Language Acquisition and Development
It is my pleasure to announce that I have gained quite many theories and knowledge about children
s language acquisition and language development process to analyze the condition of Tom and
provide some personal suggestions for his parents. The following statements are my analysis
considering to the language theories proposed by researchers and a repercussion for my personal
experience.
Nature versus Nurture
It was suggested in Chapter 2 that there are two theories regarding the language acquisition, nurture
or nature. Most behaviorists suggested that the child develops language due to nurture, which
means that the environmental exposure is the key to child s language development; whereas most
nativists considered that the child develops language due to nature, and the brain drives
development and children are born with the biology to acquire language.
According to BF Skinner, who developed Operant Conditioning Theory, in his 1957 classic, Verbal
Behavior, which Skinner reports the language is obtained by reinforcing modeling and continuous
practicing. His theory is based on the precondition that a behavior may increase or decrease
determined by what happens after a behavior occurs and thus external forces may modify the
behavior. It has been suggested in Language Arts journal of Michigan that speech instruction is very
fundamental in children s language development. Most of the times, it could be traced that there
are some patterns lied in children s reaction to various

Power Of Literature Essay
Literature comes in all forms; its basically everything around us. Movies, books, newspaper,
songs, posters, magazines, these are examples of literature. Like the many forms of literature, it
also has many purposes; literature is used as a source of entertainment, it in forms people, and it
also enlightens them with knowledge. Ever since we entered school, we have constantly been
questioned, asked to reflect upon what we read and to analysis what we read, watch and see. All
we have been doing since day one had been analysing literature. Don t you think there must be a
reason for all these years of analysing everything? I ve finally come to the conclusion that all those
years of analysing was to prove to us the power of literature. To some extent literature has the
power to refute and/or reinforce our prejudiceand bias. Literature is able to do this because it is
able to open us to the different social and cultural standing around the world, we can always
connect with literature, it comes in many forms and it s composed of facts.
Literature opens our eyes to the different social and cultural standings around the world. For
instance, in the book Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, Hassani s parents had believed
that education was important and put hassani in school but they married her off at the young age
of 13. She was sent away from her family to live with her husband and his family. Prior to reading
this book, it was implemented in my brain that education is the

A Case For Change HTF s IT Project Management Process Standardization
Executive Summary
This document describes the proposal of creating a new EPMO organization within HTF
(Hypothetical Financials) to oversee the standardization of its IT project management processes
including those for software development. HTF s (Hypothetical Financials) different LOBs
currently follow various flavors of SDLC models for software development and project management
processes and it is known the firm was too big to adopt quick process changes. The creation of an
EMPO organization is not a trivial efforts and is estimated to cost about 6 million dollars spanning
3 years duration. The initiative will go through annual evaluation and budget planning process ...

However, currently the firm lacks standard processes around development and project
management. Each line of business has its own proprietary or derived methodologies built on
top of the Waterfall model. There s not an official standard at firm level nor there s an EMPO
like organization responsible for standardization. The level of maturity in the project
management process is different too across different LOBs. For example, some LOBs requires
project managers to write business cases (BC) and go through approval processes before a
project can be created inside a project management system. Some LOBs do not or simply
adopted manual process in the approval of business cases. That means that the business case are
not required to be entered in the BC system. Some LOBs have standard project template for PMs
to use and others do not. Another example of varied maturity is around the artifact/document
management. Different tools are used for documents (e.g. requirements and design documents).
Some LOBs are using Microsoft SharePoint as a central repository but some simply use a
network drive. Developers also follow different processes in managing source code. Some use
standard tools such as Subversion to manage source code and following the best practices, some
simply keeps their source code on the development servers.
As a global financial organization, HTF s various lines of businesses (LOB) have been operating in
a very independent way. Each LOB also

Hillary Clinton Compare And Contrast
Have you seen the presidential debates lately? Hillary and Donald have been strongly arguing
over who should become the next United States president. The two candidates have pretty valid
points and both want to work on certain topics. They will agree and disagree on different topics
as well, but who is fit to be president? There are two significant topics that the two have spoken
about, climate change and abortion, so who has more reasonable policies and opinions on these
topics, Hillary or Donald? If I could vote, I would vote for Hillary Clinton because she has a lot
of political experience and great changes to make. 68 year old Hillary Diane Clinton graduated
from Yale University in 1973, then later served as the first lady of the U.S. from 1993 to 2001.
From 2001 to 2009, Clinton served as a U.S. senator and is now rich as of being a presidential
candidate with many, many votes. She s had quite a bit of political experience. Donald John Trump
is a billionaire who graduated from Fordham University in 1966, and Wharton school in the
University of Pennsylvania in 1968. Trump starred in a hit reality TV show called The Apprentice,
with not much political experience. Just knowing these facts, who do you think would be a better
president? Climate Change... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hillary thinks it is one of the top priorities, while Donald thinks it s just natural recurring weather

incentives to quickly increase the use of wind and solar power; they will cut costs, increase our
energy independence and our national security and reduce the consequences of global warming.
Clearly, Clinton is onto something, unlike her rival. Trump states, This very expensive global
warming ******** has got to stop. Our planet is freezing, record low temps, and our GW

Analysis Of The Yellow Wall-Paper And The Fall Of The...
Can architecture truly shape the mental healths of an individual? This question has been
brought into light from the novels The Yellow Wall Paper and The Fall of the House of Usher.
The relationship of the main character s mental health to the architecture of the setting in both
novels shows a deterioration in character health. The Yellow Wallpaper novel is taken place in a
nursery and the wallpaper is described as irritating and provoking. In Fall of the House of Usher,
the novel is taken house where you feel a sense of insufferable gloom. The health of the
characters can be depicted from these areas and creates a scene of disorder and insanity. In the
novel, The Yellow Wall Paper, the narrator is introduced to the audience as someone who seems
normal. She has a husband and a child as well. The narrator begins writing her journal and
explaining to us that she has been taken into a summer vacation home wit her husband. She at
first describes the house to be an more expensive place and questions their ability to purchase the
house. However, she soon begins to explain to us her disorder and how her husband John and her
brother as well, doesn t believe in her disorder. John gives her a simple treatment and solution to
her issues, he explains to his wife that the treatment she will receive is to do nothing active and
that she will get better if she stays in her room in the attic. This room is described as It was nursery
first and then playroom and gymnasium, I should judge;

The Ethics And Moral Philosophy
According to the online guide to ethics and moral philosophy, Utilitarianism is a normative ethical
theory that places the focus of right and wrong solely on the outcomes (consequences) of choosing
on action/policy over other actions/policies. As such, it moves beyond the scope of one s own
interests and takes into account the interests of others (Online n.d). In simpler vernacular,
utilitarianismis the view that the morally right action is the action that increases utility or does the
most good. The utilitarian view is to maximize the overall good which contrasts the typical
egotistical view which puts the needs of oneself above the needs of others. In Utilitarianism,
everyone s happiness counts the same. There is no I before we or you , there is just what is best
for everyone involved.
One of the classical utilitarian s, Jeremy Bentham, used this theory to analyze legal topics and
incite social reform. Bentham believed that humans were ruled by two entities pain and pleasure.
According to Bentham, we actively seek pleasure while actively avoiding pain. Bentham believes
that they ...govern us in all we do, in all we say, in all we think... (Bentham PML, 1). This comes
with the basic association that actions that promote happiness (pleasure) are acceptable and actions
that cause unhappiness (pain) are unacceptable. This basic assumption leads to what Bentham
describes to be an act evaluation versus a character evaluation. The issue with a character
evaluation, which

Daisy s Idea Of Social Breakdown In The Great Gatsby
He had discovered...made him physically sick. (Fitzgerald CH7). The feeling that George
Wilson had when he saw Daisy with another guy made him realize how much Daisy meant to
him and seemed to be a common feeling within the characters in the story. In this story, many
people fell in love with someone and had all the feelings in the world for them, but the other
person either didn t know or may not feel the same way. This also happens in the real world with
many people and many people end up upset over it because they like the person so much which
helps support Fitzgerald s idea of social breakdown and how the feeling happens in the story and in
the real world now and back then. The modernistic characteristic teaches us that Fitzgerald could...

And what s more, I love Daisy...and in my heart I love her all the time. This quote shows that
Tom felt no shame in what he did and takes advantage of Daisy s love for Tom. Tom relates to
people in the real world that don t feel shame after cheating on their spouse. Many people see it
as if it is alright to cheat on someone and don t think about the decision they ve made. As the
story went on and Daisy found out more and more about the cheating, she got tired of dealing
with it and ended up killing Myrtle which is very ironic because her husband was cheating on
her with Myrtle. This is an example of social breakdown because in society it s wrong to kill
somebody. Daisy killed her out of anger and jealousy which still would never make it right to
kill somebody. She should ve left Tom and let him go on with life with Myrtle. At the beginning
of the story, Nick realizes quickly how wrong Tom and Daisy s marriage is. When Tom has his
mistress call him during dinner Jordan is caught by surprise when Nick did not know about his
affair. From this example, it is easy to assume that Tom at this point in the story became infamous
among his colleagues because of his

Triangle Fire Research Paper
Karley M. Vahl #27 7 G Monday, April 23, 2018 Friday, May 4, 2018 The Triangle Factory Fire
at the Asch Building What happened the day of the Triangle Fire? What progressed after it? On
Saturday, March 25, 1911. At 4:25, which was 5 minutes before closing time at the Triangle Shirt
Factory. The Triangle factory, owned by Max Blanck and Isaac Harris, was located on the top
three floors of the Asch Building, floors 8, 9, and 10. Some cutters were smoking, even though it
was prohibited. Though it is not certain, people believe that a cutter flicked a cigarette butt or hot
ash, into one of the waste bins with flammable cloth in them. Many of the garment workers before

This incident has had great significance to this day because it highlights the inhumane working
conditions. The Triangle Fire tragically illustrated that fire inspections and precautions were
woefully inadequate at the time. Outraged cries calling for action to improve the unsafe
conditions in workshops could be heard from every quarter, from the mainstream conservative to
the progressive and union press. The role that strong unions could have in helping prevent such
tragedies became clear. Workers organized in powerful unions would be more conscious of their
rights and better able to obtain safe working conditions. Immediately after the fire, Triangle owners
Blanck and Harris declared in interviews that their building was fireproof, and that it had just been
approved by the Department of Buildings, but the building lacked the third required staircase. On
December 27, twenty three days after the trial had started, a jury acquitted Blanck and Harris of any
wrongdoing. Brought to court, he was fined twenty dollars, and the judge apologized to him for the
imposition. Twenty three individual civil suits were brought against the owners of the Asch

The World Trade Center Tragedy
After the Deregulation Act of 1978 in the United States, the airline industry was forced to adapt to
the rapidly changing environment (Goetz Vowles, 2009). At the time, the nominally regulated air
transporting environment permitted the airlines to begin services on any desired route, giving them
a great deal of liberty in the market. Although things were going well for those involved in the
aviation industry, several factors began to have a negative impact on the industry. For instance, as
the competition started to escalate, airlines began to take a competitive stance against one another,
fighting for their share of the market. Moreover, the World Trade Center tragedy in 2001 had an
adverse impact on the entire airlineindustry (Coy, 2005). Adding to the predicament, the recent
financial crisis of 2008 and the current inflation in fuel prices have caused the US airline industry to
regroup the fleet formation, making it the most competitive airline industry in the world (Ryerson
Kim, 2014). The whole airline industry now found itself struggling to survive.
In order to provide the best quality of the air transport services while competing against other
airlines in the US and other countries, the airlines had to develop a variety of strategies. The fleet
planning is a significant part of airlines survival strategies designed to optimize the flight operation
that maximizes the revenue. Therefore, when an airline fleet is informed by an optimized fleet

An Analysis of How Fear of the Unknown Affects Characters...
An Analysis of How Fear of the Unknown Affects Characters in Hamlet
Hamlet s famous To be or not to be soliloquy in Act 3, Scene 1 provides the context for several of
the characters actions. It is a soliloquy about fearing the unknown that lies waiting on the other
side of the grave (are we punished and/or rewarded according to our actions on earth?) and as
Hamlet reasons, Conscience does make cowards of us all (3.1.2). In other words, Hamlet feels
that he is unable to act because of the haunting voice of doubt inside him. He doubts that he
would find peace in the afterlife should he kill himself. He doubts the events he sees before his
very eyes and so cannot exact revenge as the spirit of his father urges him to do. Yet, as Hamlet
begins to unravel, other characters expose their doubts as well, revealing how they too are troubled
by the unknown. King Claudius reveals his troubled conscience after witnessing the play and
wonders what he has done; Hamlet s mother tries to block out the reality of the situation she has
entered into when Hamlet attacks her with what he knows (not knowing is better than knowing, she
feels). This paper will examine the ways in which the unknown affects the actions of the characters
in Hamlet and show that at the heart of each character is an unwillingness to confront the unknown
(which is oftentimes themselves). Fear of the unknown arises in the very beginning scene of the
play with the appearance of the ghost of Hamlet s father.

Critical thrust force Analysis in Machining of GFRP with Coconut fillers using Jodrill
Abstract: Ever increasing pressure on industry to reduce costs and ecological need of the hour
forms the basis of the present research endeavor. Coconut coir is abundantly available in India as a
bio waste. Naturally available coconut fibers in their original form have been used as fillers in
glass fiber reinforced epoxy composites. Thrust force being an important parameter in drilling
induced damage has been analyzed during drilling of the fabricated composites at four different
spindle speeds and three feed rates. Thrust force generally reduced with increase in spindle speed
but increased rapidly with feed. Stepped increase in thrust force was observed while analyzing
thrust force signals due to geometry of Jodrill.
Keywords: Glass fiber reinforced epoxy laminates, Coconut fillers, Thrust Force
1.Introduction: It has been well established that drilling of FRP s lead to drilling induced damage
thus reducing component s life and reliability. Thrust force induced in drilling of FRPs is one of
the major reasons for drilling induced damage [1]. Several studies have been made worldwide to
critically review the delamination induced in drilling of FRPs. These research efforts clearly
indicate direct relationship of damage induced with thrust force induced during drilling of FRPs [2
6]. Various mechanistic, mathematical and analytical models have been developed based on
different reasoning,

Music Production, Branding And Music Consumption With My...
INTRODUCTION The landscape of music industry has undeniably changed during the past 15
years. The advancing technology made a big impact on how we produce, market, promote,
monetize and consume music. In my essay response I will be focusing on three themes: music
production, branding and music consumption with my overarching theme being Technology. For
an established or up and coming band in 90s there were four possible income sources: touring,
merchandising, recordings and publishing. These income sources are still here, but there are so
much more options now. This is the reason why for bands and artists it is more difficult now then
it was back then, because they have all these choices to make (Bertis Downs, 2012). To be a... Show

In 2014 the overall music market value was only $14.97 billion (IFPI, 2014). The music record
industry went into decline because of the advancing computers and telecommunication
technologies, new MP3 format and Peer to Peer file sharing websites. Consumers stopped
buying tangible formats like CDs and preferred to have everything on their hard drives. They
were also able to get music for free, because there was no enforceable law forbidding them. The
technology has also changed the relationship between the record label and the artist. Record
label would pay all the costs in a typical contract, which covers studio costs, session musicians,
producers and engineers. Music is now being recorded in digital format and not analog, which
reduces the costs together with distribution being digital downloads and streaming. This means
that artists can take care of the whole process from start to finish. MUSIC PRODUCTION
Technology is like a river and can change its direction completely. It can move in a different
direction from what once was considered to be true and into one expected logically in the future.
The cost and accessibility barrier is lowered with every new technology arriving and therefore the
competition is increasing (Peter Alexander, 1994). In late 80s digital music recording was
emerging, but with technological limitations like computer memory and speed, the artist couldn t
do more than sampling. In early and mid 90s hardware got better and more

Advantages Of Ryanair
Ryanair s Competitive Advantage
Ryanair will be always known as a revolutionist of the Airline industry in Europe. Ryanair became
Europe s first low cost airline in the late 1990 s. It has continued to develop and has cemented its
place as Europe s most profitable. It has achieved this by develop new strategies that has given
them a competitive advantage over their rivals. Competitive advantage can be defined as strategies,
skills, knowledge, resources and competencies that differentiate a business from its rivals (Wang,
2009).
Porter s Generic Strategy

Inbound Logistics
Due to a uniform fleet, Ryanair have benefitted from low training costs of crew and pilots. The
internet ticket sales boom and online check in has improved efficiency. The Boeing discount when
buying new planes has meant further cost savings
Operations
Ryanair have remained committed to their low cost no frills service for European passengers.
They have limited crew on all flights and the development of technology means that access to
information is much easier. Ryanair is the biggest low cost carrier in Europe presently.
Outbound Logistics
Ryanair have outsourced some of its outbound logistics like baggage handling to smaller
companies. This helps in the efficacy of flights and gets flights turned around a lot faster. In 2014,
Ryanair delivered the best punctuality performance of all European airlines with 91% of flights
arriving on time .

Key Features Religious Practices Of Chinese Popular...
Key Features Religious Practices of Chinese Popular Religions The main Chinese religions have
many key features. The main religions include shamanism/ancestor reverence, Confucianism,
Daoism, Mahayana Buddhism, and idol worship. These 5 religions share some features in common.
For example, Chinese popular religionfocuses on the human being s pursuit of health, wealth, and
happiness in their lives (quote the textbook). Chinese popular religions want the human to be
doing well and succeeding in their day to day activities of their lives. Another key component of
the main Chinese religions is respecting one s elders. The religions teach the importance of
obeying the commands of the elders and honoring the family name. The Chinese allow place a
strong emphasis on the temple. The temple is a place where the people could communicate,
understand, and learn about their gods (quote the textbook). The next subsections will be describing
the key religious practices of each of the 5 Chinese religions.
Shamanism/Ancestor Reverence Shamanism and ancestor reverence are key religions of the
Chinese. Shamans are spiritual healers who call on spirits while they are dreaming to relieve an
individual from uncertainty or cure an individual from a disease (Laughlin Rock, 2014). Shamans
are seen as elders of the Chinese community and are respected for the tremendous healing power

Hope In Escape From Camp 14
Hope enables us to endure through even the most miserable situations. The reason why hope is
such a powerful force because it is not just a wish that everything that will be alright, Hope is a
belief that the problems will eventually subside if it is endured for long enough. Just the belief
that a person still have something to live for in the face of utter defeat, is enough for people to
keep going. An example of this happening is during Nazi era concentration camp in Bergen Belsen,
where the tragic Anne Frank died only one month before rescue. Women who knew Anne Frank in
the Bergen Belsen camp said that neither hunger nor typhus killed the young girl... she lost the will
to live after the death of her sister Margot. (Harden 105) Hope... Show more content on

In the context of the book Escape from Camp 14, It is a fact that currently North Korea is the
only true totalitarian dictatorship to exist in the modern world. If all other socialist government
forms have failed apart from North Korea, there must be something they have done differently to
keep the flow of power the same since its existence. North Korea s government has managed to
keep such a tight hold on the oppression of their people, that they can effectively silence them
through an efficient system of keeping their citizens ignorant on what is happening outside their
lives. Shin was required to learn the ten rules of camp 14 since childhood, and until his
encounter with Park, he has known nothing other than what the guards tell him. As Shin has
recited himself To fulfill one s work quota is to wash away sins, as well as to recompence the
state for the forgiveness it has shown (Harden 195) The camp is effectively crushing the hope of
the prisoners by limiting their knowledge to only what the state wants them to know, so there
cannot be any rebellion if the prisoners hopes are all crushed by the North Korean government.
Since the government has successfully bred the rebellious nature of their prisoners out of them
since childhood, the prisoners believe that everything the guards say must be the truth, including
one of the main sources of hope like standing up to what others believe in. Another example of
hope being closely correlated to sticking up to beliefs that are right within the book Hey
Nostradamus! Happens directly after the events in the school shooting. Officers have brought Jason
back home to his parents, and told them that Jason saved a lot of people today because he managed

Genocide In Greek Genocide
One of the most gruesome genocides to happen during the 20th century is the Greek Genocide,
often referred to as the Pontian or Ottoman Greek Genocide. This genocide consisted of mass
killings and exterminations of the Ottoman Greeks by the Turkish rule from 1914 1923. The main
dispute was difference in religion and beliefs, Christians versus Islam. What most people do not
know is that the Ottoman Greek Genocide is responsible for the almost complete destruction of the
Christian Orthodox culture, including monuments and history. Many Greekssuffered from forced
deportations, death marches, forced conversion of religion, executions, labor battalions, hunger, and
the overall cruelty of the Turkish government during this time period. The ones responsible for
these acts was the Committee of Union and Progress (CUP) and the Young Turk reformists who
seized control of the Ottoman Empire. Ottoman Greeks of all ages and genders were persecuted
because of their culture and minority in Turkey, so that the CUP and the Young Turks could
achieved perfect Turkification of the empire. The events of the Pontian Greek Genocide happened
in the westernmost part of Asia called Asia Minor or Anatolia, which is the Greek word for east .
The Greeks first settled in Asia Minor around the 11th century (BC). From the 4th century (AD),

Thesis On Preterm Birth
CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the study
Preterm birth is a crisis and creates unique challenges in their management for all health care
providers. The preterm babies are born too soon. Preterm is defined as babies born alive before 37
weeks of pregnancy is completed. Preterm birth occurs for a variety of reasons. Most preterm births
happen spontaneously, but some are due to early induction of biological systems, which may affect
the lung and liver maturity. These infants need special care in a nursery until the organ system has
developed enough to sustain life without support. This may take weeks to months. (Guha,K.,
Dipak. 2005).
Almost 60% of preterm births occur in Africa and South Asia, still preterm birthis truly a global ...

Among twenty preterm were selected in experimental and control group. Each infant received
either feeding with oral support or feeding without oral support for 2 consecutive feedings per
day on 2 consecutive days. Infants shows a greater intake rate during the intervention feedings,
both during the first 5 min (p = .046) and throughout the entire feeding (p = .023). The
percentage of leakage during the first 5 min feeding was smaller in the intervention condition
than in the control condition (p = .040). No significant differences were found between the two
conditions in the sucking, physiological, and alertness variables. Findings confirm oral support
as a safe and effective strategy to improve the feeding performance of preterm infants who are
poor feeders. (Yea Shwu Hwang, Chyi Her Lin, 2010). A study was conducted to determine the
effectiveness of oral support on feeding efficiency in preterm infants. Thirteen preterm infants
were selected between 30 to 40 weeks of gestation age at children s hospital and medical center in
Seattle, Washington. They were randomly selected the groups once with oral support and once
without oral support. Only the first 2 min of feed were used for data analysis. Statically significant

Reflection on Reading
February 11, 2011
Looking Back In Order to Move Forward
As a future elementary school teacher, I have always thought the task of teaching kids could be a
rewarding and gratifying experience. However, I recently realized that in order to obtain these
rewarding experiences the teacher and students must work hard and with determination. Learning to
read can be a very daunting task for a youngster. Therefore, as a teacher, it is your job to facilitate
positive reading strategies from the start. Looking back at my experiences as an early reader, I can
gain some insight as to what might help or hinder my future students.
I believe that one of the most important things you can do for your child is ... Show more content on

I feel learning the phonics of letters through the rhythms of music truly helped me as I began to sit
down with my first readers.
As I began applying what I was learning in the songs to some basic basal readers like Dick and
Jane I was able to find patterns between the phonics in the songs and the words on the page. We
had books that were themed each week with certain phonic sounds. The sound was then repeated
throughout the book but in different words. We were able to take these books home and practice
with our parents. I think that practice and repetition are key in continuing to recognize letters with
their phonic sounds. I feel these books served the purpose of achieving good reading skills for me
as a child, and continue to be helpful to children today as they learn to read.
There are two other techniques that my teacher used to help teach us how to read. One I
consider to be a good strategy and the other I am not too fond of. The first approach was using a
tape recorder and head sets. We would sit down with a book and follow along with our finger as a
voice was reading the book to us in our ear. I think this particular approach works because it
releases the anxiety and stress of having to pick apart the words on a page in order to learn them.
By following along they are able to develop listening skills and hear the

Federalist 10 Essay
Federalist 10 Liberty. This word means many things to many people. There is no way to distinctly
define the term without leaving someone s crucial point of view out of the equation.
One person might say that anarchy would be the only way to have complete and utter freedom,
while others would go as far as to believe a controlled communist government is the best route to
achieving liberation. Factions (a group of people who agree on certain topics) are inevitable, due to
the nature of man. As long as men hold different opinions, have different amounts of wealth, and
own different amount of property, they will continue to fraternize with people who are most similar
to them. In Federalist #10, James Madison summed up factions ... Show more content on

The only way to manage faction is to remove its causes and to control its effects. By removing its
causes Madison believes that liberty will be destroyed, or that by giving every citizen the same
opinions, passions, and interests, would be impossible because people can never all be the same.
Madison wanted the United States to be a republic, a form of democracy in which power is
vested in representatives, so there will be a greater number of citizens represented and we will also
be able to have more control over the factions effects.
In today s society, we see many examples of James Madison s explicit view on American political
culture. Everyone in America, from the time that they have been born, has been placed into
factions. Newborns are put into daycare facilities based on their parent s income and parental
beliefs. Students, throughout their entire academic career, have volunteered to become part of at
least one faction. Some students stay after school for art club, French club, guitar club, or a select
few even stay after for student council. The students select the student council members, by having
fellow classmates sign the petition form that each individual member must get signed in order to
become a representative. At the meetings, the student council might have enough money to only

Narcissistic Identity Identify With Conduct On Facebook
Introduction
Narcissism is a multiplex concept and represents different characteristics, demonstrative of both
good and horrible practices (Kubarych et al, 2004) that may clarify the inspirations driving social
networking sites use. In this way, conceptualizing narcissism as only a sole construct may make us
misconstrue the ways in which social networking platforms are utilized to fulfill different
psychological needs. Research has begun to analyze how undesirable parts of narcissistic identity
identify with conduct on Facebook (Carpenter, 2012).
The modern study seeks to explain the good and the undesirable parts of narcissism by discussing
about narcissism and how it relates to social networking sites use. Therefore, key differences in the
affordances of social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram relevant to narcissism
research are then discussed, highlighting the ways in which the observed association between
narcissism and social networking platforms use may change depending on the type of social
networking platforms used and the behavior assessed (Panek et al, 2013).
Overall usage of various social media platforms are an integral part of life. With social platforms

Essay The Fur Trade Period in the Indian Territory
The Fur Trade Period in the Indian Territory
Images of rough faced, Grizzly Bear fighting, firewater drinking, yarn spinning, frontiersmen form
in the minds eye. Wild men for wild times! To a degree this image is true, but the fur trade was
more than wild men. The fur trade was a business, conducted by businessmen. The wilder men
living on the frontier chose trapping. Fashion created the fur trade as businessmen sought to satisfy
the tastes of designers and customers back east and in Europe, where furs and hides were
necessities for fashionable clothing and accessories. Fashions also affected the Indians who sought,
silver, vermillion, glass beads, and clothe from traders. Each group depended on the other to supply
the resources. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1824, due to escalating conflicts between Osages and eastern tribes, the government constructed
Ft. Gibson at the mouth of the Neosho on the Arkansas River, thus adding government settlers or
merchants to the mix of traders and changing trade practices in the area forever. Should peace be
restored, the different tribes would turn their attention altogether to hunting, consequently the
Arkansas River would become as valuable highway as the Mississippi and Missouri for the
transportation of furs and other articles of Indian trade, A.P. Chouteau.
As the Civilized Tribes were being relocated, the U.S. army sent expeditions west. While
preparing for one such expedition, Washington Irving in his journal A Tour of the Prairies
recounts the scene at Chouteau s trading post as; a few log houses on the banks of the river,
surrounded by a group of Osages simple in garb and aspect, a party of Creeks quite oriental in their
appearance, a sprinkling of trappers, hunters, half breeds, Creoles, Negroes, and other rabble of
nondescript beings between civilized and savage life .
The fur trade also took place along the Red River. Here no one trader dominated like the
Chouteau family of the three forks area. Independent traders established posts along the Red River
to trade with the Kiowas and Comanches and the Choctaws and Chickasaws. Josiah Doaks began a
small post near the junction of the Kiamichi and Red Rivers in 1821.

Analysis Of Are You Somebody
The final scene of Nuala O Faolain s memoir Are You Somebody has several aspects that differ
from as well as are similar to the endings of the other Irish works we have read in class. Unique to
Are You Somebody, the memoir does not conclude with a complete resolution. She also begs for
the reader s pity, which the other authors with even worse situations do not resort to. However, her
memoir also has numerous aspects in common with the other works. Similar to Bonaparte in The
Poor Mouth and O Connor in An Only Child, O Faolain looks outward toward her future. However,
similar to McGahern All Will Be Well, she also reflects on her past. Although the authors all face
different situations, they are overall very similar in how they respond to their fate in the finalscenes
of their works. Several aspects of O Faolain s memoir s ending set it apart from the other works. In
contrast to the definitive nature of the endings of the other books, the final chapterof Are You
Somebody leaves readers hanging. The memoir concludes as she spends a Christmas day without
family, only being surrounded by her dog. She reflects on her past and poses questions to herself
regarding the choices she could have made in the past. She asks, What happened? (177), and How
can you persuade yourself to accept your fortune? (178). Questioning herself like this shows that she
is uncertain about her prior decisions, present situation, and is apprehensive about her future.

130 years. Over the last few years Kodak has been in distress due to its poor fundamental shift into
the digital age. Lack of strategic creativity led Kodak to misunderstand the industry in which it was
operating. This lack of strategic creativity was costly for Kodak.
This memo will explore the options I briefly discussed in the previous memo, in order to find a
solution to this problem. Each option will be assessed based on the same criteria. The options to

The option can revamp its line of attack to surpass current expectations. Though this option has a
high level of risk, if successful, would implement a drastic change to Kodak s strategy and overall
performance for the good of company leaders, employees, and stakeholders. The new CEO will be
evaluated after one year by leaders, employees, and stakeholders.
Option 2: Enter into a new aggressive market
Kodak currently has no position within the ink market. The ink business is a $45 billion a year
sector that could regenerate Kodak s position in the printing sector. The market for ink is
dominated by HP, followed by Epson, Canon, and Lexmark. Entering a complete new market may
be beneficial in its current position. According to Kodak, the greatest obstacle to printing at home is
the cost of ink and supplies. Kodak can develop a cost efficient solution that will be more appealing
to consumers. With the launch of this product, Kodak must focus on several sectors of business:
marketing, pricing, distribution, and production. Onesource (2011). * Marketing Kodak is the

Rethinking The Public Sphere by Nancy Fraser Rethinking The Public Sphere is a response to

his concept of the public sphere as both historical, and normative. It is historical both in the sense of

Laissez faire capitalism disturbs equilibrium and some level of state intervention and regulation on
economy and redistribution essential. Privatization hinders free discussion in public sphere. The
informal discursive sphere is independent of the government or the state and functions as a
thorough critic. The separation provides the weaker publics with an opportunity to play an active
part in decision making and not just presenting a position. The bourgeois conception seems
speculative of this discursive authority. She defends that the effect of public opinion is greater if
it can affect decisions made by the state. But, the notion of We instead of I does not necessarily
reinforce the dominant opinion regarding a subject and subjugate the subaltern public. It might be
pertinent to use the we to make the shared aims prominent. It evokes a shared social identity. But
she also expresses serious doubts about whether such a separation should be carried too far, as this
can cause powerlessness to the state in legislative and administrative matters, which require its
dominance even in a democratic and egalitarian social structure. Thus, Nancy Fraser stresses on a
need of a more post bourgeois approach as against Habermas bourgeois conception of The Public

There is little doubt that three years ago the American people wanted health care reform.
News media saw the controversy over health care reform as a strong issue to discuss in their

opportunity for both sides of this debate to reveal the benefits of their plans and the drawbacks of

Before the Clinton Health Care Reform initiative was ever mentioned, news media knew society
valued a better and reformed health care system. Initially much of mass news media reflected that
the American public wanted health care reform. On March 22, 1994, the Illinois
Business Review published an article called National Health Care Reform: Comparing Four
Alternative Plans . The introduction of this article had three amazing statistics from a Gallop poll in
1991 which bluntly stated that a majority of Americans wanted health care reform.
Ninety one percent of the persons polled said they believed that there was a health care crisis, and
eighty five percent said they felt that there was a need for reform (Reich 3). Approximately eighty
percent were either very or somewhat satisfied with their health insurance, but complained about
poor coverage and cost (Reich 3). For those who could not afford health care, eighty percent said
they believed that the government should pick up the tab (Reich 3). These three statistics displayed
that a majority of Americans polled valued health care reform. The prime objective of universal
health care is to insure every citizen, especially the twenty six million Americans who have no
health care insurance and who valued this initiative the most.
Because health care reform was popular as reflected in poll data, it seemed inevitable.
When the Clinton s mentioned their plan, it won much public support. This

Ancient testaments such as the Bible, Koran and Torah were attempts to set a standard for human

parts of the story are during Tom s days with Eva on the St. Clare s plantation. The saint like
character that Eva acts as rubs off on Tom. This is very enjoyable because both of these
characters are extremely likable and bond despite their completely different exteriors. In addition
to this, the mischief of Cassy and Emmeline to make Simon Legree believe that ghosts haunted

qualities became annoying and unrealistic. The willingness to die a martyr for slaves he did not

enjoyable was when St. Clare foreshadowed his death by saying that he would eventually get

Assessment Task TDA 2.1 Child and Young Person Development Task 2 2.2. Describe with
examples the importance of recognizing and responding to concerns about children and young
people s development. It is essential that anyone working with children can identify if a child is
having problems and might need extra support, this can be achieved through careful observation in
the classroom and playground. If, a teaching assistant or adult in school, were to have any concerns
about a particular child they should initially go to the class teacher and share their thoughts but it is
important that they maintain as much confidentiality as possible and would need to find an
appropriate time to discuss this. This should then be brought up with the pupil s parents in a
sensitive way and at an appropriate time, e.g. parent s evening. Assessment Task TDA 2.1 Child and
Young Person Development Task 3 3.1. Identify the transitions experienced by most children and
young people. All children go through phases of transition i.e. periods of significant change that can
affect development or behaviour. School education is an obvious example of this, transitions
include starting pre school followed by the transfer to primary school, then secondary school and
possibly onto further education. Some may experience changes in their

Personal Perception of Organized Crime
Personal Perception of Organized Crime In answering this question of what Angie s personal
perception of organized crime, it takes me back to the days of organized groups that united for
financial gain, control over business, law enforcement, the public and anyone or anything that they
could rule. Organized crimebrings about change in a community, hurt, danger, and sometimes
death. When thinking of organized crime it takes us back to the days of the Mafia. The days of
Al Capone comes to mind more then any other organized criminal. This gave a perception as to
what organized crime consists of and this is how viewed. The alien conspiracy theory posits that
organized crime (the Mafia) gained prominence during the 1860s in Sicily and that... Show more

A more specific criminological definition would refer to groups that (1) utilize violence or threats
of violence, (2) provide illicit goods that are in public demand, and (3) assure immunity for their
operators through corruption and enforcement. (Hagan, 2010: 300)
Conclusion
Thus, the organized criminal activity becomes transnational if it is connected to illegal operations
on moving material and non material means through frontiers, which bring an essential economic
gain. The transnational organized crime uses the favorable market conditions of other states,
significant distinctions in systems of criminal justice of the different countries, and penetration
into their legal economy with the help of corruption and violence (Zorin, 2009). In researching on
this issue, the conclusion that has arrived is as long as we live, we will always have organized
crime. However, if we do not participate in these acts it ill not prosper.

Four million African American women were slaves in the years between 1619 between 1865

Due to her skills as a seamstress she was able to get hired out for work as long as she gave a

the slaves more freedom and on Sundays, during Christmas, and New Year s they threw parties.

The Lower House Analysis
The United States Congress comprise two houses, one of them is the lower house known as the
House of Representatives, the upper house known as the Senate. These two chambers made up
the legislative branch due to the agreement of the bicameral legislature resulted from the Great
Compromise in 1787. The House represents the population, while the Senates are appointed by
the Congress. Both started new session on January 6, 2015. However, they have different
majority leader; Kevin McCarthy was the leader of the House of Representatives and Mitch
McConnell was the leader of the Senate. People who work for the lower house have to be fast
because the representatives only have two year term. For the upper house, people can work slower
because of six year term; so the Senate can contemplate the long term effects of laws. Two houses

The Iroquois used nature and their natural resources to provide shelter. The Iroquois made their

The Cherokee And Cherokee Culture
The endeavor to keep Cherokee culture alive through works of pottery, woven baskets, paintings,
beaded clothing, or other assorted items has always been a focus of the Cherokee people. Building
One Fire is a compilation of Cherokee art showcasing the variety of mediums they express their
creative styles through and illustrating the Cherokeeway of life. Throughout the years, the
government of the United States has played a large part in this struggle, whether they are repressing
their culture, acting as patrons to the Cherokee artists, or directly and indirectly influencing the
Cherokee artists through legislation regarding the Cherokee Nation. The story of the relationship
between the Cherokee and the government is clearly outlined in Art of The Cherokee, exploring
how American views of the Cherokee culture have progressed over time, specifically in relation to
Cherokee art. The relationship can be viewed in two parts. In the first part, the United States
believed the best approach was to press assimilation onto the Cherokee people and suppress their
culture. Both the government and citizens of the United States believed Cherokee land possessed
more value than the Cherokee culture, and attempted to gain their land through devaluing the
people and attacking their culture. Tensions between the Cherokee and the government continued
well into the 20th century, but a shift occurred in the early 1900s when the government began to
commission Cherokee art in an attempt to save

Anne Moody s Coming Of Age Essay
HIST278 Essay One Joseph Malthus, 42863655
Anne Moody s Coming of Age in Mississippi is a story of a black girl growing up in the American
Deep South during the development of the Civil Rights Movement. Moody notices the racism that
envelops her life and attempts to understand why it exists, despite the absence of reasonable
grounding. Suffocating under the restrictions and fear caused by systematic racism, she ultimately
decides to become an activist, and takes an active role in demanding equality and a better life for
Black Americans.
Moody s childhood was riddled with incidents where white people imposed their superiority and
control over her and other blacks. She sought to understand why American society was
structured this way. Moody first begins thinking about this after she is forced away from her
friends in a segregated cinema. While her friends were allowed to sit in the main atrium to watch
the film, Moody and her family were forced to use a separate entrance and sit behind them on a
balcony. Moody noticed that her friends whiteness meant they were treated better, but at her age
she could not understand why their skin tone made them better than her: why their whiteness
provided them with a pass to downstairs in that nice section and [her] blackness sent [her] to the
balcony .1 She became determined to discover what made whites more deserving of better homes
and schools compared to those which blacks were consigned to. Moody did not see skin tone as a

The Best Advice That I Ever Received From A Mentor Of Mine...
The best advice that I ever received from a mentor of mine was that instead of trying to be the
best at something you should instead focus on being a well rounded person. That is the way that
I have tried to live my life and it has led me to great success thus far. This is the primary reason
why I support students taking classes outside of their major. It leads to much more well rounded
adults who are knowledgeable in many different subject areas. Even though it may not be that
enjoyable, taking classes outside of your major introduces you to a wide range of knowledge.
Socially it helps you interact with a wide range of people in all kinds of different social settings.
You are able to speak intelligently to many different people about a plethora of different
subjects. Additionally, it is important to consider that a majority of people choose a major
based on what they are good at and are interested in. For many people math classes are very
challenging. If we left those people to their own devices they would probably never take a math
class again. Now math is obviously a very important skill regardless of your future career choice
and it s a class that everyone should take. Even if it may not be that enjoyable. The same goes for
all subject matters. For me personally its history. I am not a big fan of history classes. However I
am glad to have taken all of the ones that I have. They have taught me lots of important things
about the world that I live in. These classes have

Malvolio In Twelfth Night
Count Malvolio
In the play Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare there are many rising conflicts that occur,
Malvolio being the cause of a great deal. His naive personality plays a key role is the way he acts
towards others, more specifically, Olivia. Malvolio s naive personality reflects on his devotion
towards Olivia, he cares deeply for her and so he is dedicated and will do about anything he is told.
Although Malvolio feels one way towards Olivia, she does not feel the same way. Malvolio s
overconfidence in himself leads him to be a bigger fool than he thinks he is. Portraying a naive,
devoted and overconfident persona leads someone to be so blindly in love and to foresee reality for
what it really is.

Malvolio is Olivia s servant, he does not just do the bare minimum, but rather to the above and

may command where I adore. Why she may command me: I serve her, she is my lady (2.5.119
120) Malvolio dreams of the day when Olivia feels the same way towards him as he feels
towards her. He fantasizes of how it would feel to be her husband and the master of her house,
having power over all of the other members of the house that are not his absolute favourites. He
will do just about anything to succeed this goal because whatever that has to be done to gain her
love is worth it. For example, although wearing yellow stockings and tying ribbon around your
knees may be majority s idea of embarrassing, Malvolio still does it, just because Olivia said so.
Not only does Malvolio do things to impress Olivia directly but he goes out of his way to better
Olivia s life. My masters are you mad? Or what are you? Have you no wit, manners, nor honesty,
but to gabble like tinkers at this time of night? Do you make an ale house of my lady s house,
that you squeak out your coziers catches without any mitigation or remorse of voice? Is there no
respect of place, persons, nor time in you? (2.3.87 93) Sir Toby and Sir Andrew are complete
drunks who have no respect for Olivia s house. They both get rowdy and have no sense of good
behavior. Malvolio feels as though Sir Toby and Sir Andrew are acting like unmannered
commoners instead of members of nobility. He calls them out because he does not want Olivia

Living in Jacksonville, NC versus Living in San Diego, Ca
Compare and Contrast Final Draft
Samantha Deal As a military brat, I was born and raised in Jacksonville, North Carolina; and
have lived here for most of my life. Recently our family was stationed in San Diego, California,
and the move was a great eye opener for me. When I moved to San Diego, I was surprised by the
diversity of cultures, the abundance of activities, and how the crowds of people never stopped. It
is an excellent place for people who enjoy being amongst other people; there is never a lack of
entertainment day or night. Jacksonville, North Carolina on the other hand, is more for people who
like a relaxed and quiet family oriented lifestyle. The city of Jacksonville, and Camp Lejeune
Marine Corps base are home to 170,000 Marines, Sailors, retirees, and civilians. There are plenty
of things to do in Jacksonville, the only problem is you have to look for them. For example, on
the Jacksonville website, there are seafood festivals to attend, crab boils, and beach events among
other things. We have deep sea fishing for blue marlin with a top prize of $1,000,000 which
attracts people from all over the country. People can join the Clean and Green Jacksonville initiative
which entails improving, and maintaining the parks, roadways, and landscapes. Also, the Sturgeon
City Institute is focused on bringing back the endangered Sturgeon to the New River. In addition,
Rails and Trails, it is a jogging and biking path that starts downtown and ends at Camp Lejeune; and

  • 2. Language Acquisition and Development It is my pleasure to announce that I have gained quite many theories and knowledge about children s language acquisition and language development process to analyze the condition of Tom and provide some personal suggestions for his parents. The following statements are my analysis considering to the language theories proposed by researchers and a repercussion for my personal experience. Nature versus Nurture It was suggested in Chapter 2 that there are two theories regarding the language acquisition, nurture or nature. Most behaviorists suggested that the child develops language due to nurture, which means that the environmental exposure is the key to child s language development; whereas most nativists considered that the child develops language due to nature, and the brain drives development and children are born with the biology to acquire language. According to BF Skinner, who developed Operant Conditioning Theory, in his 1957 classic, Verbal Behavior, which Skinner reports the language is obtained by reinforcing modeling and continuous practicing. His theory is based on the precondition that a behavior may increase or decrease determined by what happens after a behavior occurs and thus external forces may modify the behavior. It has been suggested in Language Arts journal of Michigan that speech instruction is very fundamental in children s language development. Most of the times, it could be traced that there are some patterns lied in children s reaction to various ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Power Of Literature Essay Literature comes in all forms; its basically everything around us. Movies, books, newspaper, songs, posters, magazines, these are examples of literature. Like the many forms of literature, it also has many purposes; literature is used as a source of entertainment, it in forms people, and it also enlightens them with knowledge. Ever since we entered school, we have constantly been questioned, asked to reflect upon what we read and to analysis what we read, watch and see. All we have been doing since day one had been analysing literature. Don t you think there must be a reason for all these years of analysing everything? I ve finally come to the conclusion that all those years of analysing was to prove to us the power of literature. To some extent literature has the power to refute and/or reinforce our prejudiceand bias. Literature is able to do this because it is able to open us to the different social and cultural standing around the world, we can always connect with literature, it comes in many forms and it s composed of facts. Literature opens our eyes to the different social and cultural standings around the world. For instance, in the book Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, Hassani s parents had believed that education was important and put hassani in school but they married her off at the young age of 13. She was sent away from her family to live with her husband and his family. Prior to reading this book, it was implemented in my brain that education is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Case For Change HTF s IT Project Management Process Standardization Executive Summary This document describes the proposal of creating a new EPMO organization within HTF (Hypothetical Financials) to oversee the standardization of its IT project management processes including those for software development. HTF s (Hypothetical Financials) different LOBs currently follow various flavors of SDLC models for software development and project management processes and it is known the firm was too big to adopt quick process changes. The creation of an EMPO organization is not a trivial efforts and is estimated to cost about 6 million dollars spanning 3 years duration. The initiative will go through annual evaluation and budget planning process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, currently the firm lacks standard processes around development and project management. Each line of business has its own proprietary or derived methodologies built on top of the Waterfall model. There s not an official standard at firm level nor there s an EMPO like organization responsible for standardization. The level of maturity in the project management process is different too across different LOBs. For example, some LOBs requires project managers to write business cases (BC) and go through approval processes before a project can be created inside a project management system. Some LOBs do not or simply adopted manual process in the approval of business cases. That means that the business case are not required to be entered in the BC system. Some LOBs have standard project template for PMs to use and others do not. Another example of varied maturity is around the artifact/document management. Different tools are used for documents (e.g. requirements and design documents). Some LOBs are using Microsoft SharePoint as a central repository but some simply use a network drive. Developers also follow different processes in managing source code. Some use standard tools such as Subversion to manage source code and following the best practices, some simply keeps their source code on the development servers. As a global financial organization, HTF s various lines of businesses (LOB) have been operating in a very independent way. Each LOB also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Hillary Clinton Compare And Contrast Have you seen the presidential debates lately? Hillary and Donald have been strongly arguing over who should become the next United States president. The two candidates have pretty valid points and both want to work on certain topics. They will agree and disagree on different topics as well, but who is fit to be president? There are two significant topics that the two have spoken about, climate change and abortion, so who has more reasonable policies and opinions on these topics, Hillary or Donald? If I could vote, I would vote for Hillary Clinton because she has a lot of political experience and great changes to make. 68 year old Hillary Diane Clinton graduated from Yale University in 1973, then later served as the first lady of the U.S. from 1993 to 2001. From 2001 to 2009, Clinton served as a U.S. senator and is now rich as of being a presidential candidate with many, many votes. She s had quite a bit of political experience. Donald John Trump is a billionaire who graduated from Fordham University in 1966, and Wharton school in the University of Pennsylvania in 1968. Trump starred in a hit reality TV show called The Apprentice, with not much political experience. Just knowing these facts, who do you think would be a better president? Climate Change... • 7. Analysis Of The Yellow Wall-Paper And The Fall Of The... Can architecture truly shape the mental healths of an individual? This question has been brought into light from the novels The Yellow Wall Paper and The Fall of the House of Usher. The relationship of the main character s mental health to the architecture of the setting in both novels shows a deterioration in character health. The Yellow Wallpaper novel is taken place in a nursery and the wallpaper is described as irritating and provoking. In Fall of the House of Usher, the novel is taken house where you feel a sense of insufferable gloom. The health of the characters can be depicted from these areas and creates a scene of disorder and insanity. In the novel, The Yellow Wall Paper, the narrator is introduced to the audience as someone who seems normal. She has a husband and a child as well. The narrator begins writing her journal and explaining to us that she has been taken into a summer vacation home wit her husband. She at first describes the house to be an more expensive place and questions their ability to purchase the house. However, she soon begins to explain to us her disorder and how her husband John and her brother as well, doesn t believe in her disorder. John gives her a simple treatment and solution to her issues, he explains to his wife that the treatment she will receive is to do nothing active and that she will get better if she stays in her room in the attic. • 8. The Ethics And Moral Philosophy According to the online guide to ethics and moral philosophy, Utilitarianism is a normative ethical theory that places the focus of right and wrong solely on the outcomes (consequences) of choosing on action/policy over other actions/policies. As such, it moves beyond the scope of one s own interests and takes into account the interests of others (Online n.d). In simpler vernacular, utilitarianismis the view that the morally right action is the action that increases utility or does the most good. The utilitarian view is to maximize the overall good which contrasts the typical egotistical view which puts the needs of oneself above the needs of others. In Utilitarianism, everyone s happiness counts the same. There is no I before we or you , there is just what is best for everyone involved. One of the classical utilitarian s, Jeremy Bentham, used this theory to analyze legal topics and incite social reform. Bentham believed that humans were ruled by two entities pain and pleasure. According to Bentham, we actively seek pleasure while actively avoiding pain. Bentham believes that they ...govern us in all we do, in all we say, in all we think... (Bentham PML, 1). This comes with the basic association that actions that promote happiness (pleasure) are acceptable and actions that cause unhappiness (pain) are unacceptable. This basic assumption leads to what Bentham describes to be an act evaluation versus a character evaluation. The issue with a character evaluation, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Daisy s Idea Of Social Breakdown In The Great Gatsby He had discovered...made him physically sick. (Fitzgerald CH7). The feeling that George Wilson had when he saw Daisy with another guy made him realize how much Daisy meant to him and seemed to be a common feeling within the characters in the story. In this story, many people fell in love with someone and had all the feelings in the world for them, but the other person either didn t know or may not feel the same way. This also happens in the real world with many people and many people end up upset over it because they like the person so much which helps support Fitzgerald s idea of social breakdown and how the feeling happens in the story and in the real world now and back then. The modernistic characteristic teaches us that Fitzgerald could... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And what s more, I love Daisy...and in my heart I love her all the time. This quote shows that Tom felt no shame in what he did and takes advantage of Daisy s love for Tom. Tom relates to people in the real world that don t feel shame after cheating on their spouse. Many people see it as if it is alright to cheat on someone and don t think about the decision they ve made. As the story went on and Daisy found out more and more about the cheating, she got tired of dealing with it and ended up killing Myrtle which is very ironic because her husband was cheating on her with Myrtle. This is an example of social breakdown because in society it s wrong to kill somebody. Daisy killed her out of anger and jealousy which still would never make it right to kill somebody. She should ve left Tom and let him go on with life with Myrtle. At the beginning of the story, Nick realizes quickly how wrong Tom and Daisy s marriage is. When Tom has his mistress call him during dinner Jordan is caught by surprise when Nick did not know about his affair. From this example, it is easy to assume that Tom at this point in the story became infamous among his colleagues because of his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What progressed after it? On Saturday, March 25, 1911. At 4:25, which was 5 minutes before closing time at the Triangle Shirt Factory. The Triangle factory, owned by Max Blanck and Isaac Harris, was located on the top three floors of the Asch Building, floors 8, 9, and 10. Some cutters were smoking, even though it was prohibited. This incident has had great significance to this day because it highlights the inhumane working conditions. The Triangle Fire tragically illustrated that fire inspections and precautions were woefully inadequate at the time. Outraged cries calling for action to improve the unsafe conditions in workshops could be heard from every quarter, from the mainstream conservative to the progressive and union press. The role that strong unions could have in helping prevent such tragedies became clear. Workers organized in powerful unions would be more conscious of their rights and better able to obtain safe working conditions. Immediately after the fire, Triangle owners Blanck and Harris declared in interviews that their building was fireproof, and that it had just been approved by the Department of Buildings, but the building lacked the third required staircase. On December 27, twenty three days after the trial had started, a jury acquitted Blanck and Harris of any wrongdoing. Brought to court, he was fined twenty dollars, and the judge apologized to him for the imposition. Twenty three individual civil suits were brought against the owners of the Asch ... • 12. The World Trade Center Tragedy After the Deregulation Act of 1978 in the United States, the airline industry was forced to adapt to the rapidly changing environment (Goetz Vowles, 2009). At the time, the nominally regulated air transporting environment permitted the airlines to begin services on any desired route, giving them a great deal of liberty in the market. Although things were going well for those involved in the aviation industry, several factors began to have a negative impact on the industry. For instance, as the competition started to escalate, airlines began to take a competitive stance against one another, fighting for their share of the market. Moreover, the World Trade Center tragedy in 2001 had an adverse impact on the entire airlineindustry (Coy, 2005). Adding to the predicament, the recent financial crisis of 2008 and the current inflation in fuel prices have caused the US airline industry to regroup the fleet formation, making it the most competitive airline industry in the world (Ryerson Kim, 2014). The whole airline industry now found itself struggling to survive. In order to provide the best quality of the air transport services while competing against other airlines in the US and other countries, the airlines had to develop a variety of strategies. • 13. An Analysis of How Fear of the Unknown Affects Characters... An Analysis of How Fear of the Unknown Affects Characters in Hamlet Hamlet s famous To be or not to be soliloquy in Act 3, Scene 1 provides the context for several of the characters actions. It is a soliloquy about fearing the unknown that lies waiting on the other side of the grave (are we punished and/or rewarded according to our actions on earth?) and as Hamlet reasons, Conscience does make cowards of us all (3.1.2). In other words, Hamlet feels that he is unable to act because of the haunting voice of doubt inside him. He doubts that he would find peace in the afterlife should he kill himself. He doubts the events he sees before his very eyes and so cannot exact revenge as the spirit of his father urges him to do. Yet, as Hamlet begins to unravel, other characters expose their doubts as well, revealing how they too are troubled by the unknown. King Claudius reveals his troubled conscience after witnessing the play and wonders what he has done; Hamlet s mother tries to block out the reality of the situation she has entered into when Hamlet attacks her with what he knows (not knowing is better than knowing, she feels). This paper will examine the ways in which the unknown affects the actions of the characters in Hamlet and show that at the heart of each character is an unwillingness to confront the unknown (which is oftentimes themselves). Fear of the unknown arises in the very beginning scene of the play with the appearance of the ghost of Hamlet s father. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Critical thrust force Analysis in Machining of GFRP with Coconut fillers using Jodrill Abstract: Ever increasing pressure on industry to reduce costs and ecological need of the hour forms the basis of the present research endeavor. Coconut coir is abundantly available in India as a bio waste. Naturally available coconut fibers in their original form have been used as fillers in glass fiber reinforced epoxy composites. Thrust force being an important parameter in drilling induced damage has been analyzed during drilling of the fabricated composites at four different spindle speeds and three feed rates. Thrust force generally reduced with increase in spindle speed but increased rapidly with feed. Stepped increase in thrust force was observed while analyzing thrust force signals due to geometry of Jodrill. Keywords: Glass fiber reinforced epoxy laminates, Coconut fillers, Thrust Force 1.Introduction: It has been well established that drilling of FRP s lead to drilling induced damage thus reducing component s life and reliability. Thrust force induced in drilling of FRPs is one of the major reasons for drilling induced damage [1]. Several studies have been made worldwide to critically review the delamination induced in drilling of FRPs. These research efforts clearly indicate direct relationship of damage induced with thrust force induced during drilling of FRPs [2 6]. • 15. Music Production, Branding And Music Consumption With My... INTRODUCTION The landscape of music industry has undeniably changed during the past 15 years. The advancing technology made a big impact on how we produce, market, promote, monetize and consume music. In my essay response I will be focusing on three themes: music production, branding and music consumption with my overarching theme being Technology. For an established or up and coming band in 90s there were four possible income sources: touring, merchandising, recordings and publishing. These income sources are still here, but there are so much more options now. This is the reason why for bands and artists it is more difficult now then it was back then, because they have all these choices to make (Bertis Downs, 2012). To be a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 2014 the overall music market value was only $14.97 billion (IFPI, 2014). The music record industry went into decline because of the advancing computers and telecommunication technologies, new MP3 format and Peer to Peer file sharing websites. Consumers stopped buying tangible formats like CDs and preferred to have everything on their hard drives. They were also able to get music for free, because there was no enforceable law forbidding them. The technology has also changed the relationship between the record label and the artist. Record label would pay all the costs in a typical contract, which covers studio costs, session musicians, producers and engineers. Music is now being recorded in digital format and not analog, which reduces the costs together with distribution being digital downloads and streaming. This means that artists can take care of the whole process from start to finish. MUSIC PRODUCTION Technology is like a river and can change its direction completely. It can move in a different direction from what once was considered to be true and into one expected logically in the future. The cost and accessibility barrier is lowered with every new technology arriving and therefore the competition is increasing (Peter Alexander, 1994). In late 80s digital music recording was emerging, but with technological limitations like computer memory and speed, the artist couldn t do more than sampling. The reason why hope is such a powerful force because it is not just a wish that everything that will be alright, Hope is a belief that the problems will eventually subside if it is endured for long enough. Just the belief that a person still have something to live for in the face of utter defeat, is enough for people to keep going. An example of this happening is during Nazi era concentration camp in Bergen Belsen, where the tragic Anne Frank died only one month before rescue. In the context of the book Escape from Camp 14, It is a fact that currently North Korea is the only true totalitarian dictatorship to exist in the modern world. If all other socialist government forms have failed apart from North Korea, there must be something they have done differently to keep the flow of power the same since its existence. North Korea s government has managed to keep such a tight hold on the oppression of their people, that they can effectively silence them through an efficient system of keeping their citizens ignorant on what is happening outside their lives. Shin was required to learn the ten rules of camp 14 since childhood, and until his encounter with Park, he has known nothing other than what the guards tell him. As Shin has recited himself To fulfill one s work quota is to wash away sins, as well as to recompence the state for the forgiveness it has shown (Harden 195) The camp is effectively crushing the hope of the prisoners by limiting their knowledge to only what the state wants them to know, so there cannot be any rebellion if the prisoners hopes are all crushed by the North Korean government. Since the government has successfully bred the rebellious nature of their prisoners out of them since childhood, the prisoners believe that everything the guards say must be the truth, including one of the main sources of hope like standing up to what others believe in. Another example of hope being closely correlated to sticking up to beliefs that are right within the book Hey Nostradamus! Happens directly after the events in the school shooting. This genocide consisted of mass killings and exterminations of the Ottoman Greeks by the Turkish rule from 1914 1923. The main dispute was difference in religion and beliefs, Christians versus Islam. What most people do not know is that the Ottoman Greek Genocide is responsible for the almost complete destruction of the Christian Orthodox culture, including monuments and history. Many Greekssuffered from forced deportations, death marches, forced conversion of religion, executions, labor battalions, hunger, and the overall cruelty of the Turkish government during this time period. The ones responsible for these acts was the Committee of Union and Progress (CUP) and the Young Turk reformists who seized control of the Ottoman Empire. Ottoman Greeks of all ages and genders were persecuted because of their culture and minority in Turkey, so that the CUP and the Young Turks could achieved perfect Turkification of the empire. The preterm babies are born too soon. Preterm is defined as babies born alive before 37 weeks of pregnancy is completed. Preterm birth occurs for a variety of reasons. Most preterm births happen spontaneously, but some are due to early induction of biological systems, which may affect the lung and liver maturity. These infants need special care in a nursery until the organ system has developed enough to sustain life without support. This may take weeks to months. (Guha,K., Dipak. 2005). There are two other techniques that my teacher used to help teach us how to read. One I consider to be a good strategy and the other I am not too fond of. Mass Media s Undermining of Societal Values During Health Care Reform There is little doubt that three years ago the American people wanted health care reform. News media saw the controversy over health care reform as a strong issue to discuss in their productions, and most fulfilled their responsibility as an information medium: to provide equal opportunity for both sides of this debate to reveal the benefits of their plans and the drawbacks of their opponents . However, when interest groups became involved in this dispute, advertising their own beliefs against the Clinton Health Care Reform Plan, they manipulated the public by using scare tactics. News media incorporated these ads in their coverage of the benefits and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Page 2 Before the Clinton Health Care Reform initiative was ever mentioned, news media knew society valued a better and reformed health care system. Initially much of mass news media reflected that the American public wanted health care reform. On March 22, 1994, the Illinois Business Review published an article called National Health Care Reform: Comparing Four Alternative Plans . The introduction of this article had three amazing statistics from a Gallop poll in 1991 which bluntly stated that a majority of Americans wanted health care reform. Ninety one percent of the persons polled said they believed that there was a health care crisis, and eighty five percent said they felt that there was a need for reform (Reich 3). Approximately eighty percent were either very or somewhat satisfied with their health insurance, but complained about poor coverage and cost (Reich 3). For those who could not afford health care, eighty percent said they believed that the government should pick up the tab (Reich 3). These three statistics displayed that a majority of Americans polled valued health care reform. The prime objective of universal health care is to insure every citizen, especially the twenty six million Americans who have no health care insurance and who valued this initiative the most. Because health care reform was popular as reflected in poll data, it seemed inevitable. When the Clinton s mentioned their plan, it won much public support. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The most enjoyable parts of the story are during Tom s days with Eva on the St. Clare s plantation. The saint like character that Eva acts as rubs off on Tom. This is very enjoyable because both of these characters are extremely likable and bond despite their completely different exteriors. In addition to this, the mischief of Cassy and Emmeline to make Simon Legree believe that ghosts haunted his house was extremely comical. On the contrary, Tom s extreme resilience and Jesus like qualities became annoying and unrealistic. The willingness to die a martyr for slaves he did not even know, his stubbornness to not cooperate with Simon, or his unwillingness to runaway from Simon s plantation was extremely annoying. The other part of the book that was not very enjoyable was when St. Clare foreshadowed his death by saying that he would eventually get around to signing Tom s freedom papers. He never actually got around to it because he died before he could do it. This was especially annoying and extremely coincidental. Moody notices the racism that envelops her life and attempts to understand why it exists, despite the absence of reasonable grounding. Suffocating under the restrictions and fear caused by systematic racism, she ultimately decides to become an activist, and takes an active role in demanding equality and a better life for Black Americans.
