Essay On The North American Industry Classification System
North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is the standard used by Federal statistical
agencies in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and
publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy. NAICS was developed under the
auspices of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and adopted in 1997 to replace the
Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system. It was developed jointly by the U.S. Economic

They have also attacked patent listings in the Food and Drug Administration Orange Book and have
alleged monopolization through fraud on the Patent and Trademark Office and sham litigation. Yet
other cases have condemned distribution agreements as unlawful exclusive dealing. These government
actions have led to substantial private class action litigation against the pharmaceutical industry. The
FTC has also challenged numerous mergers and acquisitions in the industry over the last decade. One
common feature in all of these cases is the need to define a relevant market. In nonmerger cases, the
FTC and private plaintiffsgenerally allege narrow markets, limited to a single drug and its generic
equivalent in some cases and to generic drugs excluding the bioequivalent brand name drug in other
cases. In its merger challenges, on the other hand, the FTC has alleged markets ranging from those
based upon a particular chemical compound, to broader markets based upon various drugs manner of
interaction or dosage form, to still broader markets of all drugs used to treat a disease or condition. In
numerous pharmaceutical merger challenges, the government has included in the market not only
currently marketed drugs but also other drugs under development, alleging innovation markets. There
are several markets where it is relatively easy to name every competitor. These are concentrated
markets where only a handful of competitors

Alexander the Great vs Napoleon Bonaparte, What I Got so...
When we think of Alexander the Great, we think of an outstanding war hero. When we think of
Napoleon Bonaparte, we think, again, of an outstanding war hero. If a random person were asked who
either of these rulers was, their first response would be a fact about war. Alexander and Napoleon
share similarities in their warfare, and how they used it to conquer and establish new lands. Alexander
the Great s strong perseverance and incredible battle strategies led to increase his power over his
empire. Napoleon used his intelligence and skill of manipulation to earn respect and support from the
French people, which gained him great power. Both men had similar qualities attaining leadership but
their strategies to reach this were very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That wasn t enough for King Alexander; he wanted to reach the ends of the world and the Great Outer
Sea . With this, he set off to invade India in 326 B.C. but was forced to turn around at the expense of
his troops. Alexander the Great died in Babylon in 323 B.C.; in years following his death many civil
wars broke out and tore apart his empire. Many years later, in a galaxy far far away, on the date of
August 15, 1769 another war hero and emperor was born, Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon reigned
over the French from May 18, 1804 to April 11, 1814 and ruled Italy over the years from March 17,
1805 to April 11, 1814. Napoleon I, Emperor of the French, set up Napoleonic Code; it was a major
influence in civil law jurisdictions. Napoleon is best recognized for his role in the wars against France,
known as the Napoleonic Wars. His success in these multiple battles led Napoleon to be known as one
of the best military leaders of all time. His strategies and campaigns are studied at military schools
around the world. Napoleon Bonaparte was born into a family of noble Italian ancestry. Napoleon
settled in Corsica in the 16th century and later was trained as an artillery officer at a prestigious
military school in France, where they most likely talked of Alexander the Great s military conquests
and strategies. In 1799, Napoleon

20th Century London Research Paper
In the 20th century, London, England was at its most prime. London started the 20th century as the
capital of the world s largest Empire and Britain s most ruling city. In the 20th century, London had a
booming economy. London had the largest industrial centre in Britain and about five million
Londoners had solid jobs. London s main source of jobs was its mighty docks complex. 1 Due to
London s industrialization, London began its first motor bus service in 1904, followed by the first
underground electric train, the subway, in 1906. 2 Although the economy was very superior, the health

colonies migrated to London in the 1950a and 1960s. One fourth of London s population was
immigrants or the immigrant s offsprings. London grew very steadily at this time. Londo has about
two hundred thousand people at the beginning of the 17th century, but the numbers went down
drastically because of the two plagues and the Great fire. After these disasters, London rebuilt itself
with houses made of brick and stone. Since this, London grew at a steady pace and is still growing.
About one million people lived in London at the beginning of the industrial revolution, and it kept
growing. London was the largest city in the entire world. Due to London growing at a rapid pace, she
had to find some way of transportation. A result to this was the underground railway. London was the

Psychopath Dennis Rader Case Study
Psychopath Dennis Rader, alias the BTK Killer, killed a total of 10 people, including 2 children, over
a fifteen year period ranging from 1974 to 1991. Rader was apprehended and arrested in 2005 because
of newer forensic technology available to analyze DNA and computer forensics. Ultimately, it was
Rader s own daughter who turned police informant, and give them a DNA sample from her cheek

COPE Intervention
The good news is also that the increasing societal awareness and research has developed effective
treatment options that can be implemented into a school setting. Cognitive behavioral therapy
provides the basis for most of these intervention style treatments, based on the assumption that
dysfunctional thinking can be changed and, in turn, lead to symptomatic relief and improvement in
functioning (Craske, 2010, p. 49). Cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on overriding the automatic
mal adaptive pathways of depressed thought, or functions at the conscious level to effect changes in

The Oil Curse Essay
Saudi Arabia is a primarily oil based economy, with oil being the most important component of the
nation s rapid economic development since World War II. U.S. geologists discovered oil in the region
in the 1930s, and since exports expanded most notably in the 1960s, production and rich revenues
have been seemingly limitless. The amount of oil in Saudi Arabia s reserves amounts to close to a
quarter of the world s entire oil resources, and today the country produces about 10,000 barrels a day.
As a result, the valuable resource currently accounts for 90% of the country s exports and contributes
to 75% of government revenues annually. During the 1970s, following the Arab Israeli war, Saudi
Arabia s economy was one of the fastest growing in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nation s inability to shift toward a more liberal state of affairs can be attributed to many factors,
three of which in particular, will be examined and discussed throughout this essay: the rentier effect ,
the repression effect , and the modernization effect .
Throughout its history, a series of different dynasties and kings have ruled Saudi Arabia. Today, Saudi
Arabia is in the midst of s the Third Saudi State . It was founded in 1902 by King Abdul Aziz Al Saud,
who conquered the remaining ruling families, and through the Treaty of Jeddah on May 20, 1927, was
recognized as an independent realm by the United Kingdom. Since then, the Saud family has ruled the
kingdom. The king is the head of state and government and decisions are made through the
consultation of senior princes in the royal family ( Third Saudi State ).
Saudi Arabia is not an electoral democracy, nor is it considered by Freedom House to be free , as it
scores 7 out of 7 on its freedom scale (1 7, with 7 being not free ). The Basic Law of 1992 declares
that the Koran and the Sunna, which offer guidance based on the deeds and sayings of Muhammad,

Buprenorphine and methadone, both being opioids, activate the opioid (mu) receptors on nerve cells.
And both drugs have long half life s, meaning that they re long acting medications (Reuter, Nicholas,
and Reckitt Benckiser). The chief difference between the two detoxifiers is the idea of a partial agonist
versus a full agonist; methadone and heroin are full agonist where as buprenorphine is only a partial
agonist (Reuter, Nicholas, and Reckitt Benckiser). Methadone, as a full mu opioid agonist, continues
to produce effects on the receptors until either all receptors are fully activated, or the maximum effect
is reached (Reuter, Nicholas, and Reckitt Benckiser). Whereas buprenorphine is a derivative of
thebaine, an extract of opium. The drug is an opioid partial agonist and thus can produce euphoria,
analgesia, and sedation associated with opiates (US Department of Justice). Essentially methadone has
been proven to be more dangerous and addictive than buprenorphine, but buprenorphine has also been
proven to create dependency and death. It is by their actions on opioid receptors that opioids achieve
their analgesic (pain killing) as well as their addictive effects (Reuter, Nicholas, and Reckitt
Benckiser). In layman s terms the partial agonist of buprenorphine and the full agonist of methadone
determine the effects and side effects of the drug, buprenorphine is deemed milder than methadone

Essay on Steroid Usage
Steroid Usage
Why do so many people use steroids when there are so many health risks and side effects? Do people
take steroids because they are not aware of all the risks? Not likely, steroids have been around since
the 1930 s when Nazi scientists tried to invent drugs that would make German armies more powerful
(Banks, Substance Abuse in Sport: The Realities, pg. 13 21). Though steroids were considered harmful
and made illegal in 1991 (Berlow, Sports Ethics). Some side affects of steroids are baldness, high
blood pressure, lowered sex drive, acne, nosebleeds, liver disease, kidney disease, and many more

From personal experience, a football player I knew said I decided I was going to take steroids to get
big and strong and aggressive. I didn t care if I died, as long as I completed the season just as long as I
finished like a man. This football player was so dedicated to being the best that he could be. He did
not even care if he lost his own life. In recent years sports have become a huge industry. Just this year
Alex Rodreguez signed a ten year two hundred and fifty million dollar contract with the Texas
Rangers. This is the biggest contract in sports history. A gold medal in the Olympics can mean
millions of dollars to athletes, coaches, managers, sponsors, and even countries. It is no wonder more

hates, longing to look like the bodybuilders he admires. Steroids are enormously popular not only on

As Artie wrote it in the book, in 1968 my mother killed herself ... she left no note! , shows absence of

losing mother.
Another form of guilt I see is from the Vladek toward Anja. In 1944, he and Anja left Srodula and
moved to Sosnowiec. After they left Srodula, all their hiding places were temporary and unreliable.
Vladek realized if Germany occupies the country there is nothing left for him and Anja in Poland and
there will be no chance for them to live without fear. so Vladek tells Mrs. Kawka he would do
anything to get out of Poland and Mrs. Kawka tells him about smugglers, taking people to Hungary.

everything is safe.

Economic Value Of The Good Life
The difference between back then and the society we live in today, is that there are now many things
that money can actually buy. By exploring the Good Life, the topic of economic value comes to mind
and the question that permeates is if that thing should or should not have an economic value. It is
crazy to think about some of the things that people charge others that do not have any real
significance. For instance, Michael Sandel pointed how in some cities, non violent offenders can pay
ninety dollars a night for a prison cell upgrade. That is an example to me that seems very pointless
because if a person is a criminal why should his or hers economic status put them to a greater
advantage than anybody else in that prison. Drawing from the content from this week s readings I
believe that certain things should contain more economic value than other. For instance things like the
internet, adoptions, health care, education, and parking are things to me that have economic value, but
really shouldn t. On the contrary, things that should have economic value are things like the
preservation of the environment, museums, and recreational and national parks.
Things that I believe should not have such an economic value are things that to me seem essential to
an individual s life. One thing that has monetary value and really shouldn t in my opinion is wifi.
Paying for wifi is something that gets me furious because I truly believe that there should be free wifi
anywhere you go. I think

Balance Error Scoring System
Dizziness and/or imbalance are common symptoms for athletes sustaining a concussion [1 5]. It is
speculated that the acute symptoms of dizziness and/or imbalance experienced in these athletes is not
actually a peripheral vestibular dysfunction (i.e., inner ear), but rather a central disruption between the
vestibular system and the pathways for vision, known as a visual vestibular interaction mismatch [6
8]. This mismatch can lead to decreased gaze stability with head movements and may result in
common symptom complaints of blurred vision or diplopia [9 10]. Athlete reported symptoms are a
large portion of the concussion assessment battery; however, it is well known that athletes under
report symptoms [11 12].
Thus, determining objective and accurate measures to help determine safe return to play on the
sideline and during the return to play progression protocol appears to be a necessary task for health
care professionals. Currently, balance function is most commonly assessed with a postural control
measure known as the Balance Error Scoring System (BESS), which indirectly assesses vestibular
sensory input. One limitation of this measure is the lack of information regarding the functional use of
the visual vestibular system, specifically the vestibulo ocular reflex (VOR). The VOR allows for
stable gaze during head movements [13 14] and is imperative to the athletes optimal ... Show more

She loves nature, her mother said in awe.
Fauna! Let s name her Fauna in honor of the whimsical land that surrounds us.
And so it was. As Fauna grew up she explored the forest alone and kept to herself because she was too
shy to expose herself to social situations. After all, she enjoyed the presence of nature and the natural
vibe it gave off. Fauna loved nature so much that she was granted control of plants from Zeus to use
when she was in danger. Fauna had no idea of this gift. Then one day a huge boulder came out of no

Hiya!!! I m Dorothy, you may recognize me from The Wizard of Oz with a few slight changes, like

Frank wrote poems and working with his brother Harry, put out a news journal called The Rose Lawn
Journal in which Frank s poems were published. Frank has some very unique interests, which
sometimes helped him write his stories. For example, one of Frank s interests was chicken breeding
and his first professionally published book was about chickens.
One night his children s wishes were overheard and it was to write his stories down on paper. He
started to do so, and there they became his first published children s book. He continued writing
mostly successful stories and soon enough, a passion developed. The Wizard of Oz was published on
Frank s forty fourth birthday and was an instant success. He wrote many more books. Following the
success of the musical of The Wizard of Oz, Frank was inspired to write another Oz book. Although
the second book was popular, it did not gain as much profit as the first. The Baum s moved to
Hollywood in the 1910 s where Frank continued to write several books. None of the books did very
well and despite the money that he had made from his previous successes, Frank s poor investment

Hardy Greaves, the narrator, retells the match between Rannulph Junah, Bobby Jones and Walter
Hagen from his point of view to Michael, who is facing conflicts in his own life. The story begins in
Savannah, Georgia with Mr. Invergordon, a wealthy Scotsman. He envisions the grandest golf course
the South has ever seen and has it built by Alister Mackenzie. A 500 room hotel is also built. However,
when the Crash of 1929 hits, Mr. Invergordon s empire is lost and he cannot take the financial

Junah s game starts out mediocre, but then worsens as the first day continues. Bagger Vance offers
him advice and even points out Bobby s even tempoed swing and Walter s erratic one. As the match
progresses over the next three days, Bagger Vance shows Junah more and more of The Field in order
for him to replicate his Authentic Swing. Undoubtedly, Junah s golf game starts to improve. He is
soon knocking strokes off of his score easily. Hagen and Jones quickly see that their third opponent is
not to be taken lightly. Not long after, Junah shocks the crowd when he calls a penalty on himself for
accidentally moving his ball. Only Hardy witnesses this mistake, but Junah knows he cannot lie. At
this point, Bagger Vance realizes Junah has mastered his swing and the battle with his Inner Self.
Leaving Hardy to caddie for Junah, Bagger walks off the course. Junah ends up with a seventy six for
the third round, but drops down to a sixty six for the final eighteen holes. Hardy finishes the story and
decides to drive to the weathered Krewe Island Golf Course to play the only hole remaining in good

Steroid Use And Steroids Use
I can say something that less and less people can say these days; I love baseball. I like football and
basketball just as much, but I do love the game of baseball. It s America s pastime, what is there not to

professional sports leagues. Once I found this section in the readings I wanted to investigate it and dig
a little deeper into how big of an issue it really is, and what the league has or has not done about it.
Fortunately, this trend has seemed to fade away and become less of a problem. However, I would still

This new stricter policy is what would bring the MLB out of the steroid era . When most people think
about PED use in baseball the obvious names come to mind: Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds, Alex
Rodriguez, Rafael Palmeiro, and Gary Sheffield. However, some names they are not aware of are Bay
Area Laboratory Co Operative (BALCO), or the Biogenesis of America Clinic in Florida. What s
more, it is often unknown that a large majority of the players that have been suspended received their
performance enhancing drugs from those laboratories. According to a CNN article on the timeline of
the BALCO scandal, in the early 2000 s BALCO came under investigation by federal agents in
California, and by the U.S. Anti Doping Agency who received an anonymous tip that an undetectable,

Armando Rios, Benito Santiago, and Bobby Estalella. All of these players were given the steroids by a
man named Greg Anderson, who was their trainer. During this investigation, many high profiled
players were subpoenaed to testify in front of a grand jury. Barry Bonds and Gary Sheffield both
testified that they unknowingly took steroids that were given to them by Greg Anderson. Conversely,

Profile Based Personalized Web Search
We suggest a Profile based personalized web search framework UPS (User customizable Privacy

utility and privacy risk, with its NP hardness proved we formulate the problem of Profile based

With the help of two greedy algorithms, namely GreedyIL and GreedyDP, we generate the expected
search result, greedy algorithms support runtime profiling. While the former tries to maximize the

Bill Of Rights, The Center Of The American Constitution
Bill of Rights Bill of rights, the center of the American constitution.
The reason that why Bill of rights can be established is the anti federalist thought the constitution only
stipulated that power from government, and the citizen can not get any power from it. In 1788, at the
beginning of the United States, all the citizens want the freedom and democracy, then The Bill of
Rights is here. The birth of the Bill of Rights, is the most basic principles of personal freedom and
limited the central government.
There have ten amendments in Bill of Rights, in my point of view, the first and the tenth amendments
is the most important. The first amendment is talk about the freedom and the tenth amendments is
about decentralization. Then i will give some reasons.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to
assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. First amendment talked more
about the freedom and separate religion. The freedom is include: the freedom of religion, of speech, of
publish,of assembly, of demonstration, these five freedoms.

Sir Phillip Sidney s Sonnet #47 from Astrophil and Stella...
Sir Phillip Sidney s Sonnet #47 from Astrophil and Stella
Sir Phillip Sidney s Sonnet # 47 from Astrophil and Stella The sonnet is a short concise form of
writing and it takes a great mind to master it. By mastering it, I mean to be able to say so much in
what seems like so little space. Sir Phillip Sidney comes as close to mastering it as anyone else in his
time or any other does. As the opening line says, this is about a betrayal. Strangely enough, the last
line of the sonnet ends with a word that is the very essence of betrayal. The sonnet ends with the word,
lie. This would cause one to expect to get an explanation of the betrayal between the first and last
lines. This appears to be a story of both love and betrayal. In the ... Show more content on

In the second, line is questions whether he wants the spirit to show that he despises his love. He has
wanted her for a long time and he is in misery without her, he is in this deep misery and the only thing
he has is his despise for begging. The third quatrain is different from the first two in its format. The
first line is indented and the other three are not. This would cause one to think that this line is set apart
for a reason. The first two words say why, it is an exclamation to wake up. It is meant to stand out
much like a mother coming into a child s room and yelling wake up very early in the morning. Here,
the narrator is telling Virtue within himself to awake. He wants to do the right thing. He realizes that
although this girl is beautiful, he does not love her and he must let her go. It is not fair to hold on to
someone in a relationship or in the words of the first quatrain, keep someone a slave to you, if you do
not love them. This is a commentary from over four hundred years ago that is still true in relationships
today. Today, people will date or stay together in an unhealthy relationship for stupid reasons or
superficial reasons and either one or both of the people do not love the other. The last couplet, the
closing lines of the sonnet, also tell the story of relationships today. In the beginning of the
relationship he thought that he may have been in love with her.

Essay Emile Durkheim and the Collective Conscience
Emile Durkheim and the Collective Conscience Emile Durkheim (1858 1917) was a French
sociologist who strongly influenced the discipline of sociology. It was apparent to Durkheim that since
the French Revolution, the nation had been wracked by conflict and moral crisis (Stones, 2008). At the
individual level, rising suicide rates reflected a growing sense of malaise. Durkheim s goal was to
develop a sociology that would help France overcome this continuing moral crisis. By tracing the
influences on Durkheim to his predecessor August Comte and the German scholars of experimental
psychology, it is possible to understand how Durkheim came to the conclusion that society is greater
than the individual, and how his idea of a collective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast, individuals who populate any society are eminently social beings guided by moral rules.
Pope and Johnson (1983) state that Durkheim proposed that society revitalizes individuals and gives
them strength to persevere in the face of the vicissitudes of everyday life. Stones (2008), further states
that Durkheim felt that we acquired all the best in ourselves and all the things that distinguish us from
other animals from our social existence. Thought, language, world views, rationality, morality and
aspirations are derived from society. Thus, the unsocialised individual, the individual divorced form
society, the beast within us, is a poor approximation of the highly socialised beings that constitute
societies. The importance of social factors over the individual can also be seen in Durkheim s work on
suicide (Stones, 2008). Suicide was explained in terms of two independent variables, integration in
society and regulation by society. Low levels of integration led to egoistic suicide, while low levels of
regulation led to anomic suicide. Durkheim cited egoism and anomie as the main causes of suicide in
the modern world; a world which he believed showed less interaction and people thinking more about
themselves than others. As a result, people are less bound to one another, there is less community and
social control is weaker (Stones, 2008). Durkheim applied his

Analysis Of Jason Brennan s Second Chapter Of Against...
In Jason Brennan s second chapter of Against Democracy (2016) multiple topics are discussed
pertaining to the political action of voting. Throughout this chapter Brennan explores the ideologies of
rational ignorance and rational irrationality about politics, as well as the psychological benefits of
holding firm to an irrational belief, and the cognitive biases or errors displayed in society. Brennan s
views create controversy and often times don t seem to directly favor one another. Although I admired
the viewpoints Brennan gave, I had a difficult time buying into the philosophical ideas he presented.
As we progress in this paper, we will learn more about Brennan s narrow view of politics being only
associated to voting. Brennan created adequate argument for the philosophical measures he presents,
however this strict polices don t seem to equate with democracy in its entirety.
Within the second chapter of Against Democracy (2016), we become aware of rational ignorance
about politics and rational irrationality about politics. These two subjects hold considerable weight in
Brennan s expression of what it means to be political. Rational ignorance is when the costs of
acquiring knowledge surpass the benefits of having that knowledge (Brennan, 2016). In relation to
politics, which Brennan exclusively only refers to as voting and not any other political action, rational
ignorance is when there is no benefit to learning political matter because you vote will not matter or

The String Instruments Are Made From Wood, And Instruments
String instruments
Sting instruments are musical instruments that are made from wood and have strings. They make their
sound when their strings vibrate. This causes the body of the instrument as well as the air inside to
vibrate too. The strings are either plucked with the hand or a bow is drawn across the strings. In an
orchestra the four string instruments are the violin, the viola, the cello and the bass.

The Violin
The violin is the smallest and highest pitched string instrument. It is played by a violinist or fiddler.
When playing, the violinist holds the violin between the top of his left shoulder and the left side of his
chin as he draws the bow across the string or plucks the strings with one or both hands. The sound can
be stopped by placing a hand on the strings. The bow is made of wood and horse hair. The violin is
tuned in perfect fifths. Music for the violin is written in the treble clef. In the orchestra, the violins
play in two groups. These are the first violins and the second violins. In the orchestra, the violins sit to
the left of the conductor in rows. The first violins are to the far left and the second violins are to the
right of them. The Concert Master is usually a first violin player, and he or she sits in the front row of
the first violins.

Racism has great effect on how both Indian men gain access to a proper education. Alexie says, A

Wind Wolf had a very different home life experience. He was raised in a loving and privileged Indian

Inductive Argument
In the first part of the assignment we were asked to identify components of arguments, premise and
conclusion, for the passages. Where applicable we are to highlight key words or phrases that identify a
claim as a premise or a conclusion. A premise is the support for the conclusion. (Missimer, 2005) The
first example has several premises as follows if Sue s baby is a boy it will be named Mark and if it is a
girl it will be named Margaret. Another premise is that Sue will have a boy or girl. So is a keyword
indicating the conclusion that Sue s baby will be named Mark or Margaret. In the next example,
because is a keyword in the premise and indicates that the conclusion has preceded and a reason will
follow. This premise is that fantasy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the last part of the assignment we are asked to identify the arguments as inductive or deductive. An
argument is said to be deductive if its conclusion is claimed to necessarily follow the premise. An
inductive argument claims only that its conclusion probably follows from its premises. That is, the
inferential claim is that since the premises are true or acceptable, the conclusion is likely to be true or
acceptable. (Missimer, 2005) The first and second examples are inductive because even though the
premises may be true, it is still possible for the conclusion to be false. They will then have to be
looked at to see if they are strong or weak and if all premises are true or if one or more is false. We can
then determine if the argument is reliable or unreliable. The third example is a deductive argument if
we go by the definition above. If the premises are true then it simply isn t possible for the conclusion
to be false. If you have a deductive argument and you accept the truth of the premises, then you must
also accept the truth of the conclusion; if you deny it, then you are denying logic

Imperfect Competition Essay
1.0 Introduction
In a perfectly competitive market it is assumed that owing to presence of manybuyers and many
sellers selling homogeneous products, the actions of any singlebuyer or seller has a negligible impact
on the market price of product. However in reality this situation is seldom realized. Most of the time
individual sellershave some degree of control over the price of their outputs. This condition is
referredas imperfect competition.
Barriers to entry are the factors that make it difficult for new firms to enter an industry, which lead to
imperfect competition. Mostly commonly known barriers of entry areeconomies of scale, legal
restrictions, high cost of entry and advertising and productdifferentiation.

For any one firm, within the cartel, expanding output and selling at a price thatslightly undercuts the
cartel price can achieve extra profits. Unfortunately if one firmindulges in this, the other firms will
probably same path same. If all firms break theterms of their cartel agreement, the result will be an
excess supply in the market and asharp fall in the price. Under these circumstances, a cartel agreement
might breakdown.
Fig.1 Price fixation by cartel and effect on partner of the firm
3.0 Conditions conducive for formation of cartels
1. Only a small number of firms exist in the industry and barriers prevail to entryprotect the monopoly
power of existing firms in the long run.
2. Market demand is not too variable i.e. it is reasonably predictable and not subject toerratic
fluctuations which may result to excess demand or excess supply.
3. Demand is fairly inelastic with respect to price so that a higher cartel price fetchesincreased total
revenue to suppliers in the market.
4. It is easier to monitor each firm s output. This enables the cartel more easily toregulate total supply
and identify firms, cheating on output quotas.
4.0 Reasons for possible breakdowns of cartels
Most cartel arrangements experience difficulties and tensions and some producercartels collapse
completely. Several factors can create problems within a collusiveagreement

Pablo Picasso Oil On Canvas Analysis
Pablo Picasso, Guernica, 1937, Oil on Canvas is an abstract painting showing the effects of military
and government and their people. The painting is non realistic but speaks to a theme of politics and
social order. Francisco de Goya, Executions on the Third of May, 1808, 1814 15 oil on canvas is a
stylized depiction of life during the invasion of Spain by Napoleon. Like the Picasso, this piece also
speaks to politics and social order. The line is the first noticeable difference in the two pieces. Picasso
uses very straight lines and geometric shapes, giving a feeling of end or absolution, while Goya has a
much more flowing line which lends to motion, and reality. Goya uses bright vibrant color to draw the
viewers eye the man with guns being panted at him and then to the red blood spread around below
him, while Picasso uses a gray scale and value allowing the mind to either fill in the color, or, as it
does for me, really combine it all like an explosion, and parts and pieces of each. The line and color in
Goya lends to a motion, a life, an intensity about the situation, where the lack of color, and fixed line
and geometric shape all seem stale and still. Picasso uses an implied triangle that is centered in his

Music Piracy Is Not A Victimless Crime Essay
Many people have a different way at looking at things, especially when it comes to pirating music.
Music piracy is the illegal copying or downloading of music without the consent of the artist as well
as the recording company that made the song. The question that many might argue is whether or not
music piracy is a victimless crime. This subject influenced a journalist by the name of Charles W.
Moore. Charles Moore has an interesting story. Ten years after graduating from the University of
Michigan in 1947, he began attending Princeton University, where he achieved his master s and
doctoral degree. Moore has a great collection of lifelong friends because he tends to move frequently.
Later in life he settles down a bit and becomes a writer. In Moore s essay, he argues that the illegal
downloading of music is not a victimless crime. In fact, about seventy percent of online users do not
care whether the music they listen to, the book they read, or the movie they watch, is pirated or not.
Although the author s essay contains precise information and detail, it also has some flaws that do not
help benefit his writing. For instance, his transitions do not flow well, lack of correct research, no
valid arguments, and his introduction and concluding paragraphs are lousy.
In order to be a good writer or have an effective essay, there is a requirement of a consistent flow of
thought and its overall transitions throughout it. Without easily visible transitions, an essay

First performed in 1995, Margaret Edson s play, W;t (Wit) journeys into the mind of Doctor Vivian
Bearing, a scholar of Donne s Holy Sonnets and terminally ill cancer patient. In her final two hours of
life, Bearing reflects upon her attempts to reconcile the disease and her impending death along with
her life as a professor (Edson). Edson s literature introduces us to the abstract concept of pain. While
enlightening, words alone cannot sufficiently communicate the transcendental idea. Fortunately for us,
Wit was adapted into a movie several years after its debut. This format enables us to visually conceive
the physical manifestation of pain, allowing us to create a stronger connection to the work as a whole.

should be considered a disability. It is worth noting that previous to the ADAAA, cancer was not
always considered a disability (Befort 1020). In fact, some Supreme Court rulings narrowed the
definition of disability to exclude cancer since it is not always a lasting disability ( Befort 1020 1021).
According to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the purpose of the ADAAA was
to undo the Supreme Court s decisions by extending coverage to afflictions that may be episodic like
cancer ( Fact Sheet ). Thus, Wit may not have been treated as a disability literature or cinema prior to
2008.
In relation to Wit, Bearing is disabled through both her stage IV ovarian cancer and pain. As
previously stated, cancer, under the ADAAA, can be treated as a disability since it negatively affects
normal cell growth. Although she does not originally appear to be disabled, Bearing would be
classified as disabled once diagnosed. In Nichols movie adaptation, we can further see Bearing s new
classification when despite her ability to walk the hospital forces her to use a wheelchair (13:51
14:10). The wheelchair is a common symbol representing disability, and having

How Does Haydn Influence Modern Music
Franz Joseph Haydn was from Austria and writer: he stood out among the most productive and
conspicuous authors of the Classical time frame. Haydn composed 107 ensembles altogether and also
83 string groups of four, 45 piano triplets, 62 piano solos, 14 Eucharists and 26 musical shows, among
endless different scores. Franz Joseph Haydn was among the makers of the major classifications of
traditional music, and his impact on later writers is tremendous. Haydn s most prized understudy was
Ludwig van Beethoven, and his melodic frame throws a significant shadow over the music of
consequent authors, for example, Schubert, Mendelssohn, and Brahms.

A few well known works of this period were commissions from abroad, for example, the Paris
orchestras (1785 1786) and the first instrumental adaptation of The Seven Last Words of Christ
(1786). Haydn came to feel sequestered and desolate, be that as it may, missing companions back in
Vienna, so in 1791, when another Esterházy ruler let Haydn go, he immediately acknowledged an
encouragement to go to England to direct late orchestras with German violinist and producer Johann
Peter Salomon. He would come back to London again in 1794 for another fruitful and lucrative

For the purpose of this assignment the focus will be on children and young people who are placed on
the Child Protection Register and the Integrated Children s Computer System. It will look at the
current legal, social and policy framework for the child protection register and the integrated children
s computer system and provide an analytical review on how they have been developed. Included for
each of these three areas will be an evaluation of how and why they have evolved to contain a higher
contribution from the service user and carer and the effect these have had on the delivery of anti

The law delivers the structure for social work with children and families, through a basis of duties and
powers that reinforce and deliver protective actions when necessary (Wilson et al, 2011). The Children
Act 1989 was to provide every child with the right to be safeguarded from mistreatment and the right
for investigations to take place to protect their well being. Its vital principle was that, for children, it is
more beneficial for them to be looked after within their own family if possible (Parliament, 1989). The
act did not come into force in England and Wales until 1991 although it was given royal accent in
1989. It is comprehensive and incorporates virtually all the law relating to children. The Act
introduced new principles, powers and duties on local authorities. Following the statutory guidance in
Working Together under the Children Act 1989 (Department of Health, Home Office and Department
for Education and Skills, 1999) the Child Protection Register was designed. It was a documentation of
all children in each area for whom there were unresolved child protection matters. The aim of the child
protection register was to enable agencies and professionals to be aware of those children who are
judged to be at continuing risk of Significant Harm (Department of Health, Home Office and
Department for Education and Skills, 1999). During 2004 the Children Act 1989 was overhauled and

The Similarities Between The Joint Commission (DNV)
The Similarities between the joint commission and DVN are:
Both the DNV and Joint Commission are organizations that conduct inspections and accreditations.
Accreditations have an impact on the way hospitals operate only because a hospital makes critical
decisions of how it treats diseases, assigns clinical staffing and stores its medications.
The DNV and the Joint Commission have the same goals and that is to provide the safest, highest
quality care possible to the patients.
When it comes to cost they both vary by facility size and complexity but are comparable to one
another in cost. Which could average from $33,000 for three years. The difference between the joint
commission and DVN are:

Substance Dualism Analysis
Most famously advocated by René Descartes, substance dualism is an intuitive doctrine holding that
minds, which are essentially thinking and consist of mental substance, and bodies, which necessarily
have extension and are made of material substance, are ontologically separate entities. As the mental
and material have entirely different natures, a mind cannot be equivalent to a body and human beings,
therefore, must be mixtures of the two substances. Despite lacking properties in common, minds and
bodies are connected through the capacity of each to causally affect the other (Kim 34). However,
regardless of how commonsensical and attractive this view may initially appear, Descartes and
subsequent dualists have all contended with a multitude of complications surrounding mental
causation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If conceiving of the mind as a substance independent of the physical substance of the body results in
the mind being causally secluded, then the mind has no important explanatory role and there is no
compelling reason to be a substance dualist (50). In this paper I will first describe a few strengths of
dualism and explicate the pairing problem that is raised against it. Aferward, I will evaluate the impact
of Kim s objection and argue, ultimately, that mental substance cannot feasibly be connected to
material substance in the way necessary for causal interaction without appeal to location within

Perin V. Hayne Case Summary
The case involving Perin v. Hayne seeks to determine if the defendant Dr. Robert Hayne, was in any
way negligent when he performed a surgical procedure on the plaintiff Ilene Perin, described as a
cervical fusion. This particular procedure sought to alleviate pressure, numbness, weakness and pain
in the plaintiff s back. As a result of this procedure, the plaintiff was left with vocal cord damage that
severely diminished her ability to speak above a whisper. This is supported by the reading, but
plaintiff alleged she suffered paralysis of a vocal cord because of injury to the right recurrent laryngeal
nerve during surgery (Showalter, 2017, pg.171). The plaintiff, Ilene Perin, filed suit against the
defendant Dr. Hayne, under the guise of res ipsa loquitur, specific negligence, battery and or trespass
and breach of express warranty. Applicable law and evidence must be applied in this case to determine
if there was a considerable difference between the consented surgical procedure and the surgery that
was actually done. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among other charges, the plaintiff alleges battery or trespass as one of the offenses committed by the
defendant. The question now becomes what constitutes a charge of battery and or trespass and does
this embody any of the elements or circumstances that may apply to this particular case. According to
criminal law, a battery is defined as both a tort and a crime, and involves the unlawful or unwanted
physical contact of another person. This is supported by the reading, Battery is the actual touching
(Showalter, 2017, pg.127). A trespass to person is any act that excites an apprehension of battery. This
is supported by the text, Trespass to the person is a tort which involves wrongs being done to an
individual (Trespass to the person,

The Comparison and Contrast of Developmental Theories

Throughout time the development of psychology has had many different theorists but I would like to
explore these three particular theories. * Erik Erikson s Stages of Psychosocial Development * Lev
Vygotsky s Sociocultural Theory * Jean Piagets s Stage of Cognitive Development
The three theories I have chosen to discuss are all extremely relevant ideas; although I prefer Erik
Erikson s stage of psychosocial development. Erik Erikson s theory covers a person s entire lifespan

During this time the explorations are being done and they are basing their possibilities on them. When
this is discouraged it causes confusion of themselves and their role in society. * Intimacy Versus
Isolation (18 40 years) Courting, early parenthood.
During this stage one is still exploring into young adulthood and beginning to be more intimate with
others. Individuals begin to have relationships with longer commitment with others besides family
members. When this stage is successful a person feels a sense of safety and ability to commit in a
relationship. If this stage is not accomplished they tend to fear commitment which can lead to
loneliness, isolation or depression. * Generativity Versus Stagnation (30 65 years) Middle age,
parenting.
During this stage of life one establishes their place in the workplace, makes a commitment in a
relationship, start families of their own and can now see the bigger picture of life. We continue the
cycle of life by raising our children, working in our community and being involved in activities and
organizations. When one fails this stage they become depressed and feel like their unproductive within
their society. * Ego Integrity Versus Despair (50+ years) Old age, grandparents.

Descriptive Essay On Restaurant
After a day of running the cold roads, I knew there was only one place to go that served warm home
style country food anywhere near where I was at; and that is Cracker Barrel. Cracker Barrel is an
inviting restaurant that started in 1969, in Tennessee, that has grown tremendously; however, it still
serves its customers with true southern hospitality. This chain of restaurants tries to gather all things
stereotypically southern in one place hoping to give it customers a taste of it all. This exaggerated old
southern restaurant is a place where families go to relax and play checkers while they wait on their
table or go look at the general store that is located in front of every Cracker Barrel restaurant.
As I walked in on a chilly day, I expected the air to be warm and feel welcomed but that was far from
the truth. The air was cold and the staff was hastily walking around yelling back and forth at one
another trying to organize the general store. The general store has a little bit of everything for
everyone. It has old fashioned candies, toys for all ages, dress up clothes for little kids, regular
everyday clothes for grownups, and seasonal products that rotate in and out. My favorite thing that the
general store over prices is its old fashioned candies; though the price is worth it simply because it is
candy that you cannot find anywhere else.
Making my way back to the hostess table I could already hear the waitresses talking about their
personal lives and their

demat and its importance
DEMAT
In India, shares and securities are held electronically in a Dematerialized (or Demat ) account, instead
of the investor taking physical possession of certificates. A Dematerialized account is opened by the
investor while registering with an investment broker (or sub broker). The Dematerialized account
number is quoted for all transactions to enable electronic settlements of trades to take place. Every
shareholder will have a Dematerialized account for the purpose of transacting shares.
Access to the Dematerialized account requires an internet password and a transaction password.
Transfers or purchases of securities can then be initiated. Purchases and sales of securities on the ...

Every security has an ISIN (International Securities Identification Number). A separate DRF must be
filled for each ISIN.
The complete process of dematerialisation is outlined below:
The investor surrenders the certificates for dematerialisation to the DP.
DP updates the account of the investor.
Demat options
There are many hundreds of Depository Participants (DPs) offering the Demat account facility in India
as of September 2011. A comparison of the fees charged by different DPs is detailed below.
There are a few distinct advantages of having a bank as a DP. Having a Demat account with a bank
DP, usually provides quick processing, accessibility, convenience, and online transaction capability to
the investor. Generally, banks credit the Demat account with shares in case of purchase, or credit a
savings account with the proceeds of a sale, on the third day. Banks are also advantageous because of
the number of branches they have. Some banks give the option of opening a demat account in any
branch, while others restrict themselves to a select set of branches. Some private banks also provide
online access to the demat account. Hence, the investors can conveniently check online details of their
holdings, transactions and status of requests through their bank s net banking facility. A broker who
acts as a DP may not be able to provide these services.
Fees involved
There are four major charges usually levied on a demat account: account opening fee, annual
maintenance

Compare And Contrast Nothing Gold Can Stay And The Outsiders
Imagine being separated into two different groups based on what side of town one lives on and what
one wears, then imagine having to act a certain way when one feels a whole different way. In the book
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, there are two groups, Socs and the Greasers, they have a rivalry with
each other; the Greasers are known for having bad reputations that will never go anywhere in life and
are poor, while the Socs can be disrespectful to the community, but an asset to the community the next
day, and with a lot of money. In the novel, S.E. Hinton includes Robert Frost s poem Nothing Gold
Can Stay to focus on the poem s deeper meaning. When examining Robert Frost s Nothing Gold Can
Stay and S.E. Hinton s The Outsiders, one can analyze the usage of color, lost of innocence, and
identity change. To begin with, the use of color in both the poem and the novel has a deeper meaning
than just what colors turn into other colors. In the poem, the colors are more than just the different
color cycle plants go through. The changing of colors during season changing also means the passing
of life and how everyone s growing up through the different stages of winter, spring, summer, and
autumn. In autumn one is a baby, in the winter one is six or seven in the spring one is twelve or
thirteen, in the summer one is seventeen or eighteen, and by the fall comes around one is now an adult
ready to live on their own. For example, Nature s first green is gold (Frost 1); When one is

Eat Drink Man Woman By Ang Lee Essay
Taiwanese born American filmmaker Ang Lee tells the story of a closely knit family with repressed
emotions in Taipei, Taiwan during a time of rapid modernization. Aging master chef Chu, Old Chu,
who has lost his sense of taste and his three unmarried adult daughters have a tradition of eating
elaborate Sunday dinners together. The eldest is Jia Jen a schoolteacher and a converted Christian. Jia
Chien, is the beautiful middle daughter who is a successful businesswoman. Finally, the youngest is
Jia Ning, a college student who also works at a fast food restaurant. Initially this tradition is portrayed
as a tortuous experience which the three daughters dread, but later becomes an important forum for the
family s life changing announcements. Using food as a medium Lee s film Eat Drink Man Woman
(1994) explores the themes of gender roles, family and globalization.
The title of this film Eat Drink Man Woman expresses an immediate introduction into the issues of
gender and authority. Which greatly shape the role of woman in the professional world of food which
is a predominantly male industry. This is shown through the all male staff at the Grand Hotel the
restaurant that old Chu works at. In the Grand Hotel, Chu and his best friend Old Wen are seen as two
of the most important figures within the kitchen. This is communicated in the scene when Chu is
eating his traditional Sunday dinner with his family and he gets called into work. As he strides
confidently in, he is swarmed by men

Social And Social Order In Ancient Roman Society
Social Order: In Roman culture, the society was based on heredity, property, wealth, citizenship and
freedom. Roman society was also patriarchal, where it heavily focused more on the men than women.
Women were expected to produce male heirs and look after the cleaning and maintenance of the
houses they lived in, other than that, they had less independence than men did. Your status in the
world is very important. There were different class ranks which represented a certain group of people.
These classes often interacted with each other. These classes include Slaves, Freemen, Soldiers,
Equestrians, Senators, the Nobility, and the Emperor. These class systems were heavily enforced under
the law. The laws even governed what each class wore for clothing. For example, the Emperor was the
only one allowed to wear a purple toga. Senators were allowed to wear a white toga with a broad
purple stripe along the edge, and horse riders wore togas with a narrow purple stripe. In Roman
society, there was also a system of patronage. Members of the upper class would offer protection and
freedom to freedmen and plebeians, the working class, if they became their cliens , also known as
clients. Freed slaves often became cliens to their former owners. Patronage can include money, food,
or legal help. In return, the upper classmen gained respect and political favors. Roman generals who
conquered lands became the patron to the people of that land. Roman cities and

They have also attacked patent listings in the Food and Drug Administration Orange Book and have alleged monopolization through fraud on the Patent and Trademark Office and sham litigation. Yet other cases have condemned distribution agreements as unlawful exclusive dealing. These government actions have led to substantial private class action litigation against the pharmaceutical industry. The FTC has also challenged numerous mergers and acquisitions in the industry over the last decade. One common feature in all of these cases is the need to define a relevant market. In nonmerger cases, the FTC and private plaintiffsgenerally allege narrow markets, limited to a single drug and its generic equivalent in some cases and to generic drugs excluding the bioequivalent brand name drug in other cases. In its merger challenges, on the other hand, the FTC has alleged markets ranging from those based upon a particular chemical compound, to broader markets based upon various drugs manner of interaction or dosage form, to still broader markets of all drugs used to treat a disease or condition. In numerous pharmaceutical merger challenges, the government has included in the market not only currently marketed drugs but also other drugs under development, alleging innovation markets. • 3. Alexander the Great vs Napoleon Bonaparte, What I Got so... When we think of Alexander the Great, we think of an outstanding war hero. When we think of Napoleon Bonaparte, we think, again, of an outstanding war hero. If a random person were asked who either of these rulers was, their first response would be a fact about war. Alexander and Napoleon share similarities in their warfare, and how they used it to conquer and establish new lands. Alexander the Great s strong perseverance and incredible battle strategies led to increase his power over his empire. Napoleon used his intelligence and skill of manipulation to earn respect and support from the French people, which gained him great power. Both men had similar qualities attaining leadership but their strategies to reach this were very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That wasn t enough for King Alexander; he wanted to reach the ends of the world and the Great Outer Sea . With this, he set off to invade India in 326 B.C. but was forced to turn around at the expense of his troops. Alexander the Great died in Babylon in 323 B.C.; in years following his death many civil wars broke out and tore apart his empire. Many years later, in a galaxy far far away, on the date of August 15, 1769 another war hero and emperor was born, Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon reigned over the French from May 18, 1804 to April 11, 1814 and ruled Italy over the years from March 17, 1805 to April 11, 1814. Napoleon I, Emperor of the French, set up Napoleonic Code; it was a major influence in civil law jurisdictions. Napoleon is best recognized for his role in the wars against France, known as the Napoleonic Wars. His success in these multiple battles led Napoleon to be known as one of the best military leaders of all time. His strategies and campaigns are studied at military schools around the world. Napoleon Bonaparte was born into a family of noble Italian ancestry. Napoleon settled in Corsica in the 16th century and later was trained as an artillery officer at a prestigious military school in France, where they most likely talked of Alexander the Great s military conquests and strategies. London started the 20th century as the capital of the world s largest Empire and Britain s most ruling city. In the 20th century, London had a booming economy. London had the largest industrial centre in Britain and about five million Londoners had solid jobs. London s main source of jobs was its mighty docks complex. 1 Due to London s industrialization, London began its first motor bus service in 1904, followed by the first underground electric train, the subway, in 1906. 2 Although the economy was very superior, the health of the people was not. London became one of the first megacities of the world, people were streaming in, because of London s industrial revolution. Even immigrants from other European countries were coming. Londo has about two hundred thousand people at the beginning of the 17th century, but the numbers went down drastically because of the two plagues and the Great fire. After these disasters, London rebuilt itself with houses made of brick and stone. Since this, London grew at a steady pace and is still growing. About one million people lived in London at the beginning of the industrial revolution, and it kept growing. London was the largest city in the entire world. Due to London growing at a rapid pace, she had to find some way of transportation. A result to this was the underground railway. London was the first city in the world to do so. Ultimately, it was Rader s own daughter who turned police informant, and give them a DNA sample from her cheek saliva (Hansen, 2006). Cognitive behavioral therapy provides the basis for most of these intervention style treatments, based on the assumption that dysfunctional thinking can be changed and, in turn, lead to symptomatic relief and improvement in functioning (Craske, 2010, p. 49). Cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on overriding the automatic mal adaptive pathways of depressed thought, or functions at the conscious level to effect changes in the preconscious level (Craske, 2010, p. 49). U.S. geologists discovered oil in the region in the 1930s, and since exports expanded most notably in the 1960s, production and rich revenues have been seemingly limitless. The amount of oil in Saudi Arabia s reserves amounts to close to a quarter of the world s entire oil resources, and today the country produces about 10,000 barrels a day. Andy s addiction has inflicted such tremendous stress and hurt on my parents and watching them try to help him recover from this addiction is heartbreaking. And both drugs have long half life s, meaning that they re long acting medications (Reuter, Nicholas, and Reckitt Benckiser). The chief difference between the two detoxifiers is the idea of a partial agonist versus a full agonist; methadone and heroin are full agonist where as buprenorphine is only a partial agonist (Reuter, Nicholas, and Reckitt Benckiser). Methadone, as a full mu opioid agonist, continues to produce effects on the receptors until either all receptors are fully activated, or the maximum effect is reached (Reuter, Nicholas, and Reckitt Benckiser). Whereas buprenorphine is a derivative of thebaine, an extract of opium. The drug is an opioid partial agonist and thus can produce euphoria, analgesia, and sedation associated with opiates (US Department of Justice). Essentially methadone has been proven to be more dangerous and addictive than buprenorphine, but buprenorphine has also been proven to create dependency and death. It is by their actions on opioid receptors that opioids achieve their analgesic (pain killing) as well as their addictive effects (Reuter, Nicholas, and Reckitt Benckiser). As for physical appearance almost everyone is self conscience about how they look. • 11. Economic Value Of The Good Life The difference between back then and the society we live in today, is that there are now many things that money can actually buy. By exploring the Good Life, the topic of economic value comes to mind and the question that permeates is if that thing should or should not have an economic value. It is crazy to think about some of the things that people charge others that do not have any real significance. For instance, Michael Sandel pointed how in some cities, non violent offenders can pay ninety dollars a night for a prison cell upgrade. That is an example to me that seems very pointless because if a person is a criminal why should his or hers economic status put them to a greater advantage than anybody else in that prison. Drawing from the content from this week s readings I believe that certain things should contain more economic value than other. For instance things like the internet, adoptions, health care, education, and parking are things to me that have economic value, but really shouldn t. On the contrary, things that should have economic value are things like the preservation of the environment, museums, and recreational and national parks. Things that I believe should not have such an economic value are things that to me seem essential to an individual s life. One thing that has monetary value and really shouldn t in my opinion is wifi. Paying for wifi is something that gets me furious because I truly believe that there should be free wifi anywhere you go. • 12. Balance Error Scoring System Dizziness and/or imbalance are common symptoms for athletes sustaining a concussion [1 5]. It is speculated that the acute symptoms of dizziness and/or imbalance experienced in these athletes is not actually a peripheral vestibular dysfunction (i.e., inner ear), but rather a central disruption between the vestibular system and the pathways for vision, known as a visual vestibular interaction mismatch [6 8]. This mismatch can lead to decreased gaze stability with head movements and may result in common symptom complaints of blurred vision or diplopia [9 10]. Athlete reported symptoms are a large portion of the concussion assessment battery; however, it is well known that athletes under report symptoms [11 12]. Thus, determining objective and accurate measures to help determine safe return to play on the sideline and during the return to play progression protocol appears to be a necessary task for health care professionals. Currently, balance function is most commonly assessed with a postural control measure known as the Balance Error Scoring System (BESS), which indirectly assesses vestibular sensory input. One limitation of this measure is the lack of information regarding the functional use of the visual vestibular system, specifically the vestibulo ocular reflex (VOR). The VOR allows for stable gaze during head movements [13 14] and is imperative to the athletes optimal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was apparent to Durkheim that since the French Revolution, the nation had been wracked by conflict and moral crisis (Stones, 2008). At the individual level, rising suicide rates reflected a growing sense of malaise. Durkheim s goal was to develop a sociology that would help France overcome this continuing moral crisis. Thought, language, world views, rationality, morality and aspirations are derived from society. Thus, the unsocialised individual, the individual divorced form society, the beast within us, is a poor approximation of the highly socialised beings that constitute societies. The importance of social factors over the individual can also be seen in Durkheim s work on suicide (Stones, 2008). Suicide was explained in terms of two independent variables, integration in society and regulation by society. Low levels of integration led to egoistic suicide, while low levels of regulation led to anomic suicide. Durkheim cited egoism and anomie as the main causes of suicide in the modern world; a world which he believed showed less interaction and people thinking more about themselves than others. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the last part of the assignment we are asked to identify the arguments as inductive or deductive. An argument is said to be deductive if its conclusion is claimed to necessarily follow the premise. An inductive argument claims only that its conclusion probably follows from its premises. That is, the inferential claim is that since the premises are true or acceptable, the conclusion is likely to be true or acceptable. (Missimer, 2005) The first and second examples are inductive because even though the premises may be true, it is still possible for the conclusion to be false. They will then have to be looked at to see if they are strong or weak and if all premises are true or if one or more is false. We can then determine if the argument is reliable or unreliable. The third example is a deductive argument if we go by the definition above. If the premises are true then it simply isn t possible for the conclusion to be false. The painting is non realistic but speaks to a theme of politics and social order. Francisco de Goya, Executions on the Third of May, 1808, 1814 15 oil on canvas is a stylized depiction of life during the invasion of Spain by Napoleon. Like the Picasso, this piece also speaks to politics and social order. The line is the first noticeable difference in the two pieces. Picasso uses very straight lines and geometric shapes, giving a feeling of end or absolution, while Goya has a much more flowing line which lends to motion, and reality. Goya uses bright vibrant color to draw the viewers eye the man with guns being panted at him and then to the red blood spread around below him, while Picasso uses a gray scale and value allowing the mind to either fill in the color, or, as it does for me, really combine it all like an explosion, and parts and pieces of each. • 32. Music Piracy Is Not A Victimless Crime Essay Many people have a different way at looking at things, especially when it comes to pirating music. Music piracy is the illegal copying or downloading of music without the consent of the artist as well as the recording company that made the song. The question that many might argue is whether or not music piracy is a victimless crime. This subject influenced a journalist by the name of Charles W. Moore. Charles Moore has an interesting story. Ten years after graduating from the University of Michigan in 1947, he began attending Princeton University, where he achieved his master s and doctoral degree. Moore has a great collection of lifelong friends because he tends to move frequently. Later in life he settles down a bit and becomes a writer. In Moore s essay, he argues that the illegal downloading of music is not a victimless crime. In fact, about seventy percent of online users do not care whether the music they listen to, the book they read, or the movie they watch, is pirated or not. Although the author s essay contains precise information and detail, it also has some flaws that do not help benefit his writing. For instance, his transitions do not flow well, lack of correct research, no valid arguments, and his introduction and concluding paragraphs are lousy. In order to be a good writer or have an effective essay, there is a requirement of a consistent flow of thought and its overall transitions throughout it. In fact, some Supreme Court rulings narrowed the definition of disability to exclude cancer since it is not always a lasting disability ( Befort 1020 1021). According to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the purpose of the ADAAA was to undo the Supreme Court s decisions by extending coverage to afflictions that may be episodic like cancer ( Fact Sheet ). Its vital principle was that, for children, it is more beneficial for them to be looked after within their own family if possible (Parliament, 1989). Despite lacking properties in common, minds and bodies are connected through the capacity of each to causally affect the other (Kim 34). Roman society was also patriarchal, where it heavily focused more on the men than women. Women were expected to produce male heirs and look after the cleaning and maintenance of the houses they lived in, other than that, they had less independence than men did. Your status in the world is very important. There were different class ranks which represented a certain group of people. These classes often interacted with each other. These classes include Slaves, Freemen, Soldiers, Equestrians, Senators, the Nobility, and the Emperor. These class systems were heavily enforced under the law. The laws even governed what each class wore for clothing. For example, the Emperor was the only one allowed to wear a purple toga. Senators were allowed to wear a white toga with a broad purple stripe along the edge, and horse riders wore togas with a narrow purple stripe. In Roman society, there was also a system of patronage. Members of the upper class would offer protection and freedom to freedmen and plebeians, the working class, if they became their cliens , also known as clients.
