The concept of the digital university is often raised as a major issue within HE developments. Many universities have digital elements but still operate on a pre-digital basis. This webinar will outline how the piloting of the Grades Journey Solution at Glasgow Caledonian University is a microcosm of what a university has to address if it claims to be digital. Jim will share the results of their pilot and the intended outcome e.g. a simplified workflow for the single input of grades and their extraction into the SIS.

While everyone in the higher education field today agrees that there isnÍt a clear definition of
what a MOOC is, CCCS is attempting to build a better sMOOC (smaller massive open online
course) combining the elements of both, a cMOOC and xMOOC. CCCS found a way to
incorporate an emerging educational trend, leverage technology to reach hundreds of people
with the appropriate, quality pedagogy; and meet the needs of their 13 system and 2 nonsystem
institutions.
Student Enrolment Management - Lead Acquisition, Maturation, ConversionJP Rains, MBA
In Post-Secondary Education we place a tremendous amount of focus on our enrolment funnel. In these slides, I cover the three step process from acquisition to conversion (enrolment) and the implications of technology on the industry.
Organizations are changing at a very high speed. This change requires them to acquire new knowledge and competence at the same speed; otherwise, it will lead to the emergence of huge knowledge gaps. Research has proved that the formal way of learning is not closing the knowledge gaps anymore. Organizations need to find alternatives and one such alternative is Performance Support Solutions. Performance Support Solutions are used to continually reinforce the knowledge for better retention and just-in-time support to perform better.
In this Presentations the attendees will learn:
- How knowledge gaps can creep into an organization and what are their impacts.
- Why there is a need for change in learning and knowledge management.
- About the concept of Performance Support Solutions.
- About Philips Cue Cards, an award winning solution developed by Philips Lighting and G-Cube.
- About the solutions implemented at Philips Lighting, through real life examples and success stories.

In learning and development there is often talk about the need to be more strategically focused. ELearning holds the promise of being flexible, faster and more effective than face to face learning. Without a strategic, quality-focused approach, however, employees are left dis-engaged, learning effectiveness is reduced and quality issues ensue.
It doesn’t have to be like this.
This interactive webinar will explore:
- what a strategic approach to eLearning looks like
- how digital learning technologies can be used to embed 70:20:10 blended learning approaches
- the stages of developing an eLearning strategy
- the different approaches that are required when getting starting with eLearning compared to when growing and expanding
some guidelines about when in-house development works and when you should outsource development
It’s true, the CSM Journey begins with User Adoption. Without strong adoption; retention and renewal become problematic.
Up until now, User Adoption has meant many different things to many different people. Today, Cloud and SaaS companies have redefined what User Adoption is and how it’s attained.
In this webinar, we've partnered with Tri Tuns Consulting to discuss:
- The UA/CSM Journey
- Who owns User Adoption?
- User Adoption: Defining Success
- User Adoption Planning
- Delivering the Goal

Embed and extract learning in work, 70:20:10 is the buzz word. It is linked to performance and performance support.
What is the embedded learning design? what is the dream and destination?
For sure, it is a new learning paradigm.
Best practices are scarce!
CasCas presents a visualisation of the 702010 destination. Subsequently I present a journey, an implementation strategy. Based on the image of the future, I describe the tasks and contribution of Learning & Development professionals.

Prospective Student Web Content Team - University of Edinburgh intro sessionNeil Allison
Introductory presentation and workshop organised by the University of Edinburgh's new Prospective Student Web Content Team. Sessions run for University staff involved in web marketing, recruitment and admissions during December 2019.
This presentation, presented by Ellen Wagner and Howard Bell at the ASU+GSV Conference in May 2017, outlines the need for supports when it comes to student success.
SUNY Broome is one of 64 campuses in the State University of New York System and a new member of Achieving the Dream. “Joining Achieving the Dream was important for us,” said Heather Darrow, Staff Associate for Student Retention. “We are striving to become a college that is proactive and not reactive. I think that’s why we joined when we did - and why we invested in Starfish. Both investments demonstrate our administration’s commitment to student success.” SUNY Broome focused on early alert flags and Kudos in their initial implementation, and now they are eager to do more. They are training faculty, building automated workflows around flags, and developing ways to encourage participation both within the faculty and for those in non-academic roles. This Webinar will focus on advice and “lessons learned” in the early stages of implementing the Starfish platform at a community college. As Heather Darrow said, “In the beginning it seemed very abstract – I know it can be hard to conceptualize how Starfish will work. But I figured it out, and others can too. I look forward to helping other schools!” Speakers: Heather Darrow, Staff Associate for Student Retention Michelle Beatty, Online Student Advisor

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
