What Is Willy Loman s Suicide
The play Death of a Salesman, by playwright Arthur Miller, portrays the arrival of a salesman by
the name of Willy Loman (Miller, 1949). Willy Loman is getting older, and after another
unsuccessful sale, he is starting to show his age (Miller, 1949). Willy begins to encounter the
inability to remember events and setting apart past memories from present ones. Willy
throughout the play talks out loud to himself, reliving some scenes from his past; memories of
his two sons growing up and conversations with his wife about his job (Miller, 1949). Willy
Loman is in constant constant conflict with his sons as they each have a different take on what it
means to have lived a successful life. After getting fired, Willy now is at a loss and he begins to
plummet into past memories. By the end of the play, Willy Loman commits suicidein hopes his life
insurance can provide some relief for his family. The story analyzes the rapid loss of one man s
identity and his struggle to accept change in not only himself, but also the change the... Show more

Everyone wants to stay young and beautiful. When individuals are approaching or have reached
their halfway points in their life, they begin to question their life decisions and attempt to make
amends for past mistakes. For example, Willy wanted in the end to make sure there was enough
money left to take care of his wife and sons with whatever future needs they might have since he
was the sole reason for their economic struggles to being with. People want to make the most of
their lives, they want to ensure any pain or struggles they have gone through were worth it. And
when it seems that our struggles were not worth the effort, just like Willy, people often partake in
reminiscing in the past, and/or partake in some activity (alcoholism or drugs) to cope with our
struggles and escape our

How Does Culture Influence American Culture
Every day objects are either put in front of you, or are sitting in front of you. These objects
however do not tend to be jumbled up, especially in the case of library books and grocery store
aisles. When someone walks into the library the books are sorted in a way that are similar of
their genres. For example, fiction books tend to be in one section and non fiction books tend to be
in another. The same sort of organization happens in grocery stores as well; baking items tend to
be in one aisle and alcohol tends to be in another. These sets or organizations are also known as
categorizations. Categorization is something that tends to differ across cultures, especially when
dealing with age and the amount of schooling they have.
One of the main inhibitors for proper categorization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example that Irwin and McLaughlin (1970) studied was the fact that Mano farmers were
better at sorting out the different shapes of rice than Americans (388). Irwin and McLaughlin
(1970) believed that this result was found because the Mano farmers were more inclined to study
the shapes of rice than Americans were, and therefore the Mano farmers would have the upper hand
on categorizing shapes of rice when compared to the Americans (388).
Overall, this research suggests that culture and age can have a major influence on a person s ability
to categorize information and objects. It has been found that the amount of education one has will
determine how they categorize objects into different groups (Greenfield et al., 1966)(387).
Furthermore, the age of a person can have an impact on the ability of categorization skills a
person has (Greenfield et al., 1966)(387). Lastly, the style of culture and the skills they acquire due
to the culture has a major impact on a person s ability to categorize objects into different groups

Respiratory Distress Syndrome Essay
Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is a breathing disorder that affects newborns. RDS rarely
occurs in full term infants. The disorder is more common in premature infants born about 6 weeks
or more before their due dates. It usually develops in the first 24 hours after birth. RDS is more
common in premature infants because their lungs aren t able to make enough surfactant. Surfactant
is a liquid that is produced from the alveolar type two cells and coat the inside of the lungs. It
breaks up the surface tension found within in the alveoli. Without enough surfactant, the alveoli
will stick together and the lungs will collapse, which means the infanthas to work much harder to
be able to breathe. He or she might not be able to breathe in enough oxygen to support the body s
organs. The lack of oxygen can damage the baby s brain and other organs if proper treatment isn t
given. According to an article titled What is the Respiratory Distress Syndrome by the National
Heart, Lung, and Blood Institution, states that In fact, nearly all infants born before 28 weeks of
pregnancy develop RDS (2012, p. 1). This paper will discuss the pathophysiologic problems,...

In adults, there are ventilation strategies such as the pressure control ventilation (PCV) and airway
pressure release ventilation (APVR) that are commonly used. The PCV is designed to prevent
ventilator associated lung injuries. Kacmarek et al. mention that although there is not enough data
showing that this machine improves the outcomes in ARDS, they have been successful in
improving patient comfort (2014, p.615) . Breathing support or oxygen therapies are all designed
to help increase the oxygen flow throughout the body. These machines and types of therapy are
needed since the cardio respiratory system is failing to achieve its primary function, which is to
deliver oxygen to the lungs and in turn the rest of the

Ice Fili Is The Top Ice Cream Company
Case Analysis #1 Questions Case: Ice Fili Introduction Ice Fili is the top ice cream producer in
Russia. Currently, the company is experiencing tough competition with Nestle, Baskin Robbins
and regional ice cream producers. Its loss in market share due to their poor quality decisions
making after Russia became an open marketing in 1992. Nestle took great advantage of Ice Fili s
low reaction adjustment and is taking over their market. 1. Which segments of the general
external environment, if any, are relevant to the Russian ice cream industry? = General external

Russia is a competition where demand for ice cream increase market sales, consumptions,
capitalism, no marketing, Russians buy via Kiosks, college kids like beer, etc. Here are five of
general external environment for Russian ice cream industry: a) Technological Change There
was a dramatic drop in ice cream companies from 1991 to 1992. The output fell to levels last
experienced in the early 1970s. Foreign ice cream companies, including Ben Jerry s, Baskin
Robbins, Nestle, and Unilever, all poured into to Russian market to capitalize on the open market

Child Support Hearing
This week I had the pleasure of sitting in on five hearings. On Monday Magistrate Akel allowed
me to observe a child support hearing where both parties were living in Iowa. The initial order
was given while the couple lived in Florida. When the father moved to Iowa he was ordered to pay
$509.00 dollars a month in child support. The mothersent the child to Iowa to visit his father for a
week but the child never came back to Florida. While the child was in the father s custody he
continued to pay child support to the mother. During the hearing, the father wanted to ensure that
his ex wife placed the money that she owed him into a depository account. The attorney
representing the father pointed out that she was behind in paying him back. The attorney as well as
the father believed that the she was using the money to support her other children. The mother
claimed that all of the money that she owed her ex husband was already in the depository.
Magistrate Akel made sure that the mother was aware that if the money was not there she would be
held in contempt of court.
The next hearing involved timesharing. The mother and father could not agree on a schedule that
was best for the child. The mother was concerned that the father was not bonding enough because

minimum for the crimes he committed were 25 years. His attorney attempted to reduce the sentence

I think what Gatsby feels for Daisy s love is obsession and affection. I think these reasons
because Gatsby does everything to try and impress Daisy. Gatsby bought his house across the
water from Daisy s house so he could see her house and the green light at the end of her dock. He
throws parties just to get her attention but she hasn t even noticed them until one day Gatsby
tells Nick to invite Daisy over for tea. When Daisy got to Nick s house Gatsby ran outside in the
pouring rain to make an appearance and he knocked on the door. As Gatsby walks inside he

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Overdraft Bank Essay
Overdraft bank
An overdraft bank is a short term bank loan where a bank allows a business to temporarily
withdraw more money from its account than it has deposited. In other words, the money is
withdrawn from a bank account and the available balance goes below zero. Overdraft is often
used for emergency situation or to cover shortages. The interest is paid only when the account is
overdrawn and it is calculated on a daily basis based on the balance outstanding at the end of each
business day.
Advantages
There are several advantages of overdraft bank. Firstly, overdraft bank is flexible. Overdrafts allow

One of the disadvantages is the relationship between the suppliers and customers will be affected
because of the bad debts. The suppliers will lose trust if the customers failed to make the
payments within the agreed periods. The customers will have to purchase stocks on cash basis
on the next transaction. The customers will also adopt this bad habit by using trade credit and
may lead to overspending. The customers will end up by purchasing too much of goods using
trade credits if they are not aware of the way they use trade credit. Other than that, if the debtors
unable to make the payment before the due date, more interest rate will be charged on the total
amounts of sales and finally the customers will end up by paying higher costs. The debtors will be
ended up paying extra expenses which the money can be used for other financing purposes. Lastly,
short term finance can be a serious risk for the customers especially for small traders. Trade credit
will increase company s liabilities if the amount of debts has not been settled. This situation will

How Dramtically Affected My Reading Life
1. If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all (by
Oscar Wilde). Originally, I disliked reading, but soon did I realize that the only reason I despised
reading was because I kept reading the wrong type of books. By reading a wide selection of
different types of books this year, it really opened up my eyes. In other words, by reviewing
numerous amount of books, it has impacted me by making me realize that a bookis just more then
thousands of words and hundreds of pages. But instead a story that has dramtically impacted me
and how i can look upon situations. That being said, by reading and viewing many different books,
it has changed my outlook on how I judge relating to reading and books. As previously stated by
reading a lot of books, it has impacted my reading life. What I mean by this is for as long as I could
remember reading was not for me because I would only read very few books and all would bore me
to death. However, the selection of books that I read this year impacted my reading life by
making me way more interested to read on and overall be way more greedy to read. For example,
the book The Dead and The Gone by Susan Beth Pfeffer made me love reading, and also made me

Nietzsche s Genealogy Of Morals
During the late 19th century, Friedrich Nietzsche examined the history of morals in his
Genealogy of Morals. In his work, Nietzsche reveals the origin of morality, and he goes further to
tear down the basis of Christianity and Kant s Moral Law to show that there is a plurality of
conflicting morals in society. Max Weber, who was a philosopher greatly influenced by Nietzsche,
writes further on the plurality declaring that there is a polytheism that is the result of many
conflicting values. Weber concludes that there is no science of ethics after Nietzsche, so there is
no way to determine the correct value system. There is currently polytheism and a plurality of
values that will not be resolved because all values are valid despite them conflicting... Show more

In this new polytheism, conflict rages between different gods, and it will go on for all time. It is
as it was in antiquity before the world had been divested of the magic of its gods and demons,
only in a different sense (Science as a Vocation p. 23). The contemporary polytheism is similar to
the ancient one in that it consists of conflict; however, in neo polytheism, the gods are
impersonal forces. There is no magic or personal gods in this new system. There is just
conflicting value systems where each value system is equally valid. This is a difficult reality for
people to digest due to the blinding strength the Christian church has on people. Christianity led
people to believe that there was only one way to live. Any other value system was wrong in the
eyes of Christians. People will become more aware that there is a plurality of value systems, and
that each set of values can be considered just as valid as the next: The destiny of our culture,
however, is that we shall once again become more clearly conscious of this situation after a
millennium in which our allegedly or supposedly exclusive reliance on the glorious pathos of the
Christian ethic had blinded us to it (Science as a Vocation p. 24). People will learn to move away
from the ethics laid forth by Christianity and, in the face of polytheism, make their own

Impact Of Doublespeak In My Life
Throughout my life I believe that I have experienced quite a lot of doublespeak. The largest
impact of doublespeak was when I was younger and both of my grandma s got cancer. At the age of
around twelve I had no idea what cancer was. The way they spoke of cancer was very evasive,
mostly because they knew that I probably would not be able to handle what cancerwas at my age. I
think that doublespeak was a respectable form of doublespeak because they were not trying to hide
anything they just wanted what was best for my wellbeing in a troubling time. Another form of
doublespeak, which I participated in, happened during my internship this summer. I worked for a

Martin Luther King s Argument Against Affirmative Action
Today s society emphasizes the need of equal opportunities; everyone should have equal chances
despite their race, gender, or other characteristics. However, there are still many barriers and
biases, often unconscious, which do not let to embrace the potential of everyone. Even though
Civil Right Era made a good improvement, because of the long years of legal racismand sexism,
ethnic minority members and women are still disadvantaged by the system. It is obvious that
something should be done about it and one of the ways to reduce inequality is affirmative action.

Martin Luther King Jr. was definitely one of the most influential characters in the history of
equal rights. He was the one who brought world s attention to unequal and unfair treatment of
African Americans. Although he was assassinated before affirmative action was introduced, he
agreed that some actions should be taken in order to reduce inequality: We must come to see
that the roots of racism are very deep in our country, and there must be something positive and
massive in order to get rid of all the effects of racism and the tragedies of racial injustice (King,
1968). For policy to work and to have space for improvement it is extremely important to have
support from the society. Majority of Americans favor affirmative action and the support have
been growing in the past years. Currently, 70% say they favor affirmative action programs, up
from 58% in 1995 (The Pew Research Center, 2009:39). 94% of African Americans favored such
programs and 65% of whites, compared to 53% in 1995, support affirmative action (The Pew
Research Center, 2009:40). Furthermore, sixty five leading Fortune 500 companies (ex. Coca
Cola, Intel, Kraft Foods, Nike, Pepsi, Microsoft, 3M etc.) stated their support for affirmative action
during the court process Grutter v. Bollinger, where Barbara Grutter filed the law suit, claiming
that the University of Michigan Law School denied her admission because school applied race as a
dominant factor in application process. The existence of racial and ethnic diversity in institutions
of higher education is vital to amici s efforts to hire and maintain a diverse workforce, and to
employ individuals of all backgrounds who have been educated and trained in diverse environment
(Brief For Amici Curiae. 65 Leading American Businesses in Support of Respondents, 2003:1).

A Review On Prediction Of Chatter Stability
A REVIEW ON PREDICTION OF CHATTER STABILITY IN HIGH SPEED MILLING
V.Manoj kumar, R.K.Naveen, A.Ragavesh
Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore 22
Abstract: This paper reviews on the various analyzing techniques of chatter stability in high speed
milling. Milling at high spindle speed is an effective technology for processing various materials.
During milling, unstable self excited vibrations known as regenerative chatter can occur, causing
excessive tool wear or failure and a poor surface finish on the machined work piece. There are
several analyzing techniques that are used to increase the stability of the machining process such as,
fuzzy arithmetic techniques, stability lobe diagram(SLD),Structural dynamic modification. Based
on these analyzing techniques how the operating variables are changed to obtain the different
predicted results is studied.
Keywords: chatter, spindle speed.
Introduction: High speed milling is extensively used in manufacturing process. The generation of
complex shapes with high accuracy and quality is the main advantage of milling process. In a real
world setting there are many variables that influence a machining process and each one can carry
small errors or uncertainties, which can lead to major deviations in the finished quality of
fabricated parts. It therefore becomes important to research novel models to account for parameter
uncertainties in order to develop more practical models.

Greeks Roles In Ancient Greek Culture
Ancient Greek culture has many commonalities with modern western culture. They both value an
individualistic society that glorifies intellectual, artistic and athletic prowess. The Greeks highly
valued in developing citizens and attaining glory for oneself. However, like with most of the ancient
cultures at this time, only the men were allowed to take the active roles in society. They
participated in everything from the arts to the military while the women, in contrast, were restricted
to their homes. In consequence, many their myths were frequently about men. In ancient India,
where Hinduism was predominant, the Hindu culture differed significantly from that of the Greeks.
Most of what they stood for was written in sacred scriptures that defined how they should live.

Renewable Energy Vs. Solar Thermal Power Plants
2.1.Introduction The limited resources of non renewable energy and the fluctuation of fuel price
have forced the world to find clean and economical natural energy resources by means of
renewable energy. Solar energy is a sustainable alternative option that can be utilized in various
ways and can be used in many applications. The world has experienced enormous enlargement in
energyand fuel consumption with lacking of energy resources. Moreover, the finite fossil fuel
resource could not cope up with the increasing energy demand. According to the World Health
Organization, air pollution is now the world s largest single environmental health risk. Lately, the
statistics have shown that air pollution is responsible for approximately two million deaths a year
[1].
Conventional power plants are the major source of air pollutions due to toxic emissions such as
carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide. Alternative power plants that work on renewable resources
have been dedicated for this purpose. Different types of renewable energy and solar thermal power
plants will be presented in this chapter.

American Puritanism And American Romanticism
The way people viewed the world changed significantly between the time of American Puritanism

beliefs of the Church. As presented in Arthur Miller s The Crucible, American Puritans feared
challenging the social norm because it would essentially lead to possessing a corrupt society.
American Romanticismideas differed from American Puritanism beliefs. Romanticists emphasized
the power of individuals and believed in valuing feeling and intuition over reason. As opposed to
American Puritans, Romanticists believed in seeking nature and objecting the artificiality of
civilization. American Romanticism literary works impact society because it enforces the
importance of human imagination, the importance of seeking nature, and the importance of valuing

Benefits Of A New Electric Model For The Chinese Car Buyers
To increase sales, and help realize Winterkorn s vision, VW invested 18.2 billion euros in
building larger manufacturing facilities to satisfy the demand (Appendix D). Additionally, VW
decided to manufacture new electric models to cater for the Chinese car buyers. Both initiatives
worked fine, until the Chinese economic downturn hit, and VW sales started slowly dwindling
in China. C.For the US Market: Along with China, the US market is considered among the
largest auto markets in the world. Just in 2015, around 7.7 million cars were sold, and 4.35
were locally produced. VW board enlisted the company on a mission to increase its US units
sold to 1 million by 2018 from very modest sales (324,000 vehicles sold) in 2007. The numbers
improved in 2012 reaching 438,145 Vehicles, slipped back down to 366,970 by 2014, and
recovered well up until September 2015. To cater for the US auto market trends, VW invested 1
Billion dollars in an assembling plant in Tennessee to design new sedans. The company also
decided to bring its successful and European designed, BlueTDI Clean Diesel car to the US market.
III.International Growth Strategy Implications The above international strategic moves, required
VW to serve different market segments which have different regulatory compliances, entry barriers
and market trends. It also meant that VW needs to compete strongly against GM in China, ensure
that the European market downturn doesn t slow its growth, and heavily increase its

Primary Sources In O Brien s The Things They Carried
According to the Library of Illinois, primary sources of information are those that provide first
hand accounts of the events, practices, or conditions you are researching. There is no portion about
reliability or the significance of truth within the explanation of a primary historical source. O Brien
s recollection of his first hand experience in the Vietnamwar is a good primary source because
highlights the collective consciousness of America during the war, the collective memory of the
soldiers who fought, and the emotional things they had to carry with them through the remainder of
their lives.
O Brien fought in the war and named his fictional character after himself. It is the truth of his real

In any war story, but especially a true one, it s difficult to separate what happened from what
seemed to happen....The angles of vision are skewed (71). What O Brien thought seemed to have
happened therefore becomes his truth.
All primary sources are subjective; they are based on the source s recollection and how it is
remembered in their own memory. The importance of storytelling is one of the main premises in
the Things They Carried. Telling a story is an illustration of memory, and memory is prejudice.
By telling stories, you objectify your own experience. You separate it from yourself. You pin down
certain truths (158). Each soldier is going to have different memories, but most of their experiences
are so similar they seem to form a universal truth and a collective memory of all their stories.
O Brien s unification of fact and fiction is to illustrate the idea in which the real accuracy of a war
story is less significant than storytelling. The subjective truth about what the war meant and what it
did to change the soldiers is more meaningful than the technical details of the

Aluminum Foil
Kritika fulfilled this student learning objective when Kritika designed and conducted an experiment
in a classroom to make the students understand the insulation properties of several materials and the
heat transfer concept. To perform the experiment, Kritika divided the class into four groups and
circulated a sheet to form a hypothesis based on the students opinion about the best insulator among
the Styrofoam, the cotton balls, the aluminum foil, or none. The students hypothesized that
aluminum foil will be the best insulator. Afterward, Kritika gave a plastic cup to each team and
three groups received different insulating material to place at the bottom of the cup while the last
group performed it without any insulating material keeping the plastic cup as a control.

Animal Rights Philosophy
On the issue of animal rights, Carl Cohen takes on the perspective of a reformist. This means that
he accepts animal experimentation and meat eating, but believes that these institutions need to be
improved upon. Cohen approaches the issue of animal rights using the ideas of obligations and
rights, with not only the reformist perspective, but with the speciesist perspective. The conclusion
he draws is that animals do not necessarily have rights just because humans have moral obligations
to animals. Cohen comes to this conclusion through an analytical series of rights and obligations.
His main argument is the following: (1) Humans do have obligations to animals, (this sets him apart
from abolitionists) (2) not every obligation arises... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I don not agree with Cohen s argument simply because it arises from a bias speciesist standpoint.
Cohen states that humans are autonomous, when at the same time some humans are not
autonomous, and are as independent as pets. So do these humans not have rights? Cohen would
once again respond by using the far fetched theory that animals can not be bearers of rights
because rights is essentially human; it s rooted in, and has a force within, a human moral world.
(Cohen 351) This relates back to Cohen looking at Regan s idea of animals not being moral
because they cannot do right or wrong. Well if moralityis based on the ability to do wrong, then
that doesn t sound like morality at all. We are not granted rights just for being human, and we
certainly are not granted rights for being capable of doing

Descriptive Essay On The Devil
The devil I feared, sat on my lungs so deeply it felt impossible to breath. My knees were
trembling and I could not move. A single tear drop got away from me as it broke the dam wall in
my soul. I just stood there at the edge of the steps, as I watched her slip away to another man
with nothing I could do. 5 sets of eyes watching, joining me in shock. I turned into a completely
empty shell as I stared at the entrance to the Vermeer s house where I kept replaying the recent
events through my head. The house that used to be so full and grand, now seemed so empty to
me. I contemplated why she rejected my proposal and then it appeared clear to me that she lied
about wearing those blue and yellow head clothes so what else had she lied to me about. I had a
slight suspicion that she was to have feelings for the man in the attic, but I thoughtI had pushed that
away with my love and affection. Clearly I was wrong. I felt my strength regain as my sadness
turned to anger. My eyes gazed up at the attack to see him, standing at the window staringdown at
me, he too looking shocked, though much more still than everyone else. How could she do this?
With a flood of hopelessness and anger I turned away from the Vermeer s house and fled like mist
before a radiant day.
I steamed through the market place towards the pub. I couldn t stop the thoughts rushing around in
my head. All sorts of emotions kept stirring up and I didn t know how to feel. Anger, hate, betrayal

Zoo s Efforts to Help Conservation Essay
Since approximately 1250 B.C., ancient Egyptians had created and practiced the capture and
display of animals in what are now known as zoos (Fravel). Records describe such exotic animals
as birds, lions, giraffes, and tigers in captivity (Fravel). Since then, zoos have continued to entertain
millions with the exciting chance to view exotic animals up close and personal. Even in ancient
Greece, exotic animals were on display in fighting arenas, and in enclosed viewing areas.
Originally in America, zoos were just created so that royalty and the wealthy could flaunt their
exotic animals to the public (Leolupus). Today, with speciesthreatened and habitats disappearing
worldwide, zoos are serving a new purpose other than the mere exhibition of... Show more content

Examples of zoos that are well known for such programs include Animal Kingdom in Orlando, the
Oakland Zoo, and the San Diego Zoo. These three have won multiple awards and achievements for
breeding, conservation, and reintroduction of endangered species to their natural habitats. Many
zoos across North America participate in such programs like the Species Survival Plan Program
(SSP), which strives to increase the numbers of endangered species in zoos while ensuring
healthy and self sustaining populations (Traw). According to the Association of Zoos and
Aquariums (AZA), programs like SSP have succeeded in increasing endangered species
populations of many animals, like red wolves, snow leopards, and giant pandas within the last
three decades (Traw). It has been estimated that the AZA has established around 113 SSP s
spanning over 181 endangered species within a variety of zoos worldwide (Traw). Breeding
programs are extremely vital to conservation efforts in zoos; without them, endangered species
would be in serious threat of extinction in their natural habitat. However, these breeding efforts also
have important standards. They make sure to breed the animals responsibly, healthily, and
genetically safe. In some cases, the goal and outcome of breeding programs is the reintroduction of
the animals to their natural habitat, which has a large impact on the recuperation of that animal s
population.Reintroduction is the goal andfinal product of breeding programs.

Threat of Substitution (High to Medium) Threat of substitution does exist for MediaTek because
they are aimed at the 2G mobile phone market, thus consumers can switch at any time to the high
end 3G market. The 3G technology that is offered by many other companies allows consumers to
have a much faster product without having to incur a huge price increase. With customers being
able to switch markets very easily MediaTek does face a relatively high threat of substitution.
Bargaining Power of Suppliers (Low) Bargaining power of suppliers is very low because
MediaTek produces the chipsets themselves and therefore they are the suppliers in the mobile
phone industry. MediaTek is a very well established company, which means they are quite rare in
regards to the supplier industry.
Bargaining Power of Buyers (Medium to Low) MediaTek is one of the only companies who are

power of buyers is relatively low because consumers don t have various other suppliers they can

consumers can easily switch from the low end product which is what MediaTek offers to the high

Chapter 5 Network Layers Questions 3, 5, 8
Chapter 5: Questions 3,4, and 8
9/29/2012
3. What are the parts of TCP/IP and what do they do? Who is the primary user of TCP/IP?
TCP/IP has two parts. TCP is the transport layer protocol that links the application layer to the
network layer. It performs segmenting: breaking the data into smaller PDUs called segments,
numbering them, ensuring each segment is reliably delivered, and putting them in the proper order
at the destination. IP is the network layer protocol and performs addressing and routing. IP
software is used at each of the intervening computers through which the message passes; it is IP
that routes the message to the final destination. The TCP software needs to be active only at the
sender and the receiver, because TCP ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Network layer addresses and application layer addresses go hand in hand, so the same standards
group usually assigns both (e.g., www.indiana.edu at the application layer means 129.79.78.4 at the
network layer). It is possible to have several application layer addresses for the same computer.
8. What is a subnet mask? A subnet allows the flow of a network traffic between hosts to be
segregated based on a network configuration. The most recognizeable aspect of subnetting is the
subnet mask. Like IP addresses , a subnet mask contains 4 bytes (32 bits)and is often written
using the same dotted decimal notation. For example, a very common subnet mask in its binary
representation 11111111 11111111 11111111 00000000 is typically shown in the equivalent, more
readable form 255.255.255.0 A subnet mask neither works like an IP address, nor does it exist
independently from them. Instead, subnet masks accompany an IP address and the two values
work together. Applying the subnet mask to an IP address splits the address into two parts, an
extended network address and a host address. For a subnet mask to be valid, its left most bits
must be set to 1 . For example, 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 is an invalid subnet mask
because the leftmost bit is set to 0 . Conversely, the rightmost bits in a valid subnet mask must

Killer Whales In Zoos
The Blackfish Phase has come into play in today s Zoos and aquariums. Sounds pretty
inexplicable right? If truth be told, it s not very convoluted whatsoever. It associates with the king
or regal of all black fish known as the killer whale. The killer whale is undergoing a phase of
being isolated from today s prominent zoos such as SeaWorld, but that s not the only dilemma that
has ensued. Excuding killer whalesin zoos ,doing to their behavior, has prompted other zoos to
supervene this situation and are considering abstracting not just killer whales, but any animal that
appears to create only insufficient danger to the tourist at their zoos and also the animal trainers
there as well. The deal is that people have acknowledged this happening in many different forms.
Some believe that all zoos should be ceased and no longer thriving because they are convinced that
no animals should be put in any sort of containment and that all species should flourish in... Show

Effects Of Social Media On Mental Health
Effects of social media on mental health Overview Social media is described, by the Merriam
Webster dictionary (2015), as forms of electronic communication (as Web sites for social
networking and microblogging) through which users create online communities to share
information, ideas, personal messages, and other content (as videos) . As few as 10 years ago
the term social media was yet to be coined, but within that decade the use of these blogs,
websites and sharing platforms has increased exponentially with no plateau in sight. From
creating Instagram accounts for household pets, to sharing Halloween themed baking ideas over
Pinterest, people today have access to social media outlets for almost everything. Today about
74% of people ages 18 65 use some form of a social networking site (Pew, 2014). Facebook takes
the lead in social media usage with about 71% of those adults. LinkedIn and Pinterest are tied for
second at 28% of users, 26% use Instagram, and Twitter falls last in the top 5 most used social
medias with 23% of users (Pew, 2014). In September of 2013 the Pew Research Center measured
that 90% of adults ages 18 29 used these social media outlets on a daily basis, which is an
astonishing increase from the 9% that was measured in February 2005 (Pew, 2014). Due to the fact
that young adults are increasingly involving themselves in these online platforms, it is very
important to understand the long term and psychological effects (such as depression, social anxiety,

Case Study Of The Securities And Exchange Commission
Case Study Examination and Ethical Questions The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
imposes regulations on individuals and companies to ensure compliance with federal laws.
Among the laws imposed by the SEC is the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), which
prohibits bribes to foreign officials for the purpose of gaining or retaining business (SEC, 2016).
While Con Way, Inc. did not directly violate this act, it failed to ensure its subsidiary complied.
Furthermore, it failed to implement internal controls over said subsidiary which prevented the
detection of the FCPA violations. Case Study: Con Way Inc. Con Way, Inc. is an international
freight forwarding organization incorporated in Delaware, and headquartered in San Mateo,
California. Among its subsidiaries from 1989 through 2004 were Menlo Forwarding and Emery
Transnational. While Menlo Forwarding was headquartered in Redwood City, California, Emery
Transnational was a Philippines based subsidiary (Mintz Morris, 2014). The violations of the FCPA
by Con way, Inc. occurred within Emery. Con Way s failure to implement proper internal
accounting controls resulted in the violations going undiscovered until 2003 when steps were
finally taken to improve internal reporting requirements. As the FCPA distinguishes between
facilitating payments and the more serious issues such as bribery, any subsequent penalties for
violating the act make perfect sense from an ethics standpoint. Bribery in and of itself is an

Mann family perform were the songs they performed with Kirk Franklin and the Family and the
popular ones that play on the radio. I glanced around the auditorium and it appeared to a full house.
The audiencehad several nationalities ready to enjoy a night of gospel music. There was a deejay
table off to the side entertaining the crowd as everyone arrived at their seats. The stage had band
instruments towards the back of the stage with a deejay table in front of them. The lights were
beautiful; they displayed various scenes and sceneries throughout the show. First to arrive on
stage was David Mann Jr. He walked out and headed towards the deejay tables that were center
stage. His energy and music selections pumped the crowd up and had everyone ready to party.
The lights on the stage had a party appearance and holograms of a dancer. As the lights begin to
flash a different color I anxiously waited for the next song to start. He played all the family reunion
and cookout party hits such as The Emotions Best of My Love, Carl Carlton s She s a Bad Mama

Disadvantages In my life, disadvantages have been a setback in my path to success. My
advantages have not always overruled them. The worst part of my disadvantages is that I have no
control over them. As I continue to live life, I struggle to overcome my disadvantages and to shine
bright. My biggest disadvantage would be my race. Being an African American in the United States
has always been seen as a negative. From the moment my ancestors were brought to the United
States, they were forced to adjust to European customs. They were slaves, forced to do labor and
were considered property of the white man. Although slavery was abolished, discrimination

Today, the stereotypes of African Americans are put upon me. I am often judged due to my race.
I have been treated intellectually inferior multiple times. People often assume me to be living in
poverty and fatherless. Sometimes, people are suspicious of me due to media and newscasts
displaying African Americans as criminals and dangerous. Due to my color, people even believe
silly things like me having a love for watermelon, grape soda and fried chicken.
Although, none of those things are true about me. As I mentioned, I have a strong sense of
analytical intelligence. I also have an active father in my life who goes

The Modern Gro SS Es Schauspielhaus
The Modern GroГџes Schauspielhaus
Styles of architectural design are always changing. As time progresses, new advancements are
being made to accommodate a mass society and create a utopian design that will provide for the
best possible living standards. The main qualities expressed in modern buildings are how they
strive to replicate the goals and ambitions of their architects and patrons in a way beneficial to
society as a whole. Modernism is a term that was invented in response to the architectural
movement starting around the early 20th century to explain the dramatic changes in both technology
and society. It was mainly in response to the industrial revolution which created urban cities
changing the way people lived and worked. Modern architecture began to experiment with more
modern concepts with buildings adoption more of a machine aesthetic by adding industrially
produced materials. The grand theater GroГџes Schauspielhaus utilizes the style of modernism to
create a building for the people incorporating new technologies to design a space befitting the
changing attitudes of early 20th century German society.
The building GroГџes Schauspielhaus was designed by Hans Poelzig, who had worked as an

The Importance Of Superstitions
There are two types of people in this world, the people who follow superstitions and people that
dont. Superstitions play a big role in today s society to the point where people will go about their
day due to a superstition. If a superstition that told them they were going to have bad luck because
of walking under a ladder, they are probably going to be more likely to believe something that is
not true. An event like this took place in the book ВЁJulius CaesarВЁ when Julius was told to
beware of the ides of march he did not listen. Some say that believing this saying would have
saved his life. However it must be taken into account the other reasons why it could have
happened. In this essay we will analyze and explain on why superstitions are not to be trusted and
followed.
One way superstitions are influencing our lives is people believing certain triggers of good and
bad luck, according to the us news ВЁ25 percent of people in the U.S. say they are very or
somewhat superstitious in generalВЁ (Colino 1). When people see a black cat or a penny on the
wrong side, it is generally associated with bad luck. In reality a perfectly good penny was just
passed up due to ВЁbad luckВЁ. Most of the time its just as harmless as passing up a penny, but
that s not the case with everyone. Sometimes people let superstitions keep them from doing
everyday tasks. This is important because people are letting rumors and myths that have a pretty big

Frida Kahlo was born in Mexico 1907. She was a Mexican artist who painted from the 1920s
until she died in 1954, she liked to paint herself the best, so she is most well known for that. Frida
got into a car accident when she was young that left her injured. Her art reflects her pain, she was
unable to walk properly and in pain throughout the rest of her life. She was super influenced by
surrealism, she didn t like to have her art categorized though, she said that she paints her reality and
not dreams or nightmares. She painted sixty six self portraits that all portray her pain, cultural
identity, heritage, and intense emotion.

or breakthrough that could be beneficial to humans. This makes us question the validity of these
experiments, and if they truly have any benefits. This idea is supported by Dr. Bross , the
director of biostatistics at the Roswell Institute for Cancer Research who states that the conflicting
animal results that have been found have never produced a single advance either in preventing or
in curing cancer (as cited in Carlson, 2012, p. 398). The effort done by the scientists and doctors
who care about people s health and work hard to provide safety for them

Film Analysis Of The Film 12 Angry Men
This essay will explore the Oscar winning United artist film 12 Angry Men directed by Sydney
Lumet; with a thorough evaluation of how successfully the narrative reflects tensions in 1950s
America. 12 Angry Men is renowned for its strong linear narrative and the ability to obtain the
attention of the audience with the use of only one mise en scene. The 1957 courtroom drama was
established around the key theme of Politics and the battle between communism and capitalism in
1950s America; with a traditional Hollywood Narrative being sustained throughout, enabling a
powerful and persuasive style. 12 angry meninitiate with an introductory scene, displaying external
architecture of the New York County Courthouse which sets the scene for the rest of the film by
highlighting the importance of the location. When brought inside, the audience is introduced to the
12 jurors, through a camera pan from right to left, to show their importance as they remain the key
focus for the entirety of the film. With a high camera angle introduction of the main suspect, a
young underprivileged Hispanic boy, whose life depends on the white men who sit before him.
American society
There are many nostalgic ideas of the 1950s that often create images of happiness; not far from
those depicted in blockbusters such as Randal Kleiser s Grease (1959) and Walter Lang s Cheaper
by the Dozen (1950). However, the reality of 1950s America was far from enjoyable. Although the
1950s was filled with consumer

Kurzweil s Transhumanist Memory Uploading Theory
his position at Google grants him incredible legitimacy in the science tech community, Kurzweil s
participation in TED further reinforces his image as an innovation authority in the eyes of the
public. Despite the incredible popularity TED has around the world, it is TED s scrutinized
selection of speakers that enables Kurzweil to enhance his legitimacy in the tech community.
According to ted.com, TED expects its speakers to be individuals who, run the world s most
admired companies and design its best loved products, who, invent world changing devices and
create ground breaking media, and who, collectively, have won every major prize awarded for
excellence, including the Nobel, Pritzker... While McConnell and Kurzweil both employed popular

Despite the fact that we didn t really dive into the conceptual and technical aspects of
Transhumanism and memory transfer through planarian cannibalism, we decipher the social
nuance of how the vain titles of glory and legitimacy can affect the public s and the scientific
community s perception of a particular theory. However, even if the Transhumanist beliefs are at
their peak right now, it is still too early to predict whether this theory will come to a less desirable
end. The technological singularity, whether it is valid or not, is something I am truly looking

Luneta, underwent many changes through out the years. The original structure of the monument
was built in 1820 and was finished in 1913, but due to the war between the Japanese and the
Filipino people, it was damaged and underwent to reconstruction.
The reconstruction was important, for the structure reminds us that once we had a brave hero who
stood out from other through writing. Moreover, the park where the monument lies will always be
a part of the itinerary for historical and educational trips for the reason that important events that
marked our culture and tradition can be seen in this park (Reyes, 2011).
Furthermore, because of the beauty of Rizal Park it today many couples are dating here because it
improved compared to the previous years. Foreigners visit here because it is one of the historical
landmarks in Manila.
As for the said cause, it is understood that the park needs reconstruction from time to time to
preserve the history.

Sustainable Development Of Private Enterprise
The primary objective of these two books is the sustainable development of private enterprise, and
despite fact that they have been in existence for a couple of years since production, the content and
key topics remain extremely pertinent to current arguments about sustainability of the environment,
and climatic change. The commitment made by the two books is best comprehended by viewing
them in connection to the idea of sustainable development.
The two books begin by a thought of sustainability that does not debilitate but rather is perfect and
well matched with capitalism, fully supports it and does not threat a wage labor scheme of
producing products for profit. According to John Ikerd s book Sustainable Capitalism: A Matter of
Common Sense tries to challenge, the inherent lack of sustainability in the neoclassical paradigm. It
also supports a new method for accomplishing maintainable capitalism. According to Ikerd (2005),
neoclassical economic matters are the reason behind the absence of sustainability in the United
States agricultural sector, and the broader American economy. Along these lines, he attempts to
build up other economics of sustainability in view of standards of living frameworks that are self
sufficient and fit for regeneration. Ikerd (2005) he claims that sustainability is considered to be the
most obvious aspect by those firmly associated with the earth (on the same page) for which, in his
view, he is appropriately qualified, having been brought up

Jed, a 38 year old welder, enrolled in the treatment center after his arrest resulting from drunken
driving (DUI/DWI) (National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, n.d.). His lawyer has
advised him to stop drinking and get treatment until his trial date, which is in approximate two
months. Jed does not believe that he will serve any jail time, but feels that treatment could help

This would be accompanied by the reconstruction of the current problems, the alcohol and
substance use history, life history and retrieval relapse history. Through the reconstruction and
presentation of problems, the now and here issues that stand to cause immediate threat to sobriety
can be pinpointed and crisis plans developed to resolve such issues.
Step 3: Relapse Education
Relapsers have to be familiar with the relapse process and the best ways to manage it. Involving
the family and other sponsors is a great idea. The education should strive to emphasize four main
messages: First, relapse is an ordinary and a natural process in the recovery out of the chemical
dependence. One should not be ashamed of it like in the case of Jed who gets jumpy when he
tries to stay away from drinking, feeling closed in or like he is suffocating . He also cannot
imagine how to explain to his buddies why he is not joining them in the bars. Secondly, people are
not all of a sudden taken drunk. There are gradual warning sign patterns that indicate they are
slowly cropping in again. Such signs can only be recognized when one is sober. Thirdly, after they
are identified, the recovering individuals

Western Influence on Japan
Japan, as a nation, is a continually changing society. Ever since western nations became involved

was initiated by the Japanese themselves, beginning during the
Meiji Period1 through current times. As time increases, Japan is slowly becoming more

Western involvement began in Japan during the late 1800 s. The Meiji dynasty helped to carry it

California s telegraphs.10 Many
Japanese women started to wear western dresses or even sweaters and slacks.11 Japan changed
politically as well. Japan became divided up into
47 profectures, which are similar to American states. Japan has carried over America s
democratic ideas of social freedom, economic independence, and democratic liberties and
privileges Japan s government soon began the executive, legislative, and judicial branches seen
in America seen after the war.13 These changes all became possible soon after the war with great
financial aid from the Us.14 Japan s progress in America s modernization program was so fast, we
had to begin recognizing Japan as a world power.15
After Japan s modernization program, Japanese life began to change less dramatically, but never
stopped. Within recent times, many western style appliances and such can be found in Japanese
homes.16 The Japanese schools, based on America s, teach the same things in grade school as
American schools.17 Many of the students are learning in these schools to take English language
courses to help them as they get older.18 Sports today, are shaped similar to America s. Japan has
carried over many sports from America including frisbees, jogging, skateboarding19, and

  • 2. What Is Willy Loman s Suicide The play Death of a Salesman, by playwright Arthur Miller, portrays the arrival of a salesman by the name of Willy Loman (Miller, 1949). Willy Loman is getting older, and after another unsuccessful sale, he is starting to show his age (Miller, 1949). Willy begins to encounter the inability to remember events and setting apart past memories from present ones. Willy throughout the play talks out loud to himself, reliving some scenes from his past; memories of his two sons growing up and conversations with his wife about his job (Miller, 1949). Willy Loman is in constant constant conflict with his sons as they each have a different take on what it means to have lived a successful life. After getting fired, Willy now is at a loss and he begins to plummet into past memories. By the end of the play, Willy Loman commits suicidein hopes his life insurance can provide some relief for his family. The story analyzes the rapid loss of one man s identity and his struggle to accept change in not only himself, but also the change the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everyone wants to stay young and beautiful. When individuals are approaching or have reached their halfway points in their life, they begin to question their life decisions and attempt to make amends for past mistakes. For example, Willy wanted in the end to make sure there was enough money left to take care of his wife and sons with whatever future needs they might have since he was the sole reason for their economic struggles to being with. People want to make the most of their lives, they want to ensure any pain or struggles they have gone through were worth it. And when it seems that our struggles were not worth the effort, just like Willy, people often partake in reminiscing in the past, and/or partake in some activity (alcoholism or drugs) to cope with our struggles and escape our ... • 3. How Does Culture Influence American Culture Every day objects are either put in front of you, or are sitting in front of you. These objects however do not tend to be jumbled up, especially in the case of library books and grocery store aisles. When someone walks into the library the books are sorted in a way that are similar of their genres. For example, fiction books tend to be in one section and non fiction books tend to be in another. The same sort of organization happens in grocery stores as well; baking items tend to be in one aisle and alcohol tends to be in another. These sets or organizations are also known as categorizations. Categorization is something that tends to differ across cultures, especially when dealing with age and the amount of schooling they have. One of the main inhibitors for proper categorization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One example that Irwin and McLaughlin (1970) studied was the fact that Mano farmers were better at sorting out the different shapes of rice than Americans (388). Irwin and McLaughlin (1970) believed that this result was found because the Mano farmers were more inclined to study the shapes of rice than Americans were, and therefore the Mano farmers would have the upper hand on categorizing shapes of rice when compared to the Americans (388). Overall, this research suggests that culture and age can have a major influence on a person s ability to categorize information and objects. It has been found that the amount of education one has will determine how they categorize objects into different groups (Greenfield et al., 1966)(387). Furthermore, the age of a person can have an impact on the ability of categorization skills a person has (Greenfield et al., 1966)(387). Lastly, the style of culture and the skills they acquire due to the culture has a major impact on a person s ability to categorize objects into different groups (Irwin and McLaughlin, ... • 4. Respiratory Distress Syndrome Essay Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is a breathing disorder that affects newborns. RDS rarely occurs in full term infants. The disorder is more common in premature infants born about 6 weeks or more before their due dates. It usually develops in the first 24 hours after birth. RDS is more common in premature infants because their lungs aren t able to make enough surfactant. Surfactant is a liquid that is produced from the alveolar type two cells and coat the inside of the lungs. It breaks up the surface tension found within in the alveoli. Without enough surfactant, the alveoli will stick together and the lungs will collapse, which means the infanthas to work much harder to be able to breathe. He or she might not be able to breathe in enough oxygen to support the body s organs. The lack of oxygen can damage the baby s brain and other organs if proper treatment isn t given. According to an article titled What is the Respiratory Distress Syndrome by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institution, states that In fact, nearly all infants born before 28 weeks of pregnancy develop RDS (2012, p. 1). Originally, I disliked reading, but soon did I realize that the only reason I despised reading was because I kept reading the wrong type of books. By reading a wide selection of different types of books this year, it really opened up my eyes. In other words, by reviewing numerous amount of books, it has impacted me by making me realize that a bookis just more then thousands of words and hundreds of pages. • 12. Nietzsche s Genealogy Of Morals During the late 19th century, Friedrich Nietzsche examined the history of morals in his Genealogy of Morals. In his work, Nietzsche reveals the origin of morality, and he goes further to tear down the basis of Christianity and Kant s Moral Law to show that there is a plurality of conflicting morals in society. Max Weber, who was a philosopher greatly influenced by Nietzsche, writes further on the plurality declaring that there is a polytheism that is the result of many conflicting values. Weber concludes that there is no science of ethics after Nietzsche, so there is no way to determine the correct value system. In this new polytheism, conflict rages between different gods, and it will go on for all time. It is as it was in antiquity before the world had been divested of the magic of its gods and demons, only in a different sense (Science as a Vocation p. 23). The contemporary polytheism is similar to the ancient one in that it consists of conflict; however, in neo polytheism, the gods are impersonal forces. There is no magic or personal gods in this new system. There is just conflicting value systems where each value system is equally valid. This is a difficult reality for people to digest due to the blinding strength the Christian church has on people. Christianity led people to believe that there was only one way to live. Any other value system was wrong in the eyes of Christians. People will become more aware that there is a plurality of value systems, and that each set of values can be considered just as valid as the next: The destiny of our culture, however, is that we shall once again become more clearly conscious of this situation after a millennium in which our allegedly or supposedly exclusive reliance on the glorious pathos of the Christian ethic had blinded us to it (Science as a Vocation p. 24). Even though Civil Right Era made a good improvement, because of the long years of legal racismand sexism, ethnic minority members and women are still disadvantaged by the system. He was the one who brought world s attention to unequal and unfair treatment of African Americans. Although he was assassinated before affirmative action was introduced, he agreed that some actions should be taken in order to reduce inequality: We must come to see that the roots of racism are very deep in our country, and there must be something positive and massive in order to get rid of all the effects of racism and the tragedies of racial injustice (King, 1968). For policy to work and to have space for improvement it is extremely important to have support from the society. Majority of Americans favor affirmative action and the support have been growing in the past years. Currently, 70% say they favor affirmative action programs, up from 58% in 1995 (The Pew Research Center, 2009:39). 94% of African Americans favored such programs and 65% of whites, compared to 53% in 1995, support affirmative action (The Pew Research Center, 2009:40). • 16. A Review On Prediction Of Chatter Stability A REVIEW ON PREDICTION OF CHATTER STABILITY IN HIGH SPEED MILLING V.Manoj kumar, R.K.Naveen, A.Ragavesh Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore 22 Abstract: This paper reviews on the various analyzing techniques of chatter stability in high speed milling. Milling at high spindle speed is an effective technology for processing various materials. During milling, unstable self excited vibrations known as regenerative chatter can occur, causing excessive tool wear or failure and a poor surface finish on the machined work piece. There are several analyzing techniques that are used to increase the stability of the machining process such as, fuzzy arithmetic techniques, stability lobe diagram(SLD),Structural dynamic modification. Based on these analyzing techniques how the operating variables are changed to obtain the different predicted results is studied. Keywords: chatter, spindle speed. Introduction: High speed milling is extensively used in manufacturing process. The generation of complex shapes with high accuracy and quality is the main advantage of milling process. In a real world setting there are many variables that influence a machining process and each one can carry small errors or uncertainties, which can lead to major deviations in the finished quality of fabricated parts. It therefore becomes important to research novel models to account for parameter uncertainties in order to develop more practical models. During ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Benefits Of A New Electric Model For The Chinese Car Buyers To increase sales, and help realize Winterkorn s vision, VW invested 18.2 billion euros in building larger manufacturing facilities to satisfy the demand (Appendix D). Additionally, VW decided to manufacture new electric models to cater for the Chinese car buyers. Both initiatives worked fine, until the Chinese economic downturn hit, and VW sales started slowly dwindling in China. C.For the US Market: Along with China, the US market is considered among the largest auto markets in the world. Just in 2015, around 7.7 million cars were sold, and 4.35 were locally produced. VW board enlisted the company on a mission to increase its US units sold to 1 million by 2018 from very modest sales (324,000 vehicles sold) in 2007. The numbers improved in 2012 reaching 438,145 Vehicles, slipped back down to 366,970 by 2014, and recovered well up until September 2015. To cater for the US auto market trends, VW invested 1 Billion dollars in an assembling plant in Tennessee to design new sedans. The company also decided to bring its successful and European designed, BlueTDI Clean Diesel car to the US market. III.International Growth Strategy Implications The above international strategic moves, required VW to serve different market segments which have different regulatory compliances, entry barriers and market trends. O Brien s recollection of his first hand experience in the Vietnamwar is a good primary source because highlights the collective consciousness of America during the war, the collective memory of the soldiers who fought, and the emotional things they had to carry with them through the remainder of their lives. In any war story, but especially a true one, it s difficult to separate what happened from what seemed to happen....The angles of vision are skewed (71). The importance of storytelling is one of the main premises in the Things They Carried. Telling a story is an illustration of memory, and memory is prejudice. By telling stories, you objectify your own experience. You separate it from yourself. You pin down certain truths (158). Each soldier is going to have different memories, but most of their experiences are so similar they seem to form a universal truth and a collective memory of all their stories. O Brien s unification of fact and fiction is to illustrate the idea in which the real accuracy of a war story is less significant than storytelling. This means that he accepts animal experimentation and meat eating, but believes that these institutions need to be improved upon. Cohen approaches the issue of animal rights using the ideas of obligations and rights, with not only the reformist perspective, but with the speciesist perspective. The conclusion he draws is that animals do not necessarily have rights just because humans have moral obligations to animals. Cohen comes to this conclusion through an analytical series of rights and obligations. Cohen states that humans are autonomous, when at the same time some humans are not autonomous, and are as independent as pets. So do these humans not have rights? Cohen would once again respond by using the far fetched theory that animals can not be bearers of rights because rights is essentially human; it s rooted in, and has a force within, a human moral world. (Cohen 351) This relates back to Cohen looking at Regan s idea of animals not being moral because they cannot do right or wrong. TCP/IP has two parts. TCP is the transport layer protocol that links the application layer to the network layer. It performs segmenting: breaking the data into smaller PDUs called segments, numbering them, ensuring each segment is reliably delivered, and putting them in the proper order at the destination. IP is the network layer protocol and performs addressing and routing. IP software is used at each of the intervening computers through which the message passes; it is IP that routes the message to the final destination. It is possible to have several application layer addresses for the same computer. 8. What is a subnet mask? A subnet allows the flow of a network traffic between hosts to be segregated based on a network configuration. The most recognizeable aspect of subnetting is the subnet mask. Like IP addresses , a subnet mask contains 4 bytes (32 bits)and is often written using the same dotted decimal notation. For example, a very common subnet mask in its binary representation 11111111 11111111 11111111 00000000 is typically shown in the equivalent, more readable form 255.255.255.0 A subnet mask neither works like an IP address, nor does it exist independently from them. Instead, subnet masks accompany an IP address and the two values work together. Applying the subnet mask to an IP address splits the address into two parts, an extended network address and a host address. For a subnet mask to be valid, its left most bits must be set to 1 . For example, 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 is an invalid subnet mask because the leftmost bit is set to 0 . Conversely, the rightmost bits in a valid subnet mask must ... Effects Of Social Media On Mental Health Effects of social media on mental health Overview Social media is described, by the Merriam Webster dictionary (2015), as forms of electronic communication (as Web sites for social networking and microblogging) through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content (as videos) . As few as 10 years ago the term social media was yet to be coined, but within that decade the use of these blogs, websites and sharing platforms has increased exponentially with no plateau in sight. From creating Instagram accounts for household pets, to sharing Halloween themed baking ideas over Pinterest, people today have access to social media outlets for almost everything. Today about 74% of people ages 18 65 use some form of a social networking site (Pew, 2014). Facebook takes the lead in social media usage with about 71% of those adults. Ghost Spuds used the Need for Affiliation because of them telling the audience that the man is missing a great time and could possibly lose his friends because of him deciding to stay home and not go out to drink Bud Light. Ghost Spuds does use ethos because of the appeals it has to what the world is interested in now. Frida got into a car accident when she was young that left her injured. Her art reflects her pain, she was unable to walk properly and in pain throughout the rest of her life. She was super influenced by surrealism, she didn t like to have her art categorized though, she said that she paints her reality and not dreams or nightmares. The middle ground has a whole bunch of gray pipes and metal in a dirty and dead looking background. The sky is by a horizon covered in skyscrapers. Smokestacks exhaust fumes by the American flag. The name Ford is written across these factory chimneys. The American side looks unhealthy and polluted, a place you wouldn t want to necessarily go to. It s pretty obvious she preferred Mexico over the United States. The left half of the painting is covered in nature and other beautiful things, this side is of course her interpretation of Mexico. The sky has two clouds, one with a sun that in my opinion looks unnecessarily sad, and a moon, with a similar distraught. There are a lot of plants on the ground by Frida s feet. Cacti, flowers, some not even bloomed yet, but all are extremely beautiful. On the dark brown, healthy ground there is two mini fertility statues, surrounded by rubble and a stone skeleton s head. The horizon has a big Mexican pyramid that is getting struck by lightning. I think it represents that all the beauty of Mexico is in despair, but even though everything is hurting, there is still so much beauty to look forward too, and that is still there to ... The commitment made by the two books is best comprehended by viewing them in connection to the idea of sustainable development. The two books begin by a thought of sustainability that does not debilitate but rather is perfect and well matched with capitalism, fully supports it and does not threat a wage labor scheme of producing products for profit. According to John Ikerd s book Sustainable Capitalism: A Matter of Common Sense tries to challenge, the inherent lack of sustainability in the neoclassical paradigm. It also supports a new method for accomplishing maintainable capitalism. According to Ikerd (2005), neoclassical economic matters are the reason behind the absence of sustainability in the United States agricultural sector, and the broader American economy. Along these lines, he attempts to build up other economics of sustainability in view of standards of living frameworks that are self sufficient and fit for regeneration.
