Persuasive Essay On Airport Security
Airport security in the United States has been a controversial topic since the terrorist attacks of
September 11th. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) was established to ensure the
safety and security of US airports. New regulations such as taking off shoes and full body scanners
soon became the new normal in airports across the country. Travelers voiced concerns and complaints
over the heightened security measures, arguing that they invade privacy and are unethical. On the
other hand, Israel s Ben Gurion Airport takes a very different approach to tackle terrorism in airports.
Instead of high tech machines, the airport focuses on the use of intelligence data and profiling to
effectively identify terrorists. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only other option for passengers uncomfortable with the full body scanners is a full body pat
down, which can be just if not more as troublesome. There is anecdotal evidence that passengers feel
that pat‐down procedures are embarrassing and invasive because they involve screeners touching
people near sensitive body areas. Although very specific guidelines and boundaries have been
established by national airport authorities, inappropriate pat‐down searches are still reported. (Bello
Salau 666)
The TSA, however, tries to assure passengers that the images produced are blurred which means the
passengers being screened cannot be recognized. It further emphasized that the images are not
recorded. In response to this, the Islamic Human Right Commission (IHRC), a non profit research and
advocacy organization based in London, says The fact that a person s facial features cannot be
identified does not mean that the images are any less invasive. The images still show the person s
body in graphic detail where intimate piercing, catheters and all the parts of the person s body
(including those that a person would normally wish to keep private) are seen by the screener. This is
gross invasion of privacy. If these images are truly not archived, the question is where is the images
uploaded on the internet are gotten from. (Bello Salau 668)
Furthermore, these full body scanning devices may not even be effective. A team of researchers at UC
San Diego, University

Jackie Robinson Research Paper Outline
I. Introduction
A. Attention Grabber: Negro League Baseball was just one more thing that represented the segregation
of African Americans and Caucasians. One man s stubbornness, determination and athletic ability
would be a start to a new beginning for Major League Baseball.
B. Thesis: Major League Baseball was founded in 1869 and up until April 15, 1947 an African
American had never played in the major leagues before and that man was named Jackie Robinson. On
that day he did not open the door for other African American athletes. He just maybe turned the knob a
little bit which also lead to a new attitude people had towards African Americans no one had ever seen
before.

Main Point #2: Robinson in the leagues
1. Because of this Robinson was able to play for the Kansas City Monarchs in the Negro League at the
same time Branch Rickey (Part owner of the Dodgers) was looking to implement what can be defined
as a social experiment by introducing an African American into the Major Leagues. Robinson played
his first game April 15, 1947 and much like the neighborhood he grew up in he endured constant death
threats and harassment from the audience and other players.
C. Main Point #3: His effect on the league and society
1. Robinson was took a huge risk taking part in this, but it was worth it. He helped the Dodgers win
the World Series and after the game a huge mob chased Jackie for three blocks and Sam Maltin a
reporter from the Pittsburg Courier stated It was probably the only day in history that a black man ran
from a white mob with love instead of hate on its mind (Swaine, 2006). It took years until the Major
Leagues opened up to more African Americans, but when it did they had a lot of love for Jackie. Joe
Black a former teammate expressed his gratitude by saying When I look at my house. I say thank God
for Jackie Robinson (Singer, 2016).

Trifilar Suspension
Trifilar Suspension
Summary
The polar moment of inertia for an assembly of solid objects was calculated using the trifilar
suspension apparatus. The periodic time for the experimental and theoretical results were analysed and
compared in order to study the relationship between the mass moment of inertia and the mass of an
assembly.

Procedure
The trifilar suspension was assembled and the lengths of the chains were measured, recording their
average length. In order to repeat the experiment, applying the same amount of force each time, a
tangential reference line was drawn on the circular platform and marked with a corresponding point on
the table.
At first, the period for five oscillations of an empty platform was recorded and repeated, noting the
average time taken for one oscillation. The platform was then assembled scattering the solid objects
and noting their radius from the centre of the platform. Once again the period for five oscillations was

System And Surroundings Lab Report
Intro ERT
Chemical changes occur when molecules in the reactants break and form new compounds called the
products. The separation of the bonds in the reactants require a certain amount of energy whereas
energy is released when products are formed. There are two components where a physical or chemical
change takes place. These are the system and surroundings.
System and Surroundings
The system is the site of the chemical reaction and the surrounding is the entire universe around it.
The first law of thermodynamics states that energy cannot be crated or destroyed although one form of
energy can be converted to the other form and vice versa . (Dinesh Books) Since energy cannot be
created by any means, it simply transfers between the system and surroundings. Furthermore, since

Firstly, 10 grams of the desired chemical was weighed out. This was then placed in a sandwich bag.
The sandwich bag was aimed to act as a calorimeter for two reasons. Firstly, a calorimeter would limit
heat and volume exchange between system and surroundings and also depict the scenario of a real ice
pack.
15,20 and 25 ml of water were measured into a smaller beaker.
The initial temperature of the water was recorded with a thermometer so a change in temperature
could be determined. This probe was then placed in the sandwich bag while sealed to observe the
temperature inside the assumed calorimeter.
Once both temperatures were recorded, the probe was carefully inserted into the sandwich bag. The
bag was then sealed except for a little space to pour the water.
The water was poured in through the gap and the bag was sealed immediately. The timer was started at
the time the water was poured in.
The independent variables were measured along with the time of the total reaction and noted down for
further observation and analysis.
The procedure was repeated with the different amounts of water and the different chemicals indicated

Vanir Vs Aesir
Norse Gods and Goddessess are seperated into two different groups: The Vanir and The Aesir. The
Vanir group were associated with the earth, prosperity, and fertility. While the Aesir were gods of war
and of sky. The two groups were at war in the beginning possibly because of differing beliefs. Once
both sides realized neither would win the war, they joined together to fight common enemies. The
Chief among the Aesir gods, was Odin. Odin is the god of battle, wisdom, and poetry. He is
considered the most important and highly ranked Norse deity. The Voluspa says that Odin and his
brothers made the first man and first woman out of an ash tree and an elm tree. His wife Frigg was the
godess of the sky, marriage, and childbirth. She is the most powerful goddess in Asgard. Odin had a

He was honorable and true to his word. He was famous for having only one hand, and his story is told

of him is that after the mighty battle of Ragnarok, he and Balder will be born again. Loki is a master

Revolutionary War A Just War Analysis
Have you ever wondered if the beginning of the United Sates was based off of a just war? Saint
Augustine, a renowned Christian theologian and philosopher, addressed the idea of a just war during
the time of the Roman Empire. Augustine is well known for his book City of God in which he first
introduces his standards of a just war. These standards must be met for a war to be classified as just.
This new concept that war could be approved by God and used for good revolutionized the way
Christians viewed war. Although written hundreds of years ago, these standards have truly stood the
test of time because they are still referred to today. Based on Augustine s standards, The Revolutionary
War can be argued as a just war because there was a just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, war has changed significantly over the past few decades. America should tighten their
standards of war so that we are only involved in wars hat directly threaten our national security. This
would result in America taking part in far fewer conflicts which would save money and resources,
reduce the number of unnecessary lives lost, and reduce the hatred of America in many countries.
Tightening the standards would insure that future wars are fought for the protection of our country, but
not for spreading democracy or nation building. America has continuously meddled in other countries
affairs, which has led to a growing anger and resentment of America in those countries. Reducing
anger towards America becomes even more important since our country now has a relatively open
immigration policy which has allowed immigrants from countries into America. Without knowing
who these immigrants are or what their intentions are, our country becomes more susceptible to

Have you ever felt like there was nothing that you can do for your child? In the book, Deaf Like Me,

her help. This book was excellent I really liked the way that they described the ways that they tried to
help Lynn to understand the world around her. In this book, I also saw how a mother and father will do
anything for their child so that they can understand all that is around them. This book, is also a great
asset to any family that might be unexpectedly thrown into a situation that they do not expect such as a

In this school they wanted for all the children to be oral by the time that they got to kindergarten and

ideas of what a deaf child should be able to do. Lynn started school with a teacher named Ms. Taylor
that began to teach the children so that they could recognize what they needed to be successful later on
in their schooling. Dr. Barrington, a psychologist, taught a class to the parents of deaf children on how
to read to them so that they understand. (175) this is where the Spradleys learned that the more they
read to Lynn the better she would understand them and be able to lip read what they were saying.
Lynn also went to the Starr school that they wanted to keep as an Oral school, so she had to learn to
speak. (207) When going to a PTA Meeting for the school, this is when Louise and Tom saw a deaf
couple signing to each other. This is when they met with Bill and Kim that taught them that Lynn
could learn to sign and that it would be a good thing for them to learn also. In the first week Lynn
could sign thirteen words that she had already knew and just did not have anything to go along with
the word. As the family learned more and more about Lynn and her deafness, the reader can see that
they began to accept it. The changes all came slowly, the more that they learned about the disability

Compromises That Lead to the Constitution
In the period between the drafting of the Constitution and the start of the Civil War, compromise was a
main part in the governing of the United States. The Constitution itself is often referred to as a bundle
of compromises and because of the effectiveness of these compromises it has been able to withstand
time and continue to be the main source of our government. Conflict arose even after the Constitution
and compromises were made to try to keep the Union together and decrease tensions between the
North and South. In this paper, I will discuss the compromises that made up the Constitution as well as
the compromises that were implemented leading up until the Civil War. The drafting of the

Since Missouri s population was composed of 16 percent slaves, it would be admitted as a slave state
therefore upsetting the balance in favor of the south. Northerners didn t like this because Missouri was
at the same latitude as the free states of Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois, and because of this they feared that
it would set a precedent for slave states coming more north. The north and south continued to argue
and argue over the issue of slavery. The north accused the south of trying to extend the institution of
slavery and the south said that the north was conspiring to destroy the Union and end slavery. To
resolve this crisis, congress passed a series of agreements that became known as the Missouri
Compromise, which smoothed over the crisis. In 1820, Congress admitted Maine as a free state and
Missouri as a slave state in order to balance the number of free and slave states and to keep order
between the north and south. Also, it prohibited slavery in the remainder of the Louisiana Purchase
north of the southern boundary of Missouri. This compromise soon fell apart after it was passed.
Missouri drafted its own Constitution saying that free blacks were prohibited from entering their
territory. Because of this provision, which was against the federal Constitution stating that citizens of
one state were entitled to the same rights as citizens of other states, antislavery northerners

Psychosocial Development
Stage one is called trust versus mistrust and ranges in ages from 0 to 2. Erikson believed that this stage
is centered around the following question; is the world safe and predictable or dangerous and chaotic?
. Erikson believed that during the first couple years of an infant s life it is important for the infant to
learn that caregivers can be trusted to provide what the infant needs. This helps the child to develop a
sense that the world is trustworthy. If there was a scenario where the child was not properly taken care
of in the first couple years then the child may develop a form of mistrust and the world may seem
unpredictable and the people who are supposed to love and care for the child may be undependable.
When this stage is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the third stage it is important for the children to make judgement and start planning their
actions. Children will also start to asert more power to the world around them. During this stage the
caregiver should encourage the child to explore and begin making important decisions. The children
that are successful at this stage, merge with a sense of initiative. But the children that are not
successful may merge with a sense of guilt. A positive example would be my husband. He has a lot of
initiative and his mother told me when he was four he wanted to do and try everything himself. A
negative example would be my brother. He refused to try at anything. He always says it s too hard for
him and that he needs help. He never wants to play with anyone or if he does he has to be the one to
pick the game. He does have a huge imagination though. Stage 4 is ranged from ages 5 to 12 and has
the main question asked How can I be good? . Erickson considers this stage industry vs. inferiority.
During this stage children focus on developing a sense of competence (the ability to do something
successfully). As children mature they are able to tackle more complex tasks. They also become
interested in becoming masterful and accomplished. They show interest in learning new things. You
should praise children for their accomplishments. Because of praising children will

The Effect Of The Gilded Age
During the Progressive Era, many people were beginning to realize the effects of the Gilded Age,
which left almost the whole nation in poverty, so some people called muckrakers rose to the challenge

Sixteen year old Callie and her twelve year old brother Jude went through several obstacles since

a few abusive households which was due to lack of care from those in charge of reviewing foster
parent s applications. In one of the homes they were placed in Callie was put in a really difficult
situation which had a huge emotional toll on her that the trauma stuck with her for a few seasons. Due
to lack of love and affection from anyone in her life Callie fell victim to one of the sons in a foster

Japanese Cultural Values
Cultural Values in Comparison with the United States
According to Murai, adjusting to the Japanese culture is often challenging for foreign companies (1).
Some global firms such McDonalds and Starbucks have entered the Japanese market and positioned
themselves as respected brands through adapting to the prevailing culture. However, others have
struggled to win the minds and hearts of the discerning Japanese customers. The difference between
the successful and not so successful firms is that the latter employed the right steps to understand and
address the cultural differences and utilized them as vital resources. According to Geert Hofstede s Six
Dimensions of National Culture (qtd. in Ferraro and Briody 31), different states have different cultural
assumptions and value attachment dimensions, which represent the independent preferences of a
specific state of affairs over another that differentiates countries from each other (Hofstede Insights 1).

Four River Valleys
Compare and Contrast the Four River Valleys For reasons unknown four regions between 5000 and
2000 B.C.E rapidly expanded their land and changed at a quicker pace than other regions. They all had
better agriculture, technology, development of state power and construction of cities. These rivers
were the Nile in Egypt, the valley of the Indus River, which is now Pakistan, Mesopotamia between
the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, which is today known as Iraq and the Yellow River in China. These
four regions although grew faster they also shared similarities and differences between ecology and

Men focused on agriculture and the women focused on the babies. As well all four river valleys
societies shared the environment of tyranny. To Egypt a king was a god and a Pharaoh sometimes
function as a god. They also organized labor to manage floods and used the Nile to unify control. In
Mesopotamia a king ruled but each single state was under a single ruler. There was competition with
other city states. However kings were not gods but the ruler s tombs after death was covered in
treasurers and jewels. In China kingship traditions resemble Egypt and the Mesopotamia. The emperor
takes on the role and just like Egypt uses their river as a highway to unify and control. The Indus
Valley is however different, it is very much a mystery. There is uncertainness if there was ever a single
ruler. But they still had roles of distributing food, engineering and construction of complex urban
system. They all had control but as a tyranny they didn t have much control over their citizens lives.
They all had laws or codes except The Indus Valley because the place is unknown to having a ruler.
But for the most part they were similar in forming a settlement, a ruler and laws to maintain the
regions civilization. Along with having different regions with different ways of agriculture, settlement,
laws and a different type of ruler comes interaction. All these regions can learn from each other and
swap cultures.

Essay on Watershed Management Plan for Portland, Oregon
Watershed Management Plan: Portland, Oregon Portland, Oregon is one of the most sustainable cities
in the U.S and is well known for its urban appeal. Various bureaus within the city have consistently
found ways to incorporate sustainability at a time when managing economic pressures and increased
demands for natural resources have otherwise been challenging. It comes as no surprise then, that
efforts in restoring watershed health play a large role in the city s overall agenda. Every watershed
within Portland s jurisdiction serves an important purpose; and, while individual management plans do

Levees were built, wetlands were drained and filled, and waterways were channelized (City of
Portland Environmental Services, 2005). As a result, the overall health of the watershed diminished.
There is an urgent need to improve water quality of the Columbia Slough Watershed. Urban
development has resulted in an extensive loss of vegetation and habitat which has resulted in increased
water temperature and decreased capacity to filter pollutants and sediments from runoff (City of
Portland Environmental Services, 2005). The watershed also serves as an important wildlife corridor,
especially for migrating salmon. However, upstream passage of salmon is prevented due to levees.
Johnson Creek Much like the Columbia Slough, the Johnson Creek Watershed has also been severely
altered and urban development has contributed to its poor health. In the 1930s, a trapezoidal channel
in 15 of the 25 stream miles was created to control flooding (City of Portland Environmental Services,
2005). However, this action did the complete opposite. Disconnected from its floodplain, stormwater
runoff has overwhelmed the confined stream channel and has flooded 37 times since 1942 (City of
Portland Environmental Services, 2005). Algae growth due to altered flow and growth of invasive

Analysis Of The Book The Hunger Games
In the book The Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen is a sixteen year old girl, living under a totalitarian
government that demands a boy and a girl to be sacrificed each year. The children are sent into an
arena to fight to the death. Katniss is chosen and against all odds she wins, by an act of rebellion,
along with the boy tribute from her district. During her time in the arena she helps to fan the flames a
rebellion against the government, putting herself and others in danger. However, she ultimately
overthrows it. In the television series Alias, Sydney Bristow is a graduate student who is secretly a spy
for the CIA and a double agent in a terrorist cell called SD 6. Before joining the CIA, Sydney worked
for SD 6, under the impression it was the CIA. However, her fiance was killed by the leader of SD 6.
This is when she found out that SD 6 was actually a cell of a terrorist group called the Alliance, not
the CIA. In retaliation for killing the love of her life, Sydney joins the CIA to sell secrets and thwart
the Alliance. Eventually, Sydney destroys the entire Alliance group, SD 6 and all of the other cells.
These two women have something in common. Both are iconic tough women. The gap between the
airing of Alias and the release of The Hunger Games is relatively short. A mere three years. There is
no real time for Katniss to have evolved to the next level tough womanhood. Especially, considering
that the book would have been written while the show aired regularly. So,

Female circumcision, also known as Female genital...
Female circumcision, also known as Female genital mutilation, or female genital cutting is a custom
that has sparked controversy among many people belonging to other cultures not accustomed to the
practice. Within the argument lay a series of debates surrounding the issue as culture and tradition
clash with human rights over whether or not this practice should be allowed. Advocates against the
practice draw on the prevalence, perceptions, and reasons for conducting FGM to combat what they
believe is a human rights issue. Female genital mutilation is defined by the World Health Organization

Women themselves appear to defend this painful custom and take part in performing it on others
because of the significance in their culture and society. This is because the issue has to do with women
s perception of their role in the world. (Dawla) The World Health Organization divides Female genital
mutilation into four major types. The first is called clitoridectomy. This process involves the partial or
total removal of the clitoris and, in some cases, only the prepuce. The second type is classified as
excision. This is defined as the partial or total removal of the clitoris and the labia minora, with or
without excision of the labia majora. The third type is infibulation. This involves the narrowing of the
vaginal opening through the creation of a covering seal. The seal is formed by cutting and
repositioning the inner, or outer, labia, with or without removal of the clitoris. The adhesion of the
labia results in the near complete covering of the urethra and vaginal orifice. This stitching must then
be reopened for sexual intercourse and childbirth. The reversal process is called defibulation. The last
category encompasses all other kinds of harmful procedures to the female genitalia for non medical
purposes. These include things such as pricking, piercing, incising, scraping and cauterizing the

Building Vs Buying A Computer
Building vs. buying a computer can be a very hard choice. Most people have no idea on how to build a
computer so they choose to buy one, but is this the right answer? This topic is very hard to answer in
which is better to do, and which is more cost effective. When building a computer, what are some of
the challenges you might face in gathering needed information, assembling the computer, and
supporting the system after assembly? This question is very easy to answer because it covers the main
part of the computer building process. In most computer building cases, it is always best to research,
research, research. Using the internet is your best way to find out a lot of the info you need to know
like: how many GB s of RAM do I need to make the best gaming PC, Or how many case fans do I

Choose 2 scenes in Twelfth Night and state how you would direct them.
Discuss some of the challenges you might face in directing the play to a modern audience.
Being one of Shakespeare s best romantic comedies, Twelfth Night has been re enacted many a times,
be it during Elizabethan times, or in modern times. Although set in the Elizabethan era, Twelfth Night
has its charms. And indeed, it proves to be relevant and intimate to a modern audience, with its

In fact, here, Maria starts to plot against Malvolio, and together this group of friends gang up against
Malvolio, getting back at him for his rudeness towards them. In this scene, it is meant to be light
hearted and retain its essence of comedy and humour, so as to serve as a contrasting scene to the
previous (which was more serious). Hence, this scene should bring forth and emphasize on the
humour, and at the same time, portray a sense of revenge (a serious matter).
Overall, the setting of this scene would be in Olivia s house. In this scene, I would have one small part
of the stage (left to the audience) to be seen as the outside of Olivia s house, and most of the other part
of the stage (right to the audience), the inside of Olivia s house. On the outside, there would be a small
pathway up to Olivia s backdoor. The pathway would be decorated with extravagance, for instance,
roses. Roses symbolises a beautiful outer appearance, but in actual fact, has thorns, which threaten at
the same while (hidden intentions). There should be a simple plant, with morning glory creeping up.
Morning glory represents beauty that only lasts for an instance. All these run concurrently with Olivia
s personality, and how she is wasting her youth, firstly mourning, and secondly, wooing
Cesario (in actual fact, a female). Through the backdoor, Sir Toby and Sir Andrew enter into one the

The Inventions from the Bubonic Plague
The bubonic plague, which has gone by many names over the years, has caused millions of deaths and
is still around today. However, after the Plague hit Central Europe, there was a huge increase in
quality of life. Religion was adversely affected as the churches were unable to stop or even slow down
the Plague causing most of the population to lose faith. The economies changed in amazing ways for
peasants with the loss of the feudal system, and life expectancy was improved with the creation of
modern medicine.
What is the Pestilence?
Caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis, the bubonic blague, also known as the Black Death and the
Pestilence to Central Europe in the mid 1300s, is named after the buboes that appear on the groin,
armpit, or neck within a week of being infected. Buboes are swollen lymph nodes filled with fluid that
can reach up to the size of a large chicken egg. They are tender to the touch and are black in color. The
onset of symptoms start with a fever and chills and progresses to headache, fatigue, muscle aches, and
a cough that produces blood or sputum. Giovanni Boccaccio was an Italian writer living in Florence in
1348 and said, Soon after this the symptoms changed and black or purple spots appeared on the arms
or thighs or any other part of the body, sometimes a few large ones, sometimes many little ones. These
spots were a certain sign of death, just as the original tumor had been and still remained (Eyewitness

As with cancer and orthopedics there will be a large increase in demand for cardiovascular services in

Without these services the hospitals will not be able accommodate the growth. Another risk is
recruiting enough qualified physicians to provide care to the growing population. Because no
emphasis is placed on education cardiac risk factors, healthy living, and lifestyle modification the
demand for these services will increase dramatically becoming a weakness of the hospital.

The Social Aspects Of Gender In No Country For Old Men
What is gender and how is gender determined? Gender is the way humans are categorized into a
culture and is also the key to the entrance of a society. The two common genders that are recognizable
throughout every culture across the world are male and female. Commonly, gender is decided quickly
after birth, or sometimes even before birth, by using the parts of one s anatomy to categorize the new
born. What the new born doesn t know is that once they grow up, they will have to abide by a set of
rules to stay in their gender grouping, male or female. All too commonly, though, it can be seen that
once the males grow up, they gain a sense of power, this power being one that shadows the females
and leaves the females empty handed compared to the males, the so called superior breed. The film No
Country for Old Men by Ethan Coen and Joel Coen illustrates that men are dominant over men, but
most importantly, men are dominant over women, which parallels with Aaron H. Devor s essay,
Becoming Members of Society: Learning the Social Meanings of Gender . Furthermore, the film
presents the idea that when males are given too much power, they turn into a feared monster that is a
desired, which is fulfilled by fear and attraction.
One specific scene from No Country for Old Men illustrates the domination of men over women in the
patriarchy system through the use of dialogue, and the tone the actors use to convey the dialogue.

Impact Of The Automobile Industry On The Economy Due The...
The automobile industry plays an outsized role in the economy due the industry s cyclicality and the
multiplier effect. For instance, a gearbox is purchased from a supplier that has to employ labor,
purchase raw materials such as, copper, steel, wire, and other related components and services to
support the activity. All of these parts are in turn purchased from other suppliers with costs to support
their businesses. Therefore, as each supplier purchases components and services that they need, an
increasing propensity to consume and invest in the economy raises. For over 10 years, the government
of China had tried to develop a car industry. The government s starting steps included the production
of joint endeavors in which government possessed firms got to be accomplices of remote exclusive
enterprises. The greater part of these joint endeavors were amazingly effective fiscally. Then again,
progressing contrasts in administration inclinations made a consistent pressure inside of the joint
ventures. One of the specific concerns for the Chinese government was to guarantee that its new car
industry would receive the most recent advances in innovations. This subject of innovation exchange,
and how the government of China could best support it, turned into a main issue of concern in China s
car industry. From the point of view of the government of China, Geely s acquiring of Volvo would be

The Rights Of Service Delivery
In this paper I will provide an argument, and prove how rights based approaches to development
intersect with the discussion of service delivery proposed by Batley et al.
Batley et al argue that people, if organized, have the power to affect the services they are provided.
They provide a statement from the World Bank as their basis. Direct accountability of service delivery
organizations to users implies that citizens can both organize demand for services and monitor their
performance (p. 279). The collective action of consumers becomes easier when the service they are
being provided is located in a small territory where users can encounter each other easier (p. 280).

494). This intersects with the idea of Batley et al. that customers, if organized, are able to use their
power to demand or modify services provided. Additionally, according the Batley et al. for citizens
and clients to organize, the specific service they desire to improve need to be in a territory with high
density where users can encounter each other (p. 280). This allows citizens to exchange daily debates
about the lack or poor quality of services. As a consequence, citizens organize around shared desires to
either improve or demand services. One example of the rights talk approach intersection with Batley
et al s service discussion is the work being done by Shacks Dweller Internationals (S.D.I.), an NGO
that works with slum community members in various countries. This NGO raises the awareness of
residents about their sanitation issues. They provide a platform for community members to fight for
their right to have sanitation, while also providing a space for the residents to have political
inclusiveness in the process. Empowerment, inclusion and collective action are essential principles to
get desired results.
Batley et. al. would argue that slum citizens are able to organize because they are located in a high
density location. As a result they are able to share daily experiences about either the bad quality or

The university, or the school.
Students come each year to campuses such as the University of Arkansas, or the University of Texas to
begin their undergraduate education. These campuses are a group of ever changing buildings and
monuments that make up what people think of as, the university. The definition of a school according
to Webman s Unabashed Dictionary, is as follows. A group of humans moving together through the
mind. This suggests that the university, or any school for that matter, is not bound by the borders and
walls of a particular place.
When asked why they are here, most students say it is because this is what they need to get ahead in
life, whatever that may mean. It usually has much to do with the brass ring, or the house on the top of
the hill with the sports car in the driveway. For these people, the idea of an education appears to be
nothing more than job training. Could this type of training not be given at a technical school in half
the time it would take to get an undergraduate education? Many that have this attitude will come and
go without ever receiving the true benefits of an undergraduate education.
Throughout history the idea of being educated has been one of a total body experience. The notion of
a well rounded person is one that is still talked about today. The ancient Greeks incorporated both

Essay Theoretical Organizational Behavior Analysis
Throughout this essay I hope to analyse theoretical organizational behaviour by drawing on my own
experiences from working in groups. The groups I am going to use as part of my examples are all
from formal groups. Huczynski and Buchanan (2007, p. 291) gives a good definition of Formal groups
in a few bullet points, where one of them is task orientation which in my opinion has clearly
characterized the groups I am talking about. The groups are not necessarily consisting of like minded
people, but individuals randomly picked by the lecturer/tutor which in many cases leads to different
disagreements as the groups try to establish itself and the members of the group try to find their role
within the group. Bruce Tuckman came up with a theory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tuckmans first stage is the forming stage which is where the group s ground rules are set up and the
members find out about each other s background. To succeed in this first stage the group is dependent
on some leader (Huczynski and Buchanan, 2007, pp. 291) to take the lead. In none of my groups have
we had a formal election of a group leader, but somehow we have all agreed that the person that first
took the initiative should be the leader. Our leader can therefore, at least in my opinion, be looked
upon as a silently elected leader, and therefore perceived as more responsive to the needs of followers
and the interests of the group (Ben Yoav et al. 1983 cited by De Cremer David and van Dijk Eric,
2008, pp. 358). The second and third stages that a group needs to go through is the Storming and
Forming stage where normal the group faces its first problems or as Huczynski and Buchanan writes:
some members might show hostility towards each other (2007, p. 291). On the other hand, it is also in
these stages that people become friends and develop their trust towards each other. In my groups we
must have either skipped these stages or finished them fairly quick as I didn t notice this happening at

Once the children have been identified, they need to have an adequate program to aid in their
cognitive growth. The majority of gifted children are placed into the general education, leading to
boredom. As they understand concepts faster, especially abstract, boredom sets in as the children
continuously have to wait for their peers to catch up. Programs need to be made for them, as they are
the future. They will aid in the development and continuation of America, far more than the average
child. Several methods can be applied to a gifted program to keep the children engaged and their
minds simulated. Acceleration and Enrichment are two options, with the accelerated program having
the greatest positive feedback. Acceleration allows for the child to learn at a rapid pace, depending on
them not their peers, while enrichment is the addition of supplement information or reading
(Subotnik). Many programs in place presently have an accelerated program, but many are still too
slow or parents have no knowledge of it. The programs also puts less stress on the general education
teachers, especially if they don t know how to handle these students. Teachers within the program
should be specialized in dealing with the gifted, allowing for a better understanding and connection
between the student and teacher. And as all gifted students are different, the teachers need to be

Bartleby The Scrivener Identity Analysis
The text was extracted from the last part of Bartleby the Scrivener, A Story of Wall Street, written by

Saint Augustine, one of the best scholars of the early church, portrayed the Trinity as practically
identical to the three sections of an individual: personality, soul, and will. They are three unmistakable
viewpoints, yet they are conjoined and together constitute one bound together individual. The purpose
of this research paper is to further emphasize, highlight, and defend St. Augustine s conclusion that the
Holy Trinity is one God existing in three persons according to the meeting at the Council of Nicea
325.
In 325, the Council of Nicea set out to formally characterize the relationship of the Son to the Father,
in light of the dubious lessons of Arius. Driven by Bishop Athanasius, the gathering confirmed the
precept of the Trinity as conventionality and censured Arius showing that Christ was the first making
of God. The ideology received by the committee depicted Christ as God of God, Light of Light, very
God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance (homoousios) with the Father.

Long Island Sound ( Lis ) Essay
Long Island Sound (LIS) is a major urban estuary located along the east coast of the United States. It
is semi enclosed by states and islands in all directions. LIS is bordered by the State of Connecticut to
the north and Long Island, New York (NY) on its southern shore. To its west it connects to the NY
metropolitan area and to the east it is closed off by Block Island and Fishers Island Sounds. Due to the
restricted transport and dispersal of contaminants, LIS is susceptible to enhanced anthropogenic
impacts. Sewage effluent, industrial discharge, agricultural and urban runoff, atmospheric deposition,
combined inputs from major rivers, and disposal of dredged material are the major routes of
contaminants into LIS (1). There is a correlation that the number of marine systems that become
exposed to both treated and untreated wastewater discharges increases, as there are concurrent
increases in population around coastal areas. The environmental quality of receiving waters may be
compromised due to thousands of different chemicals released via sewage inputs. Over the last decade

  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Airport Security Airport security in the United States has been a controversial topic since the terrorist attacks of September 11th. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) was established to ensure the safety and security of US airports. New regulations such as taking off shoes and full body scanners soon became the new normal in airports across the country. Travelers voiced concerns and complaints over the heightened security measures, arguing that they invade privacy and are unethical. On the other hand, Israel s Ben Gurion Airport takes a very different approach to tackle terrorism in airports. Instead of high tech machines, the airport focuses on the use of intelligence data and profiling to effectively identify terrorists. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only other option for passengers uncomfortable with the full body scanners is a full body pat down, which can be just if not more as troublesome. There is anecdotal evidence that passengers feel that pat‐down procedures are embarrassing and invasive because they involve screeners touching people near sensitive body areas. Although very specific guidelines and boundaries have been established by national airport authorities, inappropriate pat‐down searches are still reported. (Bello Salau 666) The TSA, however, tries to assure passengers that the images produced are blurred which means the passengers being screened cannot be recognized. It further emphasized that the images are not recorded. In response to this, the Islamic Human Right Commission (IHRC), a non profit research and advocacy organization based in London, says The fact that a person s facial features cannot be identified does not mean that the images are any less invasive. The images still show the person s body in graphic detail where intimate piercing, catheters and all the parts of the person s body (including those that a person would normally wish to keep private) are seen by the screener. This is gross invasion of privacy. If these images are truly not archived, the question is where is the images uploaded on the internet are gotten from. (Bello Salau 668) Furthermore, these full body scanning devices may not even be effective. A team of researchers at UC San Diego, University ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Jackie Robinson Research Paper Outline I. Introduction A. Attention Grabber: Negro League Baseball was just one more thing that represented the segregation of African Americans and Caucasians. One man s stubbornness, determination and athletic ability would be a start to a new beginning for Major League Baseball. B. Thesis: Major League Baseball was founded in 1869 and up until April 15, 1947 an African American had never played in the major leagues before and that man was named Jackie Robinson. On that day he did not open the door for other African American athletes. He just maybe turned the knob a little bit which also lead to a new attitude people had towards African Americans no one had ever seen before. C. Audience Connection: The end of the Negro League and the integration of the major leagues was only one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Main Point #2: Robinson in the leagues 1. Because of this Robinson was able to play for the Kansas City Monarchs in the Negro League at the same time Branch Rickey (Part owner of the Dodgers) was looking to implement what can be defined as a social experiment by introducing an African American into the Major Leagues. Robinson played his first game April 15, 1947 and much like the neighborhood he grew up in he endured constant death threats and harassment from the audience and other players. C. Main Point #3: His effect on the league and society 1. Robinson was took a huge risk taking part in this, but it was worth it. He helped the Dodgers win the World Series and after the game a huge mob chased Jackie for three blocks and Sam Maltin a reporter from the Pittsburg Courier stated It was probably the only day in history that a black man ran from a white mob with love instead of hate on its mind (Swaine, 2006). It took years until the Major Leagues opened up to more African Americans, but when it did they had a lot of love for Jackie. Joe Black a former teammate expressed his gratitude by saying When I look at my house. I say thank God for Jackie Robinson (Singer, 2016). III. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to repeat the experiment, applying the same amount of force each time, a tangential reference line was drawn on the circular platform and marked with a corresponding point on the table. At first, the period for five oscillations of an empty platform was recorded and repeated, noting the average time taken for one oscillation. Caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis, the bubonic blague, also known as the Black Death and the Pestilence to Central Europe in the mid 1300s, is named after the buboes that appear on the groin, armpit, or neck within a week of being infected. Buboes are swollen lymph nodes filled with fluid that can reach up to the size of a large chicken egg. They are tender to the touch and are black in color. The onset of symptoms start with a fever and chills and progresses to headache, fatigue, muscle aches, and a cough that produces blood or sputum. Giovanni Boccaccio was an Italian writer living in Florence in 1348 and said, Soon after this the symptoms changed and black or purple spots appeared on the arms or thighs or any other part of the body, sometimes a few large ones, sometimes many little ones. These spots were a certain sign of death, just as the original tumor had been and still remained (Eyewitness to History, 2001). Most victims of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are a few risks and weakness with the current state of Oncology Services. With physicians practices already at capacity there is no room to handle the current and future demand for these services. With an aging population new cancer cases are expected to increase by 34 % in five years. Higher smoking rates also contribute to new cancer diagnosis. Another risk is the equipment to diagnose and treat cancer is not keeping up with patient volume. This could be due to antiquated equipment that takes longer to scan patients therefore delaying results and sometimes requiring additional scanning. As with cancer and orthopedics there will be a large increase in demand for cardiovascular services in the next five years. As obesity increase there will be an increase in high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes which will lead to an increase in cardiovascular services. A risk would be not securing the funding to add the additional cath labs, surgical suites, and cardiac rehab program. Without these services the hospitals will not be able accommodate the growth. Another risk is recruiting enough qualified physicians to provide care to the growing population. Because no emphasis is placed on education cardiac risk factors, healthy living, and lifestyle modification the demand for these services will increase dramatically becoming a weakness of the hospital. Currently there is no formal oncology, orthopedic, or cardiology programs at Trinity although there are a few orthopedic surgeons and cardiologists that maintain privileges at the hospital. There are no cancer specialists that practice at the hospital but a group composed of eight medical oncologists and two radiation oncologists has expressed interest in an affiliation to develop a cancer program. The components of LSD are lysergic acid and diethylamide. As part of the ergoline family, LSD is often classified as a synthetic drug because it is produced only in a laboratory (Petechuk 10). Users of LSD are people from solid middle and upper class backgrounds. They have many opportunities to pursue higher education and to have successful careers (Petechuk 9). This is a very small dose in comparison to the dosages required for other drugs. After taking the LSD, Hofmann experienced unusual sensory experiences, not all of them were pleasant. • 29. The Social Aspects Of Gender In No Country For Old Men What is gender and how is gender determined? Gender is the way humans are categorized into a culture and is also the key to the entrance of a society. The two common genders that are recognizable throughout every culture across the world are male and female. Commonly, gender is decided quickly after birth, or sometimes even before birth, by using the parts of one s anatomy to categorize the new born. What the new born doesn t know is that once they grow up, they will have to abide by a set of rules to stay in their gender grouping, male or female. All too commonly, though, it can be seen that once the males grow up, they gain a sense of power, this power being one that shadows the females and leaves the females empty handed compared to the males, the so called superior breed. The film No Country for Old Men by Ethan Coen and Joel Coen illustrates that men are dominant over men, but most importantly, men are dominant over women, which parallels with Aaron H. Devor s essay, Becoming Members of Society: Learning the Social Meanings of Gender . Furthermore, the film presents the idea that when males are given too much power, they turn into a feared monster that is a desired, which is fulfilled by fear and attraction. • 30. Impact Of The Automobile Industry On The Economy Due The... The automobile industry plays an outsized role in the economy due the industry s cyclicality and the multiplier effect. For instance, a gearbox is purchased from a supplier that has to employ labor, purchase raw materials such as, copper, steel, wire, and other related components and services to support the activity. All of these parts are in turn purchased from other suppliers with costs to support their businesses. Therefore, as each supplier purchases components and services that they need, an increasing propensity to consume and invest in the economy raises. For over 10 years, the government of China had tried to develop a car industry. The government s starting steps included the production of joint endeavors in which government possessed firms got to be accomplices of remote exclusive enterprises. The greater part of these joint endeavors were amazingly effective fiscally. Then again, progressing contrasts in administration inclinations made a consistent pressure inside of the joint ventures. One of the specific concerns for the Chinese government was to guarantee that its new car industry would receive the most recent advances in innovations. This subject of innovation exchange, and how the government of China could best support it, turned into a main issue of concern in China s car industry. The Rights Of Service Delivery In this paper I will provide an argument, and prove how rights based approaches to development intersect with the discussion of service delivery proposed by Batley et al. Batley et al argue that people, if organized, have the power to affect the services they are provided. They provide a statement from the World Bank as their basis. Direct accountability of service delivery organizations to users implies that citizens can both organize demand for services and monitor their performance (p. 279). The collective action of consumers becomes easier when the service they are being provided is located in a small territory where users can encounter each other easier (p. 280). This intersects with the idea of Batley et al. that customers, if organized, are able to use their power to demand or modify services provided. Additionally, according the Batley et al. for citizens and clients to organize, the specific service they desire to improve need to be in a territory with high density where users can encounter each other (p. 280). This allows citizens to exchange daily debates about the lack or poor quality of services. As a consequence, citizens organize around shared desires to either improve or demand services. One example of the rights talk approach intersection with Batley et al s service discussion is the work being done by Shacks Dweller Internationals (S.D.I.), an NGO that works with slum community members in various countries. This NGO raises the awareness of residents about their sanitation issues. They provide a platform for community members to fight for their right to have sanitation, while also providing a space for the residents to have political inclusiveness in the process. The university, or the school. Students come each year to campuses such as the University of Arkansas, or the University of Texas to begin their undergraduate education. These campuses are a group of ever changing buildings and monuments that make up what people think of as, the university. The definition of a school according to Webman s Unabashed Dictionary, is as follows. A group of humans moving together through the mind. This suggests that the university, or any school for that matter, is not bound by the borders and walls of a particular place. When asked why they are here, most students say it is because this is what they need to get ahead in life, whatever that may mean. It usually has much to do with the brass ring, or the house on the top of the hill with the sports car in the driveway. • 33. Essay Theoretical Organizational Behavior Analysis Throughout this essay I hope to analyse theoretical organizational behaviour by drawing on my own experiences from working in groups. The groups I am going to use as part of my examples are all from formal groups. Huczynski and Buchanan (2007, p. 291) gives a good definition of Formal groups in a few bullet points, where one of them is task orientation which in my opinion has clearly characterized the groups I am talking about. The groups are not necessarily consisting of like minded people, but individuals randomly picked by the lecturer/tutor which in many cases leads to different disagreements as the groups try to establish itself and the members of the group try to find their role within the group. Bruce Tuckman came up with a theory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tuckmans first stage is the forming stage which is where the group s ground rules are set up and the members find out about each other s background. To succeed in this first stage the group is dependent on some leader (Huczynski and Buchanan, 2007, pp. 291) to take the lead. In none of my groups have we had a formal election of a group leader, but somehow we have all agreed that the person that first took the initiative should be the leader. Our leader can therefore, at least in my opinion, be looked upon as a silently elected leader, and therefore perceived as more responsive to the needs of followers and the interests of the group (Ben Yoav et al. 1983 cited by De Cremer David and van Dijk Eric, 2008, pp. 358). The second and third stages that a group needs to go through is the Storming and Forming stage where normal the group faces its first problems or as Huczynski and Buchanan writes: some members might show hostility towards each other (2007, p. 291). On the other hand, it is also in these stages that people become friends and develop their trust towards each other. In my groups we must have either skipped these stages or finished them fairly quick as I didn t notice this happening at all. Connie J. G. Once the children have been identified, they need to have an adequate program to aid in their cognitive growth. The majority of gifted children are placed into the general education, leading to boredom. As they understand concepts faster, especially abstract, boredom sets in as the children continuously have to wait for their peers to catch up. Programs need to be made for them, as they are the future. They will aid in the development and continuation of America, far more than the average child. Several methods can be applied to a gifted program to keep the children engaged and their minds simulated. Acceleration and Enrichment are two options, with the accelerated program having the greatest positive feedback. Acceleration allows for the child to learn at a rapid pace, depending on them not their peers, while enrichment is the addition of supplement information or reading (Subotnik). Many programs in place presently have an accelerated program, but many are still too slow or parents have no knowledge of it. The programs also puts less stress on the general education teachers, especially if they don t know how to handle these students. Teachers within the program should be specialized in dealing with the gifted, allowing for a better understanding and connection between the student and teacher. And as all gifted students are different, the teachers need to be slightly flexible, but still continue along the accelerated path. They are three unmistakable viewpoints, yet they are conjoined and together constitute one bound together individual. The purpose of this research paper is to further emphasize, highlight, and defend St. Augustine s conclusion that the Holy Trinity is one God existing in three persons according to the meeting at the Council of Nicea 325. In 325, the Council of Nicea set out to formally characterize the relationship of the Son to the Father, in light of the dubious lessons of Arius. Driven by Bishop Athanasius, the gathering confirmed the precept of the Trinity as conventionality and censured Arius showing that Christ was the first making of God. The ideology received by the committee depicted Christ as God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance (homoousios) with the Father. To its west it connects to the NY metropolitan area and to the east it is closed off by Block Island and Fishers Island Sounds.
