Animallike Protists are a diverse group of eukaryotic microorganisms that include zooflagellates, sarcodines, ciliates, and sporozoans. Some animallike protists cause serious diseases in humans and animals, such as malaria which is caused by a eukaryotic protist and transmitted by mosquitoes, and African sleeping sickness which is caused by protozoans and transmitted by tsetse flies. Animallike protists exhibit a variety of traits including being single-celled or colonial, autotrophic or heterotrophic, and forming symbiotic relationships with other organisms.
