Back Pain Research Paper
Textbooks have been around for ages, and yet they hold a lot of information, they do not contain all
that is needed. You would think with all the technology textbooks would be extinct by now. Don t you
think its about time they were replaced by some sort of electronic device? A couple of students have
already started using notebook computers instead of textbooks. In this time, textbooks are not as
sufficient since this generation practically runs on technology. With this generation, textbooks can
possibly disappear. Textbooks can weigh up to 15 pounds on a student s back. This weight can cause
backache and later turn into other problems, like scoliosis. This back pain can affect students
concentration. A study done by David Siambanes of the Inland Empire Spine Center in Riverside,
California. The study found that most students said that their back hurt from their backpacks; 64%
reported having back pain some time . In students reporting pain, about 90% said their back pain was
very bad. This back pain can cause students to lose focus and even miss class or school from the
unbearable pain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paying for textbooks every year can be very expensive, where as buying a notebook computer can last
for a while. For college students, textbooks can also pile up for every class. A single college textbook
can cause up to 200 dollars, and every year the prices go up little by little. And as for high school
textbooks, they raise the tuition for private or catholic schools. Some teachers do not use the textbooks
and many tell the students to leave them at home and to use it for homework; this being a waste of
money. Tuition could be a lot lower if textbooks weren t still being used. And if these textbooks were
to be lost or damaged, that s even more money

Analysis Of Alexander Pope s Frankenstein
Throughout history, humans have been fascinated the inherent bond that exists between ourselves and
Nature. During the eighteenth century, known also as the Reformation period, there was a push in
European society towards science and reason being the epicenter of culture. During this time,
Alexander Pope wrote the poem Essay on Man which was intended to be an outline of perennial,
universal truths. The emphasis was primarily on the nature of reason rather than Nature itself. After
this time period came the Romantic period, lasting from 1785 1832. It was in 1818 that Mary Shelley
wrote Frankenstein , also known as The Modern Prometheus , an imaginative tale about a monster
created by man. The relationships between Nature and the characters are dynamic in that they change
frequently. They appear, in many instances, to be a vehicle for expressing emotion. By examining and
writing about the way humans interact with the Nature surrounding them, Pope and Shelley made it
possible to analyze and highlight common relationships between humans and Nature during their
lifetime; for Pope and his peers, it was more about reason and ___ (word for only coming to
conclusions based on ur five senses), while during Shelley s time period, people tended to have a more
emotional relationship with Nature.
Shelley utilized imagery, metaphor, simile, and personification relative to Nature, frequently paired
with tone, in many scenes throughout Frankenstein. Whether it be to uplift or depress

Motivate, Delegate and Empower
AC 2.2
Review own ability to motivate, delegate and empower others
For any business to be successful it needs motivated employees. They are the single most important
factor in the long term success of an organisation.
Empowerment refers to the employee s feeling of being effective, in control and influential.
Furthermore, empowerment positively impacts motivation, and motivation leads to better
performance.
Maslow s hierarchy of needs provides a foundational theory. It states that all employees have some
basic needs that must first be satisfied in order to provide the framework for further motivation and
empowerment.
There are five levels in the hierarchy: * Physiological needs * Safety and security needs * Love or ...

Herzberg showed that to truly motivate an employee a business needs to create conditions that make
him or her feel fulfilled in the workplace.
Delegation is one of the most important management skills as it empowers the team member to make
decisions. However, the person who delegated the work remains accountable for the outcome of the
delegated work.
Delegation can save money and time, help in building skills, and motivate people. Poor delegation, on
the other hand, might cause frustration and confusion to all the involved parties.
Tannenbaum amp; Schmidt defined 7 levels of delegated freedom which moves from manager
oriented to subordinate oriented. As the team develops, the area of freedom for the subordinate
increases and the need for the manager s intervention decreases.
Within my team I have tried to improve motivation through several initiatives:
One member of my team seemed to be becoming disillusioned with her role and so I spent some time
with her trying to establish the root cause of this.
Having asked several questions I established that she felt bored with her daily routine and wanted a
fresh challenge.
I took notes of our meeting and produced a plan with her which involved a gradual phasing in of more
duties and a greater involvement in decision

Classical And Operant Conditioning
The behavioral model is the study of measurable, observable behavior and the way in which the
environment determines behavior. Yet, initially, most behaviorists adopted a rather extreme view that
it was impossible to scientifically measure mental process, thereby leaving observable behavior as a
psychologists only unit of analysis (Lehmiler, 2014, p. 11). The behavioral approach was a radical
departure from the dominant psychoanalytic approach leaning toward the side of nurture and giving
most of the attention to experience. The behavioral model aims to ameliorate the behavioral problems
or seek to alter behavior, this model increase control of the individual over themselves or their
environment. Corey (2016), stated the behavioral theory differed for other therapeutic approaches in
its application of principles of classical and operant conditioning (p. 233).
The classical conditioning refers to to what happens prior to learning that creates a response through
pairing (Corey, 2016, p. 235). A key figure in this learning theory is Pavlov, who conducted the
famous dog s experiment. The classical conditioning involves a particular unconditioned stimulus that
produces a specific unconditioned response, and then the original (unconditioned) stimulus is paired
frequently enough with a new conditioned stimulus that does produce identical trained behavior. Later,
both stimulus will provoke the same response autonomously.
From a broader perspective, the classical conditioning

What Was The Triple Alliance In 1914
It is human nature for people to look back at past events in retrospection, wondering if the outcome
would have changed if a decision was made differently. World War I, or the war to end all wars, began
in the summer of 1914, but it was the events leading up to it, such as the creation of alliances, which
decided the fate of the war. Alliances are formal military or political agreements between countries,
which state that the will back the other country in the event of an attack, either financially or through
declaring war. Mamy alliances were made prior to the start of World War I, and as a result, all
European countries, including central powers, were conjoined. These alliance systems were the
catalyst which created the momentum of World ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Triple Alliance was a confidential alliance, which would militarily back the other country in the
event of a conflict. Germany was the strongest power in the alliance, with a growing military, and a
strong economy 1. Italy was the weakest country of the alliance due to the fact that it had a very weak
army and navy, which had little funding, but it had a geographical advantage compared to Austria and
Germany, so it served as a military base 2. Austria Hungary benefited from the alliance because it
protected them from Russia, who had conflicts with Austria in the Balkans and Bosnia 3. Another
alliance which played a prominent role in World War I, was the Triple Entente, which consisted of
Russia, France, and Great Britain. The Triple Entente was created in 1907, which like the Triple
Alliance, protect each other from attacks from a foreign country. The Triple Entente was a very
powerful alliance due to the fact that Britain had the strongest, most technologically advanced navy,
while France had a flourishing economy 4. The Triple Entente also had a geographical advantage over
the Triple Alliance, since it had the ability to attack the Triple Alliance on either side. Tom

Civilians in space! Space travel? Not on my list. Sure, rocket ships, space, and zero gravity may sound

plus, making sure insurance can cover your safety would not be easy. Convinced yet? No? Then read
along. First of all, I would assume the cost to travel to space would not be dirt cheap. Some people
argue that the costs are overwhelming and unrealistic, as it says in paragraph 5 of Civilians In Space .
You would have to own a lot of money and only some people could not afford that. Also, the passage
says that people also point to the billions of dollars that would have to be raised through consumer or
corporate sponsorship. That might cost as much as building the Great Wall of China! Still not

The Philosophy Of Moral Relativism
In the beginning of the semester, we were given an ethical inventory and I felt fairly confident with
my results. I ve never taken an ethics class before, so I was very interested in learning about different
philosophies. I came to class with an opened mind and eager with curiosity and was intrigued by the
many different philosophical theories. This newfound information influenced my current stance when
re taking the inventory. There were a few questions which I had a change of heart in, most of these
questions circled around the philosophy of moral relativism and moral absolutism.
At the start of the course, I believed that right and wrong was not determined by one s culture. I
believed that every being acknowledges that there are certain overarching morals, i.e., thou shalt not
kill. By the end of the course, I changed my opinion on the matter; this change is influenced by the
philosopher, Ruth Benedict. Benedict s philosophy of moral relativism states that morality is culturally
relative morality is dependent upon what is socially approved, and that good varies among different
societies. Each society has their own expectations of behavior, and that in turn molds the morality of
the individual. For example, an individual being brought up in Nazi Germany will view the treatment
of Jews as normal , not batting an eye, in seeing them murdered. Nonetheless, I still stand behind my
initial idea of a universal morality but I understand and accept the role in which

The Boom Of The Sultanate Opened
Aiming at diversifying its economy, the Sultanate opened its gates to selective tourism in the late
1980s. Up until 1970, Oman had cut itself off completely from the outside world and very little was
known about the country and its people. Although Muscat had frequently been visited by trading
ships, few people had ever ventured into Oman s interior. Travel accounts of explorers like Wilfried
Thesiger in the 1940s, who was the first European to ever travel through the Rul al Khali, differ little
from those of earlier travelers such as James Wellsted and S.B. Miles in the adventurous journeys they
describe through an unknown land.
While there were no hotels in the 1970s, by the middle part of the next decade, the country boasted a
number of luxury hotels in Muscat that businessmen alone could not fill. In 1987, a cautious welcome
was extended to certain tourist groups and individual travelers. From 1997 to 1999, the number of
hotels in the country nearly doubled from fifty two to a hundred and 102, most of which were located
in Muscat, along the northern coast and in Salalah.
Omani tourism remains a relatively recent phenomenon, having cautiously been initiated in the late
1980s and gaining momentum in the middle part of the following decade. The Sultanate s tourism
development policy, which strives for quality over quantity, is evident in the building of prestigious
five star hotels such as the al Bustan Palace Hotel to house the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council
(AGCC) Summit.

19th Century American Imperialism
Industrial revolution motivated European powers like France, Germany, and Britain to expand their
imperial rule in the 19th century. They believed imperial expansion and colonial domination were
necessary for their survival of their states and societies. Modern imperialism allowed European

White colonizers believed that they had to impose their civilization on the distant lands because the
natives are uncivilized. It is the greatest possible mistake to suppose that a European can acquire a
greater influence by adopting the mode of life of the natives. In effect, it is to lower himself to their
plane, instead of elevating them to his (Capt. F.D. Lugard, 3). Imperialists viewed their beliefs as the
superior culture and if they were to adopt another culture rather than spread their, it would be a
downgrade for Europeans rather than help save the natives. Missionaries seek to introduce Christianity
to converts and other Europeans help civilized natives in political order and social stability.
Missionaries also have other benefits besides spreading Christianity. Missionaries help make
communication between imperialist and subject peoples easier, sometime provide information to
European officials on how to maintain control of oversea colonies, and their settlements also served as

There were various aspects in this investigation that had to be conducted carefully to maintain a safe

Media s Influence On The Socialization Of A Child
As media technology now offers various ways to access TV contents, such as on the Internet, cell

a Kaiser family foundation study, 8 10 year old children expose average 7 hours 51 minutes to media
in a typical day. 11 14 year old children and 15 18 year old children spend average 11 hours in a day.
(Victoria et al.) Children thoroughly perceive and accept the concepts from media, so it is the
powerful medium and cramming education method that control consciousness and create the

process of socialization of children to form personality traits and the concept of the gender.

The Impact of Globalization on Qantas Airlines Marketing...

itself across international borders makes its product more readily available to international customers
and creates employment opportunities in the country it has moved to. To understand the impacts,
globalisation, marketing (particularly market segmentation), global marketing strategies and general
history of Qantas need to be examined.
Qantas is the oldest airline in the English speaking world. It was founded by the three aviation
pioneers Hudson Fysh, Paul McGinness and Fergus McMaster as the Queensland and Northern
Territory Aerial Service in 1920 and has grown from one aircraft which offered air taxi services and
joyrides to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Qantas situational analysis (SWOT) is the first step in the marketing process whereby the strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the airline are identified. The airline s strengths include:
Being part of the Oneworld alliance, having a high safety record, being a globally recognised airline
through the use of branding and the flying kangaroo logo, purchasing the latest aircraft thus updating
technology and staying level with international competitors and the final strong success of Qantas has
come by operating out of some of the world s major air travel hubs such as Los Angeles International
Airport, London s Heathrow Airport, Singapore s Changi Airport and Sydney Kingsford Smith
International providing an excellent range of customers.
Qantas main weaknesses come from the high risk nature of airlines (possibility of crashes and large
scale incidents), the complexity of the aircraft they buy which could lead to costs of re training pilots
to fly that particular aircraft and may lead to higher labour and the recent string of incidents have

My Experience Abroad
What was the best part of your experience abroad?
I don t have enough positive words to describe my experience abroad. Being forced to adapt to a
different academic style made me grow as a student, and being exposed to different cultures has
opened me up to a world I never could have imagined. I was fortunate enough to travel to many
different European countries during my time abroad, and each one was more incredible than the last. I
think the best part of my experience abroad was living in London. I absolutely loved city life. The
tube has to be one of the world s greatest inventions, and it s incredible how small and homey such a
big place can feel when everything is easily connected.
What did you dislike about it?
Overall, my experience abroad was amazing. If I had to pick something to complain about, it would
likely be the third party program that I was a part of. Many students, along with myself, experienced
communication issues with the program provider, and the company didn t often accept responsibility
for the mistakes that they made throughout my time abroad. That being said, these incidents didn t
affect my experience enough that I regret choosing their program. I think in the future, I would just
advise other students to ask more questions and get everything in writing to avoid these problems.
How has your study abroad experience contributed to your development academically and personally?
While studying at City, University of London, I was fortunate

Abstract
This paper is about the benefits of a comprehensive control program. It will also talk about what
would be the benefits from a control program. It will also talk about what procedures should be taken
into consideration for the controls, including independent checks, and a system for the documents and
records. It will go into talking about a fraud hotline program to help detect fraud and also preventing
fraud.

Animal Testing Is Necessary
Is it really necessary for animals to be used for medical research? This question still remains, yet to be
answered. It is a matter of opinion one would think. However if you look closer there is a lot more to
it than opinion. People that feel sorry for animals usually are the ones that don t agree with animal
testing. That is where it starts. Scientists use animal testing as a way to find cures. Animal testing
helps them figure out what will work and not work on humans. It helps find cures faster and prevent
deaths. Although some people believe that is true, I have a different opinion on it all. This testing hasn
t help as many people as you may think.Just because animals are living breathing creatures like
humans, doesn t mean their systems are anything like ours. There has been so many tests done on

Most of the animals used for research are rats, mice, and hamsters. Sometimes dogs, cats, goats,
monkeys, and rabbits are also used. For decades animal research has been misused. Although some
researchers have achieved medical advances, there should be other means of research. Testing on
animals is cruel, inhumane, and often unnecessary.
Some people believe that research involving animals is essential to improving the health of humans.
They would suggest, that every advance in the 20th century is due to the use of animal testing. They
also suggest that animal research holds the key for solutions to AIDS, cancer, and heart diseases.
However, there should be other ways of research because animal research is cruel and inhumane. This
would involve terrible painful experiments on monkeys and the fact that the laboratories the animals
must live in are filthy. Usually animals are limited to living in tiny metal cages where they can barely
move. Animals are captured to go to the factory to be bred, then go to the confinement and isolation of

Nevada Constitution Vs. Nevada
The Nevada constitution is the document that governs the citizens of the state of Nevada. In general,
state constitutions are usually much longer than the United States constitution and Nevada s
constitution, which was sanctioned in 1864, is one of the state constitutions that fall into that category.
When comparing the two, Nevada s constitution is just short of being twice the length of the United
States constitution, but Nevada is still shorter than the constitution of twenty six other states. The
reason Nevada s constitution has such length is because of the in depth parts it contains, which are
protracted from the provisions of the United States constitution. The reason for Nevada s constitution

Benjamin Franklin s Influence On American History
Discoveries, Historical Events and Evolution took place mostly in the eighteenth century. Benjamin
Franklin was one of the many people to discover new outcomes in science experiments, take part of
important historical events in the newborn America and was the main reason why America evolved as
an Independent Nation today. The thirteen colonies was ruled by the British in the eighteenth century.
These colonies were located along the eastern coast of America. The colonies started at New
Hampshire and ended in Georgia. Benjamin was born on January 6, 1706, in Boston, Massachusetts.

machine for the whole city to use. Since they received this donation, Ben and a couple of his friends

philadelphians. Franklin wrote a book on his studies on electricity in 1751, this copy went through
three different languages including english. One of his experiments on electricity was trying to
identify the difference between thunderbolts and electricity. Ben flew a kite in a dangerous
thunderstorm in france on June tenth, 1752. With the help of his son, William, they hooked up his kite
to a silk string, tying an metal key to where the bolt would strike it. Ben s educated guess was that the
lightning itself was an electrical phenomenon, and the electrical effect of the lightning bolt striking it
might be able to transfer to another object. Also the causes and effects in the experiment could be
recognized as electricity. Concluding this experiment, it successfully showed that the energy from the
bolt was static energy. Ben grew more popularity conducting this

Analysis of Bladerunner Essay
Introduction
In the science of studying media and communication, there are many different ways of approaching
the subject in which you are going to analyse. That is to analyse advertisements, texts, TV series, films
etc. and other media. My task for this assignment is to give an analysis of a film of my choice. A film
is a quite complex medium to analyse; thus it is important to have analysis quot;tools quot; or some
criteria to follow. In my analysis I am asked to consider the use and resolution of binary opposition
and through analysis of narrative structure. In my assignment I am going to consider how the couple is
represented, and how the narrative structure and binary oppositions have influence on the plot of the

According to Todorov (in O Shaugnessy, 1999, p. 107) there is a basic standard to narratives. In the
start of the narrative, there is a stable situation (equilibrium) that is disrupted (disequilibrium) by a
quot;villainous force quot; (Todorov in Taylor, L., amp; Willis, A., 1999, p. 76). This stable situation is
restored in the end of the narrative. Or as O Sullivan et al. says quot;A meets B; something happens;
order returns quot; (O Sullivan et al., 1994, p. 195).
According to Turner quot;most films start by establishing the lines of conflict which will determine or
motivate the events and actions of the story quot;(1988, p.85). The opening sequence of Blade Runner
displays the main conflict. Holden, who is a human interrogator, is killed by the replicant Leon. These
are opposing forces that set the main conflict or the plot of the story.
However, this theory is not too easy to apply to Blade Runner. The movie does not start with what
Todorov calls equilibrium (O Shaughnessey, 1999, p 107). In BR the equilibrium is quite diffuse.
Even though the situation is going to get more unstable throughout the movie, there is a lack of
stability, or plenitude, here. Deckard is in the middle of the chaos existing in Los Angeles in 2019, in a
hostile atmosphere.
The disequilibrium starts when Roy and Leon (two replicants) enter the eye laboratory of the Tyrell
Corporation. It is the first time in the film we encounter the replicants cold and

Social Issues In Social Work
Many problems remain in the American society such as the increasing number of people living in
poverty, the juvenile crime rate, unaffordable housing for the working middle class and poor people,
backlash against illegal immigration, and the shortfall in social welfare programs (black). Social
workers try to combat these problems, which are a result of society, economics, and development
problems. Social work in the United States is a profession about promoting and offering social
services through practicing with people, communities, and organizations; advocating with and for
clients; and creating social work knowledge (Writing in social work). Social work in the United States
utilized the direct practice with individuals, families, and communities. Social workers need to
continue to advocate for social problems (Writing in social work).
During poor law times, society aimed to exclude and discriminate against those who don t belong
(red). This trend has continued through today, as the exclusion of people still exists. The legacy of
workhouses and of the Poor Law remains today in the ideology that the family should be the main
provider of care for those in need, poor people should be deterred from seeking help, and public
assistance should be below the minimum wage (red).
In the 19th century, Rescue organizations emerged to prevent child cruelty (red). These organizations
were a voluntary effort with the task of investigating and bringing justice to child cruelty. Today, we

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bio Composite
Through research about composite and bio composite, there are many advantage and disadvantages in
aircraft construction. Definition for composite, a material that are made from two or more constituent
materials with significantly different physical or chemical properties when combined, produce a
material with characteristic different from the individual components. The individual components
remain separate and distinct within the finished structure. In aircraft, the first composite aircraft was in
1916, era of World War 1, when British launched a Bristol Scout from Felixstowe. Between the World
War, American experiments with airship composites led to the construction of two aircraft carriers,
while the British Short Mayo seaplane composite demonstrated successful transatlantic mail delivery.
During the Second World War, some composites saw operational use including the Mistel, the larger
unmanned component of a composite aircraft configuration developed in Germany at the end of World
War 2. Experiments continued into the jet age, with large aircraft carrying fully capable parasite
fighters or reconnaissance drones.

The Development Of The Fisheries And Tourism On The...
The development of the fisheries and the tourist trade, writes Connie Chiang in Shaping the Shoreline:
Fisheries and Tourism on the Monterey Coast, illuminates the deeply entangled social and
environmental histories that together transformed Monterey through time. Thus the central
contribution of Chiang s book is illuminating the intersection of social and environmental history from
the perspective of an environmental history. The environmental story deals with the fisheries,
canneries, and eventual aquarium celebrating the environment and Monterey s past. Central to the
social story are the conflicts and interactions between people of different gender, class, race, and
ethnicity. While Chiang beautifully intersects the two historical subfields, attention to the intersection
of social categories was lacking. Throughout the book, there were brief moments of intersectional
analysis that greatly contributed to the text. However, these were few and far between. I demonstrate
that had Chiang used the rich intersectional understanding of society on the Monterey more often, the
book would have been greatly strengthened. Moments where Chiang does acknowledge the
intersecting identities of Monterey inhabitants and visitors help to strengthen her book. The moment
where this first appears is in her discussion of Chinese immigrants to Monterey. Working class women
of color experienced a combination of racism and misogyny unique to their social position. A travel

Essay On Fourier Analysis
In numerical analysis, explicit and implicit approaches are used to obtain numerical approximations of
time dependent ordinary and partial differential equations. Fractional order differential equations are
used widely for finance market analysis. Implicit solution methods require more computational efforts
and are complex to program. In order to overcome these difficulties, explicit method for fractional
order differential equation has been introduced which is one of the most recently developed areas in
the world of finance. The main aim of this paper is to investigate stability of Fractional Explicit
method for qth order time fractional Black Schols equation by the well known Fourier analysis
method and a numerical experiment is presented for comparison of European call option prices for

Computerized Data Acquisition of a Second Order Reaction Abstract Introduction The rates at which
reactions occur depend on the composition and the temperature of the reaction mixture. Usually the

There are many reactions that have a rate law in the form of: (1) v = k[A]a[B]b According to

law of this nature is the order of the reaction with respect to that species. In equation (1) first order

Law Of Conservation Of Mass Essay
The purpose of this lab was to test the law of conservation of mass by comparing the total mass of the
reactants in a chemical reaction with the total mass of the product.
If the mass of the reactants are compared to the mass of the products, then the mass will stay the same
because the law of conservation of mass states that in any given chemical reaction, the total mass of
the reactants equals the total mass of the products.
1. For Table 1 the difference between the reactants and the product was zero grams. One possible
explanation as to why the mass stayed the same, was that there was a rubber stopper covering the top
of the Erlenmeyer flask. This resulted in the mass to staying the same because it stopped the gas that
was formed from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the Law of Conservation of Mass states, in any given chemical reaction, the total mass
of the reactants equal the total mass of the products. In Part B the total mass of the reactants did not
equal the total mass of the products. There was in fact a difference of 0.62grams between the reactants
and the produced mass.
When you mix Tap water and an Antacid Tablet the results are production of gas. Gas can be harmful
and can escape very easily out of a container. The gas will go into the air and will remain there
causing the air to be harmful. One safe way to collect this gas is to place a balloon over the container.
The gas will rise up and inflate the balloon and the gas will remain sealed in the balloon. This is a safe
way to extract the gas as it will make sure none of the gas can escape to harm people.
The results are accurate for Part A because Part A follows the law of conservation of mass. This means
that the total mass of the reactants would be equal to the total mass of the products, and in Part A this
did occur. The results for Part B are accurate because gas was formed and unlike Part A, the beaker
was not covered with a rubber stopper. This resulted in the gas escaping and causing a loss of

Periodic Trends Of Chemical Properties
Periodic Trends of Chemical and Physical Properties in Group 1A and 7A
Hamish Thomson, Chemistry 11.2, Mr Ryan O Sullivan
Intro:
In chemistry, there are two classes of observable properties matter can display; chemical and physical.
These properties are classified by what needs to happen to the substance before the property becomes
evident. Chemical properties require a chemical change while physical properties don t need a
chemical change to occur. Four properties of the alkali metals and halogens will be talked about
through this essay, two chemical and two physical. The two chemical properties will be reactivity, how
willing a substance is to undergo a chemical change and toxicity, the ability of a substance to cause
damage to an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Fig 1 the reactivity of Non Metals decreases every period and increases every group, the halogens
lie on the end of the group of Non metals causing them to be highly reactive. The alkali metals have a
single electron in their outer electron shell, making it easy for them to become a noble gas and period
down the periodic table the easier it is to get rid of the extra electron, causing the alkali metals to
become more reactive the further down the periods. To become a noble gas a halogen must gain an
electron, the farther away the outer shell is from the nucleus, the more energy that is required for an
electron to enter the shell. Halogens need one more electron to become a noble gas, while alkali
metals need to donate an electron to become a noble gas. (Johnsonburg High School, n.d.) Fig 1. This
shows the trends of the reactivity of Metals and non metals on the periodic table.
Paragraph 3. Toxicity
Toxicity is how dangerous a substance is to an organism, it is commonly measured by the amount
required to kill 50% of the population of a given organism. The toxicity of the alkali metals increases
each period, due to the increase in reactivity. The toxicity of the halogens decreases as you go down
until astatine, which is harmful due to radioactivity (Helmenstine, 2017).
Paragraph 4. What is a physical property:
A physical property is a property of matter that can be observed without causing a

Aristotle s Impact On Macbeth
Aristotle had quite a few remarks on the idea and thought of character, especially in genres such as
tragedies. In Aristotle s opinion, a variety of aspects makes a tragedy, a tragedy, such as the
incorporation of a tragic figure who happens to have a tragic flaw that leads to the character s demise.
He also believes that a tragedy should have what is known as a dramatic irony, which occurs when the
audiences knows information the characters in the play does not, thus changing the watcher s
perception of the overall story. However, even when Aristotle s expectations of tragedies are oddly
specific, it is generally applicable to other tragedies of literary merit, such as stories from Shakespeare
and provides an insight as to how the taste and social structure of the ancient Greek times was
influenced heavily by the contemporary tragedies.
Aristotle s statements and definition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Macbeth, the tragic hero would definitely be Macbeth himself who had one fateful flaw that
determined his future: his unchecked ambition. Due to this one tragic flaw in the makings, Macbeth
went from a bright future as king to his demise, which eventually lead to his death. Because of the
events that occurred in the latter half of Macbeth s life, the play evokes pity, albeit a little undeserved,
from the audience as Macbeth accepts his doom. Furthermore, the playwright elicits fear from the
watchers, which is caused by their fear of committing the same mistake as Macbeth. Aristotle believed
that inciting fear and pity from the audience is part of what makes a tragedy, a tragedy. To strengthen
the impact of the play, dramatic irony is employed, in which the audience can hear monologues
spoken by the actors about their actions. This thus changes the audience s perception of a character s

Evil And Innocence In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales
Evil is a word that is rooted in thoughts, and actions. The concept of evil is a convoluted force. In
Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, morals are reexamined through each tale. Chaucer discusses moral
evil and its relevance to innocence, specifically in the Pardoner s Tale, with the three rakes, and in the
Prioress Tale, with the young boy. The seducing of innocence to become dishonorable is evil. All
things wicked start from innocence. Innocence is beautiful. The three rakes and the young boy
illustrate the most simplest form of innocence which reserves the revelation of evil. In the Pardoner s
Tale, the three rakes insist on discovering who smote the man s heart in two (Chaucer 355). The
murder, Death is dangerous and the rakes courageously took this opportunity to help themselves and
others from the danger. This demonstrates the rakes ability to want to improve other people s lives
while also showcasing the righteousness they contain. The murderer, Death, shall be slain and the
three men pledged their word of honor to live and die for the other,/ as though each were the other s
brother born (357). Chaucer demonstrates the virtue these men have for themselves and for each other.
Although, they drink too much they still embody supportive and honorable friends. The hope that
death shall be dead, if they catch him (357) depicts the beauty in their hopes and innocence. The
beauty of the widow s son, seven years of age, in the Prioress Tale, paints the unknown virtue during
the walk to and from school. The mother has always teaches her son to worship our blissful Lady,/
Christ s dear Mother, and he did not forget it (373). Chaucer proves that innocent children will always
learn quickly (373). The young child studies his book and he heard the Alma redemptoris being sung.
The young child innocent and interested, listened to the words and notes/ until he knew the first verse
all by heart (373). However, the innocent boy does not at all what this Latin meant,/since he was of so
young and tender an age (375). Chaucer makes known that this young boy is intelligent and innocent
as he listens to his mother and is curious for his age. The innocence in the rakes and the young boy is
beautiful and tender,

Rhetorical Analysis Of Bassackwards
Rhetorical Analysis of Bassackwards Bassackwards by Jay Nordlinger, published by National Review
Digital on January 29, 2007, is a short article arguing why immigrants should learn to speak English
instead of supervisors learning the broken version of their language. Although Nordlinger wants
immigrants from all around the world to learn English, he mainly focuses his writing on immigrants of
Latin descent who speak Spanish. He talks about all the variations of Spanish that are taught to
supervisors and business owners to help them communicate with their workers. There are classes such
as Restaurant Spanish, Fireman Spanish, and Health Care Spanish. He then gives us an example of
Construction Spanish which is the most popular, by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is done throughout the text because Nordlinger wants to make some kind of change in society
through the use of critical humor. The name of the article Bassackwards is a perfect example of this
scenario. The first thing someone sees when reading a book or article is the title. Nordlinger
capitalizes on this by using word play to give off the intended effect of amusement. Bassackwards the
title of Nordlinger s article is the backward version of ass backwards which means backwards or in a
contrary way. The title is very appropriate for the article because the whole article is about how we
mishandle the Spanish immigrant situation in America, and force our supervisors and business owners
to learn Spanish, instead of it being the other way around. Therefore by naming this article
Bassackwards not only does he uses satire but also gives the reader an insight of what it will be about.
Another great use of satire by Nordlinger is when he talks about a situation that occurred at the time
he was working at a firm in Washington, D.C. He was told that, when he wanted boxes thrown away,
he had to mark them BASURA. Nordlinger rebelled at writing BASURA, thinking it s a gross act of
separatism, and probably an insult to the workers. He later on justifies his actions by saying In
Guatemala, we would write BASURA. But here we write TRASH. This is very effective because it
makes the reader realize how ridiculous it is to write BASURA for American workers. Even though
they come from different countries and speak different language they must learn English ...to join the

my favorite summer vacation getaways
Have you ever been on a vacation outside of the United States? Vacations can be very enjoyable, fun,
and memorable. There are many different vacation destinations that attract visitors and tourists today.
Two of my favorite vacations were during the summer months following my completion of fifth and
sixth grade. When I was in fifth grade, our family vacationed at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas.
We went to Wildwood Crest, New Jersey the following year after I completed sixth grade. These
destinations are similar in many ways but also have a lot of differences. The Atlantis Resort is located
on the island of the Bahamas. You may have seen commercials advertising Atlantis on TV or maybe
you have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of taxis, Wildwood has trolleys that take you to and from the boardwalk. Atlantis and
Wildwood are both very different and at the same time they are similar. Similarly, they both are
vacation places that attract many visitors and foreigners. Both also have a lot of activities for all ages
and each has numerous water activities. People go to both of these resorts to vacation and enjoy the
beach and water activities. While the Atlantic Ocean surrounds both Atlantis and Wildwood, the color
of the water is completely different and its temperature is also different. The ocean water in Atlantis is
so clear that I can see to the bottom of the ocean, but the water in Wildwood is darker and not as clear
to allow me to see to the bottom. It s easy to figure out why people vacation at beach resorts. These
places give people on vacation a lot of fun activities to do and let people relax if they want to. There
are a lot of fun memories made at beach resorts and it doesn t matter if they are in the Bahamas or in
New Jersey. Summer vacations always have been about going to the beach and having a lot of fun
activities to do while with my family and friends. I will always remember all the good memories from
Atlantis and Wildwood and hope there will be a lot

  • 2. Back Pain Research Paper Textbooks have been around for ages, and yet they hold a lot of information, they do not contain all that is needed. You would think with all the technology textbooks would be extinct by now. Don t you think its about time they were replaced by some sort of electronic device? A couple of students have already started using notebook computers instead of textbooks. In this time, textbooks are not as sufficient since this generation practically runs on technology. With this generation, textbooks can possibly disappear. Textbooks can weigh up to 15 pounds on a student s back. This weight can cause backache and later turn into other problems, like scoliosis. This back pain can affect students concentration. A study done by David Siambanes of the Inland Empire Spine Center in Riverside, California. The study found that most students said that their back hurt from their backpacks; 64% reported having back pain some time . In students reporting pain, about 90% said their back pain was very bad. This back pain can cause students to lose focus and even miss class or school from the unbearable pain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some teachers do not use the textbooks and many tell the students to leave them at home and to use it for homework; this being a waste of money. • 4. Analysis Of Alexander Pope s Frankenstein Throughout history, humans have been fascinated the inherent bond that exists between ourselves and Nature. During the eighteenth century, known also as the Reformation period, there was a push in European society towards science and reason being the epicenter of culture. During this time, Alexander Pope wrote the poem Essay on Man which was intended to be an outline of perennial, universal truths. The emphasis was primarily on the nature of reason rather than Nature itself. After this time period came the Romantic period, lasting from 1785 1832. It was in 1818 that Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein , also known as The Modern Prometheus , an imaginative tale about a monster created by man. The relationships between Nature and the characters are dynamic in that they change frequently. They appear, in many instances, to be a vehicle for expressing emotion. By examining and writing about the way humans interact with the Nature surrounding them, Pope and Shelley made it possible to analyze and highlight common relationships between humans and Nature during their lifetime; for Pope and his peers, it was more about reason and ___ (word for only coming to conclusions based on ur five senses), while during Shelley s time period, people tended to have a more emotional relationship with Nature. Shelley utilized imagery, metaphor, simile, and personification relative to Nature, frequently paired with tone, in many scenes throughout Frankenstein. Whether it be to uplift or depress ... Furthermore, empowerment positively impacts motivation, and motivation leads to better performance. Maslow s hierarchy of needs provides a foundational theory. Herzberg showed that to truly motivate an employee a business needs to create conditions that make him or her feel fulfilled in the workplace. Delegation is one of the most important management skills as it empowers the team member to make decisions. However, the person who delegated the work remains accountable for the outcome of the delegated work. Delegation can save money and time, help in building skills, and motivate people. Poor delegation, on the other hand, might cause frustration and confusion to all the involved parties. Tannenbaum amp; Schmidt defined 7 levels of delegated freedom which moves from manager oriented to subordinate oriented. As the team develops, the area of freedom for the subordinate increases and the need for the manager s intervention decreases. Within my team I have tried to improve motivation through several initiatives: One member of my team seemed to be becoming disillusioned with her role and so I spent some time with her trying to establish the root cause of this. Having asked several questions I established that she felt bored with her daily routine and wanted a fresh challenge. • 6. Classical And Operant Conditioning The behavioral model is the study of measurable, observable behavior and the way in which the environment determines behavior. Yet, initially, most behaviorists adopted a rather extreme view that it was impossible to scientifically measure mental process, thereby leaving observable behavior as a psychologists only unit of analysis (Lehmiler, 2014, p. 11). The behavioral approach was a radical departure from the dominant psychoanalytic approach leaning toward the side of nurture and giving most of the attention to experience. The behavioral model aims to ameliorate the behavioral problems or seek to alter behavior, this model increase control of the individual over themselves or their environment. Corey (2016), stated the behavioral theory differed for other therapeutic approaches in its application of principles of classical and operant conditioning (p. 233). The classical conditioning refers to to what happens prior to learning that creates a response through pairing (Corey, 2016, p. 235). A key figure in this learning theory is Pavlov, who conducted the famous dog s experiment. The classical conditioning involves a particular unconditioned stimulus that produces a specific unconditioned response, and then the original (unconditioned) stimulus is paired frequently enough with a new conditioned stimulus that does produce identical trained behavior. Later, both stimulus will provoke the same response autonomously. From a broader perspective, the classical conditioning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Philosophy Of Moral Relativism In the beginning of the semester, we were given an ethical inventory and I felt fairly confident with my results. I ve never taken an ethics class before, so I was very interested in learning about different philosophies. I came to class with an opened mind and eager with curiosity and was intrigued by the many different philosophical theories. This newfound information influenced my current stance when re taking the inventory. There were a few questions which I had a change of heart in, most of these questions circled around the philosophy of moral relativism and moral absolutism. At the start of the course, I believed that right and wrong was not determined by one s culture. I believed that every being acknowledges that there are certain overarching morals, i.e., thou shalt not kill. By the end of the course, I changed my opinion on the matter; this change is influenced by the philosopher, Ruth Benedict. Benedict s philosophy of moral relativism states that morality is culturally relative morality is dependent upon what is socially approved, and that good varies among different societies. Each society has their own expectations of behavior, and that in turn molds the morality of the individual. For example, an individual being brought up in Nazi Germany will view the treatment of Jews as normal , not batting an eye, in seeing them murdered. • 13. The Boom Of The Sultanate Opened Aiming at diversifying its economy, the Sultanate opened its gates to selective tourism in the late 1980s. Up until 1970, Oman had cut itself off completely from the outside world and very little was known about the country and its people. Although Muscat had frequently been visited by trading ships, few people had ever ventured into Oman s interior. Travel accounts of explorers like Wilfried Thesiger in the 1940s, who was the first European to ever travel through the Rul al Khali, differ little from those of earlier travelers such as James Wellsted and S.B. Miles in the adventurous journeys they describe through an unknown land. While there were no hotels in the 1970s, by the middle part of the next decade, the country boasted a number of luxury hotels in Muscat that businessmen alone could not fill. In 1987, a cautious welcome was extended to certain tourist groups and individual travelers. From 1997 to 1999, the number of hotels in the country nearly doubled from fifty two to a hundred and 102, most of which were located in Muscat, along the northern coast and in Salalah. Omani tourism remains a relatively recent phenomenon, having cautiously been initiated in the late 1980s and gaining momentum in the middle part of the following decade. The Sultanate s tourism development policy, which strives for quality over quantity, is evident in the building of prestigious five star hotels such as the al Bustan Palace Hotel to house the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (AGCC) Summit. ... Franklin wrote a book on his studies on electricity in 1751, this copy went through three different languages including english. One of his experiments on electricity was trying to identify the difference between thunderbolts and electricity. Ben flew a kite in a dangerous thunderstorm in france on June tenth, 1752. With the help of his son, William, they hooked up his kite to a silk string, tying an metal key to where the bolt would strike it. Ben s educated guess was that the lightning itself was an electrical phenomenon, and the electrical effect of the lightning bolt striking it might be able to transfer to another object. Also the causes and effects in the experiment could be recognized as electricity. Concluding this experiment, it successfully showed that the energy from the bolt was static energy. In the start of the narrative, there is a stable situation (equilibrium) that is disrupted (disequilibrium) by a quot;villainous force quot; (Todorov in Taylor, L., amp; Willis, A., 1999, p. 76). This stable situation is restored in the end of the narrative. Or as O Sullivan et al. says quot;A meets B; something happens; order returns quot; (O Sullivan et al., 1994, p. 195). According to Turner quot;most films start by establishing the lines of conflict which will determine or motivate the events and actions of the story quot;(1988, p.85). The opening sequence of Blade Runner displays the main conflict. Holden, who is a human interrogator, is killed by the replicant Leon. These are opposing forces that set the main conflict or the plot of the story. However, this theory is not too easy to apply to Blade Runner. The movie does not start with what Todorov calls equilibrium (O Shaughnessey, 1999, p 107). In BR the equilibrium is quite diffuse. Even though the situation is going to get more unstable throughout the movie, there is a lack of stability, or plenitude, here. Deckard is in the middle of the chaos existing in Los Angeles in 2019, in a hostile atmosphere. Social Issues In Social Work Many problems remain in the American society such as the increasing number of people living in poverty, the juvenile crime rate, unaffordable housing for the working middle class and poor people, backlash against illegal immigration, and the shortfall in social welfare programs (black). Social workers try to combat these problems, which are a result of society, economics, and development problems. Social work in the United States is a profession about promoting and offering social services through practicing with people, communities, and organizations; advocating with and for clients; and creating social work knowledge (Writing in social work). Social work in the United States utilized the direct practice with individuals, families, and communities. Social workers need to continue to advocate for social problems (Writing in social work). During poor law times, society aimed to exclude and discriminate against those who don t belong (red). This trend has continued through today, as the exclusion of people still exists. The legacy of workhouses and of the Poor Law remains today in the ideology that the family should be the main provider of care for those in need, poor people should be deterred from seeking help, and public assistance should be below the minimum wage (red). The development of the fisheries and the tourist trade, writes Connie Chiang in Shaping the Shoreline: Fisheries and Tourism on the Monterey Coast, illuminates the deeply entangled social and environmental histories that together transformed Monterey through time. Thus the central contribution of Chiang s book is illuminating the intersection of social and environmental history from the perspective of an environmental history. The environmental story deals with the fisheries, canneries, and eventual aquarium celebrating the environment and Monterey s past. Central to the social story are the conflicts and interactions between people of different gender, class, race, and ethnicity. While Chiang beautifully intersects the two historical subfields, attention to the intersection of social categories was lacking. Throughout the book, there were brief moments of intersectional analysis that greatly contributed to the text. However, these were few and far between. I demonstrate that had Chiang used the rich intersectional understanding of society on the Monterey more often, the book would have been greatly strengthened. Moments where Chiang does acknowledge the intersecting identities of Monterey inhabitants and visitors help to strengthen her book. The moment where this first appears is in her discussion of Chinese immigrants to Monterey. If the mass of the reactants are compared to the mass of the products, then the mass will stay the same because the law of conservation of mass states that in any given chemical reaction, the total mass of the reactants equals the total mass of the products. 1. For Table 1 the difference between the reactants and the product was zero grams. This is because the Law of Conservation of Mass states, in any given chemical reaction, the total mass of the reactants equal the total mass of the products. In Part B the total mass of the reactants did not equal the total mass of the products. There was in fact a difference of 0.62grams between the reactants and the produced mass. When you mix Tap water and an Antacid Tablet the results are production of gas. Gas can be harmful and can escape very easily out of a container. The gas will go into the air and will remain there causing the air to be harmful. One safe way to collect this gas is to place a balloon over the container. The gas will rise up and inflate the balloon and the gas will remain sealed in the balloon. This is a safe way to extract the gas as it will make sure none of the gas can escape to harm people. The results are accurate for Part A because Part A follows the law of conservation of mass. This means that the total mass of the reactants would be equal to the total mass of the products, and in Part A this did occur. The results for Part B are accurate because gas was formed and unlike Part A, the beaker was not covered with a rubber stopper. This resulted in the gas escaping and causing a loss of ... Chemical properties require a chemical change while physical properties don t need a chemical change to occur. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Fig 1 the reactivity of Non Metals decreases every period and increases every group, the halogens lie on the end of the group of Non metals causing them to be highly reactive. The alkali metals have a single electron in their outer electron shell, making it easy for them to become a noble gas and period down the periodic table the easier it is to get rid of the extra electron, causing the alkali metals to become more reactive the further down the periods. To become a noble gas a halogen must gain an electron, the farther away the outer shell is from the nucleus, the more energy that is required for an electron to enter the shell. Halogens need one more electron to become a noble gas, while alkali metals need to donate an electron to become a noble gas. (Johnsonburg High School, n.d.) Fig 1. This shows the trends of the reactivity of Metals and non metals on the periodic table. Paragraph 3. Toxicity Toxicity is how dangerous a substance is to an organism, it is commonly measured by the amount required to kill 50% of the population of a given organism. He also believes that a tragedy should have what is known as a dramatic irony, which occurs when the audiences knows information the characters in the play does not, thus changing the watcher s perception of the overall story. • 44. Evil And Innocence In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales Evil is a word that is rooted in thoughts, and actions. The concept of evil is a convoluted force. In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, morals are reexamined through each tale. Chaucer discusses moral evil and its relevance to innocence, specifically in the Pardoner s Tale, with the three rakes, and in the Prioress Tale, with the young boy. The seducing of innocence to become dishonorable is evil. All things wicked start from innocence. Innocence is beautiful. The three rakes and the young boy illustrate the most simplest form of innocence which reserves the revelation of evil. In the Pardoner s Tale, the three rakes insist on discovering who smote the man s heart in two (Chaucer 355). The murder, Death is dangerous and the rakes courageously took this opportunity to help themselves and others from the danger. This demonstrates the rakes ability to want to improve other people s lives while also showcasing the righteousness they contain. The murderer, Death, shall be slain and the three men pledged their word of honor to live and die for the other,/ as though each were the other s brother born (357). Chaucer demonstrates the virtue these men have for themselves and for each other. Although, they drink too much they still embody supportive and honorable friends. The hope that death shall be dead, if they catch him (357) depicts the beauty in their hopes and innocence. The beauty of the widow s son, seven years of age, in the Prioress Tale, paints the unknown virtue during the walk to and from school. The mother has always teaches her son to worship our blissful Lady,/ Christ s dear Mother, and he did not forget it (373). Chaucer proves that innocent children will always learn quickly (373). The young child studies his book and he heard the Alma redemptoris being sung. The young child innocent and interested, listened to the words and notes/ until he knew the first verse all by heart (373). However, the innocent boy does not at all what this Latin meant,/since he was of so young and tender an age (375).
