Write An Essay On Gang Violence
Blood was running down Christian s body as he got stabbed 40 times by local gang members.
Christian, an 18 year old boy trying to run away from a gang, was afraid for his life because he was a
police informant, and they were in search of killing him. Cristian was pulled into the woods by a
young lady who promised him sex if he came into the woods, but little did he know it was all a plan,
Three gang members came out of the bushes, held him down and stabbed him repeatedly 40 times to
make sure he was completely dead. This is an unfortunate Salvadorian story told by the elders to scare
off younger boys from joining nearby gangs. As El Salvador stood one of the most dangerous and
violent countries back in the 90 s. Loyalty to any gang is very strong, the sense of family they have for
each other is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many can believe that gang affiliation is just a way of getting by or making a living or having some
sort of protection for your self. But this is my personal point of brow on this topic. Gang violence and
affiliation is at a booming rate. The violence is unacceptable no matter what the case is. Innocent
women and children get hurt and die due to this. Many people flee their own country for their own
protection many who don t have the opportunities to do so have to endure and keep safe of their
environment. Gang deaths happen everyday and it s sad and disappointing to know the real number of
the people who die. Many whom go unheard of. Families can never find the bodies or maybe the case
is they have no true family. I Am aware that gang violence and affiliation will never truly be wiped
out. But I can highly encourage others in saying that a gang is not going to solve anything. It s just to
cover the the true problems of what s going on behind closed doors. Like I said earlier, jail , Hospital
or death bed is the most common forms of aftermath if we re dealing with

Feminism And Cyberfeminism
Cyberfeminism is an offset of feminism characterized as a range of theories, debates, and practices
about the relationship between gender and digital culture (Daniels 102). While this definition
addresses some of the most basic ideas associated with Cyberfeminism, it is not actually a theory with
a universally accepted definition, but rather centers on a number of central ideas and practices.
However, it is generally accepted that the preliminary concepts of cyberfeminism, namely the idea of
a cyborg, were presented by Donna Haraway in her 1984 piece A Cyborg Manifesto. While her article
was written in the mid 80 s, Cyberfeminism achieved popularity in the late 80 s and 90 s in relation to
the blossoming technological advances, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The goal of adopting the cyborg figure is to lessen such power, in order to create a society in which
those with partial or contradictory identities may embrace those identities proudly, without fear of
policing or invisibility (295). One tactic recommended in this Manifesto, and later echoed in various
Cyberfeminist works, is irony. Irony, according to Haraway, is so effective because it draws attention
to pieces that do not fit neatly into a larger whole, as well as the tensions that arise from holding
incompatible things together because all are necessary and true (291). In fact, it s these tensions
themselves, the consequences of hardships of living a hybrid life that become the focus of some later
Cyberfeminist works, such as the struggle between the physical and the non physical, or between the
physical body and an online persona. What remains central, however, is Haraway s insistence that
such an examination of tension, or benefit, never become totalizing. One cannot rely on essential unity
(295) to define or understand something, especially something as complex as a board crossing,
boundary dissolving cyborg. That idea carries over to Cyberfeminist activism, ideology, and theory.
Just as Haraway speaks against a unified idea of women based on perceived, inherent characteristics,
including innate innocence

This Is Our Life Poem Comparison
Both of the poems mentioned that because of science fiction we are seeing the world differently.
Instead of seeing the real effects of how we are and what we do we see things to be a fantasy. Seeing
how we re not paying attention to the actual surroundings we don t really think about why things
happen. We just see things as normal because it s something we don t really think about. In the first
poem the opening started out with This is not a fantasy, this is our life. Throughout this poem it
mentions that we are the inventors and that we are the people who make the changes with our
surroundings. Being in charge of this gives us an important role on the things that we hold together.
The second poem just speaks about the negative things about this kind of genre because it denies how
things actually are. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They appear in many things telling us why our surroundings are a certain way and why we make
things be how they are. But the way that it is told on us it just makes us not see the reality of the things
and by that we don t really pay attention on what is occurring. The fact that people want to get rid of
the genre is reasonable because it s just like hearing false propaganda. We must be able to see how the
things we can cause and not be told we have nothing to do with everything that is around us. It s a bad
genre and the way it wants to get removed probably won t have a bad effect on people because then
they would need to stop believing the fictional things and start thinking about the things they

Authenticity And Cover Song Analysis
The theory of authorship often challenge the ideals of authenticity, especially within the context of
cover songs. This is due to the fact that the composer of the song is a separate entity from the
performer. Society has often valued composer performers as it has been encoded in culture within the
past century. the attempt to understand the past in terms of the past is paradoxically an absolutely
contemporary phenomenon. Authenticity is a historically specific abstraction and therefore, will
continuously be subjected to reconsiderations as our societal construction of authenticity changes
through time. A cover version is seemingly an art form that contains a thin line that dictates the
authentic an artist presents their image within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sincerity therefore emerges as an intrinsic factor within the concepts of both authorship and
authenticity. Sincerity and autobiography are techniques one can employ in the service of personal
authenticity, just as using traditional instruments and singing old songs are techniques one can use in
the service of cultural authenticity. The guitar solo proposes an interesting interaction with the rock
genre and a possible reference to the version of Word Up performed by the rock band, Gun. While this
is not the same solo included in Gun s version, it is similar in construction and tone thus
demonstrating and evolution of the piece as it is passes through each artist s rendition. As a result of
this, Little Mix have provided an authentic essence of a previous rendition within the style of rock
while maintaining the songs original pop based anthem sound. Through this analysis, it is apparent
that compositions, even within the composer s mind are rarely concrete and alterations through time
are inevitable. The notion of authenticity can consequently be challenged as society endeavours to find
that which is

Saussure s And Diachronic Perspectives
SAUSSURE S
SYNCHRONIC AND DIACHRONIC PERSPECTIVES
ASSIGNMENT BY: MANASWITA CHAKRABORTY DEPT. OF LINGUISTICS MA 1st
SEMESTER ROLL NO: 34
INTRODUCTION
One of the major consequences of the arbitrary nature of sign, is the distinction made between the
synchronic and diachronic study of language by the Swiss linguist and semiotician Ferdinand De
Saussure. Regarding the debate surrounding the perspective, it has been suggested by Saussure s
critics that in trying to distinguish between these two, and in granting priority on the synchronic nature
of study over the diachronic one, he was to a great extent ignoring the historical entity of language.
Inspite of the distinction made by Saussure, he believed that both kind of facts are intertwined. Hence
it raised a paradoxical situation.
SYNCHRONIC AND DIACHRONIC STUDY OF LANGUAGES
Synchronic study of language refers to the study of the linguistic system in a particular state without
taking the time period through which it has evolved into consideration. Here the languages are treated
as self contained systems of communication at any specific time without taking it s history into
account.
In contrast to the synchronic study of languages, is the diachronic study which studies the evolution of
a linguistic system over a period of time and are treated

Jenna Premo Into Thin Air
Jenna Premo Into Thin Air Response #1 Into Thin Air is more of an information book about the
mountain rather than a book about what went on during their climb. Krakauer seems to be a
reasonable man and starts his climbing journey from the summit. This shows that the climax or
disaster is during the descent. Krakauer s description of being on the summit wasn t all that exciting,
showing how something disinterest is going to happen. I think he thinks reaching the summit was not
worth what it had cost, which he is correct because loosing friends is not worth the risk. I do not
understand why anyone would risk their lives just for a label. Although I understand it was Krakauer s
childhood dream, he has a wife at home and he should make sure nothing happens to him so he can be
with her. I do not see who someone can ignore a significant other and risk their lives for five seconds
of adrenaline and a brand on their reputation. Ascending the Everest seems impossible to me,
considering the physical conditions put on people and the mental conditions. I was surprised at the
number of people who had died trying to climb Everest, I thought it would be higher, but considering
the amount of people who have, it makes more sense. When talking about trusting your partners, I
would have to. If you don t trust your partner you won t be able to get anything done without feeling
suspicious. With brains not working efficiently and high tensions, anything could happen and you

Dance Music and Moral Panic
ME5331ass2 Discuss one of the ideas of the following writers in relation to popular music culture:
Stanley Cohen. You may use a case study approach in your answer. Scholars such as Rietveld suggest
that; The British Culture has a long history in regulating pleasures associated with parties. A fear
seems to exist of the unregulated body that dances and is intoxicated...It is therefore not surprising that
the acid house parties; that heady mix of house n E events in 1998, were followed by various moral
panics. (Rietveld, 1998, pp. 253 4.) The dance music genre that became popularised in the late 1980s

as the creation of a moral panic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Crass also joined the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) in order to work alongside while
doing gigs and raising awareness of socio political issues. It could be theorised that many other bands
such as Conflict and Flux of Pink Indians also adopted the anarcho punk style as part of their ideology
recognising it as a socio political ideal rather than a means to gain further popularity. It can be
theorised that the intention of anarcho punk is to deteriorate government or outside oppression. They
challenge capitalism suggesting that the economic system itself is problematic and simply a way of
producing profit through social hierarchies. In regards to Cohen s theoretical assumptions regarding
societal panic the aforementioned genre of anrcho punk can be used as an example of how a
misunderstood sub culture within a popular music genre can be demonised and seen as the cause of
the moral and socio political problems within society. During the emergence of the punk movement
those involved in the culture were perceived by the media as being dangerous and violent thugs who
threatened the established moral system within civilized societies through lyrical content that directly
challenged the status quo. This is evident for example in the lyrics of

Barrier s The Bfg Or The Big Friendly Giant
The book the BFG or The Big Friendly Giant has multiple themes, some of them being courage,
friendship, injustice, and communication. Courage in the BFG is one of the most substantially
important pieces of material in this book. You are not born with courage, friendship makes courage.
The story started with an act of courage when Sophie stood up at the window sill and when she also
sat up and waited for the Queen of England to wake up from her trogglehumper or sleep and open up
the blinds. It takes an exceeding amount of courage to sit on a windowsill sitting high above the
ground, she was quite terrified, but determined not to show it (pg. 137). The BFG would not be alive if
he did not ever have courage. It shows in the story the he has courage when the Bloodbottler came

In the beginning the friendship between the friendly giant and Sophie was sure enough, rocky and off
balanced, when the giant first kidnapped Sophie all she thought was that the giant wanted to kidnap
her and eat her. But he does not, and soon they were a model the perfect friendship. Sophie always
encourages the BFG when he s feeling upset and unsure, and the BFG cares for Sophie. Together they
outsmart the Fleshlumpeater and then they take a trip to London together. As they become better
friends and while in London, Sophie becomes protective of the BFG standing up for him and
explaining to him what he means to her she wants everyone to scrutinize him in a nice and caring way
like she does. Sophie wants everyone is observe him in a nice and friendly manner and she doesn t
want them to eyeball in and thin mean and bad thoughts like he would attack them.. The friendship
that Sophie and the BFG teaches people not to judge a book by its cover. It also teaches people to give

Chalcopyrite Synthesis Lab Report
The process of extraction of copper varies depending of what ore, copper is being extracted from.
Chalcopyrite (CuFeS2) is a sulphide ore and it is one the most common ores of copper. The process of
extracting copper from chalcopyrite is a quite complex procedure in which both physical and chemical
processes are involved.
As chalcopyrite is around 0.5% copper and 99.5% unwanted rocky material , the first step to extract
copper from chalcopyrite is to increase the concentration of copper in the ore to high enough levels by
getting rid of as much of the unwanted rocky material . This can be done by a physical process called
froth flotation .
The process of froth flotation is quite simple and requires little energy. The process is as follows:
1. The ore is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A substance is added to the crushed ore. This substance attaches only to the metal compound particles
and gives them a hydrophobic (water repellent) property. For copper, this substance is often pine oil.
3. The ore is then put into a large bath containing water and a foaming agent. Air is blown inside to
make bubbles.
4. Because the compound s particles are hydrophobic, the bubbles will be able to catch them and bring
them afloat where they can flow out from the bath while the unwanted rocky material stays in the
bath.
5. The ore now contains around 30% copper and it is ready to be smelted. This ore is called
concentrated ore
Once the ore has been concentrated it is put inside a furnace where it is mixed with sand and oxygen.
The temperature inside the furnace is risen up to around 1000oC and oxygen is blown inside. Due to
the intense heat inside the furnace, the following things happen:
 The copper(II) ions in the chalcopyrite are reduced to copper(I) sulphide
 The iron in the chalcopyrite reacts with the sand and it is converted into an iron (II) silicate slag
which floats on the copper (I) sulphide and is discarded.
 Most of the sulphur in the chalcopyrite is converted into sulphur dioxide

Reliability in Smart Grids
In many areas of the United States, the only way a utility knows there s an outage is when a customer
calls to report it. A challenge faced by smart grid systems is to provide highly reliable transmission to
improve the energy efficiency of the system. If a proper command couldn t be send in the event of an
emergency it could result in disastrous consequences. As a result, quantitative reliability evaluation of
information infrastructures should be addressed.
A smart grid is a modernized electrical grid that uses analogues or digital information and
communications technology to gather and act on information, such as information about the behaviors
of suppliers and consumers, in an automated fashion to improve the efficiency, reliability, economics,
and sustainability of the production and distribution of electricity.
To provide the reliability of data communication of smart grids we are proposing wireless
communication infrastructure. In this paper we will discuss pros and cons along with the applicability
of wired, wireless and hybrid communication systems for the smart grid application.
For reliability we have to optimize both power consumption and power supply. Smart grid works on
the mechanism of data communication infrastructure. Smart grids has one of the most important
feature meter data management system which is designed to collect exchange and process the meter
data for optimization of power consumption and supply.

The topic of legalizing recreational marijuana in the United States has been a very controversial one.
States such as Colorado and Washington have gone on the offensive and have legalized recreational
marijuana and have enjoyed the high revenues brought in from cannabis sale. On the other hand other
states have kept low profiles because they are wary of the possible negative outcomes of legalizing
recreational marijuana and are using the states of Colorado and Washington as guinea pigs to see what

teenagers to switch over to marijuana and by legalizing it the switch to a safer drug would continue
and it would also make it cheaper than other illicit drugs. This correlation can be seen by the statistics
provided by the NIDA (National Institute of Drug Abuse) 2011 study. About 25% of teens surveyed
said they tried marijuana at least once last year, a statistically significant rise of about 4% since 2007.
Additionally, 6.6% of 12th graders also admitted to smoking weed daily (Gwynne). The study has also

among 12th graders by about one fourth (from 54% to 40%), (Gwynne). As teenagers will always
continue to experiment with illegal substances, its best we influence them with the safest drug,

Shakespeare Sonnet 29 Mood
Shakespeare s Sonnet 29 explores the inner mentality of the speaker as he reflects on his hopeless state
of depression to eventually realize that there is something more important than monetary wealth and
social status. The speaker is introspective and reflective in order to convey his epiphany of the
importance of intangible things. Throughout the sonnet, meaning is achieved through the use of
rhythmic structure, changing tone, and imagery. In the first quatrain, iambic pentameter creates an
introductory rhythm to present the speaker in a depressed state. The speaker begins by stating he is in
disgrace with Fortune, meaning he is having bad luck and believes he is unpopular to men s eyes. This
allusion to Dame Fortuna, the goddess of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speaker uses the word yet to begin this shift into the solution to his internal frustrations. When the
speaker begins to haply think of thee, it serves as a pun for the word happy. Although this new thought
occurs by chance, it is a happy alternative for the saddening thoughts that once occupied his mind.
Shakespeare also uses a simile of a lark arising from sullen earth at the break of day, implying that the
daytime is much happier than night. The day is compared to the dawning thought of his beloved, and
the very idea is like a lark who sings hymns at heaven s gate. The simile uses imagery to create an
uplifting, hopeful tone. The shift in the speaker s thoughts is reflected in the tone, as it changes from
melancholy to optimistic. Similarly, the heroic couplet at the end serves as a resolution to the speaker s
inner conflictions with depression, for he has an epiphany that he would rather be with thee than to
change [his] state with kings. The speaker s remembrance of thy sweet love brings him to this
conclusion. The enjambment of the last two lines creates flow with the speaker s clear thoughts,
allowing him to determine the most important thing in life, rather than monetary wealth or status, with
an optimistic

Parthenon
.Introduction
There are 3 (three) architectural orders in a classical building of the ancient Greece, they are Doric,
Ionic and Corinthian. As suggested by Dietsch and Stern (2002) that Doric is a common style in 7th
century B.C; Ionic style is first developed in the Ionian islands around the 6th century B.C or 100 year
after Doric style; and then, Corinthian style was originally from the city of Corinth around 5th century
B.C., not so popular like Doric.
The Parthenon is a Doric order style of the Temple that built by the Athenian Empire in 447 BC. In
terms of political and military viewpoints, the Parthenon is a symbol of Athenian imperial power. As
said by Martin (1999) that the Parthenon served as a champion of military power, indicated ... Show

The Pantheon (source: Wikipedia, 2016)
II. Discussion The initial function of both buildings is serving as a temple. Then, the Pantheon is used
as the Roman Church, while the Parthenon function is as a museum now days. Moreover, there is
another similarity between the Pantheon and the Parthenon that both Pantheon and Parthenon have 8
pillars in front of the entrance. These pillars to support a pediment; a triangular element in upper part
of front any classical style buildings. The different between Pantheon and Parthenon are following:
1.The Pantheon was designed to be placed to commemorate every god and goddesses (all the Roman
gods and goddesses), whereas the Parthenon was a temple for the patron of goddess, Athena.
2. In respect to structures, the Parthenon is a rectangular form; Columns are smaller; and columns in
Doric order of classical style. Quite a contrast that the Pantheon is built in a spherical structure, look
like circular from above building; columns are much larger, even to any other buildings ever built in
the Greek; and columns are in the Corinthian order of classical style.
3.In term of order of classical style that Doric is not only the oldest, but also very simple form. While
the Corinthian order is the newest one with a lot of fancies in the element and

is surrounding us with his inventions, such as functional incandescent light bulbs, and even the cell
phone you have in your pocket right now. Born in 1847 in Canal Town, Milan, Edison had a long and
successful career as an inventor up until the time of his death in 1931, at the age of 81. He was
married to Mary Stilwell until her death in 1884. Shorly after, he married Mina Miller. A well known
American innovator, his most significant and famous inventions include the phonograph, the motion
picture camera, and the long lasting practical electric light bulb. Thanks to his inventions, Thomas
Edison greatly impacted the world we live in today. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Case Of The Lawsuit
The Complaint Should Be Dismissed Because the Statute of Limitations Has Ran
Shahmaleki s complaint is futile because the statute limitation has run on the civil rights claims. 42
U.S.C. § 1982 does not include its own statutes of limitations. Instead, courts borrow limitation
periods from state law. Courts adopt the most analogous limitations period. In Kansas, the analogous
action for § 1983 is injury to the rights of another. That means under Kansas law, the statutes of
limitations for claims arising out of § 1983 is two years. Here, the statutes of limitations period has
passed. The claim set out by Shahmaleki arose on May 1, 2013. As two years have passed since the
claim arose, the statute of limitations has run and this Court should dismiss Shahmaleki s complaint.
The amended complaint also does not relate back to the original complaint. An amendment to change
or add a party must meet the requirements listed under 15(c) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
for it relate back. These requirements are 1) the amended claim must arise out of the conduct,
transaction, or occurrence set out in the original pleading, 2) sufficient notice must be provided to the
new parties, and 3) the new defendants must have known or should have known that the action would
be brought against them, but for a mistake concerning the proper party s identity. In this case, the
Defendants do not dispute the first two requirements, but Shahmaleki has not shown his amended

Ludwig van Beethoven was a great composer at his time. He was a German composer and born in a
big family whose interest and inclination is music. Though at the age of 20, he was already known as a
pianist and a composer with distinctive talent, it was at the age of 30 that Beethoven was recognized
as a talented pianist. In 1796, his life changed when he started to feel deafness. At first, he was
dismayed and become irritable so that he almost lost his hope but due to his strong determination, he
continued to compose music. He was able to create wonderful and well loved music even though he
became totally deaf. Beethoven was the grandson of a musician of Flemish origin named Lodewijk
van Beethoven (1712 1773). Beethoven was named after his grandfather, as Lodewijk is the Dutch
cognate of Ludwig. Beethoven s

Analysis Of Horkheimer And Adorno s Dialectic Of...
Published in 1944, Horkheimer and Adorno s Dialectic of Enlightenment raises certain themes curated
by different institute members of the Frankfurt School. A Psycho analytical theory is applied to anti
Semitism , authoritarianism and fascism; it initially however, discusses the mass culture industry, the
power of instrumental reason and of course the philosophy of enlightenment.
Adorno argued, in regard to both cultural production and mass culture that Capitalism has: hi jacked
art and its requirements of the market, this notion can also be applied to the relationship between
media/power and the elite, today. Thus, reliance needs (dependency) are fashioned in the minds of
consumers of said culture by fresh forms of culture curating a set of conditions of dependency by the
powerful. The aim of commercial art, it goes on to argue, is to be presented without any critique, thus
making its produce essentially ideological; the extra dominated interpretations of reality are
reproduced, reinforced and strengthened through this.
The authors state that the Enlightenment and science, developing from the thoughts and concepts of
Francis Bacon, has focused primarily on dominating nature and therefore other humans and thus
formulating a critique of both positivism and the philosophy of history.
The domination of nature is integral to the philosophy of the Enlightenment. However, it could even
be said that a basis that was once linked to liberation has been modified into a

The Role Of Homeostatic Mechanisms Of Homeostasis Essay
Homeostasis 3.4 Hannah Miller
Introduction
My investigation is about Homeostasis. Homeostasis is maintaining a physiological system in a higher
animal to maintain co ordinated responses. It tries to maintain the environmental changes, and a
condition of balance or equilibrium within its internal environment. Homeostasis is the process of
keeping everything constant. The higher animal I have chosen is Humans. The reason why I have
chosen Humans is because there are so many homeostatic mechanisms available for this higher
animal. Homeostatic mechanisms are important because it maintains your core body temperature so
the enzymes within the body are able to run at an optimum level. (pers comm [Nicole Mitchell], 2016)
If an enzyme get too cold the process of bonding with proteins will slow until they are unable to bond,
if an enzyme is too hot it will de nature meaning its shape will change and be unable to bond with
proteins, both being too cold and too hot will kill the host as organs are unable to function without
proteins . It regulates the body temperature so you don t heat up too much. A negative feedback loop is
important because it allows the mechanism to stop, so you don t die. The mechanism I have chosen to
do for my investigation are thermoregulation (temperature) and blood pressure. A human is an
Endotherm (warm blooded). Endotherm is an organism which generates heat to maintain its body
temperature and

War Is Kind
Research Paper Rough Draft Statistics show that over 1000 people were killed in the U.S. by police in
2015, and at least 441 people have been killed so far this year alone. If we continue with this trend, the
numbers will keep growing each year. If the police force was created to protect citizens, why are
people living in constant fear of being killed every day? The police force, much like war, is often
glorified in the media, when in reality it does more bad for society than good. Stephen Crane used his
experiences in the war to write War Is Kind , and he gave America a perspective that many hadn t

One might argue that war stimulates the economy and a strong army is necessary for protection, but
how far are we willing to go when the hands of young men and women s lives are in our hands? We

Racial Bias from the Console
Kathy Vo
A10694259 Introduction
Researchers regularly research the media s influence on race perception, but rarely examine one
specific form: video games. Unlike formats such as television and newspapers, video games provide
an interactive platform for users to live in an alternative world and perform acts considered socially
wrong in real societies (Burgess et al). This form of virtual simulation can reinforce how one
perceives stereotypes at higher rates. Not only do the majority of these games feature white
protagonists, but also task them to defeat ethnically ambiguous enemies. Currently, the most popular
genre is shooter games set in the Middle East, where the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Racial bias may also influence who we choose to bond with. Another study suggest we show empathy
bias to in group members when viewing clips of people being poked with a big needle, indicated
through activation of the anterior cingulate cortex (Xu et al).
Previous studies examining the relationship between video games and race perception mainly
measured racial bias through Implicit Association Tests (Bosman). Not only can these tests be
subjective, but participants may fix their answers in attempts to deny their identity as racist. For my
research, I aim to link neuronal activity of implicit racism into manifested behavior. I hypothesize that
playing video games with negative racial stereotypes will produce stronger implicit thoughts and
explicit behavior of racism than other media formats.
Method
Participants for this study will be recruited from college students looking for extra credit. We will
specifically request for participants with minimal to no video game experience for a more accurate
reading on the effects of video games on race perception. The subjects will be informed that the
experiment will research attention and memory. For this study, we will focus on racial bias against
Middle Easterns, a group often linked to terrorism due to recent military activities. Using fMRI, the
first task will measure initial activation of the amygdala (fear) and anterior cingulate cortex (empathy).

Kenneth Cmiel And Civic Hackers
Civility and expertise are concepts that imply a historical significance which is valuable to understand
when discussing civic hackers. A connection between the three ideas is made evident through Kenneth
Cmiel s Politics of Civility, Andrew Schrock s Civic Hacking as Data Activism and Advocacy,
Sebastian Kubitschko s Hackers Media Practices and the article When the Government Approves of
Hacking by Natasha Lennard. From the civil rights movement and counterculture of the 1960 s, to
well perceived antics of the Chaos Computer Club, civic hacking garners a larger social implication
than the act itself.
In the Politics of Civility, Cmiel evaluates the historical social change that occurred through the 1960 s

Schrock attempts to disprove common misconceptions about civic hackers, by suggesting that civic
hacking is a form of data activism and advocacy. Early definitions of civic hackers were froth with
white hat imagery of tech savvy geeks that worked with information technology tools to solve or
challenge social and civic issues. This notion was met with both hype and cynicism, but ultimately
through the modes of requesting, digesting, contributing, modeling, and contesting, civic hackers act
as mediators between the government and its citizens. Early vilifying narratives of hackers helped
support the idea of government secrecy, but the distinction that the civic hacker s institutionally
collaborative nature is a primary difference from hackers being defined as antagonistic or subversive,
(Schrock) allowed an eventual collaboration between the government and civic hackers. Despite the
friendliness extended by the government towards civic hackers, certain initiatives such as the National
Day of Civic Hacking have received critique from the technical community in a time when the
government continues to persecute hacktivists and open data activists, (Lennard, salon.com) under the
dangerously broad (Lennard, salon.com) Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, as stated in Natasha

An Argument Against Abortion Essay
Abortion in America is a controversial issue in which both
sides have valid arguments at face value. The pro choice side has many
arguments to support it belief in keeping abortion legal. Many of these are
faulty, and argue points irrelevant to the issue as I will attempt to
illustrate, thereby eliminating the main pro choice arguments.
The pro life position has somewhat different ideas. The most
popular of these is: The unborn entity is fully human from the moment of
conception. Abortion results in the intentional death of the unborn entity.
Therefore, abortion can be defined the intentional killing of a human being.
This killing is in most cases unjustified, since the unborn human being has a ... Show more content on

The reason this argument doesn t work is because it is begging
the question. In fact, this lie hides behind a good percentage of the popular
arguments for the pro choice position. One begs the question when one assumes
what one is trying to prove is correct.
The question begging of the coat hanger argument is very obvious: but only by
assuming that the unborn are not fully human does the argument work. If the
unborn are not fully human, then the pro choicer has a legitimate concern,
just as one would have in overturning a law forbidding appendicitis
operations if countless people were needlessly dying of both appendicitis and
illegal operations. But if the unborn are fully human, this pro choice
argument is the same as saying that because people die or are harmed while
killing other people, the state should make it safe for them to do so.
Even some pro choicers, who argue for their position in other ways, admit
that the
coat hanger/back alley argument is crap. Although statistics cant establish
a particular moral position, there has been arguments over both the actual
number of illegal abortions and the number of women who died as a result of
them before legalization. Prior to Roe vs Wade, pro choicers used saying that
nearly a million women every year obtained illegal abortions performed

Solubility Lab Report
Solubility, which influences gases in solution, is dependent on temperature. When using water,
increasing the temperature decreases the solubility of gases. This is because whenever the temperature
of a gas increases, the kinetic energy of that gas increases as well. This causes intermolecular bonds to
break and allows the gas molecules to escape the liquid. The decreased temperature of the liquid
causes it to be more oxygen rich.
Liquid breathing is when an organism breathes an oxygen liquid as opposed to air, this liquid is
usually from the perfluorocarbon family. These types of fluorine compound can contain other
elements such as hydrogen, chlorine, or bromine. A common property of these liquids is high
solubility for respiratory gases. Also, this means that they can contain a large amount of oxygen and
carbon dioxide. In addition, the pressure of the gas is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As they go deeper into the water the pressure increases forcing the nitrogen molecules closer together,
making room for more to be absorbed. When a diver is ready to return to the surface they must do so
carefully. In their ascension, pressure lessens and the nitrogen will expand. As the diver s body cannot
hold as much nitrogen on the surface as it could in the water they must come up slowly to release the
nitrogen. It will go from the body tissues, to the blood, and then be exhaled. If a diver ascends too
rapidly, the nitrogen will form bubbles in the blood, travel through arteries, and prohibit blood flow to
body parts. This can cause tissue damage, or worse, and is known as decompression sickness. Even if
a diver does avoid this, some excess nitrogen will still remain in his body for hours or days after the
dive. For this reason, heavy exercise and flying is not recommended after a dive because it will cause
the nitrogen to be released to quickly, thus resulting in decompression

Observation and Requirements Gathering
Introduction
The purpose of the report is to gather beneficial information that is important to the user of a workout
app, such as features, usability, and functionalities.
Method
Five people provided interviews to gather the user observations. All five of these people enjoy
exercising on a daily basis. The group is comprised of three men and two women. All were
interviewed in person with pen and paper for data gathering. The data that was gathered was then
interpreted into needs and from that a survey was developed.
Results
The questions in Appendix A could get the most out of users because they cover all aspects of design
and they are simple. The most common feature in the app was music control. It would be more
convenient for the users to access and control their music directly in the app without having to access
their devices native music app. One particular item of interest is the fact that no one mentioned
anything about social media connectivity. Some of the features discussed were GPS tracking, music
control, workout comparison and goal metrics.

Testing Software quality assurance is a very important part of the software development and
installation. The main objective of quality assurance is to avoid problems or to detect them as soon as
possible (Shelly, Cashman Rosenblatt, 2003, p. 410). The best case scenario is to have four instances
of the system, a testing environment, a user acceptance environment, a production environment, and a
training environment. The program can be tested on the testing and user acceptance environments. The
initial and most important step of the testing phase is creating the test plan. The test plan should
include what features and functionality will be tested based on the confirmed requirements. The next
step is unit testing or code review. Unit testing involves the QA person testing the code on their
machine. Once code has passed the unit test, it will then be released to the testing environment for
system testing. The QA person can then test the integration of the different modules of the code as a
program rather than separate parts as well as to find and report bugs and any data inaccuracy. The next
phase of testing is the user acceptance test. In this phase the users test the program for functionality
and data accuracy. The test phase isn t a linear phase, more of a circular, back and forth between the
developers and the QA people. After all phases have passed, the next step would be to open a change

  • 2. Write An Essay On Gang Violence Blood was running down Christian s body as he got stabbed 40 times by local gang members. Christian, an 18 year old boy trying to run away from a gang, was afraid for his life because he was a police informant, and they were in search of killing him. Cristian was pulled into the woods by a young lady who promised him sex if he came into the woods, but little did he know it was all a plan, Three gang members came out of the bushes, held him down and stabbed him repeatedly 40 times to make sure he was completely dead. This is an unfortunate Salvadorian story told by the elders to scare off younger boys from joining nearby gangs. As El Salvador stood one of the most dangerous and violent countries back in the 90 s. Loyalty to any gang is very strong, the sense of family they have for each other is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many can believe that gang affiliation is just a way of getting by or making a living or having some sort of protection for your self. But this is my personal point of brow on this topic. Gang violence and affiliation is at a booming rate. The violence is unacceptable no matter what the case is. Innocent women and children get hurt and die due to this. Many people flee their own country for their own protection many who don t have the opportunities to do so have to endure and keep safe of their environment. Gang deaths happen everyday and it s sad and disappointing to know the real number of the people who die. Many whom go unheard of. Families can never find the bodies or maybe the case is they have no true family. I Am aware that gang violence and affiliation will never truly be wiped out. But I can highly encourage others in saying that a gang is not going to solve anything. It s just to cover the the true problems of what s going on behind closed doors. Like I said earlier, jail , Hospital or death bed is the most common forms of aftermath if we re dealing with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Feminism And Cyberfeminism Cyberfeminism is an offset of feminism characterized as a range of theories, debates, and practices about the relationship between gender and digital culture (Daniels 102). While this definition addresses some of the most basic ideas associated with Cyberfeminism, it is not actually a theory with a universally accepted definition, but rather centers on a number of central ideas and practices. However, it is generally accepted that the preliminary concepts of cyberfeminism, namely the idea of a cyborg, were presented by Donna Haraway in her 1984 piece A Cyborg Manifesto. While her article was written in the mid 80 s, Cyberfeminism achieved popularity in the late 80 s and 90 s in relation to the blossoming technological advances, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The goal of adopting the cyborg figure is to lessen such power, in order to create a society in which those with partial or contradictory identities may embrace those identities proudly, without fear of policing or invisibility (295). One tactic recommended in this Manifesto, and later echoed in various Cyberfeminist works, is irony. Irony, according to Haraway, is so effective because it draws attention to pieces that do not fit neatly into a larger whole, as well as the tensions that arise from holding incompatible things together because all are necessary and true (291). In fact, it s these tensions themselves, the consequences of hardships of living a hybrid life that become the focus of some later Cyberfeminist works, such as the struggle between the physical and the non physical, or between the physical body and an online persona. What remains central, however, is Haraway s insistence that such an examination of tension, or benefit, never become totalizing. One cannot rely on essential unity (295) to define or understand something, especially something as complex as a board crossing, boundary dissolving cyborg. That idea carries over to Cyberfeminist activism, ideology, and theory. Just as Haraway speaks against a unified idea of women based on perceived, inherent characteristics, including innate innocence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. This Is Our Life Poem Comparison Both of the poems mentioned that because of science fiction we are seeing the world differently. Instead of seeing the real effects of how we are and what we do we see things to be a fantasy. Seeing how we re not paying attention to the actual surroundings we don t really think about why things happen. We just see things as normal because it s something we don t really think about. In the first poem the opening started out with This is not a fantasy, this is our life. Throughout this poem it mentions that we are the inventors and that we are the people who make the changes with our surroundings. Being in charge of this gives us an important role on the things that we hold together. The second poem just speaks about the negative things about this kind of genre because it denies how things actually are. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They appear in many things telling us why our surroundings are a certain way and why we make things be how they are. But the way that it is told on us it just makes us not see the reality of the things and by that we don t really pay attention on what is occurring. The fact that people want to get rid of the genre is reasonable because it s just like hearing false propaganda. We must be able to see how the things we can cause and not be told we have nothing to do with everything that is around us. It s a bad genre and the way it wants to get removed probably won t have a bad effect on people because then they would need to stop believing the fictional things and start thinking about the things they ... • 5. Authenticity And Cover Song Analysis The theory of authorship often challenge the ideals of authenticity, especially within the context of cover songs. This is due to the fact that the composer of the song is a separate entity from the performer. Society has often valued composer performers as it has been encoded in culture within the past century. the attempt to understand the past in terms of the past is paradoxically an absolutely contemporary phenomenon. Authenticity is a historically specific abstraction and therefore, will continuously be subjected to reconsiderations as our societal construction of authenticity changes through time. A cover version is seemingly an art form that contains a thin line that dictates the authentic an artist presents their image within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sincerity therefore emerges as an intrinsic factor within the concepts of both authorship and authenticity. Sincerity and autobiography are techniques one can employ in the service of personal authenticity, just as using traditional instruments and singing old songs are techniques one can use in the service of cultural authenticity. The guitar solo proposes an interesting interaction with the rock genre and a possible reference to the version of Word Up performed by the rock band, Gun. While this is not the same solo included in Gun s version, it is similar in construction and tone thus demonstrating and evolution of the piece as it is passes through each artist s rendition. As a result of this, Little Mix have provided an authentic essence of a previous rendition within the style of rock while maintaining the songs original pop based anthem sound. Through this analysis, it is apparent that compositions, even within the composer s mind are rarely concrete and alterations through time are inevitable. The notion of authenticity can consequently be challenged as society endeavours to find that which is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Saussure s And Diachronic Perspectives SAUSSURE S SYNCHRONIC AND DIACHRONIC PERSPECTIVES ASSIGNMENT BY: MANASWITA CHAKRABORTY DEPT. OF LINGUISTICS MA 1st SEMESTER ROLL NO: 34 INTRODUCTION One of the major consequences of the arbitrary nature of sign, is the distinction made between the synchronic and diachronic study of language by the Swiss linguist and semiotician Ferdinand De Saussure. Regarding the debate surrounding the perspective, it has been suggested by Saussure s critics that in trying to distinguish between these two, and in granting priority on the synchronic nature of study over the diachronic one, he was to a great extent ignoring the historical entity of language. Inspite of the distinction made by Saussure, he believed that both kind of facts are intertwined. Hence it raised a paradoxical situation. SYNCHRONIC AND DIACHRONIC STUDY OF LANGUAGES Synchronic study of language refers to the study of the linguistic system in a particular state without taking the time period through which it has evolved into consideration. Here the languages are treated as self contained systems of communication at any specific time without taking it s history into account. • 7. Jenna Premo Into Thin Air Jenna Premo Into Thin Air Response #1 Into Thin Air is more of an information book about the mountain rather than a book about what went on during their climb. Krakauer seems to be a reasonable man and starts his climbing journey from the summit. This shows that the climax or disaster is during the descent. Krakauer s description of being on the summit wasn t all that exciting, showing how something disinterest is going to happen. I think he thinks reaching the summit was not worth what it had cost, which he is correct because loosing friends is not worth the risk. I do not understand why anyone would risk their lives just for a label. Although I understand it was Krakauer s childhood dream, he has a wife at home and he should make sure nothing happens to him so he can be with her. I do not see who someone can ignore a significant other and risk their lives for five seconds of adrenaline and a brand on their reputation. Ascending the Everest seems impossible to me, considering the physical conditions put on people and the mental conditions. I was surprised at the number of people who had died trying to climb Everest, I thought it would be higher, but considering the amount of people who have, it makes more sense. It can be theorised that the intention of anarcho punk is to deteriorate government or outside oppression. They challenge capitalism suggesting that the economic system itself is problematic and simply a way of producing profit through social hierarchies. In regards to Cohen s theoretical assumptions regarding societal panic the aforementioned genre of anrcho punk can be used as an example of how a misunderstood sub culture within a popular music genre can be demonised and seen as the cause of the moral and socio political problems within society. Courage in the BFG is one of the most substantially important pieces of material in this book. You are not born with courage, friendship makes courage. The story started with an act of courage when Sophie stood up at the window sill and when she also sat up and waited for the Queen of England to wake up from her trogglehumper or sleep and open up the blinds. It takes an exceeding amount of courage to sit on a windowsill sitting high above the ground, she was quite terrified, but determined not to show it (pg. 137). • 14. Chalcopyrite Synthesis Lab Report The process of extraction of copper varies depending of what ore, copper is being extracted from. Chalcopyrite (CuFeS2) is a sulphide ore and it is one the most common ores of copper. The process of extracting copper from chalcopyrite is a quite complex procedure in which both physical and chemical processes are involved. As chalcopyrite is around 0.5% copper and 99.5% unwanted rocky material , the first step to extract copper from chalcopyrite is to increase the concentration of copper in the ore to high enough levels by getting rid of as much of the unwanted rocky material . This can be done by a physical process called froth flotation . The process of froth flotation is quite simple and requires little energy. The process is as follows: 1. The ore is ... For copper, this substance is often pine oil. 3. The ore is then put into a large bath containing water and a foaming agent. Air is blown inside to make bubbles. 4. Because the compound s particles are hydrophobic, the bubbles will be able to catch them and bring them afloat where they can flow out from the bath while the unwanted rocky material stays in the bath. 5. The ore now contains around 30% copper and it is ready to be smelted. This ore is called concentrated ore Once the ore has been concentrated it is put inside a furnace where it is mixed with sand and oxygen. The temperature inside the furnace is risen up to around 1000oC and oxygen is blown inside. Due to the intense heat inside the furnace, the following things happen:  The copper(II) ions in the chalcopyrite are reduced to copper(I) sulphide  The iron in the chalcopyrite reacts with the sand and it is converted into an iron (II) silicate slag which floats on the copper (I) sulphide and is discarded.  Most of the sulphur in the chalcopyrite is converted into sulphur dioxide ... A challenge faced by smart grid systems is to provide highly reliable transmission to improve the energy efficiency of the system. If a proper command couldn t be send in the event of an emergency it could result in disastrous consequences. As a result, quantitative reliability evaluation of information infrastructures should be addressed. A smart grid is a modernized electrical grid that uses analogues or digital information and communications technology to gather and act on information, such as information about the behaviors of suppliers and consumers, in an automated fashion to improve the efficiency, reliability, economics, and sustainability of the production and distribution of electricity. To provide the reliability of data communication of smart grids we are proposing wireless communication infrastructure. In this paper we will discuss pros and cons along with the applicability of wired, wireless and hybrid communication systems for the smart grid application. For reliability we have to optimize both power consumption and power supply. Smart grid works on the mechanism of data communication infrastructure. Smart grids has one of the most important feature meter data management system which is designed to collect exchange and process the meter data for optimization of power consumption and supply. About 25% of teens surveyed said they tried marijuana at least once last year, a statistically significant rise of about 4% since 2007. Throughout the sonnet, meaning is achieved through the use of rhythmic structure, changing tone, and imagery. Shakespeare also uses a simile of a lark arising from sullen earth at the break of day, implying that the daytime is much happier than night. The day is compared to the dawning thought of his beloved, and the very idea is like a lark who sings hymns at heaven s gate. The simile uses imagery to create an uplifting, hopeful tone. The shift in the speaker s thoughts is reflected in the tone, as it changes from melancholy to optimistic. Similarly, the heroic couplet at the end serves as a resolution to the speaker s inner conflictions with depression, for he has an epiphany that he would rather be with thee than to change [his] state with kings. Instead, courts borrow limitation periods from state law. Courts adopt the most analogous limitations period. In Kansas, the analogous action for § 1983 is injury to the rights of another. That means under Kansas law, the statutes of limitations for claims arising out of § 1983 is two years. Here, the statutes of limitations period has passed. Published in 1944, Horkheimer and Adorno s Dialectic of Enlightenment raises certain themes curated by different institute members of the Frankfurt School. A Psycho analytical theory is applied to anti Semitism , authoritarianism and fascism; it initially however, discusses the mass culture industry, the power of instrumental reason and of course the philosophy of enlightenment. Adorno argued, in regard to both cultural production and mass culture that Capitalism has: hi jacked art and its requirements of the market, this notion can also be applied to the relationship between media/power and the elite, today. Thus, reliance needs (dependency) are fashioned in the minds of consumers of said culture by fresh forms of culture curating a set of conditions of dependency by the powerful. The aim of commercial art, it goes on to argue, is to be presented without any critique, thus making its produce essentially ideological; the extra dominated interpretations of reality are reproduced, reinforced and strengthened through this. The authors state that the Enlightenment and science, developing from the thoughts and concepts of Francis Bacon, has focused primarily on dominating nature and therefore other humans and thus formulating a critique of both positivism and the philosophy of history. • 23. The Role Of Homeostatic Mechanisms Of Homeostasis Essay Homeostasis 3.4 Hannah Miller Introduction My investigation is about Homeostasis. Homeostasis is maintaining a physiological system in a higher animal to maintain co ordinated responses. It tries to maintain the environmental changes, and a condition of balance or equilibrium within its internal environment. Homeostasis is the process of keeping everything constant. The higher animal I have chosen is Humans. The reason why I have chosen Humans is because there are so many homeostatic mechanisms available for this higher animal. Homeostatic mechanisms are important because it maintains your core body temperature so the enzymes within the body are able to run at an optimum level. (pers comm [Nicole Mitchell], 2016) If an enzyme get too cold the process of bonding with proteins will slow until they are unable to bond, if an enzyme is too hot it will de nature meaning its shape will change and be unable to bond with proteins, both being too cold and too hot will kill the host as organs are unable to function without proteins . It regulates the body temperature so you don t heat up too much. A negative feedback loop is important because it allows the mechanism to stop, so you don t die. The mechanism I have chosen to do for my investigation are thermoregulation (temperature) and blood pressure. A human is an Endotherm (warm blooded). Racial Bias From The Console PSYC 114/SUMMER 2014 Racial Bias from the Console Kathy Vo A10694259 Introduction Researchers regularly research the media s influence on race perception, but rarely examine one specific form: video games. Unlike formats such as television and newspapers, video games provide an interactive platform for users to live in an alternative world and perform acts considered socially wrong in real societies (Burgess et al). This form of virtual simulation can reinforce how one perceives stereotypes at higher rates. Not only do the majority of these games feature white protagonists, but also task them to defeat ethnically ambiguous enemies. Another study suggest we show empathy bias to in group members when viewing clips of people being poked with a big needle, indicated through activation of the anterior cingulate cortex (Xu et al). Previous studies examining the relationship between video games and race perception mainly measured racial bias through Implicit Association Tests (Bosman). Not only can these tests be subjective, but participants may fix their answers in attempts to deny their identity as racist. For my research, I aim to link neuronal activity of implicit racism into manifested behavior. I hypothesize that playing video games with negative racial stereotypes will produce stronger implicit thoughts and explicit behavior of racism than other media formats. Method Participants for this study will be recruited from college students looking for extra credit. We will specifically request for participants with minimal to no video game experience for a more accurate reading on the effects of video games on race perception. The subjects will be informed that the experiment will research attention and memory. A connection between the three ideas is made evident through Kenneth Cmiel s Politics of Civility, Andrew Schrock s Civic Hacking as Data Activism and Advocacy, Sebastian Kubitschko s Hackers Media Practices and the article When the Government Approves of Hacking by Natasha Lennard. From the civil rights movement and counterculture of the 1960 s, to well perceived antics of the Chaos Computer Club, civic hacking garners a larger social implication than the act itself. Schrock attempts to disprove common misconceptions about civic hackers, by suggesting that civic hacking is a form of data activism and advocacy. Early definitions of civic hackers were froth with white hat imagery of tech savvy geeks that worked with information technology tools to solve or challenge social and civic issues. This notion was met with both hype and cynicism, but ultimately through the modes of requesting, digesting, contributing, modeling, and contesting, civic hackers act as mediators between the government and its citizens. Early vilifying narratives of hackers helped support the idea of government secrecy, but the distinction that the civic hacker s institutionally collaborative nature is a primary difference from hackers being defined as antagonistic or subversive, (Schrock) allowed an eventual collaboration between the government and civic hackers. Despite the friendliness extended by the government towards civic hackers, certain initiatives such as the National Day of Civic Hacking have received critique from the technical community in a time when the government continues to persecute hacktivists and open data activists, (Lennard, salon.com) under the dangerously broad (Lennard, salon.com) Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, as stated in Natasha Lennard s article, When the ... The pro choice side has many arguments to support it belief in keeping abortion legal. Many of these are faulty, and argue points irrelevant to the issue as I will attempt to illustrate, thereby eliminating the main pro choice arguments. The pro life position has somewhat different ideas. The most popular of these is: The unborn entity is fully human from the moment of conception. Abortion results in the intentional death of the unborn entity. Therefore, abortion can be defined the intentional killing of a human being. If the unborn are not fully human, then the pro choicer has a legitimate concern, just as one would have in overturning a law forbidding appendicitis operations if countless people were needlessly dying of both appendicitis and illegal operations. • 34. Solubility Lab Report Solubility, which influences gases in solution, is dependent on temperature. When using water, increasing the temperature decreases the solubility of gases. This is because whenever the temperature of a gas increases, the kinetic energy of that gas increases as well. This causes intermolecular bonds to break and allows the gas molecules to escape the liquid. The decreased temperature of the liquid causes it to be more oxygen rich. Liquid breathing is when an organism breathes an oxygen liquid as opposed to air, this liquid is usually from the perfluorocarbon family. These types of fluorine compound can contain other elements such as hydrogen, chlorine, or bromine. A common property of these liquids is high solubility for respiratory gases. As they go deeper into the water the pressure increases forcing the nitrogen molecules closer together, making room for more to be absorbed. When a diver is ready to return to the surface they must do so carefully. In their ascension, pressure lessens and the nitrogen will expand. As the diver s body cannot hold as much nitrogen on the surface as it could in the water they must come up slowly to release the nitrogen. It will go from the body tissues, to the blood, and then be exhaled. If a diver ascends too rapidly, the nitrogen will form bubbles in the blood, travel through arteries, and prohibit blood flow to body parts. This can cause tissue damage, or worse, and is known as decompression sickness. Even if a diver does avoid this, some excess nitrogen will still remain in his body for hours or days after the dive. For this reason, heavy exercise and flying is not recommended after a dive because it will cause the nitrogen to be released to quickly, thus resulting in decompression ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Testing Software quality assurance is a very important part of the software development and installation. The main objective of quality assurance is to avoid problems or to detect them as soon as possible (Shelly, Cashman Rosenblatt, 2003, p. 410). The best case scenario is to have four instances of the system, a testing environment, a user acceptance environment, a production environment, and a training environment. The program can be tested on the testing and user acceptance environments. The initial and most important step of the testing phase is creating the test plan. The test plan should include what features and functionality will be tested based on the confirmed requirements. The next step is unit testing or code review. Unit testing involves the QA person testing the code on their machine. Once code has passed the unit test, it will then be released to the testing environment for system testing. The QA person can then test the integration of the different modules of the code as a program rather than separate parts as well as to find and report bugs and any data inaccuracy. The next phase of testing is the user acceptance test. In this phase the users test the program for functionality and data accuracy. The test phase isn t a linear phase, more of a circular, back and forth between the developers and the QA people. After all phases have passed, the next step would be to open a change ...
