Comcast s Residential Brand Xfinity- Essay
Comcast s residential brand Xfinity has already released a video monitoring product for its market.
Even though this gives Comcast Business a framework for the launch of the Smart Office product,
there are still risks to take into account before the launch of this new project. Anticipated/possible
risks include:
1.Potential Bottleneck due to lead time with Camera Orders
a.This is the first time Comcast Business has worked with Axis, our video camera supplier. To stay
lean Comcast will be ordering only what is needed for pending orders. If demand is high, customers
may have to endure long wait times for installation because of camera inventory at the local
Comcast warehouse/Technician dispatch center.
2.Inability to measure demand in new markets
a.Comcast has only trialed this product in select Northeastern US states. Demand is currently
unknown in other regions. Competition is low, but this does not necessarily present and
opportunity for high demand.
3.Potentially being forced to use 3rd Party install technicians
a.For standard internet or phone installations, Comcast will sometimes utilize contractors to
complete the work. This is usually when order volume is high, as we do not have enough
technicians to complete all orders in a timely manner. We have received customerfeedback that the
contractors are not as knowledgeable as internal staff, and do not provide the same high quality
work. If Comcast is forced to utilize 3rd party technicians, quality of the Smart

Pet Wearables And Connected Device Technology
Abstract Every year circuit boards and sensors become smaller and more affordable for
entrepreneurs around the world to freely innovate new technologies. Although many of these new
technologies are designed to directly interact with humans, some people are adapting this
technology to address the needs of working canines. These new devices are then being modified to
meet the needs of the regular petdogowner. New devices for pet dogs cover everything from
identification, tracking, vital sign monitoring, video cameras and environmental temperature
fluctuations to algorithms that translate tail wags and eventually even brain waves into emotions
that can be relayed to the owner. Our own smartphones allow most of these innovations to connect
owners with their dogs wearables by the use of applications. As technology continues to advance,
we will continue to see it being used to help connect owners with their pet dogs. These technologies
help owners to have peace of mind and veterinarians have access to health and activity data that
would otherwise not be observable at routine examinations. Technology and Your Dog:
Pet Wearables and Connected Device Technology
Introduction
The purpose of this research is to provide awareness for upcoming technologies as they pertain to
dogs. The use of computers, smartphones and applications are a part of everyday lives in first
world countries. As technology becomes smaller and more affordable, some gadgets that were

Who Is Sansa Stark In A Game Of Thrones
When Sansa Stark is first introduced in A Game of Thrones she is shown as a character full of
naГЇvety. She seems to think that the world revolves around beauty and lovely boys, however, a
much too harsh lesson leads to a loss of innocence in Sansa that changes her point of view
drastically. At first, Sansa puts more thought into her betrothed, Joffrey over anything else,
valuing him higher than her own family. Even though they were not to be married for several
years. She could not hate Joffrey tonight. He was too beautiful to hate. (...) Sansa looked at him
and trembled, afraid that he might ignore her or, worse, turn hateful again and send her weeping
from the table (Martin, 298). After Joffrey s sadistic treatment towards her sister, Arya and Arya s
friend, Mycha, where he tried to kill Mycha when he had done nothing wrong; Sansa still had the
ability within her to hope that Joffrey was a good person.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Once again, her ignorance is shown, when she claims her father is making bad decisions because
he sent the man better suited for an expedition, rather than the more handsome man. However,
Littlefinger, the Master of Coin of the kingdom s capital, King s Landing, sees this childishness
and lends Sansa a few words of advice. Life is not a song, sweetling. You may learn that to your
sorrow (Martin, 473). Sansa continues on with her childishness, even with Littlefinger
foreshadowing what may come with her foolishness. Finally, she comes to understand her naГЇvety,
but only after her life is changed by her father s execution, where the boy she loved, Joffrey
commands it. She comes to see the true character of Joffrey, a true monster. In life, the monsters

Analysis Of Kelly Sue Deconnick s Bitch Planet
Contextualizing a Visual Motif In Bitch Planet by Kelly Sue DeConnick there is another world
built through the cartoon. Women are dictated by their fathers, or controlling men of the society,
and punished for being obese or not what the men perceive as perfect. It brings the reader into a
futurist world which has some of the same twisted ideas of the modern world. It enlarges the idea
that bigger women are unwanted and sexualizes thin women in advertisements and in casual
conversation. This is can be seen throughout multiple panels of the comic. The comic is repetitively
sexualizing the thin women and shamming the bigger women with the use of language and
background images. There are two images of a womaneatingfood in a seductive... Show more

Celebrities everywhere are cutting out things from their diet that they do not need to in order to
lose weight. Thousands of people will also starve themselves because they think that it helps
them to lose weight, but it just hurts their body more. The writer exemplifies the problems in
today s pop culture to a new level to allow the reader to see how insane it really is. On the next
page we can see the men casually speaking poorly of the bigger woman who is working. One of
them talks about having sex with a skin and saying how wild it is while smiling and sipping on
his coffee with no cares about who overhears him (DeConnick 195). It shows how the men have
little shame in what they say and are proud of themselves for doing such things. Directly after
that there is a close up of the larger woman. This forces the reader to focus on her face and her
face alone. From this image you can see the pure anger and frustration in her face from what
these men are saying. By using this tactic, the writer is amplifying the emotion in order to ensure
that the reader does not have a chance to miss this important detail. Following that we see the
news report continue on about the parasite conveying it in a way that is positive and makes it
sound as if it is something that everyone should experience. By using words like wish and dream
come true (DeConnick 194) they make it seem like a positive even though it is most

Role Of Energy Development Sustainable Development Goals...
Roles of Energy in Sustainable Development Goals
Introduction
History of sustainable development
Sustainable development is the development that meets the needs of the present generation without
compromising the ability of the future generation from meeting their own needs (Brundtland,
1987). This concept has developed more from the intergenerational framework as indicated in the
brundtland report to incorporate the three pillars (social, environment and economic) as a whole
through series of environmental meeting held.
Today, the focus is on Sustainable DevelopmentGoals (SDGs) which was established in 2015.It is
an improvement of the millennium development goals (MDGS) in that, its focus is in all countries
in terms of not what the developed nations should do for the developing nations but addresses
major global challenges and the need for all nations to work together in order to promote global
wellbeing for the present and future generation. This contrast with the MDGs, where the focus was
on only developing countries (Sachs, 2012). Additionally, SDGs provides a better coverage of
social economic, environmental and institutional dimensions by discussing the global
environmental issues on water, ocean, ecosystem and climate change as stipulated in (ICSU, ISSC,
2015).
Energy being core in ensuring sustainable development by addressing global issues such as climate
change, poverty, has been an agenda in various environmental meeting for instance agenda 21 which

Race and Ethnicity in the United States Still Matters
Race and ethnicity is a main factor in the way we identify others and ourselves. The real question
here is does race/ethnicity still matter in the U.S.? For some groups race is not a factor that
affects them greatly and for others it is a constant occurrence in their mind. But how do people of
mix race reacts to this concept, do they feel greatly affected by their race? This is the question we
will answer throughout the paper. I will first examine the battle of interracial relationship
throughout history and explain how the history greatly explains the importance of being multiracial
today. This includes the backlash and cruelty towards interracial couple and their multiracial
children. Being part of a multiracial group still contains its... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They had been taken away from their homes and forced to works as slaves. They often do not
view themselves as part of the American society and feel like outsiders. It seems that throughout
history racial minorities have not been highly welcomed or treated properly. Japanese interment
camps are an example of this. But can the affect of a person historical background have an affect on
them today?
If a child had any form of black ancestry he would be considered black regardless if they were
partly white. This was considered the one drop rule. The child was not a pure white person
therefore was treated as someone of color. Today we have often forced multiracial groups to
classify themselves as one race or as a category of other. It was not until recently that the U.S.
census allowed for more than one racial classification to be marked down. Not many survey allow
this, regardless of the increasing population of multiracial ethnicities. In addition, they are often
criticize and torn between picking sides of their race. For instance if someone is half back and half
white they might be criticize for no acting white enough of black enough. Rockquemore and
Brunsma describe this as The biracial experience...being one of marginality and uncertainty, as these
individuals attempt to find their place within a highly racialized society (Rockquemore Brunsma,
2002). In a country that places a lot of importance on racial

Relapse Behavior
A major issue when treating alcoholism is the likelihood of relapse. A lack of social support may
contribute to an increased likelihood of relapse, while maintaining positive social support can
decrease this risk. One study discussed the possibility of social interaction influencing relapse
behavior in the prairie vole. This study focused on the alcoholdeprivation effect (ADE), where
animals that had been previously exposed to ethanolshow increased consumption after a period of
abstinence, modeling relapse behavior commonly seen in addiction. The aim of the study was first
to observe whether prairie voles, like mice and rats in previous experiments, could display an ADE
and second, to determine whether this effect could be influenced by social... Show more content on

Certain drugs are now being studied to determine whether they can be used to limit alcohol drinking
and potentially treat alcoholism. Prairie voles are now involved in drug and alcohol studies
because of their social nature. Naltrexone, a drug currently in use for treating alcoholism, was
tested on prairie voles to determine whether the animals could be used to study drug treatments
for alcoholism. In this study, voles shared a cage with a same sex sibling for five days, then
were placed in a cage with a wire mesh divider between animals. During a four day period,
animals were continually given water and had access to 10% ethanol each day. Animals received
injections of saline the first two days, then naltrexone or saline the last two, depending on group.
Both sexes of prairie voles were affected by the drug, as there was a significant decrease in alcohol
preference and dose in animals exposed to naltrexone as opposed to the saline

Survey Analysis On Writing Styles
Survey Analysis
Introduction:
As someone who has a fairly unusual writing method, I set out to find other students methods of
writing styles and compare them to mine and each other s to see if my methods are unusual or if
they are actually common among my peers. My survey consisted of five simple questions that
asked about the writing process, the difficulties of writing, and how the process of revision. When
I write, I dive right into the paper; I do not outline, and I do not write with a clear organizational
structure, which comes back to haunt me sometimes. I often just write from the top of my head
and then come back to fix paragraphs that I know are weak. For the most part, my organization is
based off of the assignment that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, I would like to note that all the respondents were males that happened to be my
friends. However, I did ask them to answer seriously and to elaborate as best they can. Some
additional information about my methods of surveying: The survey was printed out on paper and
the respondents answered with a pen on the paper. I asked the respondents to elaborate on their
answers and give me as much information as they were willing; however, since they were my
friends, they did not take my request that seriously. Therefore some answers only respond directly
to the question with little else. This is partially my fault for not creating questions that prompted
more specific responses, and this is an important note to my findings and results.
Data Analysis: To begin the survey analysis, I will start with the results of the first question,
which was: What is the first step you take to begin writing? The responses to this question were
very straightforward and exactly what I expected. Four out of five respondents answers were
related to brainstorming or making a structured outline with a thesis and supports;; however, one
said they dive right into the introduction, just like I do. The second question asked if they spaced
out their writing over the course of a day(s) or if they preferred to write an entire assignment in one
sitting. The responses to this question was a mix of

Childhood Is An Exceptional And Progressive Time Of...
Childhood is an exceptional and progressive time of physical, behavioral, cognitive, and emotional
development (Cozolino, 2010). The brain and its biological stress system are genetically
programmed and influenced by early experience. Trauma has developmental consequences on
children. Developmental traumatology research is systemic investigation of the psychiatric and
psychobiological impact of the overwhelming and chronic interpersonal violence on the developing
child (De Bellis, 2001, p. 539). It combines frameworks from developmental psychopathology,
developmental neuroscience, and stress and trauma research (De Bellis, 2001). Child maltreatment
experiences can be defined as neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, and witnessing of domestic
violenceor community violence and these may be the most common causes of interpersonal
traumas in children and adolescence (De Bellis, 2001).
Child abuse experiences may cause delays or deficits in a child s ability to achieve age appropriate
behavioral, cognitive, and emotional regulation (Cozolino, 2010). When the child caregiver
relationship is the source of the trauma the attachment relationship is severely compromised as 80%
of maltreated children develop insecure or avoidant attachment patterns (Smith, 2012).
Consequences of a disrupted attachment include impairments in bio psychosocial competencies
including increased susceptibility to stress and difficulty focusing attention; inability to regulate
emotions and behaviors can

National Signing Day falls on the first Wednesday of February. This gives programs with head

they have struggle in lateral speed and covering in space. Reese fills those needs with him able

A Viable Fetus
Miriam Webster Medical Dictionary defines a viable fetus is capable of living outside the human
uterus, weighing 500 grams or more, and the pregnancy is of 20 weeks in gestation. Not all
pregnancies go as planned as more infants are born before full term, and sometimes between 22 24
weeks of gestation. These infants are at the verge of viability and sometimes resuscitation can lead
to morbidity or mortality.
Whether health care providers resuscitate or not is an ethical dilemma which all health care
providers and family members have to struggle with when it comes to the premature baby as small
as the viable fetus. Although recommendations have been made by organizations including the
American Academy of Pediatrics and the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, the decision to resuscitate
is complex, requiring careful consideration of multiple factors related to each individual case
(Powell, et al., 2012) If the infant survives after being resuscitated it may have long term heath
issues which can be costly for the family, but some viable fetuses can survive without any negative
consequences and live a healthy life. The question asked is Should an extremely premature baby be
saved?
Historical Perspective
Today nurses receive more and better training than nurses several decades ago on what to expect
and do in treating and taking care of the extremely premature babies. Oxygen was introduced in the
1930s and this was help with the breathing of the

Now, let us note that there are 3 machines, thus giving us a total of 2,880 units. In addition, the
Boring represents a 25 reject rate, giving us 58 in units. Nevertheless, if we subtract 2,880 units
produced by all three machines from 58 units, then we will get a new total of 2,822 units.
The Drilling Capacity
The following includes, the Drilling Capacity, which has a run time of 2.5 minutes per piece.
Therefore, this produces a total of 384 units per machine, giving us a total of 960 minutes. In
addition, providing that there are a total of 6 machines, thus giving us a total of 2,304 units.
Moving forward, giving that we know that Drilling has a 75 reject rate, and thus providing us with

The System Capacity In order to find the capacity system, we are able to take the lowest number

for no more product to be allowed through in the completed cycle. Thus, the capacity system turns
out to be 2,128 units. Capacity utilization and machine scheduling also reflect tactical

JP Morgan Chase Catastrophe
In the year of 2007, the Great Recession began. It all started at the bustling Wall Street. It was a
pandemic that brought dilemma to the businesses, to the employees and to the elated new home
owners. JP Morgan Chase was one of the major banks participated in falsifying the mortgage
loans, and they suffered consequences for what they did. The mortgage loans gave temporary joy
but longtime misery to home buyers. The federal government filed a lawsuit, and it reached a
settlement. The tragedy resulted to Global and Financial reforms. The mortgage loans were used in
risky businesses. Back in 2008, James Dimon, the head of JPMorgan Chase, disclosed mortgage
underwriting was terrible. Mortgage loans are assets that were exploited to make up collateralized
debt obligations. They were also destructively utilized in investing of the banks. The mortgages
seemed improved, and they were swiftly sold because the bank attuned the critical assessments
when an outside analysis exposed intense defects with thousands of home loans. In consequence,
millions of Americans were unable to put their homes on market because they had lost so much
worth as the housing market dropped. Gretchen Morgenson, writer from NY Times, dubbed the
loans as poisonous. Due to the bank malpractices, they faced criticisms. From 2005 to 2008, the
bank confessed to a statement of facts that figured how it crashed to totally unveil the hazards of
buying uncertain mortgage securities. In March 2013,

What Does It Affect Job Stratification And Economic...
Each year, millions of babies are born into families, not yet knowing what their lives will bring.
Babies are born as male or female, as well as transgendered, bisexual, gay and lesbian. All are
born into different racial and ethnic backgrounds, some of which are White, African, Asian,
Hispanic, Chinese and many more. Born into a class or cast systems unknowing of the challenges
yet to come and the stratifications they will face. No matter which factors these babies may be
born into, each and every one will face some sort of stratification and inequality based on their
society, and the way they are raised within it. Sexual orientationis just one factor of inequality in our
culture, and I will discuss here how it affects job stratification and economic placement.
Social stratification can be viewed in one of three ways, first is structural functional which is
based on a society which is rewarded for their efforts and accomplishments. This theory believes
that inequality boost economy, pushing people to work harder. Next we have social conflict
which looks at society as being divided based on resources and ownership. This theory looks at
unequal rewards as creating inequality and placing a divide in society. Weber looked at this in
terms of socioeconomic status ranking people based on their inequalities. Last is symbolic
interaction a micro level view of society which looks at ones interactions in everyday life. This
looks at the things we purchase, what we wear and the

Data
Discuss the importance of data accuracy. Inaccurate data leads to inaccurate information. What
can be some of the consequences of data inaccuracy? What can be done to ensure data accuracy?
Data accuracy is important because inaccurate data leads may lead to such things as the closing
down of business, it may also lead to the loosing of jobs, and it may also lead to the failure of a
new product. To ensure that one s data is accurate one may double check the data given to them, as
well as has more than one person researching the data they are researching.

Steve Jobs s Commencement Speech
An effective speech is one which manages to leave the audience with a lesson for life. After
thoroughly analyzing Apple s CEO, Steve Jobs Commencement Speech at the 2005 Stanford
graduation, I would say it was, in fact, highly effective. Jobs managed to summarize his life in
three short stories that taught the audience some very valuable lessons. There are various things
that separate Steve Jobs speech from any other and one of the most important might be his
success in life. This can be the factor that makes a speech be as successful as this was. If it had
been told by someone else, it wouldn t have had the same impact.
Jobs speech took place in the 2005 graduation of the University of Stanford, in the city with the
same name in California. He was assigned the commencement speech for the event. Even though
Jobs himself was a college dropout, he had deep respect for institutions and students, and that
speech he gave in Stanford was the only one he had agreed to give as, despite being a good public
speaker, he never participated in this kind of event. He had an audience of more than twenty
thousand people and yet he managed to make it look as if it was just himself in the podium with a

Everyone can remember a special year of school that one school year that tops all of them, well my
special year was 8th grade. My reasoning for 8th grade being my favorite or special year is, because
in 8th grade I had a lot of fun. To be specific I had many adventures like hanging out with friends
outside of school, going to block parties, going horseback riding, visiting a civil war museum,
and going to the school dance. If i m being honest I may have gotten into a fair amount of trouble
like for example I may or may not have lied for one of my close friends. My friend savannah

The Godfather music
Music from the Godfather Trilogy The Godfather opens with a dark trumpet solo, which were the
opening titles for The Godfather Part II and III too. This is Vito s theme. The theme is a waltz,
but unlike an ordinary waltz, it evokes a range of varied emotions. It sounds intimate in the garden
scene but threatening in the actual main title and The Halls of Fear, for the scene in which
Michael finds his father without protection in the hospital. The final appearance of the theme in
the first film is over the end credits, where it is more sad than intimate or threatening. The Baptism
The baptism scene is where Michael kills all of his enemies while he attends his nephew s baptism
as his godfather. In this brilliant piece of music,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Godfather part 2, when the procession happens in the street, the crowds break into dancing to
this piece of music. This piece is very Italian and it fits well with the scene, because you feel how
close the community is to one another and it shows just how happy and lively the people are.
Kays Theme Kay s Theme is a piece of music which, just like Michael s Theme , is kind of a
leitmotif but for Kay this time. It is a romantic yet melancholy theme which depicts Kay s
troubled life very well. This piece of music is heard in Godfather Part II and was composed by
Nino Rota. A New Carpet This piece of music was composed, yet again, by Nino Rota and if the
background music for the scene in Godfather Part II, when Vito (when he was young) and
Clemenza steal a carpet for Vito s small flat. Unlike the other music pieces described above, this
one exaggerates the humour in the scene and makes it funnier to watch, which is what Nino Rota
was trying to achieve. Overall, the music in the Godfather Trilogy fits perfectly with whichever
scene it is in or whatever mood it is trying to convey. Nino Rota and Carmine Coppola, the main
composers in this film, are very talented and good at what they do. In my opinion, Speak Softly
Love is the best piece of music in the film because of the meaning that has been put into it and all of
the emotions that come out of it. The Godfather Trilogy has some unforgettable and legendary
music themes. The

is what affects the water absorbency of the noodles. In fact according to Beijing time progress

formed to make noodles, cooked, then deep fried in oil. They are then put through air knives, which
does not however, remove all the oil. This is why instant noodles contain such high amounts of oil,
which causes kidney stones, and prevents it from absorbing water. Oil is not the only unhealthy

Holocaust Concentration Camps The Holocaust nearly made the Jewish population and religion
disappear from the face of the Earth. From January 30, 1933 to May 8, 1945; Adolf Hitler,
German politician and leader of the Nazi party, ran the Holocaust all over Germany and Eastern
Europe. Prisoners and victims of the Holocaust include: the majority of the Jewish population,
German Communists, Socialists, Social Democrats, Roma (Gypsies), Jehovah s Witnesses,
homosexuals, and people accused of socially deviant or socially unacceptable behavior. They were
sent to many different areas that had different purposes. The most used places they were sent are
called concentration camps. Once they entered the concentration camps, there was no escaping;
those people officially became prisoners. There were 23 main concentration camps and around 900
sub camps. Concentration camps tricked the Jewish people into coming into them by offering them
a better life on the welcoming signs outside. Some of the main camps had many different
inhumane uses. All of the camps are notorious for their cruel and evil ways of everything that they
did to prisoners, such as the genocide the Holocaust caused. A lesser known camp, Westerbork, is
located in the Netherlands. This concentration camp was known as a Transit camp, which meant it

Analysis Of The Documentary The Film
A film director in Louisiana wants to publish a documentary that criticizes a candidate s lack of
integrity. (writing prompt) The candidate responded to the documentary by stating that the material
published would be scandalous and defamatory. The candidate decided to approach a Louisiana
judge in the hopes of obtaining a restraining order against the publishing and completion of the
documentary. The judge reviewed the plans for the documentary and the film that had been
recorded and determined its content was offensive and scandalous, although true and not
defamatory. (writing prompt) The judge decided to file the restraining order, which prevents the
sale, viewing, or distribution of the documentary. (writing prompt) The dispute over this case is
whether or not the director s First Amendment rights to release and complete the documentary have
been infringed upon. Upon the basis that prior restraint is presumptively invalid by the government;
the restraining order against the film director is unfounded and infringes upon the director s rights
protected under the First Amendment. The most applicable law to apply in this situation is equity
law. Unlike other laws, judges, not legislatures make equity laws in order to provide fairness to
citizens. Additionally, equity law is based on the presumption that fairness is not always achieved
through the rigid applications of strict rules. (Trager, Russomanno, Ross, Reynolds, 2014, p. 26)

The TransContinental Railroad Essay
The TransContinental Railroad
If any act symbolized the taming of the Northwest frontier, it was the driving of the final spike to
complete the nation s first transcontinental railroad. 1 The first railroad west of the Mississippi
River was opened on December 23, 1852. Five miles long, the track ran from St. Louis to
Cheltanham, Missouri. Twenty five years prior, there were no railroads in the United States; twenty
five years later, railroads joined the east and west coasts from New York to San Francisco.2 No
other single factor contributed more the commercial and social development of the Pacific
Northwest than the arrival of the railroad. For the first time in history, people could get to the west

Each railroad was to receive a 200 foot wide right of way and sections of public lands to help
finance construction. The Northern Pacific s charter originally provided ten alternate sections per
mile in states through which it passed and 20 sections per mile in territories. If sufficient lands
were not available within this grant, other sections could be selected as in lieu from a secondary
zone which reached back from the tracks another 20 miles.8 These land grants contributed greatly to
commercial development and growth of towns along the track routes. A fourth railroad was the
Southern Pacific, which was routed from New Orleans to Los Angeles. The Great Northern
Railway was the fifth transcontinental line. The Great Northern, along with the Northern Pacific,
had the greatest impact on developing the northwest. However, unlike the Northern Pacific, it was
not a land grand railroad. It did not obtain federal loans to help in its construction as did the Union

Selflessness In Russell Banks s The Sweet Hereafter
Since the beginning, children are taught to be selfless and think of others before themselves
because it will lead to a blissful life. However, one s selfless acts are often taken for granted.
Russell Banks s novel, The Sweet Hereafter, highlights that people generally do not value
selflessness, so one should prioritize his/her needs before others because that will help to attain a
happy, and fulfilled life. In the novel, Risa prioritizes herself by having an affair with Billy. Billy
and Lydia do the same when they go on vacation and use marijuana, with their children present,
and so does Nichole by lying in her deposition. All these examples make these characters quite
happy. They also prove that in today s society, small generous gestures can manage to make one
feel good about him or herself. Nonetheless, one should address his/her personal needs in certain
situations, as people do not appreciate immense selfless acts.
The first way Banks demonstrates that people should prioritize themselves before others in
certain situations, is when Risa Walker and Billy Ansel have an affair. Risa is extremely
unhappy with her current marriage with Wendell Walker, who holds her back from achieving her
dreams because of his lazy and pessimistic character. This is proven as Billy says, But she hadn t
seen it before, and now she believed that his character was getting in front of her realizing a very
important dream. (Banks 57) When Billy says this, readers understand that Risa

Essay about A New Educational Philosophy for Law...
Since the mid 1980 s there has been a paradigm shift in law enforcement from the military policing
model to the community oriented policing model (Breci Erickson, 1998; Pliant, 1998; Rosenbaum
Yeh, 1994; Thayer Reynolds, 1997; Varricchio, 1998). In the military model, police react to events
in the community (Thayer Reynolds, 1997). Community problems filter up the chain of command
and solutions filter their way back down. Policerespond when a crime is committed. There is little
contact with the members of the community until the crime has already happened. Therefore,
contact with the public tends to be through negative situations such as getting a ticket, having a

There must be a commitment on the part of city leaders and police administration. A department
wide strategy must be in place to carry out the community oriented policing program. Finally, all
personnel in the department, including civilian employees, must be educated on the philosophy of
community policing.
Law enforcement s transition away from a militaristic tradition that presented an us vs. them
relationship with the community will be a difficult process. A shift in educational philosophy will
be required to make this transition. To effectively train today s law enforcement officers there must
be a move away from the Behaviorist philosophy of education in which the teacher feeds knowledge
to a dependant learner and then the learner is expected to reproduce the knowledge in some clearly
observable behavioral outcome (Ramirez, 1996; Elias Merriam, 1995). To realistically educate all
personnel in the organization and make the transition, the educational philosophy of the department
should be compatible with the community policing approach.
Educational philosophies can be viewed along a continuum. Philosophical positions fall along this
continuum depending on how one views the importance of the individual and society and the
involvement of the learner in the education process.

Describe My Mother
I view my mother as the outmost magnificent person in my life, and I can t be more thankful to
have her. I would describe my mother as a strong and independent woman, my role model; I can t
think of another person that means a great deal to me. My mother is the sweetest and the trust
worthiest person, but she can also be tough and deliberate. My grandparent s personalities are strict,
therefore my motherwas raised in a harsh environment, this thought her to be strong and that not
everything is easy in life or handed to you. I consider her as the hardest working person I ever
know, consequently thanks to her hard work she achieved countless goals in her life. She would
always say to me you have to work hard to achieve your dreams , I believe her. If you knew her you
ll be impressed by her strong character, moreover, she is someone that you will admire if you met
her and knew her. She makes a wonderful mother and I m sure she will make a great friend. My
mother s name is Lidia Montano Ramos, she was born in La Paz, Bolivia; there she lived most of
her life, next to the side of my father who is her husband, moreover now they have 23 years
married. If you ever wanted to meet my mother, you could, it s obvious to tell her apart from a
crowd. The first thing that calls for attention is her hair, she has wavy hair, s waves mixed with
natural ringlets fighting the frizz that could be noticed for a long distance. Her hair is always in
a messy low ponytail, but when she is going somewhere elegant she frees her hair and puts it
down, you ll recognize the difference. The second point to notice is her lips, they are much the
same as a fresh coral pink, the upper lipis darker than the lower. She has a tiny scar on the right
side of the upper lip almost untraceable, however, it s most likely that you will not notice it. When
she paints her bow shaped lips, she likes the diva red. Her hair and her lips are traits that stand out
the further, she has other characteristics too, although they don t stand out as much as her hair and
lips.
Her character is one of the strongest assets she has. She treats everyone equally with respect, but if
you disrespect her, she will just simply walk away without saying a word. Even though

Indiana Bat Research Paper
After reviewing the U.S. Fish and Wildlife endangered species list (U.S. Fish and Wildlife

(Myotis sodalis). The Indiana bat is a medium sized species of bat that has a close resemblance to
that of the little brown bat. The Indiana bat is most commonly found around the great lakes region.
In the summer time the Indiana bat can usually be found in a forested habitat. While in the winter
they are known to hibernate as colonies in caves (Wildlife Department 2011). Upon researching
this species, I came across some reasons the Indiana bat is endangered. The most major threat that
the Indiana bat faces is human disturbance in hibernation caves during the winter. According to The

Another way to help ensure the survival of this species would be to put forth community
education to help raise funds and awareness in finding cure for the white nose syndrome

sacrifice from us humans in order to ensure the survival of this species. I do not believe the

many species of bat s currently affected by the white nose syndrome. With this issue in mind the

Summary Of Novum Organum By Bacon
In Book I, sections xix xxx of Novum Organum by Bacon, Bacon is talking about acquiring
knowledge. He starts by stating that there are two possible ways of acquiring knowledge. The first
way is by collecting information and data through the senses and from there jumping to
conclusions. The second way is by collecting information, but instead of jumping to conclusions one
gradually ascends to these conclusions. By this, he means that there must be time and thoughtput
into it in order to come to the conclusions. Bacon claims that the way that is used now is the first
way, however, the best way is the second (Bacon 42). Next, Bacon explains that people tend to
acquire knowledgeusing the first way because people are lazy. The second way requires work and
labor and people don t like work so they take the simplest route possible. Acquiring knowledge the
second way cause fatigue and people like to go through life in the simplest and easiest way so they
use the first way (Bacon 42).
When a patient man with a reflecting nature makes an attempt at the second way (understanding)
there is little effect. This is because understanding is unequal to the task of overcoming the
obscurity of things. In other words, understanding is not equivalent to comprehending the obscure
or abnormal qualities of nature (Bacon 42).
Both of the two ways begins with observation and collecting data. Likewise, both end with general
truths or self evident truths about nature. However, just because they

Essay on Taoism and Nature In Chinese Medicine
One of the oldest and most complete medical systems ever developed is traditional Chinese
medicine. The Taoist ideas and the importance of nature have been intertwined with Chinese
Medicine from the ancient beginnings of Chinese culture. Tao or way, is the major idea of Taoism:
Man models himself on earth, earth on heaven, heaven on the way, and the way on that which is
naturally so . Taoism teaches that human beings should be in harmony with nature, that is, with Tao
(Y). Taoism celebrates the forces of nature and recognizes the interplay of yin and yangin all things.
The Taoist principles of Yin Yang, the eight principles, Chi energy, and the five elements are tools

This emphasis on perception of pattern is based on Taoist thought, which altogether lacks the
idea of a creator and the concern of which is insight into the web of phenomena, not a
comprehension of the weaver (Freeman, 311). The Taoist doctrine of balance and harmony or
Yin Yang is the primary guideline for Chinese medicine. All existence and activity, including
health and disease, can be explained by the interactions of yin and yang (Lu, 7). According to
Chinese medicine illnesses are caused by imbalances between the body s nutritive substances,
the yin, and the functionaly activity of the body, the yang. This principle is mirrored in nature
except the imbalances between yin and yang manifest as natural disasters instead of disease.
These imbalances disrupted the flow of chi along the body s energy pathways, known as
meridians. Chi is believed to be the vital energy or life force that drives every cell in the body.
Physical, emotional, and mental harmony rely on the unobstructed flow of chi. The Role of the
five elements of nature (wood, water, metal, earth, and fire) is also recognized by Chinese
medication. The five elements are a subdivision of yin and yang. Each element denotes a category
of related functions and qualities and allows additional tools for diagnosis. The elements allow
distinctions concerning the direction of change of the yin and yang. The eight principles must also
be comprehended and addressed if the patient is to be made healthy and

Why Is Guilt Important In Macbeth
The belief that people know the difference between right and wrong is often incorrect and most
must face the feeling of guilt in order to know they did something wrong. Elin Hilderbrand once
said, Guilt and no guilt: these were the worst things . This statement also applies to the novel
Macbeth, where characters make ruthless decisions and their recovery from what they have done
plays on who they are as a person. Some use guiltto learn from their mistakes and grow while others
do not feel remorseful and this causes their ruthless actions to become habitual. In the tragedy
Macbeth, Shakespeare uses blood to prove guilt manipulates ones decisions and actions through the

She believes by doing this the guilt will go away and all will return to normal. Because of the
guilt they feel towards the murder, their actions of wanting to get rid of the blood are so intense
because of the influence of this guilt.
Guilt serves as a powerful guiding tool for Lady Macbeth and causes her character to change for
the better when she starts to realize her own mistakes. Her once ruthless and influential drive to
kill dims after she is struck with guilt from the murders she sets up. She even shows signs of
regret which is proven by her own actions described by the Gentlewoman(she takes care of Lady
Macbeth when she sleepwalks), It is an accustomed action with her to seem thus washing her
hands. I have known her to continue in this a quarter of an hour (Shakespeare V.i.2). The word
accustomed proves that the washing of her hands is a normal action for her. She continuously tries
to part herself from this guilt by eliminating the factor that connects the two, which is blood. By

Every Christmas Eve when we have the party everyone brings an amazing dish and almost
everything is completely gone by the end of the night. My aunt makes a ton of food and it is
always so good that just the smell can make your mouth water. Also, everyone brings food and it
is so hard not to sneak some food before everyone eats. My family and I go to my aunt s house and
our two families decorate enough cookies for everyone to have some. Last year I got to bring a
friend and we had a lot of fun decorating cookies. Everyone loves the taste and the design of all
the cookies because they are all different and delicious. We all spend time together then we eat
dinner and we always leave snacks and desserts out and they are so good. We always have soft
sugar cookies with frosting on them and usually we have someone bring brownies and they are so
chocolatey they taste amazing and I can t keep my hands off of them since they are so great.

Why and how disasters vary and have different impacts in different areas and situations? The
answer lies in the degree of development of that particular area and situation. In developing
countries development only works best when there is a strong need of development and there are
volunteer leaders to work for their betterment. For example when an area is hit by a disaster and
suffered great economic and social loss then the local people residents and governmental and
nongovernmental organizations will start focusing their attention towards such area and situation
and will start more and more developmental activities for the betterment and improvement of such
area. The magnitude of the disaster cannot be helped but the after effects can be. The disaster
disrupts the living and almost everything but it also gives them a chance to reconstruct better and in
ways that they always wanted or desired. The current disaster just showed them where and what
went wrong. The new ways and plans are to be more resistant than the last one. The developmental
activities include activities such as awareness raising among the people by educating the people in
order to have knowledge for future disasters. Preparedness, prevention and mitigation measures
should be and are introduced in context of reconstruction, relocation, new investment in order to
increase the coping capacity of a country

Sustainable Design Versus Aesthetic Design
Design is that area of human experience, where skill and knowledge is concerned with man s
ability to mould the environment according to his material and spiritual needs. It is used to analyse
and identify problems to find an appropriate solution. Designers have created all kind of functional
designs to help improve people s lives. They were interested in the nature of beauty, art, and taste
and with the creation and appreciation of beauty. Although there are examples of pre historic art,
they are rare and the guidelines that they followed are not so clear, Thus the aesthetic doctrines that
guided their production and interpretation one mostly unknown. However, recently designer notice

However, these cultural aesthetic merits have been undermined by very restricted pro
environmental guidelines (Donald et al, 2008) such as, The Design Accord. As a result, modern
architecture has lost the engagement with the local cultural identity and the sense of creativity has
been reduced (Donald et al, 2008). Where experimenting and exploiting the plant resources will
result in a better world than trying to protect the environment (Donald et al, 2008). A good
architecture does not need any ethical diminution and responsibility regarding the environment and
just design for the design sake (Donald et al, 2008).
What they both fails to consider is that the aesthetic value and the environment value, if they are
used together it will benefit the design. Good design should have the flexibility, creativity and
responsible design approaches and methods, and also good communication (Wolf 2010). According
to Meyer (2008) the aesthetic value could increase the functionality of a particular the design. He
also states that In designing urban eras parks consider as aesthetic value, but it also has an
important effect on the environment in two ways: they are environment cleaning machines and
shady groves of trees reducing temperatures, absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen.

Standardized Testing Has Impacted Public Schools
Students are overwhelmed with school, work, extra curricular activities, family, etc. Perhaps
standardized tests are a major contributor to students stress. A standardized test is any test scored in
a consistent manner and requires test takers to answer identical questions. Among the most
common include the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT
) and the American College Test (ACT).
According to the article Standardized Testing Has Negatively Impacted Public Schools from
Opposing Viewpoints in Context, the beginnings of standardized tests occurred during World War I
when the American Psychological Association developed a ground administered test to eliminate
inefficient recruits (Solley 3). Today, standardized tests are necessary for college admission. Just
last month, in March of 2016, College Board, the non profit organization responsible for
administering the SAT, altered the format of the test. It is now formatted more similar to the ACT
and includes an optional essay reducing the score from 2400 to 1600. Many advocates argue
standardized tests accurately measure academic intelligence and hold teachers and schools
accountable. In today s society, standardized tests have become the norm, and unfortunately, people
overlook their negative effects despite research substantiating arguments about their disadvantages.
Standardized tests are disadvantageous because they hinder education and contain bias.
First, standardized tests negatively affect education. For example,

Health Care Issues
One of the great gifts we receive as Americans is freedom; something we must thank all of the
men and women who serve in the various armed forces for protecting. The unfortunate reality is
that these men and women often don t receive proper care when returning home from overseas
especially when it comes to health care. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has spent a lot
of time in local and national headlines after many veterans suffered serious illness and even death
as a result of unresolved issues in the system. Two of the VA s spotlight issues include the long
wait for service and the image of non caring employees. The combination of these issues was
blamed for multiple veterans deaths in 2012 and is a large talking point for the current... Show more

For example, the VA scandal that took place a few years ago centered around patient deaths after
manipulated waiting lists and lack of timely care resulted in the firing of only three low level
employees (Miller, 2015). There was not one person in an upper management position who
confessed in knowing about or partaking in the scandal. This is where the importance of a
board of directors comes in because with all of the protecting laws and regulations it is nearly
impossible to fire a government employee but if a board of directs was put into place with the
power of firing an employee on proper grounds then there would be a domino effect of positive
outcomes (Miller, 2015). In response to the lack of repercussion for those involved in the scandal
Representative Jeff Miller stated, Perhaps what s really making it hard to attract top talent to VA is
its notorious aversion to accountability (Miller, 2015). If corrupt behavior was removed from the
VA health care system then more talents physicians, nurses, and other employees would be
interested to work for the department improving the overall care of our country s protectors. With
the improvement in staffing and care the negative image surrounding the department s treatment of
patients would be lightened and eventually

broad options regarding integration of their communities: identification with multiple groups;
identification with one group, to the exclusion of others; and identification with one group at a
given time (Poynter Washington, 2005). This is an aspect that places a measurable toll. One way
many LGBTQ people of color overcome the barriers to integration is by establishing their own
communities. Groups that share sexual orientationand ethnic background can be essential for
helping individuals find support and empowerment.

The Magical World Of Bartimaeus The Tower Of London
In the magical world of Bartimaeus and Nathaniel, their mission to seek revenge and justice takes
place in London. Throughout the book, Bartimaeus is sent on adventures from plotting on the
rooftops of houses, to sojourning in the back alleys of London to hide from enemies. He also
begins to describe the area of which he has resided in and creates a curiousness in the reader to
discover the layout of this perplex and mysterious city. Interested myself about the setting of
London, I chose key locations in which Bartimaeus encounters along his adventures and began to

In knowing that Thames separates both halves of London, I began to wonder what the Tower of
London was, and where it was in comparison to Thames so that I could connect it to other places

the north bank of the River Thames in central London (Wiki). The Tower of London used to be
the residence of the royal family, but today it is used as a treasury that contains many valuables
of the royal family, including The Crown Jewels of England; crown. During the following years
after The Westminster Hall was built, the Tower of London was being used as a prison (Wiki),

The Challenges Of Command Structure In Operation Anaconda
In early January 2002, American intelligence received evidence of a large volume of enemy forces
assembling in the Shahi Kot Valley in Eastern Afghanistan. Central Command (CENTCOM), led by
General Tommy R. Franks, was directing combat operations in Afghanistan through the Coalition
Forces Land Component Command (CFLCC) and Coalition Forces Air Component Command
(CFACC). As the interest in assaulting the Shahi Kot Valley amplified, General Franks reached a
conclusion that a U.S. tactical commander was a need in Afghanistan. The decision was to assign
the 10th Mountain DivisionCommander, Major General (MG) Franklin Hagenbeck, as the tactical
commander. In an effort to strengthen MG Hagenbeck s command authority, CENTCOM named
his headquarters Combined Joint Task Force (CJTF) Mountain and gave it command and control
authority over Operation Anaconda. By having command and control authority, MG Hagenbeck
would encounter challenges with the command structure. The challenges of command structure
were due to CJTF Mountain not having tactical control (TACON) of multiple Special Operation
Forces, the Joint Special Operations Air Component (JSOAC), and friendly Afghanistan forces.
These misunderstandings were resolved during the execution phase, but rectifying the command
relationships prior would have avoided lost time and resources needed on enemy forces and
positions. In this paper, I will identify the challenges of command structure during Operation
Anaconda.

And The Imporatance In The Gambler, By Fyodor Dostoyevsky
The Gambler and the imporatance of distinct charachters in novels
No one can deny that the psychological novel displays to the greatest extent how a variety of
different characters is important for an enjoyable read. Such is the emphasis on the internal events
and the inner mental life of its characters, that this type of the novel is probably one of a kind in
which characterization is more prominent than in all other literary genres. First examples originate
from earlier epochs, but only a few could argue whether one of the greatest representatives of this
genre was a Russian writer Fyodor Dostoyevsky or not. Though he is best known for his other
novels, Crime and Punishment, The Idiot, The Possessed and The Brothers Karamazov, this text
offers a take on characters of his fascinating short novel The Gambler which was written in 1866.
Two topics are woven within the zealously intricated storyline. The one is desperate longing for a
distant woman and the another one is a passion for gambling that Dostoyevsky himself at the time
was struggling with. At the same time, the novel was inspired by the topic ... Show more content on

How The Growth Of Cities And Scotland Influenced The...
If time travel was possible and one could somehow travel from Scotland nineteenth century to
Scotland twentieth, a dramatic difference would be noticed. In those one hundred years much in
Scotland transformed. This essay shall look at the changes that took place and how the growth of
cities in Scotland influenced the development of social welfare.
During the 1760s Scottish economy started undergoing some important transformations. There was
a shift from agriculture to industry which did not happen overnight and some effects of this were
not seen until sometime later. The change started within the linen industry. Cotton soon started to
take over as it turned out to be more adaptable to the new textile machines that came in to use in the
last 1700s. A number of revolutionary inventions changed how the productions of textile goods
were produced in Scotland. The Spinning Jenny in 1760s allowed steam power to be introduced in
the 1780s to mule spinning. Steam power changed everything about production. At this time the
size of the cities compared to the outer parts such as villages and highlands expanded hugely. The
population in Scotland almost doubled in fifty years from 1.625m in 1801 to 2.896m in 1851, with
this rapid growing happening mostly in the industrial cities. Glasgow s population went from 77,000
to 275.000. Dundee from 26,000 people to 166,000. Even smaller industrial towns were
expanding; Paisley had only 4,000 people during the 1750s and rose to 24,000 in

Iago s Motives Of Stock Characters In Othello
can be interpreted in many ways, each person views it differently. Each account being influenced

very sympathetic of Iago. I think that when trying to understand the character Iago, first we need
to recognize what Shakespeare s original intentions for the play were, and also the style of plays
he tended to write, as they all have obvious similarities. Rather than writing about stock
characters, which was common in the theater during Elizabethan times, Shakespeare wrote about
people who seemed real. Rosenberg believes that Shakespeare s intentions for the play was to be

McCloskey, in order to determine what Iago s motives were in Othello by William Shakespeare.
Stempel is very much a symbolist critic. Stempel is of the belief that Iago is the symbol of evil,
he has little sympathy towards Iago, in that he compares him to the devil. On the other hand
Rosenberg argues against Stempel, claiming that Iago is an intelligent, cunning character who is
like many characters so commonly used the psychological style of writing. McCloskey similar
to Rosenberg thinks that Iago was a man who merely set out to seek justice, who had gotten so
far that it was too late to remove himself from the situation. After researching and examining the
papers of these critics it has become clear that Iago did not carry out evil for the sake of it, he
had a motive. Iago had a lot of jealous and hate built up inside of him, he, like many people had a
reputation to attain. Since Othello and Cassio harmed his reputation, he planned to get revenge.
Overcome with power, and emotions, Iago lacked the will to refrain himself from causing such

Black Plague Research Paper
Looking back through history, we see a lot of death. Religious wars, famine, and, most
predominantly, disease. Throughout history, the leading cause of death was a plethora of different
deadly plagues. Malaria, which causes severe vomiting and a lethally high fever; tuberculosis,
which causes bloody phlegm and extreme chest pain; smallpox, which causes severe rashes and
major organ failure; and many, many more. The one factor that makes most diseases so deadly is
their infection rate. The more people who are infected, the more people die.
Fortunately, modern medical practices and technology have helped us progress in dealing with,
healing, and preventing these mass tragedies that seem to strike humanity at least once a millenium.

The Black Plague: famous for being the most catastrophic event in European history. We all
know about the Black Plague from our 7th grade history class, but what do you actually know
about it? The cause of the Black Plague is a bacteria known as Yersinia pestis, found in the bites
of infected fleas and other insects. These fleas rode on the backs of rats and other vermin who
were present on boats during water trade. This, as well as the lack of hygiene in Europe, caused
the bacteria to spread even further than just coastal cities. People all over Europe were
experiencing excruciatingly painful symptoms, including flu like symptoms, such as vomiting
and fever, black skin from dying skin cells (known as gangrene), and extremely thin blood,
which made a small cut into a big problem. The disease spreads through the air, bodily fluids, and
infected tissue. This plague killed over 50 million people, 60% of Europe s entire population in
1334. In 1892, the vaccination for the Black Plague was introduced by a man named Waldemar
Mordecai Haffkine, a Russian bacteriologist. His work was the first effective prophylactic
vaccination, or preventative drug, for a bacterial disease in man, according to an article by the
NCBI. This vaccination was extremely effective, bringing the death toll from a much higher amount
to a smaller 500,000

Essay about American Airlines Competitive Strategy
Evaluate American s 1992 announcement of a new rate structure:
a. What changes did American make?
American Airlines (American) made four fundamental changes to its rates. First, it moved to a four
tier rate structure; American offered first class rates and three tiers of coach: full fare, 21 day
advance purchase and 7 day advance purchase. Overall, it expected to reduce coach fares by 38%
and first class fares by 20% to 50%. Though full fare coach prices dropped by about 38%, advance
purchase fares dropped by 6% when compared to the advance purchase tickets already being
offered. Through this fare structure, American also eliminated deep discount tickets. Second,

Travel agents therefore are both positively and negatively impacted. Small business customers are
positively impacted by the fare changes. Previously, the higher full fare prices discouraged small
business travel; small businesses would either decide against travel or incur the cost of a Saturday
night stay and purchase a reduced fare ticket. By reducing the full coach fares, small businesses
will be able to purchase more convenient flights at more economical prices. Large businesses, on
the other hand, may be negatively impacted. Since many large businesses had negotiated discount
rate contracts with airlines, the new full coach fare may be higher than these negotiated fares. For
large businesses that did not have negotiated contracts, the fares will be lower than the previous full
fare rate.
Leisure travelers overall will be made better off by the new fare structure. These travelers have
more flexibility and can take advantage of the advance purchase discounts and Saturday night stay
discounts. An exception to this is leisure travelers who had found loop holes in the old fare system
by using creative ticketing and waiting for deep discounts. These leisure travelers may pay higher
rates because the deep discounts will no longer be offered.
c. Why did each of American s competitors react to the fare changes the way they did?
Continental, Northwest and United Airlines intended to adopt part of the new fare system.
Continental, because it is in Chapter

  • 2. Comcast s Residential Brand Xfinity- Essay Comcast s residential brand Xfinity has already released a video monitoring product for its market. Even though this gives Comcast Business a framework for the launch of the Smart Office product, there are still risks to take into account before the launch of this new project. Anticipated/possible risks include: 1.Potential Bottleneck due to lead time with Camera Orders a.This is the first time Comcast Business has worked with Axis, our video camera supplier. To stay lean Comcast will be ordering only what is needed for pending orders. If demand is high, customers may have to endure long wait times for installation because of camera inventory at the local Comcast warehouse/Technician dispatch center. 2.Inability to measure demand in new markets a.Comcast has only trialed this product in select Northeastern US states. Demand is currently unknown in other regions. Competition is low, but this does not necessarily present and opportunity for high demand. 3.Potentially being forced to use 3rd Party install technicians a.For standard internet or phone installations, Comcast will sometimes utilize contractors to complete the work. This is usually when order volume is high, as we do not have enough technicians to complete all orders in a timely manner. We have received customerfeedback that the contractors are not as knowledgeable as internal staff, and do not provide the same high quality work. If Comcast is forced to utilize 3rd party technicians, quality of the Smart ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Pet Wearables And Connected Device Technology Abstract Every year circuit boards and sensors become smaller and more affordable for entrepreneurs around the world to freely innovate new technologies. Although many of these new technologies are designed to directly interact with humans, some people are adapting this technology to address the needs of working canines. These new devices are then being modified to meet the needs of the regular petdogowner. New devices for pet dogs cover everything from identification, tracking, vital sign monitoring, video cameras and environmental temperature fluctuations to algorithms that translate tail wags and eventually even brain waves into emotions that can be relayed to the owner. Our own smartphones allow most of these innovations to connect owners with their dogs wearables by the use of applications. As technology continues to advance, we will continue to see it being used to help connect owners with their pet dogs. These technologies help owners to have peace of mind and veterinarians have access to health and activity data that would otherwise not be observable at routine examinations. Technology and Your Dog: Pet Wearables and Connected Device Technology Introduction The purpose of this research is to provide awareness for upcoming technologies as they pertain to dogs. The use of computers, smartphones and applications are a part of everyday lives in first world countries. As technology becomes smaller and more affordable, some gadgets that were originally ... • 4. Who Is Sansa Stark In A Game Of Thrones When Sansa Stark is first introduced in A Game of Thrones she is shown as a character full of naГЇvety. She seems to think that the world revolves around beauty and lovely boys, however, a much too harsh lesson leads to a loss of innocence in Sansa that changes her point of view drastically. At first, Sansa puts more thought into her betrothed, Joffrey over anything else, valuing him higher than her own family. Even though they were not to be married for several years. She could not hate Joffrey tonight. He was too beautiful to hate. (...) Sansa looked at him and trembled, afraid that he might ignore her or, worse, turn hateful again and send her weeping from the table (Martin, 298). After Joffrey s sadistic treatment towards her sister, Arya and Arya s friend, Mycha, where he tried to kill Mycha when he had done nothing wrong; Sansa still had the ability within her to hope that Joffrey was a good person.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once again, her ignorance is shown, when she claims her father is making bad decisions because he sent the man better suited for an expedition, rather than the more handsome man. However, Littlefinger, the Master of Coin of the kingdom s capital, King s Landing, sees this childishness and lends Sansa a few words of advice. Life is not a song, sweetling. You may learn that to your sorrow (Martin, 473). Sansa continues on with her childishness, even with Littlefinger foreshadowing what may come with her foolishness. Finally, she comes to understand her naГЇvety, but only after her life is changed by her father s execution, where the boy she loved, Joffrey commands it. She comes to see the true character of Joffrey, a true monster. In life, the monsters win, she told herself, and now it was the Hound s voice she heard, a cold rasp, metal on ... • 5. Analysis Of Kelly Sue Deconnick s Bitch Planet Contextualizing a Visual Motif In Bitch Planet by Kelly Sue DeConnick there is another world built through the cartoon. Women are dictated by their fathers, or controlling men of the society, and punished for being obese or not what the men perceive as perfect. It brings the reader into a futurist world which has some of the same twisted ideas of the modern world. It enlarges the idea that bigger women are unwanted and sexualizes thin women in advertisements and in casual conversation. This is can be seen throughout multiple panels of the comic. The comic is repetitively sexualizing the thin women and shamming the bigger women with the use of language and background images. There are two images of a womaneatingfood in a seductive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Celebrities everywhere are cutting out things from their diet that they do not need to in order to lose weight. Thousands of people will also starve themselves because they think that it helps them to lose weight, but it just hurts their body more. The writer exemplifies the problems in today s pop culture to a new level to allow the reader to see how insane it really is. On the next page we can see the men casually speaking poorly of the bigger woman who is working. One of them talks about having sex with a skin and saying how wild it is while smiling and sipping on his coffee with no cares about who overhears him (DeConnick 195). It shows how the men have little shame in what they say and are proud of themselves for doing such things. Directly after that there is a close up of the larger woman. This forces the reader to focus on her face and her face alone. From this image you can see the pure anger and frustration in her face from what these men are saying. By using this tactic, the writer is amplifying the emotion in order to ensure that the reader does not have a chance to miss this important detail. Following that we see the news report continue on about the parasite conveying it in a way that is positive and makes it sound as if it is something that everyone should experience. • 6. Role Of Energy Development Sustainable Development Goals... Roles of Energy in Sustainable Development Goals Introduction History of sustainable development Sustainable development is the development that meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of the future generation from meeting their own needs (Brundtland, 1987). This concept has developed more from the intergenerational framework as indicated in the brundtland report to incorporate the three pillars (social, environment and economic) as a whole through series of environmental meeting held. Today, the focus is on Sustainable DevelopmentGoals (SDGs) which was established in 2015.It is an improvement of the millennium development goals (MDGS) in that, its focus is in all countries in terms of not what the developed nations should do for the developing nations but addresses major global challenges and the need for all nations to work together in order to promote global wellbeing for the present and future generation. This contrast with the MDGs, where the focus was on only developing countries (Sachs, 2012). Additionally, SDGs provides a better coverage of social economic, environmental and institutional dimensions by discussing the global environmental issues on water, ocean, ecosystem and climate change as stipulated in (ICSU, ISSC, 2015). Energy being core in ensuring sustainable development by addressing global issues such as climate change, poverty, has been an agenda in various environmental meeting for instance agenda 21 which ... The real question here is does race/ethnicity still matter in the U.S.? For some groups race is not a factor that affects them greatly and for others it is a constant occurrence in their mind. But how do people of mix race reacts to this concept, do they feel greatly affected by their race? This is the question we will answer throughout the paper. I will first examine the battle of interracial relationship throughout history and explain how the history greatly explains the importance of being multiracial today. This includes the backlash and cruelty towards interracial couple and their multiracial children. Being part of a multiracial group still contains its... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They had been taken away from their homes and forced to works as slaves. They often do not view themselves as part of the American society and feel like outsiders. It seems that throughout history racial minorities have not been highly welcomed or treated properly. Japanese interment camps are an example of this. But can the affect of a person historical background have an affect on them today? If a child had any form of black ancestry he would be considered black regardless if they were partly white. This was considered the one drop rule. The child was not a pure white person therefore was treated as someone of color. Today we have often forced multiracial groups to classify themselves as one race or as a category of other. It was not until recently that the U.S. census allowed for more than one racial classification to be marked down. Not many survey allow this, regardless of the increasing population of multiracial ethnicities. In addition, they are often criticize and torn between picking sides of their race. For instance if someone is half back and half white they might be criticize for no acting white enough of black enough. A lack of social support may contribute to an increased likelihood of relapse, while maintaining positive social support can decrease this risk. One study discussed the possibility of social interaction influencing relapse behavior in the prairie vole. This study focused on the alcoholdeprivation effect (ADE), where animals that had been previously exposed to ethanolshow increased consumption after a period of abstinence, modeling relapse behavior commonly seen in addiction. The aim of the study was first to observe whether prairie voles, like mice and rats in previous experiments, could display an ADE and second, to determine whether this effect could be influenced by social... In this study, voles shared a cage with a same sex sibling for five days, then were placed in a cage with a wire mesh divider between animals. During a four day period, animals were continually given water and had access to 10% ethanol each day. Animals received injections of saline the first two days, then naltrexone or saline the last two, depending on group. Survey Analysis On Writing Styles Survey Analysis Introduction: As someone who has a fairly unusual writing method, I set out to find other students methods of writing styles and compare them to mine and each other s to see if my methods are unusual or if they are actually common among my peers. My survey consisted of five simple questions that asked about the writing process, the difficulties of writing, and how the process of revision. When I write, I dive right into the paper; I do not outline, and I do not write with a clear organizational structure, which comes back to haunt me sometimes. I often just write from the top of my head and then come back to fix paragraphs that I know are weak. For the most part, my organization is based off of the assignment that ... However, I did ask them to answer seriously and to elaborate as best they can. Some additional information about my methods of surveying: The survey was printed out on paper and the respondents answered with a pen on the paper. I asked the respondents to elaborate on their answers and give me as much information as they were willing; however, since they were my friends, they did not take my request that seriously. Therefore some answers only respond directly to the question with little else. This is partially my fault for not creating questions that prompted more specific responses, and this is an important note to my findings and results. Data Analysis: To begin the survey analysis, I will start with the results of the first question, which was: What is the first step you take to begin writing? The responses to this question were very straightforward and exactly what I expected. Four out of five respondents answers were related to brainstorming or making a structured outline with a thesis and supports;; however, one said they dive right into the introduction, just like I do. The second question asked if they spaced out their writing over the course of a day(s) or if they preferred to write an entire assignment in one sitting. • 10. Childhood Is An Exceptional And Progressive Time Of... Childhood is an exceptional and progressive time of physical, behavioral, cognitive, and emotional development (Cozolino, 2010). The brain and its biological stress system are genetically programmed and influenced by early experience. Trauma has developmental consequences on children. Developmental traumatology research is systemic investigation of the psychiatric and psychobiological impact of the overwhelming and chronic interpersonal violence on the developing child (De Bellis, 2001, p. 539). It combines frameworks from developmental psychopathology, developmental neuroscience, and stress and trauma research (De Bellis, 2001). Child maltreatment experiences can be defined as neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, and witnessing of domestic violenceor community violence and these may be the most common causes of interpersonal traumas in children and adolescence (De Bellis, 2001). Child abuse experiences may cause delays or deficits in a child s ability to achieve age appropriate behavioral, cognitive, and emotional regulation (Cozolino, 2010). When the child caregiver relationship is the source of the trauma the attachment relationship is severely compromised as 80% of maltreated children develop insecure or avoidant attachment patterns (Smith, 2012). Consequences of a disrupted attachment include impairments in bio psychosocial competencies including increased susceptibility to stress and difficulty focusing attention; inability to regulate emotions and behaviors can ... Unlike previous classes, the offensive side of the ball dominates this commitment lists. Five of the six Top200 players committed in the class are offensive players, highlighted by Matt Corral, Jacob Copeland, and Jamarr Chase. Typically, the recruiting National Signing Day falls on the first Wednesday of February. This gives programs with head coaching vacancies, like Florida, some time to bring in a new coach and allow them to recruit prospects. A Viable Fetus Miriam Webster Medical Dictionary defines a viable fetus is capable of living outside the human uterus, weighing 500 grams or more, and the pregnancy is of 20 weeks in gestation. Not all pregnancies go as planned as more infants are born before full term, and sometimes between 22 24 weeks of gestation. These infants are at the verge of viability and sometimes resuscitation can lead to morbidity or mortality. Whether health care providers resuscitate or not is an ethical dilemma which all health care providers and family members have to struggle with when it comes to the premature baby as small as the viable fetus. Although recommendations have been made by organizations including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, the decision to resuscitate is complex, requiring careful consideration of multiple factors related to each individual case (Powell, et al., 2012) If the infant survives after being resuscitated it may have long term heath issues which can be costly for the family, but some viable fetuses can survive without any negative consequences and live a healthy life. The question asked is Should an extremely premature baby be saved? From January 30, 1933 to May 8, 1945; Adolf Hitler, German politician and leader of the Nazi party, ran the Holocaust all over Germany and Eastern Europe. Prisoners and victims of the Holocaust include: the majority of the Jewish population, German Communists, Socialists, Social Democrats, Roma (Gypsies), Jehovah s Witnesses, homosexuals, and people accused of socially deviant or socially unacceptable behavior. They were sent to many different areas that had different purposes. The most used places they were sent are called concentration camps. • 32. Selflessness In Russell Banks s The Sweet Hereafter Since the beginning, children are taught to be selfless and think of others before themselves because it will lead to a blissful life. However, one s selfless acts are often taken for granted. Russell Banks s novel, The Sweet Hereafter, highlights that people generally do not value selflessness, so one should prioritize his/her needs before others because that will help to attain a happy, and fulfilled life. In the novel, Risa prioritizes herself by having an affair with Billy. Billy and Lydia do the same when they go on vacation and use marijuana, with their children present, and so does Nichole by lying in her deposition. All these examples make these characters quite happy. They also prove that in today s society, small generous gestures can manage to make one feel good about him or herself. Nonetheless, one should address his/her personal needs in certain situations, as people do not appreciate immense selfless acts. The first way Banks demonstrates that people should prioritize themselves before others in certain situations, is when Risa Walker and Billy Ansel have an affair. Risa is extremely unhappy with her current marriage with Wendell Walker, who holds her back from achieving her dreams because of his lazy and pessimistic character. This is proven as Billy says, But she hadn t seen it before, and now she believed that his character was getting in front of her realizing a very important dream. A department wide strategy must be in place to carry out the community oriented policing program. Finally, all personnel in the department, including civilian employees, must be educated on the philosophy of community policing. Law enforcement s transition away from a militaristic tradition that presented an us vs. them relationship with the community will be a difficult process. A shift in educational philosophy will be required to make this transition. To effectively train today s law enforcement officers there must be a move away from the Behaviorist philosophy of education in which the teacher feeds knowledge to a dependant learner and then the learner is expected to reproduce the knowledge in some clearly observable behavioral outcome (Ramirez, 1996; Elias Merriam, 1995). To realistically educate all personnel in the organization and make the transition, the educational philosophy of the department should be compatible with the community policing approach. • 35. Describe My Mother I view my mother as the outmost magnificent person in my life, and I can t be more thankful to have her. I would describe my mother as a strong and independent woman, my role model; I can t think of another person that means a great deal to me. My mother is the sweetest and the trust worthiest person, but she can also be tough and deliberate. My grandparent s personalities are strict, therefore my motherwas raised in a harsh environment, this thought her to be strong and that not everything is easy in life or handed to you. I consider her as the hardest working person I ever know, consequently thanks to her hard work she achieved countless goals in her life. She would always say to me you have to work hard to achieve your dreams , I believe her. If you knew her you ll be impressed by her strong character, moreover, she is someone that you will admire if you met her and knew her. She makes a wonderful mother and I m sure she will make a great friend. My mother s name is Lidia Montano Ramos, she was born in La Paz, Bolivia; there she lived most of her life, next to the side of my father who is her husband, moreover now they have 23 years married. If you ever wanted to meet my mother, you could, it s obvious to tell her apart from a crowd. The first thing that calls for attention is her hair, she has wavy hair, s waves mixed with natural ringlets fighting the frizz that could be noticed for a long distance. Her hair is always in a messy low ponytail, but when she is going somewhere elegant she frees her hair and puts it down, you ll recognize the difference. The second point to notice is her lips, they are much the same as a fresh coral pink, the upper lipis darker than the lower. She has a tiny scar on the right side of the upper lip almost untraceable, however, it s most likely that you will not notice it. When she paints her bow shaped lips, she likes the diva red. Her hair and her lips are traits that stand out the further, she has other characteristics too, although they don t stand out as much as her hair and lips. Her character is one of the strongest assets she has. She treats everyone equally with respect, but if you disrespect her, she will just simply walk away without saying a word. Even though ... Indiana Bat Research Paper After reviewing the U.S. Fish and Wildlife endangered species list (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service 2017) for species near my home, I had found an endangered known as the Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis). The Indiana bat is a medium sized species of bat that has a close resemblance to that of the little brown bat. The Indiana bat is most commonly found around the great lakes region. In the summer time the Indiana bat can usually be found in a forested habitat. While in the winter they are known to hibernate as colonies in caves (Wildlife Department 2011). Upon researching this species, I came across some reasons the Indiana bat is endangered. The most major threat that the Indiana bat faces is human disturbance in hibernation caves during the winter. Another way to help ensure the survival of this species would be to put forth community education to help raise funds and awareness in finding cure for the white nose syndrome (Animals Moms.me 2016). I do not believe that these change would not require that much sacrifice from us humans in order to ensure the survival of this species. • 37. Summary Of Novum Organum By Bacon In Book I, sections xix xxx of Novum Organum by Bacon, Bacon is talking about acquiring knowledge. He starts by stating that there are two possible ways of acquiring knowledge. The first way is by collecting information and data through the senses and from there jumping to conclusions. The second way is by collecting information, but instead of jumping to conclusions one gradually ascends to these conclusions. By this, he means that there must be time and thoughtput into it in order to come to the conclusions. Bacon claims that the way that is used now is the first way, however, the best way is the second (Bacon 42). Next, Bacon explains that people tend to acquire knowledgeusing the first way because people are lazy. The second way requires work and labor and people don t like work so they take the simplest route possible. Acquiring knowledge the second way cause fatigue and people like to go through life in the simplest and easiest way so they use the first way (Bacon 42). When a patient man with a reflecting nature makes an attempt at the second way (understanding) there is little effect. This is because understanding is unequal to the task of overcoming the obscurity of things. In other words, understanding is not equivalent to comprehending the obscure or abnormal qualities of nature (Bacon 42). Both of the two ways begins with observation and collecting data. Likewise, both end with general truths or self evident truths about nature. However, just because they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Taoist ideas and the importance of nature have been intertwined with Chinese Medicine from the ancient beginnings of Chinese culture. Tao or way, is the major idea of Taoism: Man models himself on earth, earth on heaven, heaven on the way, and the way on that which is naturally so . Taoism teaches that human beings should be in harmony with nature, that is, with Tao (Y). Taoism celebrates the forces of nature and recognizes the interplay of yin and yangin all things. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This emphasis on perception of pattern is based on Taoist thought, which altogether lacks the idea of a creator and the concern of which is insight into the web of phenomena, not a comprehension of the weaver (Freeman, 311). The Taoist doctrine of balance and harmony or Yin Yang is the primary guideline for Chinese medicine. All existence and activity, including health and disease, can be explained by the interactions of yin and yang (Lu, 7). According to Chinese medicine illnesses are caused by imbalances between the body s nutritive substances, the yin, and the functionaly activity of the body, the yang. This principle is mirrored in nature except the imbalances between yin and yang manifest as natural disasters instead of disease. These imbalances disrupted the flow of chi along the body s energy pathways, known as meridians. Chi is believed to be the vital energy or life force that drives every cell in the body. Physical, emotional, and mental harmony rely on the unobstructed flow of chi. The Role of the five elements of nature (wood, water, metal, earth, and fire) is also recognized by Chinese medication. The five elements are a subdivision of yin and yang. Each element denotes a category of related functions and qualities and allows additional tools for diagnosis. The elements allow distinctions concerning the direction of change of the yin and yang. The eight principles must also be comprehended and addressed if the patient is to be made healthy and ... According to the article Standardized Testing Has Negatively Impacted Public Schools from Opposing Viewpoints in Context, the beginnings of standardized tests occurred during World War I when the American Psychological Association developed a ground administered test to eliminate inefficient recruits (Solley 3). If time travel was possible and one could somehow travel from Scotland nineteenth century to Scotland twentieth, a dramatic difference would be noticed. In those one hundred years much in Scotland transformed. This essay shall look at the changes that took place and how the growth of cities in Scotland influenced the development of social welfare. During the 1760s Scottish economy started undergoing some important transformations. There was a shift from agriculture to industry which did not happen overnight and some effects of this were not seen until sometime later. The change started within the linen industry. Cotton soon started to take over as it turned out to be more adaptable to the new textile machines that came in to use in the last 1700s. A number of revolutionary inventions changed how the productions of textile goods were produced in Scotland. The Spinning Jenny in 1760s allowed steam power to be introduced in the 1780s to mule spinning. Steam power changed everything about production. At this time the size of the cities compared to the outer parts such as villages and highlands expanded hugely. The population in Scotland almost doubled in fifty years from 1.625m in 1801 to 2.896m in 1851, with this rapid growing happening mostly in the industrial cities. Glasgow s population went from 77,000 to 275.000. Dundee from 26,000 people to 166,000. Throughout history, the leading cause of death was a plethora of different deadly plagues. Malaria, which causes severe vomiting and a lethally high fever; tuberculosis, which causes bloody phlegm and extreme chest pain; smallpox, which causes severe rashes and major organ failure; and many, many more. The one factor that makes most diseases so deadly is their infection rate. The more people who are infected, the more people die. Fortunately, modern medical practices and technology have helped us progress in dealing with, healing, and preventing these mass tragedies that seem to strike humanity at least once a millenium. In fact, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Black Plague: famous for being the most catastrophic event in European history. We all know about the Black Plague from our 7th grade history class, but what do you actually know about it? The cause of the Black Plague is a bacteria known as Yersinia pestis, found in the bites of infected fleas and other insects. These fleas rode on the backs of rats and other vermin who were present on boats during water trade. This, as well as the lack of hygiene in Europe, caused the bacteria to spread even further than just coastal cities. People all over Europe were experiencing excruciatingly painful symptoms, including flu like symptoms, such as vomiting and fever, black skin from dying skin cells (known as gangrene), and extremely thin blood, which made a small cut into a big problem. The disease spreads through the air, bodily fluids, and infected tissue. This plague killed over 50 million people, 60% of Europe s entire population in 1334. In 1892, the vaccination for the Black Plague was introduced by a man named Waldemar Mordecai Haffkine, a Russian bacteriologist. His work was the first effective prophylactic vaccination, or preventative drug, for a bacterial disease in man, according to an article by the NCBI. This vaccination was extremely effective, bringing the death toll from a much higher amount to a smaller 500,000 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Essay about American Airlines Competitive Strategy Evaluate American s 1992 announcement of a new rate structure: a. What changes did American make? American Airlines (American) made four fundamental changes to its rates. First, it moved to a four tier rate structure; American offered first class rates and three tiers of coach: full fare, 21 day advance purchase and 7 day advance purchase. Overall, it expected to reduce coach fares by 38% and first class fares by 20% to 50%. Though full fare coach prices dropped by about 38%, advance purchase fares dropped by 6% when compared to the advance purchase tickets already being offered. Through this fare structure, American also eliminated deep discount tickets. Second, American eliminated the negotiated discount contracts of many large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Travel agents therefore are both positively and negatively impacted. Small business customers are positively impacted by the fare changes. Previously, the higher full fare prices discouraged small business travel; small businesses would either decide against travel or incur the cost of a Saturday night stay and purchase a reduced fare ticket. By reducing the full coach fares, small businesses will be able to purchase more convenient flights at more economical prices. Large businesses, on the other hand, may be negatively impacted. Since many large businesses had negotiated discount rate contracts with airlines, the new full coach fare may be higher than these negotiated fares. For large businesses that did not have negotiated contracts, the fares will be lower than the previous full fare rate. Leisure travelers overall will be made better off by the new fare structure. These travelers have more flexibility and can take advantage of the advance purchase discounts and Saturday night stay discounts. An exception to this is leisure travelers who had found loop holes in the old fare system by using creative ticketing and waiting for deep discounts. These leisure travelers may pay higher rates because the deep discounts will no longer be offered. c. Why did each of American s competitors react to the fare changes the way they did? Continental, Northwest and United Airlines intended to adopt part of the new fare system. Continental, because it is in Chapter ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
