages
Diversity in an organization creates a diverse experience. Fellow employees with different cultural
backgrounds come up with a new set of experiences to share with other members in their departments.
Pooling the diverse knowledge and skills of culturally distinct workers together can benefit companies
by strengthening teams productivity and responsiveness to changing conditions which benefit the
company (Hndlaechner 2008, p. 152). If these new ideas they bring up with them are used
accordingly, it will have a positive impact on all employees within the organization and hence

The disadvantages can be worked on by training employees on how to relate to each other and avoid
unnecessary competition which may lead to low quality and reduction in productivity. Training might

in all countries around the world. When an organization adopts diversity policy it can perform better.
It is important for the companies to have knowledge about diversity and how to handle the negative
issues relating to it. Also, the need for the diverse workforce is getting more not only because there are
different people but also because they can produce better results with having different types of people
working together (Jager, B, and Cleland, A. 2016, 153). It is therefore recommended that diversity

Outline The Concept Of Skepticism
How do we know things for certain? How can I be certain of the things I consider to be true? The only
way we can know things for certain is through doubting the things we think we know, also known as
skepticism. In this paper I will argue that skepticism is the best way to know things for certain because
it acknowledges the presence of cognitive dissonance, self justification and the things we can learn by
questioning. I will proceed as follows: I will outline the concepts of skepticism, according to Carol
Tavris and Elliot Aronson, and the concepts of rationalism, according to René Descartes. Then, I will
compare rationalism and skepticism by explaining how challenging the ways we think we know stuff
and cognitive dissonance can affect how we perceive things through skepticism and describing
Descartes many principles based off of reason and how he uses these reasons to slowly affirm the
things we must know for certain through rationalism.
Epistemology is the study of how we attain knowledge or why we believe stuff in the way we do.
There are many branches in epistemology to explain how we learn and comprehend things, but also
how we can know things for certain. Skepticism, a concept within epistemology, is a way we know the
things we do with certainty. By using doubt and questioning how we perceive things, we can examine
the validity of the knowledge and ideas that people seem sure of or believe must be true. By assessing
things skeptically, it allows us to comprehend that

behind the basics of climate change and warming. It stateZs how humans have changed the chemistry
of the atmosphere through the combustion of fossil fuels and living matter, bringing about the prospect
of global alterations and shifts in the whole terrestrial climate system(Altomonte,2008,pg.97). It is this
reason that the world is experiencing climate change, and though the climate may have been naturally

Climate change is expected to negatively affect the future of most developing countries, increasing the
pressure on available resources that are associated with urbanisation and industrialisation(102). With
these affects in mind, Altomonte explains the mitigation and adaptations strategies to mitigate the
possible consequences of climate change. He highlights the issue of buildings, and how they highly
contribute to the issue of direct fossil fuel emissions, and therefore it is necessary that buildings reduce
their dependency on fossil fuels, curb their energy demands, exploit clean power sources and minimise
their wastes(103). Suitable technologies must therefore be integrated into the design of current
buildings to guarantee social, economic and environmental growth. Using new design strategies is
necessary to create buildings that ensure comfort and health of the staff, as well as do not negatively
impact the environment. To create such a building all fields of study must be included, inclduing
physchology, climatology and engineering so that there is whole understanding of the necessary
features for the building to reduce emissions and include necessary social, econmic and cultural values
(106). Altomonte states how these conditions of a new climate, now seem unavoidable(99), but there

Some of most notable events that manifest these major differences of thinking between these two
periods of time consist of the acts of poseidon being the cause of treacherous weather conditions at sea
resulting in the setback of his return home, Zeus washing Odysseus boat up to shore and the bag of
wind given to Odysseus by the God Aeolia as a one way ticket back home.
Poseidon created a major setback of harsh weather conditions for Odysseus and his crew out of anger
and vengeance for his son Polyphemus after Odysseus shot an arrow in his eye leaving him blind. As
the God of Sea, it is believed that Poseidon has the power to create unimaginable storms and in this
case a storm so strong its outcome delayed Odysseus voyage home by years, but modern day science

The Rise Of Pollution Levels
There I was in Shanghai, China, staring at the sun as if I were trying to look at a lamp behind a
curtain. The rise of pollution levels in China has intrigued the minds of people who never even cared
about the environment before. The People s Republic of China is now the largest emitter of CO2 in the
world. But of course, this a global phenomenon: a global phenomenon that in no way started with
China as Alanna Mitchell would agree to. By the end of the 19th century, the powerful duo that was
industrialization and imperialism spread industrial growth from Great Britain to Southeast Asia. From
the opium wars in the mid 19th century to the economic reforms of 1970s, China has been
incorporated into the global economy as the world s manufacturer. And as we know, modern
manufacturing is heavily reliant on fossil fuels. This has put an immense amount of international
pressure on the Chinese to improve their environmental footprint. But sustainable development needs
to start not just with China, but with all major players in the global economy. Mitchell s statement, the
idea that the planet s future might come down to China s choices is hard for the West to fathom (102)
is not only ironic, but a dangerous idea to accept. An historical context of China s industrialization and
urbanization will show you that Western interests in China led to its massive carbon emission. Further,
the root of the problem must be solved the way it started, with help from the West.

  • 2. Eat At My Restaurant Cash Flow Review Eat at My Restaurant Cash Flow Review Remaining profitable in the restaurant industry is a requirement conceivably not considered as difficult for common chains like Taco Bell, Panera and Starbucks. Many factors impact the sustainability of cash flow for the restaurant industry when looking at changes in market trends for a product, menu pricing, and inventory management. Consistent to each of the parent companies for these restaurants however, is the need to ensure adequate and positive cash flow to satisfy the corporation s stakeholders. An evaluation of these three parent companies to identify potential cash flow problems will consider each firm s long term profitability, offer observations on cash flows and potential risk from the potential investor s perspective. Long term Profitability Where long term profitability for an investor is the basis for the choice of where to invest, one should differentiate difference between net cash from operating activities and net income. Net cash from operating activities represents cash generated from the primary business function (Gibson, 2013), in this case food service. It is essentially a line item in the overarching net income of the company which demonstrates the company s profitability. With these two values, an investor can differentiate the effect of increasing, declining or stagnant sales from the overarching reported net income value of the organization. The best indicator of long term profitability will be net ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Palestinian-Israeli Conflict in the Middle East Essay The Palestinian Israeli Conflict in the Middle East The Arab world is not in a compromising mood... Nations never concede; they fight. You won t get anything by peaceful means or compromise. You can, perhaps get something, but only by the force of your arms...But it s too late to talk of peaceful solutions (Bard 1). The Arab League Secretary Azzam Pasha said this statement on September 16, 1947, eight months before the state of Israel was established. The Arabs held this mentality in a time when Israel was not yet a fact. This trait was hereditary in the sense that it was taught to their children, who taught it to their children, and so on. Those are the people who are living in Arab countries, and still despise everything about Israel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though a cease fire was in effect, the war continued as Arabs closed the Suez Canal to Israel shipping and Israel (in retaliation) did not allow the 700,000 Arab refugees return to their homes (Regan 22). The problem was that no Arab State wanted those refugees so camps were set up in Gaza Strip, which was controlled by Egypt, and the West Bank, which was controlled by Jordan (23). This inability to find a home land for the people now called Palestinians would lead to many of Israel s conflicts with the Arab world. The Arabs did not want their Palestinian brothers in their countries but, for some reason, Israel, the Jewish State, was supposed to take them in even though it had the best reason not to. Was Israel, which had just won the war, now supposed to take back their enemies? Of course not. From 1949 to 1956, there was no peace in Israel, because Egypt continued attacking Israel from one side while Syria continued attacking from the other. In 1953, in order to try to stop the violence, Israel passed the Land Acquisition Law, offering payment for property taken from Arab citizens of Israel who lived there between May 4, 1949 and April 1, 1952 (Silverman 54). However that did not appear to stop the terror in the region or make peace with its neighbors. On October 14, 1956 Egyptian President Nasser said, [o]ur hatred is very strong. There is no sense in talking about peace with Israel. There is not the smallest place for negotiations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Asymmetry In Crabs On the other hand, symmetry is an ancestral trait and that asymmetry is believed to be a secondary characteristic developed by an animal organism as a response to stressors in its environment (McLaughlin, et al., 2004). Symmetry and asymmetry is usually measured among bilateral characters in an organism such as the bilateral segments in a decapod pereiopods. The decapod crab Ranina ranina have several bilateral characters such as the spines on its carapace and the segments comprising its pereiopods. Asymmetry in crabs has been a subject of interest among evolutionary biologist as it gives the idea as to how a certain character evolve in shape in order to accommodate genetic and environmental perturbations resulting to the formation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Asymmetry in decapods has been a focus of an on and off interest as observed by Oppenheimer (1974) in McLaughlin, et al.,(2004) among carcinologist as decapod asymmetry has been a focus of importance for nearly a century (Przibram 1905; Emmel 1908), then interest plummeted and risen again. Asymmetry in abdomen shape between male and female crab have been observed among Ranina ranina as early as the instar 1 larval stage (Minagawa, 1993) rendering this character to be sexually dimorphic among these crabs. Posteriorly attached to the carapace, these structure provides adherence for eggs for ovigerous females. What makes the R. ranina abdomen unique among crab species is it attachment to the carapace. While in most crabs, abdomen are folded towards the ventral aspect of the crab, in R. ranina, it is partially extended away from the ventral aspect that it looks like a tail instead of as an abdomen. The abdomen also participates in the digging activity of the crab (Faulks, 2006). Asymmetry in pleopods was observed among paguroids as an offshoot of the type of shells they are inhabiting. Asymmetry in shapes are often associated with the frequent use of a particular character such as handedness or constant use (McLaughlin, et ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Efficient Delivery Of Cancer The efficient delivery of drugs and energy to tumors faces several difficulties and obstacles that need to be overcome for effective cancer treatment. Nanoparticles administrated through intravenous injections accumulate at a tumor site due to the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect, but only a small quantity of the injected particles can actually reach the tumor (Su et al, 2016). The majority of the nanoparticles interact with cancer cells at the periphery of a tumor which presents a physiological barrier that prevents most of the injected particles from reaching the tumor (Su et al, 2016). In addition to this barrier, there is also another significant obstacle, cancer associated fibroblasts , which can also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This conglomerate composed of protein lipid, sponge like carbon, and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) was administrated by the researchers to mice in order to study the material s ability to transport the hydrophobic drug docetaxel (DTX) and perfluorohexane (PFH) for deep tumor penetration and therapy (Su et al, 2016). The Lf lipo GNS composite is capable of carrying large amounts of drugs in its pores which can be released through the absorption of light by the GNS. By applying near infrared (NIR) irradiation, the gasification of PFH occurs due to an increase in local temperature in the graphene nanosponge which as a result damages and ruptures tumor spheroids (Su et al, 2016). Consequently, the combined effects of gasification and chemo and thermotherapy can substantially reduce tumors and even completely eliminate them without future reappearance. EVALUATION OF EFFECT OF NON STEROIDAL ANTI INFLAMMATORY DRUGS ON GROWTH OF PROBIOTICS  Nsaids might be our future antibiotics as they show antimicrobial properties... Nida Rizvi1, Ma am Azra Riaz2 1, 2 Pharmacy department, faculty of pharmacology, University of Karachi. Abstract: Effect of various concentrations of NSAIDs (Non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs) on growth of commercial probiotic preparations (A, B, C, and D) were observed by agar well diffusion assay. Zone of inhibition was recorded after 24 h and found that different samples of probiotics showed more or less susceptibility to different doses of NSAIDs. This indicates that NSAIDs beside anti inflammatory response may give antibiotic effect as well. Keywords: NSAIDs, antibiotic, probiotics. 1. Introduction: According to the definition by WHO and FAO, probiotics are live microorganisms which when administered in adequate amounts confers a health benefit on the host. Probiotics are available to consumers mainly in the form of foods and as dietary supplements. NSAIDs have analgesic, antipyretic effects and also have anti inflammatory effects in higher doses. Use of NSAID is associated with increased risk of gastrointestinal and cardiovascular effects mainly due to the inhibition of prostanoid biosynthesis. NSAIDs have many applications in pharmacokinetics and medicinal. This review aims to examine antimicrobial property of NSAIDs (ibuprofen, aspirin, and diclofenac). 2. • 9. The Pros And Cons Of Inequality Equality and justice are core values in modern democracies. Yet, we curiously accept massive levels of inequality. In fact, there are numerous reasons why countries accept or even promote economic inequality. In this paper, I will argue that everyone has a right to benefit from their own labour. And, it follows from this right that governments should act against inequality only to raise the neediest above a level of subsistence. In Canada, the richest 20% own over 70% of total wealth while the bottom 20% own less than 1%. This has important implications according to many experts, including epidemiologist Richard Wilkinson. His research reveals a strong connection between inequality and social problems such as mental illness, drug addiction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This argument has two sides to it. Firstly, that inequality causes major social problems. But correlation does not always imply causation. The best performing countries on Wilkinson s index of health and social problems, while relatively equal, all are measured as the happiest countries in the world with strong community spirit. Inequality and social problems are likely to be symptoms rather than causes of countries lacking this cooperative attitude. The second side to the argument is that inequality is itself unjust. However, few philosophers would claim justice or fairness relates only to equality. There must also be an element of need or merit. Some people are simply more deserving. Ability or willingness to work hard contributes to this merit. Additionally, not everyone requires the same resources to achieve the same standard of living. For instance, housing and transportation is likely costlier for someone living in Toronto compared to suburban Ontario. In this sense, justice may not only tolerate, but require ... The recent merger between Davis Manufacturing and Bartlund Technologies present such a scenario when the necessity for more efficient operations calls for the closing of a facility in San Jose, CA along with the reduction of that facilities staff by 20%, before relocating the rest. • 21. The Importance Of Social And Personal Identity Everyone has an identity. A person s characters are the combination of their memories, thoughts, feelings, and personal experiences. If you are meeting someone new for the first time, what do you see? Their difficult childhood? Their struggles to get where they are? People can only see other s outer identity and not their character because the components that are the core of one s character is covered up by their external identity, the labels. The labels shape a person s social and personal identity in society and the environment they grew up in, conforming them to the norm and dispossesses the identities of those who are different. The human mind seeks order in chaos. It attempts to organize information provided to it. The human mind doesn t like the unknown, so it will find similarities that the unknown has with something it knows. When meeting someone new, the brain assigns a label to them, categorizing that person s characteristics and traits and group them with others with similar characteristics. A tag is created to differentiate people who differ from the norm. In society, people are labeled based on their race, culture, gender, etc. If you tagged a person as Irish, using that label, when you are describing that person to someone else, they would have an idea of what the person you are describing is like since they would associate the person s traits with similar traits with the same label. Gawain, I agree to the terms ( Sir Gawain And The Green Knight 209); Sir Gawain fails to follow the rules of the game as pride and selfishness goes upon him as the wife of Bertilak presents Sir Gawain a green girdle in which The body which is bound within this green belt,as long as it is buckled robustly about him, will be safe against anyone who seeks to strike him, (Sir Gawain And The Green Knight 224). Sir Gawain s youthful pride and selfishness character makes him care for his own life and not the agreement, therefore he failed to honor his word and obey the chivalric code. • 32. Outline The Concept Of Skepticism How do we know things for certain? How can I be certain of the things I consider to be true? The only way we can know things for certain is through doubting the things we think we know, also known as skepticism. In this paper I will argue that skepticism is the best way to know things for certain because it acknowledges the presence of cognitive dissonance, self justification and the things we can learn by questioning. I will proceed as follows: I will outline the concepts of skepticism, according to Carol Tavris and Elliot Aronson, and the concepts of rationalism, according to René Descartes. Then, I will compare rationalism and skepticism by explaining how challenging the ways we think we know stuff and cognitive dissonance can affect how we perceive things through skepticism and describing Descartes many principles based off of reason and how he uses these reasons to slowly affirm the things we must know for certain through rationalism. Epistemology is the study of how we attain knowledge or why we believe stuff in the way we do. There are many branches in epistemology to explain how we learn and comprehend things, but also how we can know things for certain. Skepticism, a concept within epistemology, is a way we know the things we do with certainty. By using doubt and questioning how we perceive things, we can examine the validity of the knowledge and ideas that people seem sure of or believe must be true. By assessing things skeptically, it allows us to comprehend that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He highlights the issue of buildings, and how they highly contribute to the issue of direct fossil fuel emissions, and therefore it is necessary that buildings reduce their dependency on fossil fuels, curb their energy demands, exploit clean power sources and minimise their wastes(103). Suitable technologies must therefore be integrated into the design of current buildings to guarantee social, economic and environmental growth. Using new design strategies is necessary to create buildings that ensure comfort and health of the staff, as well as do not negatively impact the environment. To create such a building all fields of study must be included, inclduing physchology, climatology and engineering so that there is whole understanding of the necessary features for the building to reduce emissions and include necessary social, econmic and cultural values (106). • 38. The Rise Of Pollution Levels There I was in Shanghai, China, staring at the sun as if I were trying to look at a lamp behind a curtain. The rise of pollution levels in China has intrigued the minds of people who never even cared about the environment before. The People s Republic of China is now the largest emitter of CO2 in the world. But of course, this a global phenomenon: a global phenomenon that in no way started with China as Alanna Mitchell would agree to. By the end of the 19th century, the powerful duo that was industrialization and imperialism spread industrial growth from Great Britain to Southeast Asia. From the opium wars in the mid 19th century to the economic reforms of 1970s, China has been incorporated into the global economy as the world s manufacturer. And as we know, modern manufacturing is heavily reliant on fossil fuels. This has put an immense amount of international pressure on the Chinese to improve their environmental footprint. But sustainable development needs to start not just with China, but with all major players in the global economy. Mitchell s statement, the idea that the planet s future might come down to China s choices is hard for the West to fathom (102) is not only ironic, but a dangerous idea to accept. An historical context of China s industrialization and urbanization will show you that Western interests in China led to its massive carbon emission. Further, the root of the problem must be solved the way it started, with help from the West. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
