The 95% confidence interval indicates that since 1995 the average age of tourists has increased
between 0.85 and 4.69 years. As expected, the age of tourists in Katatonia has increased since 1995. In
a random sample of 250 tourists in Katatonia, the average age was 41.43 years (s = 15.93 years). This
is lower than the average age of 45 years recorded in 1995, and a one sample t test shows that this
difference in mean age is significant, t(249) = 3.55, p lt; .001. The 95% confidence interval indicates
that since 1995 the average age of tourists has decreased by between 1.59 and 5.56 years. Contrary to
expectations, the age of tourists in Katatonia has decreased since 1995. In a random sample of 250
tourists in Katatonia, the average age was 44.84 years (s = 9.96 years). While this is lower than the

The Development Of The Kidneys
The embryological development of the kidneys occurs in three successive phases: the pronephros, the
mesonephros, and the metanephros. Because of the nature in this development, there are many forms
of congenital abnormalities associated with the kidneys. Because of their close developmental
association, there is also a complex relationship between the reproductive system and the urinary
system. During the pronephros phase in foetal development, by day 22, the intermediate mesoderm
(identified lateral to the paraxial mesoderm) gives rise to nephrotomes (nephric vesicles) in the
cervical region via the transformation of epithelial cells. The collection of the nephrotomes is referred
to as the pronephros and will proceed to develop in a cephalo caudal direction. However, the
pronephros is non functional and will atrophy within a few days. By day 23, the next phase of
epithelial cells are induced to develop (lateral to the somite) by the pronephric duct as it elongates
caudally into the thoracic region. The new epithelial tubules (mesonephric tubules) continue to receive
a blood supply from capillary tufts branched from the dorsal aorta. The mesonephric tubules envelope
the capillary tuft and are analogous to Bowman s capsules and glomerulus, respectively. These tubules
are now functioning for a short period of time to filtrate the blood into the continuation of the
pronephric duct, now known as the mesonephric duct or Wolffian duct. Between 24 and 26 days, the

Sammy in Updike s A P Essay
The main character in John Updike s short story A P is Sammy. The story s first person context gives
the reader a unique insight toward the main character s own feelings and choices, as well as the
reasons for the choices. The reader is allowed to closely observe Sammy s observations and first
impressions of the three girls who come to the grocery store on a summer afternoon in the early 1960s.
In order to understand this short story, one must first recognize the social climate of the era, the age of
the main character, and the temptation this individual faces. Sammy is a product of his generation. In
the 1960s the social climate was changing. The new ideas of the youth were taking over the traditions
of their parents. Music and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This seems almost ridiculous as far as today s standards, where in the grocery store, people wear
garments that vary from business suits to skimpy pajamas and bedroom slippers wandering the
produce section. One has to wonder what Sammy would do if he worked in a grocery store today! The
other side of the culture of the time is the rebellious attitude that Sammy has toward his boss. So I say
I quit to Lengel quick enough for them to hear, hoping they ll stop and watch me, their unsuspected
hero (81). He quits because the manager has embarrassed the girls. He throws caution to the wind and
walks away from his job, but remembering his manners, politely leaves his bow tie and apron behind.
He wants to throw off all his responsibilities and follow these girls wherever they are going, and
instead of listening to the good reasoning of his manager, he does as he pleases. Some of this
rebellious attitude can certainly be chalked up to age. Sammy is a teenage boy who is confronted with
three nearly unclothed girls on a hot day in the summer. Instead of being outside having fun, he s stuck
inside working at a menial job. These girls are a carrot dangling on a stick, just out of his reach. He
decides to take matters into his own hands and cut the string holding the carrot, even though the girls
are gone by the time he gets outside. It is characteristic of teenagers to do as they

Green Phytoplankton Research Paper
New studies have shown that the tiny, little sea creatures known as plankton can have a huge impact
on the atmosphere and could even help cool the earth. The Southern Ocean
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Ocean) has nearly no human influence enacted upon it,
therefore making it a perfect isolated area for scientists and researchers to study. The new revelation
could lead to a better way to help combat global warming.
The Green Phytoplankton
Green phytoplankton (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phytoplankton) get their color from chlorophyll,
the chemical that makes plants green as well as lets them absorb sunlight. The byproduct of the
plankton s absorption of sunlight is a chemical compound called dimethyl sulfide. This compound gets
released by the plankton and is then turned into a sort of sulfate aerosol that rises into the atmosphere.
This particular aerosol attracts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How Rain can cool the Earth
Rain falls when clouds contain so much moisture that they can t hold anymore and force it down to the
ground. While all the moisture is still in the cloud, though, it acts as a sort of deflector for sunlight.
Each individual drop of water that is in a cloud catch the sunlight, and therefore the solar radiation,
and keep it from coming through to the earth. Clouds that are very bright have a lot of moisture in
them that is catching the sunlight and deflecting it back.
This deflection of sunlight, and more importantly the solar radiation, keeps the heat off of the earth.
This breaks up the constant bombarding of heat that comes from the sun that breaks down the
atmosphere. Basically, the more moisture that is up in the clouds, the more that it will cool the earth.
Because green phytoplankton release a chemical that brings more moisture into the clouds, they help
cool the earth by proxy.

Symbolism In Stephen King s Movie It
Due to how interested I am with this captivating film, I once again decided to research a review on the
movie IT directed by Andy Muschiettie. Specifically looking for an article discussing symbolism I
stumbled upon Stephen King s It is the rare monster movie with too much monster written by Tahsa
Robinson. Collectively, the passage discusses many elements of symbols in the film, but ultimately
leads back to how the title monster makes appearance too often (Robinson). However, I disagree with
this statement because the creature is presented to remind the audience that It is always there;
terrorizing its prey before consumption as one would season a piece of meat before a meal. This
directing style of presenting the monster in the beginning and often throughout is different from that
of other movie that keep the monster hidden to build suspense and fear. Having It on screen in
multiple scenes allows terror to build for the victims or, in the case of the film, for the victims to
develop bravery in the face of fear. I do agree with the author s analysis on the aspects of the film and
the symbols presented to the audience. In particular, I whole heartedly agree with what she states
about one of the adolescent characters: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Fidot Ivanovich Shubin Research Paper
During the 18th century Russia had a large variety in artists. One of the greatest artists during this
century was Fidot Ivanovich Shubin, who lived between 1740 and 1805. Since Western European
culture was becoming more influential, Shubin, like many other artists, traveled to Europe to study.
When he returned from Europe, he created one of his most well known works, which is a bust of
Prince Alexander Golitsyn, who was a diplomat during the reign of Catherine the Great (Fedot
Ivanovich Shubin, Rusartist.org., n.d.).
The 19th century also brought many artists, but there was one in particular who is considered to be
Russia s first Romantic artist. (Famous Russians Artists, Tristarmedia, 2003). Karl Brullov, who lived

Incendiary Fire Analysis and Investigation
Summary of the Incident
On February 20, 2003, at 23:10 hours, the West Warwick, Rhode Island fire department was
dispatched to a structure fire at 211 Cowesett Avenue (Grosshandler, Bryner, Madrzykowski, Kuntz,
2005). The structure was the location of The Station nightclub, which contained an estimated 458
occupants, which was above the maximum allowed occupancy of 404 which was established by the
City of West Warwick (Grosshandler et al., 2005). The fire resulted in a massive loss of life as 96
people died at the scene, 3 died within days, and one person died 70 days later, bringing the death toll
to 100 persons (Grosshandler et al., 2005). The large crowd was present at the nightclub to witness a
performance of the rock band Great White , who used pyrotechnics during the performance which
directly contributed to the ignition of polyurethane foam panels that were installed in the building by
the club owners to serve as soundproofing. As the fire began to grow occupants began to panic and
immediately headed for the exits. The majority of the occupants attempted to use the front main exit
which was composed of a set of double doors, which led to a corridor, which included a single door
that exited to the outside of the building (Grosshandler et al., 2005). The exit was quickly blocked as
occupants began to stack up at the exit. The fire rapidly spread throughout the occupancy and the
structure quickly become untenable. The investigation includes a complete fire

The Role Of Animal Burial In Ancient Egypt
Man s Best Friends It s a Western idea that a dog is a man s best friend. Yet, when our canine
companions get sick, or hurt, or inevitably grow old and they die, what happens? If Spot was lucky, he
might get buried in the back yard inside an old shoebox or crate, wrapped in an old towel or blanket,
with some dirt thrown on him. Before long his shallow grave will be overgrown by grass and
dandelions and prickles. All it will take is one quick swipe of a lawnmower and any trace of your
beloved pet will be gone forever. As much as we love our pets and rely on domesticated animals for
food and for other goods, they are essentially disposable. We are a society that flushes our dead
goldfish down the drain. Not so in Egypt.
While the ancient Egyptians exploited a variety of animals, the animal kingdom was closely integrated
into their culture, especially when it came to their funerary practices. There is evidence of ritualized
animal burial from Predynastic times onward. At the graveyard in Heliopolis dogs and goats were
buried in a nearly 1:4 ratio to human beings. Although in few numbers, evidence of animal burial was
also found in Maadi and Wadi Digla. In all three cases, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The great Egyptian tombs were filled with all sorts of goods, everything an Egyptian pharaoh or
aristocrat could ever need in the afterlife: food, drink, clothing, tools. These sites also contained tombs
for their servants, so that they would continue to serve their master even in death. Following this line
of thought, it is plausible that the ancient Egyptian wanted to make sure they had access to their
animals in the afterlife. Cattle to plow fields and provide milk, oxen to pull heavy loads such as the
sarcophagus as well as fish and birds to hunt. As previously stated, many of these animals were found
with their own pottery and grave goods. Clearly the ancients wanted their animals to be cared for in

A Brief Report On Tianjin Plastics Essay
Tianjin Plastics were undertaken as project finance ventures. Project financing is a way in which large
standalone investments may be financed from their own assets and cash flows, without recourse from
the assets of the equity holders themselves. Project financing is the primary method was taking for the
massive infrastructure investment throughout many places such as China, Malaysia, Indonesia, the
Philippines, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and other emerging economies. However, despite that the
complexity of project finance (because they were detailed agreements that require thousands of pages
of documentation), was extremely uncomfortable with the problems posed by the Tianjin proposal.
Political:
In the past three decades, project finance has contained some of the largest individual investments,
including: British Petroleum s financing of its interests in the North Sea (totaling $972 million in
1972); the Trans Alaska Pipeline, a joint venture between Standard Oil of Ohio, Atlantic Richfield,
Exxon, British Petroleum, Mobil Oil, Phillips Petroleum, Union Oil, and Amerada Hess (1978). Each
of these investments represent capital expenditures that exceed the ability of a single firm to finance.
However, through a joint venture arrangement, the higher risks more than normal that absorbed by the
capital employed could be managed.
Legal:
The China project was established as an individual legal entity, and it separates from the legal and

Talk Show Ellen Degeneres
When times are difficult and people feel as if there is no possible way they could ever be happy again,
one of the best ways to overcome that feeling of uselessness is by doing something you love to do.
One way some individuals believe is the best way to overcome difficult times is through comedy. One
person who believes making people laugh can help ease her pain is Ellen Degeneres. In her talk show
Ellen when she was upset about her dog being taken away from another family, she said, I m a human

when you re here to dance and here to laugh and I know I make people happy, it changes my mood. I

She said that she found her calling when she performed a makeshift comedy routine about a person
that was telling a story while eating. Her performance at the party was noticed and she started getting
requests from local coffeehouses to perform for them as well. Ellen landed her first solid gig in 1981
as emcee at Clyde s Comedy Corner in the French Quarter which happened to be the only comedy
club in New Orleans at the time. Her reward for her shows at the Corner...was being named the
funniest person in America in 1982 by a talent scout for the cable channel Showtime. Degeneres first
gig had made a huge impact on her comical career because soon enough Ellen found herself touring
the United States in a Winnebago bus. But being named the Funniest person in America has its
downside. One of these downsides was having people try to humiliate you in front of a crowd. Ellen
recalled a time when she was working a club and the previous performer had turned the crowd against
her before she even took the stage. The front row was a bunch of guys who actually stood up, turned
their chairs around, and faced the other way, Degeneres said. Instead of giving up she ended up hiring
an agent and then entered into a contest at the San Francisco Comedy Festival where she came in
second! Her fame kept on rising between being called onto the Tonight Show and other talk shows.

Fraternal Twins Nature Vs Nurture
Twins are a unique twist to life. Families are blessed with one pregnancy and two children. Twins
open a portal for researchers to study the oldest debate in psychology; nature vs. nurture, a concept
that seems to stump many and have few models to learn from. Essentially, there are two types of
twins. There are identical twins, who are monozygotic, developing from a single fertilized egg, split.
Then, there are fraternal twins, who come from two separate fertilized eggs, making them dizygotic.
Identical twins share 100% of their DNA, practically making them clones; while fraternal twins share
50% DNA. When studying twins, many scientists use both identical and fraternal twins to analyze
how the environment and genetic makeup can influence attitude ... Show more content on

Twin studies are vital for behavioral genetics in the sense that researchers can study how genetics can
influence certain traits. For example, identical twins many be raised in the same household and both
enjoy horseback riding, while a set of fraternal twins may not both enjoy horseback riding. The
standard study conducted is based on twins raised in the same family environment, as this method can
show how life experiences play a role. Many twins are raised in the same home and share a lot of the
same experiences, which can impact their behavior, no matter the genetic makeup. A significant theory
associated with twin studies is the Random Mating theory. In this theory, researchers tend to assume
that people are as likely to choose partners who are different from themselves as they are to choose
partners who are similar for a particular trait (2017). While twin studies are essential in gathering data
for behavioral genetics, they can only estimate the heritability of a trait, while molecular genetics
attempts to pinpoint the effects of a particular gene. While twins who grow up in a similar
environment is the ideal method used, there are cases that involve twins who grew up in separate
environments. In Joseph s (2014) piece, he reviews common facts and fallacies associated with studies
on twins reared apart. It was found that, a particular study,

or not there are any differences in patient characteristics and treatments provided by the six Victorian
hospitals to Aboriginal people and non Aboriginal people. The qualitative data will be transcribed and
analyzed by using NVivo software based on the evaluation frameworks. Whereas the quantitative data
would be assessed by using SPSS in order to measure the impacts of the policy directions, funding,
workforce competencies and performance to facilitate the change in service delivery. To strengthen the
validity of findings, we also conduct triangulation that will help to compare the qualitative data based
on the opinion of key stakeholders and quantitative data from any sources. After completing data
analysis, we will conduct a consultation with key stakeholders to discuss the preliminary findings, to
establish any conclusions, and then to identify a possible improvement for strengthening the evidence.
To eliminate the possible bias in justifying a conclusion, we will conduct some reflection by involving
Aboriginal people.

Essay on The Tipping Point
The Tipping Point What can one consider being a tipping point in a situation. Is it when a situation
changes from bad to worse? Could it be when it changes from good to better? Or could it be from
when it changes from a bad situation and all of a sudden it turns around and becomes good? In my
essay we are going to explore the tipping point from four different authors: Malcolm Gladwell, Mary
G. King, Lynne M. Anderson, and Christine M. Pearson. From subject of: hush puppies, teen suicide,
crime, smoking, incivility in the workplace and the black women s breakthrough into clerical work.

Nuclear Technology Research Paper
The Discovery and Development of Nuclear Technology Man has always been interested in how the
world around him works. He wondered about the structure of matter,of which his world, as well as our
world, is made up. Countless scientists have been pondering that same question ever since the
beginning of time. In this paper you will read about just a few of the men and women that broke the
ground for the nuclear technology of today.
One of the first people to do this was a Greek philosopher named Anaxagoras in five hundred years
before Christ. He questioned what would happen if he cut in half a sample of matter, gold in his case,
and then half the halves and continue doing this. Anaxagoras theory stated that it would be ... Show

It was not until the renaissance that the ideas of Aristotle began to be disputed and people started to
accept the atomic theory of Democritus. One of the first people to speak out against Aristotle was
Francis Bacon. Bacon criticized the scientific thought of the ancients because it relied too heavily on
the philosophy behind things rather than experimental aspect of them. He did, however, side with
Democritus because the minute experimentation pointed in that direction. Another key figure in the
advancement of early atomic theory was Robert Boyle. Boyle ran experiments with gasses in pumps
and he studied the behavior of the volumes of the gasses as pressure was applied or taken away from
it. He observed that when a great pressure is applied, the volume of the gas decreases. From these
experiments he concluded that the gasses must be made up of small particle with a somewhat large
space in between them. Those particles were thought to be atoms. Another great mind, Issac Newton,
heard about Boyle s experiments, reviewed the observations, and supported Boyle s theory. After years
groundbreaking work by these great minds on Democritus theory of an indestructible, eternal atom, it
was finally accepted universally in 1895.
Now that everyone was sure that there were atoms, people could now start to learn more about them
and use them to better their daily lives. One of these men was a German scientist named Wilhelm
Rontgen. His major

About 42% of Nigeria s independent funds are sourced mainly from US and European government
and aid agencies, 17% from local banks, 25% from local pension funds, and
15% from partners and other sources. In Nigeria, institutional investors are reluctant to invest in
private equity. A large reason for this is might be lack of familiarity with the private equity asset class.
In the short term, Nigeria may see increased commitments from US and European government and aid

was different from others too. He had a tiny body and a huge brain. Even though they are drastically
different, both are essential to each other. Together, Max and Freak were unvanquishable. They were

Iggy and Loretta At first look, Iggy and Loretta were intimidating gangsters. Unlike my prediction,
Iggy and Loretta show great bravery. When Max is tied up to ropes trapped by Killer Kane, Loretta
comes and helps. She says, The plan is, Iggy keeps him busy while I get your loose, now isn t that a
good plan? There s enough cops up there to start a war, we ll be safe enough we get out of this
godforsaken place, (Philbrick, 126). Iggy and Loretta show courage by doing the right thing despite it
was dangerous. Iggy and Loretta s actions show that courage can be showed by everyone, even
gangsters. To Wrap it Up The novel Freak the Mighty teaches us a lifelong lesson that courage can be
shown by anyone no matter who he/she is. Freak, Max, Iggy, and Loretta are some individuals that
you wouldn t expect to see courage from. Freak with physical limitations, Max with learning
disabilities, and Iggy and Loretta who are gangsters show courage in different sizes and ways.
Courage is a lacking aspect of modern society. Many people are self centered and greedy. This novel
is different and special for it being a book about courage shown by people in a somewhat hard
situation. Reflecting at myself, I m sure I have shown less courage than any character in the book. I
am sure that everybody would feel the same. I ll finish this essay with a quote from Aristotle. You will

St. Thomas Aquinas, David Hume, And Nel Noddings
In life, our character is tested numerous times through difficult predicaments. In a fictional scenario
set in a genocidal, totalitarian regime, the head of house faces an extremely challenging dilemma.
While the common individual may approach the predicament a certain way, the philosophies of
Thomas Aquinas, Martin Luther King, Jr., David Hume, and Nel Noddings give us an idea of what
may be the most correct choice. While each philosopher presents a different and sound argument, they
each have a different idea of what is morally right. St. Thomas Aquinas the most influential medieval
philosopher created a bridge between faith and reason, and, thus, gave the world philosophies that can
be applied to many different scenarios. His ethics include a set of laws known as the Eternal Law, the
Divine Law, the Natural Law, and the Human Law. The Eternal Law is the law that only God knows.
The Divine Law is the Bible, and human beings have the ability to obey these interpreted divine laws.
The Natural Laws are laws that were created by God (because God created everything), but must be
deciphered by human reason. Lastly, Human Law is what is set by governments, and it is usually
unfair or flawed. That being said, the Human Law of the fictional genocidal, totalitarian regime would
be categorized as deeply flawed. In Thomas Aquinas Summa Theologica: Question XCIV, he states
that good is that which all things seek after and that good is to be done and pursued, and evil is to be

Female Characters in Hamlet
Introduction
Shakespearean tragedy is a story of one, or at most two persons. As a rule, they are male protagonists.
But to say that Shakespeare s female characters are shallow, undeveloped and used just as a decoration
on the stage is very wrong. Women in Shakespeare s tragedies have no leading role and they are, to
paraphrase Northrop Frye,[1] not tragic heroines, but heroines in a tragedy.
All female characters in Shakespeare s tragedies have one thing in common they end up dead. It is
always an untimely, unnatural death. This rule (rather than coincidence) is a theme of many debates
among philologists, critics, psychologists, psychiatrists and philosophers.
As Hamlet is one of the most reflective Shakespeare s plays, the ... Show more content on

She had lost her mother, and has only a father and a brother, affectionate by worldly, to take care of
her. To the persons in the play, she brings the thought of flowers. Laertes names her Rose of May , as
he prays at her burial and the Queen murmurs Sweets to the sweet , as she scatters flowers on the
grave.
Some scholars believe that Ophelia s name which means succor in Greek, a seemingly inappropriate
designation for so victimized a character may have been used in error instead of Aphelia, meaning
simplicity or innocence . Both names were rare in Shakespeare s time.
Ultimately, Ophelia s insanity is the consequence of the actions of others, and she is unquestionably a
victim of the tragic events that beset Denmark throughout the play. [5]
Ophelia and male characters in Hamlet Ophelia s affection for her brother is shown in two or three
delicate strokes. Her love for her father is deep, though mingled with fear. For Hamlet she has, some
say, no deep love and perhaps she is so near childhood that old affections have still the strongest hold;
but certainly she has given to Hamlet all the love which her nature is yet capable. Beyond these three
beloved ones she seems to have eyes and ears for no one. Her existence is wrapped up in these three.
On this childlike nature and on Ophelia s inexperience everything depends. Her father and brother are
jealously anxious for her because of her ignorance and innocence; and we resent

Bring the community connection back to life. In every town, in every city from the West Coast of

community was fun, nevertheless, we always had something to do around the town, but now that
community and many other communities have slowly died with major need of revival for Australia s

Our communities need a shakeup to give our local youth and families the best chance in life.

For-Profit Universities As A Social Problems
For profit universities are recently being recognized as a social problem. A for profit university is
defined as a school that is owned and operated by private corporations, whose top priority is to make
money (IPFW). These schools often only offer two year associate degrees and certificate programs,
but they rarely offer general education and liberal arts programs. This means the students cannot
advance to a higher degree.
Also, for profit lack accreditation, so most credits from an accredited college will not transfer, limiting
the ability to advance in school. These for profit universities have exorbitant tuition costs. Average
tuition after grants at a for profit school is about $31,000, compared to non profit tuition of $26,000.
Another issue is that many for profit schools have a low graduation rate. For example, University of
Phoenix had a 17.5 percent graduation rate in 2014, whereas Keiser University, a non profit school,
had a 56 percent graduation rate in 2014 (College Scorecard). Therefore, proving that for profit
universities fit the definition of a social problem, which is a social condition that has negative
consequences for individuals, our social world or the physical world.
Even if they do earn a degree, most do not find employment. A study from the National Bureau of
Economic Research shows applicants who had earned a bachelor s degree in business from a large
online for profit university are about 22 percent less likely to get a call back from employers

Essay On Gender Equality
In today s society, we have engineered inventions to know one s dreams, self driving cars, etc., but we
have not understood the basic principles of human equality. Equality has been fought for throughout
all of history, but still, millions are fighting for it still. Gender equality is the equal treatment of people
without regard to their gender. All genders are subject to this unfair inequality, however, it seems
women are the main victim. Inequality can occur in the workforce, everyday decision making, etc.
There is no exact cause of it, and it is very hard to change a person s bias. Though it is very
unfortunate, there are numerous groups today working today to enlighten those who still have these
absurd beliefs.
Many people all over the world are denied basic rights such as the right the marry who they want,
career, etc based solely on their gender. Women in India have suffered from this inequality since all of
history. There, they suffer from dowry deaths, child marriage, marital rape, etc. However bad these
things are, they seem minute to other tragedies they suffer from such as acid attacks. In one instance, a
woman named Pragya Prasun was attacked for not accepting a marriage proposal

Demand For Medical Care Essay
Demand for Medical Care
The demand for medical care is derived from our demand for good health. Michael Grossman was the
first to do econometric research on this topic. Grossman s work established two approaches for
consideration. In the first, medical care is viewed as an input in the production function for health, and
in the second, as an output produced by medical care providers (Henderson, p.142). There are two
main factors that determine the demand for medical care. The first is the patient factor. This includes a
patient s health status, demographic characteristics and economic status. The second is the physician
factor. This is an interesting topic because it introduces the principal (patient) agent (physician)

from your father and the other half from your mother. There are two factors that play a critical role in
determining the health of an individual: the risk of exposure to a particular disease and the ability of
the individual to resist the disease (and recover from its consequences) once exposed (Henderson
p.144). If your father has high blood pressure then his siblings are susceptible to high blood pressure
too. Now we will look at the determinants in the demand for medical care. Henderson defines demand
as the sacrifice an individual is willing to make in order to obtain a given amount of a particular good
or service. In other words you can t always get what you want. Need rarely equals demand. Need is
almost always greater than demand.

The Gender Struggle in A Streetcar Named Desire by...
After two world wars, the balance of power between the genders in America had completely shifted.
Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire is a harsh, yet powerful play that exposes the reality of
the gender struggle. Williams illustrates society s changing attitudes towards masculinity and
femininity through his eloquent use of dramatic devices such as characterization, dialogue, setting,
symbolism, and foreshadowing.
Stanley, the protagonist, is a symbol for society s view of the stereotypical male. He is muscular,
forceful, and dominant. Stanley s domination becomes so overwhelming that he demands absolute
control. This view of the male as a large animal is revealed in the opening of the play where Stanley is

His statement that:
Be comfortable is my motto
is almost contradictory, considering that the character does all he can to put the other characters out of
their way, throughout the play. It is through dialogue such as this that audiences are alerted to the fact
that Stanley intrinsically fails to consider the implications his own needs and wants have on other
people. Instead he is the one in control, the only person invested with power and subsequent
command, therefore the only one taken into consideration. A final show of authority is his over
powering presence within the poker games. Here he makes powerful statements, passing judgements
on the symbolic game, and asserting dominance.
Nothing belongs on a poker table but cards, chips, and whisky.
It is he who sets such rules, allowing no other comment or opinion. Therefore, it is through using
techniques such as dialogue, stage directions, foreshadow, and character, that Tennessee Williams
foregrounds society s attitudes to masculinity within the text.
Just as a character is provided to represent the stereotypical male, one is also provided as a
representation of femininity. Stella fulfils society s preconceptions of femininity perfectly, though
from today s perspective they may be considered as misconceptions. Her character is absolutely
passive and has a largely domestic role. From her first appearance in the play, she is found in

Marketing Metrics For Ironman
Ironman s Marketing Metrics
Sales Metrics Measuring sales growth: According to Klipfolio (2016), a sales growth metric measures
the overall rate at which Arimount s Ironman total sales revenue either increases or decreases. The
sales growth metric is an important metric for measurement, as it will affect all future strategic
decisions by Arimount. It is important that Arimount measure sales over multiple periods, in Arimount
s case total monthly sales, to gain a solid indication of growth and to build precise strategic plans; i.e.
Arimount will measure current sales against the previous year s sales period to then plan for future
sales periods. This will allow Arimount to tailor future marketing plans for specific points in time and

Ideally, Arimount will want as much shelf space as possible. Although a new entrant in the
marketplace does have leveraging power with retailers, as it is an established company with many
products already contributing to a percentage of the stores All Commodity Volume (ACV), or the
percentage of everything sold in the store. However, Arimount must have overall successful supply
chain logistics as Simon, (2012) argues that even if Arimount obtains adequate shelf space for
Ironman, including supply on hand with online retailers, it will not sell if it is not on the shelf.
Nonetheless, Ironman s initial strategy is to manufacture just two formulations and be marketed to a
specific target group, therefore, is realistic for the space it will require and be allotted, and will
therefore attempt to obtain good shelf position. My measuring monthly sales data, it expected that
sales would peak during warmer months and when athletic events in full swing. Arimount can then
trade shelf space for Ironman with its other product lines to maintain an overall profitability for the

How To Build A Snowman Essay
The Snowman It was a frigid day in December. I wore so many clothes that I looked like a penguin.
Every breath I took makes a small cloud and scattered. The gloves I worn seemed to be mildness like
paws. The buildings behind me were covered by the thick snow. The wall became more brick red
because of the spotless white snow. Some snowflakes drift down on my hair gently. The snow was
heavy, but not much wind. My friends bounced from worm house and laughed to me. We should build
a snowman. The snow is heavy enough. One of my friends advised. We all cheered and started to pile
the snow together. It s not a hard job for us to build a lovely snowman. I splashed some water on
snowman s body, the water congealed to the ice speedily. The outside

Thomas Nast Influence
In the latter part of the nineteenth century, as the United States became more industrialized and larger
portions of the population were granted the right to political involvement, newspapers became an
increasingly important source of information. Those who could effectively portray the events of the
time in a way accessible to the common man held the key to political influence. But there was another
facet to this business: it was, above all, important to be able to reach the uneducated masses.
Cartoonist Thomas Nast did just that, using his artistic skill to caricature inequality in weekly political
magazines over the course of his 40 year career. It is widely agreed that Nast had an influence
unparalleled by nearly any other in American history; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indeed, in an era where news of all kinds is only a click away, it seems odd that the simple cartoon
could once have been the most influential form of media in the nation. However, one must realize that
the target audience of these cartoons were illiterate immigrants and the impoverished masses; before
exposure to Nast s cartoons, they had no way to know that their beloved Tweed was corrupting politics
at all. In addition, these comics were published at a time when the United States had the highest
newspaper circulation per capita in the world; everyone had access to these cartoons (Leepson 54).
Therefore, Nast could use his illustrations to turn politics into a tangible, understandable topic for the
American masses; in doing this, Nast paved the way for future illustrators and journalists, such as
Homer Davenport, who went on to caricaturize corruption just as his predecessor had (Wang,

  • 4. The Development Of The Kidneys The embryological development of the kidneys occurs in three successive phases: the pronephros, the mesonephros, and the metanephros. Because of the nature in this development, there are many forms of congenital abnormalities associated with the kidneys. Because of their close developmental association, there is also a complex relationship between the reproductive system and the urinary system. During the pronephros phase in foetal development, by day 22, the intermediate mesoderm (identified lateral to the paraxial mesoderm) gives rise to nephrotomes (nephric vesicles) in the cervical region via the transformation of epithelial cells. The collection of the nephrotomes is referred to as the pronephros and will proceed to develop in a cephalo caudal direction. However, the pronephros is non functional and will atrophy within a few days. By day 23, the next phase of epithelial cells are induced to develop (lateral to the somite) by the pronephric duct as it elongates caudally into the thoracic region. The new epithelial tubules (mesonephric tubules) continue to receive a blood supply from capillary tufts branched from the dorsal aorta. The mesonephric tubules envelope the capillary tuft and are analogous to Bowman s capsules and glomerulus, respectively. These tubules are now functioning for a short period of time to filtrate the blood into the continuation of the pronephric duct, now known as the mesonephric duct or Wolffian duct. Between 24 and 26 days, the mesonephric ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story s first person context gives the reader a unique insight toward the main character s own feelings and choices, as well as the reasons for the choices. The reader is allowed to closely observe Sammy s observations and first impressions of the three girls who come to the grocery store on a summer afternoon in the early 1960s. In order to understand this short story, one must first recognize the social climate of the era, the age of the main character, and the temptation this individual faces. Sammy is a product of his generation. In the 1960s the social climate was changing. The new ideas of the youth were taking over the traditions of their parents. Music and the ... This seems almost ridiculous as far as today s standards, where in the grocery store, people wear garments that vary from business suits to skimpy pajamas and bedroom slippers wandering the produce section. One has to wonder what Sammy would do if he worked in a grocery store today! The other side of the culture of the time is the rebellious attitude that Sammy has toward his boss. So I say I quit to Lengel quick enough for them to hear, hoping they ll stop and watch me, their unsuspected hero (81). He quits because the manager has embarrassed the girls. He throws caution to the wind and walks away from his job, but remembering his manners, politely leaves his bow tie and apron behind. He wants to throw off all his responsibilities and follow these girls wherever they are going, and instead of listening to the good reasoning of his manager, he does as he pleases. Some of this rebellious attitude can certainly be chalked up to age. Sammy is a teenage boy who is confronted with three nearly unclothed girls on a hot day in the summer. Instead of being outside having fun, he s stuck inside working at a menial job. These girls are a carrot dangling on a stick, just out of his reach. He decides to take matters into his own hands and cut the string holding the carrot, even though the girls are gone by the time he gets outside. It is characteristic of teenagers to do as they ... The Southern Ocean (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Ocean) has nearly no human influence enacted upon it, therefore making it a perfect isolated area for scientists and researchers to study. The new revelation could lead to a better way to help combat global warming. The Green Phytoplankton Green phytoplankton (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phytoplankton) get their color from chlorophyll, the chemical that makes plants green as well as lets them absorb sunlight. The byproduct of the plankton s absorption of sunlight is a chemical compound called dimethyl sulfide. While all the moisture is still in the cloud, though, it acts as a sort of deflector for sunlight. Each individual drop of water that is in a cloud catch the sunlight, and therefore the solar radiation, and keep it from coming through to the earth. Clouds that are very bright have a lot of moisture in them that is catching the sunlight and deflecting it back. This deflection of sunlight, and more importantly the solar radiation, keeps the heat off of the earth. This breaks up the constant bombarding of heat that comes from the sun that breaks down the atmosphere. Basically, the more moisture that is up in the clouds, the more that it will cool the earth. Specifically looking for an article discussing symbolism I stumbled upon Stephen King s It is the rare monster movie with too much monster written by Tahsa Robinson. Collectively, the passage discusses many elements of symbols in the film, but ultimately leads back to how the title monster makes appearance too often (Robinson). However, I disagree with this statement because the creature is presented to remind the audience that It is always there; terrorizing its prey before consumption as one would season a piece of meat before a meal. This directing style of presenting the monster in the beginning and often throughout is different from that of other movie that keep the monster hidden to build suspense and fear. Having It on screen in multiple scenes allows terror to build for the victims or, in the case of the film, for the victims to develop bravery in the face of fear. I do agree with the author s analysis on the aspects of the film and the symbols presented to the audience. Yet, when our canine companions get sick, or hurt, or inevitably grow old and they die, what happens? If Spot was lucky, he might get buried in the back yard inside an old shoebox or crate, wrapped in an old towel or blanket, with some dirt thrown on him. Before long his shallow grave will be overgrown by grass and dandelions and prickles. All it will take is one quick swipe of a lawnmower and any trace of your beloved pet will be gone forever. As much as we love our pets and rely on domesticated animals for food and for other goods, they are essentially disposable. We are a society that flushes our dead goldfish down the drain. Not so in Egypt. While the ancient Egyptians exploited a variety of animals, the animal kingdom was closely integrated into their culture, especially when it came to their funerary practices. There is evidence of ritualized animal burial from Predynastic times onward. At the graveyard in Heliopolis dogs and goats were buried in a nearly 1:4 ratio to human beings. The standard study conducted is based on twins raised in the same family environment, as this method can show how life experiences play a role. Many twins are raised in the same home and share a lot of the same experiences, which can impact their behavior, no matter the genetic makeup. A significant theory associated with twin studies is the Random Mating theory. In this theory, researchers tend to assume that people are as likely to choose partners who are different from themselves as they are to choose partners who are similar for a particular trait (2017). While twin studies are essential in gathering data for behavioral genetics, they can only estimate the heritability of a trait, while molecular genetics attempts to pinpoint the effects of a particular gene. One of the first people to speak out against Aristotle was Francis Bacon. Bacon criticized the scientific thought of the ancients because it relied too heavily on the philosophy behind things rather than experimental aspect of them. He did, however, side with Democritus because the minute experimentation pointed in that direction. Another key figure in the advancement of early atomic theory was Robert Boyle. Boyle ran experiments with gasses in pumps and he studied the behavior of the volumes of the gasses as pressure was applied or taken away from it. He observed that when a great pressure is applied, the volume of the gas decreases. • 35. St. Thomas Aquinas, David Hume, And Nel Noddings In life, our character is tested numerous times through difficult predicaments. In a fictional scenario set in a genocidal, totalitarian regime, the head of house faces an extremely challenging dilemma. While the common individual may approach the predicament a certain way, the philosophies of Thomas Aquinas, Martin Luther King, Jr., David Hume, and Nel Noddings give us an idea of what may be the most correct choice. While each philosopher presents a different and sound argument, they each have a different idea of what is morally right. St. Thomas Aquinas the most influential medieval philosopher created a bridge between faith and reason, and, thus, gave the world philosophies that can be applied to many different scenarios. His ethics include a set of laws known as the Eternal Law, the Divine Law, the Natural Law, and the Human Law. The Eternal Law is the law that only God knows. The Divine Law is the Bible, and human beings have the ability to obey these interpreted divine laws. The Natural Laws are laws that were created by God (because God created everything), but must be deciphered by human reason. Lastly, Human Law is what is set by governments, and it is usually unfair or flawed. That being said, the Human Law of the fictional genocidal, totalitarian regime would be categorized as deeply flawed. In Thomas Aquinas Summa Theologica: Question XCIV, he states that good is that which all things seek after and that good is to be done and pursued, and evil is to be ... All female characters in Shakespeare s tragedies have one thing in common they end up dead. It is always an untimely, unnatural death. Some scholars believe that Ophelia s name which means succor in Greek, a seemingly inappropriate designation for so victimized a character may have been used in error instead of Aphelia, meaning simplicity or innocence . Both names were rare in Shakespeare s time. Ultimately, Ophelia s insanity is the consequence of the actions of others, and she is unquestionably a victim of the tragic events that beset Denmark throughout the play. [5] Ophelia and male characters in Hamlet Ophelia s affection for her brother is shown in two or three delicate strokes. Her love for her father is deep, though mingled with fear. For Hamlet she has, some say, no deep love and perhaps she is so near childhood that old affections have still the strongest hold; but certainly she has given to Hamlet all the love which her nature is yet capable. Beyond these three beloved ones she seems to have eyes and ears for no one. Her existence is wrapped up in these three. On this childlike nature and on Ophelia s inexperience everything depends. • 38. For-Profit Universities As A Social Problems For profit universities are recently being recognized as a social problem. A for profit university is defined as a school that is owned and operated by private corporations, whose top priority is to make money (IPFW). These schools often only offer two year associate degrees and certificate programs, but they rarely offer general education and liberal arts programs. This means the students cannot advance to a higher degree. Also, for profit lack accreditation, so most credits from an accredited college will not transfer, limiting the ability to advance in school. These for profit universities have exorbitant tuition costs. Average tuition after grants at a for profit school is about $31,000, compared to non profit tuition of $26,000. Another issue is that many for profit schools have a low graduation rate. For example, University of Phoenix had a 17.5 percent graduation rate in 2014, whereas Keiser University, a non profit school, had a 56 percent graduation rate in 2014 (College Scorecard). Therefore, proving that for profit universities fit the definition of a social problem, which is a social condition that has negative consequences for individuals, our social world or the physical world. Even if they do earn a degree, most do not find employment. Equality has been fought for throughout all of history, but still, millions are fighting for it still. Gender equality is the equal treatment of people without regard to their gender. All genders are subject to this unfair inequality, however, it seems women are the main victim. Inequality can occur in the workforce, everyday decision making, etc. There is no exact cause of it, and it is very hard to change a person s bias. Though it is very unfortunate, there are numerous groups today working today to enlighten those who still have these absurd beliefs. Many people all over the world are denied basic rights such as the right the marry who they want, career, etc based solely on their gender. Women in India have suffered from this inequality since all of history. There, they suffer from dowry deaths, child marriage, marital rape, etc. However bad these things are, they seem minute to other tragedies they suffer from such as acid attacks. In one instance, a woman named Pragya Prasun was attacked for not accepting a marriage proposal (http://www.dw.com/en/why acid attacks are on the rise in india/a 19313750). 47% of her body was burned because of such a simple dispute. Michael Grossman was the first to do econometric research on this topic. Grossman s work established two approaches for consideration. In the first, medical care is viewed as an input in the production function for health, and in the second, as an output produced by medical care providers (Henderson, p.142). There are two main factors that determine the demand for medical care. The first is the patient factor. This includes a patient s health status, demographic characteristics and economic status. The second is the physician factor. This is an interesting topic because it introduces the principal (patient) agent (physician) problem. We are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The quality of life was one of the major factors. There was an increase in income as well as education. The living standards and nutrition chipped in as well. The public health authorities improved sanitation. Which in return all lead to a decrease in diseases. An increase in technology also helped the cause. Diseases like cancer where slowed due to Chemotherapy and stricter regulations directed to corporations on dumping waste. (Henderson p.145) Genetics also play a major role in determining our health. Half of your genes come from your father and the other half from your mother. There are two factors that play a critical role in determining the health of an individual: the risk of exposure to a particular disease and the ability of the individual to resist the disease (and recover from its consequences) once exposed (Henderson p.144). If your father has high blood pressure then his siblings are susceptible to high blood pressure too. Now we will look at the determinants in the demand for medical care. • 41. The Gender Struggle in A Streetcar Named Desire by... After two world wars, the balance of power between the genders in America had completely shifted. Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire is a harsh, yet powerful play that exposes the reality of the gender struggle. Williams illustrates society s changing attitudes towards masculinity and femininity through his eloquent use of dramatic devices such as characterization, dialogue, setting, symbolism, and foreshadowing. Stanley, the protagonist, is a symbol for society s view of the stereotypical male. He is muscular, forceful, and dominant. Stanley s domination becomes so overwhelming that he demands absolute control. This view of the male as a large animal is revealed in the opening of the play where Stanley is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His statement that: Be comfortable is my motto is almost contradictory, considering that the character does all he can to put the other characters out of their way, throughout the play. It is through dialogue such as this that audiences are alerted to the fact that Stanley intrinsically fails to consider the implications his own needs and wants have on other people. Instead he is the one in control, the only person invested with power and subsequent command, therefore the only one taken into consideration. A final show of authority is his over powering presence within the poker games. Here he makes powerful statements, passing judgements on the symbolic game, and asserting dominance. Nothing belongs on a poker table but cards, chips, and whisky. It is he who sets such rules, allowing no other comment or opinion. Therefore, it is through using techniques such as dialogue, stage directions, foreshadow, and character, that Tennessee Williams foregrounds society s attitudes to masculinity within the text. Just as a character is provided to represent the stereotypical male, one is also provided as a representation of femininity. Stella fulfils society s preconceptions of femininity perfectly, though from today s perspective they may be considered as misconceptions. Her character is absolutely passive and has a largely domestic role. From her first appearance in the play, she is found in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
