Egyptian Devil Disease
Tasmanian Devils are small marsupials that possess rat like features such as sharp teeth, black or
brown fur and are roughly 20 to 31 inches tall. These creatures possess poor temperament, growling,
baring teeth and lunging when provoked or under threat. Because of their aggressive behavior, they
are solitary creatures, only interacting with one another during the mating seasons of March. They
give birth to up to 20 young during this time, however the female as only four teats, meaning only four
of the imps can survive. The general lifespan of a Tasmanian devil is 5 6 years, and within that time
the devils feed on birds, snakes, fish and carrion (quite often road kill on roads). They live in small
dens or old wombat burrows and are nocturnal, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many scientists have expressed their own opinions, but none have been found to be officially accurate
on the matter. Many researchers including A M Pearse, K.Swift, after much research, came to the
conclusion that DFTD spread through Allograft, the means of cancerous cells spread from one animal
to another through physical interactions such as biting, fighting or mating. This process of spreading is
much like that of a transplant, and once the cancer cell has entered the devil s body, it develops the
mechanism to go through and resist the attacks of the immune system. For this particular reason, a
proper vaccine as not been discovered yet and the Tasmania devils have no actual cure to save them
from this widespread disease. The Allograft theory has not been confirmed to be the case yet as it does
not apply to the rules of normal cancerous cells and diseases sparked from those cells. However, once
more information regarding this cancerous disease has been established, scientists can work towards
finding some form of medical treatment for the devils. Having said that, more scientific mechanisms
to save the devils has been proposed, including one of which may be what saves the Tasmanian
Devils. In recent years, an authorized project known as the Maria Island Devil Translocation has taken
place, and already has produced results and statistics that look promising for the Tasmanian Devil s
species. The Maria Island project, which started in 2012, is a rehabilitation program that selects both
wild and captive devils and places them on Maria Island, a small island located off to the east of
Tasmania. Maria Island is a land free of DFTD due to Tasmanian devils not being a

5. Since the operating income boost from 562 in 2009 to 1728.5 in 2011 and the sales just increases
from 9774.6 to 11700.4, the net profit margin of Starbucks increases from 4% in 2009 to 10.65% in
2011. The differences mean that by considering the costs and expenses, Starbucks become more
profitable in 2011. It generates 10.65 cents in net income for every dollar in sales in 2011. 6. The
current ratio of Starbucks in 2011 increases to 1.83 times from 1.29 times in 2009. To a creditor,
higher current ratio means he can get his money more quickly. To the Starbucks, higher current ratio
means an inefficient use of cash and other short term asset. Thus, Starbucks had more net working
capital and was less efficient in using short term assets in 2011 than it was in 2009 and 2010. 7. The
debt assets ratio of Starbucks decreases 4.61% from 2009 to 2011. The main reason for this change is
not the decrease in debt but the increase in total assets. The number of available for sale securities,
inventories and cash and cash equivalents increase 3900.77%, 145.25% and 191.41%, respectively. To
creditors, lower debt assets ratio means they can get their money back with less risk. To shareholders,
lower debt assets ratio indicates that on one hand, Starbucks has lower risk to repay the money to its
creditors and lower interest expense;

Essay about The Zebra Mussel
Populations of the zebra mussel, Dreissena polymorpha (Pallas), were first found in the Laurentian
Great Lakes in 1988 (Hebert et al., 1989). This species is native to the Caspian, Aral, and Black Seas
and the rivers that drain into them but has spread throughout Europe, principally during the 18th
century. Since it is restricted to estuarine and freshwater habitats, it is presumed that it was introduced
into North America by ballast waters of transoceanic vessels. Based on the substantial amount of
genetic variation found in these initial populations, as estimated from electrophoretic variation of
allozymes, the colonization of the Great Lakes was by a large number of immigrants and not just a

This blockage can result in heat damage to power plants and necessitates costly removal or
replacement of intake pipes (Minchin and Moriarty, 1998).
Colonization by zebra mussels has devastating ecological impacts on native bivalves (Mackie, 1991;
Haag et al., 1993), frequently driving them to local extinction. Zebra mussels readily, perhaps
preferentially, settle on native bivalves and eventually cover them over. They filter the water so
efficiently that they can lower the amount of suspended food organisms below levels needed to sustain
native unionids.
Their success in spreading rapidly and colonizing new areas is due to two features of zebra mussel
biology. Firstly, zebra mussels produce large numbers ( gt; 30,000 per female) of planktotrophic
veliger larvae which can survive for 10 15 days (Hebert et al., 1989). Such larvae are well suited for
efficient dispersal by water currents, especially in riverine systems. Additionally, they don t require the
presence of suitable host species of fish, as do native unionid larvae. Secondly, the spread of zebra
mussels is aided by their ability to attach to objects by byssal threads (the same ability that leads to
their fouling problems). Because of this ability, adult zebra mussels can attach to and be spread by
ships,

ABSTRACT
How is performance management linked to organizational strategy execution and performance? A case
study of two organizations of different scale in Asia
By Raveenderen Ramamoothie Strategy execution is a topic of practical importance and its success
depends on how an organization integrates and aligns the business units and the employee
performance to the strategic goals of the organization. However, many organizations find that their
strategic goals realization is not optimized. One of the key issues is that the strategy and the
performance goals of an organization are often disconnected with the performance management
platform, a function of the strategic HR in managing employee performance. Essentially in this

A stinging pain surfaced on my cheek from the hard slap of my father s hand. I winced in pain, sitting
on my hands in an effort not to fight back. He looked at me once more, shook his head, and left,

An Analysis Of Robert Stam s Time And The City
Both literature and cinema have the ability to emotionally engage its audience not just through the
language and visuals but through the poetics created from it. While literature focuses on precise
language and structuring, film can also make use of various mediums to build on a theme. Many of the
poetic themes in both mediums, however, are found in their use of disunity. Robert Stam appropriately
describes this power of disunity: Each of the filmic tracks can potentially develop an autonomous
temporality entering into complex relations with the other tracks. Film s multitrack nature makes it
possible to stage contradiction between music and image... A quoted piece of music, with its own
rhythm and continuity can accompany an image track characterized by a different rhythm and
continuity. Thus the cinema offers possibilities of disunity and disjunction not immediately available
to the novel. The possible contradictions between tracks can become an aesthetic resource. Terence
Davies Of Time and the City utilizes this multitrack nature of film. The juxtaposition of music,
sounds, and imagery helps elevate the themes and words of Davies. The Folks Who Live on the Hill
scene is a good example of visual metaphors through juxtaposition. The black and white montage
begins with shots of the elderly in a Liverpool neighborhood. These are then followed by clips of
parents nurturing their babies and children in the neighborhood, occasionally showing glimpses of the
elderly in the

Gallipoli Mission Command Analysis
Mission Command: Anzac Cove Landing The Battle of Gallipoli, or the Gallipoli Campaign, was
fought during the First World War. It is known by either name because the Battle of Gallipoli featured
many different battles and phases that comprised the entirety of the campaign. This engagement began
on February 17, 1915 and ended on January 9, 1916. The Allied forces were tasked with attempting to
secure the strait. The purpose of this was twofold: first, it provided the Russian Empire with much
needed shipping access, and second, it would serve to cut the Ottoman Empire in half. The Allies also
planned to capture the capital of the Ottoman Empire during this operation. The British and the French
attempted to launch a combined naval offensive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was placed in command of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. Prior to the landings on
the Gallipoli peninsula, the general decided to split his forces. As Powles described: The New Zealand
and Australian Division normally also had two mounted brigades assigned to it, but these had been left
in Egypt, as it was believed there would be no requirement or opportunities to use mounted troops on
the peninsula. (Powles, 1922) This is an example of accepting prudent risk. However, here, the general
made a poor choice because he could have utilized those brigades had they dismounted upon landing.
The accounts of why he made this particular decision vary greatly. Some historians believe he did it
because he did not have the resources to transport the troops from Egypt to Turkey. Other accounts
argue that he did not believe that the enemy merited the extra troops. Regardless of the reason behind
the choice, the general did not correctly exercise prudent risk in this case. The landing at Anzac Cove
was set to send the 1st Australian Division ashore first. Their task was to establish strong points on
Gun Ridge, and the purpose behind this pass the 3rd Infantry Brigade in order to facilitate their
capture of the remainder of Gun Ridge. Then, with the capture of Gun Ridge, the 2nd Infantry Brigade
would execute a forward passage of lines to capture of the high ground of Sari Bair. Looking at this
action through the lens of mission command, it is a

The Pros And Cons Of Counterterrorism In Russia
In 1996, Duma adopted a Criminal Code, which specified the crime elements. Some of them are,
Encroachment on the Life of a Statesman or a Public Figure in Article 277, Terrorism in Article 205,
Hostage Taking in Article 206 and Hijacking of an Aircraft, a Seagoing Ship, or a Railway Train in
Article 211. (The Criminal Code Of The Russian Federation, 2000). Additionally 1998 the Federal
Law On the Fight against Terrorism and 2006 On Counteraction to Terrorism are the main, legal basis
for counterterrorism policies and operations. Russia s experience with jihadist terrorism more than 20

changed the ways of combatting. Alongside with the law, Putin declared the establishment of a
committee. Together with the National Counterterrorism Committee, it was expected that to replace
the previous committee, the Federal Counterterrorism Committee and move the responsibility of
operations from prime minister to FSB director. (Luchterhandt). Related to this, for some authorities
the main reason of failure in Beslan was the transfer of responsibilities from the FSB to MVD.

Greenwood Cemetery Research Paper
Your walking through a cemetery at night. You feel as if someone is watching you though no life is
there. You look away for a split second and you see a man about 20 feet in front of you. You freeze
looking straight towards the man as if you are being arrested. The man walks slowly to you, you are
still frozen. You start to walk back slowly then faster. You start sprinting and you look behind you but
no one is there. Are you going crazy or was it a ghost?
Many people ask what are ghost. A ghost is an apparition of a dead person that is believed to appear or
become manifest to the living, typically as a cloud/hazy image. They are all over the world and most
likely in your own home. I have had my fair share of experiences with ghost. For example I was
pushed down the stairs by a ghost and or I was not being careful. I was also with by brother and we
heard footsteps and laughing upstairs when nobody was home except us. My brother had heard a
demon and that s why I am a firm believer of the supernatural. You never know, you may have some

Gender And Gender Identity
In light of performativity, political transformation via hegemonic cultural practices continues to
advocate for gender parody. Overall, the recent exploration of alterity ethics complements
performativity politics by exploiting the subversive potential of gender identity as well as female
identity. For the oppressed individuals, power should be subverted via political strategy guided by the
consequences and punishment with the objective of maximizing the good in the society. In other
words, performativity politics described by the recent works of Butler takes the form of action
consequentialism. Still, Butler s politics is reversed by the ethics without coming to a satisfactory
position.
Gender Identity

People are under constant duress from the society to conform to the gendered performance stipulated
by the traditional norms and culture. According to Severiens, the philosophical account of gender
identity evolves in the context of interpersonal bonds and enculturalization, and social realities that
shape a person s identity (3). Even so, cultural discourses analysis plays a significant role in
acknowledging the difference that exists between texts; therefore, different modes of communication
influence the interconnection between the text and the cultural meaning the discourse. Besides, the
discourse analysis of culture provides more information on the communication pattern as well as the
generic behavior from the cultural situation and the context of the social situation. In this case, the
intricate weave of cultural psychoanalysis contests the conception of the previous theme that exists
before cultural identities. More radically, the proponents view of the feminist distinction between
gender and sex. Still, the political stakes at the institutions emerge from the cultural constructs of sex
to contribute to the aspect of political identity.
Cultural Discourse of Gendered Performativity

agent that operates on the body to constitute the concepts of femininity and masculinity and at the

The Societal And Cultural Values
There are different ways through which artists represent gender in their works. Whereas there are
artists that represent diverse gender as people of dignity, others represent them with a lot of
stereotypes. For instance, most male artists have represented women as money hungry individuals
with lavish lifestyle. Consequently, the male rappers have in most cases objectified women and used
them to portray their fantasy lifestyle. It is because of this kind of representation that this paper
analyses 50 Cents Candy Shop. In this essay I will specifically discuss the societal and cultural values
50 cent portrays through his music and music videos. The essay will also explore the message that 50
Cent delivers to his audience and how it influences their behaviors and values. During his first few
albums, 50 Cent portrayed a more Ghetto lifestyle. It is worth mentioning that his popularity was on
the rise and therefore, his lifestyle did not reflect the rich lifestyle that he is now. The scenes and his
mode of dressing and even lyrics at this time depicted a ghetto glam lifestyle. However, ones he made
fortune through music, his lyrics changed and grew with him. Most of his music, lyrics, mode of
dressing and even places where he shoots his movie reflects this fact. In his Candy shop, he uses
women actors to portray his lavish lifestyle. The video begins by showing 50 Cent driving up to what
appears to be a mansion. Inside the mansion, there are several women who are dressed

Freedom Of Religion In The British Colonies
The British Colonists traveled over into the New World for society to work out in their own favor.
However, this was not the case for these colonists; they carelessly came into the New World with the
intent of having their own freedom of religion, being culturally intertwined with the natives already,
and for their own overall independence economically . The British did not make a smooth
transformation into this New World when they first arrived over seas, they brought chaos not only to
the Natives but also the development of their colonies and themselves.
A plan for some of the colonists moving to the New World was freedom of religion, such as the
quakers (located in Pennsylvania) and pilgrims believed in the freedom of living off of your own
specific religion. The puritans on the other hand, settled in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1629 ,
identified themselves as God s chosen pure angels because of their belief that they were born saved
into the world. They would also turn a blind eye to other denominations and focused on their church to
be an Angelic Catholic Church specifically. Which of course if you know anything about their home
back in Europe. That is their main denomination over in Britain and they do required everyone to
believe in. The puritans brought over their beliefs from England not trying to make it into their own.
For example in England they created various religious laws, that were put into place over from
England but now the laws transferred into

she is in love with him. She plans to get rid of her by casting a death spell, so she can have Proctor to

Analysis Of The Book The Hardy Boys
The Hardy Boys series written by various authors, all under the pseudonym Franklin W. Dixon has
been around for a very long time. Their first appearance was in 1927, and they have survived
numerous reboots and reprints since then. Part of their charm, especially for kids, is that, unlike
Sherlock Holmes and other popular detectives, they are teenagers. Like their readers, they have
school, chores, and church on Sunday. This essay will focus, as far as plot is concerned on the first
book The Tower Treasure, the differences between the Hardy Boys and typical detective fiction, as
well as on the cultural impact of the books. The Tower Treasure begins with the sons of private
detective Fenton Hardy running an errand for their father. The errand and their lives are almost cut
short, however by a speeding car that nearly runs them off the road. They survive the incident, and
continue on, completing their errand successfully. They then detour to the farm of Chet Morton, a
school chum of the Hardy boys [who] lived on a farm about a mile out of Bayport (Dixon 14). On the
way to Chet s they discover the car that almost killed them overturned. They examine the wreck to
find that it has been abandoned. Upon arriving at Chet s, they discover that his jalopy, the Queen has
been stolen. They drive into their hometown of Bayport, where they run into Callie Shaw. Callie
accuses Chet of lending his car to someone who then hit her and ruined a cake she was carrying for a

Populism In Latin America
Introduction.
In any social science, it is hard to find a concept that has a single, universally accepted definition. Any
scholar has a vision of what characteristics are inherent to this or that phenomenon. The concept of
populism is not an exception. It is one of the most difficult in this respect, as many researchers at
different times have used this term to refer to different phenomena: starting from the style of speech
and ending with a certain stage of development in the process of modernization of the state.
In my paper, the concept of populism is defined by Kurt Weyland as a specific political strategy when
the charismatic leader is directly appealing to the masses, populism is best defined as a political
strategy through which a personalistic leader seeks or exercises government power based on direct,
unmediated, uninstitutionalized support from large numbers of mostly unorganized followers . The
concept of populism as a political strategy is usually used in relation to Latin America. This continent
has a long history of populism, beginning with the 1930s 1960s, when the first wave of populist
regimes was formed (Lazaro Cárdenas in Mexico, Victor Raul Haya de la Torre in Peru, Getulio
Vargas in Brazil and Juan Peron in Argentina). Toward the end of XX beginning of XXI century the
emergence of new radical populist regimes occurred not only in Latin America but also in Eastern
Europe. However, the researchers did not rush to analyze the Eastern European regimes,

not shared in the same approach, and staff feel uninformed. It was further mentioned that staff and

which exist. It was explained that important information often fall through the cracks or take too long
to be disseminated because of the uncoordinated system.. A national manager offered a solution saying

Fight Night 24 Thesis Statement
UFC Fight Night 119 heads back to Brazil this Saturday and will feature a top talent looking to make a
statement, and the return of a former champion. Derek Brunson, the No. 7 ranked middleweight in the
world, will take on Brazilian legend Lyoto Machida in a fight that means something vastly different to
both fighters.
For Brunson, Saturday s clash is a chance to defeat a legend and prove that he belongs in the top 5 of
the middleweight rankings. He s coming off a first round TKO and dismantling of Daniel Kelly in
June. Prior to defeating Kelly, Brunson was on a two fight losing skid with losses to interim champion
Robert Whitaker and long time champion Anderson Silva.
The loss to Silva was highly controversial, as Brunson landed more ... Show more content on

During his respected career, Machida has had key wins over other big MMA names, including Gegard
Mousasi, Dan Henderson, Ryan Bader, Rashad Evans, Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz, BJ Penn and
Mauricio Shogun Rua.
Co main event
Saturday night s co main event is a welterweight bout between a highly ranked veteran and a rising
star looking to make a statement.
No. 3 ranked welterweight Demian Maia is fighting for the first time since losing to champion Tyron
Woodley in July. He ll take on the No. 8 ranked welterweight, Colby Covington, with the benefit, or
perhaps the added pressure, of fighting in his native Brazil.
Prior to the unanimous decision loss to Woodley, Maia had reeled off seven straight victories, using
his superb jiu jitsu to his advantage against his opposition. Covington has high level wrestling, which
Maia will certainly test. Woodley was the first and only fighter to completely shut down Maia s
takedown attempts, so Covington will have his hands full.
Covington is riding a four fight win streak, but Maia will without a doubt be his toughest opponent
yet. He last defeated Dong Hyun Kim in June, and his last loss was in December 2015 to Warlley
Alves. A win over Maia would likely propel him into the top 5 of the welterweight division.
A win for Maia would put him right back in the title conversation, but he

The Failure Of The League Of Nations
The League of Nations was doomed To failure from the start Adam Jenner Many may believe that the
League of Nations was doomed to failure as soon as the doors of their Geneva headquarters were
opened; many may say that it was built on unstable foundations; that the very idea of it was a grave
misjudgment by the powers that were. Indeed it is true that the League of Nations, when it was set up
was marred with many fundamental flaws. The League of Nations was formed after the end of the
First World War. It was an idea that President Wilson introduced as an international police force to
maintain peace and to ensure the devastating atrocities like the First World War ever happening again.
The principle mission of the League of Nations was to maintain World Peace. Their failure as the
international peacekeeping organization to maintain world peace brought the outbreak of Second
World War. Their failure in policing and preventing peace in settling disputes throughout Europe,
erupted into the most devastating war ever. Through my analysis of the failures of the League of
Nations to maintain world peace, my arguments will demonstrate the understandings of the reasons
and events that created the most devastating environment for the Second World War.
When the league first started everyone had different ideas of what organization it should be and what
aims it should have. The league was based on the covenant a set of 26 articles or rules which all
members had to agree to and the

These resistance movements, Oka, Gustafsen Lake, and Burnt Church each had their own reasons as
to why they started, and how the First Nations people fought for what they believed in. They fought
for their rights to fish, to keep their sacred land safe and to be able to use sacred land for their Sun
Dances. These resistances were between the First Nations people and the non First Nations people, the
Oka resistance was the Mohawk people and they were trying to protect their lands from an impending

These Mohawk group of people originally had the right to the land and it was theirs at one point but

From then on the Mohawk people have been trying to get what is left of their land back, and to stop

The Great Dictator And No Regrets For Our Youth
There were three films we saw in class; these three films were made during political and social change
in their respective countries. The three films have a similar style and it helped people to cope with this
reality. These films represent the political social freedom of speech. First, The Great Dictator, a film
with humor, was made at the beginning of World War II when Charlie Chaplin spoke for the first time
representing different characters to prove his opposition against Nazism and mocking Hitler. His
humoristic film relieves political stress over society. Next, No Regrets For Our Youth, a sentimental
film, was made at the end of World War II and represents a new generation with new changes. The

Opportunity Reed Reflection
I look forward to the opportunity Reed offers, to share something of value with the community during
Paideia. The Greek word not only means education, as the prompt indicates; it also connotes the
development of the ideal citizen, requiring discipline and emotional health as well as content learning.
The experience I have had that comes closest to this is the work of being in the present moment. Often
called mindfulness, it s a tool for opening oneself up to a deep education of the mind, body and spirit;
along with significant connections to the intellectual pursuits of neuroscience and psychology.
I believe the mindfulness movement sprung from monastic requirements, rather than from academic
psychology or practical medicine, even though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While I feel insufficiently trained to teach official MBSR, I would be glad to share not only what I
have learned about it, my passion and curiosity, but also how it can help others.
I see this class as especially pertinent to Reed because of its honor code. The principle of honor
requires that people have both integrity and mutual respect. One must be able to calmly and clearly
evaluate a course of action and a fair minded attitude towards it. For these goals there may be no
better prescription than calm abiding in the present moment.
Cultivating more skillful ways of responding to stress and distress is one of my goals, and another is to
share something I have found so beneficial for my mental health and general well being. The learning,
and its practice involve group activities and connection at their core, key aspects of a comprehensive
college education. Think of all the things college freshmen go through: leaving home for the first time,
interacting with different and new people in a community, test anxiety, regulating sleep/eating in a
new environment. Learning what is most healthy and good could all be experienced more positively

Michael Pollan s All Flesh Is Grass
In All Flesh Is Grass, Michael Pollan investigates the alternative models of producing food. To study
the agricultural food chain, Pollan begins his journey in chapter 8 at Joel Salatin s Polyface farm in
Virginia, helping to make hay. Polyface farm is home to a wide variety of crops and livestock:
chicken, beef, turkeys, eggs, rabbits, pigs, tomatoes, sweet corn and berries. Salatin calls himself a
grass farmer. He takes into a deeper analysis on organic food, one of the most rapidly expanding
product lines in America s supermarket. There Michael gets to see the symbiotic relationship between
animals and grass in action. Michael Pollan talks about an alternative method of producing food that is
being overshadowed by the big, industrial system. Salatin s 100 acre Farm produces 25,000 pounds of
beef, 50,000 pounds of pork, 30,000 dozen eggs, etc. Pollan indicates Polyface is an alternative farm,
resembles the old agricultural ideals, and that grass is the primary foundation for the farm. There is a
variety of native grasses and animals who contribute to how the farm function effectively without
chemical pesticides, fertilizers, or animal antibiotics. This is because everything on Salatin s farm

produced from the industrial organic farms which belong to the industrial food chain instead of the

The First Creation Myth Is The Hindu Version Of Creation
The first creation myth is the Hindu version of creation, and it is about the sacrifice of the Man
(Purusha), the man with a thousand heads, eyes, and feet. The Man himself is all this, whatever has
been and whatever is to be and he is the creator and the one creation comes from. He is sacrificed by
the gods and his body makes up the earth. The Man s mouth was the brahmin, his arms were made
into the nobles, his two thighs were the populace, and from his feet the servants were born. The moon
was born from his mind; the sun was born from his eye. After, his mouth came Indra (4) and Agni, and
from his vital breath the wind (Vyu) was born. Then his navel the atmosphere was born; from his head
the heaven emerged. From his two feet came the earth, and the expanses of the sky from his ear.
The second creation story is the story from the Bible, which is Christians version of creation. On the
first day God (the creator) created light, the second day God created waters, the atmospheric water and
the oceanic water. On the third day God created dry land and vegetation, and on the forth day he
created the sun and the moon and the stars and planets. On the fifth day God created water creatures
and birds, and on the sixth day he created land animals and man. God creates all this out of nothing
and it takes him six days. He creates all this for the man to rule over and to multiply and for men to in
turn praise him.
The third creation myth is from the Huainanzi and it tells of the great

Avant Garde
Given the question from Tuesday s class, I was interested in applying the Avant Garde theory to
Beowulf. Initially I understood this theory to apply primarily to text that deals with changes in a
culture and conflict between past and current values. With this understanding, I was interested in
analyzing the relationship between the pagan values present in the story before it was recorded in
writing and the Christian values that became incorporated in the epic as it was written. Christian
concepts may have become incorporated by a number of poets as they transferred the piece orally after
Christianity became common in Europe. This idea that Christian and pagan values are a point of
contention within the story is also mentioned on pages 33 and ... Show more content on

The first example that I found is on page 38 of our textbook, lines 91 97, and describes the story of
creation as told by the poets entertaining in Heorot. This reference to Christian concepts would likely
not have been present in the original pagan story. Moving on to lines 100 113, Grendel is described as
an enemy from hell that encompasses evil and was cast out to the land of monsters by the Creator.
Grendel is also described as kindred of Cain and the story of Cain and Abel is briefly described. This
seems to be another example of the incorporation of Christian concepts into the story. On page 40,
lines 174 192 the conflict between Christian and pagan values is more apparent as the author tells of
pagan rituals that the characters are preforming and writes (translated) that they know not how to
praise the Prince of Heaven. Jumping to page 65, lines 1269 1273, Beowulf is described as having
called upon the strength and comfort of God to overcome Grendel. Similarly, on lines 2328 2330,
Beowulf believed that he had angered the lord and that the burning of his hall and the surrounding
lands by a dragon was caused by his breaching of ancient law. These ideas of the creator may have
been inserted into the poem in favor of other ideas that contained pagan concepts and were less
relatable to the people of the time. The final example of this mixing of Christian and

The Good Earth Quotes
A Comment Upon the Meaning
Can even the most faithful man forget his morals in extreme circumstance? What does it take for one
to be broken? In Pearl S. Buck s fiction novel, The Good Earth, Wang Lung and his family struggle to
survive the hardships of rural 1930 s China. With their lives at stake, a plethora of decisions will test
Wang Lung s physical and mental state. Commented upon as, A comment upon the meaning and
tragedy of life as it is lived in any age in any quarter of the globe, by the New York Times, The Good
Earth is a highly distinctive, yet undeniably relatable tale of prosperity and tragedy.
Unlike its fairy tale counterparts, The Good Earth is not a story of endless success. Wang Lung, the
protagonist, receives more than his share of downs, both in and out of his control. Early in the novel,
famine strikes Wang Lung s town, leaving him with no option but to drag his family to the South.
With Wang Lung as the host of the leech that is the famine, he feels that he will never return to his old
life. Not unlike readers themselves, Wang Lung wants nothing but the best for his family. To readers,
it is only understandable and inevitable that in these circumstances, it is bound for extreme actions to

such a theft, a soon to be hypocritical action. Wang Lung himself is led to success through theft, a
realistically plausible and tempting solution to all of Wang Lung s

The New World
After settlement of The New World by the English in the early 17th century, there was a surge of
Englishmen hoping to strike rich, escape the religious government of England, or start a new life with
their family. Specific reasons for leaving England had its respective colonies to travel to. For this
reason, the northern New England colonies and the southern colonies like Virginia and Maryland in
the Chesapeake bay area started to establish ways of life that began to develop very different
lifestyles. The reasoning behind the foundation of each colony is what created such a substantial
amount of difference between two areas of English settlement.
Following the defeat of the Spanish armada, England finally had the power to venture out to the
Americas after hearing about a century s worth of Spanish success in that region themselves. Single
Englishmen in search of wealth began to sail to America, and did not find the gold they were
searching for. It was not until the success from the crop tobacco, did anyone in Virginia prosper. This
set the stage for a huge colony with an economy relying on large plantations of this new staple crop.
The many who sought out the Massachusetts bay colony in New England were likely not going to
strike rich on a plantation, but to either escape the English Church, or to start a new life for their
family. The Massachusetts bay colony was founded by Puritans who wanted to fix, or purify, the
English church and for this reason, were also very

My First Year Of College
Senior year in high school, I thought I had everything figured out. At the time, I was in a program
called PSEO where I was able to go to college while I was in high school. Being a first generation
college student I didn t know how serious this first year of college would affect the rest of my college
career. I should have taken that first year seriously. I thought that I would graduate high school and
attend a 4 year university and graduate to go to optometry school. As a planning type, I had everything
in place. Until my cousin s grandma passed away, I grew up with them living a walking block away. I
was shocked and reflected on my life that I have planned out for myself. After graduating high school
packed up my things and headed out west to San Jose, California to move in with my grandparents. I
wanted to spend as much time with them while I attended a local community college called DeAnza. I
was surrounded by people who could care less about anyone else but themselves. I didn t fit, but I
stayed to be with my grandparents for the rest of the quarter. As the quarter went by so did my bank
account, I had no option but to go home to Minnesota. Once I got back to Minnesota I got a job of
being an optometric technician working side by side with the doctor. After 6 months of working there
I could not see myself as an optometrist. I attended Normandale Community College temporarily until
I knew what my next steps would be but I ended up leaving Normandale with an Associate

Different Types Of Biobanks Depending On Their Research Goals
Humans have been studying diseased remains for centuries and collecting and maintaining donated
samples for more than a hundred years (Westfall et al 36). Today these places are called biobanks.
Biobanks are institutes that collects and maintains donated samples of human blood, tissues, and any
other collectable genetic material for the purpose of research (Westfall et al 37). At first biobanks were
small and collected samples for specific study purposes. Records were kept in a notebook and
specimens were stored in a few small freezers. Today s biobanks have thousands of specimens, which
are recorded electronically and linked together through the Internet. This web interface connection
allows researchers to search hundreds of biobanks and request specific samples for their research (De
Souza and Greenspan 2). There are many different types of biobanks depending on their research
goals. For example the United States, Iceland, United Kingdom, Sweeden, and Japan have population
based biobanks which collects, records, and studies samples from participants in their population to
study what possible diseases are occurring among their citizens. Other biobanks include genetic,
disease, and virtual biobanks (Westfall et al 36). One of the first cases to present ethical concerns of
biobanks involved a woman named Henrietta Lacks. She was at Johns Hopkins Hospital for cancer
treatments. During this time her cancerous cells were surgically removed and examined. This

Big Fish Reflection
Edward Bloom was a story teller. He would tell elaborate stories to his son since he was born. Not
only were the stories exciting, they were told to bring life and excitement into Edwards life. Growing
up, William enjoyed his father s stories. As time goes on, the stories began to become more and more
uneventful and less entertaining. This was because William has heard the same stories his whole life.
He did not know what was true and what was fake. On his death bed, Edward reconnects with William
by getting him to see that he was not lying his whole life, just telling his life story in a much more
interesting way. Yes, some details were changed but that does not mean they were all lies. William just
did not see that until the end.
Big fish tells a story of adventure, love, life and death. Edward loved his family most of all. He let you
know many time throughout the film. What stuck out the most to me was when he finished
remodeling Jennifer s house. Jen came on to him. The love he had for his wife truly showed through
when he rejected her affection. This shows, how that the head of the family loves more than anything:
his wife and only son (Vega). At a young age, Will didn t have the relationship with his father that he
wanted. This was because Edward was often gone for periods of time, traveling and working. Upon
Edwards return, he would tell Will stories of his travels and adventures. To this end, William was not
able to tell if his dads stories were true or not.

Gender Roles In Colonial America
Gender Roles in Colonial America
Gender Roles were very important in Colonial America. Nowadays, young women are taught that they
could grow up and be whatever they want but it wasn t always this way. In Colonial times women
were limited in what they could do or even say. Although they had limitations, without the roles they
played many people wouldn t have survived. Gender Roles were passed from generation to generation
with many limitations for women. Despite these limitations, many women were comfortable in their
roles. The lifestyles of these women have directly impacted today s society in the form of the feminist
movement.

On the contrary, some argue that women not only felt fulfilled by their roles in Colonial America, but
they even enjoyed them. They were not as impotent as they are made out to be. Without a higher
understanding of the Puritan culture, misconceptions have been made about the treatment of women.
Many women enjoyed their household tasks and cherished their time spent caring for children. Post
1960s feminism has painted these women as miserable, oppressed, and discriminated against. In her
essay Leora Hall highlights a fact that many people may not know, Women were also not required to
submit to all men. A woman was only called to submit to the decisions made by her own husband,
(Understanding Puritan Womanhood in Feminist America). Submission was a common Puritan belief.
The submission of a wife was apart of the divine will. The submission of a wife was to honor her
husband s role as the leader of the house, not to demean her or treat her as a slave. Puritan
relationships were built on love, which most often stems from respect. There were no arranged
marriages and couples courted before marriage. Courtship helped the couple test the relationship and
see if it had the potential to last. Most puritan women respected and loved their husbands deeply,
making it no problem for them to submit to them. Many say that Anne Bradstreet was among these
women. Her poem To My Dear and Loving Husband shows the depth of her love and admiration for
her

  • 2. Egyptian Devil Disease Tasmanian Devils are small marsupials that possess rat like features such as sharp teeth, black or brown fur and are roughly 20 to 31 inches tall. These creatures possess poor temperament, growling, baring teeth and lunging when provoked or under threat. Because of their aggressive behavior, they are solitary creatures, only interacting with one another during the mating seasons of March. They give birth to up to 20 young during this time, however the female as only four teats, meaning only four of the imps can survive. The general lifespan of a Tasmanian devil is 5 6 years, and within that time the devils feed on birds, snakes, fish and carrion (quite often road kill on roads). They live in small dens or old wombat burrows and are nocturnal, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many scientists have expressed their own opinions, but none have been found to be officially accurate on the matter. Many researchers including A M Pearse, K.Swift, after much research, came to the conclusion that DFTD spread through Allograft, the means of cancerous cells spread from one animal to another through physical interactions such as biting, fighting or mating. This process of spreading is much like that of a transplant, and once the cancer cell has entered the devil s body, it develops the mechanism to go through and resist the attacks of the immune system. For this particular reason, a proper vaccine as not been discovered yet and the Tasmania devils have no actual cure to save them from this widespread disease. The Allograft theory has not been confirmed to be the case yet as it does not apply to the rules of normal cancerous cells and diseases sparked from those cells. However, once more information regarding this cancerous disease has been established, scientists can work towards finding some form of medical treatment for the devils. Having said that, more scientific mechanisms to save the devils has been proposed, including one of which may be what saves the Tasmanian Devils. In recent years, an authorized project known as the Maria Island Devil Translocation has taken place, and already has produced results and statistics that look promising for the Tasmanian Devil s species. The Maria Island project, which started in 2012, is a rehabilitation program that selects both wild and captive devils and places them on Maria Island, a small island located off to the east of Tasmania. Maria Island is a land free of DFTD due to Tasmanian devils not being a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since the operating income boost from 562 in 2009 to 1728.5 in 2011 and the sales just increases from 9774.6 to 11700.4, the net profit margin of Starbucks increases from 4% in 2009 to 10.65% in 2011. The differences mean that by considering the costs and expenses, Starbucks become more profitable in 2011. It generates 10.65 cents in net income for every dollar in sales in 2011. 6. The current ratio of Starbucks in 2011 increases to 1.83 times from 1.29 times in 2009. To a creditor, higher current ratio means he can get his money more quickly. To the Starbucks, higher current ratio means an inefficient use of cash and other short term asset. Thus, Starbucks had more net working capital and was less efficient in using short term assets in 2011 than it was in 2009 and 2010. 7. The debt assets ratio of Starbucks decreases 4.61% from 2009 to 2011. The main reason for this change is not the decrease in debt but the increase in total assets. The number of available for sale securities, inventories and cash and cash equivalents increase 3900.77%, 145.25% and 191.41%, respectively. To creditors, lower debt assets ratio means they can get their money back with less risk. To shareholders, lower debt assets ratio indicates that on one hand, Starbucks has lower risk to repay the money to its creditors and lower interest expense; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay about The Zebra Mussel Populations of the zebra mussel, Dreissena polymorpha (Pallas), were first found in the Laurentian Great Lakes in 1988 (Hebert et al., 1989). This species is native to the Caspian, Aral, and Black Seas and the rivers that drain into them but has spread throughout Europe, principally during the 18th century. Since it is restricted to estuarine and freshwater habitats, it is presumed that it was introduced into North America by ballast waters of transoceanic vessels. Based on the substantial amount of genetic variation found in these initial populations, as estimated from electrophoretic variation of allozymes, the colonization of the Great Lakes was by a large number of immigrants and not just a few founders ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This blockage can result in heat damage to power plants and necessitates costly removal or replacement of intake pipes (Minchin and Moriarty, 1998). Colonization by zebra mussels has devastating ecological impacts on native bivalves (Mackie, 1991; Haag et al., 1993), frequently driving them to local extinction. Zebra mussels readily, perhaps preferentially, settle on native bivalves and eventually cover them over. They filter the water so efficiently that they can lower the amount of suspended food organisms below levels needed to sustain native unionids. Their success in spreading rapidly and colonizing new areas is due to two features of zebra mussel biology. Firstly, zebra mussels produce large numbers ( gt; 30,000 per female) of planktotrophic veliger larvae which can survive for 10 15 days (Hebert et al., 1989). Such larvae are well suited for efficient dispersal by water currents, especially in riverine systems. Additionally, they don t require the presence of suitable host species of fish, as do native unionid larvae. Secondly, the spread of zebra mussels is aided by their ability to attach to objects by byssal threads (the same ability that leads to their fouling problems). Because of this ability, adult zebra mussels can attach to and be spread by ships, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A case study of two organizations of different scale in Asia By Raveenderen Ramamoothie Strategy execution is a topic of practical importance and its success depends on how an organization integrates and aligns the business units and the employee performance to the strategic goals of the organization. However, many organizations find that their strategic goals realization is not optimized. One of the key issues is that the strategy and the performance goals of an organization are often disconnected with the performance management platform, a function of the strategic HR in managing employee performance. • 8. An Analysis Of Robert Stam s Time And The City Both literature and cinema have the ability to emotionally engage its audience not just through the language and visuals but through the poetics created from it. While literature focuses on precise language and structuring, film can also make use of various mediums to build on a theme. Many of the poetic themes in both mediums, however, are found in their use of disunity. Robert Stam appropriately describes this power of disunity: Each of the filmic tracks can potentially develop an autonomous temporality entering into complex relations with the other tracks. Film s multitrack nature makes it possible to stage contradiction between music and image... A quoted piece of music, with its own rhythm and continuity can accompany an image track characterized by a different rhythm and continuity. Thus the cinema offers possibilities of disunity and disjunction not immediately available to the novel. The possible contradictions between tracks can become an aesthetic resource. Terence Davies Of Time and the City utilizes this multitrack nature of film. The juxtaposition of music, sounds, and imagery helps elevate the themes and words of Davies. The Folks Who Live on the Hill scene is a good example of visual metaphors through juxtaposition. The black and white montage begins with shots of the elderly in a Liverpool neighborhood. These are then followed by clips of parents nurturing their babies and children in the neighborhood, occasionally showing glimpses of the elderly in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is known by either name because the Battle of Gallipoli featured many different battles and phases that comprised the entirety of the campaign. This engagement began on February 17, 1915 and ended on January 9, 1916. The Allied forces were tasked with attempting to secure the strait. The purpose of this was twofold: first, it provided the Russian Empire with much needed shipping access, and second, it would serve to cut the Ottoman Empire in half. The Allies also planned to capture the capital of the Ottoman Empire during this operation. The British and the French attempted to launch a combined naval offensive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was placed in command of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. Prior to the landings on the Gallipoli peninsula, the general decided to split his forces. As Powles described: The New Zealand and Australian Division normally also had two mounted brigades assigned to it, but these had been left in Egypt, as it was believed there would be no requirement or opportunities to use mounted troops on the peninsula. (Powles, 1922) This is an example of accepting prudent risk. However, here, the general made a poor choice because he could have utilized those brigades had they dismounted upon landing. The accounts of why he made this particular decision vary greatly. Some historians believe he did it because he did not have the resources to transport the troops from Egypt to Turkey. Other accounts argue that he did not believe that the enemy merited the extra troops. Regardless of the reason behind the choice, the general did not correctly exercise prudent risk in this case. The landing at Anzac Cove was set to send the 1st Australian Division ashore first. Their task was to establish strong points on Gun Ridge, and the purpose behind this pass the 3rd Infantry Brigade in order to facilitate their capture of the remainder of Gun Ridge. Overall, the recent exploration of alterity ethics complements performativity politics by exploiting the subversive potential of gender identity as well as female identity. For the oppressed individuals, power should be subverted via political strategy guided by the consequences and punishment with the objective of maximizing the good in the society. In other words, performativity politics described by the recent works of Butler takes the form of action consequentialism. Whereas there are artists that represent diverse gender as people of dignity, others represent them with a lot of stereotypes. For instance, most male artists have represented women as money hungry individuals with lavish lifestyle. Consequently, the male rappers have in most cases objectified women and used them to portray their fantasy lifestyle. It is because of this kind of representation that this paper analyses 50 Cents Candy Shop. In this essay I will specifically discuss the societal and cultural values 50 cent portrays through his music and music videos. The essay will also explore the message that 50 Cent delivers to his audience and how it influences their behaviors and values. During his first few albums, 50 Cent portrayed a more Ghetto lifestyle. It is worth mentioning that his popularity was on the rise and therefore, his lifestyle did not reflect the rich lifestyle that he is now. The scenes and his mode of dressing and even lyrics at this time depicted a ghetto glam lifestyle. However, ones he made fortune through music, his lyrics changed and grew with him. Most of his music, lyrics, mode of dressing and even places where he shoots his movie reflects this fact. In his Candy shop, he uses women actors to portray his lavish lifestyle. Any scholar has a vision of what characteristics are inherent to this or that phenomenon. The concept of populism is not an exception. It is one of the most difficult in this respect, as many researchers at different times have used this term to refer to different phenomena: starting from the style of speech and ending with a certain stage of development in the process of modernization of the state. In my paper, the concept of populism is defined by Kurt Weyland as a specific political strategy when the charismatic leader is directly appealing to the masses, populism is best defined as a political strategy through which a personalistic leader seeks or exercises government power based on direct, unmediated, uninstitutionalized support from large numbers of mostly unorganized followers . The concept of populism as a political strategy is usually used in relation to Latin America. This continent has a long history of populism, beginning with the 1930s 1960s, when the first wave of populist regimes was formed (Lazaro Cárdenas in Mexico, Victor Raul Haya de la Torre in Peru, Getulio Vargas in Brazil and Juan Peron in Argentina). Toward the end of XX beginning of XXI century the emergence of new radical populist regimes occurred not only in Latin America but also in Eastern Europe. The First Creation Myth Is The Hindu Version Of Creation The first creation myth is the Hindu version of creation, and it is about the sacrifice of the Man (Purusha), the man with a thousand heads, eyes, and feet. The Man himself is all this, whatever has been and whatever is to be and he is the creator and the one creation comes from. He is sacrificed by the gods and his body makes up the earth. Moving on to lines 100 113, Grendel is described as an enemy from hell that encompasses evil and was cast out to the land of monsters by the Creator. Grendel is also described as kindred of Cain and the story of Cain and Abel is briefly described. This seems to be another example of the incorporation of Christian concepts into the story. On page 40, lines 174 192 the conflict between Christian and pagan values is more apparent as the author tells of pagan rituals that the characters are preforming and writes (translated) that they know not how to praise the Prince of Heaven. • 30. The Good Earth Quotes A Comment Upon the Meaning Can even the most faithful man forget his morals in extreme circumstance? What does it take for one to be broken? In Pearl S. Buck s fiction novel, The Good Earth, Wang Lung and his family struggle to survive the hardships of rural 1930 s China. With their lives at stake, a plethora of decisions will test Wang Lung s physical and mental state. Commented upon as, A comment upon the meaning and tragedy of life as it is lived in any age in any quarter of the globe, by the New York Times, The Good Earth is a highly distinctive, yet undeniably relatable tale of prosperity and tragedy. Unlike its fairy tale counterparts, The Good Earth is not a story of endless success. Wang Lung, the protagonist, receives more than his share of downs, both in and out of his control. Early in the novel, famine strikes Wang Lung s town, leaving him with no option but to drag his family to the South. With Wang Lung as the host of the leech that is the famine, he feels that he will never return to his old life. Not unlike readers themselves, Wang Lung wants nothing but the best for his family. To readers, it is only understandable and inevitable that in these circumstances, it is bound for extreme actions to take place. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Again, another proof relatable reality in the novel; the characters are not perfect and their morals waver in light of new circumstance. However, Wang Lung rebukes his son for such a theft, a soon to be hypocritical action. Wang Lung himself is led to success through theft, a realistically plausible and tempting solution to all of Wang Lung s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. The New World After settlement of The New World by the English in the early 17th century, there was a surge of Englishmen hoping to strike rich, escape the religious government of England, or start a new life with their family. Specific reasons for leaving England had its respective colonies to travel to. For this reason, the northern New England colonies and the southern colonies like Virginia and Maryland in the Chesapeake bay area started to establish ways of life that began to develop very different lifestyles. The reasoning behind the foundation of each colony is what created such a substantial amount of difference between two areas of English settlement. Following the defeat of the Spanish armada, England finally had the power to venture out to the Americas after hearing about a century s worth of Spanish success in that region themselves. Single Englishmen in search of wealth began to sail to America, and did not find the gold they were searching for. It was not until the success from the crop tobacco, did anyone in Virginia prosper. This set the stage for a huge colony with an economy relying on large plantations of this new staple crop. The many who sought out the Massachusetts bay colony in New England were likely not going to strike rich on a plantation, but to either escape the English Church, or to start a new life for their family. The Massachusetts bay colony was founded by Puritans who wanted to fix, or purify, the English church and for this reason, were also very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. My First Year Of College Senior year in high school, I thought I had everything figured out. At the time, I was in a program called PSEO where I was able to go to college while I was in high school. Being a first generation college student I didn t know how serious this first year of college would affect the rest of my college career. I should have taken that first year seriously. I thought that I would graduate high school and attend a 4 year university and graduate to go to optometry school. As a planning type, I had everything in place. Until my cousin s grandma passed away, I grew up with them living a walking block away. I was shocked and reflected on my life that I have planned out for myself. After graduating high school packed up my things and headed out west to San Jose, California to move in with my grandparents. I wanted to spend as much time with them while I attended a local community college called DeAnza. I was surrounded by people who could care less about anyone else but themselves. I didn t fit, but I stayed to be with my grandparents for the rest of the quarter. As the quarter went by so did my bank account, I had no option but to go home to Minnesota. Once I got back to Minnesota I got a job of being an optometric technician working side by side with the doctor. After 6 months of working there I could not see myself as an optometrist. I attended Normandale Community College temporarily until I knew what my next steps would be but I ended up leaving Normandale with an Associate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Different Types Of Biobanks Depending On Their Research Goals Humans have been studying diseased remains for centuries and collecting and maintaining donated samples for more than a hundred years (Westfall et al 36). Today these places are called biobanks. Biobanks are institutes that collects and maintains donated samples of human blood, tissues, and any other collectable genetic material for the purpose of research (Westfall et al 37). At first biobanks were small and collected samples for specific study purposes. Records were kept in a notebook and specimens were stored in a few small freezers. Today s biobanks have thousands of specimens, which are recorded electronically and linked together through the Internet. This web interface connection allows researchers to search hundreds of biobanks and request specific samples for their research (De Souza and Greenspan 2). There are many different types of biobanks depending on their research goals. For example the United States, Iceland, United Kingdom, Sweeden, and Japan have population based biobanks which collects, records, and studies samples from participants in their population to study what possible diseases are occurring among their citizens. Other biobanks include genetic, disease, and virtual biobanks (Westfall et al 36). One of the first cases to present ethical concerns of biobanks involved a woman named Henrietta Lacks. She was at Johns Hopkins Hospital for cancer treatments. During this time her cancerous cells were surgically removed and examined. This examination ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Big Fish Reflection Edward Bloom was a story teller. He would tell elaborate stories to his son since he was born. Not only were the stories exciting, they were told to bring life and excitement into Edwards life. Growing up, William enjoyed his father s stories. As time goes on, the stories began to become more and more uneventful and less entertaining. This was because William has heard the same stories his whole life. He did not know what was true and what was fake. On his death bed, Edward reconnects with William by getting him to see that he was not lying his whole life, just telling his life story in a much more interesting way. Yes, some details were changed but that does not mean they were all lies. William just did not see that until the end. Big fish tells a story of adventure, love, life and death. Edward loved his family most of all. He let you know many time throughout the film. What stuck out the most to me was when he finished remodeling Jennifer s house. Jen came on to him. The love he had for his wife truly showed through when he rejected her affection. This shows, how that the head of the family loves more than anything: his wife and only son (Vega). At a young age, Will didn t have the relationship with his father that he wanted. This was because Edward was often gone for periods of time, traveling and working. Upon Edwards return, he would tell Will stories of his travels and adventures. To this end, William was not able to tell if his dads stories were true or not. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nowadays, young women are taught that they could grow up and be whatever they want but it wasn t always this way. In Colonial times women were limited in what they could do or even say. Although they had limitations, without the roles they played many people wouldn t have survived. Gender Roles were passed from generation to generation with many limitations for women. Despite these limitations, many women were comfortable in their roles. The lifestyles of these women have directly impacted today s society in the form of the feminist movement. Gender Roles were forced upon people at a young age. Fathers would teach their sons how to be a man which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the contrary, some argue that women not only felt fulfilled by their roles in Colonial America, but they even enjoyed them. They were not as impotent as they are made out to be. Without a higher understanding of the Puritan culture, misconceptions have been made about the treatment of women. Many women enjoyed their household tasks and cherished their time spent caring for children. Post 1960s feminism has painted these women as miserable, oppressed, and discriminated against. In her essay Leora Hall highlights a fact that many people may not know, Women were also not required to submit to all men. A woman was only called to submit to the decisions made by her own husband, (Understanding Puritan Womanhood in Feminist America). Submission was a common Puritan belief. The submission of a wife was apart of the divine will. The submission of a wife was to honor her husband s role as the leader of the house, not to demean her or treat her as a slave. Puritan relationships were built on love, which most often stems from respect. There were no arranged marriages and couples courted before marriage. Courtship helped the couple test the relationship and see if it had the potential to last. Most puritan women respected and loved their husbands deeply, making it no problem for them to submit to them. Many say that Anne Bradstreet was among these women.
