There are different theoretical approaches to psychology; behaviorist, humanistic, psychoanalytic, and
biological. I will be discussing the psychoanalytic approach to psychology and some of the pioneers of
this theory.

Freud based his theory of psychoanalysis on unconscious forces, sexual aggressive instincts, and early
childhood experiences as what shapes who we are as adults. Even though his approaches may not be
favored completely today research has shown that the self examination used in his psychoanalytic
process can contribute to one s long term emotional growth (Cherry, K. 2016b). Health professionals
were enlightened by psychoanalysis to the inner workings of the human mind, which were previously
inexplicable (Beystehner, K.M., n.d.). Sigmund Freud s research indicated that our behavior is
influenced by id, ego and superego, or what he termed structure of personality (nthdimension, 2010).
The id is present at birth and is the most basic and primitive part of our personality. Id s drive is
instinctual and can be described as having the life instinct named Eros and the death instinct named
Thanatos. Id is responsible for the basic, instinctual needs of survival like hunger and thirst. Ego is
developed to compromise between the instinctual desire driven Id and the external expectations of
parents and society. Superego is developed when a child is about 5 years old and is the internalization
of the expectations of parents and society that aides them to evaluate their behaviors for what s
acceptable or not acceptable.

A taffy is a relatively sticky substance. This a clear representation of how stuck he is in terms of his
ambivalent feelings towards letting go of the pains of the past in order to enjoy the potential happiness
of the future. Tongue tied is a phrase frequently associated with the feeling of confusion, and there is
no better phrase for the situation. Stutter shook is exactly what it sounds like. It is an indication of how
shook up by the situation the writer is. Uptight is also has a direct meaning in the sense of his general
apprehension towards the situation.
The following four lines are repetition of previous lines and generally have the same meaning behind
them. quot;I am covered my skin, / No one gets to come in, / Pull me out from inside quot;(10 12);
these three lines by far has to be the most touching part of the song. It is actually sort of self
explanatory in a sense. By saying he is covered in skin it is analogous to having a wall of defense up
that no one can penetrate, hence the next line No one gets to come in (12). The next line, I am folded
and unfolded and unfolding (13). This shows that he has decided to open up and shed the pain of the
past and move on. The next lines are simply repetition and have the same meaning as previously

John Steinbeck
John Steinbeck was born on February 27, 1902 in Salinas, California. John decided to be a writer at
the very young age of fourteen. John used to lock himself in his bedroom and to be alone and write
stories and poem (John Steinbeck Biography). John was the first in his family to have a striving desire
to become a writer, his father did everything he could to keep food on the table and his mother was a
former school teacher. To do this he worked several jobs at a time, he never got to enjoy what he does
like Steinbeck went on to do. John went on to try to be a freelance writer, so he work as a construction
worker and a newspaper reported in New York, New York. He wrote his first novel called The Cup of
Gold while living in Lave, Tahoe working as a caretaker. John went on to marry Carol Henning. She
was supportive by working several jobs to help him continue with his writing career.
John went to Stanford university in 1919, he dropped out six years later with no degree. John went
more to impress his parents than doing heat he wanted to do. One of John Steinbeck s most successful
written pieces was The grapes of wrath. This novel was so popular and well read that, when released it
sold ten thousand copies per week. This novel won a Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award.

After she was seized, she had been raped multiple times not only because of her beauty, but also
because she had been sleeping with Tutsis which therefore meant that she could sleep with the Hutu as
well (Mullins 726). The woman had been raped in front of four Interhamwe soldiers as well as a large
group of refugees. In the chaos after of the rape by Musema, the woman was ordered to turn over from

American Schools Are Failing For Minority Students
The idea that American schools are failing is not a new one, but it is an idea that is extremely
widespread. There are constant news reports claiming that our schools are worse than ever and
Congress has passed extensive legislation such as No Child Left behind in an attempt to fix the
American educational system. Some people believe that American schools are not completely failing,
but only failing for minority students. Reforms like mandatory busing, vouchers, charter schools,
accountability, and high stakes testing have been proposed to address these social inequalities. Despite
the intentions of these policies, they have not always helped close the social inequality gap.

in a low performing school could instead attend a different school. A problem with vouchers is that

Photosynthesis is the conversion of light energy to chemical energy. There are many different factors
that can affect the rate of photosynthesis, those being light intensity, the temperature of the water, the
amount of carbon dioxide in the water, and the color of the light. In this experiment we chose to alter
the color of light that was used in the process involving the aquatic plant Elodea while maintaining the
other 3 factors. This experiment was conducted to see how much of an effect the color of the light
played in the amount of carbon dioxide produced in the process of photosynthesis. We measured the
amount of NaOH that was needed to color the water pink and then converted the net difference of
drops into the net volume of carbon dioxide that was produced or consumed. The results showed that
there was not a significant difference in the amount of carbon dioxide produced when using a standard
regular colored light bulb compared to a green light bulb.

Vincent Donovan was an out of the box thinker when he traveled to the Masai people in hopes to
spread the gospel in hopes that these people would become Christian. In this paper it will address
hindrance that Donovan faced, his views of Christology and soteriology in relation to the Christian
faith perspective, and my own views on how well I believe that Donovan portrayed Christianity.
One of the biggest hindrances for Donovan while dealing with the Masia was the culture difference in

a very young age and there are also those people who have been diagnosed with a disability sometime

But the issue is that not everything in these policies or standards is being acted upon. On a more
personal level my only sister is 23 years old and she is down syndrome. She graduated from high
school almost 2 years ago and both myself and my mother are having an extremely hard time finding
some sort of service or even a facility that can help my sister continue to learn independence as well as
continue some type of education. We have tried everything from the local community college, which
turned her down because she isn t able to read at an 8th grade level, to the El Paso Mental Health and

was split amongst hundreds of feudal domains, and the emperor was little more than a symbol
compared to the rule of the bafuku government. The advent of Western dominance in the late 19th
century demonstrated the regime s vulnerability to foreign pressure, and incapability to deal with it.
The Meiji restoration aimed to modernize, strengthen government control, and achieve unity of ideas
across the nation ─ all factors of which the Tokugawa regime could not properly demonstrate.
The 1858 US Japan Treaty of Amity and Commerce wasn t approved under imperial sanction, leading
to accusations of treachery, provoking a major military crisis. The development of foreign contacts
showed the bafuku to be militarily weak and ineffective, forcing many to realize the need for
nationalization and reform. By the late 1850s, there was a growing call for sonnō (respect for the
emperor). The imperial court became a haven for bafuku opposers, particularly radical samurai from
Satsuma and Chōshū. An alliance between the two domains concerned the bafuku, leading to an
attempted military expedition to chastise the Chōshū in 1866 for its insubordination. The failed
expedition proved the bafuku no longer possessed the strength to impose its will on even a single
domain. Following the victory, anti bafuku forces abandoned their domain affiliations, instead, naming
themselves the imperial troops .
