1. BOOTING
Booting is a term that simply means “Starting your
computer”. To get a prompt is known as booting.
A DOS in a program that links the hardware with
the application software and acts as a supervisor for
proper working of each and every part of a PC.
Once you have loaded the operating system into
PC’s memory, you can run application packages,
compose letters and reports. The operating system
supplied by micro soft corporation of the USA is called
MS-DOS . But the latest operating system available from
micro soft corporation is windows 98 and windows 2000
which are multitasking , multi users OS.
2. Types of Booting:-
It is of two types:-
1. Cold booting
2. Warm/hot booting
Cold booting:-
A cold boot initiates a complete system startup operation
including the BIOS driven system diagnostics that
precedes the loading and starting of DOS. When you
switch on a computer its checks POST , BIOS and load
the operating system .
Hot booting :-
It is done by pressing the ALT , CTRL and DEL key
simultaneously or by pressing the RESET BUTTON
when the system is hang-up .
