complementary strand of mRNA (messenger
RNA)

• (mRNA from the nucleus is turned into an
amino acid chain at the cell’s ribosomes)
Translation
• Translation does not begin until a START codon
is read by the ribosome (AUG)
• Translation is terminated when a STOP codon is
read by the ribosome (UAA, UAG, UGA)
